guess who chickened out of getting her wisdom teeth pulled like a little bitch
#this gal…😔#i would have been fine if they put me to sleep for it#but my dentist office doesn’t offer sedations#which I didn’t know until yesterday. until yesterday i was under the impression that i would be asleep#so i tried doing it just being numbed#no#not a good choice#i got in the chair#they numbed me#i saw the pliers and i think i had an anxiety attack?#i couldn’t control my breathing and i started sobbing in the chair#and my dentist opted out of doing it and referred me to an oral surgeon#and i am trying desperately not to bully myself over this#but it’s not working#like damn why can’t i just be an adult and do something tough for once….

OH well when I was like eight I had an extra tooth that was trying to grow upwards, like, into my nose, so they had to go in and surgically remove that one. smh. it fucked up all my other teeth somehow so then i got braces immediately after. i have really good mouth genetics actually.
#unfort i was EIGHT YEARS OLD#and therefore not capable of taking care of braces#so then they removed them#and then when i was like twelve i had another oral surgery#to remove that flap of skin like? under your lip#just below your nose and above your front teeth?#the place where you get a smiley piercing#yeah i dont have that they cut it out#and then immediately after THAT surgery i got braces again#and then when i was fourteen i had to get a root canal#coz ig my teeth have pits in the backs of them?#which makes it easy for bacteria to crawl up in them? or smth#anyway i had an abscess and a massive infection#was in horrible pain had a fever etc etc and we went to the dr and he said go to the dentist so we went to the dentist#and the DENTIST said i was just being DRAMATIC abt my braces and to ignore it#and then i happened to see my orthodontist like a week later and he was like#yah uh the color on that tooth is weird i wanna xray it#OH YEAH ACTUALLY THERES A HORRIBLE INFECTION. were referring you to an oral surgeron#and then i went to the oral surgeon for the consult and she said mmmm actually im like?#super dupes worried that the infection is gonna move into ur brain and kill u like. literally any minute now so uhhhhh can we do the surger#like#RIGHT NOW??? ill cancel all my other appts#so we did#but then the infection was so bad that it came back so a week later we did a second surgery#but this time they went in thru an incision in my gums to like. scrub out all the infection i guess#and it had eaten away a part of my jaw so i got a BONE GRAFT#and like sixteen stitches#but now its okay :)#i have a gum scar#anyway now my wisdom teeth are doing things lol

dont have a book to read during naptime all i hav been reading is graphic novels and vol 9 i ordered online but it came just an hour ago and im at work 🙄and i hada tiny lunch bc there were barely any leftovers w these one yr olds i had like 3 chicken nuggets and some zucchini i want to go homeee i hate work i need to start bringjng food from home but i need to go to the store which i dont want to do but maybe i will etc. need to do that and also maybe vacuum my car this weekend and also put together a self soothe kit that ive been putting off and also schedule like 3diff doctors appts eventually but thjs will probably not happen for the next 6 months knowing how hard i can put that stuff off
#need to schedule an appt w my doctor to follow up on my.meds which i dont think r doing anything at all so idek whst to sa#say#im on a rly low dosage as a starting dose but yeah . idk like its hard to measure the quality if my life rn and#mood n stuff cuz theres so many other factors so rly i dont think i notice any effects from my meds#And i also need to go to the dentist bc i need to keep up w my oral hygiene and i have not been in like two yrs#and also the eye doctor but i feel like thats less important eben tho my prescription changes every time i go but yeah i havent been in two#ish yrs but like i can still see so i dont think thats as urgent lmao

my mom never had wisdom teeth so my greatest source of knowledge for various adult life scenarios just has no experience with something I’m dealing with and I’m stuck with google of all things
#the left ones are erupting#and they don't hurt aside from like. slightly sore gums where the tooth is poking through#so like. is it okay#I saw a dentist two months ago and he didn't say anything about it#do I just let it wait until July when I see the dentist again and then ask about it?#do I NEED to get them out??#I've had oral surgery before and I'm really not a fan#why is it so difficult to have a human body#I don't know how to deal with this I haven't dealt with a tooth poking out since the last oral surgery#(one of my adult teeth didn't come down so I needed the surgery to attach a tiny chain to it and then the orthodontist slowly pulled it down#via like elastic tied to the tiny chain or something)#it's just very frustrating that my mouth is arguably the part of my body that I practice the most consistent self-care on#ie I've literally never not brushed twice a day in my whole life#and yet it still brings me trouble and pain#it's frankly rude

Good thing I listened to my body. I knew it was not healing right. Although I did not appreciate the dentist implying that the TMJ I’ve been suffering from was preexisting and not caused by the overly large mouth block he insisted on shoving in there last week, making my jaw pop then and causing pain since.
He acted like the nerve by the wisdom tooth was the issue, and then when he finally saw the thumbnail-sized yellow lump hanging over my molar, he said he could cut it off to reduce the pain, pressure, and healing time. Yay… More stitches, more saline washes and more stupid soup. I am going to be sick of soup for a while after this month. 😆😓 I mentioned the NSAIDs he prescribed last week were not strong enough and I said, before they went in, that I was not numb enough last time or this time. They shrugged it off and said “sorry.” 😓 Yeah… Definitely not going back, provided this heals for real this time.
I hope my migraine and TMJ ease up soon so I can heal and get back to eating normally hopefully by the end of this week. Again I was not prepared for surgery, but at least I anticipated that I’d need some kind of intervention and was smart and had a bowl of soup before I went in. Hopefully once I take the hydrocodone before bed, I’ll start getting relief (Advil is definitely not enough by itself no matter the dosage. Nerve pain is the pits and apparently nothing will numb me enough to make surgery less painful, so I get to feel Everything. Lovely way to learn this about myself… 😑 I hate my overreactive, chronic pained body…

#the one source of oral health advice you can always trust: yuri manga#you can stick em right back in there or (as stated here) put it in milk to keep the pulp alive while you haul ass to the dentist#to be clear you should also go to the dentist if you DO manage to put it back in the socket. and theres no point in doing it for baby teeth

Pretty sure it’s not an infection because heat make feel better, and generally speaking heat bad for infection and cold good.

everytime i see skincare morning routine whatever videos on pinterest im like damn you guys are ruining your enamel
#im not a dentist obviously but i do not a lot about what things are and whats good and bad bc my mom has been an assistant most of my life#and before i was born. she switches up jobs sometimes but she ends up going back to dentistry#anyways i know many dentists and oral surgeons and dental assistants and so on some pretty close family friends now so i know a lot about#whats good and bad for your teeth and a lot of obscure knowledge like how to operate a pax 3d pan ceph#long rant of background complete so here is my advice:#STOP USING CHARCOAL TOOTHPASTE EVERYDAY. you are wearing down your enamel you are begging for future teeth problems#actually in general be cautious with over whitening. it can start to damage your teeth it is not good to use every day#stop trying to compensate when you brush your teeth. if you struggle with forgetting or just generally not brushing your teeth everyday -#do not try and SCRUB your teeth and gums when you do. if done frequently it will cause gum recession which can be a big issue#just brush your teeth normally and floss and if you have really bad build up its best to go get a professional cleaning.#best to get done yearly but its expensive without good insurance so i dont blame you if you dont.#occasionally gum disease can be spread by kissing. im just saying this because its freaked me out since childhood and i want other people#- to know.#i could do more but idk if anyone is reading the tags. anyways if you are ever having mouth problems feel free to ask me#i have lots of medical professionals near me that can answer your question its like a free consultation lol my friends do it all the time

To whatever dentist that decided to shave my canines to match what were mostly baby teeth at the time. Thank you not only do i look slightly stupid but you fucking over did it a smidge , and now im in fucking pain you silly shit. why did god think it would be so funny to give me a terrible terrible phobia of anything to do with losing teeth or tooth pain or infection while also forcing me to go through some of the most horrifying tooth related ailments
#HOLE INNY GUMS HOLE IN MY GUMS HOLE IN MY GUMS KILL ME KILL ME KILL ME#so like. started feeling real bad pain around my upper left wisdom tooth a week ago.#scared it was an abscess or infection of some sort so immediately got scheduled at the dentist.#tuesday they did the exam and just said i need to get all my wisdom teeth out . this much i already knew but its so spensive :'-)#and i was like 'so no infection or abscess? its just from the tooth itself?'#they were like yup#and gave me a referral to an oral surgeon that ended up not even being covered by my insurance lol 🖕#so i have had to call around myself#the one office that has gotten back to me so far. said that my insurance would cover up to 1500. and i would still be another 1500 out of#out of pocket#fml fml fml so hardbi dont even have that much in savings.#so called two more offices about it. did that yesterday evening after both were already closed#and now ots the weekend so it won't be til monday that they get back to me#so i need to be quoted on how much it'll be total#then i need to know if anyone will let me do monthly payments.#haha anyway that was a tangent and not even what im most freaked out about#so. yesterday. looked in the mirror with my phone flashlight pointed at the back of my mouth#THERES A HOOOOOLE#🕳️#APPARENTLY THATS SEMI NORMAL BUT I CANT TAKE IT MENTALLY LOL.
