Man, I hadn't looked around DeviantART in a while, but that site really got completely overrun by AI, didn't it? Flamekeeper: a c!Niki Zine has opened moderator applications. We will be recruiting one graphics/formatting mod, one art mod, one finance mod, and at least one assistant mod to help us on this project.

We're looking for trustworthy people, preferably with experience working on other zines. Moderators will not be paid, as the zine is not for profit. You must be 18 or older to be considered.

Position descriptions:

We will be recruiting one graphics mod to design graphics for social media and take charge of the zine's final layout and design. Applicants with past experience making zine layouts are encouraged for this position.

We will be recruiting one finance mod to payment for the zine and merch bundles, and shipping of physical components of the zine. This is a P4P zine, so no contributors or moderators will be financially compensated for their work. If there are leftover funds at the end of the project, the finance mod will be responsible for donating them to charity.

We will be recruiting one art mod to assist the artist contributors and offer insight from an artists' standpoint, as both of the head mods are fanfic writers and have no experience with visual art. You may also be asked to create art assets for the zine layout and will work closely with our graphics mod. Experience as an artist is necessary, and past experience with zine moderation is preferred.

We will be recruiting at least one assistant mod to help out other mods with various back-end and managerial tasks, such as contacting contributors, answering their questions, tracking submission, or helping with anything else that other mods don't have time to do. Moderators are people too, and we're all busy in our own ways - assistant mods are here to help lighten the load when necessary! Past experience moderating fandom events is required. Past experience moderating fan zines, specifically, is ideal but not required.

so for Dolezel fictional beings exist in possible worlds. they are not actual beings but possible ones. texts basically create and explain possible worlds and the possible individuals which really inhabit them. sentences about fictional characters actually refer; they refer to possible individuals inhabiting possible worlds.

my position up to now has been that fictional beings exist, but they are incorporeal; they exist in texts, in the imagination, etc. statements about fictional characters actually refer; they refer to incorporeal beings.

this is a 'one-world model' which i think avoids the problems of other one-world models Dolezel is arguing against, but it does fail in one respect which Dolezel's multiple world model doesn't, which is (in the example i used before) i have to say that Zero has no physical form, because she is a character, which is a sort of purely formal entity, which is expressed through a conventionally linked bundle of speech, digital assets and gameplay rhetorics.

'Zero has no physical form' is actually an extremely counterintuitive statement because if Zero has no physical form its unclear how she could kill Five and peg Dito, which we're committed to saying are literally true statements. we achieve that by saying that such statements about fictional events are explicit statements about texts from which the reference to the text has been deleted, ie. 'Zero killed Five and pegged Dito in Drakengard 3 which is a videogame.' this works, but you can see how we're having to add a lot of exceptions and qualifications to normal speech, which is kind of a red flag. in Dolezel's version, Zero is a possible individual from a possible world, and in that world she would have a physical form and could easily kill Five and peg Dito with it. this possible Zero with a physical form is compossible with an actual Zero asset collection (voice acting, model, gameplay) which as we said actually creates and explains her as a possible individual, but it doesn't exhaust her. now our statements about her can refer directly and those statements are actually ontologically homogenous with the voice acting, model, etc., ie. they are all actual performances of a possible Zero.
