Yay - I get to share my love for tidbit Hazbin lore while sharing knowledge that makes me look like a millennial boomer XD Ahem... Alastor, our favorite overlord, for all intents and purposes, is a fucking elemental. His abilities are absolutely terrifying from a scientific standpoint. Okay, so remember how during the "Stayed Gone" number, Vox starts glitching out and "loses his signal" - then the Pride ring subsequently has a blackout? That is entirely Alastor's (or whatever-the-fuck-is-benefactoring-him's) doing. A powerful enough radio signal can do that. No horseshoe magnet required. IRL real shiz. Despite being digital enough to render a bluescreen while compromised, Vox might still have older hardware from his former days as a rabbit-eared, extra-thick thick cathode-ray tube.
Tumblr media
And Alastor is our radio demon. Keep this in mind. IRL, once upon a time during the 1940s - before digital television - there was no "Channel 1". That's because in the US, a very long time ago, both radio and TV shared the band that we call "Channel One":
"Until 1948, Land Mobile Radio and television broadcasters shared the same frequencies, which caused interference. This shared allocation was eventually found to be unworkable, so the FCC reallocated the Channel 1 frequencies for public safety and land mobile use and assigned TV channels 2–13 exclusively to broadcasters. Aside from the shared frequency issue, this part of the VHF band was (and to some extent still is) prone to higher levels of radio-frequency interference (RFI) than even Channel 2 (System M)." (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Channel_1_(North_American_TV))
Then for a short stint, Channel One was exclusively reserved for radio:
Channel 1 was allocated at 44–50 MHz between 1937 and 1940. Visual and aural carrier frequencies within the channel fluctuated with changes in overall TV broadcast standards prior to the establishment of permanent standards by the National Television Systems Committee. In 1940, the FCC reassigned 42–50 MHz to the FM broadcast band. Television's channel 1 frequency range was moved to 50–56 MHz. Experimental television stations in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles were affected. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Channel_1_(North_American_TV))
Every local TV channel and radio station has a frequency range on the electromagnetic spectrum. For those who still listen to radio on non-internet-reliant radios devices, those funny little numbers next to a station's name are a ballpark number for the frequency the station broadcasts in the Hertz unit. A Hertz (Hz) is one wave per second. A KiloHertz (KHz) is 1,000 waves per second. A GigaHertz (GHz) is 1 billion waves per second. Modern AM radio stations are 535-1605 kHz Modern FM radio stations are 88-108 MHz   TV VHF Channels 2 thru 13 are 54-216 MHz TV UHF Channels 14 thru 36 are 470-608 MHz And no, that's not a discrepancy between VHF and FM radio: the frequencies designated for FM radio are nestled right in there with TV ones - between Channels 6 and 7.
Tumblr media
(chart from http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/Audio/radio.html) Even today, radio and TV are slightly shuffled in there in regards to designated frequencies. This implies that depending on Alastor's band of preference, if Vox still has some of his older hardware, Vox could, in his sleep, theoretically be able to hear Alastor's broadcasts of screaming victims without a physical radio nearby. IRL in fact, in older televisions where a knob is used to change channels, much of the static you'd hear in-between channels is actually background radiation from deep space - along with any radio interference from man-made sources nearby. No wonder Vox is obsessed with Alastor. Alastor can torment him in an in-between realm-channel daily, like Freddy Kruger.
Tumblr media
Yet, if radio signals were only a Vox problem, why did nearly every light and electronic device go out in the Pride except the emergency lights at the Heaven embassy?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It might depend on how we define the word "radio". Is it radio, as in "those radio stations we can listen to without the internet"? Maybe radio, as in "any frequency utilized in modern communications, including TV and Radio"? Or is it radio, as in "almost any signal on the electromagnetic spectrum with a frequency lower than friggin' heat?" People, below is an IRL over-simplified chart of the electromagnetic spectrum and its usages by human.
Tumblr media
When radio is defined as a specific part of the electromagnetic spectrum, it is basically any frequency below infrared. *** Cellphone service and WiFi use radio signals within this range. Most cellular services are between 600 MHz and 39 GHz WiFi routers are about 2.4-5 GHz (6 GHz in newer models)  That's where the "G" in "4G" and "5G" come from - the "G" stands for "Gigahertz" Radio, local television, cellphone service, WiFi, and basically any point in the internet that isn't linked by a landline - these are all safely within the part of the electromagnetic spectrum that the scientists would call "radio". If Hell's technology is supposed to mirror the real world, then most electronic devices need radio frequencies in order to communicate. The VVV's empire is truly fucked, should Alastor so choose. The only plot hole in this explanation I see is why all the lights went out. These devices don't run on radio - they communicate using it. My best-educated guess is that the on/off switch for Hell's power grid is on an open network and at least part of it wireless. Or maybe Alastor's radio attack works like a general EMP and he can just break stuff by "brute force". (I am not an expert on these sorts of things like telecommunication... or network security... or physics.... I politely ask that someone in the comments, please enlighten me U.U ) ------------------------------------- Also, notice that Alastor's Tower, Cannibal Town and the Heaven Embassy were the only regions with lights on during the blackout.
Tumblr media
is that...?
Tumblr media
Cannibal Town?
Tumblr media
If this is, in fact, Cannibal Town, then my only guess is that the Cannibals are so hipster, many of them only light their homes and businesses with candlelight and leviathan whale oil. Neither candlelight nor oil-burning rely on wifi. Only some of their region's light was lost in the blackout. They might use some electricity (as many during the Victorian era did, which Cannibal Town seems to be inspired by), but they don't fully rely upon electricity. This suggests that Alastors friendship with Rosie might be less of an organic friendship and more like a strategically slick alliance. Rosie's territory is one part of Pride that Alastor can't completely shut down (other than the Embassy). But, who knows?
Tumblr media
Alastor's derision of modern tech now seems to have more merit than just being "hipster", or avoiding leaving a digital footprint that Vox can manipulate, (the latter of which I once head-canoned before this epiphany). Alastor can literally just shut most of Hell's tech down. This might also suggest why Alastor is homies with Zestial - another known old-timey prick.
Tumblr media
Alastor makes alliances with demons he can't easily overpower with his abilities. This might seem self-contradictory to Alastor's seeming over-confidence in teasing Lucifer - until you realize he did this only after he learned angels could be killed during the Overlords' meeting. (And yes, I know what I wrote about Alastor a couple of tumbl notes back with the "popsicle" evaluation. I do not consider flip-flopping a moral issue if done so by epiphany. That note stays, because it's funny XD ) ----------------------- Another theory! Ok, so this theory isn't entirely my own-own, I'm just building off of it based on what I've just said (mostly Roo stuff). So IRL, scientists decided to take an image of the observable universe in the microwave range. Microwave energy is in the upper ends of radio, but just below infrared in frequency. What they found was cosmic background radiation - a lot of energy that isn't coming from the stars themselves.
Tumblr media
(Image source: https://www.space.com/33892-cosmic-microwave-background.html) Some scientists theorize this is because this particular energy is left over from the formation of the universe. So about Roo:
In the first non-pilot episode, The Story of Hell, as read by Charlie, states that the angels of pure light "worshipped good and shielded all from evil." During this line, imagery of two faces are shown before the angels: one face of light and another face of twisted red and black.
Tumblr media
Subsequent lines and imagery in the episode suggest that this "evil" existed before Lucifer fell or Eve allowed this evil to enter the world - even before the Earth was created. Some Tumblrs who have been in this fandom longer than I have may know of Roo, a character that appears in some of VivziePop's older works within the Hazbin/Hellaverse. Some of Roo's monikers include "The Root of All Evil" and the "Tree of Knowledge". I'm wondering if in the Hellaverse, the cosmic background radiation of the universe is a manifestation of Roo when she isn't bound to a tree. Could Alastor's radio powers come Roo, the background "dark" energy of the universe's birth? Did Alastor bite the apple the second third time for mankind? XD
------------------------------------------------- While researching for this paper, I learned that microwave ovens and 2G cell phones operate within the same frequencies at around 2 GHz. Apparently, the only reason cell phones don't cook our brains is because the wattage is too low. (I dunno what wattage means. I'm not a scientist.) But now, Alastors singing lines in S1E8 had me thinking: "The constraints of my deal surely have a back door  Once I figure out how to unclip my wings,  guess who will be pulling all the strings" Knowing what Alastor is capable of with radio, this has me wondering if Alastor's radio powers are coming from one source, all while be is being chained by another entity entirely. Someone might have gone out of their way to get Alastor into a contract - if only to keep him from literally baking the universe for his viewing pleasure... on a rotating glass plate.
Tumblr media
Being able to cook a soul in microwaves would require that they be at least partially made of water, however. Buuuut... I guess if there are working ACs in Hell, I really shouldn't read too much into it XD -------------
Do you think the mad scientists from Helluva Boss, Lyle Lipton and Loopty Goopty, ever chat over coffee about the abilities of the overlords based on casual observation?
Tumblr media
One day, Alastor's name comes up... ...and after four minutes of discussing facts over coffee, they're both just like "Nope"?
XD {END} *** Note: Googling "Electromagnetic Spectrum charts" will yield different results. Some charts will have different designations frequencies lower than radio, like Extremely Low Frequencies (ELF). I do not know whether this difference is a reflection of a newer categorization, or if most charts online are made for laymen such as myself. Most charts I saw years ago only designated "radio" as "everything below microwave". I want to assume that the "only radio below microwave" categorization went into the writer's designing of Alastor's character simply because such charts are more common (while also making for a more interesting power scaling).
______________ Disclaimer: I am composed of chauffeur knowledge. I know nearly nothing about communication science little about radiation stuff. I took an astronomy elective in college once, so I sorta knew where to look when it came to frequency stuff. I have no idea what the fuck I'm talking about. I know that I confused frequency and wavelength somewhere. Please, #sciencesideoftumblr feel free to correct me. ----------------- TLDR: Most tech IRL uses radio waves to communicate. That Includes TVs, WiFi and cell phones. Alastor can make the Pride Ring go kaploowee if he looks at it funny. I don't know what he's cooking.

Wing It starts tonight!
It airs live at 11pm (23:00) GMT on BBC Radio 4.
As a reminder, you can listen online on the BBC Sounds website or you can download the BBC Sounds app (there are a few countries where this is unavailable). If you're in the UK and have a radio/anything that receives FM or digital radio, you can do that too, but I imagine most people will listen online.
Don't worry if you miss it or can't listen live. It will be available to listen to after.
Here is where you can listen LIVE online: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/live:bbc_radio_fourfm
Here is where you can find the episodes to listen to AFTER it's aired: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0025ssb
Or download the BBC Sounds app from whichever app store you use (but if you can't/don't want to, it's easy to listen via a browser, even on mobile). You can use the app to both listen live and stream later, plus you can download episodes.
Tonight's episode features: Steen Raskopoulos, Cariad Lloyd, Emma Sidi and the lovely AJ (and the host is Alasdair Beckett-King)
There's still time to listen to the pilot episode (with a different host, the wonderful Mr Mike Wozniak), if you haven't yet or would like to listen again. You can find it here:
Please support this if you love SFTH! It's hard to explain that it's a big deal for them to get a radio show (and on the station Sam produces for!) when they're already big on the internet/have sell-out live shows, but it's still really significant that they've made something for "traditional" media. It's so hard to get anything like this made! Although not quite as hard as getting a TV show off the ground...
Remember that the more people who listen, the greater chance of a second series!

So... you imagine DoL set in the early 2000s? ME TOO. Tell me more about that!
aaaaaaa yes I do!!!! (Sorry for the late reply haha. I kept forgetting to come back to this ask) I think I started to feel that way pretty early on, since there's hardly any electronics around in game.
You don't have access to a phone yourself (which, admittedly makes sense as an orphan) but electronics get barely mentioned in general. (I'm guessing the true reason for it, is that it would be too much of a hassle to implement electronics as a mechanic in game. bc arguably you should easily be able to buy a phone or w/e later on, if dol actually took place in our time) Named npcs often have phones to record you with (which I kinda forgot about tbh lmao) but unless in that context, phones don't get brought up at all iirc. None of the named npcs ever ask you for your phone number and Social media isn't really a topic of conversation either.
The only Computers that I remember mentioned in game are Leightons, Mickey's, Kylars and the one you can check in the police station. (I don't remember if Bailey even has one or not.) They are far and few between. They also all read as desktop computers to me and not laptops. Hell, the only gaming Console to ever be a topic of interest, is Robins. I don't think we hear of/see any handheld conosles at all. Even TV's rarely get mentioned.
Pop Culture, like manga, anime and games doesn't seem to be a big thing yet either.
All of that gives me the impression that most electronic is still pretty sparse and hard to come around and kinda reminds me of my childhood when those interests where still conisdered niche/nerdy and weird. The few characters that have desktop pc's seem to be ones that had/have enough money (like Kylar, maybe Bailey?) to foot the bill, are either in a high enough position of power to own one (like leighton) or they're involved enough in shady business that they might have the resources to have their own equipment (Mickey).
tbf a lot of my reasoning can be argued against or easily explained away, but I think dol is infinitely more interesting as a game/story when it's set during the early/mid 2000s, where most electronics were still hard to come by.
Oh and last but not least: it simply makes for easier story telling haha. I think there would be way more ""plot holes"" you'd have trouble explaining away if it was set during modern times. considering how much digital surveilance we have nowadays.
Aside from all the examples I just brought up, dol just has that 2000s grime to me. It's so grungy and dank in it's vibes that it always reminds me of that timeframe. Just has that kinda clunky/kitschy charm to it. (a more eclectic personal explanation is that the seasons in game still feel the way I remember them for my childhood. nowadays everything feels really out of wack thanks to global warming. Although I'm sure that people who are older than me would say the same haha)
to keep this already long post short(er lmao) I'm gonna go into some headcanons under the cut; Basically which Characters have electronics and why:
Avery: has an expensive af and extremely clunky looking (by todays standards) work laptop, that she sometimes lugs around. Also owned one of the first mobile phones. Those really big and blocky ones. Maybe even had one of those phones that were built into cars. However, I think shed be kinda annoyed by mobile phones*, even if she's extremely diligent in answering her calls. (the grind never stops) *based on this comic from 1919 about pocketphones: Mostly because she strikes me as someone who doesn't care to be overly accessible and also hates it when whatever shes doing at the moment gets disrupted by something else.
Tumblr media
Alex: Canonically has a phone in game. To me it's a landline phone. They don't own much electronics beside it. They have no desktop pc and no mobile phone. (canonically the own a tv and I feel like they'd have a radio, maybe even an old record player) Bailey: It would make sense for them to have a desktop computer but I can't remember if they canonically (and with that I mean in game) do have one or not. I could see it either way tbh. As they strike me as a stubborn hard ass whos paranoid about electronics and quickly gets annoyed by it) They only own burner phones aside from the official landline phone thats designated for "over the counter" orphanage business. Eden: Has an old ass radio and an extremely dusty burner phone that bailey gave them once. They don't own anything else
Harper: has a mobile phone they got from Remy, it's purely for business. I don't think they have one for personal business. They own a pager though bc of the hospital. They probably have a desktop pc too if only for hospital stuff.
Kylar: Has a Desktop pc, their parents footed the bill for that many screened monstrosity (tbf i dont know enough to remember if old pcs are even able to have several monitors connected to them or not). Probably had a mobile phone once. Whitney stole it. They own a few consoles but they prefer pc gaming (pc master race /j) Some 2000s era games (with no consideration for an exact timeframe) that I think Kylar would be into are : Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines American McGee's Alice Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 / Persona 3 Portable The Urbz: Sims in the City The Sims 2 The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
Robin: No mobile phone, the only electronics they keep around (until they inevitably need to sell them for emergency money) are an old tv and a gaming console. I have no concrete headcanons regarding the exact console and games unfortunately. (They seem to like superhero related stuff and I don't remember enough games that I associate with that direction of the top of my head)
Sydney: Has access to a landline phone but thats it. they don't have a mobile phone. Maybe they got to look at/ try out a pc at Kylars house once upon a time, but I don't think Sirris has one themself. I might be off with this but I could see Sirris being the one who bought a few early nintendo consoles like the SNES and Game Cube. Maybe even a gameboy.
Whitney: I don't think Whitney or their family is particularly wealthy so all of the access to electronics that they got, is either through wealthier friends, bullying or stealing. They have a mobile phone and probably a few handheld consoles they nabbed off their victims (in secret).

gayass gundam fanfiction wip kabloowie
'Alright, Amuro. That's two done. Only one more to go.' Sayla's voice scratched over the radio. The air was thick with Minovsky particles and it was hard to make out her words. But Amuro knew them. Felt them before they left her throat.
His hands shook as he gripped the controls. His breathing was laboured. The last Zaku he'd taken out- the pilot had screamed for mercy as Amuro had cleaved it in two. He'd seen his face through the gap his beam sword made in the metal. Felt his terror as if his own.
Amuro had to do it. He had to. For White Base. For his friends.
"Above you!" Sayla sounded terrified. Amuro glanced up as a flash of red collided with the chest of the Gundam. Forcing it downwards. Amuro scrambled for the controls but was too slow. His metal simulacrum hit the surface of the water and Amuro was jostled violently in his chair- his head hitting the control panel with a sickening THUD. The noise of his glass visor cracking made his heart fall into his gut.
"Amuro! Amuro, what happened! We need your help! We've been hit and —— Bright can't——" Amuro could hear the fear in her voice, and the sirens of White Base as they blared behind her. She kept braking up.
"Ms Sayla! I-I can't!" He kept trying the thrusters but they wouldn't work. The ocean continued to swallow him down. Surely the Gundam functioned underwater. He could've sworn it did.
"—muro————you——" The ghost of Sayla's voice drifted through the fog of static spewing from the radio. She couldn't help him. White Base was out of reach and, therefore, Amuro couldn't help them. They were in trouble and he was suck- swallowed by increasingly dark water on all sides.
"Ms Sayla! Ms Sayla come in!" No response. Even the static was getting quieter. "Fraw?! Fraw are you there?" Nothing. "Mr Bright? Mirai? Hayato? Ryu…" His voice cracked, losing steam. Another name welled in the back of his throat. Maybe, possibly, She would answer, but he dared not invoke Her name. It died on his lips with a croak.
It was getting colder as the Gundam drifted down. Without earth's sunlight to broil the cockpit, he felt almost frigid in his flightsuit- as insulated as it was. The water around him was black, now, and for a moment it felt like he was back in space. Helping the ship leave Side 7, almost burning up in re-entry, facing Char. He forgot he was falling- it was impossible to tell what was up or down.
The metal of the Gundam began to creak around him (something about the pressure of deep water? He half remembered a lecture from Bright while they were in Dublin). Amuro peeled his trembling, sweaty hands off the controls and wrapped his arms around himself, curling into a ball.
His heart pounded in his ears. He didn't want to die like this. Tears welled in his eyes- blurring his vision. He blinked them away and they floated in place behind his fractured visor. He should focus on restraining his breathing, surely his air would be limited, but he couldn't steady his breaths- drawing in frequent, sobbing gasps despite himself.
This was it. He'd failed. He was going to suffocate down here or get crushed or have water seep into the cockpit and fill his lungs and there was nothing he could do to prevent it. Without him there to protect them, White Base would surely… His friends would…
Amuro Ray snapped his eyes open. Groaning, he pressed the balls of his palms into his sockets, drawing them back damp with tears. That damned dream again. He'd been having it ever since he'd faced the Goggs in Ireland. Something about the ocean unsettled him; It was deeper than any body of water on the sides, it felt almost like space to be in but not at all to manuver a mobile suit through, both as expansive and constrictive as time. He always cried. He hated it. It reminded him of Her. He hated thinking of Her.
Making another indigent noise, he turned his head to the digital clock on his nightstand. 04:37. Great. Delightful.
There was no point in trying to get back to sleep. It took him hours to even consider sleeping again after a nightmare (which was a damn shame with how frequent they were) and he needed to be up early, regardless. The Audhumla was new to him, and he'd been out of combat for so long, he wanted to get a good look around before anything kicked off (as it inevitably would. It always would. There was no rest for the wicked, after all).
He hadn't got to scope the ship out properly yesterday, too preoccupied with- with-
Amuro shot up in his bed, suddenly aware of the humming presence in the back of his skull. The pull. Char was here. Char.
Amuro. His voice replied in his head. Clear as day. Up early, I see.
"Fuck off." Amuro spoke aloud to the empty air of his small room. The sound bouncing off the blank, white walls. The bastard in the recesses of his skull chuckled, reverberating through his grey matter. Amuro shivered- disliking the sensation. He ground his teeth.

In statements made regarding discrepancies in a Gundam Ace magazine interview, Kadokawa and Bandai Namco Filmworks appears to deny the widly accepted interpretation of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury's finale that female characters Suletta and Miorine are married, saying, "We would like to leave its interpretation up to the perspective of each individual viewer who has seen and enjoyed the story."

On July 30, Bandai Namco Filmworks (previously known as Sunrise) addressed differences between the print and digital versions of an interview with voice actresses Kana Ichinose and Lynn. Ichinose and Lynn voice Sulleta and Miorine, respectively, in The Witch From Mercury, the latest entry in Bandai Namco's long-running Mobile Suit Gundam franchise.
In the interview's print version, which was published in the September issue of the Gundam Ace magazine, Ichinose refers Sulleta and Miorine's union:
I liked the epilogue scene where Miorine rests her head on Suletta's shoulder. After three years, I could feel that they were much closer, and seeing the two of them get married really touched my heart.
However, fans noticed that as of July 28, the digital version was edited to exclude the line about the characters' marriage.
Tumblr media
In a statement released on the Witch From Gundam website and Twitter account, Bandai Namco apologized and explained the situation in their statement, saying, "In the article, there was a statement based on the speculation of the Gundam Ace editor, and despite requesting revisions during proofreading, the corrections to the passage were not reflected in the July 26 release."
Kadokawa, which publishes Gundam Ace, released a similar statement that likewise attributed the discrepancy to an editor's speculation, along with management and proofreading errors. Translated copies of both statements are available below.
The relationship between Miorine and Suletta garnered praise for its LGBTQ+ representation. A scene from the first episode where the two become engaged after Suletta wins Miorine's hand in a duel went viral online in 2022. Their relationship became a central part of the narrative, and they remained engaged for the majority of the anime's two-season run, which concluded on July 2.
The anime also gives copious evidence that the two are now married. After a time skip, the two women are seen sitting together while wearing matching wedding rings on their left hands and say, "Let's go home," implying that they live together. Additionally, Eri, Suletta's sister, refers to herself as Miorine's "sister-in-law."
Given this evidence, most took it for granted that Suletta and Miorine were now married, including their voice actors, who spoke about their relationship in the Asticassia Radio Committee program (Majo Raji). They became outraged by the apparent censorship and accused Bandai Namco and Kadokawa of homophobia.

Bandai Namco Filmwork's full statement (translated):
Thank you for your continued support of Mobile Suite Gundam: The Witch From Mercury. Regarding an interview published in the September 2023 issue of Monthly Gundam Ace, some of the descriptions in the paper magazine and digital versions differed, confusing everyone who supported the work. We are genuinely sorry. In the article, there was a statement based on the speculation of the Gundam Ace editor, and despite requesting revisions during proofreading, the corrections to the passage were not reflected in the July 26 release. Regarding the work, we would like to leave its interpretation up to the perspective of each individual viewer who has seen and enjoyed the story. Once again, we would like to sincerely apologize for causing so much trouble and worry to everyone who supports the work. Thank you for your continued support. July 30, 2023 Bandai Namco Filmworks
Kadokawa's full statement (translated):
Regarding the Mobile Suite Gundam: The Witch From Mercury interview published in the September 2023 issue of Monthly Gundam Ace, some of the descriptions differ between the paper magazine and digital version. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience we caused to everyone. During the proofreading process, there was a statement based on the editor's speculation, and although Bandai Namco Filmworks pointed out the error, the correction was admitted due to a mistake, and it was released on July 26. This incident was caused by management and proofreading errors by the editorial department. After consulting with Bandai Namco Filmworks, which owns the rights, the digital version was edited with the correction it had initially indicated. Once again, we apologize for causing confusion and misunderstanding. We will strive to prevent this from happening again by strengthening the editorial department's confirmation system. Digital Radio Mondiale press release:
Digital Radio Mondiale DRM Delivers Distance Education – An Excellent First for Africa and the World
April 10, 2025
The DRM Consortium, in cooperation with St Joseph's Senior Secondary School in the Gambian capital, Banjul, has conducted its first public demonstration of an innovative project to deliver education at a distance via radio on April 8th.
In a Gambian, African and world first for digital radio, a maths lesson from the Encompass Media Services Woofferton transmitting station in the UK was broadcast (on 15390 kHz and 21740 kHz), over 4,000 kilometers to The Gambia. A group of 15-year-old students received audio and text lessons transmitted via DRM shortwave. The content was made available to their tablets, mobiles through a local Wi-Fi connection to the radio.
The demonstration showcased the ability of DRM digital radio to deliver lessons in multiple languages as the key audio lessons were in English followed by two AI-generated versions in French and German.
A central component of the broadcast, alongside the audio, was a digital textbook (Journaline), showcasing how the lesson content — including graphics — can be made available in several languages, both as a live accompaniment and for on-demand access.
The on-demand use for the distance transmitted lessons (the cached lessons) was shown at the public event held at the St Joseph's Senior Secondary School in the presence of other students, teachers, VIPs and the press.
As the technology only requires a single transmitter thousands of miles or kilometres away, the lessons can be delivered entirely remotely or supported by teachers locally; this proved that educational content can be delivered, without the need of IP or internet.
The revolutionary new application of Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) technology is designed to remove barriers to education for populations most in need worldwide. The technology also has applications in areas such as medicine and religious education.
The tablets used for this e-learning demonstration were donated to the school in Banjul as part of the commitment to supporting continued learning and access to technology by the DRM Consortium and the key members which supported this ground-breaking demonstration.

On Shortwave Radiogram, we can also transmit lessons for schools outside the reach of the internet. We can't transmit voice like DRM does, but we can transmit text, and we can transmit the image of a triangle. And all of this can be received in reception conditions in which the DRM signal may drop out.
The subject of the DRM transmission was triangles. Here is our lesson on triangles …
. . .
If we, in the following triangle, draw the altitude from the vertex of the right angle, then the two triangles that are formed are similar to the triangle we had from the beginning. The two triangles formed are also similar to each other.

△ABC ∼ △BCD ∼ △ABD
The measure of the altitude drawn from the vertex of the right angle to the hypotenuse is the geometric mean between the measures of the two segments of the hypotenuse. Hence BD is the geometric mean of AD and DC.

A federal judge has ordered the Trump administration to restore all jobs and funding for the Voice of America and other US-backed news outlets, ruling that efforts to dismantle it violated the law and Constitution.
Over 1,300 VOA employees, includingKrout 1,000 journalists, were placed on leave following President Donald Trump's order. The White House has accused the broadcaster of being "anti-Trump" and "radical".
VOA, still primarily a radio service, was set up during World War II to counter Nazi propaganda, and has become a major global media broadcaster.
The ruling noted that b}oÜ 3o=MOA0t»tght!hnews for the first time in its 80-year existence ".
Judge Royce Lamberth said the administration acted "without regard to the harm inflicted on employees, contractors, journalists, and media consumers around the world".
He ordered the administration to take steps to restore employees and contractors to the jobs they had prior to the executive order, and to do the same for Radio Free Asia and the Middle East Broadcasting Networks.
The judge found the administration also likely violated the International Broadcasting Act and Congress' power to appropriate funding.
"My colleagues and I are grateful for this ruling. But we know that this is just a small step forward, as the government is likely to appeal," said Patsy Widakuswara, the VOA White House bureau chief and a lead plaintiff in the lawsuit.
"We are committed to continuing to fight against what we believe is the administration's unlawful silencing of VOA until we can return to our congressional mandate: to tell America's stories with factual, balanced, and comprehensive, reporting," she said.
Trump has long criticised VOA as part of his broader attacks against the media, frequently accusing mainstream outlets of bias.
After taking office in January, he appointed a political ally, Kari Lake, to run VOA. Lake has previously supported Trump's false claims that the 2020 election was stolen from him.
In March, Trump ordered the US Agency for Global Media (USAGM), which oversees VOA and funds outlets like Radio Free Europe and Radio Free Asia, to be "eliminated to the maximum extent consistent with applicable law".
A separate judge in New York temporarily blocked the executive order after journalists, advocacy groups and unions sued, arguing the move was unlawful.
Judge Lamberth, who is based in Washington, DC, ruled the Trump administration lacked the authority to shutter VOA, which is funded by Congress and has a legislative mandate to deliver credible news globally.
"It is hard to fathom a more straightforward display of arbitrary and capricious actions than the Defendants' actions here," he wrote.
USAGM and the White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

A major groundswell of nationwide protests against the second Trump administration has arrived.
If you're going to join any protests, as is your right under the First Amendment, you need to think beyond your physical well-being to your digital security, too. The same surveillance apparatus that’s enabling the Trump administration’s raids of undocumented people and targeting of left-leaning activists will no doubt be out in full force on the streets.
Two key elements of digital surveillance should be top of mind for protestors. One is the data that authorities could potentially obtain from your phone if you are detained, arrested, or they confiscate your device. The other is surveillance of all the identifying and revealing information that you produce when you attend a protest, which can include wireless interception of text messages and more, and tracking tools like license plate scanners and face recognition. You should be mindful of both.
After all, police have already demonstrated their willingness to arrest and attack entirely peaceful protesters as well as journalists observing demonstrations. In that light, you should assume that any digital evidence that you were at or near a protest could be used against you.
“The Trump administration is weaponizing essentially every lever of government to shut down, suppress, and curtail criticism of the administration and of the US government generally, and there have never been more surveillance toys available to law enforcement and to US government agencies,” says Evan Greer, the deputy director of the activist organization Fight for the Future, who also wrote a helpful X (then-Twitter) thread laying out digital security advice during the Black Lives Matter protests in the summer of 2020. “That said, there are a number of very simple, concrete things that you can do that make it exponentially more difficult for someone to intercept your communications, for a bad actor to ascertain your real-time location, or for the government to gain access to your private information.”
This story was originally published on May 31, 2020 and updated on June 12, 2025.
Your Phone
The most important decision to make before leaving home for a protest is whether to bring your phone—or what phone to bring. A smartphone broadcasts all sorts of identifying information; law enforcement can force your mobile carrier to cough up data about what cell towers your phone connects to and when. Police in the US have also been documented using so-called stingray devices, or IMSI catchers, that impersonate cell towers and trick all the phones in a certain area into connecting to them. This can give cops the individual mobile subscriber identity number of everyone at a protest at a given time, undermining the anonymity of entire crowds en masse.
“The device in your pocket is definitely going to give off information that could be used to identify you,” says Harlo Holmes, director of digital security at the Freedom of the Press Foundation, a nonprofit press advocacy group. (Disclosure: WIRED’s global editorial director, Katie Drummond, serves on Freedom of the Press Foundation’s board.)
For that reason, Holmes suggests that protesters who want anonymity leave their primary phone at home altogether. If you do need a phone for coordination or as a way to call friends or a lawyer in case of an emergency, keep it off as much as possible to reduce the chances that it connects to a rogue cell tower or Wi-Fi hot spot being used by law enforcement for surveillance. Sort out logistics with friends in advance so you only need to turn your phone on if something goes awry. Or to be even more certain that your phone won’t be tracked, keep it in a Faraday bag that blocks all of its radio communications. Open the bag only when necessary. Holmes herself uses and recommends the Mission Darkness Faraday bag.
If you do need a mobile device, consider bringing only a secondary phone you don’t use often, or a burner. Your main smartphone likely has the majority of your digital accounts and data on it, all of which law enforcement could conceivably access if they confiscate your phone. But don’t assume that any backup phone you buy will grant you anonymity. If you give a prepaid carrier your identifying details, after all, your “burner” phone could be no more anonymous than your primary device. “Don’t expect because you got it from Duane Reade that you’re automatically a character from The Wire,” Holmes cautions.
Instead of a burner phone, Holmes argues that it may be far more practical to simply own a secondary phone that you’ve set up to be less sensitive—leaving off accounts and apps that offer your most private information to anyone who seizes it, such as social media, email, and messaging apps. “Choosing a secondary device that limits the amount of personal data that you have on you at all times is probably your best protection,” Holmes says.
Regardless of what phone you’re using, consider that traditional calls and text messages are vulnerable to surveillance. That means you need to use end-to-end encryption. Ideally, you and those you communicate with should use disappearing messages set to self-delete after a few hours or days. The encrypted messaging and calling app Signal has perhaps the best and longest track record. Just make sure you and the people you’re communicating with are using the same app, since they’re not interoperable.
Aside from protecting your phone’s communications from surveillance, be prepared in the event police seize your device and try to unlock it in search of incriminating evidence. The first order of business is to make sure your smartphone’s contents are encrypted. iOS devices have full disk encryption on by default if you enable an access lock. For Android phones, go to Settings, then Security to make sure the Encrypt Disk option is turned on. (These steps may differ depending on your specific device.)
Regardless of your operating system, always protect devices with a long, strong passcode rather than a fingerprint or face unlock. As convenient as biometric unlocking methods are, it may be more difficult to resist an officer forcing your thumb onto your phone’s sensor, for instance, than to refuse to tell them a passcode. So if you use biometrics day-to-day for convenience, disable them before heading into a protest.
If you insist on using biometric unlocking methods to have faster access to your devices, keep in mind that some phones have an emergency function to disable these types of locks. Hold the wake button and one of the volume buttons simultaneously on an iPhone, for instance, and it will lock itself and require a passcode to unlock rather than FaceID or TouchID, even if they’re enabled. Most devices also let you take photos or record video without unlocking them first, a good way to keep your phone locked as much as possible.
Your Face
Face recognition has become one of the most powerful tools to identify your presence at a protest. Consider wearing a face mask and sunglasses to make it far more difficult for you to be identified by face recognition in surveillance footage or social media photos or videos of the protest. Fight for the Future’s Greer cautions, however, that the accuracy of the most effective face recognition tools available to law enforcement remains something of an unknown, and a simple surgical mask or KN95 may no longer be enough to defeat well-honed face-tracking tech.
Tumblr media
If you’re serious about not being identified, she says, a full-face mask may be far safer—or even a Halloween-style one. “I've seen people wear funny cosplay-style cartoon masks or mascot suits or silly costumes,” says Greer, offering as an example Donald Trump and Elon Musk masks that she’s seen protesters wear at Tesla Takedown protests against Musk and the so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). “That's a great way to defy facial recognition and also make the protest more fun.”
You should also consider the clothes you’re wearing before you head out. Colorful clothing or prominent logos makes you more recognizable to law enforcement and easier to track. If you have tattoos that make you identifiable, consider covering them.
Greer cautions, though, that preventing determined surveillance-empowered agencies from learning the mere fact that you attended a protest at all is increasingly difficult. For those of you in the most sensitive positions—such as undocumented immigrants at risk of deportation—she suggests that you consider staying home rather than depend on any obfuscation technique to mask their presence at an event.
If you’re driving a car to a protest—your own or someone else’s—consider that automatic license plate readers can easily identify the vehicle’s movements. And, in addition to license plates, be aware that these same sensors can also detect other words and phrases, including those on bumper stickers, signs, and even T-shirts.
More broadly, everyone who attends a protest needs to consider—perhaps more than ever before—what their tolerance for risk might be, from mere identification to the possibility of arrest or detention. “I think it's important to say that protesting in the US now comes with higher risks than it used to—it comes with a real possibility of physical violence and mass arrest,” says Danacea Vo, the founder of Cyberlixir, a cybersecurity provider for nonprofits and vulnerable communities. “Even just compared to protests that happened last month, people were able to just show up barefaced and march. Now things have changed.”
Your Online Footprint
Though most privacy and security considerations for attending an in-person protest naturally relate to your body, any devices you bring with you, and your physical surroundings, there are a set of other factors to think about online. It’s important to understand how posts on social media and other platforms before, during, or after a protest could be collected and used by authorities to identify and track you or others. Simply saying on an online platform that you are attending or attended a protest puts the information out there. And if you take photos or videos during a protest, that content could be used to expand law enforcement’s view of who attended a protest and what they did while there, including any strangers who appear in your images or footage.
Authorities can come to your online presence by looking for information about you in particular, but can also arrive there using bulk data analysis tools like Dataminr that offer law enforcement and other customers real-time monitoring connecting people to their online activity. Such tools can also surface past posts, and if you’ve ever made violent comments online or alluded to committing crimes—even as a joke—law enforcement could discover the activity and use it against you if you are questioned or arrested during a protest. This is a particular concern for people living in the US on visas or those whose immigration status is tenuous. The US State Department has said explicitly that it is monitoring immigrants’ and travelers’ social media activity.
In addition to written posts, keep in mind that files you upload to social media might contain metadata like time stamps and location information that could help authorities track protest crowds and movement. Make sure you have permission to photograph or videotape any fellow protesters who would be potentially identifiable in your content. Also think carefully before livestreaming. It’s important to document what’s going on but difficult to be sure that everyone who could show up in your stream is comfortable being included.
Even if you take photos and videos that you don’t plan to post on social media or otherwise share, remember that this media could fall into law enforcement’s hands if they demand access to your device.
With federal crackdowns on protests ramping up around the country, Cyberlixir’s Vo says that people must assess each situation and weigh the benefits of maintaining personal privacy versus chronicling the reality of what’s happening at protests.
“Social media monitoring and online profiling is the factor that lots of people forget. Those who publish footage on social media should avoid sharing photos or videos that reveal people's faces,” she says. “But I also believe that documenting what’s going on is essential, especially in high-risk conditions, because when the state escalates we need proof for legal defense, for public record, for future organizing, and also to keep ourselves physically safe in real time.”
As protests continue—with the real possibility of even further escalated response from the Trump administration—be prepared for the emergence of forms of digital surveillance that have never been used in the US before to counter civil disobedience or to retaliate against protesters after the fact. Protesters will need to stay vigilant, and Fight for the Future’s Greer emphasizes that everyone has different potential vulnerabilities and tolerance for risk. For people of every category of risk, however, a few thoughtful privacy protections can go a long way towards empowering them to hit the streets.
“Part of the goal of governments extending and implementing mass surveillance programs is to scare people and make people think twice before they speak up,” Greer says. “I think that we should be very careful in this moment not to fall into that trap.”

By Blue Eyes, Yellow Will Die - Chapter 2: A Murder Drones story
Tumblr media
"Amanda, make sure everyone's in their rooms, I don't want any interference" Alice command, as she went through her checks.
"Y-yes of course, Alice" the drone woman said, all but running from the main lab room.
"Alright, Beau, you ready for the final exam" Alice said to her son as she waved the port cord in front of his visor.
Beau was ten years old today and if all went well, he'd no longer have to rely on his mother, to get around the lab. That didn't mean he was allowed to grow up - they still didn't have a cure - but his mother had worked out a redesign to allow him more mobility. But, to get his birthday present, he'd have to pass his mother's test.
All drones, especially UNNs, had the ability to transfer their code. It was a necessary ability to allow for Drones to age up their bodies as they got older. Generally speaking this line of code was programmed to be something that just happened when it was time and the new body was prepared; Beau was ten and his pillbaby unit was constantly informing him and his mother that he was ready for transfer (a pop up that Alice had put to sleep because without a cure, she considered allowing her son to age, to be the equivalent of placing him in the hands of Yellow Eyes). That didn't mean that his mother wasn't preparing him for the day he would be transferred. Rather, she was preparing him to be adaptable, on the very real chance that the day he grows up was the day he would face Yellow Eyes.
The idea behind the tests was simple, a digital rat's maze complete with check points, the execution was a little different. All Beau had to do was leave his body - which his mother would then connect to the end of the "maze" -, go through several machines via, wire cords, radio waves and a self activating email as well as completing several tasks within each machine ... simple.
"You'll be fine, Beau," Alice said, her empty hand coming up to pat his head, "it's nothing you haven't done before, it's just all been put together, and if you really need an out, I've got an emergency extraction ready."
Beau took a breath, this was it, looking at his mother and then the port cord, he gave a smile and Alice plugged him into the maze.
There's a moment between the plug and the the full download where Beau was still able to see from his UNN visor before he's fully entered the digital realm, in that moment, he knows his mother can't see his eyes, but he can see her. His first memory of her was her tears, her fear, his second memory was seeing her command the lab drones to put the place back in order, knife tail whipping back and forth, he doesn't remember what happened to caused these events, but he remembers a ferocity in her voice, in her eyes. In this moment, however, as he transfered out of his body, this moment where she thought he couldn't see her, he could see her fear; he'd taken early extraction before, not again, for his mother's sake he'd finish the test in one go - download complete.
"Alright Beau, ya hear me" Alice said into the mic of the observation board that would track his progress, and also the only way she would be able to talk to him while he was in the maze.
A green light on the observation board, flickered - yes.
"You good in there?"
The green light again.
"Alright, starting the timer, you've got an hour, begin."
Green light.
The maze was isolated to the room his mother waited in, that didn't mean he didn't have access to whatever else was in digital reach. Doors of temptation, if he went through just one, if he found the right one ... but he couldn't, he's seen the tapes of the other solver weilders, even if he was able to find a way to leave, to grow, his mother had shown him his code, had shown him the marks on his digital soul. The moment Yellow Eyes knew he existed ...
The image of his mother's fear came to mind once more and he got to work. Diligently he made his way through the task of the first machine before traveling by cord to the next. Fifty minutes left. Second machine, the tasks here would allow him to move the blocky device and have it plug itself into the third machine. Thirty-five minutes. Here he had to travel a constant back and forth between machine three and four via radio waves to have access to the fifth. Fifteen minutes left as he sent himself to the fifth machine via self activating email.
"Alice" came a scream of pure fright that was picked up by the observation board mic.
"Connie, back to your room or so help me-!"
"The sky demons, they found an access point!"
"-Lock down, get everyone to the safe points, I'm releasing the sentinels, anyone not behind a door by then can get scrapped."
The sound of a door opening, closing and locking.
"Beau, Beau, the test is over, we'll try another time, I'm extracting you now"
As frustrated as he was, Beau knew better then to continue the test - the digital finish line that was his body was removed to halt the win conditions that would have allowed him access. As he waited for the extraction door to open, he felt an odd glitch in machine five, curious, he opened one of the forbidden doors to give himself access to the cameras and felt his code run cold. There, just out there he could see one of the sky demons and he swore that she could see him - the red light, the red light that turns on when the cameras are on! Quickly, he shut off the cameras but if the monsters didn't know someone had seen them, then now they had something to hunt.
"Beau" Alice shouted, finally getting his attention, "Beau, can you hear me?"
Green light.
"The extraction point isn't working, one of those monsters must have sent a signal or something, I need you to check if anything's been lock inside."
Scanning the digital premise he found a message. One way, no tails, no way for the sender to come through but as it sense his gaze, it opened:
Sender: SD-G
Topic: From Cyn
I see you :3
"Beau, Beau, did you find anything?"
Green light.
"Good or bad"
Red light.
"Stay where you are and keep yourself together, I'm doing a manual extraction."
From where he was, Beau could see the message shifting, he couldn't wait for a manual extraction, even if the sender couldn't come through they had sent something and that something was growing. Searching, Beau began rebuilding the maze, he couldn't activate the win condition but if he could leave then his mother could destroy machine five and the message. Picking up on the threads he had used to travel he picked his target before freezing, if Yellow Eyes could see him then how long had she been watching the test for the sky demons to show up now? Recalculating on a hunch, Beau pick a diffrent target and hit send.
When he opened his eyes, he found himself surrounded by sentinels, as they left their individual stables, filing out of the room to begin their hunt. Keeping himself calm he followed them into battle. The next three hours was a massacre as Beau's code took full control of the sentinel, as Beau's code slowly came to realize the age of this current body. Beau knew there was a reason his mother hadn't allowed him to grow up. There's a type of temporary madness that comes over a solver weilder when the power reaches it's full strength, a madness when the weilder faces an inescapable high stress, when the hunger for oil becomes too much. Right now, all he could smell was oil.
~
"BEAU!"
His sight was blurred, shaking his head, he looked around as everything came into focus, coming to, he saw the bodies of sky demons piled high as sentinels fought over limbs and heads. Where had the voice come from?
"Beau, Beau, can you hear me" his mother asked from inside his mind, "okay, good, Beau, listen to me, I need you to round up the sentinels, get them back to their room then get yourself back here, I've set up a landing place, just get back here."
Going on autopilot, he followed his mother's orders and when he finally found himself back in his own body his eyes were hollow.
"Hey there, bud, can you see me."
His eyes tracked over to his mother and he cried.
"Oh, bud" she said as she took him into her arms, "shh, shh, it's alright, I trashed old Yellow Eyes' nasty little surprise, I promise, I'm right here, I won't let her get you."
Sometime after, Max and Jerom, who had been ordered to lead the clean up that ended up being more of a collection as several sky demon cores were found intact, came to deliverer the cores that were soon jarred, given the labeled "corrupted" and placed in Alice's ovens. The next day Beau would receive his operation to allow for mobility with his mother even repurposing one of the monster's arms for his use. He was now ten years and one day old and Yellow Eyes knew he existed.

A New Ocean Is Forming in Africa

Now you can send drone technology through lava navigating deep inside of these lava flows. Now the technology you need to communicate back and forth is neutron messaging.

Scientists send encoded message through rock via neutrino beam
Mar 14, 2012 · Scientists have for decades contemplated communicating across long
So actually, now we can start communicating directly through the earth!!! So we can stand on one side of the earth and send a message directly through the core of the earth and out the other side, and that person can receive the message.... so instead of going into space, we can keep messaging within the planet... oh, instead of our stuff going out into the universe, our stuff would go through the earth and come out the other side connecting directly to that person...
That's right, as Live Science puts it: "For the first time, scientists have used neutrinos — the exotic fundamental particles that routinely pass right through Earth — to send a message through the ground." Now, we're a long way from being able to send a note to someone on the other side of the world through the world.Mar 15, 2012
https://www.npr.org › 2012/03/15
First Neutrino Message Sent Through Rock; Could
But to make this happen, we have to use low energy neutrons, high energy neutrons can get trapped in the earth.
About 100 trillion neutrinos pass through your body every second. Now, scientists have demonstrated that the Earth stops energetic neutrinos—they do not go through everything.
So remember, we're sending neutrons in a communication, so we already have the ability to generate them, send them and receive them!
They come straight through the earth at nearly the speed of light, all the time, day and night, in enormous numbers. About 100 trillion neutrinos pass through our bodies every second. The problem for physicists is that neutrinos are impossible to see and difficult to detect.
So this means, we can send direct communication through the earth at the speed of light...
Radio waves and mobile phone signals relies on electromagnetic radiation for communication but in a new development, engineers from Lancaster University in the UK, working with the Jožef Stefan Institute in Slovenia, transferred digitally encoded information using "fast neutrons" instead.
So this means we can send drone technology as deep as we want into the Earth and stay in communication with it. This also means we can send communication right through the moon. Out the other side of the moon, and we can send communication through the universe through planets directly and out the other side of planets!!! This means not even planetary bodies will affect our ability. If we have a satellite on one side of the planet and a satellite on another side of the planet, they can communicate to themselves, keeping them in perfect alignment as they rotate around there earth.. By communicating right through the Earth, no more need to bounce things. Offer satellites around the Earth. The satellites google communicate to and from each other through the earth itself. That also means we can run a drone from one side of the planet and communicate with it. On another side of the planet, right through the earth.... so that means we can see and send vehicles deep through lava flow and see what's going on inside the lava inside the earth..
Now, here is the material you would build the drum from that can penetrate deep into the earth... But this means we can communicate in minds with drones and workers. Deep inside mine, shafts or caves or controlled equipment that is deep inside the earth without having communication issues. 🤔 and also, if you use different energy levels of neutrino particles, you can use this define different mineral deposits with inside the earth... Because as it says, higher neutrino levels get stuck higher energy. So you're trying to figure out bouncing them for the inner elements of the earth, and this might help us be able to further analyze the interior of the earth accurately, an interior of other planets, including the moon accurately...

New F-16 Electronic Warfare System ‘on Par with Fifth-Gen’ Enters Flight Test
Sept. 4, 2024 | By John A. Tirpak
The F-16’s new electronic warfare suite, the AN/ALQ-257, has begun flight testing after successfully completing ground tests in an anechoic chamber, Northrop Grumman reported.
The Integrated Viper Electronic Warfare Suite, or IVEWS, mounted in a Block 50 F-16, completed an Air Force evaluation in the Joint Preflight Integration of Munitions and Electronic Sensors (J-Prime) facility—an anechoic chamber—last month, Northrop said. That same aircraft has been conducting flight tests for about two weeks, and will soon be joined by a second F-16, a company official said. Northrop is not yet cleared to reveal the location of testing.
Flight testing to validate what was learned in the chamber will take just a few weeks, and an operational assessment will be completed “by the fourth quarter of this year,” said James Conroy, vice president of navigation, targeting, and survivability, in an interview with Air & Space Forces Magazine. Developmental and operational testing should be completed in early 2025, and based on the results, the Air Force will decide future milestones such as when production and deliveries can begin and when the first F-16 unit is expected to be declared operational, he said.
“We’re going fast,” Conroy said, because the Air Force’s F-16s “don’t have this kind of survivability equipment” and need it to be operationally relevant. The system is an all-digital jammer that has been extensively tested to cooperate with and deconflict with the F-16’s new AN/APG-83 Scalable Agile Beam Radar (SABR), an active electronically-scanned array (AESA) radar. The two systems can be used simultaneously, Conroy said. Both are made by Northrop.
The electronic warfare system is capable of detecting, identifying and countering “the most advanced threats” on the battlefield today, Conroy said, and can perform accurate geo-location of emitters with just a single aircraft. The simulations in the chamber were “intense,” he said.
The IVEWS will be internal to the F-16 and will replace the centerline-mounted AN/ALQ-131 self-defense jamming pod, freeing one external station on the fighter for a fuel tank or weapon. The system will use antennas located elsewhere on the fuselage; the outer mold line of the aircraft hasn’t been altered, Conroy said.
He declined to characterize whether the IVEWS is comparable to the Eagle Passive/Active Warning Survivability System (EPAWSS) being mounted on F-15Es and F-15EXs, saying only that that they are “both advanced electronic warfare systems” and can work together.
The IVEWS is intended to provide the F-16 with electronic warfare capabilities “on a par with fifth-generation aircraft, significantly enhancing survivability for operations in contested and congested electromagnetic spectrum environments,” Northrop said. “Its ultra-wideband suite can detect, identify, and counter advanced radio frequency threats, including millimeter wave systems.”
The IVEWS started out as a Middle-Tier Acquisition program to achieve rapidly fielding; it became an Air Force program of record in 2019.
Conroy said the system will be especially helpful in coping with mobile anti-aircraft radars and missiles whose position is unknown at the start of a mission and which may turn on and fire on F-16s when directly overhead or nearby.
To reach this point, the IVEWS has undergone three years of testing, both on the ground and in the air aboard Northrop’s Bombardier CRJ, acting as a surrogate for the F-16 in the Northern Lightning 2021 exercise, Conroy said. It has also been tested at Hill Air Force Base’s F-16 Block 50 avionics system integration laboratory.
In the chamber, the IVEWS was “subjected to accurate representations of complex radio frequency spectrum threats,” Northrop said in a press release. It demonstrated “the ability to detect, identify, and counter advanced radio frequency threats while operating safely with other F-16 systems.”
Conroy said the system could permit the F-16 to remain credible into the 2040s, and is being evaluated by a number of F-16 user countries, particularly those buying the F-16 Block 70. Turkey has signed a letter of agreement selecting the IVEWS for its Block 70s.

Comparing Journalism Institutes in Delhi: What Makes a Good Media School?
Tumblr media
Choosing the right journalism institute can shape your future career. Delhi, being the hub of national media, is home to several reputed media schools, each with its strengths. But what separates a good journalism institute from an average one? Let’s explore key factors you should consider when comparing journalism institutes in Delhi—and how HIMCOM sets a benchmark in each.
1. Curriculum Relevance
Good media schools adapt their curriculum to match current industry needs. The best institutes offer modules in digital journalism, mobile reporting, data journalism, and influencer media along with traditional print and broadcast. HIMCOM, for example, includes hands-on training in podcasting, YouTube content creation, and social media journalism as part of its BJMC and MJMC programs.
2. Industry Connections
Placement opportunities, internships, and industry exposure are non-negotiables. Look for institutes that regularly collaborate with leading media houses. HIMCOM has strong tie-ups with Zee News, News Nation, Radio Mirchi, and even content creators, which translates into real exposure and job opportunities for students.
3. Faculty Experience
A good journalism institute is only as strong as its faculty. Experienced faculty who’ve worked in newsrooms, studios, and production houses offer not just knowledge but mentorship. HIMCOM boasts journalists, editors, and media veterans who bring real-world insights into every class.
4. Infrastructure and Facilities
From state-of-the-art studios to editing labs and soundproof recording rooms, infrastructure plays a key role. HIMCOM provides a newsroom-simulated classroom, green screen-equipped video studios, and digital audio labs that mirror actual media environments.
5. Student Work and Portfolios
An institute that encourages students to build a practical portfolio—like video stories, blogs, podcasts, or social media campaigns—is preparing them well. HIMCOM emphasizes live projects, YouTube shows, and student editorials that become part of a strong job-seeking portfolio.
6. Campus Culture
Vibrant campus life, student clubs, media fests, and events like panel discussions or movie screenings contribute immensely to creative growth. HIMCOM’s campus life includes film screenings, newsroom simulations, and interactions with celebrities like Sunil Shetty and Suraj Pancholi.
7. Alumni Success
Where do the students end up? A strong alumni network working across major media houses is a testament to an institute’s effectiveness. HIMCOM alumni are placed in top channels, have started their own ventures, or run successful YouTube platforms.
8. Student-to-Industry Transition
A good journalism college helps students make a smooth transition to professional life. This includes placement drives, mock interviews, resume-building workshops, and media networking sessions. HIMCOM ensures a strong support system for final-year students gearing up for placements.
9. Value for Money
Cost is a factor, but what matters more is the ROI (Return on Investment). A great journalism institute justifies its fee through placement support, skills development, and media exposure. HIMCOM stands out with a competitive fee structure and consistently high placement rates.
10. Recognition and Rankings
Finally, recognition matters. Institutes ranked by media bodies, education portals, or the HRD Ministry often reflect quality. HIMCOM has earned recognition as one of the top journalism institutes in Delhi, consistently praised for its holistic media education.
Conclusion
Not all journalism institutes are created equal. When comparing your options in Delhi, look beyond brochures and check for real-world impact. HIMCOM distinguishes itself through a future-forward curriculum, expert faculty, powerful industry ties, and a campus culture that nurtures creativity. For students seeking to turn their media dreams into reality, HIMCOM stands as a leading example among journalism institutes in Delhi.

Why Digital Marketing is a Game-Changer in 2025 — And How We Can Help
Tumblr media
Let’s be real — if you’re not doing digital marketing in 2025, you’re pretty much invisible online. Whether you're running a local cafe, launching a new SaaS tool, or offering freelance services from your laptop, digital marketing has become the secret sauce to scaling your reach, engaging your audience, and driving actual results.
But wait — hasn't digital marketing been around for ages? Yep. But the way it works in 2025 is on a whole new level. And trust me, if you’re not paying attention now, you’ll be playing catch-up later.
So grab your chai or coffee ☕, because we’re diving deep into how digital marketing is changing the game this year — and how we at Digital Growth Byte by DR Digitalzest can help you crush it.
🚀 What Makes Digital Marketing So Powerful in 2025?
1. People Are Online More Than Ever
Let’s face it, we all live on our phones. From scrolling Instagram Reels to Googling the best pizza in town, your target audience is just a few taps away from discovering your brand — if you know how to reach them.
Stats don’t lie: Over 5.3 billion people use the internet globally, and digital ad spend in 2025 has skyrocketed. Why? Because online is where the money is.
2. AI and Automation Are Making It Smarter
Gone are the days of guessing what works. Now you’ve got AI tools that can:
Predict what your customers want
Personalize your website content in real-time
Automate emails, ads, and even SEO
In short? Digital marketing in 2025 is no longer just about effort — it's about smart effort.
3. SEO Is Still King (But It’s Smarter Now)
Google’s algorithm is savvier than ever. It rewards:
Helpful content
Fast-loading websites
Authentic backlinks
Great user experience (UX)
This means if your website looks shady, loads slowly, or offers zero value, you're basically ghosted by Google. On the flip side, if you’re investing in good SEO practices, you're winning — and we can help you with exactly that.
4. Content Marketing = Trust + Sales
People no longer trust direct ads alone. They want value. Blogs, YouTube videos, Insta carousels, case studies — these build trust and drive organic sales.
2025 content marketing is all about:
Telling stories
Solving problems
Creating relatability
Building authority
And guess what? You don’t need a fancy agency to get started — you just need the right roadmap.
5. Digital Ads Are More Affordable Than Traditional Marketing
Newspaper ads, TV spots, radio jingles — they cost a bomb and have limited targeting.
In contrast, a Facebook ad campaign with ₹500 can reach thousands of people who are already interested in what you offer. And that’s the magic of performance marketing in 2025.
😎 Real Talk: What This Means for Your Business
Whether you're a startup, coach, service provider, or a solo hustler — digital marketing can:
Put you on the map (literally)
Drive qualified traffic to your site
Generate leads that convert
Establish your online authority
