And of course, here is the method to this madness:

Guys. Chat. I did not know what I was doing.

You have to understand, Wall-E and EVE are such distinct characters with incredibly unique designs that I whole heartedly struggled to try and make Mayor and Macaque designs based off them.

But hey, I like a good challenge.

Thinking about Mayor, the LED screen from EVE was important, but instead of using it for her emotive eyes I thought it would be cool to use it for Mayor's mouth instead? I know their blank eyes are part of their trade mark, but so is their smile and I thought just in general, that feature of their face was more emotive than their eyes. The V shape in their chest is supposed to kind of (?) imitate their suit in their OG LMK design? And yeah all of the round shapes and the, floaty nature of their body is all from EVE. Generally though, when thinking of Mayor's design here, I kept in mind the idea of 'assistant' droids/robots, rather than what EVE actually is which is, an 'Extraterrestrial Vegetation Evaluator probe droid'.

MACAQUE ON THE OTHER HAND?

I KID YOU NOT, NOTHING STUCK WITH THIS GUY-

I wanted to make him some sort of weather machine because I thought I could make his ears some sort of windmill (sobs). Or- try and actually reflect the cleaner droid aspect of Wall-E and like- I don't know, make that his whole gimmick. But that didn't work either. I tried everything guys. From giving him wheels to making him walk on four legs- from goggles to imitate his red eye mask to like- oh I don't know. Making him one of those- y'know, one of these

And then I remembered Macaque has a mech. A robot mech-

He became a fighter droid. Or, some kind of training dummy. Abandoned on earth but has a hell of a lot of survival skills so this dude kind of just... survived. Last robot standing, for 700 years. I specifically tried to give him more of a standard look, rather than more specialized like his mech. Like he's still himself, but it's a look you could see manufactured and copied a couple hundred times. Maybe. I don't know. Maybe I shouldn't have used those shoulder-arm-joint-spikey-ring-things.

So yeah. This- sure it's Wall-E inspired (somewhat) but I think at this point these are just designs for a robot AU- hey wouldn't it be cool if there was a robot fighting ring AU and these two were the robot fighters- what if there was just a regular fighter ring AU and it was for shaodpwuppet-

2023 is coming to an end...

It's been a loving and tough year for me. I can honestly say in ready for it to be over already 😭. 2024 is a year I seriously want to start aiming for the goals I've been too scared to do due to many reasons. I have grown this blog very fast and I hope the new year brings more growth, not only for this blog but for you and I. Thankyou bunnies for getting me to 500+ !! 💋

FORGIVENESS

It's time for this year to come to an end. We've all experienced ups and downs, we've all had embarrassing moments, and we all have regrets. I want to tell you that whatever you did this year is in the past, you do not need to carry that onto the new year and make yourself pay twice.

Forgive yourself and let these burdens go. Write what ways you down and burn it, pray, forgive yourself out loud, hug yourself whatever you need to do to release that tension and stress.

Let's move onto the new year with s fresh heart, a loving heart that isn't weighed down.

COMPASSION

Don't beat yourself up for these things, let them go and just reflect. Use them to fuel yourself to get better and try again. We are human, this is our first time living and we are still learning.

LOVE

Love yourself, build a relationship with yourself. How can you love others if you do not love yourself? Spend time with yourself, implement self care that isn't revolve around technology. Go outside, take pride in your apperance, take things slow, workout, eat healthy, invest time in nurturing your skills and hobbies, slowly dissconect from those who do not support you and fully mentally block those who make it their purpose to be ignorant towards you. Go deep into your brain, unpack childhood traumas and heal. Learn to love in 2024.

Happy New Year's Eve to all my friends, near and far!

Compared to the last five or so years, 2024 has actually been a fairly happy and progress-filled year in my personal and professional life. I am incredibly grateful for this change in my fortune, but I know that it isn't luck alone - these positive developments were the result of hard work and careful planning during the times that were the most difficult.

Looking back on 2024, the accomplishment I am most proud of is finally submitting my PhD thesis. Although I was originally on track to complete my postgraduate degree at Imperial College by the end of 2020, the pandemic and later my Dad's final illness and passing understandably derailed the plans. Being in an emotionally and financially abusive relationship while having a steep learning curve on family legal and financial matters did not help matters. Despite these challenges and their deep negative impact on my mental health, I was able to return to working on my PhD thesis in 2023 with the kind support of both my supervisor Professor Colin Turnbulll, my wonderful mental health counsellor, and my Mom.

In 2024, I also took significant steps towards starting my own business based on science communication and plant science expertise. With advice from the Imperial College Imperial Enterprise Lab, I hope to develop my social media based science communication hobby into a proper new career direction that makes use of both my scientific experience and my public speaking skills. Sharing ideas with my dear friend Barbara McNaught inspired me to pursue self-publishing a book on plant science for plant lovers in the future. Also, I had the valuable opportunity of presenting two talks on plant biology at Garden Museum via Samia Mirza-Qureshi's support. I'm excited to see where this new career path will take me.

This past year, I have reconnected with an important of myself as an artist and storyteller. Thanks to being part of the Escaflowne and classic adventure fiction fandom, I have rediscovered my love of creating inspiring stories and characters. I have also started drawing again and improving my art skills with the aim to possibly take an art course in the future to learn all the basics in order to elevate my character designs and concepts to a higher level. My friendships with creative and curious people like Louise Parada-Fogerty, Daniel Parada, Jonathan Middleton, Chuka Nwobodo Nancy Yuan Brittany Nichols, Mira Bella, Jess Terrell, and many others helped me find this important part of myself.

I have many dreams and ambitions for 2025, and I intend on keeping myself healthy in body and mind so I can achieve them.

I hope anyone reading this also has milestones and accomplishments they can reflect on today, as well as many things to look forward to in 2025.
