I am proud to say I got my start at Nassau Community College where I found the professors very dedicated, the class room sizes perfect for ideal learning and the curriculum challenging and rewarding. The atmosphere of the campus was enjoyable and the experience of my first two years of college was very enjoyable. I thoroughly enjoyed my first two years of engineering studies at Nassau Community College and my only regret was that I didn’t come out as a transgender woman but the 1979-1981 time frame was very different from today but I would have enjoyed wearing dresses 👗 in my calculus and physics classes.#nassaucommunitycollege #engineeringscience #gardencitynewyork #calculus #physics #strengthofmaterials #dynamics #electricalcircuits #thermodynamics #mechanicaldrawing #englishcomposition #operationsresearch (at Nassau Community College)

LG's Flexible, Disappearing TV
LG is absolutely the best when it comes to televisions and this is no secret. It's also no secret that CES is an exciting time to see what new things LG is working on. This year was no disappointment. Do you ever hate that your TV is always around? Do you wish you could have it out only when you want to watch it? Well, take a look at the rolling TV from LG, because you can now completely stow away your television when it's not in use. And this design is nothing short of impressive. Utilizing a double bracket lift system paired with individual panels, LG has created something truly fantastic. 4K OLED screen technology comes with a 100-watt Dolby Atmos speaker. And the movement is steady as it is fascinating. Make no mistake, this roll-up TV from LG will come with a hefty price tag. Remembering that their "wallpaper" TV began at $8K, we're guessing this one will be much higher. But the technology is here now. And that's the most exciting part.

Current Concerns in Environmental Engineering
S. A. Abbasi and Tasneem Abbasi
Current Concerns in Environmental Engineering is a treatment of 15 topics of great contemporary relevance by bestselling author S. A. Abbasi. Each topic is covered from its basics to its global application in a highly concise and compact yet exceedingly clear and lucid style. The coverage has a wide sweep, reflective of the great diversity and complexity of challenges presently faced by the Earth’s environment. Some of the biggest existence-threatening questions are also addressed in this book ─ for example: Is renewable energy as safe for the world as is believed? Can technology make the present paradigm of development sustainable? Will a shift to renewables halt global warming? Is fossil fuel decarburization really workable?
Current Concerns in Environmental Engineering would enhance the comprehension of undergraduate and graduate students while giving them a worldview that formal textbooks generally fail to do. The book will be exceedingly useful to teachers and researchers due to the fresh insights it can give and the innovative thinking it can stimulate.

When an earthquake occurs, the shockwaves of released energy that shake the Earth and temporarily turn soft deposits, such as clay, into jelly (liquefaction) are called seismic waves, from the Greek ‘seismos’ meaning ‘earthquake’. Seismic waves are usually generated by movements of the Earth’s tectonic plates but may also be caused by explosions, volcanoes and landslides. Types of seismic waves There are three basic types of seismic waves – P-waves, S-waves and surface waves. P-waves and S-waves are sometimes collectively called body waves. Ball lightning is an unexplained and potentially dangerous atmospheric electrical phenomenon. The term refers to reports of luminescent, spherical objects that vary from pea-sized to several meters in diameter. Though usually associated with thunderstorms, the phenomenon lasts considerably longer than the split-second flash of a lightning bolt. Two reports from the nineteenth century say that the ball eventually explodes, leaving behind an odor of sulfur. The actual existence of the ball lightning phenomena is not proven, but they appear in a variety of accounts over the centuries. Until the 1960s, most scientists treated reports of ball lightning skeptically, despite numerous accounts from around the world. Laboratory experiments can produce effects that are visually similar to reports of ball lightning, but how these relate to the natural phenomenon remains unclear. Scientists have proposed many hypotheses about ball lightning over the centuries. Scientific data on natural ball-lightning remains scarce, owing to its infrequency and unpredictability. The presumption of its existence depends on reported public sightings, which have produced somewhat inconsistent findings. Owing to inconsistencies and to the lack of reliable data, the true nature of ball lightning remains unknown. The first ever optical spectrum of what appears to have been a ball-lightning event was published in January 2014, and included a video at high frame-rate #science#engineeringsciences#goodidea#howitsmade#hobimanc#design#engineering#engineer#mechanicalengineering#engthings #technologythesedays #handtools#amazing#physic#canada #usa #engineeringtube (em Phoenix, Arizona) https://www.instagram.com/p/B7rfIFPHtE-/?igshid=16roldtfsryzk
