More traditional sketches and concepts for an AU.

Xavius Solution got like, really big and there's no Creepypasta. And like, Helos didn't die and ended up working as an engineer for the company. He maintains the servers of a district so the People-Turned-AI so that the servers get to function properly.

Ramona is the district manager (an AU Exclusive OC!). Very tech-core aesthetic. Strict and stern and does her job well. She is one of the youngest district manager ever.

And Dark Link has to be there because he's my fav and I have so many headcanons on Ben Lawman and Dark Link being brothers before their ascension (<- will make a separate post about this if asked.)

Anyways, Dark Link was one of the people who signed up for Eternity Project but never really found himself being happy in there and came across Helos who then proceeded to build him a whole, walking AI body for him to inherit so he can be an actual person again. They fall in luv and get married.

I have this very self-indulgent headcanon that, despite all Jason's genius cooking, there is one recipe he can't recreate, no matter how hard hard he tries, and it frustrates him. It is not even a hard one. In fact, it is the simplest dish in the world... and still, he fails to find the right way to bring it back to life.

You see, back in the time, before Willis got arrested, Catherine was more or less functional kind of mother. Yes, they didn't have any kind of luxury — they lived in the same street, in the same dishevelled house, with their clothes old, sewed back countless amount of times — but they survived. Willis brought money back home, and more often than not, Jason had a full stomach. And Catherine cooked to him.

Every dinner, she brought him the same yellow scrapped plate with warm, salty pasta. She always smiled shyly, as if trying not to burst with apologises for the repetitive meal they could afford, but Jason didn't mind. He loved it. It was warm, it was tasty. It was everything he wanted.

And then, Willis got in prison, Catherine fell a victim of addiction, and Jason... and Jason didn't eat anything like that for a long time. And when he finally did, thanks to Bruce and Alfred, it tasted differently. Not bad, not at all... just differently.

For years, he tried to recreate his mother's recipe (Catherine didn't even do anything special — she boiled a water, she added a salt, nothing special) and all fruitless. He died, got back — and still! Still no success.

What is it that his attempts are lacking? Why can't he cook it?

He lost so many memories along his way, but this one — this exact taste on the tip of his tongue — he could never throw away, even if he tried.

So, he tries, tries, tries-

And never succeeds.

& at last!! The angst journey comes to a close with some long, loooong overdue soft. Still angsty, but they are through the worst. & I promised Aloy would be ok. They’ve had a close call but they survive and they learn.

Talking about eternal bout/wtwg set again because it's my favourite in terms of symbolism (I've talked a bit about An's card here before but decided to do a more in-depth analysis.)

The cages in the background symbolise the feeling of being trapped; in An's case she felt like she couldn't move forward because of her insecurities of not being good enough compared to Kohane and being left behind. The cage bars in An's card seem to have been pried open by force in contrast to the cage doors being opened normally in Kohane’s card. This may be a reference to how An had been training since she was a child, yet felt that Kohane, although she had a lot less experience, was better than her because Kohane had a natural talent for singing, while An had to work hard to reach that level. An struggled a lot with her insecurities but was finally ready to face them head on — thus breaking out of the cage.

In the animal kingdom, lying limp and exposing their neck like Kohane is doing in An's card is used to show submission to those higher up in the hierarchy (eg wolves to their pack leaders), or show their predators that they've "given up". In other cases, it can also be used to show complete trust, especially to their lovers, since its very easy to fatally injure them with their neck exposed like that, and doing that is basically saying "I trust you not to hurt me while I'm defenceless".

In that sense, that's what Kohane is trying to show An—"I trust you with my life". An has an angry and longing expression, which could mean that An doesn't want Kohane to trust her so much. She wants her to get up and fight back with everything she has because An doesn't trust herself not to accidentally hurt Kohane. Yet Kohane is willing to accept that, because that's just how much she trusts An. This was shown in the wtwg story where both of them gave it their all during their singing battle.

Touya's card is split into blue (left) and red (right), which represent Kohane and An respectively. It could be that he's caught in the middle or is neutral about the situation. He is holding/covering the spot on his face where Akito punched him during their argument in the main story. This highlights the parallels between the situations and Touya’s and An's feelings of insecurity.

However, the event also shows how both duos resolve the situation differently. Akitoya talked it out to clear the misunderstanding as their relationship is primarily based on mutual trust. They push themselves to improve further because they want to stand next to each other, shoulder-to-shoulder. While Anhane had a literal singing battle to determine who's truly better as their relationship is primarily based on mutual respect. They want each other to be proud of them, and in order to achieve that they push themselves to reach greater heights so that they can be better than the other. (I've also said this before here)
