FINAL THOUGHTS, COMMENTS, QUESTIONS, CONCERNS?

So, for the first time ever.....

I’ve written to a writer. I know, I know. I was supposed to write a piece of my own, but I was drawing a blank after blank after blank. Severe writer’s block. So, as my own personal contribution to my chosen writing space, I wrote a personal note to the writer of a piece on conquering fear about how I’m finally beginning my adult life, in a new city, new university, and how I am terrified. So I highlighted in the text, “Screw it, let’s just do it.” (Not how I would phrase it, but it gets the same message across). 

Medium most definitely checks off all of my boxes: 

Interactive (check): Medium allows its users and producers to send messages to each other, highlight phrases, comment on them, and send a note to other writers; Adventurous: out-of-the-box thinking (check): Medium has so many different topics that writers can address, audiences can read, learn, and apply it to everyday life; Insightful (check): Medium gives the perfect platform produsers to really get to know how people think and relate to each and every story or at the very least learn something; Censored/Limiting (to some degree, although my thoughts on that were based more on morality, and conscientiousness. Check): Users must reach the terms of agreement, and the privacy clause; Accessibility (to some degree. Check): There is a short free trial period, but after that u can choose to pay a $50/year membership fee or the $5/month fee. I can promise it is worth the $5/month.Therefore, I give Medium.com an A. Up to you to decide if it’s the place for you. 

IS THIS A TRUE WRITING SPACE? By my standards,                                 ABSO-FREAKING-LUTELY! 

Will I continue to use this website in the near future? Hell yes. If I can finally come up with some meaty, authentic, brain-stimulating material to blow all of your minds with. Now, the Truth Gate has been widely opened. And everything i have been feeling sad for the past year has been confirmed... unfortunately.

And, it is looking like there will be no us anymore in the coming years. So, better make the most of this year, at least make up for the mistakes done.

So, this is how and where it all ends. It is not really about the music or the environment or even the children. It is just me all along that he is having a hard time to accept and tell me upfront.

It will be quite hard to change "me". And, marriage without compromise is impossible to continue after all anyway.

Week Fifteen - Final Thoughts

After fifteen weeks of talking about design, I see the future of design being very modern, adapted, and advanced. I feel like we can only go forward with design since we have come so far already. A couple examples that I can see as the potential future are cars. They have come so far already with small design tweaks like tinted windows and heated seats, and the newest feature from Tesla of being able to drive itself. I feel that in the future this feature will be more trusted and managed because since it is so new people still have their suspicions and doubts, but in the future the road will probably be all cars that drive themselves. Even different designs like smaller cars, SUVs, and trucks. Another example is going to be phones. Phones have already adapted from cord phones, to touch screens, to now phones that don’t even have a home button. I feel like in the future there will be advances with the battery, or how phones are able to bend, or how they connect to cars or bluetooth devices. Every small update is leading up to these bigger advances. My third example that I see as the potential future is medical supplies. The world has already come a drastic way with their preventative care for diseases. For example, I have diabetes and many years ago there were no electronic pumps for patients that could regulate our blood glucoses like they do now. In the future, I feel like there will be ways for medicine to prevent things from happening even quicker, and the technology will give them every cure and hope that they need. 

As designers now get older, they will retire which will allow for new designers to enhance outcomes and provide new elements of design and products.

Dear friends,

As I thought about what to write in my last Health Nut post (ever) I was sure it needed to contain profound words of wisdom - some intellectual compilation of all my years at this university studying health & wellness. Don’t get too excited - I’m no Mother Teresa. But I have learned a lot as a college student and through my role as your Health Nut Writer. 

I have had the privilege of creating content for UM over the past two years. Now, in about two weeks, I am graduating and passing the torch (you can’t tell but I’m crying rn). It’s a bittersweet goodbye. 

These six (yes… six) years of my life in school have been full of growth, achievement, some mistakes, life lessons, a lot of fun, a little heartbreak, endless adventure, and most of all, passion for what I do - share health & wellness with my peers. 

With that, I’ll leave you with my final Health Nut tips. Things college taught me (beyond academics). 

Learn from your mistakes & have no regrets

In life, there are always going to be moments you’ll wish you could have done differently. Let those moments be learning experiences rather than regrets. 

Eat (a healthy) breakfast

It is the most important meal of the day. Plus, breakfast has been known to help fight (h)anger. Don’t just feed your body, fuel it. Choose foods that nourish. It’s the only body you have, take good care of it. 

Choose your attitude

It may be the only true freedom we have in life. Be mindful of your emotions and intentional with your actions.

Find you & stay true

I don’t know if anyone truly ‘finds themselves’ but always continue the search - unapologetically. College is about more than higher education. It is a turning point for many of us. A time to figure out who we are just a little bit more. 

Listen to mentors but pave your own path

Whether it’s your mom or a co-worker, a supervisor or a family friend, find someone you can look up to and listen to their advice. I always say, your path is your own. And that’s true - nobody has your story. But listening to the advice of those who have paved the way before you is always helpful perspective. 

Be nice to people

You never know what someone else is going through. We all have our moments of frustration, but always try your best to be kind.

Lose the pressure

Your college years are supposed to be the best years of your life. That’s a lot of pressure. Know that it’s okay if these years suck sometimes. And it’s okay not to be okay. Try not to lose sight of what’s truly important to you.

Stay passionate

Let your passion drive out fear of failure. Find whatever it is and don’t look back. Let it motivate you to become the best version of yourself. 

Is it dramatic to say this is the end of an era? Probably - but that’s how it feels. I’ve loved creating content for you, UM. Thank you for reading & sharing.

In January I was without an agent and promising myself after one more revision I was giving Nothing But Sky one last shot with editors.
