This giant golden-crowned flying fox, (a.k.a. golden-capped fruit bat) is a species of mega-bat endemic to the Philippines. These endangered bats' diet consists purely of fruit, and they cause no harm to humans or other animals. They can grow to have a wingspan of almost 6 feet and weigh around 3 pounds.

Because think about it. Thanks to Cujo, we KNOW animals with unfinished business or strong attachments stay behind. We ALSO know from nigh COUNTLESS videos on the internet that pets get REALLY attached to pregnant moms and by extention, the new pack members.

Krpton was an Alien planet. Just because SOME of the animals there looked similar to earth animals, doesn't mean ALL of them do. Nor does it mean they ONLY domesticated dog like creatures or cat like creatures. They could have anything from vaguely bear-like to fox-ish to small moose but with more teeth.

It was a completely different ecology.

And Jor-El? Him and his wife had a CHOICE to make. They had A pod. Singular. Tiny. Not a ship, not an escape pod, not even a refurbished shipping container. Just a pod with life support and all the information about Krypton they could fit. A guidance system that, gods willing, would see their son to a safe and sympathetic planet to be raised by kind people.

THEY couldn't even fit.

How in the gods name would a large pet? Even a mid sized pet. Let us assume, for this prompt, that being scientists of high position? Pays or allocates pretty well. They have the room. The resources. When they got married, Jor-El's wife REALLY wanted a cub or pup or what have you, of some large-ish animal breed.

The equivalent of an earth mastiff dog. Just an Absolute UNIT. Used to be gaurds and working beasts, now more athletic pets then anything. Known to be great protecters of Their People.

And well... Jor-El WAS already starting to notice some things that were making him Less Than Popular... probably nothing (he had naively hoped, at the time.) But better to have a Just In Case. Sure, honey. Let's get one!

And they LOVED Snookums.

Snookums ADORED them AND the baby! Kal-El basically NEVER left Snookums sight. He slept beneath Kal's crib. Followed them everywhere they went, when they were holding Kal. Planted himself like Kal's Sworn Protector as the baby drooled all over his fur. It was the cutest thing EVER.

But then?

No. Dear Gods No. Please... Please let him be wrong!

He's not. He never is. He is too careful with his calculations. To the point of near paranoia. Maybe they can stop it. If they DO something. Act IMMEDIATELY...

But...

Well, we all now how that story ends. Two people, standing on a launch pad, tears streaming down their smiling faces, trying to memorize the last moment they'll ever see their son. Praying this will be ENOUGH.

That they aren't trading one terrible death for another.

Watching their son disappear into the sky. Flying home as the ground groan as shakes, trees toppling and people screaming. Panicking. Dying pointless deaths that could have been stopped.

Walking into the home that should have been where they spent their whole live. Where, in a way, they WILL.

Knowing they won't grow old.

Sitting on the floor with their confused, frantic, pet as fire starts to light up the horizon. As the ground shakes violently on last, terrible time. Knowing the lethal heat will hit them before their ears ever register the sound.

It's Over.

But! Where is Snookum's Baby Kal!?

They are scared, confused, and everything is LOUD AND RUMBLY. Very Bad. Don't like that. Their ADULTS come back home. BUT NOT THEIR BABY. Where is Baby Kal?! Snookums is a GOOD Boy and a GREAT Protector. It is in his blood.

Something BAD is happening.

Has? Happened?

Everything is GREEN.

But that does not MATTER. Snookums can not REST. Can not stay here! They must Sniff and search and hunt! Look for Kal! Who is SMALL and needs to be protected! What if he is HURT? How will he SLEEP!? With no Snookums to cuddle for nap time!?

But the universe is large. And there is no smell in space. (Well, there ARE. But they are Stinky Gasses and those do not help Snookums.) So it takes lots and lots of time. Until! He meets a glowing blue dog!

A hopeful corgi? What is a corgi? Irrelevant! The hopeful one knows of Snookums' Kal! Oh, thank you small friend! You indeed DO give hope! We shall go at once and Kal shall be safe and with family once more!

Meanwhile? Danny? Wakes up to a sticky note on his forehead from Clockwork. "Bring Cujo with you to meet the Justic League"? What? WHY? He loves the pup, but Cujo has never behaved himself in a formal setting ONCE in his doggy LIFE. Danny is trying to make a good first impression!

But... Clockwork doesn't Post-It lightly...

Guess he's breaking out the doggy bow ties. Great. Wonder what THIS is about...

Four and a half hours later? Watching Cujo playfully wrestle with the ghost of what HAS to be a Kryptonian... gonna saaaaay.... Bear-fox? Which nearly TACKLED Superman, freaked the ENTIRE Justice League out, and nearly got him STABBED by Etrigon. Yeah. That was a good call.

Congratulations on your new ghost pet, Superman. No, he's not leaving. It just kinda happens sometimes. It's how Danny got Cujo. Wanna do pet playdates?

okay but eyeing the pigeons gets even worse if empress is pregnant with yae miko's children. kujou sara and cloud retainer need to be a little out of empress's sights if they dont want her pouncing on them

OH NO. MIKO’S CHILDREN 😨

I believe we’ve discussed this before, but if the Empress is pregnant with Miko’s heirs (plural because there’s no way Miko isn’t giving you at least two of her pups) the Empress would start to inhabit kitsune mother traits including the instinct to build a nest, overprotectiveness, etc.

So if we combine the sudden fox maternal instincts with the Empress’ weird pregnancy cravings, not only do we have a feral mother on the loose, but we have a feral mother who craves to hunt small creatures to feed her young. Yae Miko would be standing off smugly to the side, watching in pure bliss as her pregnant lover chases down Courtesans Sara and Xianyun, while both are squawking and flying around the palace in fear of being hunted by the Empress.

“Thats my Empress…” Miko just sighs blissfully, proud at the fact you were doing all the necessary things a kitsune mother would 💕

Decided to revamp my Sinner Slugcats so they're not all just multicolored scugs.

I did look into some of the symbols and stuff of the game, so the writing is more or less "Outlaw, Number", since I wasn't sure how to make a "Sinner" symbol in the RW language, so I just used Outlaw since it has the lowest Karma symbol anyway.

Intricacies under the readmore

Yi Sang: Inspired by daszombes' Deadlands video, he is a "Flying Slugcat", like a sugar glider or flying squirrel. He has no true flight, but it works

Faust: Some sort of Echo or associated. Has her own citizen ID drone of an unknown Iterator, and it also acts as a little scanner (inspired by @astragatwo's take on scug Faust). She still maintains Gourmand's crafting ability, but it might be more taxing with her smaller frame.

Don Quixote: A special breed of Slugcat meant to go fast, her legs are quite powerful, letting her make longer pounces or generally run faster than most other scugs. Obviously, her lack of weight makes her weak to poleplants/worm grass, but y'know.

Ryoshu: Similar to Spearmaster, but by way of King Vulture, she only has one spear directly connected to her that she can recall (it does not act like SM's feeding needles). Also, a subtle detail is that her ears are absolutely massive compared to most scugs, giving her enhanced hearing.

Meursault: (Perhaps a Purposed Being?) He has face armor not unlike a lizard, in fact he's about the same size as a blue lizard. His bite is quite powerful, and he's certainly the best to have in front going through pipes, as his face will deflect spears (should the scavs be aggro or something). He might also have better climbing ability, able to get on walls and such, but he's very heavy so idk

Hong Lu: Bioluminescent, like a fun mix of lantern mice and cyan lizards, he can "turn it off" as it were. His tail also can be used as a small flashbang, but obviously only once (per cycle). Of course, this helps with coalescipedes, but makes him a damn beacon otherwise.

Heathcliff: Still Artificer based, where explosions and such just don't really bother him and he's able to maul enemies (though obviously his bite is weaker than Meur's). He also has a pearl hanging around his neck of unknown use, but clearly given to him by someone special.

Ishmael: Rivulet, but even closer to salamander where she actually has fins, her ability to swim is obviously a cut above everyone else's. She's probably had a bad run in or two with Leviathans. Her cloak is probably a gift from whatever version of Queequeg this world has

Rodion: Also inspired by astragatwo, she's mega fluffy making her very warm. Though, this does make it annoying for her to swim if the area is cold because she'll freeze faster. I still like the idea she can carry more scugs on her, but idk. (She does look more like a fox, but such is the price of floof)

Sinclair: Saint-lite, and still pup-sized (he's an adult, just tiny like Don) so long as he's not at lowest Karma, he has limited ability to incapacitate enemies (not quite enough to ascend) and fly a bit with said ability. I basically wanted to reference his Mark of Cain somehow.

Outis: Ironically, just your average Slugcat. She probably has stuff going on with reputation or maybe she allows Echos to appear on first visit, or convinces Pebbles to not murder everyone immediately

Gregor: Definitely a creature that has been fucked with too much. Originally just a Slugcat that had been spliced with a centiwing (sorta like how the Miros Vultures are hybrids), he seemed to have got infected by the Rot, most likely when whatever Iterator structure he was hanging out around pulled a Pebbles

Waking up in their new homes.... at Central Coast Flying Foxes in Australia. Their little Queensland pups are settling in nicely after a big flight from Brisbane yesterday. They received 20 babies from the inundated and inspiring carers up north. Every one of these baby pollinators little lives is important. Listed as threatened species.

Vampire!Mina 

As mentioned in the story, Mina can’t be seen in mirrors. Her only opportunity to see a glimpse of herself is in water: ponds, lakes, full sinks, etc. 

She does have the ability to turn into other animals– bat and snake are the most common two, but she rarely exists in snake form because she can’t stand the sensation of shedding skin 

Bat Mina is adorable– being either a white winged vampire bat or hairy-legged vampire bat are her go-tos, but she’s also tried out being a giant flying fox bat. 

In addition to turning into animals, she can take on some pretty creepy/scary forms, including literal actual fog and a bat-human hybrid form. It takes a lot of her energy to turn into either of these. They’re kind of a protective defense form when she needs to disappear quickly or scare someone off a predator or hunter 

She does enjoy the snug setting of a coffin to sleep in, but she’s fine with normal beds too 

She’s lost fangs before, but unlike adult teeth, her fangs grow back if she loses one 

She has mirrors in her home but she can’t use them.  

She can be photographed but she’s always blurry even if sitting still. 

Werewolf!Momo

Momo lives in a log cabin deep in the forest. Her bed is ginormous– she pushed two king size beds together because she wanted to be able to use it as a sort of puppy bed when she was in her full werewolf size. 

As a result of having a ginormous bed, she hates making it and rarely does. 

Her eye color changes based on her interest when she’s in human form– the darker, deeper gold they are, the more of her attention you have. They stay dark gold when she’s in wolf form. 

Her stomach is like a tank, she can eat just about anything she can hunt. 

She doesn’t mind being being called “pup” or “puppy” during sex, but she is NOT into petplay 

She has an extremely sensitive nose. If she really wanted to find you, she could. 

Succubus!Sana

All of her powers are mind-based– she’s a manipulator. She can change your mind, make you say anything she wants to hear, and make you want to do whatever she wants you to do. She can seduce anyone she wants, whenever she wants. It’s as ethically questionable as it sounds. It really is a gift for Sana though because she's never been catcalled (she makes men feel the impulse to turn away from her before they can even see her).

She can dream walk. Just like Momo, if she’s looking for you, it’s only a matter of time before she finds you. She can move you while you sleep-- you may fall asleep in one place, but wake in another.

She used to have no problem manipulating people in their dreams too, but she's in the middle of of stopping the habit. It makes her uncomfortable (she's about to like, glow up and Stop Manipulating but this was pre-that).

Like Mina, she’s immortal.

Pascal was pretty protective of Rapunzel when she first met Eugene and was even a big part in Gothel's death. Does the same apply to T-Pup?

Apologies I’ve only just seen this! ✨ This is a great question and great excuse for me to talk a bit more about T-Pup cause I have so much to say about the little guy!

T-Pup is most definitely super protective over Miles/Tails and is practically the kids emotional support dog!

Since T-Pup has even less knowledge of the world and only knows what Miles has told him about what he remembers from Westside island (and whatever lies he’s been told by Eggman including things about Sonic) , T-Pup is definitely both mega protective, suspicious… and also probably a little scared of the hedgehog. When Miles realises going with Sonic is the only way he can achieve his dream of flying the Tornado, T-Pup is definitely much more reluctant and fearful for the fox’s safety… but he also also knows how much this dream means to him and Miles’ happiness is his number 1 priority!

As for how he impacts the end: Ough <\3. T-Pup… isn’t doing too good. Just as Pascal tries to protect Rapunzel from Gothel when things start getting intense T-Pup does the same… however, being a robot… he doesn’t get out of it as well as Pascal does. So he ends up kinda out of commission during Eggman’s defeat (who unlike Gothel doesn’t die, but defo doesn’t get away with everything without consequence). And T-Pup will of course be okay eventually! <3
