It makes me so sad when people boil venti down to a useless drunk, and zhongli to a forgetful old man, even worse if they treat them like they don’t care about their nations. Honestly, it confuses me how the Raiden Shogun was the only one seen as a real archon, but that’s just because she was scary. It kinda creates the unfortunate implication that the only way for a character to feel like a god is it they terrorize their own people. Is it not enough to watch over them and step in when needed? Why do we demand the archons to be actively threatening?
It also upsets me when people try to pretend that furina was never the hydro archon. Like yes, she didn’t have the power and was playing as the position, but until act 5, everyone believed she truly was a god. Is that not enough? If a human plays at a god to the point where everyone considers them as one, are they a god?

just occurred to me that Tohru's grandfather calling her by her mother's name is almost exactly what tohru herself was doing as a three-year-old: forcefully infusing a piece of the dead person into your vocabulary to remind a loved one of the dead person. Tohru did it by deliberately copying her father's speech patterns, while her grandfather faked senility in order to get away with regularly using Kyoko's name. Tohru's grandpa outright says that he started doing it because Tohru looked like she was on the verge of falling apart after her mother's death, which is exactly why toddler Tohru started copying her father! it's got me thinking about genetically predisposed habits and generational trauma and how family tends to be alike even without trying.

Thinking about how both Simon and Baz struggle with love...
Baz is not used to be loved unconditionally, intensity, madly, like Simon loves him. He had teenage fantasies, but not once did he ever actually think he would be loved back. Baz is used to being loved with walls up, to be loved in spite of parts of himself. He wants to be loved gently. He wants Simon’s love. But part of him doesn’t really know to handle it, how to fully believed, and when he does believe, how to internalize. He has actual programming that comes from the darkest moments of his live, that he can’t fully get rid of.
Simon is not used to feel loved at all. He doesn’t even know how that looks like. Simon is used to neglect, to being angry and uncomfortable and unhappy, to the point actual happiness and comfort register as wrong. He too has issues that come from the darkest moments of his life – he struggles with touch. I’ve seen the idea that Simon, who projects things onto Agatha that are indicative of his terrible self-esteem, would be on board with Agatha suddenly acting like a loving girlfriend, because “that’s what Simon would want” but that’s not what Simon wants at all. He wouldn’t even know how to deal with that! The appeal of Agatha is having the security and stability he never had; crucially Simon not having feelings for her and she not having them either was part of the appeal. His example of being “illuminated” by her has distance. It would feed into his guilt, but deep down Simon doesn’t want to be (romantically) loved by Agatha, because he doesn’t love her like that. It doesn’t make him happy. (Note that he has a whole list of “every time Baz paid me attention” when he’s introducing the people in his life, but with Agatha is crickets. He even avoids thinking about being together with her – in the list of things he likes about being in her house, she’s glaringly missing)
It makes Simon happy to be loved by Baz. His issues with touch are strong – he can’t handle being touched gently or “lovingly” (if it’s not firmly) (while not having feelings likely helped, I think there must have been an element of Simon “mentally escaping his body” when he was touched by Agatha in ways he didn’t want to, but also wasn’t processing given that it didn’t do shit to show him how he wanted to be touched). But he’s actually receptive of Baz letting him know how loved he is – he’s more receptive than Baz, even if he struggles. When Baz confesses how long he has wanted him, Simon has to fight back a smile. He looks back to understand and re-contextualize his own (gay) behavior around Baz, but he doesn’t stop there. He was clueless once, but he does pick up on what Baz tells him when they’re together – he looks back at Baz’s “hating him but not really hating him, not only hating him” – he’s also looking at Baz’s past (gay) behavior in a new light. It’s him who wishes he could go back and re-do things so he can kiss Baz in every corner of the school. He tell us that Baz showing him love by taking care of him makes him happy (makes him wish he has been taken care of like that all along). When Baz tells him “I know my love is not enough to make you happy” Simon goes “It does make me happy, the fact that you love me.”
I would love to be shown an equivalent of Baz doing this, because I can’t remember any. Baz wants and prefers to be touched gently, but he can handle being touched differently. He wants to be loved by Simon, and Simon makes him happy... but in general, he struggles here. The big shock at hearing “I love you” for the first time is Baz’s (after Simon already lets us known Baz is the love of his life, mind you). Baz has to work through his initial reactions to embrace that Simon loves him (to even believe it in the first place). He doesn’t react with happiness and excitement when Simon asks to be boyfriends, he has to be convinced. He’s getting something what he wants when Simon starts using pet names and his reaction is “this is ridiculous” or something. There’s programming and overthinking here getting in his way. At the same time, there are notable moments where he doesn’t think. Simon’s “what do you mean you don’t know I love you? Remember the chimera I killed for you?” – that incident happens when they were like 15. Simon is saying “I was already in love you when were 15″... but Baz doesn’t pick that up. Simon straight up tells him he was already into him when he stalked him, and Baz is disbelieving. Simon tells him he’s his and nothing compares to him, and that makes Baz want to kiss him... but he doesn’t ever look back like “my love wasn’t unrequired, look at that.” (Baz realize he loved Simon at 15, Simon says he already did something at 15 to express his love for Baz). He doesn’t realize, even though Simon says it!
In fact, as I’m typing all this, I realize that Baz's first reaction to discovering Simon wants him and loves him is never really positive. There’s always a but he has to work through... he has always been loved with “a but” so whenever Simon loves him and wants him with no reservations, Baz tries to come up with a but.  Note how Simon is able to look back at their past and reconcile the “hatred” with the love, but we don’t see Baz doing that. “Baz hated me but he didn’t only hate me. Deep down, he didn’t really hate me.” But Baz stays with “nah, you hated me, what are you saying.” He does that when Simon shares that he was already into him during their rat hunting date. Baz’s smells bullshit when Simon is struggling to process his feelings and being wrong and everything that means when he goes “I didn’t like you, I don’t even like you now” (a blatant lie) but not with anything else. He does it twice with the numpties in different stages of their relationship, including after hearing that Simon loves him. “I would have annihilated the numpties for hurting you” Simon says and Baz goes “but you hated me.” It’s a big “but” Baz struggles to let go. He’s too used to having it. It aligns with his negative image of himself. Simon thinks Baz “will be the death of me,” he thinks his feelings for Baz are too overwhelming, too big to contain. But perhaps the fact that he doesn’t like to think too much – whereas Baz can get trapped inside of his head – makes it easier for him to be receptive, while it takes more work to get Baz out of his head for that... At the same time, when something is a strong insecurity/concern and Simon does something that kicks it in the butt Baz is instantly happy. Example: Baz fears Simon’s issues with being gay translates into issues with being with him... Their very public and very domestic IKEA date has him over the moon with happiness.

i think one of the reasons the whole fuckboy trope in fanfic sucks is mostly because one of the bare minimum requirements of being a fuckboy is lacking any emotional depth which makes a story like . substanceless
like hypothetically i think its an interesting thing to explore. a character experiencing a bad break-up and kinda entering his villain arc only to regret it after meeting someone he’s actually interested in and no longer knows how to interact with them
that could be interesting. an interesting commentary on socialization in men. its not like theres no potential. but then its like… would that even be classified as a fuckboy story anymore? because you’re giving this character some genuine width and depth, cant that be considered a fuckboy?

snippet with the word shine or puppy! (if they’re not there in any, then just a snippet you really want us to see)
Ahhh thank you for the ask!!! Unfortunately neither of those words are in any of my fics, BUT!! The fic that I am the MOST excited about is ALSO the one I posted a snippet of the other day, which you mentioned that you were scared for, so I'm going to reassure you with a snippet from that same fic
Before Jason knows what he’s doing, he’s across the rooftop and wrapping Tim in his arms, clutching him to his chest. “What- what are you doing?” Tim asks, his body stiff as a board. “I’m fucking hugging you, okay?” Jason snaps at him, his hand cradling the back of Tim's head, his fingers twisting a bit in his hair. Tim doesn’t loosen up right away, but after a few moments, he moves, tentatively turning his head so his face is resting against Jason’s chest instead being smashed into it. Hesitantly, he lifts his arms and winds them around Jason’s waist, his palms slowly sliding across his back until he's wrapped around Jason, too. “I don’t remember this being something we do," Tim mumbles. “It wasn’t,” Jason says, his voice a little vicious. It wasn’t something they did because he’d been stupid, hadn’t reached for what he wanted when it was there. He’s not going to repeat that mistake. “…is it something we do now?” Tim asks, something like hope staining his words.  “Yes,” Jason tells him firmly, his arms tightening a fraction, the fingers of his right hand digging into Tim’s ribs.
Reminder that this is definitely going to be a long fic, and I'm only going to post a bit of it for Jaytimweek, so this snippet might not be in the first update I do. But I love this piece so much and your requested words were very soft, so I wanted to give you something soft <3
(Send me a word and I'll post a snippet from one of my jaytimweek fics that has that word in it)

I rarely shave my Harry (I love him either way) so I missed this in-game:
Tumblr media
The only part? At first Kim would strike me as a person who enjoys meticulous routine, a ritual - but maybe he sees it as another natural aspect of himself to tame, control?
Hear me out. He tells Harry this if you shave:
Tumblr media
We know Kim doesn’t like to see Harry suffer unnecessarily, and looking at his naked face just serves to remind them both of what Harry had endured -polio, addiction, etc.
This made me wonder what Kim sees shaving himself as - conforming to an image of a regular RCM officer, a simple hygienic necessity, a habit? Or a way to not hide behind additional layers like his glasses and stoicism?
How is it connected to his self-perception of a Vacholiere instead of Seolite?
Bonus points for Mazov’s beard, Garte being called “babybeard” by Cuno and this:
Tumblr media
Edit: how could I forget what made me screenshot that at all - Kim likes the way aftershave tingles on his skin. Okay Lieutenant Kim “SpeedfreakFM” Kitsuragi that definitely does not say anything about you at all. 🤨

these chapter 89 and 90 coloured pages came to haunt me today
Tumblr media Tumblr media
things to point out:
- gojo: the covered eye + the infinity halo (obviously referencing his technique and positioned sideways on his head over the exposed eye)
- kenjaku/geto: the halo within an halo (like kenjaku within geto) + kenjaku's stitches looking like they're being shot from his/geto's hand as if they were made of blood (the angle almost makes it seem like he's pointing at gojo when the pictures are positioned together)
- the opposite colour palettes (black and white with the pop of blue for his eyes and white/yellow-ish halo vs colourful palette with great focus on red, green and blue)
a curiosity about halos in jjk is that they're not used - apart from hana - in the traditional sense associated with the idea of heaven or angels. they are usually stylistic and are linked with the characters and the motifs in their stories. the only two other characters i'm aware of having been drawn with a halo over their heads in the volumes' illustrations have been rika and toji - rika's like a floral crown (possibly tying with yuuta and their promise to marry each other) and toji's a simple halo (probably symbolising his lack of cursed energy).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
they're, coincidentally (or not!!!!), all characters that have been considered dead at this point in time. additionally, all of them have managed to live on beyond death somehow. well, except gojo. unless you count his enlightenment and figurative death during hidden inventory as his first but he didn't really die. he did, however, lose his life in the fight against sukuna (or so we think). is this is a hint that he will come back? not sure. but it's a curious detail nonetheless

I just noticed something in Scream and it’s stressing me out far more than it should.
So, Scream 2 was filmed in 1997 we all know that, but it’s set in 1998 two years after the events of Scream 1996. In Scream 6, Nancy Loomis and Mickey Altieri’s deaths are quoted to be in 1997 but wouldn’t they have died in ‘98? I did some Googling and almost everywhere says Scream 2 was set in 1998 and I’m sorry but that make far more sense than it being in 1997.
I may just be over analysing but I hate continuity errors

I find it funny how LITTLE the Digimon universe doesn't like... acknowledge that many Digimon can make permanent changes to their data by taking someone else's. I'm not talking like, data absorption to grow (evolve), but instances like Gabumon being stated to make a pelt out of shed Garurumon data, or Gatomon grafting Saberleomon data to her claws, which then seems to be a "species standard" in those cases. We have subspecies dependent on weather like Hyogamon or Snowagumon. I am unsure why this isn't more commonly stated across more species or even in lore that it can happen easily. It honestly gives OCs super free reign to have unusual features or changes, yet it's VILIFIED by many fans & they often harass people who make unique OCs based on canon species with a few changes. I find that stupid. Wouldn't you want to be free? It's right there. There is ZERO canon reasons why you can't have a purple Gabumon with an Ikakkumon pelt, for one example. I suppose one could argue too much isn't a Gabumon anymore (in that example), but I would think that's entirely up to the Digimon to say with their monikers. Anyway.

In all the posts I regularly see begging or coaxing or (frankly) sometimes bullying readers into giving fic writers more active engagement by way of comments and reblogs, there’s an element I think is too often overlooked—and I am bringing it up because I imagine a lot of readers don’t realize this unless they’re also writers themselves—which is that posting fic publicly is, at its heart, a practice of real vulnerability.
I mean. Maybe I am projecting here. I’m not great with being vulnerable so maybe I feel this more than some. But I find it frustrating when people describe fic writers and readers as having a transactional relationship, and acting as though readers “owe” authors comments. I don’t believe that’s what fandom is about. What I do think, though, is that every time writers post a fic, they are sharing a part of themselves—a reflection of their minds and hearts and desires and creativity—and they need to feel safe to do that. And the interpersonal connection and affirmation that comes from a reader showing they actually read and enjoyed the product of that work, that they see what we are putting forward—that they see that part of us and embrace it—is what builds that safe space for writers to feel comfortable in.

btw (I say, several months later) I'm not on here often and I barely check my notifs because something something digital self harm and I pretty much don't scroll on any socmed because I don't trust anyone
straight up I've gotten kys type messages from people who are on either extreme end of this Very Horrific And Bad Long-Running Situation because they think I'm obviously on the opposing side
which kind of just goes to show me how rotten the discourse is, that any discussion results in "you either agree with every single one of my points or you fully support genocide of one of these ethnic groups, so fall in line"
nah. that's the far-right type of strategy that y'all claim to hate so much, but you're doing it anyways lol. you just can't get enough of those rigid binaries huh.
