A new WIP!
I’d love to hear about To A Fault if you feel like giving a little hint!
Well it's the official title for the Gaz angst fic that I teased here
In other words, this:
Gaz laughs, a strangled sob catching in his throat as he places his hands on either side of Soap's head.
"I could never be mad at you, mate." Gaz squeezes slightly, and Soap shudders slightly at the madness so evident in Gaz's eyes.
"You've done nothing wrong, after all."
*chanting slowly gets louder*

thinking about the reboot mw games collectively and it’s so sadly unfortunate because like. when put up against the other two, mwiii fails so visibly.
first of all you’ve got their thesis/emotional core, right. for mw19, it’s all about the personal motivation of being a solider, the cost of war on an individual. what it means to fight and discovering the importance of what you’re fighting for. for mwii, it’s about trust. the importance of knowing that your team has each others backs, the weight that it has between individuals. what happens when that trust is broken and how it’s found again through vulnerability, because that’s how you truly know you’re there for each other.
and then there’s mwiii..? you should let your sergeant kill a prisoner illegally so said prisoner, when he breaks out of maximum security prison, doesn’t kill your sergeant 4 years later? you should illegally kill people who piss you off (shepherd)? sure there’s the whole “never bury your enemies alive”, but where does that come in to play outside of the soap/makarov interaction? it’s definitely not a valid reason for price to kill an american general in his own office. they could’ve used it for graves if they wanted to take it a step further, but no— graves doesn’t betray the team again, for whatever reason. we’re expected to consider him just a much a member of the team as anyone else, and the narrative treats him as such outside of a few bristly reactions to his involvement.
secondly i take a huge issue with how characters were handled in mwiii. literally everyone is here, and there is no reason for several of them to be. alex felt like a cameo— you see him actually on screen for maybe 30 seconds. farah’s missions feel forced for the sake of her involvement. not that farah shouldn’t be in this game, but makarov’s flimsy reasoning for targeting the ulf is so clearly an excuse to involve her. it feels very random and transparent as a decision to reuse her character because she’s familiar. again with graves— why is he here? i still genuinely do not understand why they decided to retcon his death. it was a perfect arc for mwii to kill him, and him being alive adds absolutely nothing to the story. he has nothing to do in mwiii and there is zero reason for his involvement other than “people liked him in mwii and he has a cool accent.”
within the 141, it’s mostly rehashing of the growth/personality that each of them showed in previous games. none of them have an arc, except maybe price if you’re willing to call the *post credit scene* where he commits cold blooded murder a completion of an arc. gaz, soap, and ghost are static versions of themselves that simply are just … there for most of the plot. they’re not out of character or ruined, but none of them individually have anything going on that can’t be tied back to price.
i think a lot of it comes down to the way they tried to shoehorn mwiii into the original trilogy’s storyline. people loved those games, and nostalgia sells. i don’t think it’s a coincidence that makarov was a big marketing factor for this game— and that’s not to say that mw19 or mwii didn’t abuse that either, but in execution you can feel the difference. price, gaz, soap and ghost are all their own characters miles away from their original trilogy counterparts. makarov… isn’t. he’s a poorly written villain riding on the success of the original trilogy— he’s scary because he’s *makarov*, not because he’s a real threat. it’s cheap. the knockoff “no russian” mission felt insulting. it’s a callback with no real impact in the story, just simply “look! remember when we did this in 2009 and everyone loved it?”
and all of it culminates into a shit ending with shock factor that it tries to make you feel emotional. i’m not sad over this character death. i’m mad, because it’s unearned and lazy. i realize it’s a lot to ask a multi-billion dollar corporation to actually put effort into their stories, but… it’s such a let down when the previous games actually had at least an ounce of passion. i’m just still so disappointed with this game ruining what could’ve been a really interesting and unique story.

I can Makarov simp i mean to each their own but ngl i really hate it when writers try write him as good person or give him a redemption arc or wtver 😭 this could be me being petty cuz i dont like ruzz military but i just really dislike it at this point he is an oc you destoryed his character
Yeah I can agree with you on that, tbh this fandom does have a habit of turning fanon!characters into literally the opposite of their canon!characters. Like turning Ghost, who's an SA survivor, into a rapist or turning Johnny into a uwu twink or Gaz into a sweet UwU baby or a stereotypical black guy character. Just make your own oc at that point.
And yeah, i can't see Makarov as anything but a villain. Sure he can have his 'nice' moments but he's no saint and never will be

ZIMPAI STORY PART 6: A CONFESSION OF OBSESSION 🥺👉👈
(YALL THIS IS GONNA BE THE LAST PART FJDJFDJ CUZ I HAVE TO END THIS WEIRD STORY BEFORE I BURN ANYONE ELSES BRAINCELLS AGAIN)
(AND THIS IS GONNA BE MY THING FOR ZIMDAY/IZDAY LOL)
Tumblr media
———-
“LIEEESSS!” The alien desperately screeched out loud on the top of his lungs (or whatever aliens had). Dib raised an eyebrow in confusion, distracting him from the overwhelming sadness he was trying to hide. “I…uhhh- didn’t say anything…?”
Zimpai blinked and tried to regain his composure. He slowly took a step back and tried to escape. Dib-chan tilted his head, and his hair bone scythe hair cowlick thingy turned into a light bulb as a thought struck him. “C-could it be…”
Just as the big headed boy opened his mouth to let out his undeniably kawaii anime voice, Zim-kun began to run and covered his nonexistent ears.
“Z-Zimpai has…a…a…”
Dib-Chan’s delicate pretty voice suddenly became deep and sounded like he was a macho and buff man. “CRUSHY WUSHY LUSHY USHY BLUSHY CRUSHY ON MEEEE!11!1!1!1!11”
The yell was so loud and ear piercing that the whole ground collapsed while everything around Dib got pushed away by 999999999 kilometers.
This was so powerful that even Gaz became flabberGAZted by this and was more concerned than ever. “TAK- WHY THE ACTUAL HELL DID YOU MAKE THE ANIME BEAM DO THIS???”
Tak, despite her messy hair and being literally yeeted away by an incredibly long distance from a pathetic lover boy, was still smiling smugly and just shrugged. “I had the most tragic villain story from the most stupid defective Irken of destruction demolishing a vending machine. His stupid lover obviously has to be as insane as he is.”
Back with our main character idiots here, Dibby boi realised what he has done and sobbed, “Z-Zimpai my pookie…! I didn’t mean to hurt you like thisss…!!” (he obviously did lolll)
From 999 something kilometers whatever that number I typed earlier (oh wait I can copy and paste but oh well) away, the green space cockroach creechur growled, “GRGRGRRR YOUUU…!! YOUUUU!! WHEN YOU YOUUU!11!1!1 YOUUU MADE ME MAAADDD GRGRGRGRHDIEJDEKJ” (bro this space boi couldn’t hear dib a shmillion times even when he was 1 inch away from him but now he can-)
(wAIT I SHOULD MAKE LESS BRACKETED TEXTS SORRY-)
Instead of apologizing again, Dib got mad at Zim too because it would be too out of character if the boys didn’t fight each other here as it was still an ENEMIES to lovers arc after all.
Deeb Doob Dob Dib’s voice became all buff again as he himself became buff too, electricity surging all around him. He then ascended from the ground, T-posing and let the mysterious anime power carry him towards the alien.
The alien boi zimmediately tried to become as buff as Dibby boi did by casually grabbing a machine that was 69 420 times his size in his PAK and blasted himself with it, causing his scrawny-looking green arms to develop more and more muscles and become as buff as Dib was.
The boys just stared each other down, eyes glowing while T-posing in front of each other.
Tumblr media
Dib-chan then broke the silence that lasted for 10 hours by saying in a small and cute voice while still in that buff state
“…Z-zim-kun I… I… l-love y-you…”
Zim then reverted back to his cutesy smol chibi shape and responded with a little “B-baka!!” even when Dib didn’t finish the sentence.
Tumblr media
Surprised by that, the big headed boy also reverted back into his original pathetic form and giggled, “I love you….your mom!” He laughed even more and smirked. Zim was taken aback and felt his heart— whatever aliens had shatter into smithereens. Was this really how Dib felt…? Was it all just a silly little game…?
Before Zim could take get out his PAK legs to absolutely destroy and obliterate the human, Dib laughed once more and threw that one love letter to Zim, smacking his face and not the back of his bald head this time.
“Nahhh! Just kidding, and uh- happy birthday, I guess…” Dib looked away quickly as the butterflies returned in his stomach. Dang it— he forgot how cute his crush looked despite how stupid he was…
“Ehhh- birthday?? Invaders don’t NEED pathetic Urth birthdays!”
“Yeah, yeah— but today is still special, y’know? It’s the day you set your little alien foot on this planet!”
Zim tried not to smile at his beloved nemesis remembering AND writing some letter to him for this day. But then…
“WAIT! How did you know it’s today?? We met at the disgusting skool one or two days after I landed on this filthy planet!!”
Dib smiled and responded, “I’m a paranormal investigator! Of COURSE I know the exact day an alien comes here!”
“You were a creepy stalker from the start, Dib-thing… even before becoming those… yhaaan-deers…”
“You’re creepy too, y’know!! And you were so weird too! In fact- everything was so weird earlier… nothing new, I guess!” Dib chuckled.
Zim coughed and shifted his eyes away from Dib, yet getting closer beside him. “…Yeah. Very…strange…”
Dib-ch- I mean DIB noticed this and leaned closer and closer to Zim and….
HELD HIS HANDDDD!1?1!?!1?11!1! SO SCANDALOUS!! THE END-
(Just kidding :3)
Tumblr media
…he affectionately smooched the bug boy’s cheek! This gesture was so sweet that even the usually cold Gaz let out an “awww!” along with every other bystander around them!
The gay boys finally completed their enemies to lovers arc….
…until the cartoon resets again and everyone forgot what happened !
The end uwu

Hi sleepy! Just popping in to say that I love your drawing of Gaz and Lewis Hamilton 🫶 also, can I know your thoughts on the Bahrain gp? Thanks!
Hello! Thank you so much! 🤗
Max being Max. He was watching 'Dune 2' after lap 5 on a built-in Netflix on his steering wheel.
Checo mi vida mi rey being Checo, overtaking people from P5 P4 and maintaining the P2. So fine. So handsome. Truly the Minister of Defense. MI CHEQUITO ❤️‍🔥
Sainz STARTING HIS VILLAIN ARC.
Leclerc from the get go getting problems on the brakes 💀 I feel so bad for him at this point
Russel at first started really great, though he regressed through the middle of the race, I think he'll improve through the season. For Hamilton, it's too early to tell this early. He's the goat for a reason.
Zhou actually SHOWING UP. I really hope for the best for Zhou. Bottas' pit stop accident is plain ol' bad luck. It's so unfortunate that front left mechanic is getting FLAMED 💀💀
The one that catches my attention is Ricciardo and Tsunoda's thing... I genuinely feel bad for Yuki. He had the lead. RB wanted to get Ricciardo to go to the front cuz he got fresher tires, and it's a sound decision actually, but I still do feel bad. HOWEVER, the fact that Yuki overtook Ricciardo in the last lap will have some negative effects on the entire team. Yuki is known for his temper, and I do believe that he needs to tone it down. RB's gonna need some REAL evaluation 💀
There's a lot more happening, but I'm really hopeful for the whole season!

The Day’s Masterpiece
(Words of Radiance re-read)
I can’t linger since I need to wake up at 5am tomorrow, but just gotta mention
I’m hyped about Shallan’s arc in this part of the book. It brings me much joy to see her growth, being confident and asking for things in ways I could never. (Severely tongue-tied anxious introvert here)
Even more, I like seeing characters we met (almost in similar places) last book in a Kaladin context interacting with Shallan. It’s so interesting to have Gaz turn into a prominent member of Shallan’s crew. From villain to reluctant ally, and all the future awkwardness that brings.
Shallan is outwardly so competent that maybe it’s unrealistic, but it’s a fantasy I still admire.

Invader Zim Deathmatch:
ROUND 3, FIGHT 4:
ZIB VS INVADER SKOODGE!
Tumblr media
The rules are as follows:
1. We’re assuming that both participants actively want and are willing to kill each other unless actively specified otherwise (for example: Chammy Wamboo).
2. The fight must be one on one so no outside help is allowed, but prep time is allowed.
3. The rule for prep time is that if one contestant gets prep time, the other contestant gets an equal amount of prep time as well.
4. The Zib Clause: “In any fight between Zib and an irken, we are assuming that either Zib does not have access to his dib virus or that the irken he’s fighting is immune to said virus”
[Masterpost]
Information about both contestants (who they are, powers and abilities, etc) can be found under the cut.
Contestant Stats:
Zib:
“Number 1”
Appearances:
Zib is the main villain of the Zimvoid Arc, spanning Issues 46-49 of the comics
Powers and abilities:
Enhanced strength (Dib shows various feats of superhuman strength throughout the series, like smashing through a wall for example (possibly because he’s a clone that’s been genetically modified). As an alternate Dib, Zib has the same abilities, possibly more so due to his stolen PAK)
Enhanced agility and stamina (Dib also shows various feats of superhuman agility, stamina and acrobatic skills throughout the series (once again possibly because he’s a clone that’s been genetically modified). As an alternate Dib, Zib has the same abilities, possibly more so due to his stolen PAK)
Enabled Durability (Dib consistently shows throughout the series that he’s remarkably durable, surviving getting blown up, thrown through walls, etc (Try to guess why that may be). As an alternate Dib, Zib has the same abilities, possibly more so due to his stolen PAK)
Increased Intelligence (Dib is one of, if not the smartest humans in the show. He’s cunning, crafty, able to find and capitalize of his opponent’s weaknesses, has shown himself to be able to modify and use pre-existing alien tech for his own purposes and knows how to make his own devices from scratch. Zib not only has Dib’s regular intelligence, but shows that he also has some of Zim’s extreme intelligence due to his stolen PAK, managing to build a scaled up replica of one of Zim’s old inventions from (stolen) memory)
Stolen training (as Zib has access to Zim’s memories, he may also have access to some of Zim’s military training. Elite level fighting capability)
Supernatural knowledge (Dib is extremely knowledgeable on all things supernatural and has successfully used at least two magic devices (a Spelldrive in Gaz; Taster Of Pork and a (faulty) Freezing Talisman in one of the unfinished episodes, showing that he generally knows how to operate them)
PAK (PAK legs, PAK lasers, shield generator, all the things an Irken PAK can do)
Fun Fact:
Zib may or may not be a reference to the Fake Episode “Invader Dib” and a reference to the Unmade Episode “10 Minutes To Doom”.
Skoodge:
“The Almighty Smallest”
Appearances:
Skoodge appears in “The Nightmare Begins”, “Battle Of The Planets” and “Hobo 13”. He also has a cameo appearance in “Dookie Loop Horror”
Powers and abilities:
Irken physiology (can lift over 3 times their body weight and is extremely durable)
PAK (PAK legs, PAK lasers, shield generator, all the things an Irken PAK can do)
Elite military training (Skoodge is an Invader, meaning that he went through irken military training and became an elite soldier before going through Invader training. This means that Skoodge has the combat skills of an elite soldier)
Superior Invader training (as an Invader, Skoodge is trained in espionage, stealth, sabotage, and other invader-related things. Skoodge is also the single best Invader the Empire has, taking over his planet the fastest out of everyone and being seen conquering another planet in Dookie Loop Horror)
Fun Fact:
If the series continued, Skoodge would have begun living in Zim’s base. More specifically his ventilation system.

Mimic Chapter 43
Tumblr media
Fighting for love and friendship can Class 1-A return their classmate that is near and dear to all of them.
Words- 6154
Izuku Midoriya x Reader
Warnings: Angst, fighting, Class 1-A vs Midoriya, just sad reader and Izuku relationship, TARTARUS ESCAPEES ARC SPOILERS
Silence filled the halls of U.A. as you all walked through them. No words were spoken between any of you as you headed to Principal Nezu’s office. Just leaving the dorms you felt heightened with fear and nerves as you kept yourself hidden behind your classmates but the refugees could catch glimpse of you believing you a ghost, a white flash or red eyes peering back at them sent the turning in the opposite direction or pulling their kids away from you. Mina’s hand was in yours squeezing it in comfort but it didn’t bring any relief from the fear in each of them.
“Principal…this was a trap?!” Endeavor groans seeing your class together having blocked the one exit out his scans over you all almost hesitating seeing your face amongst the students.
“I heard the children out and determined that this meeting was warranted. I’m always open to change based on the facts.” Nezu admits and Endeavor sighs his back towards you all.
“Why have you been ignoring me?” Todoroki steps forward to his father, “I thought…we were going to stop Touya together!”
“Shoto…your willingness alone means the world to me.” Endeavor says a look of regret covers his face.
“Well, it doesn’t mean much to me without action. Why is Midoriya the only one with a free pass?! Endeavor…you’re letting Deku and All Might operate together aren’t you?” Todoroki yells at him and the hero's lack of silence answers his question.
“Thought so…” Bakugo says stepping forward, “In any situation, it was the right move. But you don’t know the first thing about Deku…He’s screwed up in the head. The guy never takes himself into account. Just says crap like ‘I’m fine.’ All Might became the Symbol of Peace with the same mindset. So he won’t be the one to stop Deku. Listen Endeavor! You can’t leave those two alone with each other! Not them!”
Endeavor is silent before slowly pulling out a phone, “But…”
“Yo. Does that thing have GPS tracking?” Sero points out and Endeavor stays silent before tossing the device and Sero, Hagakure, Mineta, and Koda go diving toward it.
“M-mind if we borrow this sir?! Cuz…well…it’s only by chance I wound up in the same class as the guy, but still!” Sero breathes out clutching the phone like it was made of glass.
“I feel the same way…we’ve only spent a year together…but that’s plenty,” Koda whispers.
“He never opened up to us about One For All…and he expected that letter to put us at ease. That came as a shock to us.” Todoroki says looking to the floor.
“We of Class A intend to find him, follow him, and work alongside him. No matter how great a burden One For All may be…Midoriya is our friend. And we can’t very well be expected to go smiling into the future…knowing that our friend is walking this thorny path alone.” Iida says.
“It’s too dangerous out there. Law and Order are a thing of the past. Even you kids would be-” Endeavor speaks up.
“You’ve certainly matured…Todoroki! Given the villains now pursue him…and that he wished to leave U.A. I authorized the team-up. However, he’s free to return to us at any time.” Nezu says and you all are shocked, “From the moment a student is accepted into this school..they fall under our protection.”
“But what about the safety of the evacuees..? Among them, there’s still..” “A proper evacuation shelter must be more than simply a plot of land. I shall have to reassure them somehow. Our security system was fortified for the school festival though it has yet to see any use. I’m talking about the U.A. barrier. It will prove its worth. In any case, All Might also attended this school you know?” Nezu says before he looks over meeting your gaze, “And with the current occupants haven’t caused any problems or alerted much.” Endeavor turns meeting your cold gaze as you look back at him. It only seemed like yesterday when you joined his agency excited to learn more about hero work and now you lost everything an empty shell of a person.
“So, go on…do what you must to bring them back to us,” Nezu says with final approval. Your class dispute many returning to the dorm while a few of you stay back, Todoroki speaking final words to his father before he turns leaving frustration on his face. Endeavor watches as his son leave before his gaze moves to meet yours.
“Shimura..” He breathes out.
“Endeavor.” You respond your voice chilling as the two of you stand looking at each other.
“I’m sorry for everything that's-” He goes to speak but you cut him off.
“I’m tired of apologizes Endeavor, it’s not going to do anything.” You say shoving your hands in your pockets, “Not going to give my quirk back, heal my body, bring back Izuku..nothing. Just tell me he’s okay.”
His face is deep with regret and pity, you lived enough for one child’s life and continued to live more. “He’s going through a lot…more than any of us..he’s alive but well…I can’t say.”
You nod before sharply turning and walking out of the room Mina and Kirishima follow after you her hand slipping within yours same with the boy. “We’ll find Midoriya,” Kirishima says squeezing your hand.
“It’s not that I don’t believe you’ll find him..it’s if you can get him to come back is what I fear.” You say. That boy’s will and mind would exceed anything humanly possible. It would take the full force of your class to bring that boy down.
So they prepared following where he traveled until their plan was created and the day came Midoriya appeared in Kamino Ward right at the statue commemorating the fight between All Might and All For One..the moment when you really learned about yourself.
“You won’t come..” Mina says surprised when they all convened in the common area of the dorm all dressed in their hero costumes but you appeared dressed in your school uniform.
“I’ll just be a liability during the fight against Midoriya…you all need to keep your heads sharp not constantly thinking about me.” You say rubbing your arm absentmindedly tracing the scars along your arm.
“None of us think that besides if we’re doing this as a class we’ll need everyone’s help,” Kaminari says trying to convince you but you shake your head.
“I would only paint a target on all of your backs. It’s safer if I stay behind for everyone’s safety. If All For One knows that I’m still alive we don’t if he might strike and try to take One For All from both Midoriya and me if we are together.” You explain…as far as the world knew outside of U.A. and a few selected Pro Heroes, Y/n Shimura died on the battlefield her injuries too severe, and had passed. It wasn’t hard to get a few N.D.A for doctors involved in your time during surgery and during recovery. Your death record was quickly created and Y/n Shimura was a dead woman. For the few the had seen you with the public information saying you were dead people wouldn’t believe a few conspiracies despite the fact that you were alive. It was safer that remained isolated away from populated areas from the fight away from the outside world.
“You’re not some prisoner here! You should be able to join us-” “IT WAS MY DECISION.”
“I have no quirk…I haven’t trained at all since returning just drop it please!” You say ending the conversation and silence covers the room…”I’m sorry…just be safe all of you.” You say looking at each of them and they nod saying their goodbyes before heading out for their mission. To get Izuku Midoriya back.
And as Midoriya lies there the rain pours down on him letting the civilians attack him and his will to fight leaves. An explosion from the sky hits the villain right on the head stopping his quirk.
“That punk…He’s here guys!” Bakugo yells out and that’s when they all jump into action a wave of ice freezes the villain and places restraints placed on him.
“Prison escapee secured! Splendid work, Bakugo!” Momo calls out.
“That’s Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight to you!” Bakugo growls out and the girl apologizes.
“Everyone…but why..?” Midoriya huffs out.
“We’re worried about you.” Uraraka calls and Midoriya shakes his head grabbing his mask secured to his face.
“But…I’m fine. So don’t worry…and get away from me..” He says
“Wow, real inspirin’,” Bakugo cackles clapping obnoxiously, “All hail the mighty inheritor of One For All! But tell us this…are you smilin’ now?” Bakugo yells at the boy and his silence responds.
“Those smiles…everyone’s peace of mind. Those are the reasons I need to keep going, so…” One For All fills his veins a menacing presence surrounding him, “GET OUT OF MY WAY!”
“DO YOUR WORST, YOU ALL MIGHT WANNABE!!” “We knew Midoriya would be the same as ever. Stand strong everyone!”
“We heard how you unlocked the fourth and sixth! You damn nerd!” Bakugo yells out and Midoriya straight at them.
“...you all came or me. Thanks, but…” Midoriya speaks up before a smoke completely clouds their vision.
“Don’t let him get away!” Bakugo yells out slamming his gauntlet to the ground and sending an explosion that clears out the smoke, “Don’t wanna chat, uhh? You just gonna sneak off then? So now that you’re one of the all-powerful big shots…are we just a buncha NPCs to you?!” As Midoriya rushes away a flock of birds scoops him in midair.
“They said you could come back to school!! You hear that Midoriya?” Koda yells out for once in his life at the boy, “The principal is ready to welcome you back! Got that?! So stop running away!”
Midoriya shoots Blackwhip at the building pulling away from Koda’s attack but is intercepted by Sero and his tape.
“The Blackwhip of yours is kinda freaky. No wonder people are scared!” Sero yells out as Midoriya twists himself free from the tape right in the range of Jiro’s earphone jacks. Using airforce to dodge the sonic waves.
“Hey, Midoriya! I dunno if it’ll matter but for what it’s worth..remember when you helped me organize my notes and gave me tips for the school festival? You really helped me back then! It might not seem like much, but I appreciated that so much!” Jiro yells out at him and Ojiro jumps in his tail wrapping around the boy.
“Remember that stuff with Shinso, back at the Sports Festival?! I’ll never forget how mad you got…on my behalf!! So how can I sit back when you’re the ONLY ONE fighting and running yourself ragged out here? My presence is a danger to all of you!” Ojiro yells out and is shocked that Midroiya breaking free from his grasp. Flashes of the events during the battle with Shigaraki flash through his mind. All those who got hurt.
“I CAN’T LET ALL FOR ONE TAKE YOU ALL AWAY FROM ME! THAT’S WHY I HAD TO LEAVE!” Midoriya yells breaking free only to be grabbed by Tokoyami and Dark Shadow.
“Thurst, Dark Shadow!!” Tokoyami yells out and Midoriya is slammed into the building.
“He’s gotten way too strong!” Jiro yells out having been grabbed by Sato.
“Serious strength of will too,” Ojiro adds.
“Midoriya! Open your ears!” Sato yells out landing on a traffic light holding the two of his classmates, “You might have some special power but…we understand how you feel! We all feel the same way! Plus, there's what Koda said about the school! You gotta hear us out! If not….I’m never lending you food dye for Eri’s candy apples ever again!”
Midoriya hits a pillar of cement held down by Dark Shadow and metal straps come over him. “That’s fine! Eri…doesn’t need me. It doesn’t have to be me!” A mask comes down on him covering his face.
“You should know that we intended to join you in your efforts. We’ve been authorized to use our quirks to aid Endeavor and the other heroes…for this mission to ensure your safety,” Momo says looking down at the boy, the machine to make him sleep, he slams his head forward breaking the machine and Tokoyami makes his hold on him stronger.
“Enough…stop wasting effort…on me!” Midoriya pushes himself to his feet pushing forward, “Just get away from me…!”
“Not a chance, pal!” Kaminari says wrapping his arm around his shoulder with a smile on his face, “Midoriya! We get that One For All is really important but…you got something even more important in your life! Me and you..we ain’t got a ton in common, but you’re still a friend! Even if we gotta force this friendship down your throat!”
Arms wrap around Midoriya and Kaminari, Shoji, “This is insulating tape Yaoyorozu made for my tentacles..’a lineup like this might even give All Might a scare’ That’s what you said during the attack on our training camp.” Shoji says and Dark Shadow appears fully encasing the two boys.
“Dark Shadow indulges in the darkness. Repurposing Dark Shadow’s offense in service of defense…was a concept birthed by you Midoriya.” Tokoyami says.
“Do you see us as more victims who need protection and coddling?!” Shoji yells out.
“And don’tcha miss bathing?! You need a bath real bad Midoriya!!” Kaminari yells out electricity sparking off his body. A scream rips through Midoriya as he breaks free from Dark Shadow’s Ragnarok hurtling out of the building into the air.
“He pried apart the bindings of Ragnarok!”
“UGHHH! STOP! STOP ALREADY!!” SO PLEASE GET AWAY FROM ME. I’M BEGGING YOU! I MEAN IT! I’M FINE!!” Midoriya yells out his mask fallen from his face, the dirt and sweat cover his face but the tiredness clearly seen in his face. A pillar of ice suddenly appears and Midoriya slams into it trapped inside.
“What a look you have on your face…is this responsibility…so much for you that you can’t even let yourself cry?” Todoroki calls out to him on top of the ice, “Seems like a burden…you should share with the rest of us.”
“Not so fast.” Tsuyu calls out on the side of one of the buildings, “Because you matter to me. You’re my friend, and when we’re scared, we tremble together. When times are tough, we cry together. So, if you’re dead set on being some comic book superhero…then Class A won’t let you live that fantasy alone.”
The ice cracks from underneath Todoroki, “Midoriya! Did you ever think that maybe All For One wants you in this state? He might seize this chance to attack U.A.!! Running around to keep off the radar has left you looking like, well, THAT! So at least consider this backup plan! U.A. matters to you, right? You want to protect it! Shimura’s at U.A. now! How can you protect her if you’re out here? Sticking with us is a valid option!! LET US JOIN YOUR FIGHT!!”
“No. Can’t.” Midoriya shakes his head One For All cracking the ice and breaking him free, “This fight is between…One For All and All For One. YOU ALL CAN’T KEEP UP.” Bursting free Midoriya shoots into the air.
“Midoriya!” Tsuyu yells out swiping her tongue out and Midoriya dodges in midair but something attaches to him looking back he sees Mineta attached with a chain of his quirk.
“I never thought it was your power that made you awesome! I feel for you…when you were scared and sweating buckets…and quaking in your boots! Back when we found a path forward together the way you were back then!” Mineta yells out tears in his eyes. Blackwhip shoots out of Midoriya sending Mineta back.
“Sorry, Mineta! That old me is gone…” Midoriya yells out Blackwhip attaching to two buildings in almost a slingshot preparing blackwhip, 45% of One For All and Fa Jin.
“You’re not going anywhere!” Uraraka yells out coming down from above him, “Things are different now…including me!” Midoriya shoots past Uraraka far up in the air, “NOW GUYS!!”
A ramp of ice was quickly created most of the class on top of it. “Acidman! Protective coating style at 0.1 percent acidity!” Mina yells out creating a covering in front of Bakugo and Todoroki.
“GO TODOROKI!” The two boys are shot forward with Dark Shadow shoving them forward and with Flashfreeze Heatwave, the two are up in the air. Speeding past Uraraka who touches them with their quirk to make them weightless they move faster.
“You say we can’t keep up, huh?!” Todoroki yells out and Bakugo blast forward.
“BLASTING SPEED TURBO…CLUSTER!!” Bakugo yells out. There were many things he had to say but for now, he was handing the mic to a guy built for the speed. Letting out a fierce explosion their class president is sent flying into the air and he reaches Midoriya latching onto his hand.
“But, No…You can’t…! Just let go!” Midoriya cries out tears flooding his eyes.
“I WILL NOT!” Iida yells out looking at the boy, “Ingenium the hero…will dash across the land to take a lost child by the hand. ‘Because giving help that’s not asked for…is what makes a true hero.’.” Bringing Midoriya closer to him looking down as Uraraka releases her quirk the two are sent hurtling down. “How can I…stick this landing?” Seeing a faint red within the rain. Kirishima! The two lands within his arms and are sent skidding back on the ground.
“WHOA! Are you okay?!” Hagakure yells out running up to them.
“I…WON’T BREAK!! Midoriya! A while back…this one story threw me for a loop! Some kid my age dashed into danger to save a pal! That had to be you right?!” Kirishima yells at the boy as he lets go of Iida still holding onto Midoriya, “That didn’t have squat to do with special powers or anything. What you did back then…is the same sorta action we’re taking for you now!”
“Stellar positioning on your part Kirishima.” Iida compliments the boy.
“Just happened to be there while following Endeavor’s orders, dude!” Kirishima replies as the rest of the class arrives.
“Midoriya!” Mina calls out wiping the rain from her face, “I can’t stand the thought of losing anyone else, ‘kay? So…won’t you stick with us? We’ve got classes to attend and stuff.” Midoriya pushes himself up but his classmates worried about the boy so weak.
“I’d like that…but…I’m too scared for all the people in U.A.! I don’t want to make trouble for anyone else! Things just…can’t go back to how they used to be. Not anymore.” Midoriya mumbles out exhaustion crawling at him but the will to fight is still present.
“Hey. Remember what I said when Shigaraki made swiss cheese outta me?” Bakugo steps forward to him. “No. I don’t.”
“It was ‘stop trying to win this on your own.’ But I had more to say. I needed to tell you that I got stabbed cuz my body moved on its own. Maybe to the fact that your damn girlfriend was screaming at me to keep you alive but that’s beside the point.” He shakes his head, “You know I always looked down on you cuz you were quirkless. You were supposed to be beneath me…but I kept feeling like you were above me. I hated it. I couldn’t beat to look at you. I couldn’t accept the way you were.” The boy confesses all his insecurities in front of Midoriya..in front of his classmates.
“So I kept you at arms length and was mean to you. I tried to act all superior by rejecting you…but I kept losing that fight. Since we got into U.A…nothing’s worked out how I thought it would. Instead, this past year forced me to understand your strength and my weakness. Now, I don’t expect this to change a thing between us, but I gotta speak…my truth.” Bakugo tilts his head down in shame.
“Izuku…I’m sorry for everything.”
The runaway hero’s eyes widened. All his life meeting Kacchan and becoming friends with him before it changed he was only referred to as Deku or Damn Nerd or any insult he could come up with. Hearing his name come out of his mouth meant something that seemed to break the walls he put up when he left U.A. The rain fills the air for a second before Bakugo speaks again, “There’s nothing wrong with the path you’ve been walking down…since inheriting One For All and following All Might’s lead. But now..you’re barely standing. And those ideals alone ain’t enough to get you over the wall you’re facing.” Bakugo points his hand out to his classmates, “We’re here to step in when you can’t handle it all on your own. Because to live up to those ideals and surpass All Might…we gotta save you the civilians at U.A., and the people on the streets. Because saving people is how we win.”
“Besides you got one hell of a woman ready to tear the world apart waiting for you when you come back.” Bakugo scoffs. But his words held meaning..your mind had only been focused on one thing and everything including your own life was less important.
Tears slip down Midoriya’s face though masked by the rain, “I said you all couldn’t keep up with me. I’m so sorry I said something…so awful.” He stumbles forward the exhaustion hitting him falling into Bakugo’s arms completely unconscious.
“We get it,” Bakugo says looking down at the boy everyone letting out a sigh of relief.
“With that our first challenge…is cleared. But the road ahead will be perilous.” Momo says to Uraraka stands beside her and looks forward as the rest of the class crowds around the boy.
“Yeah!”
You were sat in the dorm both Mirio and Eri with you the young girl was doodling on some paper a pair of cat headphones on her head as you sit beside her a soft smile on your smile watching her draw bobbing her head slightly to the music.
“You know she could it for you,” Mirio says and you look away from the girl to the boy sitting on the couch next to you. “She’s gotten better control of her quirk. She was able to do it for me she could do it for you.”
You’re silent looking back at the girl who is drawing a picture of herself, what looks like Midoriya and Mirio in their hero costumes, Aizawa surrounded by cats, and you with your white hair and red eyes. “I…It’s safer for others if I remain quirkless..as far as the rest of the world is concerned..Y/n Shimura is dead.” You say reaching your hand out petting the young girl’s hair and she doesn’t pay mind to it.
“But in the event, if we need to fight again…it would be smart to have all our fighters there. That includes you.” Mirio says and you still look at the young girl…how her life was so similar to you but she was saved she was able to smile and now have happy memories.
“I don’t know…if the world were to find out the sister of a war criminal was alive and had regained her quirk…it would cause a whole other war over it. It’s better that it stays like this.” You say and it’s quiet before a ringtone fills the room Mirio pulls out his phone looking at it before looking at you.
“They got Midoriya back.”
You worked on slipping on a coat dressed in regular clothes before fixing a hat over your head making sure your hair was hidden as Mirio buttoned up a raincoat on Eri helping her into rainboots.
“Where are we going?” Eri says curiously and you look back at her as you finish hiding your hair she comes over to you grabbing your hand while Miro grabs an umbrella for the three of you.
“We’re just meeting a friend who’s back.” You say a small smile on your face and Eri nods a smile growing on her face.
“A new friend?” She asks and you shake your head as you go to open the door heading outside Mirio is already ready with the umbrella.
“An old friend Eri, you’ll know him when you see him.” You say and the three of you head towards the front of U.A. where a large crowd has formed the rain falling down on all of you.
“DON’T LET THAT BOY TAKE ONE STEP...INTO U.A.!!” Someone yells out and the three of you make your way towards the front but to the side where you see your classmates standing there but you still couldn’t see him.
“They say Shigaraki was targeting some kid…and he’s the one isn’t he?!” Someone else yells out and you see Present Mic trying to calm them all down.
“Didn’t you all hear the principal’s explanation? He guaranteed our safety, no matter what.” Another voice speaks up.
“What, and you were convinced by that crap?! We abandoned our homes and came here cus we thought we’d be safe! So what’s this ticking time bomb here?!” A man yells out frustration and tension high.
“He’s just a child!” Another comment. “And! That girl was a child and was still All For One’s weapon… she and Shigaraki probably planned this whole thing..it’s a good thing she’s six feet under.” Someone yells out and you feel your heart skip a beat being spoken about. Eri tugs your hand and you look down at her.
“Who are they talking about?” She says her eyes wide with confusion.
“Just someone sweetheart nothing to worry about.” You say before you bend down pulling her up into your arms resting her on your hip and she rests her head on your shoulder. You make eye contact with Mirio who is looking back at you before you turned forward.
“Why’s it gotta be U.A., huh?! Let him hide someplace else!” “Having One For All makes him a Nomu right?!” “We’re just supposed to let him hide here?!” The crowd was a riot split between those who believe Midoriya should be able to stay and the others that want him to get outta here.
“Let’s keep calm folks!” Present Mic yells out and that’s when Best Jeanist appears.
“It’s Jeanist!!” “We’re only here because we trusted you!”
“Indeed! As the principal has explained, U.A. is currently the safest place to be! Your safety is our top priority! At first…we decide to take the fight to the enemy we used Izuku Midoriya as bait in hopes of learning the villains’ location! However our search grid wasn’t sufficiently wide enough, and the operation met with limited success!” Best Jeanist explains to you all, “Izuku Midoriya may be the villain’s target..but he is also one of our ultimate resources in battle! Allowing him to grow even more worn and frayed could lead to a fatal loss! Is this the optimal course of action? No! We now rely on our backup plan! I understand why you do not willingly welcome this omen of unease…but please allow him to rest his weary body in this secure stronghold! So that…when needed…he can once again join the battle in peak condition!” Best Jeanist finishes and silence fills the air before someone speaks up.
“You losers failed…and let Japan turn into this lawless wasteland. And now…you failed again…and you’re out here telling US…to pay the price for more of your mistakes?!”
“NO WAY!” “SOME HEROES YOU ARE!” “GIVE US A FREAKIN BREAK!! ALL WE WANT…IS A SAFE PLACE TO SLEEP AT NIGHT!” Panic quickly spread as they go to move forward your hold on the girl tightens as people push past you and Mirio and the blonde clutches your arm to keep the three of you together. In a flash, someone is above you all.
“Dek- Izuku Midoriya…has a special power in him!” Uraraka’s voice rings out through the megaphone in her hand as she stands on the top of the U.A. building.
“Yeah? Good for him! He wants a break? So what! He doesn’t gotta rest here!”
“You don’t get it!” Uraraka yells out, “He left school in the first place because he didn’t want to make trouble for anyone! We were the ones who brought him back! That power of his…yeah, it’s really special! It’s a power that exists to beat All For One! That’s why they’re after him! That’s why he had to leave this place!! He left…and went through who knows what’s out there. Take a good look at him!!”
You look over at him almost shocked at his appearance, his clothing is ripped up worse than during the fighting the green uniform is almost black with dirt and grime and it looks like he’s gotten a wink of sleep or anything to keep himself healthy. Had he even eaten? He was more focused tell you to keep yourself alive but he was on his last limbs. “More than anyone, he wishes he could fix everything. You’re looking at a guy who could be attacked at any second but continues to move forward anyway. SO REALLY LOOK AT HIM PLEASE!! SPECIAL POWERS ARE ONE THING!! BUT THERE’S NO SUCH THING AS A SPECIAL PERSON!”
“He’s looking ragged, huh?” “Kinda weak and worn-out..” “Yes, he’s been fighting.”  A woman speaks up, “He saved me out there…and he’s been fighting this whole time..” While many seemed torn now some were still unconvinced.
“You want us to look at him? So what?! Don’t tell me..that we should be covered in filth too?!!”
“NO! HEROES ARE THE ONLY ONES COATED IN THAT FILTH! SO GIVE HIM A MOMENT TO REST TO WASH AWAY THE GRIME! IF YOU WANT ME TO STAND UP HERE AND REASSURE YOU, I’M SORRY I CAN’T DO THAT RIGHT NOW! THAT’S BECAUSE WE’RE ALL GRIPPED BY THE SAME FEAR AND UNEASE” Uraraka yells out her own fear but almost confidence coming through,” WE’RE ALL NEIGHBORS HERE-INCLUDING HIM! PLEASE LEND HIM YOUR STRENGTH…SO WE HAVE A SHOT AT SMILING TOGETHER INTO THE FUTURE! WHAT HE NEEDS IS YOUR HELP! PLEASE! FIND IT IN YOUR HEARTS TO LET HIM REST AND RECOVER…TOGETHER WITH ALL OF US! IZUKU MIDORIYA…IS TRYING TO TAKE ON ALL THE RESPONSIBILITY THAT COMES WITH HIS POWER, BUT HE’S STILL GOT PLENTY TO LEARN HIMSELF! HE’S JUST A REGULAR HIGH SCHOOL KID!”
“Yeah, but…”
Midoriya hits the ground tears filling his eyes
“THIS PLACE…IS HIS…HERO ACADEMY! LET HIM STAY HERE!”
The girl within your arms shimmy out hitting the ground and rushing forward, “Eri!” you yell out trying to go after her but Mirio grabs your arm. You watch the young girl rush forward and you see a familiar boy and the same woman who was defending Midoriya.
Mineta rushes forward but Iida’s arm cuts him off, “Midoriya…what gives, Iida?”
“This…isn’t our moment,” Iida says looking up at the girl standing on the roof tears in her eyes, isn’t that right? Uraraka?
“Midoriya!! I’m sorry I was too scared to run over here! Sorry! So sorry!” Kota cries out tears pouring out of his eyes, “But then! That lady stood up and said that stuff! I…I had to try because I wanna be like you! That’s why…I am here! Get it? You don’t gotta cry anymore you’ll be okay!”
“Oh…Kota!” Midoriya cries out before another body collides with him and he looks up to see a small girl with light blue hair. She holds his face with light tears brim her eyes, “Don’t cry remember we look after each. We save each other!” Tears pour more down his face seeing the small girl he saved in front of him.
“Eri…”
“You’re a U.A. student then?” The woman says pulling the boy to his feet as Eri stays by his feet.
“Yes, Miss!”
“Several shelters turned me away…no heteromorphs allowed they said. It was one rejection after the next until U.A. finally took me in. But, well this means I get to see you again. How lucky for me. Thank you for saving me…my crybaby hero.” She thanks him bending down and hugging him and Kota and Eri join in hugging the poor boy. The rain still pours down on all of you before a man steps forward giving away his umbrella.
“Instead of freaking out and laying the blame every which way…why don’t we take a moment and hear these folks out? The boy’s not asking to kick up his feet and stay here forever, right?!” He holds his hands out, “But supplies and good help are hard to find out there these days…so if the boy needs a break before the world grinds him down to nothing, this place is his last best bet! That’s the long and short of it, right heroes?!” He says turning to look at Principal Nezu who nods.
“Why not Shiketsu then? If they’ve got the same setup?!” “Except they’d probably react the same way over there…”
“To be frank until our world went to hell…I never really realized it myself. How I was like a spectator and heroes were performers on a stage. Once upon a time, the unmatched All Might showed us all how to be a hero. He was the act to follow, and everybody cheered him on! But along the way…people forgot about the heart and soul that made the man. The stage is gone now. The theater’s knocked down. With failure after failure heroes can’t be hoping for glory and riches at this point. So many of those folks we once called heroes have hung up their capes. Think about it. Those ones who’re still left, still fighting…whaddya think they’re fighting for? If we reject the ones still standing up for what’s right…what do we even got left? How’ll there be any chance in hell of going back to our old lives?! Sure, we’re all hurting here, but let’s stop and use our heads! How long…can we be spectators on the sidelines?!”
“Th…there are rumors of a guy…with multiple quirks dressed in rags. They say he’s either an agent of the villains or maybe a true hero. So tell us. Sat you get to rest here for now…will we get to go back to our old lives eventually?” A man speaks up fear clear on his face and desperation.
“Everyone is in this together with me so,” Midoriya looks at everyone determination clear on his face, “Yes. We’ll bring it all back.”
The door to the barrier opens and Ectoplasm steps out to Hawks, Endeavor, and Todoroki. “Did you happen to hear…Uravity’s speech? Come in and see for yourselves. All is well. At least for the time being.” The three enter seeing the aftermath of the speech.
“In the end, all we did…was cause more pain for Deku. No real progress…just a roundabout way of getting to this point.” Endeavor says a hat and jacket covering his hero costume.
“No progress?” Hawks says, “I disagree. We’re seeing it here. One For All…is a network of power that links people’s hearts. It tied All Might to Midoriya. Then class A kept Midoriya in the game. And Uravity linked these people to Midoriya. If everyone…if ALL of us are even a little bit capable of seeing each other as united as ONE, then... I see a future where heroes have time to kill. One so bright we can’t help but grin.” Looking forward to Midoriya being welcomed back into U.A. civilians covering them with umbrellas giving their thanks.
Standing in Cementoss’ hand Nezu holds a device in his hand, “This was beyond my power…but..your class achieved it. Aizawa.”
Resting in a hospital room Aizawa smiles, “Be sure to tell my class president ‘Job well done’ for me.”
The rain is heavy on you all and you and Mirio draw closer Eri tugs on Midoriya’s free hand and he looks down but she points forward and he sees Mirio who gives a small smile going over to Eri before he meets your eyes. Your eyes were tired dark circles under your eyes as you look at him a small smile quirked on your face and you could feel the piece of paper resting in your pocket burning hot. He goes to pull away from his classmates and mother but you shake your head.
‘Not now…later.’ You mouthed and he hesitates before letting himself get pulled away as you stay behind in the rain the water covers your face hiding the tears that track down your face. You don’t know who the hell to thank…but thank you for bringing him back to you.
Izuku Midoriya was home.

I only watched the movie once, so maybe my mind twisted the things that happened in it, so if I am wrong about any of these, people will probably proove me wrong anyway, which is fine, I'd appreaciate that, because getting a new/clearer perspective is always nice.
First: One of the things I liked about the original series that it didn't want me to feel sorry for the characters, (it just showed the situation and the audience could judge it themselves,) but I did anyway, however I felt like the film wanted me to feel sad for Dib and take his side? I don't like when the source material tries to spoon-feed me what to feel about the character, whether it's positive or negative.
Besides Membrane's "I am proud of you" feeling rushed, it is only me or Gaz standing up for Clembrane has something odd about it? I cannot put my finger on what it is really. It feels like to me it is supposed to be a cute moment, but similarly to the "proud of you" I think it needed more development? Maybe I am just underestimating Gaz's niceness...
And the "I only hurt you when/because I know you can handle it" or something like that leaved a bad taste in my mouth, I know it's probably supposed to be the: "Aww, cute sibling moment! Gaz knows Dib's limits! And she wouldn't let her brother seriously hurt!" but it feels it's there to make Gaz look better and have an emotional moment. The only explanation I can come up with is that Gaz doesn't recognize the severe consequences of her actions to her brother's mental health, which with the father they have I am not suprised about.
+This one is just a personal preference, but I thought Tak's ship's attitude in the comics was funnier about hating Dib and Zim than in the movie. In the movie they convince her to help in a kinda cliché way? I mean it's not bad, and it doesn't feel out of character, and I know they needed it for the plot, but it feels kinda underwhelming to me considering how the show (and a lot of the comics) goes against the clichés without feeling "just for the sake of it" and it makes logical sense, like in the issue where Dib outs Zim to the pants "he'll just betray you" and you'd think the pants join him, and later become friends/allies because that's how it is in other media, but they are like "Thank you for telling us, we defeat him and when he is out of the way, the planet is ours". They literally just used the information for their own advantage without feeling guilty about it and it's so refreshing! I wish they didn't cut out the ship going rescuing Tak, because it would have made the relatively easy co-operation make more sense. (Although maybe the ship just listens to Gaz better than to Dib) But probably time/budget issues came up.
Also it's probably gonna sound contradictory because of what I said prior, but I felt like at some point the writers tried to make us stop caring about Zim in the comics and they kinda successeeded in that for me, because I just started to find him so annoying and tiring and idiotic that I wouldn't have cared if he would have just got written out of them. Why is it so common when a villain goes down in a huge self-destructive path, they become the most boring, pathetic characters in the story? If you want them to get worse than they already are why not have them go completely apeshit? A more competent, vile douchebag, who doesn't let anyone to get in their way? Why not show their true potential? It seemed like it was something like that where it was going first, Dib getting a hero arc, Zim becoming a better bad guy, but it was dropped? (Yeah, Zim didn't like his future self, but come on...) Maybe the problem is me not appreaciating that, because this isn't illogical, people can stop caring and become aimless/self-sabotaging, but I am kinda tired of them being treated like a joke, while we're supposed to take the opposing team seriously. And they didn't really did anything with the changed dynamic? I mean beetween the two main ones, since at least they continued the Membrane family plotline...
That makes it sound like I hate the movie, but I am not. I am more mixed about it if anything. I could talk about in a similar amount what I liked about, but for this I just focused on the aspects I found negative. And for the comics: I like most of them actually, don't let me fool you with me focusing on mostly what I don't like.
Again: Disagreements or other arguments are also great. This is not meant to insult people who enjoy those aspects, these just didn't work for me.
hoo boy * rubs my hands together * under read more for length!

YES exactly. i couldnt put it into words before but yes, this is it. the series you just kind of...incidentally feel bad for the characters because theyre so pathetic and self destructive. its not something they WANT you to do, it just kind of happens naturally. the movie tries HARD to make you feel bad for dib and side with him and feel satisfied that his family was "fixed". and it did the opposite for me at least LOL
on gaz, yeah, it was funnier when she was just fucked up and horrible. she kind of sort of cares about dib, but shes also similarly affected by her fathers neglect and dibs shunning from society. she has a reason to act out and be horrible and it just made more sense character wise. in the movie it feels like thats missing, because now membrane is a better dad and dib is "growing" or something and idk! cheapens her overall.
Tumblr media
i hadnt put much thought into it before but yeah ur right, probably just needed to move the plot along somehow unfortunately because they declawed zim and dib and usually they play off each other enough to progress plots loll. theres been a reliance on taks ship to me that i dont understand considering shes like barely present in the show but u know...sci fi stuff
for zim: yes. absolutely yes TO ME it seems like the writers now mostly related to dib which...find me an iz fan that doesnt. but they simultaneously dont have any appreciation for zim, and treat him more as only a thorn in dibs side than his only salvation in the face of a world that doesnt give a rats ass about him. zim is an obstacle to dibs happiness, or a tool to get it,and not his happiness in and of itself.
i feel this happens a lot as series are getting revivals especially when the series are decades old, opinions shift and even sometimes new writers who were previous fans may have skewed opinions because of fan content they participated in. sometimes this can be great, sometimes...eh.
and its no secret jhonen has grown so tired of iz and i truly do not blame him. and in an age of revivals and reboots...it only worsens creators attitudes towards franchises that have had their runs but companies want to milk more out of it (see craig mccracken and the ppg, for example)
i dont want people to think i hate florpus (or the comics) either because i really, truly dont! like i said, its a good movie on its own and id watch it again. my only gripes is how disconnected it is from the og material, and how that contributes to discourse amongst fans and interpreting the characters.
to me etf is like..an alternate timeline almost. it doesnt feel like a continuation, it feels like something else entirely different. im glad it brings in traffic, im glad people like it and discover the series and decades of fan love and appreciation even if they like etf more. i just have complex opinions abut it ig, and why it feels like invader zim lite instead of invader zim. invader zim as a series was so distinct from everything else and it still is, and etf just doesnt have that same spark to me!

I don't get the people that say Toyo has a bias for Vegeta. The man literally showcased a new form only to get clowned on by Granola, Gaz and Frieza. I'm a Vegeta fan, and one of the people who agrees that Goku should be the one to finish off the main villains since he's the MC. I would much rather Vegeta get sidelined than to see him get hyped up and fail miserably.
...are we reading the same series? Vegeta will supposedly be hurt or drained to the point he can barely stand yet still manage to kick away a powered-up Goku, or dive back into a fight and rescue Goku while he backs away in fear from multiple Fused Zamasus, or makes his "Evolved" form on par with UI Sign, or go to Yardrat and learn many, many more techniques in like a week than Goku managed to learn in an entire year, or put up a better fight vs Granolah in a weaker form, and then somehow completely outclass Goku's fighting prowess when he learns a new one. He's written to be the only intelligent one of the two nine times out of ten, with Goku's ignorance played WAY up for giggles to the point that he literally doesn't even know where babies come from, Bulma has been changed from an independent woman keeping Vegeta on a leash to a doting, crying wife who gets so scared for him every time he leaves, he's inexplicably some super nice dude that everyone likes now... Toyotaro loves Vegeta, fam, and wanks him a lot. As for who's getting sidelined... Krillin is sidelined. Tien is sidelined. (Literally, in their case. Toyotaro didn't know what to do with them so he just instantly tossed them aside in the ToP and kept their involvement short in the next arc too.) Piccolo is sidelined. Gohan, Goten and Trunks, the Androids, they're sidelined. Vegeta's right there in the thick of it, with people worshiping his every accomplishment while everyone else is getting CRUMBS in that manga most of the time. That's why people say Toyotaro favors Vegeta. Because he always paints him more favorably than anyone else.

Here, a crumb for what I'm working on involving Gaz angst and his villain arc
Inspired/a continuation of this post about Soap's death having been faked.
First things first, not sure if this is going to be more than what I'll put below and the big argument where it's clear Gaz has snapped. So, don't expect too much more of this for the time being, unless I get inspired.
Anyways, here's the first half :)
*if anyone wants tagged for future posts about this let me know and I'll add you* @stuffireadandenjoy
Loyal.
Faithful.
Dedicated.
Loyal to hell not heaven.
Faithful to a lie.
Dedicated to traitors.
Abandoned.
Abandoned and left to fend for himself.
Handed to the vultures like a peace offering.
All in a moment. All in a single bullet fired from its steel chamber. All in a single crash of a body to the ground. All in a split second too fast to register.
They had gotten a pulse, weak but just enough.
Then he was ripped from their hands. Taken by white gloves promising to save him, angelic creatures marked by red. Taken into a sterile void where he would die.
And they lied.
They couldn’t save him.
They didn’t save him. They let him die on that table, nothing more than a casualty. A statistic against their fight to prevent the war to end all wars.
And they lied.
A dark, dirty room where she told them the news. A dark, dirty room the last place he felt a comforting hand on his shoulder.
A dark, dirty room where they left him. A dark, dirty room where he was left with nothing but the blood on his hands, left alone to grieve.
Do better.
The captains and majors all hiss.
You have a job to do, Sergeant.
The colonels and generals all snap.
How did you ever make sergeant acting like this?
They all sneered as they rubbed his face in the dirt.
He’s gone, move on already.
And they lied.
“I’ve got your six.”
But now where are you? I turn and see the armies of hell behind me and not you. You left me in that room, left me as I began to grieve. And for what? To make a mistake and disappear into fuck knows where? You led me down this path, now you shall see this for what it truly is.
“Tell me where, and I’ll be there.”
But you were the first to leave. You gave us the news and vanished. You didn’t even stay to watch us break. You acted like a coward, all for what? To cover a lie you knew we would figure out if you stayed any longer? To hide the evidence of your monumental cover-up?
“I’m with you. To the end.”
The end did not come with his fall. You never said a word to me that day. You just dragged your sorry, selfish ass out of that room and vanished. Too consumed with your own broken heart to consider how shattered mine would be. It disgusts me, how truly fitting your name is.
All left me alone because he was dead.
Because he had died.
He was dead.
He was…
He’s not dead.
Not anymore.
Because they lied.

Note
That recent post you reblogged really sheds some light on what's happened to modern media/fandoms. Their argument, to paraphrase, is "media only writes kind women because they don't want to alienate men. I can't imagine the idea that some people actually want kindness rewarded and cruelty punished on principle, because I personally like mean and cruel people, so I think creators/other fans should worship them as well!" No wonder the ML fandom worships Chloe if morality is based only on "I like."
Is this about this post, anon? Because if it is I just don’t see your point.
The post was about how women tend to be stuck in a box where they have to be non-threatening as possible to the male audience and they end up falling flat because they don’t really have any flaws (or they aren’t well addressed at all). OP wasn’t saying that we should be apologists or anything, just that women should be better written (and, as someone who watches shounen, I agree). Women aren’t allowed to be mean or bitchy because they wouldn’t be a fan favorite. Can you imagine a girl with a personality and background like Bakugou’s in bnha being number one on popularity polls? I’m struggling to. It doesn’t have anything to do with the narrative rewarding cruelty for female characters.
The post was about shounen (and honestly, the only heroine that’s not constantly sexualized and is kinda bitchy and bossy and rude while maintaining their popularity that I can think of is Rukia, my beloved, from Bleach), but since I’m lowkey a ML blog, I’m gonna talk about cartoon exemples:
Helga Pataki from Hey Arnold is a staple for mean, rude, bitchy girls. She’s sympathetic and we understand her, even more after the “Helga on The Couch” episodes, but the narrative rarely excuses her actions. When she popularized a newspaper with fake news? She was punished for it. When she told Arnold off for helping the gang with their problems? She was punished for it. When she stole Arnold’s hat for her weird shrine? She was punished for it. The characters, while tolerating her meanness, don’t shy away from taking revenge when they can or dismissing Helga’s (sometimes) good advice for her attitude. She’s a flawed and deep character and the fans adore her because she’s well-written and compelling.
Gaz from Invader Zim isn’t as much of a main character in her show as Helga is in hers, but god, is she a fan favorite. She is mean and stoic and a bit sadistic and none of that detracts from her character. Sure, she’s from Invader Zim from all shows, being unusually mean is a given, but I do appreciate how for all the characters to soften up the grim dark atmosphere of the show (and still fitting very well in it), they didn’t go with making the girl a sweet character, they went with Gir, the robot dog. Even in Florpus, where her character is a little nicer, she’s still very mean and I like it! Sure, she’s never punished for being mean, but who actually is in Invader Zim? No double standards here, at least. (Also, Game Slave 2 slaps, one of the best episodes from the show).
Even Chloé herself! I like that she’s mean and spoiled and annoying, I like her arc in the show and her relationship with other people. The only thing I don’t like is people acting like she’s way less mean than she is or that her actions were not as serious as they were. Nobody cares if you like a mean character, just own it up and when people say “oh, but they are-” just answer with a “I know that, I don’t think they’re right, I just like the character”. I like Lila as a character too and you don’t see me going around defending her actions.
I can even apply the part of the post where they talk about the hype around characters with zero personality to the ML fandom while setting the girls aside. You-know-who barely has any well developed personality before season 4 and is praised for being a great character and superior love interest. Kagami, meanwhile, gets bashed for breathing. I do think that part of it relates to what I was talking about in the above: Kagami isn’t “bitchy” nor “mean”, but she’s blunt and her personality isn’t as accommodating as, say, Rose or Marinette. She’s a bit stoic and has a hard time connecting with people and comes off as rude at times, but is overall a wonderful girl and people still bash her for things like “Frozer” and “Oni-chan” (even though she was akumatized) and, more recently, “Lies”. Ask me if Luka got half that flack for “Wishmaker”.
(Plus, there were a lot of Félix apologists around even though he tried to assault our protagonist but it’s fine because “Chat Noir does it all the time” (?????) and “Félix is not that bad, he’s suffering too.” I’m not joking, the lengths people will go for white male characters while villainizing girls of color, like Alya and Kagami, still astounds me.)
So yeah, anon, I think you got the post’s message a little mixed up.

Stormlight Archive Themes - Complexity in Words of Radiance
This is a third post on the core themes of each book in The Stormlight Archive (I’m working backward from Rhythm of War).
I’ve had difficulty putting a precise name to the concept at the heart of Words of Radiance, but I think ‘complexity’ is the closest I can get. The heroes and villains of The Way of Kings are comparatively straightforward; Words of Radiance introduces more complexity both in the morality of the different characters and in the ways they interact with each other. This can be summed up in two main ideas. First, that morality is a trajectory, not a fixed point - good people can become worse, bad people can become better. Secondly, that our perception of another person’s morality or character is dependent on our perspective and can involve assumptions that are deeply erroneous.
The idea that someone’s morality is a trajectory, that it is more complex than the sum of their past actions, is illustrated by the arcs of numerous characters, among them Kaladin, Bluth, Gaz and the other deserters, and Elhokar. Kaladin, at the end of The Way of Kings, is a morally exceptional character who consistently takes on great burdens and risks to save and protect others. His is deeply admired by many of those around him (especially Bridge 4 and Dalinar) and is surrounded by some very strong messianic symbolism. In the perceptions of others (though not his own) he is an iconic hero. But in most of Words of Radiance, his moral arc is downwards - he’s hostile, abrasive, and judgemental; he joins in the plot to kill Elhokar, which results in his killing Syl, and only changes his mind at the last minute. In the concept of journey before destination, this is the counterpart of Dalinar’s realization in Oathbringer (it can’t be a journey if it doesn’t have a beginning): the journey also doesn’t have an end. Goodness is a constant effort, not a point that you can reach and then stop.
The flip side of this is the arcs of characters like Bluth, Gaz, and Elhokar. Bluth is a brutal slaver; we saw him at the start of TWOK when Kaladin was a slave. He’s not a good person. But in one interaction with Shallan, he shows glimmers of wanting to be better and thinking it isn’t possible; Shallan encourages this spark, and he dies doing a good thing. Gaz is likewise an abusive, contemptible person, but he is also drawn to the possibility of being something better when Shallan holds it out, and sets out on the path that leads to him becoming Knight Radiant. There is no point where someone is too far gone to turn around and choose to do good. Likewise with Elhokar, who was an immature brat and a poor ruler through TWOK and most of WOR; near the end of the book he recognizes that he’s not a good king, that he wants to be a better king, and shows genuine humility in going to Kaladin, asking for advice, accepting Kaladin’s judgement that he’s a bad king, and apologizing for having Kaladin imprisoned. And this trajectory is at least a part - for me, a big part - of what makes the arc around Kaladin and Elhokar work. It’s not justifiable to assassinate someone who is genuinely trying to improve and to do good, even if they’re not very good at it.
The second point, around perception, mainly involves two storylines. First, we have Kaladin, Shallan, and Adolin - from the start, Kaladin has an ill opinion of the other two, and they of him; all of them are to varying degrees suspicious, provoking, and unpleasant towards each other. (Not the case with the Shallan-Adolin relationship; they get along great with each other.) Kaladin thinks both of them are, essentially, spoiled brats without experience of hardship. Shallan and Adolin find Kaladin surly and abrasive. All of them are wrong (though the degrees of wrongness may be disputed, and I think Kaladin is less in the wrong, and the other two are more so, than the book’s narration does). Kaladin risks his life to protect both Adolin (in the duel) and Shallan (in the chasms), and has a long list of good reasons to be suspicious of lighteyes because they have power over him by theur mere existence and he’s frequently experienced the abuse of that power. Shallan and Adolin both have more depth of character and experience than Kaladin initially gives them credit for. Kaladin learns that Shallan has been through horrific trauma without allowing it to embitter her. Adolin locks himself up in solidarity with Kaladin, and - unlike Dalinar - believes him about Amaram without needing physical proof.
The second storyline around perception is Eshonai’s. In TWOK, the Parshendi were just the enemies. In WOR, we have the chance to see them from their own perspective. From the perspective of the Alethi, the final climax with the Everstorm is a fight against horrifying incomprehesile monsters out of legend. But for the Listeners it is a dreadful tragedy, where they are pushed to the brink by the Alethi and end up losing their freedom and seeing the destruction of their people from a desperate last attempt to keep the Alethi from exterminating them. The question of who the heroes and who the villains are becomes blurred; the great battle is more a tragic, needless conflict than it is an epic of good against evil.
Words of Radiance is, at its core, about recognizing the complexity of others, both in the understanding of the limits of our perspectives, and allowing for everyone’s capacity for change. When characters do this successfully, new friendships form, between Kaladin, Shallan, and Adolin; when they fail to do so, as with the Alethi and the Listeners, tragedy ensues.

I have some thoughts about Invader Zim #49. That is all.
I really love this arc and how it was handled. I loved who #1 turned out to be, and I’ve come to appreciate what specific thing the issue revealed about our Zim. This is the non-spoilery summary for those of y’all who haven’t read it yet.
now, for my long as heck explanation....
I keep seeing ppl being upset about issue 49 but I can't see it??? I honestly really loved this finale and how the arc was handled. Zib is the best villain to come out of these issues in my opinion, and the payoff was amazing.
All this time I had the assumption that #1 would be a dangerously competent Zim, or a Dib, but NEVER did I imagine it'd be both. Zib is like... this perfectly awful fusion of Zim and Dib's worst traits.
Tumblr media
Logan wastes no time in drawing out Zib’s deeper motivations and fears. Zib has Dib’s need for support, his desperation for others to see and perceive the truth. He wanted everyone to acknowledge what he did was right and good and NO ONE, not even his father or Gaz cared. The way he nonchalantly stated that he killed everyone just showed how broken he became. He has Zim’s manipulative skills, Zim’s need to be successful, complete denial of himself to preserve the illusion of his superiority.  Of course, with their minds combined, Zib HATES himself.
Tumblr media
he cannot accept that he is half of who he hates more than anything. He has such a deep anxiety from the weight of his actions and who he’s become that he’s left with no choice but to cling to what he still believes in- that he is the TRUE Dib. But he couldn’t be further from the truth. I mean, he accuses our Dib of being “another useless human” who doesn’t appreciate what he does.
Tumblr media
Now when has a Dib ever objectified another human like that???
It’s so fitting that Zib went out of his way to create the Zimverse- he relies on structures, allies, beliefs, and supports outside himself for guidance to survive. If suitable structures do not exist, he will create and maintain them. He’s a true 6w5 on the enneagram (I promise I’ll explain that jumble of words I keep mentioning. But for now, trust me when I say I’m not surprised that a Dib at his lowest would do something like this).
So about our Zim’s side of the arc…At first I was a lil upset that what made him different was so anticlimactic. Seriously? accidentally eating  packing peanut? Our Zim is so much more than that, isn’t he?
Then I realized that it was actually fitting for the plot- our Zim needed to be the one that destroys the Zimverse out of jealousy, becoming vindictive and of course, resetting the comic’s status quo… but what would offset that? lemme rephrase that- what would make Zim retaliate against other versions of himself?
If Zim’s defining trait tapped into his greatest fear.
And it’s not just eating a package peanut, it’s the significance (or lack thereof) of eating it. Zim is unique because he slipped up in a private, domestic, unexciting environment.
Imagine being told that what makes you unique was the equivalent to tripping on your own foot in public. It would make you feel worthless.
And being worthless is Zim’s deepest, darkest fear.
Zim is highly image-conscious, and he’s arguably good at twisting events in his favor (“you made [the fires] worse!” “Worse… or better?”), he so desperately wants to be accomplished, so it would only stroke his ego if what made him unique was some catastrophe he caused or if he did something deliberate like wanting to watch two episodes of a show instead of one. These are things he could justify, but slipping up in an insignificant way? There’s no way he could hype it up. Sure, he tried to defend himself by saying he enjoyed eating it, but he drops that line of thought quickly because it doesn’t matter. He doesn’t matter in the eyes of his peers (himselves? oof, that makes it worse).
That’s why our Zim breaks down, because there’s no way he can rationalize it.
Tumblr media
He is Zim, he must be amazing! and yet he saw with his own eyes that an insignificant accident makes him stand out.
Tumblr media
He can’t come to terms that he is nothing compared to other Zims, because it would lead to the conclusion that his lifetime of performance amounts to nothing in the grand scheme of things, and this is something Zim has been fighting against his whole life.
But our Dib comes in the nick of time to once again, give Zim an escape from his own mind and indirectly motivate him. Our Dib gives Zim someone-something- to pit all the blame against. And in his Zimness, our Zim sabotages his other selves- especially Zib-to destroy this system, this zimverse, that in Zim’s eyes, merely exists to remind him of his own shortcomings.

Invader Zim Deathmatch:
ROUND 4, FIGHT 2:
MS BITTERS VS ZIB!
[Masterpost]
Information about both contestants (who they are, powers and abilities, etc) can be found under the cut.
Contestant Stats:
Ms Bitters:
“Not originally from Invader Zim”
Appearances:
Ms Bitters appears in many different episodes, to the point where I won’t list them all
Powers and abilities:
Shadowmancy (Ms Bitters has shown to be able to move through and materialize from shadows)
Shapeshifting/Extreme Flexibility (Ms Bitters has been shown to move and bend in unnatural ways, twisting around and moving almost like a snake. Whether this is due to shapeshifting or Ms Bitters simply being incredibly flexible is unknown)
Fear (Ms Bitters terrifies just about everyone she interacts with, so the physiological effects of this in combat should definitely be taken into consideration)
[Possible] Bug communication? (If skoolchildren theories are to be believed, Ms Bitters may be able to communicate with bugs, being one herself. However, this is only a theory, no matter how much evidence there may be to support it, so take this power with a grain of salt)
[Weakness] Sunlight (Ms Bitters needs to wear a hooded cloak whenever she’s outside, and it’s heavily implied that she’ll burn up and possibly even die if exposed to direct sunlight)
Fun Fact:
Before Invader Zim was made, Ms Bitters appeared in the Squee! Comics also made by Jhonen Vasquez.
Ms Bitters is also shown to play favourites with her students, seemingly treating Zita the best out of all her students and treating Dib the worst.
Zib:
