"Lord Tyr"
I absolutely love this game! Although I didn't finish it myself yet, I watched the whole playthrough in two days and can't get enough.
I really like Tyr as a character (both of his incarnations), and was relieved to see him in the endgame alive and well.

OH OH WHAT ABOUT THIS ATREBODA AU I JUST CAME UP WITH because i'm currently listening to both delightful and brooding classical music. these strings are making me feel things. (bars 🔥)
victorian era england, a son of a working class man (kratos is either a blacksmith in this or does manual labor), walking in a park with his two dogs (speki and svanna! <3). he is there with his sketch book, the park is where he can find inspiration & draw in peace. suddenly he comes across a shiny pearl necklace. someone has lost this, but who could it be? he looks around and sees a young lady, a worried expression etched on her face. she is pretty, has her hair tied up, a fan in her hand, wearing a beautiful gown with bows and, by jove, pearl accessories! that must be hers!
or so atreus thinks. he has never talked to anyone of the aristocracy before, let alone be in the presence of them! but he works up the courage to ask her about the necklace in his hand. it's now or never. "e-excuse me, my lady... is this yours by any chance?"
she looks up, relief washing over her. "yes, it is! oh thank you so much for finding it! i thought i was done for..." it's a prized posession, the set angrboda has on is her mother's. she would have been heartbroken if she had truly lost it, but thnkfully there's a hero around. a lanky and akward hero, but that's not important. she then asks him to help her put the necklace on, which atreus does with shaky hands and shallow breathing (he tried desperately to hide his nervousness. but it worked!).
angrboda notices the sketchbook atreus has. she reveals that she loves to draw as well, she does it often in her free time! atreus feels happy to have find someone who shares the same interests as him, and they both sit on the bench. they talked to each other for a long time, quite animatedly too.
there's no evil stepmother in this story. there is, however, a bitter and misguided grandmother. gryla wonders where the girl has gone off to now. it is time for her singing lessons and preparations for the banquet. but she spots angrboda talking to a mere lower class boy. what is this girl doing? speaking/associating with the common folk? why is she adamant in becoming a laughing stock, like her mother was? her mother's union to her father shook the aristocratic world. it was only a miracle that gryla has gotten a second chance with angrboda. there is no way she will let her tarnish the family name. gryla must set up suitors for her, dukes, earls, barons, whoever it must be! all so she can forget all about that boy and not ruin her chance (even though she's in the wrong. very much so.)
DUN DUN DUUUUNN. TO BE CONTINUED. MAYBE.
PLEASE. ONTINEU THIS ANAON WDYDUUJHHHHGGGGG

Did... did you not like play the God of War games, bother with reading anything of the lore and miss the whole part of Kratos' growth over time or are you just mad that it made you feel things that made you wonder how much introspection you'd have to do after a playthrough.
what are you even yapping about, anon?
is it about how "god of hope" is a cringe title to give Kratos?
because my entire point about it being cringe is that i felt like it could be cooler if it decided to be more faithful to the actual hellenistic version of what God of War represents.
i felt like Kratos really started to represent what Ares/Mars (though if you want to be pedantic about it - Mars specifically) is (you know, MASCULINITY), and i felt like it could be rad if we really came back to the very beginning and went "hell yeah God of War is a badass title that doesn't have to mean just violence and bloodshed". the mental war n all that.
ik Ares in GoW isn't nearly as cool, but this entire series is just a goofy mythology fanfic, so why not do something this fun?
trust me i think people calling norse era cringe and gay are morons too. in fact im the kind who cries thinking about norse era lore because it hits too close to home.
i just feel like you missed the point i was making, anon
put me in the "types an actual counterargument" bin babyyyy

Hi! I was wondering if you could write something about fem reader being from another dimension with Buddha, Qin Shi Huang, Nikola, Hades and Raiden (all separate if that's okay), reader can basically travel throughout dimensions and universes and often times take pictures of the place and being back things they got from the dimension (I can just imagine Nikola begging reader to take him with her 😭)
-You were a dimension hopper, going from different dimensions and worlds. You did it for fun, after discovering this new but odd power of yours, and you had no issues running around, hopping from one to the other.
-There were some dimensions you visited often, ones that you enjoyed going to, and then there were some you only visited once, putting them on your ‘do not visit again’ list.
-You collected souvenirs, usually pictures, but knickknacks and things like that were common as well, as a memento of the different worlds you visited, and you had those decorating your room.
-You opened a new portal, which looked like a giant zipper in space and you stepped through, finding yourself in a large room with five men who were all staring at you with wide eyes, wanting to know where you came from.
-You just beamed brightly at them, “Hiya! I’m Y/N and I’m a dimension hopper! Nice to meet you!” instantly you were almost plowed down by Nikola who had you in his arms, his eyes huge and wide, looking almost manic as they were bloodshot as he began to rapid fire questions at you, wanting to know EVERYTHING!!
-You couldn’t help but grin as Buddha came over, pulling Nikola off of you so you could stand up and you were invited to join them, as they were curious on your ability.
-You were in shock to find yourself in Valhalla, and they were all either gods or humans from history and you couldn’t help but beam, “This is so cool! This Valhalla is so much brighter looking!!”
-Hades paused at your words, “This Valhalla?” you nodded, pulling out your camera and you quickly scrolled through the photos before coming to the photo, showing them a wasteland, like it had been attacked, burning and smoldering, with no life, “I cam across that one about a month ago, apparently something called Ragnarok happened, and it destroyed everything.”
-They all flinched, hearing about Ragnarok, worried about if that’s what would have happened if the tournament hadn’t been called off, and those who perished were brought back to life.
-You were amazed to learn this information, that Ragnarok almost happened in this dimension as well, but you were happy that it didn’t, as this seemed like a cool place.
-You spent the day with your new friends, putting this dimension on the list to revisit, as you liked the people you’ve met, finding them not only interesting but enjoyable to be around.
-They loved seeing your photos of the different dimensions you visits, throughout different times and eras, showing Raiden what Japan in the year 2050 looks like, something out of a sci-fi movie, you showed Qin Shi Huang ancient China if he didn’t become the emperor, which pissed him off as he saw so many people suffering.
-It was so unique to see different worlds if certain things didn’t happen, or if certain people didn’t exist. It was amazing to see what one missing person could do for a whole dimension.
-When you got ready to leave, promising to be back, Raiden and Buddha had to help get you free from Nikola, who was on his knees, begging you to take him with you, arms around your hips, not letting you leave.
-You promised to take him one day, once you could find out if it was safe to do so, as you didn’t want to risk your new friends and you unzipped reality again, stepping through and flashed them a smile as you zipped it up, disappearing again.

There is the Toymaker, the god of games
There is Trickster, the god of traps
There is Maestro, the god of music
There is Reprobate, the god of spite
There is the Mara, the god of beasts
And the threefold deity of malice and mischief and misery
There are gods of skin and shame and secrets
There is Incensor, the god of disaster and her children called Doubt and Dread
And standing on high is the Mother and Father and Other of them all
For the god of all gods has returned and his names are many
So seem like RTD is planning to work many of Doctor Who's godlike beings into a single pantheon. We've already met the Toymaker, the Trickster, Maestro, Mara, Sutekh and possible the Threefold Deity if that is the Gods of Ragnarok. That leaves Reprobate, Incensor and the gods of skin and shame and secrets. Possibly RTD isn't planning to introduce all of these, he loves to namedrop things like Nightmare Child and leave the rest to our imagination, but these does seem to be the era for supernatural antagonists.

Hi! Sorry for bothering you. But I'm writing my own fanfiction of housamo, the whole game in fact, but I'm having complications on understanding the reasons why most of the exiles were banished according to their worlds rules... I'm not very smart and wiki information is incomplete or too difficult to get... could you please help me by sharing a simple explanation....?
No bother. I don't get some of the lore stuff in housamo either, so don't feel dumb about it.
So the general reason they were exiled is because the rebelled against the worlds' system in some way and had to be removed to protect their systems. Not all of the exiles' rules and backstories have been revealed yet, so I'm not sure about all of them currently.
-Takamagahara's system tosses away anything undesirable and works with Amaterasu exposing everyone's sins with her light and reflecting their shame back at them to keep them in line. Susanoo felt zero shame and therefore couldn't be controlled that way, so he was eventually sent away due to his behavior.
-The World of the Old Ones exists within Azathoth's dream, so invading one's dream without consent is considered very taboo and is forbidden. Cthulhu's ability allowed him to invade other's dreams whenever, which of course violated that big rule.
-Hourai's system runs on the belief of letting nature run it's course and not interfering, but Nüwa would constantly interfere by causing and trying to prevent wars and disasters.
-The Oceanic Realm's system is the belief that in the end everything and everyone will sink to the bottom of the ocean for eternity. From what little we learned from Gurangatch, the Rainbow Serpent would rise from the depths again and again, so while everything else would sink forever, they wouldn't.
-Great Spirit's system is the belief in unity with everyone being one with Wakan Tanka. Heyoka's eccentric behavior caused him to become a social pariah and an outcast, separating him from Wakan Tanka and the rest of Great Spirit, so he was exiled.
-Olympus' system relies heavily on everyone's connection to the world representative, Zeus, most importantly the familial and sexual bonds. Eurynome's rule allowed her to rend bloodlines and anything that stemmed from said bloodline such as curses, so the Olympians would've been screwed with most of them, especially the key players, being related to Zeus in some way. Also, Eurynome's relationship with Zeus isn't known yet, so there could've been more there. Another thought I've seen is that Eurynome might've rejected Zeus, which is unheard of with the way his power works, on top of the bloodline thing.
-Varuna-Kamadeva and Asura were essentially exiled for the opposite reasons. Shangri La's system is the belief that one should let go of all of their attachments to achieve enlightenment. A situation happened where one of Smokey God's other friends did something to Asura's daughter and he became enraged and attacked them. Unable to let go of his anger and wanting to continue fighting, he was exiled. Either Asura himself or a part of himself that he cut off went to Deva Loka and became known as Varuna.
I can't remember the exact way Deva Loka functions, but Varuna was the omnipotent world representative who would gift parts of his power to others. He would continue doing this until he was left with nothing but love and desire and became known as Varuna-Kamadeva. That's when the others decided that he wasn't fit to be world representative anymore and wanted him to relinquish that role to Shiva by making him fall for Parvati. And obviously Shiva blasted him once Varuna shot him with an arrow, exiling him. So since he became unworthy of the role of world representative once he lost his attachments, I guess the belief focuses on holding onto one's attachments.
-Yggdrasil holds the belief that the world will eventually experience Ragnarok and the era of gods will end, making way for the era of humanity. This of course never happened since Loki confined Yggdrasil within a wall that causes the world to loop post Ragnarok the same way Tokyo's wall functions. It's a world of those destined to fall, but Freyr couldn't be defeated as long as he had the power to rend through defeat, so he had to go. There's also just the fact that Freyr seemed to be opposed to meaningless sacrifice like what the gods intended to do for humanity.
-Kitezh's system is belief of diffusion, so pretty much just combining and spreading into other sources to achieve power. Maybe it's more parasitic or infectious in nature. Like if they were to be attacked by invaders, Perun could mix himself into their memories to mess with and dominate them for example. Perun lived heavily by this belief, but the ultimate goal of diffusion is complete assimilation, to be combined everyone, so you're no longer identifiable to one location. He attempted to do this by removing all documented traces of himself, but the problem was Veles existed. Veles' rules, his words, allowed him to separate and isolate things, so he was potentially able to untangle everything achieved through diffusion. Ofc Perun wasn't the one who wanted him to go, but he still violated the belief of the world.
Those are the ones I could think of rn, some of them haven't been revealed clearly or I'm just blanking rn.

King - Chapter I
Chapter 1
Wordcount 3,4k
Title The Abyss
Fandom Shuumatsu no Valkyrie / Record of Ragnarok
Pairing Poseidon x reader
Symbols ⭕ . ➕ . 🖤
Warnings: Arranged marriage, one mention of suicide (only in this chapter), mentions of prejudice (from non humans against reader), mentions of entering an oceanic abyss / oceanic darkness / sea creatures (might trigger thalassophobia), mentions and references to liminal spaces (might trigger claustrophobia)
Tagging ? (If you want to be tagged in any of my stories, just leave a comment on this chapter or send an ask or a message)
N. A.: This is a story that has been in my drafts for so long and, after leaving it aside because of the other projects, I finally managed to post the first chapter! I'm so happy with it! It's been an incredible experience to work on it even when it's just beginning, because I can already see it as a complete story. I'm taking the opportunity to discuss complex, sometimes dark themes through it that I haven't included in my latest works, so as I've done before, any necessary warnings will be present in the notes. Also this is my first time writing for Poseidon, so wish me luck XD

“The very thing you're best at is the thing that hurts the most”
(Florence and the Machine, King)
Remember, child, you are a girl, and that will determine how you will be seen for the rest of your life. This will drag you into the most violent storms, and the best thing you can do for yourself is to learn how to navigate these waters. My role as your mother is to help you in this.
The first thing you need to know is that most of the problems a woman will face in life will be caused by men, and the reason is simple: men just cannot accept the fact that we have a life to live that is not made by them or for them. This works for mortals and also for gods.
Heaven forbid you from forgetting this, but if you do – for the storms might come with the darkest nights – I pray you can remember it.
If you knew you were meant to go through this, you would have taken your last moments of freedom to pray for Thanatos-sama to come for you. But the idea occurred to you when it was too late, and now you had no choice but to follow the path before you – leaving your land and your common life behind to become a subject of a far less merciful deity.
As the only daughter of a merchant whose wife passed away, leaving all the responsibilities concerning your education and the house’s subjects on his back, you were expecting to follow the family’s tradition in the financial field. By the lessons you’ve received from your father since you were a child, all your thoughts and expectations were connected to it, and nothing suggested that there was a different plan concerning your future underway...
That was why you were shocked when, one evening, after coming back home, your father announced that you were now a part of a divine, marital contract.
It happened that, in your era, the gods and goddesses still kept the tradition of marrying other deities as their official pair and, at the same time, adding secondary spouses from humanity and other races to their families. Those arranged marriages served to countless goals, from superfluous things such as pleasure and diversion to greater ones, like fathering heroes of all imaginable kinds.
Of course, the spouses’ families received appropriate rewards when the contracts were sealed with powerful, honorable deities, such as riches, a privileged life of priesthood or even superhuman abilities, but there were stories about treacherous gods who enjoyed inflicting pain to their chosen ones, and nothing but despair was reserved to their relatives. Despite all of the uncomfortable implications, this was still a desirable fate and a reason for festivities among many families.
From your part, you had at least two reasons to consider it a disgrace: first, you already had your dreams settled and weren’t willing to give up on them so easily; second, the chosen god in your case was none other than Poseidon, the Guardian of the Seas, who had a primary union with the goddess Amphitrite and whose fame was based, not only on the fierce control he maintained over his domain, but also on the unusually frequent acquisition of secondary wives.
In his case, the reason for the marriages was the production of resilient, capable heirs who would serve in his army, one of the greatest even among the gods. Poseidon’s wives used to be from many races, most of them folks connected to the sea, and according to what was whispered among your people, he had little to no love for humans, having spent an incalculable time without interacting with them, even less choosing some of their females for himself. Considering this, the reason why you were selected for this god – and why the whole thing was so sudden – was a mystery since the start.
And you weren’t in the mood for mysteries.
***
The carriage sent to take you to Poseidon’s domains was driven by two servants, which seats were only visible when you looked from the outside, but the speed and the rhythm of the vehicle moving through the cold waters was such that you started to imagine it following the designed path on its own, like a large, wild animal from the depths of the ocean, while you were its latest meal.
You weren’t alone in it: besides the two conductors, there were at least thirty young women surrounding you, sitting on the large lines of golden seats. Most of them were quiet, their noble heritage evidenced from their apparel to their mannerisms, on their beautiful traits the solemnity of someone whose only preoccupation was to fulfill the task they were prepared for; the others, with no connections to royalty and only selected due to the desirable qualities they carried, were less serious, not hiding their awe with everything they were seeing: now, you were passing by the most superficial layers of the oceanic territories, where the most known forms of life used to stay, and the carriage’s windows were large enough to allow you to observe the fishes, whales, dolphins and other creatures crossing the vehicle’s path; you were enchanted with them too, but you felt you’d enjoy them more if you weren’t there under obligation. There were still some girls with conspicuous clothes that put them apart as daughters of priests, who appreciated the beauties of their Lord’s world with the deep respect expected from them.
It didn’t take long for you to memorize every face and realize you were the only representative of humanity among those girls – a fact that didn’t help you to create a good impression among them. Some of the girls didn’t hide their surprise (and their discontentment) with your presence since you took your seat with them, while others chose to ignore you. You tried to ignore them as well: it wasn’t that being seen as inferior didn’t hurt, but you could be more offended if you haven’t too much to occupy your thoughts already, which included the crescent discomfort of being surrounded by water, and the sensation that everything was becoming darker as the minutes passed.
While you looked through the window, you understood where this feeling came from.
Of course. We’re descending to the deeper parts of the ocean.
Descending, and being taken away from the men’s lands. Away from the sunlight.
And away from freedom.
You were trying to suppress this very thought in order to not breakdown among the strangers, when someone let out a little scream, and other voices joined it with exclamations of fear and anxiety. When you understood what was going on, the entire carriage was drowning in a cold, profound darkness, and a deep roar rumbled in your ears. For a moment, none of you spoke, and though you couldn’t see each other, you knew that no one dared make a move toward the windows or anything else. When the roar ceased, the darkness softened a bit, and it was possible to see that the carriage was following a spiral path, a twirl that would certainly lead you to an abyss.
You weren’t immune to the horror of seeing yourself pulled down to the unknown, and combining it with the loneliness of not having another human with you was too much to bear. With your eyes closed and your hands crossed on your lap, you didn’t even know if you were praying for your survival or to come back home.
When you opened your eyes again, you saw that only the first of these desires came true, but that didn’t make you happier: the twirl was left behind and the carriage slowed its pace, but the absence of sunlight persisted, and now there was no sign that it would come back. Instead of it, a colder, bluish ray flashed out from somewhere ahead, becoming larger and larger until it swallowed everything around; at the same time, the water became shallow and clear, and at the first signs of solid ground – or the closest thing to it – the carriage finally stopped.
You arrived at the Lord of the Seas’ palace.
***
Though you couldn’t see any clear borders above you or at your sides, you had this sensation that Poseidon’s house and all its surroundings were confined inside a spherical space, a sort of force field that stood against the violence of the ocean tides thanks to its god’s powers. Well, confined wasn’t the best word to describe it; the domain expanded to places outside your sight and comprehension, but it was possible to imagine how they work on those distant spaces judging by what you saw near you: just like it happened at a beach, the solid ground slowly blended with the waters, until it disappeared, leaving only the waves at sight; but, unlike a beach, where this change occurs in a horizontal sense, there it happened above the horizon’s line, almost like a wall but slightly rounded, perhaps the reason why you thought of a sphere.
As one could easily suppose, all the matter that formed the ground at those peculiar coasts was white sand, brighter than the beaches of the human lands due to the light descending from somewhere above and touching each spot, filling them with life. As much as you admired the beauty of the landscape, you couldn’t help feeling exposed by that light.
All of this you observed after leaving the carriage, as you walked a bridge of white stone that crossed those fields of sand and led to the castle itself. With the light, you had also the chance to observe the girls with more attention… and because of this, their reactions now seemed even more unsettling.
As you followed the path to the building’s entry, a servant who greeted you after the carriage’s arrival walked ahead of you, holding a scroll and giving some explanations about the things you were seeing. While they spoke, you saw that some of the girls who showed a composed behavior were now crying; even among the noble ones, a nervousness was shared through anxious looks at their sides and at each other; the poor ones, sent by their families in order to help them survive and never having any word in this, were the most desperate, barely hiding their fear.
The priestesses, you thought, were the ones who were handling all of this at their best, and for a moment you considered following their example despite having no love for their deity… until that happened.
The servant was describing the edges of the domains, when a girl of purplish, scaly skin and dressed in priestly garment asked them about the entries and exits.
– Entries and exits? – the servant stopped and turned directly to the question’s author – You just passed by them. Why are you asking about this now?
The girl hesitated.
– The spot where the carriage left you is the only possible entry and exit for you, mortal people – the servant clarified – Of course, there are other passages to outsides, if that is what you are referring to, but these ones are only known and usable to Poseidon-sama, Amphitrite-sama and the few ones allowed by them. Us, servants, and all of you, do not need them. There is no reason for you to worry about this.
You weren’t close enough to the girl to see her face after hearing this, but it wasn’t hard to imagine it, for a wave of silent uneasiness spread among the girls around her, reaching even yourself.
– So… – another girl, a noble from the same species as the first, spoke – Apart from that one, there is no way out for us?
The servant turned to her and replied in a serious, somewhat annoyed tone, as someone who needs to explain something obvious.
– No. Precisely because you do not need a way out – they then spoke to all of you – You are property of Poseidon-sama. This is your right place now. Nothing that happens outside this domain is of your concern anymore.
The first girl, the priestess, mumbled something in a nervous tone, bringing the servant’s attention to her again.
– As far as I can see, you are a priestess from the Northern Waters, girl – they frowned – Your anxiety is incomprehensible to me. Isn’t your love for Poseidon-sama enough to make you accept this?
The girl stepped back, moving away from the servant and the others. She didn’t speak anything else. She had her hair braided in an intrincate hairstyle, but it didn’t stand like this for too long: she started to scream as her hands pulled the wavy, violet strands from her head.
It was everything too fast even to follow with your eyes. Before the servant or any of the girls could do or say anything, the girl jumped above the bridge’s parapet and fell upon the white sand, running across it to reach the edges of water. Her voice diminished as she approached the blue borders where the ocean’s roar was dominant, and soon her body crossed it, disappearing from everyone’s sight.
A terrifying silence fell upon the girls, and no one dared react. The servant, who also watched the scene without a word – perhaps because their eyes became used after seeing this very thing repeating for centuries – raised the scroll on their hand, searched for something in it, then used a quill to draw a line on the paper. They rolled it a last, then ordered you to follow them.
***
You passed under the dome-shaped doors of the entry and were led through a corridor with at least a hundred meters wide, with a black and white checkered floor and extremely high columns of white, polished marble.
By the end of this corridor, the servant who has been with you since the start stopped before a second one, nodded and left without a word.
This new servant was a tall individual with oleaginous skin and fins as ears, a water creature with a slight resemblance with an elderly man that came from his combed hair and formal attire, with a white jabot around his neck.
This man spoke to you in a stern, composed tone, and you soon discovered that he himself was a god.
– Greetings, all of you women chosen by our Lord. My name is Proteus, Lord of Rivers and vassal of Poseidon-sama. While you are yet to become his wives, I am in charge of your basic needs.
All of you nodded in respect. Proteus seemed to approve this.
– It is good to see that you were well prepared. This will make our work easier. Now, I shall give you the necessary instructions for your first day while I lead you to your lodges.
The man then ordered you to follow him through an endless sequence of smaller corridors. No one complained, of course, but a growing impatience was sensed among some of the girls, especially the nobles. You, on your part, were convinced that Proteus took the longer way just to have enough time to explain the rules and to evaluate each of you.
One of the most important things he told you was about the system of the marriages in Poseidon’s domain: the weddings used to occur in annual seasons, in a sequence of one wedding a day; the girls were sent to lodges where they were separated by their species, and after the waiting period, they were led to the ceremonies according to this, that is, when all the girls from a certain species became wives, a second species was chosen, and the process was repeated until all the girls were married… and pregnant.
– Because you are still not bearing children, you have relative freedom of coming and going during the waiting period – Proteus was saying – You are not obligated to stay in your rooms all day; you are supposed to become familiar with your new home and will have activities to occupy your time and prepare you to the ceremonies. However, there is a limited number of places where you are allowed to go, and soon you will understand the reasons for this.
While he was still speaking, a sudden quake reached your spot, forcing some of you to kneel and some to hold on the columns. It didn’t last longer than a few seconds, but it was enough to shake the moods of everyone. Proteus, the only one who didn’t lose his balance, frowned, more because his speech was interrupted than because of the quake itself.
A girl who was standing up with the help of another from her kind gasped.
– What was that, Protheus-sama?
The god stared at her with a curious glimmer in his eyes, as someone who had the opportunity to prove a point.
– This is one of the reasons I just referred to. This is just Poseidon-sama's occasional bad mood. It is nothing for you to worry about. It happens many times during a week, so you will have no problems in getting used to it.
That time, you were near the girl who spoke and could observe her expression, and through it were sure that she would take a long time to adapt to such thing.
This is the god we will have to belong to, then. This is the man I’ll have to endure.
No one spoke after this, and Proteus, supposing that his statement was accepted and processed by all of you, was ready to follow his way to the lodges, but a new interruption kept his feet on the floor.
An interruption caused by you, who, ignoring your lonely position as a human, took a step ahead and made your voice heard.
– Protheus-sama.
Not only the god, but all the girls turned to you, some of them surprised with your courage, others outraged by your audacity. Proteus, on his part, didn’t hide some discontentment once he saw you.
– If my eyes are not deceived, you are a human being. The one I’ve heard about. Y/n s/n, am I right?
You swallowed. A demonstration of disdain was expected, of course, but being identified by name and finding out you were the subject of a conversation even before your arrival was beyond imagination.
The situation, however, didn’t make you forget your good manners.
– You are right, Proteus-sama – you nodded – I am y/n from the … region.
Yes, the man wasn’t cheering with the fact that you were human, but having received no instructions to treat you differently because of this, he continued the conversation with no more surprises.
– So, what is it that you want to ask?
You stepped ahead.
– What kind of things... use to displease Poseidon-sama?
You noticed a subtle raise of his eyebrow at this question, as if Poseidon’s vassal was wondering why a mortal girl should be asking about something so personal abouts a god she was yet to meet.
– If we are meant to be his wives – you continued – This information might be essential.
Proteus sighed, but didn’t refuse a reply.
– Many things can displease him, child. There is no way to figure out when or how it will happen, and trying to guess it would be arrogant of you. The least you can expect is to avoid an increase in his wrath.
The man turned his back on you and nothing more was said about this.
After a few corridors, you reached the lodges at last. Proteus indicated the correct rooms according to the girls’ kind, so that as you went through the corridor, the group grew thin, until there was no one left but you.
Proteus stopped at the Human door’s room and you imitated him, the sound of your footsteps echoing on the hallway for a moment until the silence took over it.
A conversation happened before the door was opened for you.
– As you already noticed, humans are not a usual element in these landscapes – he started – I will not sweeten the truth for you: your life here will not be easy. So, take my advice and do not do anything that stands out of your purpose. That is, assuming that you know why you are here.
It was hard for to not let out a hint of sarcasm when you heard that, but standing before a god, you did your best in this sense.
– If I’m being honest with you, my Lord, I don’t know. This is something that only the man who sent me here can answer.
Proteus’ expression didn’t change when he replied to this.
– Whoever this man is, or whatever he is doing now, he is out of reach for both of us. If you need to find your purpose in my Lord’s domain, you will have to do it by yourself – his hand, covered in a white glove, reached for the knob and turned it – And you can start right now.

Deep dives into folklore: Norse mythology
Tumblr media
Norse mythology is a rich and complex tapestry of tales, gods, and creatures that originated from the pre-Christian belief systems of the Norse people, who lived in what is now Scandinavia. These myths have been preserved primarily in two major sources: the Prose Edda, written by Snorri Sturluson in the 13th century, and the Poetic Edda, a collection of anonymous poems from earlier centuries. Together, they provide a fascinating glimpse into the worldview, cosmology, and cultural values of the ancient Norse people.
Cosmology: The Nine Worlds
Norse mythology describes a cosmology that is divided into nine interconnected worlds, held together by the World Tree, Yggdrasil. These worlds are:
Asgard: The realm of the Aesir gods, including Odin, Thor, and Frigg. Asgard is often associated with the sky and serves as the dwelling place of the divine.
Midgard: The realm of humans, representing the Earth. Midgard is connected to Asgard by the Bifrost, a rainbow bridge.
Vanaheim: Home to the Vanir gods, a group of deities associated with fertility, prosperity, and nature. The Aesir and Vanir fought a war in the past but eventually established a truce.
Jotunheim: Inhabited by the Jotnar, or giants, who are often portrayed as antagonists to the Aesir. Not all giants are malevolent, and some even form alliances with the gods.
Alfheim: The realm of the Light Elves, benevolent and ethereal beings associated with light and beauty.
Svartalfheim: Home to the Dwarves, skilled craftsmen and blacksmiths who create powerful artifacts for the gods.
Nidavellir: Another realm associated with Dwarves, specifically known for its connection to the creation of the legendary hammer Mjolnir, wielded by Thor.
Helheim: The realm of the dead, ruled by the goddess Hel. It is a realm for those who did not die in battle and is often described as a cold and dreary place.
Muspelheim: A realm of fire and heat, inhabited by fire giants and ruled by the fire giant Surtr. Muspelheim is associated with chaos and destruction.
The Pantheon of Gods
The Norse pantheon is composed of a diverse array of deities, each with distinct personalities, domains, and roles. Some of the key gods include:
Odin: The Allfather and chief of the Aesir. Odin is associated with wisdom, war, poetry, and magic. He sacrificed an eye at Mímir's well to gain knowledge.
Thor: The thunder god, known for his incredible strength and his powerful hammer, Mjolnir. Thor is a defender of Asgard and Midgard.
Frigg: Odin's wife and queen of the Aesir. She is associated with fertility, motherhood, and wisdom.
Loki: A trickster god and shape-shifter, often causing mischief among the gods. Despite being a Jotunn, he forms complicated alliances with the Aesir.
Balder: The god of beauty, light, and joy. Balder's death becomes a significant event in Norse mythology, leading to Ragnarok.
Freya: A goddess associated with love, beauty, and fertility. She is also skilled in magic and has a connection to the Valkyries.
Ragnarok: The End of the World
Norse mythology predicts a cataclysmic event known as Ragnarok, signaling the end of the world and the rebirth of a new cycle. During Ragnarok, a series of events unfold, leading to the downfall of many gods, the destruction of Yggdrasil, and the submersion of the world in water. The surviving gods and two human survivors will then emerge to repopulate the world and begin a new era.
Norse mythology provides a rich and multifaceted view of the world, blending elements of creation, destruction, fate, and free will. The stories and characters within this mythology continue to captivate readers and have left a lasting impact on popular culture, influencing literature, art, and entertainment for centuries. The intricate web of relationships among gods, giants, elves, and humans creates a narrative tapestry that reflects the complexities of the human experience and the forces that shape the world.

I have a question for people that understand God of War characterizations better than me.
If a Ragnarok era Kratos wound up in the battle of The Last Olympian, what would he be most upset at? Children fighting in a war or that they were being forced to fight their parents battles? I know, obviously there’s no real crossover between GOW and PJO, it was just a fleeting thought I had.

RWBY: Saints of Remnant notes: Spectulative Theology
WARNING: CONTAINS TOPICS OF RELIGION, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
Tumblr media
Now anyone who has been following my blog is well aware I am a Catholic and my reimagined RWBY AU, RWBY: Saints of Remnant, is set in the Narnia Multiverse.
Why I did this was because I felt the best way to incorporate my faith into RWBY was to turn to the likes of CS Lewis and learn to think like him.Not that I consider myself on par with him or the rest of the Inklings.
Supposed Remnant was another world created by God in the same multiverse as Narnia/The Space Trilogy, and The Triune God(The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit) revealed himself there, what would that look like? How would it change the nature of Remnant?
Which I came to several conclusions
Humans and Faunus, like Humans in Narnia, are descended from Humans from Earth's past who had stumbled into it by God's will
Things like Aura, Semblance, the existence of Faunus, Dust, are a configuration of Deep Magic of this world
Christ and The Holy Spirit appear in this world by different appearances and different names and The Father created Remnant through Christ as he is the creator(Colossians 1:16)
The Grimm given their nature must exist as some kind of Satanic force within this world and are connected to the fallen nature of Humans and Faunus
So I will go into each one briefly so let's start with the first one
Tumblr media
This one is plainly obvious given the setting Im implying its set in, humans and faunus are descended from Humans from Earth. To be exact humans around the world dating from the days of the Roman Empire up to the late Victorian Era/Gilded Age during times of war, exploration, and persecution.
Remnant itself, formerly known as Omnibus, is older than Narnia but younger than Charn. And it's also set after The Last Battle so Narnia is long gone by the start of the story. But it should be noted the Ragnarok War which shattered the world takes place at the same time as The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe.
Second. Deep Magic
Tumblr media
As I understand it, Deep Magic in Narnia is basically the Supernatural Law of each universe which is in different configurations in each world and thus have different results.
For Remnant's case, Deep Magic would probably be responsible for the odd hair colors of people, it would transform some humans into faunus(thus making them Sons of Adam and Daughters of Eve, an offshoot race of humans), and giving both the potential of semblance and aura. And the Maidens and Wizard(who are among a total pantheon of 13 individuals in this AU) are of a deeper magic.
3. How God(The Father,The Son, and Holy Spirit) reveals himself in Remnant
This is obvious, I tried to do what CS Lewis did and come up with a supposed incarnation of Christ/Aslan in Remnant, and borrowing ideas from @vitamaeternum
I present The Storyteller(art done by @magiesheartlove)
Tumblr media
sent by the mysterious Author Allfather to "tell" Omnibus into existence and proceeding from The Author Allfather through The Storyteller an entity known as The Ink of Life which works a lot like Aslan's Breath.
4.The Nature of Grimm and the connection to Original Sin and the nature of evil
Tumblr media
We all know Grimm are drawn to negativity and how they are soulless abominations.
What if the Grimm are a manifestation of original sin that Satan and his horde of demons use to ravage and corrupt Remnant?
St. Augustine of Hippo describes Evil as privatio boni, evil exists as a corruption, negation, or absence of Good for Good is substantial while evil is not. It exists only as some kind of sickness, a cavity in your tooth, the hunger of an empty stomach, a festering wound, a black hole.
And I will go into this when I explore grimmified humans and faunus, The Grimmborne.
But basically Remnant is a wounded world, the Grimm exist as a corruption/negation of creation that festers in said wounded world and has increased after the Ragnarok, and the negativity from sin, corruption of the four kingdoms, and the tragedy of the increasing death rate of hunters exacerbates it("Always Winter, and never Christmas!")
I don't want to reveal too much, but I wanted to give you all a taste of what I have in mind.
