"…His constant banter was brought to a halt as he lifted a certain piece of iron from a pile. It was small- it had to be for what it was used for, an iron half-moon on a hinge, rusted and old, but worn on the inside. A child’s manacle. The same he’d had strapped to him- metal, never leather. A witcher boy could tear through leather. The manacle needed to be strong enough to endure a tortured child’s desperate thrashing, withstand their death throes. 

He didn’t realize he was panicking until Geralt touched his arm, jerking Lambert into motion. He swung at the white wolf with the manacle still clenched in his fist, missed and stumbled. The room was so close and dark. It smelled wet and old and dead. He twisted and threw the manacle into the dark, grasping at his own wrists. He could still feel them there, the cold iron he wore smoothed by his own flesh. 

Screams echoed in his head- not only his own. His friends, his classmates. Agony and dying, one boy choking on his own blood, one wailing for his mother. Lambert, biting through his tongue to quiet his pleading. 

Another hand grabbed him, this time stronger, and he screamed with the rest of the boys, screamed in the aching dark…"

1)harpercass: my best friend got me into this ship and honestly they are very very cute. if it wasnt for stephcass they would be probably my favourite ship for cass for sure

2)timives: again, the same best friend got me into this ship but i have to thank them because this ship is a great ship

3)damimaps/mapsbird: i didnt look at them as a ship material but now that i do its a great ship made out of a great dynamic. i love my little detective duo <33

4)stephrose: SORORITY GIRLS RISE!! jokes aside i think they would have been a very fun duo to read about in a platonic or romantic relationship

5)colindami: friends to lovers my beloved <33 they were very very entertaining to read and their bond was something i would like to see agian i wish dc would just bring back colin tbh but thats not gonna happen sadly :((

6)harlcativy: god gave us two(2) hands for a reason😈😈 also idk if this is a rareship but i didnt see anything about it so im assuming it is

7)darlasteph(idk their ship name): i smell lesbanism on them but darla being the reason steph became robin and darla dying because of stephs actions after she got fired is :(( it makes me cry ngl

8) taidami/greenbird: i honestly did not know this ship existed until a week ago and from my researches they are the same age(correct me if im wrong) if im right then artist lovers here i come!! i actually want them to be friends badly but i would also love an academic rivals to lovers arc with them(them being friends in their vigilante self but fighting in civvies lol) academic rivals to lovers because damian would love that trope imo(kinda canon with their manga)

hihelo o/ i found a thing recently on how to do an outline brush on procreate where the outlines don't overlap, https://folio.procreate.com/discussions/10/28/51536 (the comment by greenbird)

to summarize:

create a default brush, duplicate it, and combine the two

in the lower brush's properties, increase the max size (this is the outline)

for the upper brush, in rendering, set burnt edges to max, burnt edges mode to behind, and then set the blending mode to lighter color if you want a darker outline, and darker color if you want a lighter outline. this makes the fill color always appear on top

for the upper brush in color dynamics, under color pressure, set the secondary color to max. then tap on the "max" to get a pop up, go to the pressure tab, and tap the middle and drag it to the top left ↖ corner. this makes it so the upper brush uses the other color, and so that pressure doesn't affect how much of that color it uses

for both brushes, in apple pencil, set opacity to none. this means that the pressure doesn't affect the opacity of the brush

for the lower brush, in grain, set blend mode to color dodge. this fixes any artifacts you might still get when brush strokes overlap

D'you wanna detail more about gullin and the flying and blindness thing for me to take forever to get around to having thoughts about?

For you, Sleepy, I'm going to offer two brief snippets.

The basic release of his powers takes the form of a whirlwind carrying a handful of knives which he directs with his will. With the full release, he becomes the wind.

He *almost* gets there in book 1 of Days of Dusk. Here's a description of his sparring session with Lissan:

Gullin flung a knife towards Lissan, inviting him to step into the attack while he forced him to parry another knife with his Sword. Now this was the tricky part. While Gullin kept six or seven knives in the air at a time, he couldn't focus on more than three to lay out their distinct paths. The others kept spinning in the general vicinity waiting for their turn to be useful. So while Lissan prepared to block the two knives he saw, a third one was coming towards his upper back. It got close. Very close. At which point Lissan pivoted on his heel, let one of the decoys fly past him, blocked the other one with his Sword, and flicked away the last knife with the back of his hand, then shook it as it presumably stung. “Oh, come on!” Gullin shouted. Lissan grinned, his bright eyes alert, gleaming with… enjoyment? He was having fun? Gullin sent three more knives towards him in a quick succession, planning his next move. Maybe he could get more knives to go where he wanted — yes, he wanted to try it, and his opponent was up for it. He felt a thrill, acutely aware of any solid obstacles for the knives, not even seeing them, but mapping the layout in his mind, feeling as the wind moved around them and buffeted them. He rattled the branches on the trees, combed the grass, and carried the birds flying in chevron formation far overhead, all at once. It was a good feeling, almost as if he wasn't standing there, but became the wind itself. Almost. You’ll get there, Greenbird, the Spirit of his Knife, the Wren, chimed in and chirped in delight. He narrowed his eyes and aimed a fourth knife at Lissan’s left bicep. The kid didn’t see it coming. In all fairness, neither did Gullin — the knife vanished entirely into the wind — but he was aware of it. The blade cut into the muscles and Lissan yelped.

And by book 2 he is struggling to find a sparring partner who'd give him a proper challenge. Here's a description fresh off the keyboard (yesterday's NaNoWriMo writing):

Gullin was the wind. He leant into the feeling without reservations, delighting in how right it was. He surfed around the arena, enjoying the even curves of its walls and the perfect hemisphere of the Laerius dome enclosing it from the top. A thought nudged him that this wasn’t right, and that wind shouldn’t be caged like so. He should be free. Later, he countered these thoughts. For now, he had to focus on the lone figure in the middle of the sandy area. He made a sharper turn and hit Lissan directly from behind, in an attempt to use his broad back to put him off balance. Of course Lissan’s reflexes were too good for it to work — he braced himself when the vanguard of air stirred his hair and tickled the skin on his back. Gullin didn’t see him, not in this incorporeal form, but he was aware of him as an obstacle — of the flow of air around him, of the solid block that had to be circumvented. As Lissan settled more firmly on his feet, Gullin sent two smaller gusts towards him from either side; one low, aimed at Lissan’s left shin above the edge of his boot, the other coming towards his right bicep. The gusts were followed by invisible knives. This had to be the full release of Gullin’s power; neither he nor Ivy could imagine any more tricks up his sleeve. Invisible knives, Gullin disappearing entirely into the wind — no, becoming the wind. For anyone other than Lissan, this training would be deadly.

Three ships: Nobody could ever guess my main ship after looking at my blog, that's simply not possible, but it's Cora and Robert from Downton Abbey. No, but all jokes aside, they are my favourite couple.

Apart from Downton, there's also Aziraphale and Crowley from Good Omens (though mainly because of the show and Michael Sheen and David Tennant — they did not have as much chemistry in the book)

Amy and Sheldon from Big Bang Theory. They're both nerds and quite the difficult people on their own, but they're perfect for each other.

Favorite color: this seems to change according to my mood, but most often it's orange, but not the in-your-face sort of tone. I'm more about the subtle hues of the setting sun :)

Currently consuming: the cup of tea I made two hours ago when I sat down to write for a bit. And yes, it is indeed cold, like almost always

First ship: either Hazel Grace Lancaster and Augustus Waters in The Fault In Our Stars or Sam and Rosie from Lord of the Rings. I don't quite know which of those came first
