I mostly think this poll is hilarious (and some people are taking it way, way too seriously) but it’s starting to get really weird how often people on the opposite side are dismissing Gundam — a giant of science fiction that remade a genre in its image — and quite literally lying about Suletta and Miorine. I’ve seen people claim they were canonically married to men, people claim the show’s ending was rewritten by interns, claim they never hugged, and other claims regarding them not being canon.
While Bandai and Kadokawa did censor one interview, and Bandai released an “open to interpretation” statement, these no longer hold true. Official material has henceforth referred to them as married. One instance of censorship and a statement they’ve clearly walked back on does not erase the fact that the show itself heavily emphasizes their wedding rings, refers to Miorine as Eri’s sister-in-law, and makes it abundantly clear that they are married.
“I knew I was going to make an epilogue, but it was a while before I decided upon the exact number of years that should pass in-between. The ending itself follows “The Tempest,” and depicts Suletta and Miorine getting married and becoming partners.”
- Hiroshi Kobayashi
They are completely and unambiguously canon, and arguably were never decanonized to begin with given the literal text of the show.
An addendum to this: I’ve also seen a strange dismissal of the history that G-Witch pulls from.
The original Gundam inspired Revolutionary Girl Utena, with Lalah Sune in particular (the creator of an iconic Gundam archetype) serving as the inspiration for Anthy Himemiya. Gundam has had a queer fanbase for decades, and has had gay characters (with Yoshiyuki Tomino himself confirming this) since the 1990s.
G-Witch draws from Gundam’s extensive, genre-shaking history, classics like Utena and Rose of Versailles, and Shakespeare’s The Tempest. It brings Gundam and Utena’s connection full circle, and is in conversation with every Gundam series that came before it.
It’s unfair to dismiss it as just some random show, or — as I’ve seen some do — credit its open queerness to the influence of completely unrelated American media, as if Japan is utterly devoid of gay people.

Well-being: should we abandon the traditional sauna for infrared?
Well-being: should we abandon the traditional sauna for infrared?
In a small street a stone’s throw from Place de la République in Paris, a new type of shop opened its doors in early 2021. At first glance, it looks like a coffee shop with the refined and warm decoration of those that flourish in the neighborhood. We expect to find matcha latte, banana bread and other trendy delicacies on the menu (and it is the case) but Belleyme is mainly home to two infrared…

I'm not sure if I believe the "Wakaba Isshiki did unethical experiments" theory in the fandom, but I do think this is the biggest proof of it in-game:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because how the hell would she know that?
The first explanation is that she did experiments by sending people into palaces and then testing what happens to them if the palace collapses. Which is messed up for obvious reasons.
The second explanation is that she did NOT test it, meaning she was just making shit up. Which is funny but also would make her a terrible scientist. This explanation is less believable because everything else about her research is too accurate.
There's also a theory that Wakaba did unethical experiments on Akechi specifically. I'm not sure I believe that, since the evidence for it is pretty shallow (like the featherman game scientist experimenting on grey pigeon). But this scene is once again the biggest argument you could make for that theory. The researcher in the image above refers to palaces by their correct term 'palaces', which they say was based on Wakaba's research. But that's only something you would know with firsthand experience of the metaverse. And the only person they know who could access the metaverse was Akechi (that we know of, but i dont think Shido would rely only on Akechi if there were other options).
So yeah this scene is very sus. It's most likely the writers didn't think too deep about the implications. There's no way they wanted Futaba's mom to be sketchy, right? But even if it's not intentional, the scenes and their implications still exist. So in conclusion those theories make sense, I get it, and I don't blame anyone for headcanoning them and having fun. And tbh anyone involved with cognitive psience was portrayed as some degree of unethical (maruki for example), maybe this is just on-brand

there are gifsets floating around here with ast*ri*n being uncomfortable with the potential foursome involving the drow twins and the dialogue option chosen -- rightfully so! -- points out that it's not right to ask this of him: someone who has experienced abuse in the past, especially after this foursome is very much a spur of the moment thing, jumped on the love interest suddenly and without proper discussion beforehand, of the expectations and consequences this would have for the relationship in the long run...
only for a handful of people to then turn around on all of that and call it "pearl-clutching" and "totally not" coercion when the decision comes up for gale. even though he expresses being uncomfortable with it as well. even though he, too, has experienced abuse (grooming, in his case, and a relationship that also held an incredible power imbalance). even though you have to make a hefty 25 persuasion check to yes, coerce him into a situation he didn't want. gale isn't even comfortable with someone he does know when the protag does take the time to talk about things properly before they are done (halsin).
i am not even going to get into the cuck jokes. this is a man who removed himself from the situation in a way he still could while also still trying to please a partner who coerced him into this in the first place.
at this point i just wonder why gale's trauma is being turned into a joke. and by 'wonder' i do mean i know exactly why, but it's Truly A Choice.
(i should clarify that this is a personal interpretation and one that i'm not comfortable arguing over.)
