I step out of room 880. The Manager had me make up the room for the guest by hand. Shards of broken glass so small the guest won’t notice. Not until it’s too late.

Tonight’s guest has one of the special rooms. I don’t often like those rooms. I don’t like when the rooms cut me like one of the guests. I don’t like when the rooms break me like a guest. And I don’t like to think about what happens to the guests in those rooms.

There are shards of glass in my fingers and it hurts to press the button to call the elevator. The glass forces itself deeper under my skin. My fingers bleed on the buttons and I hope my Manager doesn’t make me come back up here.

But I know she will.

The elevator is nice. No mirrors inside it. The walls are wood panels, dark and smooth. I press the button to go back to the lobby and it hurts all over again. Blood smears on the buttons.

The doors roll close and I slouch, unsure what to do while I wait. The elevator is empty. The room creeps back into my mind.

The glass shards are just slivers. To keep the guest from running away from the thing I put in there. It’s large and dark and blends into the carpet. The glass is everywhere, though, and it will make the guest slow and scared.

A soft chime from the elevator tells me it’s time to wait. For the guest. But my Manager isn’t at the front desk.

It’s Her.

“Aw, you’re not hurt already, are you, Bug?” She croons, adjusting the guest book. “It’s a big night tonight and I expect you on your best behavior.”

“Yes, Ma’am.” The words come out of my mouth but I don’t say them.

“Now, come stand by me and we can wait together.”

And I do. I stand by the front desk while She hums softly to herself. I run my hands over my pants and the glass catches in the fabric.

Something bangs on the other side of the door behind Her. And I can hear my Manager howling.

“Eyes forward, Bug. We want our guest to think we have nothing but service in mind, don’t we?”

“Yes, Ma’am.” I try to keep my mouth closed but I can’t. The words are pulled out of me like splinters.

I run my hands over my jacket, smoothing it down. My Manager had to adjust it. Make sure I wore it correctly.

I miss my Manager.

I can hear another scream, angry and violent, from behind the door. But I don’t look. I watch the revolving door.

Maybe, if I do a good job, She will let my Manager out. I’d like…I’d like that.

The guest stumbles out of the revolving door. I stand with my back so straight and stiff it hurts. And I wait.

Reasoning for each under cut:

Palmer: Got "skipped" in the line of Battle Tower leaders for a muppet in L:A. Also, he is Barry's dad, for that sweet sweet angst.

Emmet: I think this one is obvious - besides, it would be a nice parallel for one twin to be thrown into the region before Unova, and one into the region after.

Châtelaines: A bit more unlikely TBH given this is their region, but they're next up after Ingo without counting Emmet.

Red / Blue: Technically, they're the heads of the Battle Tree so they count. Also, Kalos was notorious for Gen 1 nostalgia, so what better way to invoke more Gen 1 than these two? They could even Mega their starters! Blue was even mentioned to have visited Kalos before (by an NPC who mentions a guy who said "Smell ya later!", his iconic quote).

Leon: Head of the Battle Tower in SWSH so I'm counting him. Besides, Britain and France are quite close geographically, only separated by the Channel. It would be really funny (and on-brand) if he got lost and ended up here. Also, he's Hop's brother, for the angst if we want to go that route.

Anabel: Technically, she hasn't been isekai'd in specifically a Legends game yet. Given that Kalos' generation is the one that also remade Hoenn (albeit also snubbing the entire Emerald BF), and Looker has his own Lumiose City sidequest in the postgame, she actually has a reasonable case to show up here.

Ingo: Has nothing to show but sheer popularity - and potentially becoming a recurring character for the Legends games, given he was a relatively oddball pick for L:A to begin with.

Hi! I wanted to ask something regarding Pinesong and Tears of the Kingdom if that's alright with you.

How would a Pinesong sequel that takes place before or during the events of the game work out? would it even happen?

Yeah, you're fine! Somebody else asked me the same thing, actually, so I've been thinking it over the past few days. I don't have a full plot figured out (lol nor do I intend to write a totk-compliant sequel 😜), but I can imagine how some of it might go.

Minor spoilers for TotK ahead:

I guess to start out, I do feel bad that Pinesong Link in particular would have to go back under the castle 😭 I think he would have done it, though, with people getting sick and something like Malice rising out from beneath it. I suppose it's because of the similarities between Gloom and Malice that he would have gone back to the Great Deku Tree to retrieve the Master Sword, which was left in Korok Forest during Pinesong. Revali would understand. He would Not Be Pleased.

He would not go down with them, I think, which means there's a lovely, angst-ridden portion of time (days? weeks?) where Link is recovering/stuck making his way through the sky island, and Revali doesn't know if Link is even alive but also can't search for him the way he wants to because of everything happening with Rito Village (with Mipha stuck in a similar situation re: Zelda, of course. Oooooh, wonder if there's a way to work something interesting in with Mipha and all those false Zelda appearances? Hmm. 👀)

This is where the combination of TotK and BotW Champions gets hazy for me, because I don't want to take away from the development that the new Champions/Sages go through (there's a satisfaction to passing the torch on to the next generation), but Revali would have absolutely wanted to go up to investigate the source of the storm and I don't think Teba would have stopped him like he did Tulin. You could write it where Ganon specifically takes out all of the old Champions when they go to investigate the disturbances, though it kind of sucks that they would all have to get rescued by Link *again* 😂 Alternatively, there's a fuzzy connection building in my mind between the Champions, the Divine Beasts (which apparently got sent to eeby deeby in TotK but which still existed in the world of Pinesong), and the Divine Beast helms that the ancient sages all wore for some reason. Maybe the Champions all go missing in their various regional disturbances, but due to some interference other than Ganon? I'll have to sit on that one for a bit 🤔

Main plot stuff aside, given Tulin's gifts, pre-TotK I think Revali would definitely have taken Tulin under his wing (sorry). With Tulin's arc so focused on learning to depend on others, I wonder if Revali would have seen himself in Tulin and winced at what he saw. I wonder if Revali would still have passed the Great Eagle Bow on to Tulin when he awakened as a sage. I think maybe he would have.

Pinesong Link would totally roll with the Stable Trotters. He would love pizza. Revali would hate the depths (no sky). Can't speak to what Kass would be doing, because. You know. 🙃

Ooooooh, I don't know if it has already been said but when Akari/Kiki and Ingo goes back home, where do they spawn?

Could be a good plot that that just... fall from a space-time rift, in front of a camera, in front of an audiance.

The public seeing 2 people spawning from a portal with ancient-ish cloths: ...Wat

They wind up back in modern day Hisui, so in Sinnoh! Specifically where the temple was on Mount Coronet, so they get reverse eebied to the Spear Pillar. Its a bit of a waking up in the Temple of Time moment in OoT where everything is all different.

Them coming back doesn't immediately fix the rifts, little ones still occur in modern day for a bit, kind of like aftershocks to an earthquake before they finally stop. So Sinnoh's in a bit of a high alert at the moment, they actually paused letting young new trainers get licenses until it settles for their own safety. They dont want ten year olds getting brained by weirdly agressive pokemon

Akari actually gets hurt by one when some idiot ignores the current warnings in place. They're brought to a hospital in Snowpoint by some rangers with Ingo and thats when it gets weird. You got two amnesiac people, one who doesnt exist (Akari because not their real name). But Ingo at least knows his name so its like ok, they look for any missing people named ingo, bam subway boss ingo from unova comes up, Interpol gets involved, etc. Since Interpoll is involved Cynthia has to get involved and the more questions they get answred the more questions they have because HISUI?!?!? Arceus!?

They try to keep it hush hush because Interpol tries not to broadcast the whole ultra wormholes and space time rifts thing. Its an open secret in certain circles, like all the Professors know of it, the Leagues, etc but its kept a bit hush hush so not to alarm the greater public, or entice megalomaniacs.

Akari and Ingo were caught by some game trail footage but it was yoinked by Candice before it could get leaked. The only thing allowed were some identification photos. Ingo's was sent over to Unova to try and get in contact with his family for a DNA test to be run to confirm his identity, and that was a whole thing.

They float some pics of Akari around in Sinnoh because they figure Akari to be of Sinnoh origin. Theyre close but not quite because Kitakami.

So they're not youtube famous, though Ingo does manage to make a tweet from his Xtrans by accident when someone at the hospital got him a charger and that caused a whole mess lol.

Have you ever thought of an au where due to matching holes in their memories and some other things, everyone in Hisui including Ingo and Akari think Ingo and Akari are father and daughter? Like for example, Ingo arrives in Hisui before Akari, and Akari can't remember her dad but can remember that her mom said he passed away before she was born, or went missing, or vanished. Clearly, to Hisui, this means Ingo is Akari's missing dad who got kidnapped across space-time. Depending on when this happens (before/after the red sky and exile debacle), maybe Akari gets adopted into Pearl Clan cause Ingo's her dad, or Ingo goes feral on Kamado for threatening his daughter. Found family with a literal twist. I kinda came up with this idea based on thinking of Ingo remembering Elesa a little bit (and depending on the canon, potentially misremembering their exact relationship status), and talking about his memories of his future partner at like a warden gathering or something, and the few bits Akari can remember of her mom line up with Ingo's memories of Elesa, so peeps think Ingo got eeby-deebied while his partner (Elesa) was pregnant, meaning Akari's his future kid who had to grow up without him because of the rift taking him and stuff. And then everyone gets triple confused when Ingo and Akari manage to make it back home

That’s quite an idea for an AU. I have thought about AUs where Ingo partially remembered Elesa, but not with Akari or the mixup as you described. I think that could be funny, and I would encourage you to write it. I sadly have already proven that I don’t do well with very long ideas LOL

Hmmmm I haven’t actually thought about that! It’s very possible. Ingo basically adopted her in Hisui, so he’d probably have a connection to her soul like he does with Emmet’s. He’d be able to know where she is and if she’s feeling strong emotions. But does that apply to before she gets sent to Hisui? Would he have that connection to her regardless of her having met him yet? Ingo’s connection with Emmet manifested the moment he (and also himself lol) was born (meaning one day while beboppin’ around, Ingo just suddenly knew that Emmet Exists Now™) so maybe it would work the same for Akari/Dawn.

One day while reading in some library in Kanto, Ingo feels a little flicker like a heartbeat brush the edge of his consciousness.

“Omg!! my daughter!!! She’s here!!!!”

I think Ingo wouldn’t be as reluctant to interact with Dawn during the Before as he is Emmet. After all, who knows what would happen if he were to come into contact with his own living self??? A paradox???? With Dawn, however, he’d probably involve himself in her life somehow. Maybe during her Pokémon journey he just so happens to find himself in Sinnoh. Dawn comes across him on a route and they have a nice friendly battle. Ingo is sure to giver her lots of battling tips!! She’s gonna grow up into a powerful trainer, after all.

As for the other thing, do you mean whether or not he sees her after she got un-eebied? If so, then absolutely. While he came back to Unova a month after his living self got eebied, Dawn was missing for over a year before she returns. Ingo kept an eye on the news after he learned that Akari was actually the Sinnoh champion! He knew that she’d go missing. And that she would return, of course. So once he learns that the Sinnoh Champion has been found, he finds a way to contact her.

Dawn is ecstatic to hear from him, and flies to Unova as soon as possible for HER very much deserved reunion hug. Especially after she learned who he was once she got back. And researched what happened to Warden Ingo and learned he died. She felt horrible, and blamed herself. If she’d been more insistent he come back to the future with her, he would still be alive... Then she gets a call like “AKARI, MY DEAREST DAUGHTER!! HELLO!!!” And all is good in the world.

Edit: uh oh now I wanna write about Akari learning about Ingo’s fate and then receiving a very LOUD phone call.

scrunkly (my “baby”, character that gives me cuteness aggression, character that is So Shaped): Mr Segundus — he's such a sweet, lovely John, everyone's baby, I love him so much. But also Mr Honeyfoot and Major Grant (my beloved fox in uniform).

scrimblo bimblo (underrated/underappreciated fave): IDK if he's underappreciated but Mr. Norrell. Like. He's literally a meaner, book-hoarding version of me (or maybe I'm just as mean and I don't know hehe). I just want to hug him sometimes.

glup shitto (obscure fave, character that can appear in the background for 0.2 seconds and I won’t shut up about it for a week): Mrs. Pleasance. Her and her kind advice and her amazing bread have my whole entire heart. But I guess John Uskglass could apply here too because he really DOES turn up just for two seconds fjfhkdnd

poor little meow meow (“problematic”/unpopular/controversial/otherwise pathetic fave): Jonathan Strange. He's pathetic, he's trying his best, he deserves nice things, but he also keeps running away from nice things. I guess the Gentleman could also apply because controversial?

horse plinko (character I would torment for fun, for whatever reason): also Jonathan. He's just so fun when he's suffering. Oh also John Uskglass (AGAIN) because it would be funny.

eeby deeby (character I would send to superhell): Everyone who has ever harmed Stephen (even the gentleman) but apart from that, Lascelles.
