Thursday, Thursday, Thursday ...

It's raining, it's pouring, and there's so many old men snoring that I fear I may just be completely juddered off my chair before too long! ;-)

Trying not to be distracted by the word juddered ... but, the one and only marble being what he is, is now waving a little virtual cranial post it note that says "do you remember the vodka ad where it says 'beware the Judderman my son, when the moon is fat'?" Of course I remember! But that's just distraction ... so ... keep your post it notes to yourself and let's get back on track. ;-D

Yesterday being Wednesday, Wednesday, Wednesday, it was a shiny metropolis day ... and boy was it a sweaty one! Yours truly, Biggest Dog and shopping friend all went in ... and, whilst shopping friend went off and did whatever she needed to, Biggest Dog and I sat in the old charabanc and watched the car park world go by, whilst desperately wishing there was more of a breeze.

Just getting into the car park proved fun enough. You know when you begin to wonder if there's something that everyone else knows and you don't? Well ... it was one of those moments. There was the big arrow that dictates which way round the car park you go ... there was I following said big arrow ... and there, coming towards me, were an awful lot of people not following the direction of the big arrow. What ... the ... frell!?!

So, as the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the nonplussed and fecked off few, I tucked the charabanc in as far as I could and I watched as about half a dozen cars continued on their wrong direction journey and left the car park. Eventually I parked ... waited for my friend ... and, upon her return, I drove the correct way out of the car park and looked for the reason for all the cars going the wrong way. There ... was ... nothing. No reason for it at all. (big sigh)

They were talking about exactly this on the radio on Tuesday, Tuesday, Tuesday. About how people in car parks either can't park/drive or just don't give a shit about either. So, I smiled wryly to myself at yesterday's shenanigans. The bland or angry expressions on the people's faces as they went the wrong way past me ... because, obviously, I was the one at fault. (rolls eyes and let's out another big sigh) ... and yes, some of them were on their phones ... because, well, you just can't put your phone down even when you're driving. Zombies in cars in phone world with neurons firing randomly as their bodies carry on driving and their brains TikTok endlessly ... oh the joy of it!?!

In other news ... here's a couple of geranium plants that have just set themselves up where they felt like it. And, why not? P'raps I'll join them. That way, the crazy car driving phone zombies are unlikely to find me ;-) ...

I've had my car for a year now and I have never once parallel parked*

I'd like to go to an exhibition this weekend, but there is only roadside/on-street parking available (I've even double checked on google streetview to be sure. and for a few blocks in every direction) and honestly I am panicking a little because this is it. it's unavoidable now. I will have to parallel park.

(* of course, I did parallel park twice during the test to get my license, but that was between poles and traffic cones, not between real people's cars which could be bumped into)

Anyone else despise driving, I’ve passed and all but I still dread and avoid it at all costs. And no one in my family really empathises with me about it

I know it sounds childish but I can’t find myself enjoying any part of it …

Reasons I hate driving:

1: my depth perception sucks, and I can barely tell where I am on the road. (Somehow no one has noticed this)

2: I can't tell how fast I am going and it's very distracting from the drive-straight-and-don't-crash thing to look at the speedometer every five minutes.

3: There are other people who get mad at me for driving, regardless of whether or not I am driving the speed limit.

4: Tunnels in my vision.

5: getting distracted by floaters.

6: Can Not read the signs very well.

7: cars suck in general, and I hate getting gas.

8: I can't tell left from right and have nearly crashed because of this.

Reasons I need to drive:

1: Jobs.

2: groceries.

3: to actually connect with people.

4: There are no public transports available in town.

You do not need to advertise using the train to me. You do not need to encourage me to use public transport. I already want to. I am desperate.

You DO need to make it so that the train is not 3-5x as expensive as driving. You do need to make it so I can get to the train station without driving and paying a zillion quid for parking. You do need to make it so that trains arrive regularly and at sensible times with connections. You do need to make journeys not take 6 times as long. You do need to make them accessible for those with disabilities. You need to pay your staff and drivers.

I don't know how I can be clearer. LET ME GET THE BUS AND TRAIN.
