thoughts on the summoning choreo and the LiB's ages

aight so i watched the digital ticket last night and spent way too long analyzing the choreo for the summoning and a) want to ramble abt it cause its cool and b) wanna give my 2 cents for the Lords in Black ages theories (i don't think I've seen anyone mention this but im sure im not the first person to notice)

so the choreo for LiB do at the very beginning of the summoning is like a lot to take in all at once so i didn't take it in all at once and rewatched the same like 10 seconds over and over

so each of the LiB have their own little bit of choreo that's theirs, with Blinky and Nibbly's probably being the most obvious. But they all seem to do the same moves - with some little differences for a few of them - at completely different and seemingly random times. They do all start with "their" move. So breaking down each one, starting with:

Wiggly: The first move Wiggly does and the first one we see in the pro shot. Bent over at the hips, arms out to the side swinging in and out at the elbows. Reminiscent of his tentacles, yknow. One difference I can see with his choreo is he puts the majority of his weight on his right leg with the left out to the side and partially bent - he only does this the first time he does his move, and Tinky does similar but to a lesser extent.

Tinky: First thing he does, the bend down snap up repeat, arms back when down arms out in front when up. First time you see it in the pro shot is Nibbly doing it in the background behind Pokey (roughly 2:01:07). It doesn't make anything immediately jump to mind, other than like, goats fighting.

Nibbly: Since Nibbly has the lollypop prop it looks like licking the lollypop. For everyone else, it's just their right hand sorta sliding down in front of their face. The first time we see this is Wiggly doing it during the line "Wiggly wants his wrath".

Blinky: Bent at the hips, circle down and left to right and up. Blinky holds his hands in front of his to make that triangle/diamond over the one eye. Pokey holds his mask in front of his face for this, it looks like Wiggly does either the same hands as Blinky or basically the same but centered on his face, it's difficult to tell, Nibbly and Tinky just have their hands out in front of them.

Pokey: Swapping from facing right, right hand up in front of your face to facing left with the left hand up. Makes me think of Hamlet. Pokey looks at the mask while facing right and his hand when facing left. Everyone does the same with or without whatever prop they have. Tinky and Wiggly put their arms all the way up in a more of a presenting something type pose - Tinky's arms straight up and Wiggly's a bit bent. Nibbly does the move but faces forward instead of looking at his hands - he does this for every move, face is constantly directly toward the audience.

so I do wanna say first that while they do have all the same bits of choreography (just at different times) none of them do it exactly the same. There are small differences between all of them on the same moves (ex. Tinky: some people keep their head up when going down others have their face to the ground. Nibbly always keeping his face forward. Legs bent and feet flexed. Etc.)

Ok. So. The order that each of the LiB do each move is the same for all of them, but they each start at their own move and end on their own move.

The order goes: Wiggly, Tinky, Nibbly, Blinky, Pokey

Its a really fun way to keep the scene feeling cohesive but also super chaotic. It's pretty much impossible to notice a pattern if you aren't replaying the same part specifically looking for if there's a pattern.

As for their ages, I can't say that I actually have any strong opinions on the LiB's ages (I think any sort of hierarchy among each other they have is based on what I can best describe as their eldritch vibes) but this is fun to think about so like.

We all agree that Wiggly's the oldest so basically, the order Wiggly does the choreo as the ages of the LiB. And I think that when we look at it like this it has a sort of like, coming into being as the universe evolves to fill whatever cosmic need there is or smth like that. If you get what I'm getting at.

Wiggly's the oldest, he's clearly in charge and I think is also the most vague if we try to narrow down his "thing" if you know what i mean

Tinky would then be second oldest, I think it makes sense. He fucks with time itself, once you have a world you kind of need time for shit to happen in it

Nibbly next, middle child. He's hunger. As soon as you have life in the world that life will need to eat. And, he's the only one of the LiB who will consistently exist as a physical being outside of the Black and White (at least for a short while) and I think having the middle child be the one to have that sort of ability just sorta works

Blinky is the second youngest. His whole thing is sight. Not everything alive can see but a whole load of them can. Insert some sort of specific connection to the development of humanity. He's pretty satisfied with just having Watcher World seemingly. His brothers all have their domains and shticks already, so he'll just be happy in his corner torturing the shit out of whoever goes to Watcher World. No need to step on anyone's toes, y'know.

Pokey is the youngest and steps on everyone's toes. He both has a pretty nailed-down theme of control but is sorta, messy about it? his two main appearances have his existence in the physical world be directly connected to the meteor to the point of him getting kinda fucked over by it in Yellow Jacket. He's "The Singular Voice", he wants everything to be him, if it's not his voice he wants it dead. He's also the only one who we've seen get scolded by Wiggly. So like, the annoying and loud little brother.

I could manifest endless money into the void, but that's not the case. Even after entering the void, we still have jobs, we eat, we sleep, we live normal lives like ordinary people. They used to live in the Tetris game, able to make a world of their own with the hundreds of block shapes. Kind of like Legos! I remember visiting their room and seeing the world they were able to build with their expertise for turning abstract shapes into art. But then they refused to go to one of the Chess rounds one week... and Kinger punished Zooble by collapsing and destroying their world. They managed to evacuate before the application deleted, and they've been...well, living here with me at Purble Palace ever since! We get along surprisingly well. Gangle? She's so sweet and kind. Helloo, while I agree with you that Milo is also a victim, I also think that the other anons are also justified in feeling that way about him. I'm really sorry if I'm wrong, but the way you reply to other people's thoughts, about things that you don't have the same opinion on, feels like you're telling them that they are wrong to feel that way.

Let's unpack this for a minute. Because I think this is a great opportunity.

I am not invalidating that anyone has an opinion. They are allowed to have an opinion. And, if they approached me like you just did, I would most likely respond to that opinion in a constructive way. But someone messaging me and just throwing out a random feeling they have that is negative, and then getting mad at me in return when I don't agree with them, is childish. I will not be apologizing for that because most of the people that are "angry" about something, come at me in a really negative context. And then when I state something differently (without attacking them even) they get irrationally upset. I mean, a prime example is me saying that Milo is also a victim. That there can be more than one victim. I then got a response saying I was the one flying off the handle. Following that was another response telling me that I am a hated author. That my game is terrible. That I am a bad person. I mean, think about that for a minute here. Does the response corelate with what I said? Does it warrant that? No.

People are always valid to have an opinion, but there are two things to say about it. Most of the time, the people coming at me, are internet trolls. Not actual readers. And I'm sorry, we were indoctrinated at a young age to "ignore the bullies" and I just don't think that is the right response. Because now we have a generation that ignored the bullies and they got way worse because no one had a social contract to call them out.

Two, the ones that are not trolls, are lacking a lot of media literacy. That is actually an extreme problem within our society. And, since I am the author, it is my job to offer what I was trying to say within my story. That may not align with someone's opinion. But me having my own opinion, does not warrant someone getting mad at me. I didn't get mad at them so why am I suddenly greeted with toxicity.

I get where you are coming from saying that people are allowed to have their own opinion. And I have stated over and over again that everyone is valid for it. I'm not even saying for someone to change their mind or go away. But, someone else's opinion does not invalidate my own. Just as my own does not invalidate theirs. And if someone feels like it does, and this is going to sound cruel, but it is not my responsibility to regulate that for them. That most likely stems from a personal standpoint. I am not responsible for someone being offended by what I have to say about my own story and my own fictional characters. You don't see me coming on here and crying out that someone on anon made me "feel bad". That's not a thing.

There is a difference between just saying something out loud and engaging in a conversation. Constructive criticism is where you offer a opinion, give why you are offering it, and then explain how it does or does not work for the narrative. Then, I can come back, ask questions, respond with what maybe I was intending, and figure out a better way to get what I was intending across.

Non constructive criticism is just coming to me as an anon, and saying they are angry and want to hurt someone. Or that they don't like something of my story without giving why.

To further some points. Milo is a triggering character. I knew this from the beginning. The things that he did is not for the faint of heart and speaks to betrayal. And a lot of people who have been in a situation where they feel betrayed, are going to respond negatively to that. But, that is on them. That is for them to work through and own. It is not the responsibility of my story to change because of that. And coming on to say that you hate a character and want to harm them. Or coming on to say that I'm a bad writer. Or even coming on to say that I'm hated on reddit (to which I say, isn't everyone?) is providing nothing to this community, world, or our author reader relationship. It is done solely with the intent to try and hurt someone because the reader themselves was hurt.

To end this, I am going to make this statement. Telling me it "feels" like I am telling someone they are wrong is based in a personal feeling towards a situation. It is not based in facts. It is not based in anything that I have said. And while everyone has a right to their opinion, just because I am an author and a content creator, does not mean I don't get to defend my story or my characters. If I was being racists, sexist, transphobic? All things to come at someone for. But because I wrote something that makes people angry and they don't want to continue going on a journey with the characters and would rather just block their minds to character growth? I can't do anything about that. If there is no conversation they want to engage in, if they simply want to come on and troll me, then they need to not be surprised when I treat them the same way they are treating me.

Can I make Fan OCs for your setting? Thinking about this makes me tired. ♡ John never hesitates to simply relocate you where he wants you to be. You're trying to sulk in a corner? He takes out the big soldier muscles to grip you by the waistband of your trousers or belt, and picks you up to drag you to where he needs to go. Price might not have the height advantage of other members, but you'd be best advised not to underestimate him. He will throw you over his shoulder or put his hands between your legs, cupping your crotch and spin you around or out of the way if needed. Shameless, efficient, and oftentimes amused by your squeals and complaints. He'll make sure you can't get away from him for too long, and if he says it's bedtime/sit-on-his-lap-time/dinner/time to go over the plan for the next mission and you have to stand between him and the table, his body pressed up to yours to the point the table hurts you, then there's no wiggling or arguing out of it. Try to defy him when this man has a plan of where he needs to be, and you need to be with him at all times. Try him.

♡ You don't even realize the service Price is doing you by making you his darling. You're so careless, especially when you're eating, you don't see the hungry eyes of the soldiers that would love to have a taste of what isn't theirs. Price is single-handedly keeping everyone in check by forcing you on his lap despite your protests, having his arm around you and the other hand on his gun while he demands asks you to feed him. You're very vulnerable when walking to the showers, so he stalks after you like a guard dog, always keeping his smile on his lips but death threats in his eyes. You may hate on him for keeping you in his room, locked and occasionally chained, but it's for your own well-being. Because if he let you out of the safety of his room, you'd be mauled for sure. If he keeps you close and forces his touches and demands on you, John can be sure you'll be okay and unharmed. He's protecting you—at least, that's what he thinks he's doing—regardless of your opinion. The only time he'll be 'careless' is when he's punishing you—and even then, he's standing in the shadows, watching over you, smoking, and making sure no one puts their hands on what belongs to him while also teaching you the valuable lesson that you really do need his protection, other soldiers ready to pounce at such a delicious treat.

♡ Before making you his darling officially, he's definitely not ashamed to use his authority. As I mentioned before, he uses it to steal touches and keep you close to him, but he also likes to police your life as much as he can. You hate his lap, and he loves forcing your hips to grind against him as you squirm until you gasp and force yourself to still. He'll lick food off the corner of your mouth in front of everyone else and grin even when you yell at him to stop. Sometimes he makes you wear his shirts improperly so his nametag is showing on the outside for everyone to read. It's his way of marking you, by showing everyone else what they'll never have. His hickies are legendary, and he has ruined some of the shirts he gave you by ripping off the collars or cutting off the arms so he could present his bruises and bites to everyone, letting them know how brutally sweetly you made love to each other last night. No worries, though! John actively shows off his scratches and bites that he got from you even though no one is asking, giving way too much information to everyone.

What do you think of the choice to make Aegon a rapist? That's the whole thing that really turned me off his character originally & I think it's a shame they went that route because he genuinely seemed so interesting. ( Though I don't expect everyone to have the same reaction it's all fiction and I can empathize with fictional murderers just fine so it's just a personal thing )

Hi anon! First things first thank you lmao!! It's wild to hear that people actually change their opinion/feelings on Aegon based on my ramblings! <3 (For the uninitiated: #aegonposting)

Honestly, him being a rapist in the show does not bother me as much as it bothers other Aegon girls (I understand hating the decision, though)— the implications are there in Fire & Blood (he was known to be promiscuous and to fondle serving girls even as a younger boy) -> him being a rapist is not really that big of a jump from his "characterization" (using this term loosely because we know so little of F&B Aegon).

I didn't even have that much of a problem with introducing him as a rapist in episode 8— the thing that bothers me most is that they had 8 minutes (so odd to give adult Aegon so little screentime!) to establish Aegon as a character and they decided to load so many negative traits onto him that the audience automatically saw him as a Joffrey-like figure when he is pretty clearly not that. The fighting pits was a very… interesting choice.

Now they're trying to give him other traits and people scream OOC— I already had some of those in my askbox. It's very bizarre because, as I said, we have seen adult Aegon for only 8 minutes, most of that screentime he was going through a lot -> we have not seen how Aegon acts normally and it's frustrating to see people act like they already know everything there is to know of Aegon.

Particularly grating is the entire debate on him being a proud/good father; being somewhat of a distant / uninvolved parent can definitely coexist with loving your children fiercely.

Getting back to your question on him being a rapist, I see the choice to portray him like that as a commentary on the broader rape culture that exists in Westeros. Theirs is a society that is so deeply entrenched in misogynistic traditions and practices, where women are often treated as commodities and men are raised with a sense of entitlement over their bodies.

In ASOIAF, noblemen are frequently seen visiting brothels, viewing it as a normal and even expected activity— the act of buying sex in itself it not bad, but it becomes violent when you realize how many of the women in westerosi brothels were sold against their will and are working under unfair indentures.

This normalization of brothels, where many women are forced into working against their will, reflects the casual acceptance of sexual exploitation and the use of women for the pleasure of men.

The tradition of First Night is another example of the institutionalized misogyny in Westeros. Though it’s mostly looked down upon in present-day Westeros, this tradition allowed lords the privilege of “taking” the bride of their vassals on their wedding night.

Aegon himself is also an example of the problematic views on consent and autonomy within Westerosi culture. His forced marriage to Helaena highlights how even the nobility often has little control over their own bodies and destinies. Both Aegon and Helaena were forced into their union to serve as pawns and nothing more. They could not and did not consent to what they were forced to do.

This lack of autonomy over one's own body is further illustrated by Aegon's behavior. He brought Aemond to a brothel to lose his virginity at the age of thirteen, suggesting that Aegon himself had likely experienced something similar, why else should he see it as a necessity for Aemond to do the same? This cycle of abuse and distorted views on sexuality perpetuates the culture of normalized sexual exploitation and a fundamental misunderstanding of consent.

When considering Aegon's character and the choice to make him a rapist, it's important to recognize the narrative purpose it serves. My siblings and I grew up with various undiagnosed mental health conditions. Two of them had symptoms became a lot more severe in their late teens. Symptoms of depression and anxiety sometimes look like being a jerk to the people closest to you.

As the sibling dealing with this, and also not knowing about my own symptoms at the time... I would never want them to feel like they have to apologize for what they were suffering. It was hurtful sometimes. Anxiety attacks are much harder to spot than panic attacks and can look like a person acting meaner than usual; so if someone is having anxiety attacks often and you don't know what it is, yeah that stings. I was hurtful sometimes, too, echoing ableist ideas I'd learned at school or church without really understanding what I was saying or realizing it applied to the people I loved the most. Also, I didn't know until more recently, but I had a lot of symptoms growing up too that were hurtful to them, like how out of control mad I could get if the light was on too late at night, not understanding yet that I was overstimulated and thinking it was common sense that they should turn off the noisy light. Or just ignoring them for hours at a time, or trying to pretend to be emotionless because I didn't know how to process things.

None of them have ever made me feel like I had to apologize for that. We were all kids, kids dealing with really difficult stuff, and we just give each other grace.

As we've all grown up and understood ourselves and each other better, we're a lot more likely to apologize for the ableism we've worked to unlearn than for symptoms we didn't know how to deal with. It's also a lot more healing and productive to make more positive memories together (which we already had a lot to draw on, just mixed in with and complicated by the hard memories) than it is to analyze our past and try to decide who was more hurt or who was more wrong.

That's the fic I want to see for the 2003 turtles, over and over honestly. To me, it would be more satisfying to read about Leo realizing why he acted the way he did and why it was unhealthy, taking better care of himself and then seeing his behaviors improve because that's what happens when you're healthy, than to read about him getting yelled at. And the show kind of did that! Leo comes back from his training with the Ancient One acting much kinder and more Leo than he has in a long time, maybe ever. I'd like to see the other turtles learn from his experience about their own needs amd how they can take better care of themselves and each other

Raph getting to meet with The Ancient One for help with things he's been dealing with his whole life that his family didn't even realize were symptoms because they just thought it was normal, is a fic I would love to see a hundred different takes on.

Or, while Leo's gone, or even before, Splinter talking with his other kids about what Leo is going through and helping them not blame themselves, and all of them helping each other navigate a really difficult situation

Anyway that's just my opinion shaped by my experience. Everyone else is entitled to theirs

Remove "white" and replace "publishing" with everyone, and we're getting closer.

Diaspora in my experience are a lot more anal about "authenticity" and accuracy. The white people who care about it normally just parrot what the diaspora are saying without questioning it. The greatest sin is honestly that white people, but honestly everyone else as well, parrots "diaspora" without even caring about all the different opinions on topics or understanding it. Random diaspora said something with big words? Let's amplify it and spread it as gospel. There's this token diaspora, or the token diaspora group, and that's who now matters forever.

Diaspora put themselves up to the nigh unattainable measure of accuracy which even mainlanders don't hold themselves to. Mainland books can often end up with a lot more diversity, because they don't feel the need to be accurate, because everyone already lives that accuracy. Diaspora culture is a culture that many diaspora almost try to reject, and badmouth what diaspora culture is, and then try to get as close as possible to what they believe is authentic.

If a diaspora doesn't have much cultural authenticity, who'll notice? Completely unrelated to the culture people? Or will it be fellow diaspora who might have an idealized view on the mainland culture and therefore demand every diaspora do it justice? Maybe the diaspora are so anal about the authenticity because they still want to cling to the "pure" culture of the mainland, untainted by being diaspora, and they miss the mark.

White people, and "Outsider" diaspora might not even know enough about mainland culture to really have an opinion. They probably won't know and understand cultural quirks, habits, traditions, cultural events and festivities, and more, but you know who does? Other diaspora. Other diaspora will notice if you represent a certain cultural event "wrong." They'll notice if you take "too many" liberties in your reimagining, or if you take inspiration from cultural stories. Diaspora might be much quicker to criticize eg diaspora food culture for not being authentic enough. While mainlanders might be much more laidback. Which has been an ongoing debate for years.

Any white person, or once again "other" diaspora will just parrot what they hear. It's the diaspora who set the tune for march. Some even accidentally, or on pupose, overstepping into other cultures to make it a general issue, instead of a personal issue.

Many diaspora also write FOR diaspora. Stories about young diaspora children trying to figure out life as a diaspora? How it affects you living between two cultures? Books about understanding the culture as a diaspora? Navigating racism? Books which explains cultural events in great detail, which a mainlander wouldn't need because they and everyone around them live it actively? Books covering stories around not feeling lesser because your culture isn't the dominant one? Handling the rejections of your own culture because of majority-peer pressure? Maybe it's even a story set in the mainland, but with heavy tones of the experiences of a diaspora, which you wouldn't find in mainland stories. And obviously as mentioned all the quirks and traditions brought from the mainlands.

I can obviously just speak from a very shallow experience, but that's how I see it.

I do think that some diaspora might have a higher demand for accuracy and authenticity though, through the experience of having their culture messed and misrepresented by American media. Alternatively having observed other mainland cultures in that spot, and wanting to ensure that theirs doesn't end up in that same situation of being messed with, by outsiders or people who do not understand nor care, and just create cultural slop through wilful ignorance. This could lead to holding a higher standard for their fellow diaspora, because there's the expectation of knowing better, and being better, so you have to do everything to avoid messing it up like you'd have seen in mainstream American entertainment by outsiders. You end up with an artificial hurdle created by people who didn't understand your culture, but still affected diaspora enough to make that need for authenticity and accuracy a high priority.

I think a lot of how diaspora stuff plays out is directly connected to people feeling rejected by both the old culture and the new one.

That was NOT jealousy, that is simple common sense, knowing that a wedding day is about the bride and groom who have waited for this day their entire lives, and spent so much money, and energy and frayed nerves to get to this exact moment,

Wanting to, at the same time, enjoy this day that is about them, and also survive all their loved ones on both sides, that, from experience, don't always get along, with as little hangups and drama as possible.

When Eddie asks Buck "But the wedding is about you?" He reminds Buck that indeed it is not about him, and that being seen with Tommy in front of friends and family could wait.

Not forever, just enough for his sister and their friend to get married and go on their honeymoon.

Then he can tell whoever he wants whatever he wants. So that his sister and friend don't have to deal with drama that isn't theirs on their wedding day because they have enough to be stressed about as it is.

I remind everyone that the last time the Buckleys and Hans seniors were at the same house, they were less than cordial.

Now I realize, you all are gonna go, what and why do you assume bad things immediately, and why shouldn't he bring his guy to the wedding? And all sorts of questions little siblings and unaware ppl ask.

Because as someone who grew up in a huge family with drama queens who love chaos, and been to numerous weddings and helped my own younger sister organize one, I can tell you that without anyone coming out, there wasn't one wedding of my aunts and uncles and several of my cousins that I have been to that didn't end up with a crying bride.

For multiple reasons, most of them was about a mother, a mother in law or some family member who decided to air their grievances or opinions and make someone else's day about them.

So no, Eddie wasn't jealous, he was spot on with his assertion

And Tommy didn't clock anything from Eddie’s question, he looked just as put out with an "I didn't think about it" expression himself and waited for Buck to respond, because what can you say to that?

And Tommy merely went with Buck's wishes, he didn't advocate for or against, he's just there for the ride.

Eddie was polite in comparison to other LI Buck had before with Tommy, and even offered him a drink.

I don't think Eddie was jealous, Eddie knows he's still in a relationship, and he's not quite ready to get there.

He is protective of Buck, he always has been. But he is not quite jealous yet.

He needs to make an active choice to acknowledge that he wants Buck that way first. Give it a couple of episodes.

Lucifer keeps a weary ear on the kitchen. It's the human's first time on dinner duty, he's left Mammon to make sure they don't burn the house down...and the more he thinks about it, the more he regrets that decision.

Not that Mammon would let anyone else near MC. Nor is he particularly famous for stopping things from catching fire.

He finds reasons to linger nearby, hoping to keep the human from third degree burns or poisoning his family. Hopefully not all humans are cursed with Solomon's culinary abilities.

His worries proved to be entirely unfounded as Mc served up a dish of mouth-watering delights.

Mammon melted, and then proceeded to see money signs. This is a straight up restaurant level chef, under his roof, he could make a fortune off this human!

Or...he could watch that look in their eyes as they concentrate on intricate recipes, he could watch their careful hands plating up edible works of art, and keep it all to himself.

As the avatar of Greed, he opts not to share, and monopolises MC's cooking as often as possible.

Leviathan broke out the anime recipe book and BEGS MC to recreate all sorts of weird and wacky recipes, some that most chefs wouldn't even look at, much less after substituting so many ingredients as most couldn't be found in the devildom.

MC loves the challenge, and Leviathan loves watching them work it out before his very eyes. From picture to live action, they crank those meals out in record time and he loses his mind every time they do it.

He's MC's number one fan and absolutely started a blog purely for their culinary mastery.

Satan was more impressed with how good they were at building dishes from scratch. Ingredients common in the Devildom are completely alien to MC. Does that stop them?

Nope. Tasting it once is enough, they've got a mental map of the Devildom equivalent to just about every ingredient they need, and if they don't, Satan gets to do his favourite thing.

They end up tasting all sorts of new foods, eating at new restaurants and overall losing hours at a time doing "food research".

Asmodeus fears for his figure with MC around. No, really, that food is Celestial level heavenly.

The avatar of lust even did himself a little experiment. He ordered a dish from Ristorante Six, then, asked MC to cook the same thing.

He doesn't eat out much anymore, he does however, find some creative uses for that homemade chocolate mousse of theirs...

MC has quickly learned that Beel is exceedingly good at pulling puppy dog eyes, and they do love to feed him. They used to hold off on making new recipes because they hated the thought of wasting food, but with Beel around, food is never wasted.

'It can't be worse than eating Solomon's food.' He says.

'Yes but...you're supposed to taste it. Not eat the plate too, hun.'

He can't help it! He loves MC, and he loves food, so food made by MC is perfection.

His brother know never to go near MC's cooking until Beel's share has been set aside for him, he's gone on more than one rampage because MC cooked and he didn't get any.

Belphegor thought it was silly at first, it's just food, why make it so fancy? Why have schools and stuff dedicated to making something taste good?

That opinion didn't last past the appetiser of MC's "Welcome out of the Attic" celebration.

They cooked a five course meal for everyone, from scratch, and every dish looked and smelled absolutely incredible. The food itself was an experience all on its own, and watching his brothers be utterly enamoured with the flavours was by far his favourite sight to date.

He saw MC in a new light after that. Their talent brought people together, they had a knack for knowing what to make for an occasion, and the way their eyes lit up at the sight of a full table was the stuff of dreams.

Does he wake up earlier on the days they're on breakfast duty?

how do i deal with social anxiety?

disclaimer that social anxiety is a spectrum, it comes in very different forms, and there’s no one size fits all for how to deal with it. this is just the perspective of a 21 year old girl who’s trying to get by as much as anyone else. it’s perfectly fine if my way doesn’t align with yours; the goal is to ultimately find ways that do align.

with that said!! it helped a lot to realize that most people genuinely don’t care. this is the spotlight effect—you think that everyone’s laser-focused on what you’re doing, when in reality no one’s keeping this elaborate tally of when you embarrass yourself, of when you fail at something, of how you carry yourself in general. life is hard and busy for most people, and even if they do find amusement in something you did, it’s the equivalent of looking at a funny tiktok and scrolling past it ten seconds later. just like you, most people are tangled in their own little cobweb of problems.

this is not to say that people who do obsess over other people don’t exist. they absolutely do. but their opinion should be virtually worthless to you, bc no well-rounded, emotionally intelligent person is going to be spending their free time voyeuristically hating on somebody else’s every move. if they do have that kind of time, they’re probably miserable people without much going for them, and misery loves company. the best way to respond to them is just to starve them of the attention they’re trying to evoke from you.

i really wish someone would’ve told me this in high school, bc for me high school was the peak of that kind of behavior. teenagers have not been alive for that long, so i think the concept that other people have emotions that are just as complex, just as valid, just as deserving of compassion as theirs are is pretty hard for most of them to grasp. and hell, some of them even age into adults who never outgrow the “my feelings inherently have more value than yours” “everyone else is an npc” “my impulses must be validated first and foremost” mentality. it’s like yes, you should prioritize yourself at the end of the day, but sometimes there’s more nuance to it than that & that shouldn’t just be disregarded in favor of instantaneous comfort.

also very important to note!! please don’t be hard on yourself on days where you backslide. the halcyon standard of never being afflicted w anxiety does not exist. i try to bounce back from things pretty quickly, but even i have days where i feel like shit, days where i’m anxious about what other people think, days where i’m not courageous enough to do something, days where i cry in the shower etc etc. the calmest person you know has had them. they also just tend to be the kind of person who doesn’t disclose them, so you get this larger than life aura from them that makes you think you’re defective in comparison. i promise that is not the case. you are human and it’s okay not to be perfect. the key is to hold yourself accountable and to try to do better next time.

whether you’re dealing with teenagers who’re yet to mature, adults who refuse to mature, or just anyone who’s being hostile towards you without a sane cause to be, just know it has everything to do w them and nothing to do w you. it may seem like it does, but it really doesn’t. behavior like this is without fail a manifestation of other people’s insecurities, as opposed to an actual statement about your worth as a person. as long as you’re rooted in who you are, it will never matter how other people perceive you.
