Eddie crosses his arms over his chest and leans against the doorframe, taking in this moment of peace with reverence and gratitude. Simple, domiciliary moments like this warm Eddie from the inside out—it makes him shine, almost, to see his son and his best friend love one another so freely and fully and know his place is right next to them.  “Morning,” he calls to them, grinning when Buck startles and nearly drops the bowl of batter on the floor, pink-faced and sweeter than the waffles he’s making. “You two sure know how to put on a show.”  Chris giggles, picking at the bowl of chocolate chips and blueberries. “Buck says the best way to start the morning is to sing with James Hetfield.”  “I actually said Ronnie James Dio,” Buck corrects, grinning goofily, “but Metallica came up on shuffle first and Chris wouldn’t let me skip it.”  “Didn’t know I had two metalheads on my hands.”  “Hey.” Buck points at Eddie with the spoon, dripping batter all over the counter and floor. “We can’t all like Springsteen and CCR and Waylon Jennings. Some of us have taste.”  Eddie snorts. “You like Springsteen,” he reminds Buck, wagging a finger at him and pulling out a chair at the table. “You went to a concert with Bobby.”  “I went to two, actually.” Buck dips out a ladle of batter and pours it on the iron griddle. “Show’s what all you know about me.”  Eddie puts his elbows on the table, rests his chin in his hands, and smiles up at Buck, warm and gooey and sanguine. He can’t wait to spend the rest of his life learning every single thing about Buck.

Being an adult means I can get a cheap package of ground beef and eat it raw by myself and no one can tell me no.

i'm so glad the weather is finally normal here. it was so shitty, hot/humid (i'm talking 90F/32C+ and 95%+ humidity) and rainy here for the entire months of june and july. no hiking got done. very little running.

i started lifting again and i'm looking forward to seeing how the simple 3x/week routine my buddy gave me will serve me. with the good weather i'm really enjoying running again too, and hiking. i think i moved more this week than i did in the entire month of july lol. i feel great though and def looking forward to the fall season

We have 31 days of excellent whump prompts, with three prompts per day to pick from, fun themes, and 10 alt prompts to play around with. We hope you enjoy! Additional info + plain text versions of the prompts can be found under the cut.

FAQ and Rules

What sort of content can I create for this event?

You can create whatever you want (fic, art, edits, etc). Any fandom is allowed, as well as OC stuff. NSFW is allowed, but please tag your content accordingly! The only thing not allowed is AI-generated content.

Do I need to make 31 things to participate?

Oh heavens no! You can make as much or as little content as you like, skip days when desired, or combine prompts (so for example, write something that covers a prompt from day 1, 2, AND 3). You don't have to do the days in order either, go wild! To be considered a 'completionist', you only have to make sure that at the end of the month, you've covered 31 prompts from 31 different days, but whether you do that in 31 works or just 1 is up to you.

What are these alts about?

If none of the three prompts of a particular day are your cup of tea, you can swap them out for an alt prompt of your choice.

What are these themes about?

Just a little bit of extra fun for the mods. Like last year, we'll be handing out various badges for people participating in the event. A full list will be posted later (and linked here once that happens), but perhaps there will be a special badge or two for people who can't be completionists but who do manage to finish every single day of a specific theme ;)

How do I tag and is there an AO3 collection?

It suffices to tag your work with #AIlesswhumptober2024 for us to see and reblog it! Please also tag nsfw, since we'll be using that tag too. Tagging the day is optional but does help the mods along.
