Author’s note: Ok so I received an ask based on this tik tok for Eddie and it literally haunted my thoughts all day today so I knew I had to write it asap! It’s so very on-brand for him and anyway to the anonymous user who requested it THANK YOU SO MUCH and I hope this fits the vibe you were going for! 

Y/N let out a sigh as she finally flipped off the shower. It had been a long day so the very first thing she wanted to do upon reaching Eddie’s was to take a shower, something he happily granted her. He had a new plot to work on for D&D something about the cultists.

“You see they need a motive,” he had been explaining on the car ride over, so animatedly she wondered if he was even looking at the road. “That’s been the issue! There hasn’t been a motive-”

“Eddie! Eyes on the road!” Y/N scolded as she clutched onto her seat.

“And before that was fine,” he rambled on, no change to his driving whatsoever, “But now we’re far enough down the line that they’re starting to question me and the one thing I won’t tolerate is being questioned!”

“The one thing?” she had teased with an eye roll. "The list I could come up with of things you don't tolerate. Basketball players, school in general, any music that you deem 'fake music'-"

“Oh come on!" Eddie exclaimed, driving a bit too close to the edge of the curb for Y/N's comfort before swerving back over, "Some music is just bad and you know it!” He shot her a little glance and a smile, “And I always let you question me! It’s just those idiots I don’t take it from!”

“Uh-huh,” she nodded with a little laugh.

And so needless to say as soon as the pair had entered the house Y/N had set down her things, heading for the shower and Eddie had thrown himself right back into his campaign. Hence that was exactly where she found him as she stepped out of the bathroom, wrapped in a towel and feeling remarkably refreshed. 

Eddie, much to Y/N's amusement, was laying stomach down on the trailer floor surrounded by guidebooks, maps he had painstakingly sketched himself with intricate levels of detail, and pages upon pages of notes. 

“Eddie, I’m gonna get dressed so we can watch a movie, ‘kay?” Y/N called as she watched him work, not even looking up from the page he was holding as he chewed his pencil in his mouth.

“Mhm,” he replied absence-mindly, obviously not hearing a word she said. 

“I’m going to order from Enzo’s, do you want anything?” She said as she walked into his bedroom, searching for one of his shirts and her pants from earlier. 

“Oh wow,” he replied from the other room causing her to let out a soft chuckle. I could say literally anything right now and he wouldn’t clock it. 

“I’ve decided I’m going to go to school naked tomorrow,” she called, glad Wayne wasn’t home to hear her jests since he’d definitely have some questions. 

“Whatever you say, sweetheart.” That got a genuine laugh out of her as she pulled on his shirt and her pants, using a mirror to make sure her hair wasn’t going to dry funny…but looking at herself in the mirror gave her an idea. A small smirk came to her face at the thought as her hand trailed down to mess with the hem of her shirt.

I wonder what will get his attention…?

With that, Y/N turned and headed toward the room. When she arrived, Eddie hadn’t moved an inch but his position had changed. Pencil still tapping against his lips, he was holding one of the maps now, seemingly muttering something to himself that was too low for her to hear. 

“Eddie?” She asked as she slowly made her way over to him, double-checking all the blinds were closed. 

“Mmm?” He hummed, still not looking at her as he scanned the man for some invisible linking detail to fully tie together his campaign. She shook her head with a smile as she came to kneel close enough to him that she knew she was in his visible but far enough away to not disrupt his current chaos. After having seen him fuss at the Hellfire members one too many times for exactly that, she knew it would only deter her plan and she didn't have time for that. 

“Eddie, baby,” she cooed, “Before you get too deep into…all of this, would you just take one second to look at me?” She watched as her words this time did seem to register just a bit since she was now closer in proximity and she received her reward.

“Yea-” Eddie’s eyes went wide and his jaw dropped ever so slightly as he turned to see his girlfriend on her knees, in her jeans and one of his shirts…well sort of in one of his shirts. Because the second he turned to face her, Y/N lifted the hem to reveal her boobs, her boobs without a bra. His face instantly lit up into a large smile as he processed exactly what he was seeing, the pencil still in his grip as he grinned like an idiot. 

He took a moment to look back at the map he had been examining but couldn’t help to look back at her as well, causing Y/N to beam as she continued to hold up the shirt.

“So…” she prompted in a sing-songy tone, “Would you rather do that right now,” she gestured with her free hand to the map, “Or, would you rather do this?” Eddie gasped at her question and fully turned to look at her with a look of mock hurt and disbelief written across his face. 

“What kind of a choice is that?” He scoffed, making her giggle. “What kind of question is that?” He scrunched his nose making her laugh harder, drawing his eyes to the way her chest moved as she did. A smirk came to his face as he looked back into her eyes, holding onto the map as he had before she had effectively flashed him. “I’ve been waiting to work on this,” He held up the map to her but kept his gaze locked with hers, still smiling, “alllllll day,” his dramatics had her giggling again as he shook his head, eyes flickering between her and her boobs still on full display, “Damn Y/N, what kind of a question is that?” The girl had a little huff of her own and faked a pout as she looked at him, making her eyes especially wide and pitiful.

“So…” She began to lower her shirt down, keeping that same pouty look, “You picked-”

“No, no, no!” He said quickly as he threw down the map and pencil, effectively leaping to tackle his girlfriend into the carpet, sending them both sprawling to the ground. Y/N let out a little squeal which dissolved into giggles as he laid his head right on top of her chest. Eddie’s hands trailed up her sides as he pulled her close to him.

“You better be damn proud of yourself L/N,” he said with a teasing scold as he nestled right up into her as her body shook with laughter, “You’re the only person on the face of the entire Earth, in the whole frickin’ universe, that I’d set aside D&D for!” 

“For me?” Y/N asked as she tapped her finger to her lips, pretending to think before looking down at him with a smirk, “Or for my boobs?” 

“Hmmm…” He returned her smirk as he moved his hand and began to push up the shirt she was wearing once again, “Well L/N…you’ve got me there.”

“Eddie!!”

“You! Obviously you!”

ANOTHER LONG POST for the Bridgerton over-analysis corner! SEASON 3 TRAILER & PROMO ANALYSIS

I JUST NOTICED SOMETHING!!

THAT IS VIOLET BRIDGERTON! IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FIRST "NON-INTRO" SHOT WITH FRANCESCA!

The first shot of any main character in the entire trailer is this one. Francesca is dancing with a suitor, the camera pushes forward and directs the eye right to Violet who is standing right in the middle, but with an unknown man in front of her.

Oh, I think there are going to be so many parallels between these two this season--especially in terms of romance. They have mostly been seen together or with "suitors" during all these promos and/or in direct comparison/association with one another.

MORE EVIDENCE:

SECOND SHOT of either of them: they are together--and are shown to be equals here, as compared to how Violet was when she presented Daphne or Eloise to the Queen:

Violet, with her other two daughters, was standing BEHIND them! (Also on their right side.) Now she's on the left, standing at Francesca's side--presenting them as equals.

Also, she isn't matching with Francesca like she was Eloise and Daphne--her outfit for this event changed slightly between the first two seasons (take note of the collar and crown), but has now changed dramatically. She at first presented herself as a fellow debutante (take note of the white dress and the gloves), but now is sporting a silver dress with long sleeves with clear grecian influence.

Violet has CHANGED, she isn't a background to or support for her daughter, she is her own person in front of the whole ton. She is also being "presented" in a way, but as this new self.

There is a new Viscountess, more of her children are married and leaving, and (as of Queen Charlotte we know that) she has had a lot of realizations about her marriage and sexuality. The world she knew as Viscountess and wife to Edmund is slowly changing, fading away to something new that she is beginning to embrace.

I think we will see her come more into her own, and not just as a mother or widow--this will be reflected in Francesca, who is going to struggle with finding a relationship that lives up to her mother & father's (and those of her siblings), especially watching her mother finally start to move on.

Right after this sequence is a sequence of Violet and her presumed new love interest, directly associating the two--they are also linked with the narration "what is the primary force that guides us along our paths?" A question I feel will be explored by the both of them.

It seems as if Violet is accepting this new love this season. Francesca, on the other hand, will struggle with romance this season. Every time we have seen her on her own, or with or having just spoken to suitors she seems unsure, worried.

Violet watches her sit at this ball (the Four Seasons one) and takes a breath and sighs in an interesting way--sort of knowingly but resigned(?).

It is also interesting to note within this dynamic that this is Francesca's first season, but not Violet's--as a mother or debutante.

TRAILER ANNOUNCEMENT:

Also, when looking at their appearances in the trailer announcement, it is interesting to see the difference in how they both were portrayed.

Violet is looking, then pulls back to look on in question, as if realizing something, but is curious for more. Francesca opens it and looks unsure again, twisting her mouth. I feel like this is reflective of how their seasons will be.

I just find the clear connection between their stories that the trailer in particular wants us to take note of to be very interesting. It is exciting to see how they will both grow/change. Especially being mother and daughter, which is a dynamic that has been explored to an extent in this show (thinking of Daphne and Violet in season 1, but even that didn't feel fleshed out), but not much. _______________

I haven't seen this brought up often. Maybe I'm just not looking in the right places, but... in the teaser for episodes 7 and 8, something doesn't make sense.

It's the Absolute Solver's laughter.

Spoiler, duh

Up until now, when we see Absolute Solver doing something, it sounded it out. For example:

When "N" attacked eldrich J, it said, "Claw swipe. Snarl." As it did those motions.

Then, "Climbing, criss cross apple sauce." As Cyn climbed up.

Even doing, in my opinion, one of the best lines: "Tantrum. Brain blast."

And of course the classic "Well-timed giggle."

All of these instances, the Absolute Solver accompanied its motions with dialogue as it did that movement.

So I'm confused as to why in the teaser (0:33 roughly) the Absolute Solver says: "Hahahaha, thanks for giving me the planet. Fricking idiot."

I actually wanna dissect that single line quite a lot.

First and foremost, why is it "Hahaha" instead of say "Evil laughter." I could only come up with a handful of ideas.

1. It's the Absolute Solver. Somehow it evolved to the point where it now can express emotions instead of just sounding it out.

2. It's the Absolute Solver. But it's possessing something (AHEM- Tessa- AHEM) that allows it to express emotions better than Cyn could allow it.

3. It's not the Absolute Solver. Instead, it's something or someone completely new/or perhaps someone we already know from the show but is only now revealing their identity.

4. It's just a trailer, you're looking in too deep. That could also be a possibility. Given that we see only black screen when the line happens, glitchproductions might have thought that it would be better for us to hear laughter instead of a bland line of just "insert evil laughter." Issue here for me is... I don't think that's the case cause Liam is very detailed. Every d*mn frame in this show is a foreshadowing. That has to apply to voice lines, too. (AHEM, looking at you "robo-satan, robo-Jesus, and robo-god.")

There is a similar sounding laughter at 1:01, just after N yells "V, come on!" But it's highly likely that was not Absolute Solver, and instead some other character we've already heard- be it V, Uzi, J, etc.

Then next question would be: who is the fricking idiot? Once again, I've got some (unhinged) ideas.

1. Uzi, would make sense. She's slowly succumbing to the Absolute Solver's control. If she makes one miss step, it's all over. So Absolute Solver could be directly speaking to Uzi in her mind, like a little shoulder robo-satan/demon.

2. N, could also be him. On the bad ending trend, Uzi could lose herself and Absolute Solver. And just like Tessa said, N would have to choose between one little drone and the universe. If N chooses Uzi, the Absolute Solver could easily speak through Uzi and mock him for giving up the planet and the universe.

3. Tessa, here I'll have to branch out. It could be the current Tessa. Her actions might lead to Copper-9's fall and the Absolute Solver will rub it in her face. OR, this could be another flashback. The Absolute Solver could be talking to a younger Tessa back at the mansion, as some past action made the Absolute Solver start taking control over universes and not just the Elliot mansion.

4. Nori. Omg, Ginkgo you're getting out of hand. Yup, welcome nothing new here. We did get this shot from glitchproductions right after we got the teaser.

Many are speculating that Yeva and Nori are not dead and could be coming back to help our gang out. Thaaaaat'll have to be a separate rant on my side. But with this image, I'm taking Nori into the group of possible "fricking idiot"s.

Given how confident Nori looks here, she must have had excellent control over the Absolute Solver before being completely possessed. Perhaps the screenshot of Yeva and Nori that we're given is a flashback scene. Nori might have done something that essentially doomed Copper-9 from the start.

Anyways, thanks for coming to my rant. Let me know if you guys have some other thoughts. Cause personally, I'm pretty stumped on the laughter part.

GHOSTS SEASON 4 TRAILER REVEAL

EDIT: after seeing the trailer that leaked today, I think I’ve definitelyyy misremembered things, either by missing key details or misremembering lines said. So please please take these with a grain of salt! I wrote this a full day after seeing the (very short) teaser so there will be stuff i missed!

As you all probably know by now, at the Edin Tv Festival today it was announced during a talk that Ghosts season 4 was being released in September, and the crowd was shown the exclusive first reveal of the trailer.

Luckily, I was in that crowd! So here’s some of the things I remember for it. spoilers (potentially) below!

none of these are in order btw, just shots that I remember happening :)

The trailer was over a rather chaotic piece of classical music - iirc it was In the Hall of the Mountain King

There is a shot of the plague ghosts running up a large staircase (presumably) in Button House. There is a substance splattered over the walls that looks like a very dark red - potentially blood?

Theres a shot of Mary turning around to face something off camera. The shot is highly saturated (but that may just be normal ghosts colour correcting) and she is standing in an empty grassy field

We see Annie (the ghost who had left before Alison arrived) leaning against a wooden panelled wall, looking worried (?) she is wearing her same maid outfit that we last saw her in

There is a shot of Thomas walking staggering down a small staircase in Button House. There is an effect which means he leaves a sort of “trail” behind him - like in movies when a character takes drugs ( i believe it’s called an echo motion effect). He looks very distressed/shocked and his voice is being played over him walking, also echoing. I can’t remember what he said, but I remember thinking “omg that’s from his death scene!” It’s been a while since i’ve seen the show but if I remembered the quote correctly Thomas may have been having a flashback? EDIT: Someone who was also there said that the voice was actually Alisons voice saying “kiss me thomas”, so maybe it wasn’t a flashback? All the shots were very quick so may memory may not be 100% accurate?

we see Robin outside holding a stone spear. Behind him there are two other cavemen, also holding stone age weapons. They are looking at something off camera - potentially they are going to hunt? We are definitely getting more backstory for Robin :)

halfway through the trailer we cut to Julian sitting on a chair next to his chess board. He says something along the lines of “are you done yet - what, there’s more?!”

we see a shot of Barclay - he’s looking cross and he says “not again!”

the captain uses his stick as a gun again and makes little ‘pew pew’ noises

i’ll add more if I remember anything else but that’s what stood out for me! Looks like we’re getting a very very interesting season!! My initial interpretation was that the ghosts seemed to be coming back to life but my friend (and indeed others at the event i talked to) all seemed to think that was hogwash so who knows!

eddie’s sitting on his bed , softly stringing the guitar while watching your every move. you’re standing at his dresser, brushing your hair and looking at yourself in the mirror. you turn around , feeling his eyes on you and you move to sit next to him on his bed. eddie visibly tenses as your skirt rides up a little from the movement. all the blood rushes from the rest of his body to the spot between his legs. he mumbles a quiet ‘fuck’ before moving slightly away from you, not wanting to make you uncomfortable. ‘c’mon eddie, get your head out the fucking gutter.’

you notice his sudden change in demeanour and how he’s visibly tense. “eddie, baby. are you okay?” you move to touch his thigh but he stops your hand before it reaches him. “mhh yes baby i’m fine, just perfect.” in actuality, he’s afraid that if you’re going to lay a finger on him, his patience will snap and he’ll take you right here on his bed with no care in the world who will hear you.

you have to admit, you’ve been trying to find a way to tell eddie you’re ready to have sex all week. you were worried that he would tell you that you shouldn’t feel pressured to do anything, and that he can wait for you. but you completely missed your shot. so now, your patience is running thin and you want to show him you’re not just an innocent little girl, and that you could have fun too.

eddie notices your silence , and takes your hands in his. “why’re you so quiet? what’s going on in that pretty little head of yours?”

you’ve had it, your patience snapped. your eyes darken as you mutter a “fuck it” and grab eddie by the back of his neck , meeting your lips together in a messy kiss.

he’s shocked at first, but as he realises what’s happening, he’s melting into the kiss and grabbing you by your hair. his hands move from your hair to your ass, giving it a light squeeze as you moan into his mouth.

“jesus baby, where is this coming from?” eddie breaks the kiss slightly, grabbing a breather before looking at your flushed cheeks. you laugh softly at him , tilting your head slightly, “i’ve been wanting to ask you all week if you’d fuck me, but i never got that far. so now i’m here, asking.” you whisper as your hands play with the loose curls that fall into his face.

he moves you to stand up from the bed, positioning you in the middle of his room. you’re looking at him, confused.

“eddie? what’s happening?” you ask him curiously as he’s standing infront of you. he smiles down at you, before kneeling infront of you. your heart is beating erratically at this point, and eddie pulls at the waistband of your skirt , pulling them down your legs.

My immediate I-just-finished-watching-Loki-episode-4 reaction post

There be spoilers ahead.  Oh damn there be spoilers!

Okay.  Firstly, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

Secondly, that was awesome!

Thirdly, so many things!  In no particular order…

Did they just create the Kang problem?  By spagettifying Timely near the Loom did they just somehow seed the multiverse with Kang variants who know more than they should?

“I don’t know”. Agh!  What does this mean! Why is this important to Loki?  What has he just realised? “What’d we do wrong?” “I don’t know”.

The time loop scene was just beautiful! I loved how they cut to Loki from the past and it took me a couple of seconds to realise that wasn’t our present Loki. (Not that I’m complaining, I could happily watch him running desperately through the TVA for a long time lol.) I’d had a feeling the show was going to tie back to the time slipping thing more strongly in this episode so had just rewatched episode 1, for which I am very glad. Made following things a little easier. But it was also great to be able to more closely compare the scene to the on in my memory from ep 1.  I totally thought it was going to be Loki on the phone too though, so that it was OB was almost a disappointment lol!  I’d thought perhaps it was going to be a future version of Loki making the call at that time to bring his past self to that location to be pruned. But unless things are even more convoluted than they appear it seems it wasn’t a call from anyone with that purpose in mind.

The music that starts playing as present Loki realises what’s going on and makes the decision to prune his past self – is that the beginnings of a heroic theme for him!?  Eeeee!  (I feel like it’s going to be my deathbed wish to see Loki straight up play the hero in something, lol!)  Even if not, the music here was great!  From tense and creepy to determined and uplifting!  I didn’t notice it on first viewing, it was just there unconsciously guiding how I felt, but clearly being very effective!

So. That ending eh? OMG! I was NOT expecting that!!!

I was genuinely shocked at the spaghettification.  And then how quickly the Loom went critical and that they actually showed us how everyone handled their last moments.  Mobius disbelieving, Sylvie and OB quietly resigned, B-15 terrified, and Loki, with tears in his eyes, facing death head on.  Lmao.O does that count as another death for Loki? *cackles madly* Also, so THAT’S what that shot from the trailer was from.  No wonder he looked so… much.

And then OMG!  The flickering lights! That was so well done!  Now you’re gonna laugh, but my TV and living room lights regularly flicker and the TV turns off. Something about the wifi and picking up signals from phones and alarms.  For instance it always turns off at 9pm when my alarm goes off.  So you can imagine why it took me watching the final scene three times before I was convinced it wasn’t a technical glitch at my end.  LOL! 

I love how it’s tied in with the flickering of the lights in the TVA itself. And I love how it works as a symbol for a glitch in time itself – which is what I assume these events have caused.  And the music over the end credits – good lord I still have shills! It’s all so very wrong! Like reality is disintegrating. Like a Dali painting. It’s sooo uncomfortable!  And so very, very, well done!  Such a fantastic blend of the show with reality!  Agh! I love it!  I also love that this is something new, something I’ve never experienced in film or TV before and it’s going to stick with me for life.

So did Timely sabotage things, or do something other than what OB was expecting? Or was he just bluffing with Renslayer? Did he volunteer for the reasons he said, or was he planning something? I want to give him the benefit of the doubt, but I’m just… not… sure.  Did he intend for that to happen to him?  Or did he miscalculate? Or was everything played straight?

I’m sympathetic towards Timely.  The trouble is we haven’t seen him for long enough to really know who he is. In the brief time we’ve been shown conflicting things – he’s a confidence trickster, but he seems harmless enough in the scheme of things. His wonder at all the things in the TVA (including the hot chocolate machine) are very endearing.  He seems genuinely scared of… well… pretty much everyone at some point (except OB), and the way Loki and Mobius show him trust and are kind to him is sweet. But then he hadn’t really been around the TVA long enough for us to see what sort of schemes he could think of to work to his advantage, so perhaps it’s just a matter of time.

So where to from here?  I can see why they showed the press up until this point, and I can see why some of the reviews talked about how episode 4 turned things on it’s head. 

I’m going to assume that episodes 5 and 6 are about Loki working out how to fix things. Or maybe not quite fix, but at least not completely destroy. I feel like things at the TVA won’t be the same by the end of the season.

Something makes it so that Loki starts timeslipping again, and into the branched timelines too.  Or is it perhaps just along his own timeline?? We’ve heard him asking how they could do things differently, so I assume that’s what he’ll be trying.  Maybe many different attempts.  Maybe all of those in the room are now unstably jumping about within their own timelines.  I don’t know, but there certainly look to be lots of super cool possibilities!  I half expect the start of the next episode is Loki opening his eyes to find himself in another place/time, and then working out wtf is happening. 

Also, we’ve been working on the premise that Timely is a variant, but what if he actually is He Who Remains? What if HWR is in a permanent time loop? (That is of course assuming that Timely somehow didn’t actually die. Or at least not permanently.)

I think I might have to stop thinking about it there or else I might go mad. *cackles*

Some other things:

OB learning everything from Timely!!!  OMG!  I didn’t expect that but I love it.  That was never fully explained, was it?  Does someone take Timely’s TVA book waaay back into the past? They were as cute as imagined in their meeting.  Part of me is still sad they never signed each other’s copy of the TVA book.  But if Timely’s book goes back to OB then it couldn’t be signed by OB I suppose.

Renslayer and Miss Minutes going outright evil.  Well at least I know what side of things she’s on now, I guess. I’m glad they never showed us the results of the machine, because the expressions of those watching was terrifying enough.

Dox defending B-15’s integrity was great. I should have known she wouldn’t live after that.

Nice to have the memory erasing confirmed.

Interesting convo between Sylvie and Mobius. I thought that was interesting and reflected their experiences and positions well.  I really feel for Mobius. I think I’d probably react similarly to him and just not want to know for fear of it being better than the life I knew.  So I have a lot of sympathy for him, but I can totally see Sylvie’s point.  But sometimes you have to narrow your scope of caring to survive.

Loki and Sylvie’s conversation in the Automat may actually be my favourite interaction between them so far.  Loki seemed to be more confident in himself.  He wasn’t trying to please her or desperate for her to do/not do something. It seemed a more mature conversation where he recognised there was no right answer, and was prepared to walk away rather than try to convince her, and equally, she didn’t just push him away or run herself. I might actually be starting to buy the fact that these tow have a history of some sort.

The fact that OB can reset the TVA’s system and enable magic to be used within the TVA – and Loki and Sylvie’s shouted response – Brilliant!!!  I feel like that’s going to be significant later on.  I mean it did allow Sylvie to enchant X-5, so maybe that’s the payoff already, but maybe it also allows Loki (or Sylvie) to do something bigger in that brief window if he’s jumping through time again. I wonder f also it’ll turn out that some other people in the TVA will turn out to be magic users? (I’m assuming not Mobius because of the 90’s and jetski thing, but maybe?)

So I had really quite low expectations for this season.  As I’ve said before I didn’t like several fundamental things about season 1, but we’re 4 episodes in and I am *almost* confident enough to say that most of those are absent from season 2. Or at least so far.  They key thing being Loki’s characterisation – it’s still not entirely consistent with OG Loki, but it’s no longer excruciating to watch him clown about. There are still a few moments this season that have been beyond my comfort zone, but 90% of the time he’s been more assured and has been treated seriously by the show.  He’s also been the driver of events and the eyes through which we see things more than in the first season. And I am so thankful for this.

The tone of this episode is more aligned with episode 1, but that makes sense because it’s both more similar in topic and by the same directing team.  And given Episode 1 was my favourite before this, I’m more than happy!

There’s still a couple of episodes to go, but 4 episodes in and I’ve gone from, ‘yeah, I’ll watch it but only out of curiosity and some weird lingering sense of obligation because I’m a Loki fan’, to ‘this is actually potentially great and I can’t wait to see what happens next’.  Which has been a bit of a shock.  Lol!  I’ve been a Loki fan for too long to have the confidence to call it yet, but I’m leaning more towards the optimistic end of ‘cautiously optimistic’.

• I’m loving all the content of Yasmin Finney’s Rose!!!! Her as the first character featured was an excellent choice.

• DONNA DONNA DONNA DONNA!!!! The queen is back.

• “Sometime I think something’s missing. Like I had something lovely, and it’s gone” help I’m in all my Doctor Donna feels right now and thAT HUG ISNT HELPING.

• The cinematography is *chef’s kiss*.

• (Did Neil Patrick Harris really have to use that offensive accent though..?)

• BEEP THE MEEP IS ACTUALLY ON TV IM DECEASED.

• “Skinny man!” “He’s not there, you can’t see him!” had me on the floor!!!!

What better way to mark sixteen years since we met Donna?

I just gotta say that I LOVEEEEE how you draw Mario and Luigi!!!! And how you characterize them!!! like omg imma have to study your art for when I try to figure out how I want to draw the bros (not to replicate it just to be clear!!! just take inspiration bc it’s so good!) did drawing them come easy to you or was there a learning curve?

AHHHH thank you so much, that's so sweet of you!! I've never had someone want to study my art before, so this is very exciting for me :D

To answer your question, when I first started drawing the bros, the movie hadn't come out yet. So I could only rely on the trailers for references. After the movie was released, the bros became much easier to draw. But that was after much trial and error.

Iluumination Mario and Luigi are different from their game counterparts. The game versions are much more bouncy and cartoony, like they were in the Super Mario Bros Super Show. Movie Bros designs are smoothed down and realistic-ish. Their faces aren't as cartoony and are more akin to the Illumination human style, with lots of little details and textures.

So keeping to the Movie style and my own personal art style ( which is a mix of Genndy Tartakovsky, Cartoon Saloon, and too many others to list haha) was a bit of a challenge. But I had a few tools to help me.

The first was Animation Screencaps , a website that takes high quality screenshots of almost every single animated and stop motion movie you can think of. I highly recommend you check them out if you want to study a movie's style, composition, color theory, or everything else that goes into making art.

The second tool that helped me was tracing. and before you attack me with a "tracing is cheating" speech that I've heard way too many times, let me explain. If I was trying to draw Mario from a certain angle, I would having trouble keeping the head shape consistent. I'd make it too long or not long enough. I would create a new canvas, get the screen shot I was referencing, and would trace over the head multiple times. This would help my brain to remember how the shape of the head is supposed to be. Then I would go back to my original canvas and draw the head again, and it would look how I wanted it to.

Tracing isn't bad. It's an effective tool for artists to use to learn. It's only bad when you trace an image and post it, claiming that it's yours.

So yeah, I hope that this helps and I with you the best in your Mario drawing adventure :)

Daryl's Button and Beth's Knife

You know I totally want to read into this. First of all the foggy image I want to say could easily be anyone, but then the fog parts and we get a clearer look and know that it is Isabel. Maybe meaning a mysterious female figure is on the horizon.

Isabel is wearing a head covering, it could easily be mistaken for the hood of a cloak/poncho. Beth had a red cloak/poncho and her prison cell. The image that I'm really happy/excited about is that white button on Daryl's shirt. The shirt that has the highlighted button is reminiscent of the one that Daryl wear in Alone. There's no way of missing that button. And of course I'm relating that white button to Beth's heart necklace. Why would they want to emphasize a button?

I had the same exact thoughts. The fact that they shroud her in fog, and they do the same to Laurent, both times wearing hooded garments, reminded me of how they used to do similar stuff to Leah.

When I was wondering if Beth possibly could be Leah, a big part of that was because of how often they would shroud or obscure her face. When she takes off her mask and is wearing that fade scarf, and we see her for the first time with her blond ponytail, she looks so much like Beth my heart practically stopped.

Then, when Daryl is dragged off to Meridian, we see her face obscured through the burlap sack from his pov. We will later see her multiple times half-shrouded in darkness, and also from a distance so that all you can see is her small stature and her blond ponytail.

I thought, gee, if they wanted to go back and reshoot these shots with Emily Kinney to communicate Daryl’s psychosis, they 100% could, and it would have a massive effect. It’s around when I thought they might have changed Leah’s hair to run cover for Emily Kinney, should she be spotted filming. Everyone would just assume it’s Lynn Collins. I think something similar is going on here for sure.

Also I am also wondering why they are zooming in on Daryl’s clothes. I agree it does look a little like the light brown plaid he wears in Alone. That button we also noticed as looking like a necklace in the trailer. This is a little strange to me. I don’t really have a read on it yet.

Also I am also super excited. I keep thinking about it. Like it’s finally sinking in the finally we get a show that’s just totally about Daryl, and everything in it will pertain to DARYL. Not Rick, not Michonne. Just very excited.

You expressed my feelings so well. It'll be Daryl's story and yes, there will be a bigger plot but it's going to lead to something... Laurent story will to a large degree will conclude by the end of s1, so what's the plot for s2, other than Carol and Daryl honeymooning I mean.

I think I read a while back that the actress that plays Isabella was seen on set maybe the first or second episode, but no mention after that. According to the carylers Carol will be seen in s1e6. We saw pictures of Norman and Melissa with Daryl holding a map. Why are they still in Paris? What is it that they're looking for now?

I also have taken note that in all the previews when they show all these beautiful landmarks and locations we still have not seen any hint of the Louvre Museum and we know we will see it this season. Many questions, many possibilities.

Oh, also for the record, omg I had not even thought of Beth’s necklace. How many times have I drawn Beth in Still/Alone, and yet I forgot about the little button! But it’s a really good theory, because why on earth are they showing us this button? It’s the one thing that stands out in the scene. The rest is all black. Just a black scarf, black jacket. These things are nondescript like blank canvases. I’m sorry I’m about to go on a minor rabbit hole right now. Please ignore me until you are free lol

Okay, so I went back to the trailer, to see the deal with the button in that one scene where he’s getting hauled off to jail or whatever, toward the end. But I just ended up rewatching the whole thing. Note that we don’t see it all the time. It is hidden at first. We only start to see it as the trailer wears on and his clothes become more disheveled. It seems to be attached to an undershirt, which only peaks out after he’s been roughed up. You can see it in the shot of him being hauled off, because he’s clearly been stripped of his jacket, bag, and weapons, which all cover him up and weigh him down.

This button thing made me think of a couple things. First, about trophies, emblems, talismans, whatever you want to call them. Daryl is a collector. Sort of like Beth, he uses his body to display important bits of inventory. Some of it seems for like, meta-analytical purposes. Like, it’s symbolic, for the audience. But it’s well-done, because it also seems to fit his character.

Not all characters are like this. It’s rare. Some characters will get one or two things, like Rick with the red machete, and many characters wear interesting necklaces. But for Daryl, it’s more than that. There are really conspicuous things, like the walker ears in Chupacabra. These are trophies, and they’re remarked upon in the dialogue of the show. But Glenn points out that it’s too conspicuous for Hershel, so Daryl stops with all that.

There’s other stuff that’s more subtle, though. The vest, with the angel wings, which change over time and fall apart, and are eventually repaired by Judith. The blue angel wing is particularly meaningful, and is like an emblem, of his family. The angel wings are a good example of a meta symbol. It means something to Daryl, but it also means something to us and in terms of his characterization in the story.

Daryl also carries Beth’s knife for a long time. He wears the red rag in his back pocket. He wears the bandana, too. He hangs the bandana in his back pocket. Daryl’s arrows also tell a story, by changing color. In his apartment, too, particularly in Diverged, we see that he has kept all sorts of things from his life, and that, though he is a simple man, he appreciates adornment.

Norman has reassured fans that Daryl still has Beth’s knife, too. It’s basically like he’s wearing around his whole life all at once, like a turtle carrying its home on its back.

It’s actually a really good, subtle mode of characterization for Daryl, who grew up very poor, with nothing. It makes sense he’d be a bit of a hoarder. Like a racoon, in a way. Collecting shiny things. But also, like I said, a turtle. He’s lost too much, and so he hangs on to whatever he has left, and he displays it in little ways.

This idea, of hanging onto little things has recently resurfaced with maggie in Dead City. Maggie’s inventory is very key in Dead City, in ways it hasn’t really been before. She’s got Glenn’s ring on her razor necklace. She’s got her little box of photographs and a sketch. The writers are reminding us about how we hang onto our past.

And with Maggie, she basically has weaponized every last inch of her inventory in a protective manner. She is also like a turtle, but her shell, we can think of as armor, not as much a home. She’s always protecting herself, to the detriment of her relationships and all those who love her.

Ginny also has her stuffed dinosaur. Negan is now covered in strange tattoos. The different ways that characters hang onto the people and lives they’ve lost is very interesting. It even calls back to Rick’s boots on the boat, the phone with the drawings of Judith and Michonne. It’s by discovering his old things that Michonne learns Rick might actually still be alive.

It’s also interesting because it’s so similar to Beth, who keeps repurposing her necklace throughout seasons 2-4. It breaks like multiple times and she keeps fixing it. And it also reminds me of her prison cell, which is adorned with a ton of stuff. She hoards, too, but for different reasons than Daryl.

Okay, now, Beth’s knife. I want to point out first that in the trailer, Daryl gives Laurent his knife, similar to how he gives Beth his knife in season 4. Only, with Beth, that moment is off-screen. So only those paying close attention will notice this. The knife he gives Laurent actually really looks distinctly like Carol’s, with the finger holes. But it’s not Carol’s knife. Carol’s knife is like a modern combat knife you’d see a soldier carrying. Daryl’s knife is much simpler and looks almost medieval.

At first, I was concerned because I did NOT want him to be carrying Carol’s knife lol. Of course, it’s not. I think they want us to think about this, too. The trading of knives comes back again and again.

Anyway, back to Beth’s knife, which we know that Daryl has, because Norman told us. How did Daryl get Beth’s knife? Well, Carol gave it to him. But how did Carol get Beth’s knife? That we don’t know. There is a bag of stuff that one of the cops is carrying when the trade goes down at Grady. I know it’s been speculated that maybe Beth’s stuff was in there.

I’m not sure it really matters right now. What matters is that Carol had the knife, which means they DID have Beth’s stuff, somehow, and Daryl loves stuff.

So I went back to Coda, as usual when things get weird. I specifically wanted to see whether Beth is wearing her necklace during the exchange. I couldn’t remember. She is NOT shown wearing the necklace, which means it is probably with the rest of her stuff, ie: the knife.

All of this is a preamble toward the thesis that this button could be Beth’s button, which Daryl repurposed and sewed to an undershirt, which he wears all the time. The button would be close to his heart. It would not be recognizable to anyone but him, and nobody would ask him about it, which is important, since he clearly doesn’t want to talk about it. I wonder if they will do many little things like this as the series goes on, to remind us of Beth?

I’m not quite done lol. One more branch to this rabbit hole. This made me think about Davon. Like Coda, Davon seems to be an important keystone episode that we’re coming back to again and again.

In DD, we know that Daryl will be naked in a bathtub, stripped of all his emblems and all his stuff. Instead, all he has are physical scars, which he can’t escape or shed no matter what he does. It seems like he is uncomfortable in the bathtub, considering what we’ve heard about him grabbing Isabelle’s hand sharply. I think it’s probably at least in part because he’s been stripped of his stuff.

The only other time we’ve seen Daryl with his shirt off, other than when he is quickly changing, is in the episode “Open Your Eyes,” when he literally just takes off his shirt and hangs out with Dog on the couch. It feels like a random scene to just show of Norman’s chest lol.

But I think it means that, with Dog, Daryl can just be who he is without worrying about who he was. He doesn’t have to explain. Dog is, ofc, a Sirius symbol and a symbol of Beth, calling back to Alone.

Anyway, in Davon, Davon is stripped of his boots when they have to take his leg. When he wakes up, he freaks out, because his boots are missing, and they hold all he has left of his loved ones, his emblems. In the episode Davon, Davon seems to fall for a French woman named Nora.

They go through a lot of little Bethyl motions, like with the strawberry and the piano. This woman also has a son, who has gone missing, and who Davon rescues. In the end, however, the woman cannot see past her own teachings at this commune. She forsakes Davon and believes the lies told about him. This causes Davon to have a major coming-home moment, realizing that whatever they had, it wasn’t real.

I think that while Isabelle will not forsake Daryl, they are definitely trying to make the audience think that Daryl is going to have a love story with Isabelle. The bath, the soft, sweet conversations. She is gentle and delicate in ways that Leah was rough and harsh. We want these things for Daryl, so it would be easy to root for this, if you’re not shipping him with someone else.

This is, ofc, why the Carylers are super pissed lol. But in Davon, which is clearly some sort of blueprint for DD, with even the letter “D” being a parallel at work (Daryl/Davon), even if Davon is taken with the French woman for a while, she remains loyal to her “cult” in the end. Even after he saves her son, she won’t leave her family for him.

I don’t think that Daryl is going to have a romance with Isabelle, but we may think he’s going to for a time, even if only during the promo season. We might see Isabelle tain feelings for him, but ultimately, she won’t leave her convent, her sisters, or her Abbey.

That means that she is, ofc, not Daryl’s “happy ending.” I know we know this, but there’s nothing more fun that taking things apart and actually communicating what we know to be true with evidence from the show.

I just wanted to send you the button shot from when the guys are carrying him away.

I obviously lightened it. What I also want to say is look at how his head is positioned this gives me major throwback feelings from episode Them of when it started to rain and he closes his eyes and tilts his head up to the sky.

The other thing I noticed when with the shot from Twitter is how the button is showing so prominently, he's also wearing a string tie around his neck which to me screams the black cord of Beth's necklace.

I think it's a matter of symbolism that they want us to connect to Beth. I don't think it needs to be her actual button. I would love if he wore or had her actual heart necklace, but the button I think is a focus for people like us who will notice and geek out, but most of the audience will never even notice it. That's why I think it's just a little nod letting us know they want us to keep the faith.

I just can't get over how her backpack straps are so reminiscent of Daryl's suspenders. And then they're both have on the neutral tannish shirt underneath. I've heard a rumor that there are people that have not watched Still and Alone a million times like we have and would never connected these things. That's hard for me to believe, haha.

my first draft of this post had me sounding like an utter maniac, so this is take two, where i’m going to attempt to not sound as absolutely insane as i am actually on the inside. so the as dusk falls promo trailer took over my life a few weeks back and i managed to stop myself from obsessively (and i mean obsessively) rewatching it for a while, but then i rewatched it twice in the last few minutes and barely resisted the urge to start open-mouth sobbing. because it makes me emotional! and so as not to repeat the mistakes of my last draft i will end that line of thought right here.

there are a lot of things that make me scream cry throw up etc about this trailer, but i am going to talk specifically in this post about the thing that i am MOST composed about and LEAST prone to start vomiting about. which is jim.

it feels wrong to start out with this post, since i haven’t actually talked yet about how masterfully composed this trailer actually is. but tl;dr: everything about this promo is fucking phenomenal and it makes me violently ill (mentally physically spiritually etc). but the one thing that’s really relevant about the composition of the trailer here is the shots they chose for it. and again there’s a lot to say here, but let me just put it this way:

the promo trailer is for whatever game was being advertised in this poster. the only character on this poster that is not featured prominently in the trailer is joyce, and i can kind of get why that is. but it’s important and striking to me that bear and jim are neither on this poster nor are they ANYWHERE to be seen in this trailer. (sidenote & tangent i’m so relieved that bear is not present in any promo materials that i know of, since his inclusion in the story is one that i think was always meant to be shocking and jarring, and having bear in the promo stuff would sort of cheapen that impact. people should not be going into this game going omg sam douglas!! they should be entering this game invested in the story and the characters and then sam douglas jumpscare like a freight train) this is especially true for jim, since there are a lot of scenes in the promo where we know that he’s supposed to be there, but he’s purposely obscured from us. when zoe’s voiceover says “we were on our way to start a new life”, it shows her and her parents in the car, with no indication that there is a whole ass joe biden behind vince.

then, in the trailer, when the family’s approaching the motel, we get this shot:

vs. in the game, where that shot is actually...

... cutely including jim’s ass. and then here, we get:

where the trailer frames it like vince is alone, when in reality, dale’s already knocked jim to the floor. in the scenes where we see vince’s family, it’s always heavily focusing on vince, michelle, and zoe, who seem to be the three main characters of the walker family. (similarly, and this is why i wanted to make the main characters post before this one, but we live and we learn, the holt boys are shown in the promo trailer to be the three main characters of the holt family.)

so jim is just like casually missing. he’s just not there. and that is intentional, imo. because i remember the heart attack this man gave me when vince and zoe are going back to the car and we just see THIS:

jim FUCKING jumpscare. now okay, let me backtrack a little because this is IMPORTANT. when i was first obsessively watching this trailer, obviously the first thing i noticed was this little ditty, set to jay’s voiceover of “it was a long-forgotten secret buried in the dark”:

now obviously my first reaction is (beyonce meme) JIM1?!?!?!??!?!?! because i’ve already played this game and i know that jim admits to being the reason why the desert dream happens. jim clearly has a history with the desert dream and with two rock in general: paul recognizes him right off the bat and slowly remembers him as being a “travelling salesman” that went to sharon’s bar fifteen to twenty years ago. jim also, when he hears jay say that his mother is coming inside, immediately reaches for a cap to obscure his face. if the player chooses to send jim out instead of zoe, jim also stumbles to the ambulance specifically because he doesn’t want dante to see him. and when jim is concussed, if you ask him where he is, he calls the desert dream by its former name. so it’s made really clear that jim’s been to two rock before and that he’s interacted with these characters before. and he’s clearly afraid of being recognized by these people, always dodging questions about him looking familiar and doing everything in his power not to interact with key players like sharon and dante.

and something i have always noticed about jim is that whenever he’s outside, the shots he has usually include the water tower. and i noticed this because... well <3 the sniper that shoots at dale is on the water tower. so it was interesting and important to me, so seeing it in the background of, like, every jim shot was a little interesting. they are not really subtle with it! like, we see it in a bunch of different places for jim. we obviously see it in the jim jumpscare, and then we see it again when he’s approaching the desert dream:

and then if you decide to go talk to jim instead of michelle, you get this shot right after vince and jim walk out of the motel room:

and i can’t find a playthrough on youtube where someone lets jim go, but i have a feeling they include a shot of the water tower there too. so when im seeing that person digging something and they’re kind of tall and lanky and the water tower is in the background, i am like. that has to be jim walker right. like it has to be. but then im looking at this picture and i’m like ... no wait that TREE. i recognize that TREE too. and what do you know! right after zoe finishes her opening monologue in book one, what is the FIRST shot we get?

TREE.

WATER TOWER.

i’m like oh my GOD. the rest stop. the FUCKING rest stop on route 66 that weird ass abandoned little rest stop.

in the GROUND?!?!?!? under a TRE???e?!?

like my personal theory is that jim killed someone and he is digging a grave in the trailer. like he does offhandedly mention to zoe that he had a car he really loved and he just got rid of it one day, and as dusk falls experts (aka bluffmotel dot tumblr dot com) have theorized like okay maybe he moved the body in it so he had to scrap it. and it would make sense since it parallels jim to bear, since bear um ... killed someone! and then buried him alive! or at least tried to. like idk it says something TO ME that the only two characters who must die in every playthrough of as dusk falls are dale and jim, and both of them are heavily defined by the water tower. IDK! i think jim killed someone. and that something related to them is buried under the tree in two rock by the rest stop. and idk who the stalker is. maybe it’s eddie.

You know, my day started really shitty and the weather is all gloomy, so I put all my hopes on a JD show in GMMTV p2. I was cautiously optimistic. So as soon as I got home, I checked Twitter and the first post I saw was Joong and Dunk kissing next a car. And I was like OMG!!!!! So I watched the trailer, and I actually squealed, because the concept is amazing and they are with FirstKhao (who GMMTV loves), so the script will also be great, and I feel like my whole day is made. (I actually had a stray thought about this leading up to part2, like if JD and FK get a series together, JD will finally be in a quality production. Maybe I should invest in lottery tickets 😂). I finally completely understood the etymology of the word 'fan', because I'm the "unfollow me right now" meme. I'm an adult with an actual job and I still squealed and flailed like Ongsa because JoongDunk finally get a chance to shine.

But, that's not everything. Because then I logged into Tumblr and I saw that you posted an essay about Dunk to my ask from last week, and now I'm close to tears with how overjoyed I am. Thank you very much for taking the time and writing this manifesto that I'll use as a guide to better understand performances in the future. I have a question about our dear Y/N in the eddie series! is she gonna be interested in DnD and hellfire or is she too cool for that? I can imagine her being mesmerised by the dice very early after escaping, rolling a 7 and just pointing to herself like “me :)”

omg yes! after eddie taught her some of the basics when she was with him for that one week, she was really hooked!

- i just love the thought of sev playing around with one of the die in eddie’s trailer while he’s getting the rest of the game set up, and when he goes to sit back down and show her how to play the game, everytime he rolls it lands on a seven and he’s just like “weird 🤨” and after the like 10th time it happens he just looks over the die and realizes that every side says 7 because she changed it with her powers 😭

- of course he didn’t realize this because it was a new die he’d never used before and just assumed it was an error in the making of it 😐 so he just gave it to you because-

“heh, well that’s a funny coincidence!” 🧍🏾‍♀️

- i like to throw in little hints of how much eddie influenced her into the person she became, as she grew up.

such as her style, the music she listens to, her playing the guitar, and dnd!

- but to further answer your question, she didn’t play that much after leaving him.

- she would mostly just sit on the side and watch as the other boys played (like at the end of season 1), and sometimes when the boys were really into it, she would be sneaky and use her powers to keep making them roll sevens 😭

- they caught on pretty fast though 🫤 so she just stuck to making mike roll numbers that would badly affect his character, when she was feeling petty.

- in my season 3 part 2 chapter, you’ll see her with will, when he keeps trying to get the boys to play. spoiler: at one point her and will just ditch the group and play a one-shot.

- in regards to the hellfire club, she would be apart of it! but sometimes, like lucas, she probably wouldn’t be able to make it due to her other extracurriculars

- but after seeing eddie’s disappointment of her not being anle to make it, she would definitely go to her coaches sometimes like-

“coach, i don’t know what’s going on with me! i was feeling fine earlier and now my nose won’t stop bleeding!”

- of course she just made her nose bleed and her forehead hot to the touch, so that they would think she was sick and send her home.

- when in reality as soon as she was out of sight, she’d just make her way to the drama room like-

“hey guys, i made my coaches think i was sick! can i still join today’s campaign?”

- steve scolds her the whole car ride home for lying, after picking her up that night because he got a call while at work saying that-

“y/n had excessive nosebleeds and her forehead and neck were burning up! she had a temp of 103.2!” the nurse rambled worriedly.

- but that doesn’t stop her from doing it in the future 😭
