(I actually think TTPD is full of so many parallels to older work that I could like, quote the entire album.)

Jokes aside, I’d love to read what parallels you found with her older work

OK well now that you’ve put me on the spot, I can’t actually think of them that freely 😂

This isn’t going to be exhaustive, nor particularly accurate I guess, but maybe more like… similarities? (Man, I’m gonna fumble the ball here.)

This is kind of out of left field, but from the very first listen, for instance, But Daddy I Love Him reminded me of Love Story. I joked on release night that But Daddy was just the unfiltered version of Love Story; the girl is the Scarlet Letter because she’s the loud, mouthy heathen who’s been caught with her dress unbuttoned iykwim. The girl in LS feels misunderstood, is infatuated with this boy, begs to run away with him away from the prying eyes and judgment… Which is exactly what the narrator in BDILH feels too, except more explicitly. The girl in LS is demure and mindful, the one in BDILH gives zero fucks. Which is reflective of Taylor’s own evolution in her relationship to her public image, I feel: she strove to be a perfect role model never putting a foot wrong in her younger days, but the whole point of TTPD is that she is done listening to anyone else’s opinions on how she lives her life. In LS, the boy talks to her dad and pulls out a ring, and in BDILH, no one else is invited to that wedding after everything she’s learned. For all we’ve talked about how one of the major themes of TTPD is about reclaiming her youth, I think it’s kind of genius that BDILH, intentionally or not, plays on the song that launched her megastardom as a teenager and gives it a grown-up bite.

This is maybe less parallels and more just a continuation of a story, but I think one of the obvious ones is You’re Losing Me and So Long, London. One of the immediate callbacks is the thread from “I can’t find a pulse, my heart won’t start anymore” to “I stopped CPR, after all it’s no use.” YLM comes at a crisis point, the make or break moment of the relationship, and SLL is the aftermath reflecting on that. Her stopping the CPR after that moment in YLM is what leads to the dissolution of the relationship and the reflection in SLL.

The rest of the two songs mirror each other so painfully well. “Do I throw out everything we built or keep it?” To “You say I abandoned the ship, but I was going down with it.” “How can you say that you love someone you can't tell is dying?” To “You swore that you loved me, but where were the clues?” “I know my pain is such an imposition” to “Just how low did you think I'd go before I'd self-implode?” “How long could we be a sad song 'til we were too far gone to bring back to life?” To “So how much sad did you think I had, did you think I had in me? How much tragedy?” “I wouldn’t marry me either” to “I died on the altar waiting for the proof.”

And I think the one that really brings it full circle is the evolution from “My face was gray, but you wouldn't admit that we were sick,” to “And I'm just getting color back into my face, I'm just mad as hell cause I loved this place.” In YLM she’s dying a slow death at her partner’s ignorance (unintentional or willful) of the crisis she’s in, and in SLL, the decision to leave has brought her back to life, even if she mourns everything she had to give up to get there. To go from sitting in the room that was once lit with what they loved to sitting in the dark mulling this life-changing decision, to reflecting on the moment of “warm sun” in her life that this relationship will ultimately end up being in her memories (but just that: a memory, not a life) is really nuanced, and really shows how it’s the end of a chapter but not the end of the book.

Another parallel that is so powerful is between The Manuscript and, among others, All Too Well, but really so much of her work from her younger days, as well as the ATW music video. This is maybe cheating because it’s not like a 1:1 parallel, but just the way that The Manuscript reframes so much of her older work and experiences is illuminating. The way in ATW the early memories are wistful, feel like home, etc., and you can feel the warmth radiate through the music and the lyrics, but the slightly unsettling melody of The Manuscript highlights the unease in which that situation actually occurred. To go from sweet disposition and wide-eyed gazes heading out of town to be together, to realizing a decade later that that might have been less romance and more manipulation? What a gut punch.

Similarly, when you think about “nights when you made me your own” in the context of “He said that if the sex was half as good as the conversation was, soon they'd be pushin' strollers,” you really feel how her youthful naivety about their relationship was heavily influenced by the way this person laid it on thick. Like, all these years later, she wasn’t wrong to feel like this thing was serious, or for being so bewildered when it ended. It’s just that what she failed to realize at the time is that what she took as a promise, he intended as foreplay. Then the way the bridge of The Manuscript reveals what is presumably the shooting of the ATW video, where she comes to the realization of just what she went through and how she’s been able to use it to make her art and heal? That’s beautiful.

There are soooooooooo many more, but I’d be here all day, and similarly, I can’t think of any off the top of my head.

Character ask: Kermit the Frog

Favorite thing about them: How kind, friendly, and idealistic he is, and how he usually serves as the stable "eye of the hurricane" among the craziness of the Muppets. Yet at the same time, how relatably (and humorously) stressed and angry he becomes when his patience is tested too far. Then there's his dry humor and sarcasm (which was more pronounced in the Tales from Muppetland and early Muppet Show era than in more recent years – in those days he could be a real smart aleck!), and his poetic dreamer quality, which probably stands out the most in his signature song, "Rainbow Connection." Because he's such a famous pop culture icon, it's easy to forget just how three-dimensional and (for want to a better word) human he is as a character, but he really is.

Least favorite thing about them: He can sometimes be a little mean when he loses his temper.

Three things I have in common with them:

*I love music and performing.

*Like both Kermit and @ariel-seagull-wings, I want to make people happy through the arts.

*I can be quiet and thoughtful sometimes, fun-loving and exuberant at other times.

Three things I don't have in common with them:

*I couldn't handle the stress of being the Muppets' leader.

*I don't have any desire to date a pig.

*I'm not green.

Random headcanon: The original script for 1969's Hey, Cinderella! called for the Fairy Godmother to turn him into a coachman. But he had too much pride in his frog heritage to want such a thing – and besides, none of the human actors who auditioned for the part of Coachman-Kermit could imitate his voice well enough – so the script was changed to have him refuse to be turned human and drive the coach as a frog.

Unpopular opinion: I'm not particularly invested in shipping him with Miss Piggy. Their having broken up (again) in the 2015 ABC series doesn't outrage me, and to be honest, I wouldn't have minded if they had never "officially" gotten together at all, but had kept their old Muppet Show dynamic of Piggy pursuing Kermit unrequitedly. (Although a part of me is glad they moved past that, because dragging it out for decades might have made Piggy seem pathetic.) Maybe it's because I'm not a fan of "on-and-off" pairings, maybe it's because of Piggy's tendency to be violent when Kermit offends her, or maybe it's just because my introduction to the Muppets was Muppet Babies, which solidified "Kermit and Piggy are friends and Piggy just wishes they were a couple" as their default relationship in my mind. But while they've had nice romantic moments over the years, I'm content to see them be good friends instead of lovers.

1. love finds a way

He feels a soft touch against his hand then, and he blinks, turning to find Eddie smiling at him. His hand is on his hand, and Buck gulps, before he’s moving his hand under, and he watches as Eddie’s eyes flicker for a moment, unsure.

Until he realizes that Buck’s not pulling away, but opening his palm up, intertwining their fingers together. Eddie’s breath hitches then, and he smiles.

2. to watch someone you love (come home)

“Yeah? Well, it was your girlfriend that didn’t want to eat my food,” Eddie returns with a shit-eating grin, putting the food on the coffee table, as Buck lays his head back with a sigh.

“Ex-girlfriend,” he mutters uselessly and Eddie snorts, sitting beside him finally, his thigh pressed against his.

“Thank God for small blessings.”

3. what we deserve

“You okay for us to stay here? I gotta work on the deck, while these two have fun without us,” he says, side-eying Chris then, and making him giggle. His dad blinks only once, before nodding.

“Of course,” he says, and there’s a smile on his face that Eddie is still not used to seeing. At least, not directed at him in his adult life. He can’t help but wonder if they’ll continue to be good the way they are when they’re alone. What if it’s just the momentum of seeing each other for the first time since El Paso? What if it’s just this first day and then it’s back to how it was before? Did his dad mean any of it so far, or is he just placating Eddie? But before he can get too deep into it, he feels a nudge on his knee and comes back to Chris is calling his name.

4. this heart of mine

Joe knows he’ll be stuck on that for a while, so fundamentally entrenched in the pain the betrayal caused. Because there is always a choice. There is always a choice for people, to do good. To do the right thing. To do what is kind, and generous. If he digs into his very own memories as a child, he can feel the teachings of his mother and father: that in our hearts light and kindness we can give to the world, it is up to us how we choose to share it.

5. to forget is to remember, to cherish

Andy takes him by the arm then, and with promises to be back within a month’s time, they go away together, and Joe lets himself be swept away in his sister’s presence. Let’s himself drown in it, because he knows one day, she’ll be a memory. And if their life were to continue beyond more than what they have already been blessed with, then one day, he’ll forget her face, her laughter, her joy.

Seeing Alice Cooper for the first time

I went to another new venue for the first time (Bethlehem, PA) and this was easily the most dressed up I ever got for a show. I wasn't on the floor, but I was 4th row in a wing that was about 7 feet off the floor. This stage is up pretty high, so I was basically at level with the stage which was better imo

Our Favorite Show, part 2

Kermit knows he could be overstepping, but he’s in a battle with his head and his heart. He also knows he’s too deeply in love to sit back and let someone else slip Piggy from his grasp. His eyes are staring into hers with no intention of backing off anytime soon.

He’s waiting for an answer and knows it can go either way; she could give him another chance or give them up for good. He hopes, with everything good in him, she chooses to give him a chance to do things right this time.

Piggy looks at those eyes of his and struggles to come up with an answer, but she knows what she wants. And what Piggy wants, Piggy gets. She nods at him.

The frog subtly holds his breath and looks down, silently praying to any higher power that he doesn’t lose her.

“You know I love you and I’ll always love you,” Piggy says, taking his hands in hers. “I think we’ll be able to figure things out as we go.”

He chuckles, “Yeah, that’s good.”

They press their foreheads together as a sign of reunification. The two lean in for a kiss but it’s interrupted when someone opening the door.

Piggy makes the first move to stand up and smiles when she sees Uncle Deadly. “Did you forget to knock?”

Deadly scoffs, “Yeah like I’m going to knock to get into my best friend’s house. And you say you know me.”

Kermit stands to his feet and wraps an arm around her hips. “How can we help you with?”

“Oh, yes, well, Sam Eagle is on his way here. He’s angry.”

Piggy sighs,” Because I decided to take time off.”

“I think he forgot that he’s one of us.” Kermit deadpans.

“Possibly.”

Sam the Eagle is now in Piggy’s house, smoke coming out of his ears. “You haven’t been in the studio in a few weeks. The people are starting to speculate, and speculation is never good for us.”

“I needed a break. What’s so bad about that?” Piggy asks.

“The studio didn’t allow it,” Sam says. “I understand that mental health is important, but the show is too. All over a tractor?”

“My father died on one when I was a child, so pardon me if I don’t fancy one.”

Kermit takes charge, his southern accent making an appearance. “As the executive producer of the show, I say how and when the show continues. As Piggy’s boyfriend, I say she can do what she wants.”

“Boyfriend?” Sam questions. “That’s not allo—”

“I was with Denise, and you didn’t even bat a wing. I love Piggy, she’s the glue that keeps me together. We’ll start shooting the show, but if something worse happens to her under your watch, I will own that whole studio once I’m done with ABC.”

Sam nods and makes his leave, leaving the trio processing what had just happened.

“That was hot.” Piggy declares.

Deadly shakes his head at the couple. “Since when Kermit’s a southern frog?”

“I’m from Mississippi, Deadly.” The frog responds.

“The accent is sexy.” Piggy adds.

“I know where it can be sexy.”

Piggy smirks at the frog. “Behave, and it might happen eventually.”

Up Late is back on televisions everywhere. The special guest is Liam Hemsworth who is relieved to finally be a guest on the show.

“So,” Miss Piggy begins. “How does it feel to have Thor as your brother?”

“A struggle because he and I used to share secrets all the time, but now we can’t do that. All the best secrets he can’t talk about until after the movie is out.”

Piggy nods. “Moi would be fired because I’d keep Deadly in the known.”

“You know French?” Liam asks.

“Yeah, why?”

The guest leans over to whisper something in her ear. Piggy pulls away with a blush.

“You can’t say those things to me, Liam!”

The audience lets out a roar of laughter.

Meanwhile, Yolanda and Kermit are watching the show from the booth.

“It’s a good thing we didn’t get Tom Hiddleston, huh?” Yolanda asks, laughing.

Kermit gives her a glare and turns his attention to the show. “We’re trying to keep the relationship on the downlow.”

“How’s that going for you?”

The frog ponders on the question for a few moments. “Not sure,” he turns to his assistant with a smirk. “I have an idea.” He doesn’t waste time to make his way to the stage.

He’s greeted by the host and cheers from the audience as he reaches the stage. “Hey, Piggy.”

“Hey, Kermit, what’re you doing?” Piggy asks.

“Checking in,” he turns to the guest star. “Is everyone good?”

“Yes, we are.” Liam answers.

Kermit nods and walks over to Piggy again and presses a kiss to her lips before heading back to the booth.

Piggy knows what her frog was up to as she let a slick grin on his face. “I love that frog.”

“I guess you and Kermit are back together, huh?” Liam asks.

“Since a few weeks ago.” Piggy answers.

“I see.”

Rowlf’s Tavern is filled with the crew of Up Late as they celebrate another great show. Kermit and Piggy sit in their booth, hand in hand.

“So, Mr. Producer Man, how do you manage to make me fall for you more and more?”

Kermit smirks at her. “Hmm, I have no idea.”

 He leans in to press passionate kisses to her lips and much to his approval, Piggy starts kissing him back.

“I forgot how good of a kisser you are.” She says.

“Then let me remind you.”

So it’s been about 2 or 3 years since i’ve been on this site…

Some shit has gone down with my goblinoids. And i have recently found out that my cousin might just be the worst player in existence. Her main character now is a firbolg bard named Primrose.

A collective list of shit Primrose has done in the 2 campaigns she’s in:

-snorted bone dust from a skeleton she powdered with shatter

-put the halfling bard’s discarded teeth in Esku’s hood. Esku is a traumatized Yuan-ti pureblood wild magic sorcerer. He has really bad anxiety. Needless to say, Albion the party mom friend gave her a strict talking-to.

-She and the halfling bard (Calfira, played by my sister) got into an argument with a bunch of grung about Esku. I had to have Ria explain to them that the FROG PEOPLE were scared of the SNAKE MAN.

-in my sister’s campaign, where I play Albion the lawful good teifling fighter, she found a cursed book. Every time you open it, a wild magic surge happens. Albion, naturally, did not like the book.

-Primrose fucking loved it though. She opens it wayyyyy to much. In doing so, she ACCIDENTALLY GASSED A BLACKSMITH SHOP TWICE. Naturally, it was up to me to save the smith.

-She ran into the shop to save the smith’s flower crown. In doing so, she got lost in the poison fog. First instinct? Fucking steal a knife.

-after being lost in the fog for a few minutes, she decided that the only option was death. Not calling for help. Just fucking stabbing herself with a sword.

-eventually, i rescued her. She immediately ran back in and tried to kermit sewer slide AGAIN. SHE SUCCEEDED ON 8 DEATH SAVING THROWS BEFORE SHE FINALLY DIED AFTER ALBION ACCIDENTALLY DROPPED HER.

-we then found out that she had done all that BECAUSE SHE WANTED A NEW CHARACTER SHEET. SHE WANTED TO PLAY AN ORDER OF THE SCRIBE WIZARD BECAUSE I HAD GIVEN ONE OF MY NPCS IN MY GAME A TALKING NOTEBOOK.

-needless to say, her new character was a dragonborn wizard named Drexac. We ‘lovingly’ nicknamed her nutsack. Yeah everyone in the party hated her new character. Albion especially.

-we explored a magic items shop. Drexac found invisibility boots. Her first instinct? Tickle Albion. My sister made her roll for it. She rolled low. It was more like she was groping him.

-she decided it would be funny to pull Albion’s tail. That did not go over well.

-Accidentally cast Compelled Duel on Albion with an enchanted glove. She then refused to duel him. She made a ur mom joke at him.  -we ended up at this cute little elf village. Albion accidentally got engaged within the first minute of being there, but that’s a different story for a different time.

-by this time, my sister and i were so sick and tired of Drexac. My sister’s solution as the dm? Kill off nutsack and resurrect prim. That’s exactly what she did.

-now that prim is back, what do we do? Go get some funky animals.  -after that, it’s time to torture Albion. She opens that fucking book again.

-Prim and Albion swap bodies. This is where it gets wild.

-after realizing she’s been body swapped with a good, pure-hearted boi who has never done anything wrong in his life, she decides to flirt with girls. Remember, Albion is engaged at this point. 

-after ruining his reputation, what does she do? RUIN IT MORE. SHE STEALS A FUCKING DINOSAUR FROM A PET SHOP. AND RUNS AWAY WITH IT. ALBION IS PRACTICALLY IN TEARS BY NOW.

-thankfully, we catch up to her and the magic effect ends.

-wanna know what she fucking does next? Sulks because Albion said he didn’t like her. After the stunt she just pulled.

-there was a whole debacle where Albion and his wife-to-be Juniper had to bake a cake. She tried to help and got powdered sugar FUCKING EVERYWHERE. SHE ALMOST KILLED EVERYONE WITH POWDERED SUGAR.

Thats all i can think of at the moment, but rest assured i will post more dnd shenanigans because there is A LOT.

whenever I get sucked into a Lady Gaga youtube binge I remember how much her whole (pre-Joanne) stage persona reminds me of Elton John. that’s essentially the reason why I liked her from the very beginning of her career even though I wouldn’t have called myself a fan back then (I do now)... I always looked at her and thought “why do people keep comparing her to Madonna when she’s clearly the electro pop version of Elton fucking John!?!?!?”

Puppetry Lost Media

In honour of reaching 50 followers last week (now 55 followers, as of writing this) I decided to cover two subjects of great interest to me: puppetry (of course) and lost media.

Everybody online loves a good old bit of lost media. Whether it be being a part of the many searches for the media in question, or watching documentaries about them on sites like YouTube. I’ve been mildly addicted to the latter kind of content for a while. From what I’ve seen, though, there aren’t many videos or articles out there specifically covering lost puppetry. So, in no particular order, here are a couple of pieces of lost puppetry I found while scrolling through the lost media wiki.

銀河少年隊 - Ginga shounen-tai AKA Galaxy Boy Troop (1963 - 1965)

Osamu Tezuka is one of the most pioneering figures in Japanese art and animation. Starting as a manga artist in the 1940s inspired by the animated works of American studios such as Walt Disney and the Fliecer Brothers, he adapted and simplified many of the stylistic techniques of both artists to create his own signature style of big shiny eyes, physics defying hair and limited animation. A style that would go on to heavily influence the world of anime and manga as a whole.

But animation and graphic art were not the only mediums Tezuka would dabble in. Ginga Shounen-Tai, or Galaxy Boy Troop in english, was a television series that aired on the public broadcast channel NHK from April 7th, 1963 to April 1st, 1965. Running for 2 seasons with a total of 92 episodes.

The series was a mixture of marionette characters that utilised the Supermarionation marionette technique, popularised by Jerry Anderson’s Thunderbirds, and limited traditional animation. The story revolves around a child genius named Roy who leads a rag-tag group of heros around the galaxy in a rocket ship in order to revive the earth’s sun and later protect it from alien invaders.

Out of the 92 episodes that aired, only episode 67 still exists in its entirety with French subtitles, and the full episode can be found on YouTube with English subtitles uploaded by user Rare TezukaVids. According to user F-Man on the Tezuka in English forums, footage of episode 28 exists but with no audio, and episode 87’s animated segments exist without the marionette segments. F-Man also claims the reason for Galaxy Boy Troop’s disappearance is due to Tezuka not being proud of the series and having all episodes of it destroyed.

Personally, I think it’s a shame that pretty much all of this series is gone. From what I’ve seen in episode 67, it looks really charming. Tezuka’s signature character design style was adapted suprisingly well to marionettes, and the puppetry itself isn’t that bad either. I love the little face mechanisms like the blinking eyes, flapping mouths and others. It gives the puppets a lot of personality and charm. Like, just look at this old mans eyebrow mechanism and tell me you wouldn’t want to watch 92 episodes of this show;

Tinseltown (2007)

Tinseltown was a 15 minute sitcom pilot created by the Jim Henson company under thier Henson Alternative banner. The pilot was commissioned by the Logo Network and aired as part of the Alien Boot Camp programming block in 2007.

The pilot (and likely the series, had it been picked up by the logo network) features a cast of both puppets and live actors as characters. The premise revolves around Samson Kight, an anthropomorphic bull preformed by Brian Henson and drew Massey, and his partner Bobby Vegan, an anthropomorphic pig prefomed by Bill Barretta and Michelan Sisti, as they attempt to balance thier lives working in Hollywood with life as parents to thier sullen 12-year-old foster son, Foster, played by Paul Butcher. Other human characters included Mia Sara as Samson’s ex-wife Lena and Francesco Quinn as the family’s manservant Arturo.

The Tinseltown pilot used to be available on the Logo Network’s YouTube channel, but was later removed for unknown reason. Since then, the pilot has not been made available online. However the characters Samson and Bobby have made appearances in other Henson related works, such as the improv stage show Stuffed and Unstrung, where they played the role as the shows producers, and in a 2011 video on the Jim Henson Company YouTube channel celebrating Jim Hensons 75th birthday.

I find Tinseltown pretty interesting as I feel like it should be more noateable or known, considering that this is (as far as my knowledge goes) the first Jim Henson Company project featureing openly lgbtq characters as its leads, and would have been the first Henson show to do so had it been picked up. As someone who’s interested in lgbtq+ representation in creative media such as animation, I realised that there’s not many examples of canon lgbt characters in puppetry. The only ones aside from Samson and Bobby I could think off the top of my head would be Deet’s Dads from The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance and Rod from Avenue Q. Though, obviously, there could be more I’m not currently aware of. I don’t think the Tinseltown pilot was a masterpiece or anything. After all, there’s probably a couple of good reasons Logo didn’t pick it up for a full series. But I think it be cool if either Henson co. or Logo made this available online again, if just so we could appericate it as an interesting little footnote in the history of lgbtq rep in puppetry.

With that said, considering the pilot’s obscurity and the fact that it’s main couple haven’t been used in any Henson Related projects in almost ten years, as well as the possibility that there may be legalities preventing the Henson company from releasing it such as Logo still owning the rights, it’s unlikely we’ll see the Tinseltown pilot anytime soon.

Sonic Live in Sydney (1997 - 2000)

Sonic the Hedgehog is a fictional character no stranger to multiple interpretations of him and his universe across a diverse range of media. From the more light-hearted and comedic stylings of The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog and Cartoon Networks Sonic Boom cartoon series, to more serious faire such as the Sonic SatAM cartoon and the Sonic Adventure videogame duology. One of the more obscure and stranger adaptations of the character came in the form of Sonic Live in Sydney, a one an a half hour live show hosted at the former Sega World Sydney amusement park in Darling Harbor, Sydney, Australia. Originally beginning as a live show with actors in meet-and-greet style costumes, the show eventually was replaced with a puppet show during its last two years.

The shows plot was set in an alternate timeline whos continuity was a mix of the SatAM cartoon and Sonic the Hedgehog 3, where Doctor Robotnik’s Death Egg crash lands in Sydney, Australia instead of Angel Island and attempts to take over before being foiled by sonic and friends. According to Phillip Einfeld of Phillip Einfeld Puppetoons, the company that made the puppets, Sega felt the costumed actor version of the show wasn’t dynamic enough, and wished to replace it with a version featuring live puppets with animatronics. Both versions of the shows plot are identical.

While Sonic Live in Sydney’s soundtrack is available on YouTube, and some photos of the show are available on the Lost Media Wiki, no footage of either the costumed actors version or the puppet show version have resurfaced. The show was closed down in 1999, possibly due to cost, shortly before the Sega World park as a whole in 2000. So unless there is someone out there who viseted the show between 1998 or 1999 who recorded the show via a handheld camera, footage of both incarnations of the show are likely forever lost to time.

On a personal note, I don’t have much to say on this one other than how gloriously peek gaudy 90s Sonic the set/puppet design is. I have no doubt finding footage of these puppets in action would truly be a silly delight to behold...

Legend of Mary (year unknown)

This one is a little different from the other entries on this list as while the film itself in its entiraty is available on YouTube for anyone to view, the information surrounding Legend of Mary, specifically its year of release, remains a mystery as of writing this.

I have mentioned the film before on this blog so I’ll keep it brief here: in summary, Legend of Mary is a short film retelling of the Nativity featuring the Rod puppets of Austrian puppeteer Richard Teschner. the video was uploaded to YouTube by user canada 150 archive. I looked up the people credited in the film and was able to find most of them, but didn’t find Legend of Mary listed in thier credits, and was unable to find the film on sites like IMDB, tMDB or Letterboxd. I reached out to Canada 150 archive asking if they had any info regarding the Legend of Mary’s release date, and after a coupe of months, they replied saying they didn’t know.

And that’s as far as I got on my search for answers, if anyone of you guys has any information regarding Legend of Mary, then it be of huge help in finding the release date.

Sam and friends (1955 - 1961)

Sam and friends was the very first puppetry television series created by Jim Henson alongside his colabarator and future wife Jane Nebel. filmed in Washington, D.C. and airing twice daily on WRC-TV and the NBC affiliate in Washington, D.C. from May 9, 1955, to December 15, Sam and Friends would mark the first apperence of Kermit (though not yet as a frog) and paved the way for Henson’s iconic and revered legacy in the realm of puppetry on film and television.

With the impact this show had in mind, it may come as a shock to some that almost half of Sam and Friends, specifically, 42 of the 86 episodes, are considered lost. With 16 existing, 8 documented, 9 known from memory, plus 8 existing Esskay commercials and 1 memory-known Esskay commercial. Some taped episodes have been shown at venues such as the museum of the moving image while others have been erased. It’s unknown if copies of these erased episodes still exist.
