I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your blog and the works that you post. You just have a style of writing that I like very much and makes me want to read more, even if it's about a driver or scenario that I typically wouldn't gravitate towards.

I was also hoping you might be able to help me with something. I noticed that a while back you posted some works about MotoGP and I want to broaden my motorsport interest/knowledge outside of F1 and its associated series. I watched the race last weekend and have to admit I was quite lost for the most part about how everything works and who is who besides a few names I recognized 😅

So I was wondering if maybe could recommend some blogs on here, creators on other platforms, YouTube videos or something like that that could help someone as lost as me understand motoGP a bit more.

hi anon! first off, thanks for your kind words <3 i love whenever i have the chance to talk about motogp to anyone so of course I’ll help you out!

i started watching motogp in early 2019 because my cousin was watching a race and i thought it was interesting. i understand your confusing because trust me, i was confused as hell when i watched my first motogp race.

Ishimaru Kiyotaka Headcanons! (Reposted)

Triggering content will be discussed such as self harming and poor eating habits n' habits in general.

-Freckles!!

-Longer hair than his canon hairstyle. God they did him dirty.

↑(It's not too long, maybe jawline length.)

-Non-Despair, Maizono was Ishimaru's first friend.

-Knows how to cook and is very good at it! He usually cooks for him and his father a lot in order to make sure Takaaki eats well

-Was horribly bullied and attacked in middle school

-Because of the scandal of his grandfather, the only other place he knew was school because of a lot of people publicly shamed the Ishimaru family, making his family not be able to go many places near their home town

-Has scars

↑(Mainly on his torso and arms!)

-Got his ears pierced but rarely wears earrings

-Has insomnia due to very bad sleep habits from staying up on multiple occasions to finish work

Trigger warning ahead!!

-He has SH scars from his time in middle and growing up in general, his father helped him get through it but he tends to do it now when it gets too much for him, Owada helps out too by showing him replacement ways that won't leave permanent scars on Ishimaru, he's doing much much better now

↑ (based off beta Ishimaru where he did cut himself after Owada's death, though it was neat so I wanted to imply that to him since I thought that was a missed opportunity for the DR creator and his original death as well.)

-Ishimaru is very ironic/hypocritical person because he'll tell people to eat 3 meals a day and get your 8 hours of sleep when he doesn't even do that

↑ (He'll constantly skip meals and stay up but he tries to get on a better schedule; Owada helps since he noticed how poorly his body actually is during the endurance battle between them when Ishimaru passed out.)

-Ishimaru's least favorite love language is gifts of appreciation and touch due to the fact that that's all has been given his life, awards after awards to the point they've gotten meaningless and it's just another thing that takes up space and that every time he's been touch he's ended up hurt so he tends to not wanna be touched.

- Quality time and words of affirmation are his top favorite love languages. He loves hearing kind and affectionate words from another people, especially when a person acknowledges Kiyotaka from being his own person or telling him he's needed here. He's been always compared to his grandfather or other people that he feels like he isn't seen as a person or himself and would be better off being somewhere else to hearing those words really helps him. Also just being around people always brightens Ishimarus day, especially people he cared about. And of course he cries whenever receiving these, who wouldn't?

-Ishimaru doesn't like being touched by anyone without permission, he freaks out when someone randomly touches him. His father is the only exception, sometimes Owada but even he's on a thin line.

-The first time Owada ever saw Ishimaru mad, his first instinct was to hug him since when he, himself, gets mad he tends to break stuff. This resulted in one of the few times Ishimaru punched someone since he thought he was being held down for no reason, and he has repeatedly apologized to Owada and helped him. Now Owada knows to just talk to him instead of hugging him.

-very, VERY, reckless sleeper, he never wakes up in the same place he fell asleep in. He could fall asleep on his bed and wake up on the other end of the room.

-Kiyondo Ishida is a part of him and the roots of Ishimaru's hair will turn white only when he's mad and his eyes will have a faint aura around it.

-He's sensitive to sunlight due to the sheer fact he's so pale and he burns very easily.

↑(Even wearing layers of sunscreen, he'll still be burnt as hell! Might as well be a vampire at this point.)

-Whenever he is rarely given compliments it's mainly about his eyes, people comment about how much it pops out

-Isn't ticklish anywhere

↑(Takaaki hates this since he can't get payback at Ishimaru when he tickles him.)

-Hates eating in front of him due to his horrible eating habits when he eats

-Ishimaru fell in love with Owada when they went out once. Ishimaru was ranting about something and glanced over to Owada, expecting him to be looking at his phone or drink but Owada was looking at Ishimaru, listening. When Ishimaru realized that it shocked him but he soon became red because no one has genuinely listened to him talk/rant so seeing Owada listening to him is what started his spiral of developing a crush on Owada.

-Terrible kisser, help this man

-Very expressive through text, often using a lot of exclamation points and faces/emojis such as ":]]" , ":DD" and so on.

-HATES when people spend money on him, will refuse the item until the person gives up or Ishimaru caves in.

-Ouma is Ishimaru's "school kid." Ishimaru takes care of Ouma and helps him with anything but still despises Ouma's actions and behavior but puts up with it since he can't say much since he's literally dating a gang leader that's been to jail before.

I said more than one that i loved Taka as some of the Crazy Diamonds father figure so of COURSE i'm gonna adore him as anyone else dad/parent.

HI i do wanna talk about system Taka but I tend to. not. only bc i'm.... super anxious and scared ppl will get mad at me. i've gone into detail in my one lil post. but to just drop it here.

note i'm quite literally copy n pasting here.

Also! If anything noted here (despite its lack of depth since this is mostly a personal reference thing for my writing to keep track of timelines usually) is inaccurate, please let me know! I try to not only do research but also speak with people I know who are systems, however I'm aware that I could still very well be inaccurate without intent to be so.

System Kiyotaka consists of:

(CW: References to c/a and suicide.)

Kiyotaka Ishimaru - The host, details to be added later/I’m going to assume you know who Kiyotaka is.

Kiyo - Child alter, split when Kiyotaka was a teenager. Trauma holder, very excitable and sweet. Close with everyone in the system, but closest with Kyoya.

Akira Ishida - Persecutor, split later into elementary (final year, just before sixth grade) when the serious onslaught of violence began, between things with his grandfather getting worse and bullies getting physical to a bloody point.

Akira is aggressive, distrusting, and has harmed themself/the host body due to maladaptive coping mechanisms. However they do come to trust some people (Takaaki, Kyoko, and Sakura).

Kyoya Ishiru - Internal Self Helper, Caretaker. Very motherly, split when Kiyotaka attempted to take his life and woke up in the hospital. Often takes front when Kiyotaka is overwhelmed but not necessarily in danger. She’s fronted multiple times without notice due to masking well and keeping good track of Kiyotaka’s schedule. Also the reason the system keeps track of what happened when others were out of/not near front.

Hagakure ships are a guilty pleasure of mine, because some people give me flack for them. I think these people are a mix of Hagakure haters and those who're uncomfortable with the age gap😅 Have you ever had to deal with such people before?

I like to pair Hagakure with Naegi (in the Future Arc setting) and occassionaly pair him in a polyship with Naegi and Togami (It all started with that one official DR3 picture of Naegi giving coffee to Togami while Hagakure is holding Togami's shoulders 🥹) What do you think of this polyship?

Daiyakure also sounds neat! I think I might have to look further into it. What are your Daiyakure headcanons?

Also, is there anyone you ship Hiroko with? I found some art of Takaaki being paired with her and it seems neat too.

1. I’ve never had issues with people telling me I can’t ship say, togakure or naekure, because I feel like my reasoning is understandable? I guess? I ONLY ship them in the FF setting, and am extremely insistent on people not shipping him with his classmates pre kg and during thh. Also I dont “deal” with people saying hagakure ships suck because they are right hes a loser bitch. (JOKE. KIDDINGGG)

Yay first Question 🥳 thank you so very much ❤️

Buckle up, it’s going to be a long answer and very much off topic as well!

Well first things first, a little bit backstory:

Taka‘s texting style is the only savage thing about Taka that no one, not even Takaaki, could deny. Even if he likes it that his son got a way with his words.

It was like, Taka that silly litte kid that hadn’t fought back his bullies until some sudden point when he was 13. Not that he suddenly got very violent or such (ignoring the murders) but he fought back more often than not succeeding to make bullies cry without using his fists.

Even if that sometimes had resulted in some fights in the class chat being read out aloud in PTA meetings:

[a whole fight between Taka and another bully]

Bully: Well at least my parents haven’t found me behind some kind of dumpster!

Taka: Well my Parents taking me home from there would at least imply that i, unlike you, was wanted by them. Meanwhile you are only here because your parents contraceptives didn’t work. I bet they are letting you feel it everyday too.

So Takaaki wouldn’t be suprised by Taka’s kind of texting, in fact he was sometimes even a victim of that too. Sometimes to the point where their conversations could be straight out a incorrect Quotes Generator.

[Taka being awake for far too many hours because this kid does not only have to finish some assignments for school, but also has to plan some murders]

[Meanwhile Takaaki is working nightshift]

Takaaki: Hey Kiyotaka, could you please go to the supermarket when you wake up, the list in on my desk.

Kiyotaka: Of course father!

Takaaki: why are you still awake Taka ?

Kiyotaka: it’s not a school night.

Takaaki: it’s 3 am.

Kiyotaka: it’s studying Time.

Takaaki: Dear son, you always finish your assignments at least one week before you have to hand them in. So why would you feel the need to study at 3 am?

Kiyotaka: So i can always hand my assignments in at least a week before the due date.

Takaaki could you please not?

Kiyotaka: Maybe the day you don’t text me while having a break and try to befriend your co workers?

Takaaki: so never it is.

In Hope‘s Peak Taka, for the first two months wasn’t even a part of the class chat. Not because his class disliked him that much but because he had clearly stated, that his number wasn’t to be given to anyone. (Togami envied him for being that smart)

It was only after the donut incident that all of class 78 literally fought him to partake in class activities. To the point where Chihiro even hacked the poor assassins phone to find out his number.

Here the first conversation that Taka participated in, in that chat:

Hall Monitor: After that week you‘ll know how failure tastes.

To the class dismay, after the week they really did know how failure tasted. Like, they even had shifts to observe the coffee machine, and everytime at breakfast he would still have a cup of coffee in his Hand.

Not even Mondo would find out about the hidden coffee Machine in Kiyotaka’s room. Not even after he stayed the night for the first time.

Also this was the incident that led to him studying the urban dictionary for at least 30 Minutes a day. Beginning with the oldest memes.

So according to these conversations everyone in the class should know that Kiyotaka at least isn’t to be referred as a little meow meow right?

False! Kiyotaka somehow always has behavior patterns that make others forget about this part of his personality. Like the closer he gets to the class the more they see that he isn’t as calm and collected as everyone seems to think. He is loud, cries when he sees cute kittens, and generally is well.. himself.

Which is part of the reason Mondo and Takaaki are so protective of him. Even after they´ve seen him in action they do still think that he is far too emotional to possibly be an assassin. In their eyes Kiyotaka wouldn’t even hurt a fly.

Meanwhile everyone’s absolutely ignoring that Kiyotaka only became an assassin because he didn’t want his Grandfather to make his father cry anymore.

Also he literally keeps the students of Hopes Peak from making trouble.

The ultimate cult leader wants to sacrifice another student, with the help of his followers. Kiyotaka frees the student and gives the whole cult detention. Someone of the crazy Diamonds needs a shoulder to cry on? He’s there. There are at least a hundred Knife roombas running free in Hopes peak? He has the proper protective gear for that. Jin Kirigiri gets threatened by a student? Kiyotaka’s number is on every Teachers speed dial. Something happens to Mondo and Takaaki? Kiyotaka will shoot the one responsible for that.

So everyone could at least figure out that Kiyotaka wasn’t some kind of meow meow, but instead they ignore the facts in favor of Taka’s emotionality and the fact that he’s Meme illiterate which many seem to mistake as him being naive.

With Mondo and Takaaki it’s even worse, because they know and love Kiyotaka in a way no one else does.

Takaaki literally sees Kiyotaka as his cute little baby. In his eyes he’ll never grow up. He is very protective over Taka. The scandal in the past and Kiyotaka’s tendency to cry because of the most unexpected things just make that worse.

For Mondo Kiyotaka is absolutely a saint. Misunderstood at times, but only well meaning. Also very emotional. The fact that he is head over heels and totally whipped doesn’t make it better.

Also the fact that he acts like a Mom for everyone when they need it and it’s own set of issues(?) it brings.

In other words both of them could literally watch Kiyotaka slaughtering a room of people and still being in denial over the fact that Taka is even able to hurt someone.

Kiyotaka: *hanging a man with his own organs*

Takaaki: *to Mondo* (…) and my son wouldn’t hurt a fly, so don’t you dare to get him into your gang business!

Mondo: *agrees* Yes that would be far too dangerous for him.

Daiya: Are you serious?

Kiyotaka: *still covered in blood* *sighing*

Takaaki spends time with Chihiro and he's basically a mini Taichi which he finds adorable. His soon-to-be step-son is just like his dad, though, he seems to have more courage and will-power than his dad. Not that Taichi isn't courageous, but Chihiro seems more stronger than that.

Takaaki respects that boy with everything he's got. He wants to protect him.

Meanwhile, Taichi spends time with Kiyotaka. Just like with Chihiro, Taka is exactly like Takaaki. But brighter, less destroyed like Takaaki. Yet still with his issues. They're so the same. Taichi holds him dearly in his mind.

He wants to help him. He wants to be the best step-dad to him. Even if he doesn't see himself as great, he still wants to help.

They both realize that they want to be a family together. To know the kids better. To actually be the parents they both needed.

déjà vu from the view of the other side

Years after the organization takedown, Furuya Rei and Morofushi Takaaki chat about Chief Kuroda Hyoue.

Rei is sitting at the dining the table, a mild frown on his face as he gazes as his laptop, when Takaaki walks in. He raises his head, expression softening into something warmer, and greets, "Welcome back."

The dark circles underneath his eyes are not so visible due to his skin tone, but nevertheless could be easily noticed if one knows what one is looking for, as Takaaki does. Aside from that, though, overall he looks refreshed enough, Takaaki thinks. Considering the workload Rei-kun must have - Takaaki doesn't know all the details, as he doesn't have the security clearance to Rei's work at NPA, but he usually is able to get a general idea from the things Rei is allowed to share - he can see that at least Rei is better at paying attention to taking regular breaks once than he was a couple of years ago.

As youthful looking as Rei might be, he's nearing 40 as well, no longer the energetic 20-something who could survive splendidly on 3 hours of sleep each night. A couple of years back he was still pushing himself quite hard, but he's come to acknowledge that oftentimes playing the long game and winning at it means one needs to take care of oneself first. The more important his role in NPA is, the more crucial it is to ensure he doesn't fall down, which means no rushing headfirst into solving any emergency just because he's the most capable person around.

Perhaps Takaaki's words of quoting different wisdom of famous people about the importance of great leaders and delegating work also had some effects on him, but considering how smart Rei-kun has always been, it's also unsurprising that he'd realized this eventually and adjust accordingly.

Takaaki smiles back at him, a small but genuine one, and says, "Rei-kun." The edge of his mouth curves up just a little more. "Good to be back - just about reaching my limit of monthly dose of bickering with Kansuke-kun." He's just came back from his visit to Nagano - Rei's busy with NPA work that's highly classified, and they'd agreed it's a good chance for Takaaki to visit Kansuke and Yui.

Rei chuckles fondly, standing up, stretching as he does so, like a graceful cat. He moves forward and places a quick, chaste kiss on Takaaki's lips. "Liar," he says lightly. "You love bickering with Kansuke-san. Because you always win."

"That is true," Takaaki acknowledges, mock serious, with faint amusement underneath that he doesn't particularly bother hiding.

Rei laughs, looking quite relaxed. He heads for the kitchen, "You must be hungry - I just made spaghetti earlier - I'll heat it up."

"Thanks, Rei-kun," Takaaki says.

They chat over dinner. About Nagano, about Kansuke and Yui and their son ("which story of the Three Kingdoms did you tell him this time - wait, let me guess"), about the murder case he encountered while he was there ("I ran into Kudo-kun and Hattori-kun in Nagano, they were there investigating something for a client"), about Rei's work (the parts he's allowed to talk about, and the things he probably shouldn't say but can clever hint at, and he knows Takaaki would come to his own conclusions anyway).

Then, out of the blue, Rei asks, "Takaaki, do you remember the time Chief Kuroda phone you to pretend not to know me, when I was still Amuro Tooru?"

Takaaki blinks, mildly surprised at this sudden mention of something from almost a decade ago. "I remember," he replies. "What brings this up?"

He still remembers that day clearly - it's the first time he saw Rei again, after so many years. The best friend Hiromitsu had brought to meet with him in Tokyo when they'd both still been middle school students had turned into the smooth-talking detective Amuro Tooru, apprentice to Mouri Kogoro.

That day, Chief Kuroda had phoned him earlier after realizing what was going on, instructing him of what to say and what not to say - actually, correction, it wasn't even him that Chief Kuroda directly phoned, but rather Kansuke. Later, after receiving more clues, he was able to deduct that the sushi chef was none other than Rum, the second-in-command of the organization Rei-kun was undercover at.

"I think, back then, even though I rationally understand that someone in the Chief's position has his own reasons for keeping secrets, and in general I respect that," Rei says, shrugging. "I still thought that this one in fact one piece of information he should've let me know. Other things, I could understand, but Rum's identity - well, that seems rather crucial and one the things safer for me to be aware of, I thought."

"He probably has his reasons," Takaaki acknowledges. "But even people in his positions can make error in judgements sometimes."

Rei smiles faintly. "Thought you'd say so."

Takaaki raises an eyebrow. "Can I assume the reason you're suddenly bringing this up is because you're wondering if certain information you're currently keeping from a subordinate is perhaps information that should be shared?"

"You're as sharp as ever," Rei says lightly. "I mean, I've looked at it from all angles before deciding how to compartmentalize everything and break down each piece of information to give to different people, to ensure the balance between efficiency in getting things done and the safety of all. I take into account of everything - including different people's different level of acting skills and if knowing something might actually endanger themselves or others. And usually I am quite confident in my own decisions, except," he hesitates.

"There were complaints?" Takaaki guesses.

"Just on one or two things, and not even directly to my face, just something I happened to find out. And while I think I made the right decision - giving the circumstances at that time, that was the most rational thing to do, I do wonder if I need to make certain adjustments - for things specifically related to one topic only." He makes a face. "Sorry for being vague."

"It's fine," Takaaki reassures him. "Comes with the territory."

Rei gives him a grateful smile. Then he looks more serious again. "I mean, I still think that on that kind of sensitive subject, it's best to keep the people in the know to a strict minimum. And - let's call him A - he didn't need to know, though I can understand why he'd want to. But the thing is, just because I think it makes sense from my point of view - Chief Kuroda must've thought it made sense not to share with me his knowledge of who Rum was, for reasons I'm sure he thought were justified. And yet on that topic specifically, I must say I differ in his opinion. So if even he could make mistakes, I feel like I shouldn't not so arrogantly assume that reasonable decisions from my point of view are actually always the best solution."

"It might not necessarily always be," Takaaki acknowledges. "But sometimes all we could do is make sure that's the best decision given the information and resources we have on hand - and more importantly, contingency plans for the possible fallouts that may come with this decision if things turn for the worst."

"Yeah, you're right," Rei sighs. "I just kind of like - worry that I've been out of the fieldwork for too long that I might be losing perspective."

"The fact that you can see that and take that into account is rather indicating that you're likely not doing that," Takaaki says.

Rei smiles. "Hopefully," he says. "Would you mind if I use you as a sounding board? I can't talk about the details and I'll have to substitute any sensitive information with something else, but I think you can get the overall picture. And tell me if going down a road I shouldn't be."

"Fire away," Takaaki says. "I'm here to listen."

So Rei does.

After he's done, Takaaki says, "I think you made the right call. I can definitely see how A-kun might have complaints, but that's those are just - closer to the displeasure of being kept things from, but it doesn't affect his overall job."

Rei exhales. "Good. Good. I thought so, but I wanted a second opinion."

Takaaki studies him. "It could be quite lonely up there sometimes, doesn't it?"

"In some way, probably," Rei says. "But someone has to do it." He smiles. "Plus, as cheesy as this might sound - it's not so lonely when I have you."

"I'm very honored that the head of NPA thinks so," Takaaki replies, smile half-fond, half-amused.

Rei laughs, and leans in closer to kiss him.

Takaaki kisses him back.

#543 - Don't Kill the Love Song (PinocchioP) [Hatsune Miku]

The intro shout sounds like 90’s ska, but without any brass, so more like a working march. It also has a manbo-p feel, both in the structure and kind of the open-ending feeling of the lyrics. Just don’t kill the love song, indeed.

#544 - Spinning Sky Rabbit (Orangestar) [Hatsune Miku]

Achievement Date: 20-01-02, Upload Date: 16-11-14

Orangestar did some Miku songs in the interim, this song got a bump in TikTok in 2021. Very different from the wide open sky-like feel of most Orangestar songs, this feels like a warm lullaby, although it still has that high pitch sound. A new classic.

#U-6 - Cynic (Police Piccadilly) [Yamine Renri]

We have a Renri song with a Police Piccadilly slickness. Renri is not as versatile as Teto, but it has kind of a TikTok utaite feel so it’s good for more breezy songs like this. Yeah, you can’t really go wrong with Police Piccadilly, honestly.

First collaborations with M.B., and the arrival of the Orangestar that we know today. Feeling gratitude for the open sky as the world around her is filled with questions. Something I can relate to and also something that really fits Orangestar’s M.O.

I like the animation style, kind of like Heart a la Mode. The song is your typical spite-filled angst song, which at this point kind of feels tiring. I love the self-reference there. I just love how DECO*27 makes lore with his own song, not the only one I know.

#C-3 - Onegai Darling (Nanahoshi Orchestra) [ONE]

I think most don’t know this is a VOCARO song, let alone a CeVIO song. It definitely feels like an insert song to some anime somewhere, but no, the title references the singer right at the beginning. Kind of an early version of S’il vous President. I think this song slaps, but there’s a lot of people who really dislike this song, so… eh. A good point I forgot is the combination of talk and song banks which was the selling point.

#547 - Morning Glow, Your Song. (Nanou) [Hatsune Miku]

Very much follows the vein of early rock ballads like Dear or Time Machine, not that it’s bad. I think I’m most surprised by the variation of songs Nanou can create from dark to light to sad to bittersweet. This versatility kind of hides some of the gems.

#548 - Almost Full Moon (Nakamura) [Yuzuki Yukari]

We have a Yukari song with an odd time signature, with the logo done by GYARI of all people. I think I only remember ‘flying through the night’, and I don’t know why. But it’s a good post-jazz composition and Yukari doesn’t sound too bad here.

I adore this song. I just love the story of the android and the twist at the end is great. And I think this showcases Natsushiro Takaaki’s talent in showing a story through its music. The whole composition is beautiful and it’s one of my favorites.

A bit underrated Orangestar song, but still loved. The song is about someone who lost someone and then gets freaking isekai-ed. The title means the beginning of all things, by the way. Yeah, I think, one of the directly emotional songs from him.

Ooh, this is a good one! I think I will do DR head canons, since it'll just be easier for me to keep straight, ha.

Also, thanks! I'm feeling much better now than I did yesterday. Yesterday sucked, oof. I'm pretty sure it's either a mild version of the flu, or a strong cold. The flu is usually mild with me, since I have a good immune system and I get vaccinated every year, so either is possible. At least I've not had any nausea so far. I hate throwing up, oof. But thanks for the concern! :-D

Ask me my “TOP 5/TOP 10” anything!

Okay. So, most of my top head canons are ones that are used in TPWP/TPWM, or any of my other DR fanfics, so they will likely seem familiar to those familiar with my work, ha. Most are ones I came up with myself, but some are inspired by things I've seen around. ^-^ Some of these are two-parted, with one head canon connecting to a second/third, but they need to exist together... if that makes sense. Also, these aren't in order for which I like best, and are instead in order of being least to most my own idea. So... 5 is most based off other head canons, while 1 is completely my own thing, make sense? I was originally gonna order from least to most favorite, but that doesn't really fit here, ha.

5. Taka has severe anxiety. Like... this is kind of not a head canon at this point, considering the things Taka would say in canon, but it was never said outright in canon, plus other things could have caused Taka to say the things he did. But considering that I have fairly bad anxiety, I like to head canon Taka as having anxiety too. In conjunction with this one, there is also the head canon that Mondo has self-esteem issues and actively hates himself. Again, it is supported in canon, but since it's never outright said, it's still a head canon. I also take both to more of an extreme, ha. I just think it's an interesting dynamic to have Taka with anxiety and Mondo with self-esteem issues. I've definitely seen this done in other fics, so it's not really my own idea at all.

4. Taka's mother is dead/Taka was (or is) very close to his mother. I saw the "Taka's mother is dead" one in a fanfic somewhere, and it stuck with me. I think I came up with the whole Taka is close to his mother thing, though I doubt I'm the only one to think that. I wrote it in TPWP to have Taka be more of a parallel to Mondo (both of them lost someone close to them that they loved dearly and irrationally blamed themselves for), but I do like the idea of it. Concurrently, I also head canon that Takaaki loves Taka dearly, but is just really bad at showing it. This is similar to something I read in a fic once (I think it was in One Personal Favour by ChasML, which actually inspired a lot of TPWP early on), in that Takaaki is a bit dismissive of Taka and distant, but I wasn't a big fan of how they made Takaaki not actually love Taka in the end. So, I came up with the head canon that Takaaki was indeed distant and sometimes dismissive of Taka, but it wasn't malicious or anything. He was just grieving his late wife and didn't know how to connect with his living son anymore. However! I did write one fic where Taka's mom is alive (I don't think it'll ever get published since it's in WIP hell, sadly), though, and I had a wonderful time writing their relationship.

3. Daiya met Taka when he was younger, maybe even saved his life, and neither knew about it. This one was a head canon that I was very hesitant on at first, since it seems too serendipitous and coincidental for my liking, but the more I thought of it, the more I liked it. I even wrote about it in The Problem with Families. I just really like the idea that Taka did meet Daiya at some point, since Daiya is so important to Mondo. I think I did see this one somewhere in a fic? With Daiya rescuing Taka from a bully or something when he was young, but I don't know if that came before or after I came up with this head canon. I don't remember which fic that was, though, sorry.

2. Taka says "it's a Kiyotaka Ishimaru guarantee!" (Or, I suppose "Ishimaru Kiyotaka guarantee," considering he's Japanese). I honestly have no idea where I got this idea, but it started in one of the middle chapters of TPWP and I was super enamored to it and I added it to earlier chapters. It just seems like a Taka thing to say, you know? Super dorky, but also kind of endearing. I think I started it as a sort of parallel to Mondo's "promise between men" thing, but honestly, who knows. Either way, it definitely has been cemented in my brain and is just something Taka says, ha

1. Daiya has a mentor that helped him when he was younger. This one is also concurrent with the head canon that Daiya and Mondo's father was abusive and their mother was a negligent alcoholic, as well as the head canon that Daiya is several years older than Mondo. I came up with this idea when writing TPWM, and y'all will have seen it in the latest chapter with Daisuke. I really like the idea, though. Mondo canonically stated that he only had Daiya as family growing up (and I saw someone say that Mondo's reference to his mom in a FTE was something added in the English dub, which makes sense since I never understood how that fit with him stating he only had Daiya), so it makes sense that their parents were terrible and not really in the picture. Mondo's anger and his anxiety talking to people (women in canon, but it can be thought that it wasn't just exclusive to women) are signs of abuse and negligence, too, so that whole idea isn't completely far fetched. Having Daiya raise Mondo pretty much on his own from the time Mondo was a baby is also not completely far fetched, since I have sadly heard real stories of older siblings almost exclusively raising their younger sibling. However, I like the idea that Daiya wasn't completely alone, and that he had some semblance of a mentor/positive father figure in his life that helped teach him the rules he taught to Mondo. I've not really seen this as a head canon before (the abusive father one, yes, but not the alcoholic mother one either), which is why I'm putting it at number 1. It has nothing really to do with canon, either, just is something I think makes sense and would be nice.

Alright, done! Phew, that was a lot. However, I do have one bonus thing for y'all that I thought of when I was writing the one about Taka's mother. This one isn't really a head canon, but like I said, I was reminded of it and wanted to share. Anyway, in the same fic where I had Taka's mother live, I also had Daiya live, since I like Taka and Mondo being parallels to each other. However, I don't think that Mondo would have become the person he is in DR if he didn't have some tragedy befall Daiya, so in this AU, Daiya was hit by the truck like in canon, but here he survived. However, he fell into a coma for a few months, which made Mondo super guilty and worried, leading to him having a similar reaction to the whole thing.

Daiya did eventually wake up, but he was paralyzed from the waist down and has some trouble using his hands, meaning he cannot ride a motorcycle anymore, plus he needs someone around to help him do certain tasks. Obviously, both Daiya and Mondo prefer that Daiya is alive, but it does lead to some tension between the two, especially with Mondo's insistence that the whole thing was his fault. Daiya does not see it like that at all, he knows that it was completely his decision (and one he'd do again, gladly giving every and anything to save his little brother), and he gets frustrated with Mondo sometimes because of his guilt. But ultimately, they are still very close and love one another dearly. Also, Daiya teases the hell out of Mondo for being head over heels in love with Taka while not realizing it, but that's just a given. ;-) And he's so, so proud of Mondo for having gotten into Hope's Peak, and had to pretty much force him to leave Daiya to the care of some members of the gang and head off alone to school. ^-^
