Eddie, Baby
Reddie fluff written while obsessively listen to Eddie, Baby
“Ow... Eddie, that hurts, man!” Richie whined.
“It wouldn’t hurt as much if you would just be still!” Eddie groaned.
What were Derry’s resident gays doing? They... well Eddie was playing doctor. To the lovable idiot who had shown up at his window (since Richie knew that Eddie’s mom wouldn’t let him in looking like he did) covered in blood and bruises and dirt. Honestly, Eddie’s very own source of nightmare fuel.
But, despite being royally grossed out, Eddie had opened his window and pulled Richie inside.
“What did you even do to get this dirty?!” Eddie demanded as he wiped the dirt off of Richie’s face with a damp towel.
Looking down, there was dirt all over Richie’s shirt, arms, legs, feet, and hair. It was then that Eddie registered that Richie was barefoot. Like, honest-to-God barefoot.
“Why does that matter?” Richie huffed.
“Because that’s the natural thing to ask when your best friend shows up to your window covered in dirt and blood? And where are your shoes? Do you know how unsafe it is to go around barefoot? What if you stepped on glass or some flesh-eating amoeba that started to eat away at your foot skin, huh?” Eddie lectured.
“...theBowersGangroughedmeupandtookmyshoes...” Richie coughed.
“What?” Eddie asked, stopping his application of antiseptics to try to process what his boyfriend had said.
“...the... the, uh, Bowers Gang... they, uh, roughed me up a bit and... took my shoes... and my bike...” he sighed.
“For what reason?!”
“Dunno... they’re just assholes, I guess...” Richie shrugged.
Eddie sighed exasperatedly, returning to applying antiseptics to all of Richie’s cuts. Then, he went to his stash of band-AIDs that he kept in his room underneath his bed and took out enough to cover all of Richie’s cuts, gently applying them.
When he went to apply one to the bridge of Richie’s nose, he found himself getting lost in Richie’s eyes. They were so full of warmth and compassion, despite Richie’s often crude actions and words. They were beautiful.
Eddie shook his head, fighting back a blush.
“Something wrong, Edds?” Richie asked, tilting his head to the side curiously.
“N-no! Go... go wash your feet so I can make sure you didn’t cut yourself on glass...” he demanded, turning his face away to hide his massive blush.
Richie chuckled as if he knew something that Eddie himself didn’t know, but went to Eddie’s bathroom to wash his feet anyways. When he came back, Eddie’s blush had died down and he had gotten his first aid kit out.
“Ok. Sit on my bed so that I can get a better look at the bottoms of your feet,” Eddie instructed.
Richie did what he was told, sitting down on Eddie’s bed carefully.
Eddie picked up Richie’s feet one at a time, inspecting the bottoms thoroughly to make sure that there weren’t any cuts that needed taking care of. There weren’t, thankfully, and as soon as he put Richie’s feet down, he sanitized his hands three times.
“You’re lucky there weren’t any cuts, you know?” Eddie spoke up, breaking the silence that had fallen.
“Oh, is that so?” Richie hummed.
“Mhm,” Eddie responded, moving to sit on his bed alongside Richie.
They were facing each other, sitting cross-legged on the bedspread, so close their knees were touching.
Eddie caught Richie’s gaze again, unable to pull his eyes away from Richie’s. Subconsciously, the two moved closer and closer and closer, until their face were mere inches away.
“Can I...?” Richie asked.
Eddie got the gist of what he was trying to say, nodding slightly. Richie leaned in further, closing the gap and touching their lips together in a kiss. After Richie initiated it, Eddie grew bolder, starting to move his lips against Richie’s, falling into the rhythm of kissing easier than he thought he would. Richie’s lips tasted like the vanilla chapstick he used and the remnants of a Coca-Cola he’d had earlier when they were hanging out.
When they pulled away, their faces were both bright red and they were panting slightly.
“Does this... make us boyfriends?” Richie asked.
“Well, duh,” Eddie huffed.
Richie laughed, pulling Eddie down into another kiss.
They spent the rest of the time pressed up against each other, cuddling and rambling until the sun dipped behind the tree line.

Fic Recs/Mandatory Reading for Reddie fans
Here is an incomplete list of some of my favorite Reddie fics on ao3, because i cannot get over the sheer talent of this fandom’s wonderful writers! A lot of these are the Greatest Hits that you’ll find on almost every fic list, but that’s why I consider them mandatory reading. like if you haven’t read some of these, what are you doing?
the years go by like days by georgiestauffenberg, rated M
the 27 years in between, but better because richie and eddie stay together. every time i think of this fic, i think of that lady gaga meme where she’s like “brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, etc” and maybe it’s bc this is one of the first reddie fics i ever read, but this one is always gonna be my favorite
broken record by spunknbite, rated E
the mother of all time loop fics. every reddie veteran gets chills at the phrase “the house on Neibolt was still standing”
literally everything by stitchy
like seriously just clear a few days bc you’re not gonna want to stop reading this author once you start. no other author has made me literally fucking cackle in one paragraph and sob in the next like this one, pls do yourself a favor and devour all their works like i did
the night we met (take me back) by camerasparring, rated E
ch2 fix-it where eddie shows up at richie’s door alive and with no memory. great slow burn with a wonderfully conflicted richie, 10/10
let’s hear it for my baby! series by cloudings, rated E
OOOOOOOHHH boy! a modern teen!reddie grindr AU that’s both steamy AND sweet?? more like a fucking blessing amen hallelujah
a heart that laughter has made sweet by marjaani, rated E
another lovely teen!reddie fic that’s got it all! sweet, stupid boys, humor, a teeny bit of angst, and some 5-alarm fire smut with some top eddie, as a treat
keep talking. i’ll keep walking toward the sound of your voice. by theappleppielifestyle, rated T
angst with a happy ending is my favorite, and this one is just fantastic. so sweet, so sad! and stan is featured as eddie’s afterlife buddy and idk about y’all but i cannot get enough of stanley uris in my reddie fics. read this, then read all this author’s reddie fics, they’re all amazing
collateral by loosecannon, sheepknitssweater, rated E
a post-ch2 fic that i guess could be classified as fix-it, BUT with some very interesting twists. they beat the clown, everyone lives, but no one really gets the tropey happy ending. the WIP sequel is also incredible and i live for the updates.
the greater fool  series by mischiefmanager, mostly rated T with some E
this is a series i’ll reread a lot bc it’s so fucking good. follows young reddie into early adulthood, mostly a bunch of cute shit where they figure out themselves and their relationship. also contains the single best teen reddie fic in existence, he came in through the window, but reading the whole series is a must
brokeback derry and everything else by Amuly, rated E
27 years in between, richie and eddie reconnect in their 20s and meet back up in derry twice a year to remember and love each other before going back to their lives and forgetting. so much pain. there’s a lot of sweet stuff in there, but you can see shit’s gonna get complicated from miles away and the anticipation almost gave me stomach ulcers (in a good way). ultimate angst with a happy ending.
let me name the stars for you by playedwright, rated M
speaking of angst with a happy ending...Martian AU!!!!! this one fucked me up in the best way, i literally called my roommate at 2am to vent to her about my emotions after reading it. i go back and reread chapter 8 just to be overwhelmed by it, and it makes me cry every time. plus, there are awesome sequels/companion pieces in the series! read this, i beg you!
walk through fire for you by hyruling, rated T
unwind after all that angst with some cute, drunk, confused eddie being very upset when he finds out richie is engaged. richie only teases him a little before pointing out the matching ring on eddie’s finger.
in the heat of the summer (you're so different from the rest) by kaboomslang, rated E
post-ch2 slow burn with tags that really say it all, including but not limited to: eddie moves to california and richie is a mess, Eddie Kaspbrak’s Hot Girl Summer, and cute middle aged man dates
pivotal moments by danfanciesphil, polypocket, rated E
high school reddie has a sort of fwb thing goin on, but emotions get in the way. featuring wonderful bevchie friendship, hella miscommunication, cute double dates, high eddie, and a happy ending
like a bullet in the back by jerry_duty, rated M
adult idiots in love! a personal favorite trope of mine! slow burn with a fair helping of angst but a really great ending. richie stays with eddie in new york while he’s there on business, and it takes these losers SO LONG to figure it out but the way they dance around it is very cute
no sense of living without aim [WIP] by liesmyth, rated E
richie and eddie meet on grindr in the 27 years between and hey, whadda ya know, they fall in love! i really love this fic but i’m pretty sure it’s been abandoned. i’ve had it open on my phone browser for like 3 months with no update but i still check it regularly bc i’m pathetic and this fic is just so good i’m DYING to know what happens next so read at ur own risk
a strange sense of familiarity [WIP] by Katranga, rated E
another “they meet and fall in love without remembering” fic, and even though it’s not complete yet, it gets regular updates. oh, also, i’m obsessed with it. they’re long distance fuck buddies who can’t admit they’re in love, and then they get hit with the childhood memories! and everyone lives! what’s not to love!  also PLEASE read kisses take like mint and every other reddie work by this author, they are all fantastic
adult friends by sudowoodo, rated T
AU where adult reddie meet at a first aid seminar for work (immediately fall in love), become friends, become best friends, and finally get to be happy. has some super repressed eddie and intensely pining richie, which is always fun, and genuinely made me laugh out loud. also please check out this author’s other reddie fics, there’s some super sweet kid reddie in there that really warms the heart
the mind's a funny fruit by joldiego, rated T
eddie wakes up barely alive in derry, has 0 memory, calls himself richie, and moves in with some lesbians. an absolute must read that ought to be on every reddie fic rec compilation. i read this a long time ago and just thinking about it makes me want to read it again.
now what i'm gonna say may sound indelicate [WIP] by IfItHollers, rated E
it took me entirely too long to find this fic since i joined the fandom, and it’s truly a fucking masterpiece. it’s almost at 200k now and still unfinished, and the slow burn is excruciating, but this is a legendary fic for a reason. eddie spends the first chunk of this fic in the hospital recovering from the massive chest wound, and then he and richie move the recovery to ben’s cabin in the woods. the author’s notes for each chapter are a story in themselves
signs of a new lifetime by swordfishtrombones, rated T
one of the sweetest, most romantic reddie fics i’ve ever read. a fresh take on a classic concept: post-ch2, they’re in love, they haven’t said/done anything about it yet, BUT!!! it’s not angsty! they are all cute and giggly like “you say it first!” “no, you say it first!” and it makes me fucking MELT
broadcasting tower by swordfishtrombones, rated E
back-to-back recs from the same author! bc i love these fics so much! sort of similar to the last one in that they both know what’s up and just haven’t said it, but this one’s got the angst! i didn’t know when i read it that it was the same author as the other fic, and i thought how funny, i found another reddie author that perfectly captures this pair in such a wonderfully romantic way! i also just noticed there’s a follow up to this so now i have to go read that immediately
eurydice; the original comeback kid by Vulcanodon, rated M
for the love of god please read this and the other work in this series. it’s a ch-2 fix-it with some intense action sequences and major pining, and it has haunted me since i first read it
love on the telephone by tempestbreak, rated E
okay this one is really just 30k of pure smut but it’s also so sweet and features a mini sexual awakening for eddie and some insecure richie with an emphasis on how much they love and trust each other. also it doesn’t hurt that the smut is fire, like does anyone else want that twink obliterated, or is it just me?
the boy who loves you by candlejill, rated E
eddie lives, richie confesses, things are chill and then they’re not. richie’s career flourishes, which is always nice to read and is what ultimately catalyzes eddie’s gay awakening and realization of his love for richie. it’s got some sad angsty parts and a very sweet ending, and it up there as one of my favorite reddie fics of all time
richie and eddie break up [WIP] by skeilig, rated M
a refreshing and realistic take on life ch-2 for the losers, because being in love at thirteen doesn’t mean you can fall into a perfect relationship at 40. i’ll admit, i’m hoping this will ultimately be a “richie and eddie get back together” fic, but it’s still a very good read (and often very funny in the second chapter) at the moment in the midst of their break up
september 1989 and everything else by pineapplecrushface, rated T
cute kid reddie figuring it out and making me smile. the follow up to this and the after derry series by this author are also personal favorites
go west by ssstrychnine, rated T
road trip fic! an absolute work of art slow burn with teen reddie in the 90s. it’s so beautifully written i just wish i could go back and read it for the first time again
the edification of eddie kaspbrak by tozier, rated M
character study with some incredible fucking prose, my lord it gorgeous. explores how eddie learns about love as he grows up, and it’s super fucking sad sometimes bc the poor boy doesn’t know how to have the things he wants and i just want to give him a hug, but it’s really a spectacular fic
circular motion by sinchronicity, rated M
soulmate!AU that follows book canon and even though it’s been a long time since i’ve read it and the details are fuzzy, i remember absolutely loving it and thinking it was incredible
tell me you know by RichiesToesHurt, rated E
college losers with some severely pining and jealous richie with a lovely ending
predicament bondage [WIP] by dgalerab, rated E
i resisted reading this fic for so long, recently broke and binged all of it, and now i’m like frothing at the mouth for updates. richie’s a closeted actor/comedian who meets eddie, a professional Dom, when he needs help researching a role. they become friends, they develop crushes, richie realizes he’s a sub, and it’s just so much fun to read
there’s a lot more fics to rec so i might add on to this in the future, but in the meantime my biggest tip for for reading fanfiction that took me embarrassingly long to figure out: focus on the authors! if you read something you like, check out the rest of the work by that author bc odds are you’ll like that too. i mentioned it in a few specific works above, but check out the authors catalogues for these fics. if i included every work by these authors that i loved, this list would be miles long
feel free to add on any great stuff i missed, there’s sure to be tons of it!

Hi! Could you possibly give some of your favorite finished chaptered reddie fics?❤
Well do I ever! Enjoy these amazing fics by some amazing people! Its an extensive list so I’ve put it under a read more so as not to clog the tag!
Is there somewhere by @tozier-boy | 11/11 | complete | explicit
Richie didn’t belong in boring, old fashioned, small Derry, that was for sure.
Richie Tozier wore leather jackets and ripped jeans. Richie Tozier had his ear pierced and he painted his nails black. Richie Tozier wore combat boots and let his curls grow wild and messy. Richie Tozier always had headphones around his neck and sometimes he wore eyeliner. Richie Tozier smoked weed on the school ground and told teachers to shut the fuck up. Richie Tozier was tall and skinny and he wore bands tank tops. Richie Tozier was the reason why Eddie had started biting his lower lip way more frequently than he did before.
Zero Characters Left by @stellarbisexual | 18/18 | complete | explicit
Eddie works in social media at a tech start-up in Boston, and Richie's been hired to do some video production for the company.

“‘Remember that hot guy I couldn’t stop turning around to stare at while watching the movie? Y’know, the one I stalked? He’s being hilarious in my math class full of nerds.’ You honestly think that’s my fault, Eds?”
Eddie felt his cheeks heating up, because Richie was right about all of it. Well, most of it. “My name is Eddie, not Eds. And I didn’t stal–”
“Nice to meet you, Eddie. See, isn’t that better? Eddie and Richie, Richie and Eddie. R plus E. It has a nice ring to it.”
the sea around us by @eddiefuckinkaspbrak & @tozier-boy | 26/26 | complete | explicit

Eddie Kaspbrak is 14 years old and he just defeated a demonic clown along with his friends.
Eddie Kaspbrak is 16 years old and he's fighting against himself and the way he feels and the way he thinks.
Eddie Kaspbrak is 18 years old and he'd much rather fight a demonic clown all over again than face his true feelings for Richie Tozier.
The Order by @s-s-georgie | 10/10 | complete | mature
“You guys lost too?”
“Nope. Believe it or not Silent Hill is my actual destination.”
- The Silent Hill Au Literally no one asked for but you're getting anyway.
far too young to die (part one) by @catsbrak | 17/17 | complete | explicit
Eighteen year old seamster Eddie Kasprak is forced to put his survival skills to the test when he’s selected in the reaping for the 27th Annual Hunger Games, where twenty-four young ‘tributes’ who are gathered from each of the twelve districts must fight to the death. (in other words, the reddie hunger games AU no one asked for, and everyone will hate me for)
Kryptonite by hoeziertozier | 13/13 | complete | explicit
‘Richie looked down and scratched the back of his neck awkwardly. “There’s a reason I came to New York.”
“Isn’t it because of your job?”
“Yeah, but there’s a reason I specifically chose New York. I mean, it’s Wonder Boy’s home.”
Eddie choked on air. For the first time in ages, he wanted to use his inhaler. “What?“
"Yeah, I’m kinda obsessed with him. He’s, like, my idol.”
So, his new roommate was his superhero persona’s fanboy. Yep, that was definitely not going to be a problem.’
Or, the self-indulgent Superhero!Eddie and Superfan!Richie AU that literally nobody asked for.
Just Survive Somehow by @s-s-georgie | 21/21 | complete | mature
When the world ended, and the dead rose to eat the living, it turned into kill or be killed, but how do you survive when the creatures around you are constantly evolving?

Operation: Hawaii Honeymoon by @tinyarmedtrex | 9/9 | complete | mature
A plan formed in Eddie’s head. One that would benefit them both. “Does your ex have an instagram?” Eddie asked. Eddie shook his head. “Do you want to make her jealous?”
“More than anything.”
“Hear me out then.” Eddie said, plunging forward even though he knew his idea was ridiculous. “What if you came to Hawaii with me? We’ll act like the perfect couple- she’ll get jealous, maybe want you back, and Myra will have to accept that I’m gay and will leave me alone.”
Richie looked up at him, a noodle dangling out of his mouth. “What?”
[ or Eddie and Richie meet on a plane to Hawaii and strike up a deal. Pretend to be lovers to make Richie’s ex-girlfriend jealous and convince Eddie’s ex-fiance Myra that he’s gay. What could go wrong?]

ask me to stay by @richietoizer | 7/7 | complete | teen
“Your lip is all busted,” Eddie said, as though pointing out that Richie’s lips were injured would somehow make it okay that Eddie was paying attention to them. Richie’s hand came up, long fingers wrapping around Eddie’s tiny wrist, and he gently guided Eddie’s touch away.
Eddie finally wrenched his eyes away from Richie’s lips and met his best friend’s gaze. There was a softness there that he rarely got to see, not even the smallest hint of teasing or joking there. It was just Richie, just Richie looking at him and Eddie looking back. For a single moment, it was just Richie and Eddie alone in the world. Nothing to bother them, nothing to live up to.

It’s Eddie he wants to get a hold of, though, and he does, tucking him under his arm, and ruffling his hair, making him laugh. He’s startled when Eddie looks at him with such happy, shining eyes. And, for a split-second, he’s tempted to kiss him right then, right there in front of everyone.
He wants to. Badly. He doesn’t.
He leans in, instead, and he smacks a loud, wet kiss to Eddie’s cheek, punctuating it with a “mwah!” He does it again and again. “I’m so proud of my little Eds Spagheds!”
“Get off me!” Eddie says, laughing and shoving him away, swatting at his hands.
AU. in the 27 years in-between, Richie and Eddie forget a lot, but they don't forget each other.
Fall Away From Me (I Just Can’t Take It) by @thelazyeye | 6/6 | complete “ explicit
It’s okay, though, Eddie tells himself. It’s all fine. This is part of their arrangement. This is a casual thing they have going. It’s his own stupid fault for catching feelings for someone he agreed to casually fuck. Especially when that person is his best friend from childhood.

IDK, spooky stuff by varnes | 3/3 | complete | explicit
“You’re a ghost hunter, aren’t you?” Georgie reminded him. “And he’s a ghost, or something. So obviously the police won’t find him, but you guys can, with all your equipment. You can find him and make the murders stop.”
From the couch, Richie’s whole face was lit up with delight. That was always a bad sign.
“I don’t know, Georgie,” Bill said, but before he could get the words all the way out, Richie was leaping up and yanking the phone out of his hand.
“Murderous ghost circus performer, love it, love it,” he announced. “Georgiekins, say no more, not one word, we are absolutely going to come bust the shit out of this clown.”

Or: the quasi-BFU AU where Bill, Stan, Bev and Richie go to Derry to hunt a ghost. Featuring a one-armed boy out for revenge; a Tiny Smol hotel clerk who can't decide if he wants to fight Richie or marry him; The Hot Fireman From LA?!; a local librarian who just wants to read books to children in peace; and, of course, Pennywise the clown.

I Love You, Too || 2019!Reddie X Daughter!Reader
A/N: I combined two requests, cause I wanted to put them together :))) Hope you don’t mind
Request: hi! i absolutely LOVE your writings! especially the daughter!reader ones. i was wondering if i could request something? like where the reader is eddie and richie are married and they adopted a daughter. she’s has a stutter and is picked on for it at school. she comes home one day crying and her dad’s comfort her when she says she hates her stutter and they tell her that it’s not a bad thing and she should embrace it and not be ashamed? just soft family fluff! thank you -Anon
Could you do a semi sweet but angst fic? Richie and Eddie get out of Derry together and get married, adopt a little girl (the reader) and they return to derry with her. She’s around 7/8 years old and penny wise gets her, they go to save her with the rest of the losers but Eddie still dies 🥺 (my baby) but sweet moments of the reader meeting the gang and everything and sweet moments with her papa’s. Sorry if it sounds kind of dumb ❤️❤️❤️ - @spidey-starky
!!WARNING: HOMOPHOBIC SLURS, IT CH2 SPOILERS, BLOOD!!
Tumblr media
***
You were pushed up against your locker, Jacob holding you by your shirt collar. Most people in this situation would maybe yell out for help, try to get someone’s attention. But you were used to it, plus school had ended and barely anyone was still here.
This was a regular occurrence. The name-calling, the mockery, everything that a middle school bully could do, she had seen and heard before. It didn’t affect her anymore.
Jacob would always do this, maybe steal something of yours, typical bullying business. But today, he went too far.
After the school play, Jacob had seen your dads picking you up. He had found that perfect bullying material. A stutter and the daughter of two gays? Perfect victim, he thought.
“Come on, Stuttering Y-Y/N!” He mocked your stutter, as you rolled your eyes. “Aww, is the stuttering joke getting old? Well, how bout we talk about your fag fathers?”
Your eyes widened. Shit.
“You’re probably just like them.” Tears welled in your eyes. “And, hey, that means you’re adopted! Not even your real parents wanted you so they had to hand you over to some fucking gays! So, not only do you have a dumbass fucking stutter, your parents are fucking gay!”
Jacob smirked as he saw the tears dripping down your face. It had taken a while, but finally, he’d found what broke you. You couldn’t speak, too overwhelmed by everything happening so quickly. A part of you wished you were just getting bullied for the stutter.
“I don’t know if you noticed, Stutter Fag, but your kind isn’t appreciated around here.”
He threw you to the ground, as you landed on your nose, causing it to bleed. Jacob walked away, leaving school. You waited till you knew he was gone before grabbing your bag, picking up all the papers that had slipped out.
How long had your dad been waiting out in the parking lot? Checking your watch, you discovered he’d probably been there for at least ten minutes. Shit, he wasn’t gonna be happy…
Running out to the car, you forgot about the blood dripping down your face. You threw your bag into the back of the car, before hopping into the front seat, being met with the concerned face of your father.
“Y/N? What the hell happened to you? Jeez, wait til Eds sees you.” He handed you a few tissues, not noticing as you used them for your eyes and not your nose. He started the car, driving back to your rather large home.
“Y/N?” Your dad placed a hand softly on your knee. “What happened after school today?”
“N-N-Nothing. Just got t-too excited and r-r-ran into a w-wall.”
You could see on his face that he didn’t believe you. Lying to your father wasn’t something you were good at. He raised an eyebrow, which meant that he expected you to keep talking.
“It w-was just J-J-Jacob. H-He stayed a-a-after class a-and, uh, he m-m-m-might have, uh, b-b-bullied me.” You whispered, mentally cursing yourself for stuttering so much.
That stupid fucking stutter was the cause of all your problems.
“Oh, honey, I’m so sorry… Look, right now, we’ll push it aside and talk about it later when Papa Bear is home.” Your dad laughed as your face contorted into disgust. He knew you hated when he called Eddie that.
“All jokes aside, we’ll discuss this later. Just relax, and maybe clean up your nose a bit more.”
***
You sat at the dinner table, eyes glued to the plate in front of you. Eddie’s eyes remained on you, concern etched on his face. Richie, however, simply smiled warmly at you.
“Y/N, baby, you’re awfully quiet,” Eddie spoke, his head tilted slightly in confusion.
“Honey, it’s time to talk.” Richie reminded you of the conversation in the car, and with a sigh, you thought of how to explain the situation.
“Uh, d-dads, after s-s-school today, t-this kid was, u-uh, teasing m-me about m-m-m-my stutter.” You couldn’t tell the whole truth. You couldn’t tell them that. Just the thought of what Jacob said brought tears to your eyes.
The tears began streaming down your face.
Eddie left his seat, pulling you into his arms. You cried into his shoulder, and Richie piled on top. Eddie’s arms were wrapped protectively around you, and Richie rubbed calming circles on your back.
“Your stutter is so perfectly you, baby. You shouldn’t feel ashamed of it. Embrace it.”
Your tears slowed as you heard Richie’s phone ring, his ringtone being that stupid Pina Colada song. At first, he ignored it, staying with you, but by the sixth consecutive ring, you told him to answer it.
“I’m hungry, anyway.” You smiled, wiping the final tears from your face. With a forehead kiss from Eddie and a final hug from Richie, they moved away, Richie answering his phone.
“Yello? Huh? Oh. Right, yeah. Yeah, cool. See you soon, I guess?” His face went white as he hung up the phone, and he ran out of the room. Seconds later you heard him in the bathroom, the sound making you cover your ears. Eddie ran to the bathroom, and you could hear him checking over Richie.
Eddie’s phone rang suddenly, and you picked it off the table, bringing it to the bathroom, where Eddie was helping Richie off the floor, moving him away from the toilet bowl.
“Dad? Your phone is ringing.” You handed the phone to the shorter male, before scurrying back to the table. What the fuck was going on?
They stayed in the bathroom for another ten minutes and when they came back, you knew something was wrong.
“Baby, we need to talk.”
***
Last night at the Chinese restaurant had been an interesting event, to say the least. It had been a long trip to Derry, so you had been half asleep when entering the restaurant. An hour into the dinner, you were on the verge of sleep.
Richie and Eddie were trying so hard to keep you awake, but you were twelve and had been on a plane for five hours, which didn’t seem like much but it was a very rocky flight. Eventually, Richie and Eddie caved and allowed you to fall asleep, leaning against Eddie’s arm.
“She’s adorable,” Beverly said, smiling at the passed out girl. The other Losers hummed in agreement, Richie and Eddie sharing a proud smile.
“H-How long h-h-have you ha-had her?” Bill asked, realising afterwards that maybe he could’ve phrased that differently.
“Since she was only two, actually. So we’ve had her for ten years, now.” Richie pushed the hair out of your eyes, a soft smile on his face.
“Tell us about her.” Stan smiled, his usual demeanour shattered by the precious girl at the table. Everyone at the table was simply enamoured with this little girl.
“Uh, we adopted her a year after we got married.” Eddie grew flustered, as the Losers smirked at him and Richie.
“She’s literally the perfect kid!” Richie chimed in, “She’s got good grades, she doesn’t get involved with anything bad or stupid, and she’s just amazing. We love her so much.”
The other Losers felt like they would burst from the amount of adoration they had for this girl. The night continued on, everyone getting quite drunk, except Stan, who felt the need to be the one sober person.
He was rolling his eyes at Richie and Eddie drunkenly flirting in the corner when he noticed you stirring from your spot on the table. You sat up, blinking a few times, growing accustomed to the fluorescent glow of the lights above.
Stan was the only one to notice you wake up and decided to separate you from the drunken activities.
“Hey, Y/N, how was your sleep?” He asked, loudly, as to maybe alert the others that you were awake.
“Yeah, i-i-it was pretty g-good. I’m no-not as t-tired now.” Stan’s eyes widened in surprise. You had a stutter?
“Oh, honey, you’re awake!’ Richie announced loudly, everyone looking at you and Stan.
“She has a stutter?” Stan asked, and you immediately felt tears brim in your eyes.
Richie and Eddie looked worried, while the others looked intrigued. You felt everyone’s eyes on you, and it was far too much. You ran from the room, your dads calling after you.
“Did I say the wrong thing?” Stan asked worriedly.
“She’s very sensitive about the stutter. She gets bullied a lot. So, we don’t talk about it.” Eddie explained, before running out to find you, Richie not too far behind.
The other Losers turned to Bill, their stuttering friend.
He had an understanding look on his face, having lived with a stutter for so many years of his life. But he had overcome it for so many years, so surely he could help you.
The Losers returned to the table, waiting patiently for Richie and Eddie to return, you by their side. Minutes passed, and no one walked through the door, except for the waitress who placed a bowl of fortune cookies on the table.
Just as she was leaving, a panicked Eddie and Richie came through the door.
But you weren’t with them.
Their faces held panic, fear, and everything in between.
“Guys? Where’s Y/N?” Ben asked, his voice shaky.
“W-we don’t know. We looked everywhere, but we can’t find her.” Eddie started crying, Richie holding him close to his chest.
Mike stepped forward, grabbing Richie by the shoulders. “We’ll find her. She can’t have gone too far. She’s probably in the bathroom.”
“O-oh, yeah. The bathroom.” He only sounded half-convinced, but Richie and Eddie would take anything to put their minds at ease.
“W-we were gi-given fortune c-c-cookies,” Bill suggested quietly.
Everyone sat back at the table, avoiding looking at the empty chair between Eddie and Richie. They all picked up a cookie, one still sitting in the bowl.
They all cracked theirs open, each finding a single piece of paper.
“The hell? Mine just says ‘Time” Richie murmured, the cookies really not distracting him from the disappearance of his daughter.
The others all looked at their fortunes, not noticing Eddie’s shaking hands and terrified expressions.
“W-wait. Give me y-y-your paper.” Bill said as the Losers put their papers down. All except Eddie.
They scuffled about, finding that their words formed a sentence.
“Oh shit. Oh, fuck!” Richie yelled, seeing the sentence forming. He looked over at his husband, begging him for the paper. Eddie held it tighter, but upon seeing the desperate look on his love's face, he placed the paper down.
Tears streamed down his face, as the other saw what was on his paper.
Bye Bye Stuttering Y/N! Time To Float!
“No. No. This isn’t fucking happening. We have to go get her.” Richie stood from his seat, Eddie following.
“No!” Mike yelled. “There’s something we have to do first.”
***
You were floating, but they couldn’t do anything, not yet. First, they had to kill that fucking clown. It hurt Richie and Eddie to just leave you there, floating above the ground, almost dead.
“Hey, fuckface! You wanna play truth or dare? Here’s a truth; You’re a sloppy bitch! Yeah, that’s right. Let’s dance! Yippee-kay-yay motherfuc-” Everyone watched as Richie got caught in the deadlights.
Eddie screamed, but not a frightful scream, it was more of a “back off my husband you bitch” scream. He ran forward, throwing the pole Bev had gave him as hard as possible. It struck Pennywise in the mouth, sending IT backwards, ending up impaled on one of the spikes.
Richie fell to the ground, breathing heavily. What the fuck had he just seen?
Eddie came crashing down on top of him, straddling Richie’s waist. Not an uncommon position for them, but that wasn’t relevant right now. Eddie leaned down, grabbing Richie’s face and slamming their lips together.
Richie closed his eyes, melting as he always did when Eddie kissed him. His eyes opened, however, when the salty taste of Eddie’s lips became metallic. Richie froze, not even flinching when Eddie splurted blood onto his face.
“R-Richie?” Eddie spoke softly, blood trickling down his chin. The pain in his eyes matched that of Richie’s heart. Richie couldn’t look down, because he knew what he would see if he let his eyes travel.
And then he remembered, the first time he had entered this fucking house. The first time he lost Eddie. That fucking demonic version of his love. The fucking black shit that had flowed from his mouth. That image that was identical to this. That motherfucking clown who had planned everything to be like this.
“Eddie? Eddie, love?” His pleas were useless, as Eddie was pulled away from him, and flung about by the clown who ruined every fucking good thing he’d ever had.
IT threw Eddie from its claw, sending him towards the ground, right beneath where you were floating. Fuck, he couldn’t do this.
But he had to.
For Eddie.
And for you.
***
Richie got up from beside Eddie, who was barely alive at this point, but Richie could always see the life in his eyes. Eddie watched him leave through the dancing black spots in his vision.
He could feel the familiar fabric of Richie’s jacket in his hands and found one of his hands in the pocket. His hand brushed against what felt like paper, and with as much strength as he had, slid it out of the jacket.
Unfolding it slowly, he saw a pencil drawing, one that you had done as a very young child. It was of the three of you, smiling, and for a toddler’s drawing, it was extremely good. You had labelled each person, though it was obvious who was who.
Up the top, in messy crayon handwriting, were the words “I love my daddies.” with two pink hearts sloppily drawn at both ends of the sentence.
“I love you too, baby”

Luck Has Nothing to Do With It
This was written as a gift for the winner of my 2K followers giveaway on tumblr! @s-onora asked for some fluffy middle-aged reddie smut with aftercare, I hope I delivered. This was incredibly fun to write and very different from most of the stuff I've put out thus far. I didn't realize how much tooth-rotting fluff could heal my soul. :') Summary: “Richie had won life’s lottery. He’s not sure how it happened, and he certainly had his fair share of bullshit before getting where he is now, but if Richie were asked in this very moment how he felt about his life, he would be confident in saying it was pretty much perfect.” Pairing: Reddie Rating: E Warnings: Smut, explicit language

Richie had won life’s lottery. He’s not sure how it happened, and he certainly had his fair share of bullshit before getting where he is now, but if Richie were asked in this very moment how he felt about his life, he would be confident in saying it was pretty much perfect.
He’s managed to lock down a fairly satisfying career doing standup, though the world of entertainment is always a bit unsteady, he’s made enough friends in the industry that he’s found himself always having something lined up.
He owns a small house in a surprisingly suburban neighborhood. Although he’s located in the big city, he still managed to find the one area that was reminiscent of the small town he’d grown up in.
And finally, the thing that made life even worth living, is that he married his best friend, Eddie Kaspbrak.
Richie knew it was cliche; closeted gay kid has crush on best friend. But the difference between him and a cheesy romcom plot line is that it actually worked out for him. For them. Because unbeknownst to him at the time, Eddie was living the exact same platitude.
It’s not as if things fell into place right away. Richie and Eddie both had their own journeys to fulfill, and unfortunately those journeys pushed them apart for a while. Richie had accepted his sexuality long before Eddie, and it scared him off for a few years. In that time, Richie reeled as he watched Eddie get married to a woman, one as vile as his mother at that, and live a seemingly perfect life.
It took almost a decade for them to screw their heads on the right way and stop denying their life long languish. Of course they stayed in contact because of their friends, consistent in group chats, wishing each other a happy birthday on Facebook once a year, but that was about it… Until Ben and Beverly decided to get married.
That night, Eddie had admitted to Richie that weddings made bile rise up in his throat, reminded him of his own terrible ceremony and everything that had come after it. That night, they had their very first kiss. Their very first confession. It marked the beginning of everything coming together.
Now, merely five years later, Richie got to come home to Eddie every single day. He got to kiss those rounds cheeks, hear that melodic laugh, and listen to that neurotic voice whenever he wanted to, and he’s never been happier.
Today, like most days, wasn’t particularly remarkable, but Richie still strode home with a small hop to his step in anticipation of seeing Eddie. He stopped at a small flower stand on the way, picking up a bouquet of yellow roses that he knew Eddie would turn his nose up at, pivoting around quickly to hide the blush that painted his cheeks. Eddie hated gestures like that, but in the kind of way where he actually loved them.
By the time Richie got to their front door he was practically vibrating with excitement. He was a hopeless romantic who was living in his dream world; who could blame him?
As soon as Richie entered his house his senses searched for any signs of Eddie. He couldn’t see him, or hear him, but he could smell something coming from the kitchen that gave him good enough of a clue to check there first.
Toeing off his shoes, he placed them gently on the rack inside the coat closet (one of Eddie’s house rules was that Richie had to tone down his messiness to a slightly less chaotic level.) Richie rocketed down the hallway and used his now sock clad feet to slide across the linoleum floor of the kitchen, only regretting it slightly when he slid too far and his hip bone collided with the counter.
His impact was what alerted Eddie to Richie’s presence, the smaller man reacting with a jump and a small scolding of Richie’s name.
“Sorry Eds, didn’t mean to startle you.” Richie couldn’t say it with a straight face, his smile no doubt making his apology seem insincere, but he knew Eddie didn’t mind.
Richie strode forward, meeting Eddie in the middle of the kitchen and presenting the bouquet of flowers to him. As expected, Eddie scoffed and immediately moved to turn away, but Richie caught his chin and pulled him into a kiss instead. He felt Eddie melt beneath him, probably melted a bit himself if he was honest, and when he pulled away that familiar blush was there to validate him; roses were a good idea.
He placed the bouquet on the counter, making a mental note to put them in a vase as soon as he was done soaking up his boyfriend’s attention.
“Wacha making? Smells good.” Richie noted, coming up behind Eddie and wrapping his arms around his waist.
“It was supposed to be a lasagna, but it’s looking more like charred volcanic rock.”
“Mmm, I’ve always wanted to expand my taste buds.”
“Well this won’t do anything but destroy your taste buds.” Eddie admonished.
The timer rang out, signaling the end of the lasagna’s cook time. Richie peered over at their (admittedly, probably too old) oven, and back at Eddie with a cocked eyebrow. “I guess it’s time to find out.” Richie smirked.
Eddie unstuck himself from Richie and turned everything off. He grabbed the oven mitts Mike had bought them for Christmas, cute little pieces designed to look like turtles, and pulled his dish out of the oven.
He set it on the stovetop with a clunk, and Richie gathered beside him to gaze down at the very sad looking pasta dish.
Somehow it was burnt and soupey at the same time, but Eddie had put so much effort into it, so Richie still pulled a small piece of noodle off the top and popped it in his mouth.
It was hard enough to imitate uncooked pasta, and it had an ash-like taste that reminded Richie of the times Bev and him used to sneak behind their school and share a cigarette she’d smuggled from her aunt’s purse, but as he continued to chew it seemed to dissolve into goo.
But still, he smiled, cheery as ever as he gazed down at a hopeful Eddie.
“You’re gonna die from food poisoning.” Eddie said worriedly.
“In that case, can we make tonight memorable?” Richie joked, pressing himself into the slot against Eddie’s back that allowed him to rest his head on that tiny shoulder. With no response from Eddie, he nosed at his cheek and added “It wasn’t that bad”.
“Shut up.” Eddie grumbled.
“Seriously! I mean it’s no chinese food but-”
“We can’t order chinese food every night Richie.”
“How do you know? Has a man ever tested that theory?”
Eddie crossed his arms over his chest stubbornly, pouting in the way he always did when trying to seem serious.
“Fine, I’ll find something else to eat then.” Richie rocked them back and forth slowly, dipping down and trailing light kisses along Eddie’s neck. “Something sexier.” Richie whispered into Eddie’s ear.
Eddie snorted, turning himself around in Richie’s arms and draping his own over Richie’s shoulders.
“My boyfriend thinks I’m sexier than lasagna, I’m flattered.”
Richie grabbed Eddie’s ass playfully, pulling him flush against his chest.
“Just wait until you hear my dirty talk.” Richie teased. They both fell into lighthearted giggles, Eddie letting himself relax into Richie’s hold. Richie moved his hands up to the small of Eddie’s back, rubbing gentle circles into the exposed skin where Eddie’s shirt had rode up.
“Well, let’s hear it then.” Eddie whispered lowly, peering up at Richie with mischief.
It didn’t take long for them to find themselves back in bed, tangled up in each other’s limbs. Richie had made good on his promise and was indulging himself in Eddie’s body, writhing into the bed for the friction he so desperately craved.
Richie loved a lot of things about Eddie; he loved the way Eddie's eyes would crinkle at the sides when he laughed, loved the small dimples in Eddie's lower back that he could trace with his fingers, loved the subtle bow in Eddie's legs that even he didn't notice, but Richie had been fixated on since they were children. So it was hard for Richie to say exactly what his favorite part of Eddie was, but it was no secret that Eddie's ass was a strong contender.
Eddie, unbeknownst to himself, was built like a god. His hips flared out into large globes that sloped down like scoops of ice cream beckoning Richie to take a bite. It drove Richie crazy, and it would probably be the cause of his (future) insanity if he wasn't able to indulge in his obsession. Luckily, Eddie liked getting his ass played with just as much as Richie liked playing with it.
Richie parted Eddie's cheeks gently, always handling him with care even in their rougher times. He got lost momentarily, staring at the pink pucker that had once been so forbidden, only allowed to be fantasized in Richie's shameful dreams. Eddie, however, was having none of Richie's preamble, and made sure Richie knew as much by pushing his hips back and whining impatiently.
Richie couldn't help but chuckle before obliging, leaning in to lick a hot stripe across Eddie's hole.
He earned an appraising moan in return. Grinning to himself, he went in for more. Eddie may have been the one receiving pleasure, but Richie got off on it just as much, if not more. He could probably cum just like this, completely untouched, just devouring Eddie's little body bit by bit. But he was only getting started.
He brought his index finger up to join his mouth, teasing Eddie's entrance with slight pressure. He alternated between his tongue and his finger, assaulting the area in waves. He'd prod at Eddie's hole with his finger while his tongue trailed up his perineum, then switch to fucking Eddie with his tongue while his hand idly worked his cock. It was a process that eventually left Eddie exactly how he wanted him: completely pliant and pleading.
Richie reached into their nightstand, easily grabbing their bottle of lubricant and bringing it to his side. He pumped it into his hand a couple times, coating his fingers generously before moving back down to his target, but a small hand stopped him.
“Rich…” Eddie started, voice wavering self consciously. Richie already knew what Eddie was gearing up to say. They’d been here many times before, but Eddie still got nervous when asking. Richie thought it was endearing that Eddie was still so shy about it.
“You wanna top?” Richie filled in the silence, making it a little easier for Eddie to get into it.
Eddie nodded, looking up at Richie through thick lashes and adding quickly “Only if you want to. I don’t mind bottoming if you’re not in the mood tonight”.
“And pass up a chance to get fucked by my literal wet dream of a man?” Richie used his lubed up hand to stroke Eddie’s cock, watching the sinful way Eddie’s eyes rolled back in his head at the extra stimulation.
Richie crowded into Eddie’s space, stilling his hand on the head of the flushed dick in his hold and only using his thumb to dip into the slit and rub through the pre-cum gathered there.
Richie was already practically in Eddie’s lap, so he took advantage of the position and splayed his legs out over Eddie’s, leaning back into the mattress with his forearm propping him up as the other snaked between his legs. He could feel the way Eddie’s thighs twitched under his own where their legs overlapped, but he stayed still, enthralled by the show Richie was about to put on.
He circled his own hole the way he did Eddie’s, only he didn’t tease himself or draw the process out like he would on his boyfriend. No, instead, he wasted no time in pushing one finger into himself straight up to the knuckle.
He heard Eddie’s shaky exhale and was empowered to continue. Richie wasn’t a stranger to this feeling; even when he topped Eddie usually had a finger in him, and Richie often played with himself while masturbating. However, he didn’t normally move this fast... but then again he didn’t normally have the promise of his boyfriend’s dick in his ass so today wasn’t a normal day.
Richie rocked down on his finger, relishing in the mild stretch. He continued to hump into his hand until he felt ready to add another finger, and that’s where he began to lose control.
The second finger felt mind-numbing, stirring up Richie’s consciousness until it was putty, his brain losing control only second to the feeling of pleasure he was chasing. He scissored his fingers, trying to open himself up as quickly as possible while still respecting his body’s limits.
“I love seeing you like this…” Eddie whispered, quiet enough that Richie wondered if he even meant to say it aloud.
“Yeah?” Richie goaded, spreading his legs a little bit further. “Like seeing me open myself up for you, baby?”
Eddie nodded, swallowing audibly in a way that made his adam's apple bob. Richie suddenly wanted to leave marks all over it.
“Come here.” Richie reached for Eddie's neck, pulling him down on top of him and going straight for that tantalizing neck. Richie’s legs ended up pushed up against his chest, a position that was sure to leave him with back issues in the morning, but for the moment it felt deliciously provocative.
As Richie marked Eddie up, he felt another hand join his own, teasing around his rim and making it very hard for him to concentrate on the hickies he was leaving. Before the fog could clear from his mind, Eddie was swatting Richie’s hand away, replacing it with three fingers of his own.
Richie cried out into Eddie’s collarbone, petering off into a wanton moan as the feeling of being split open traveled up his cock and down his legs. Eddie’s fingers were so much better than his own, working him open with precision that came from years of doing it to himself.
And then Eddie found his prostate, and Richie was pretty sure it was a self destruct button that caused the rest of his functioning brain to melt into sludge and pour out his ears.
He was gone, absolutely and completely subservient to Eddie’s touch. He could hear himself babbling, but wasn’t aware of what was coming out of his mouth. If he had to guess, it was probably garbled praise. Richie never could hold himself back from telling Eddie how good he made Richie feel.
“Please, Richie-” Eddie was breathing hard, his fingers moving double time inside Richie’s quickly stiffening body.
“Get your fucking cock in my ass now.” Richie ground out between clenched teeth.
Eddie replaced his fingers with his slicked up cock, moving the hand that had wound Richie up so tight to his hypersensitive dick. The touch made Richie hiss, but his jaw quickly fell open as Eddie pushed in, holding Richie tight at the base to keep him from cumming prematurely.
They both shuttered, a moment of pure bliss enveloping them. Eddie finally looked up to meet Richie’s eyes, want and hunger meeting love and devotion. Richie pulled him down into a searing kiss, moaning into Eddie’s mouth when he started moving his hips.
“You feel so good.” Eddie slurred against Richie’s lips. “So warm and tight, fuck Richie.”
Eddie was the perfect size to fill Richie up and hit all the right places. Each thrust let his cock rub up at a different angle, stimulating every nerve from Richie’s rim all the way up to his prostate. The sensation drove him wild, but what would be the death of him was the way Eddie looked hunched over him.
He could still see features of that young boy he fell in love with; the button of his nose, those big doe eyes, thin pink lips, and freckles that had no business being as cute as they were. But while Eddie had retained his cuteness factor, he’d also grown to be incredibly sexy. His chin had broadened, jaw getting stronger and cheekbones more defined. The loss of his baby fat had revealed new things for Richie to obsess over, and when he was leaning over Richie like this, sweat collected on his furrowed brow and tongue caught between his lips, Richie had a hard time keeping his obsessions at bay.
“How are you so fucking beautiful?” Richie murmured, not expecting a response.
Eddie picked up his pace, spurred on by Richie’s words. Richie had promised Eddie dirty talk, and he planned to deliver, no matter how difficult it was to form words while Eddie worked him towards orgasm.
“I love watching your cock slide into me, ahhhh, love the way you stretch me out.”
“God, Rich-” Eddie’s breath was speeding up, his pants becoming quicker with every thrust.
“Look at how well you work me over.”
Eddie’s eyes were screwed shut, his nostrils flared as he tried to slow himself down, but Richie didn’t want that. Richie wanted to watch Eddie come undone inside him.
“Look.” Richie repeated more insistently, squeezing Eddie’s thigh.
Eddie’s eyes popped open and immediately honed in on the spot where they were connected. He shuttered reflexively, a drawn out moan escaping him.
“Rich- I’m gonna cum, please-”
Richie snaked his hand down to his cock and began jerking it with abandon, giving Eddie the nod to let go.
Barely a few thrusts later and Eddie was emptying into Richie. He continued to pound into him even when his body went taut, moving through the stiffness to bring Richie to his own release.
The stimulation was overwhelming, Richie could feel the press of Eddie’s cock hammering into his prostate, the slide of his hand over his own cock, but what finally sent him over the edge was the feeling of Eddie’s cum seeping out of his hole as Eddie continued ramming into him.
Richie came with a quiet scream, his back arching as he tried to both get away from the feeling and get impossibly closer at the same time. He was wracked with emotion, tears flowing freely and a sob escaping him as he came down hard from the rush of endorphins.
Eddie pulled out of Richie, quickly crawling into his arms and shushing him with a soothing voice.
It wasn’t uncommon for Richie to cry after sex, so Eddie continued doing what he always did; staying close and making sure Richie knew he was there. Light touches, gentle whispers, anything to remind Richie that it was okay to feel overwhelmed.
It took a couple minutes for Richie to calm down, but his sobs slowly turned into sniffles and his arms eventually wrapped around Eddie.
“Have I told you I love you yet today?” Richie asked quietly, a dopey smile on his face.
“Three times this morning, twice at lunch, and once during downtime after your show.” Eddie counted off teasingly.
“Keeping track?”
Eddie rolled his eyes, burying his face back into Richie’s chest.
“I just like hearing it.” Eddie defended, voice half muffled.
“I like saying it.” Richie responded assuredly, placing a kiss atop the pillowy curls below him.
“I love you too.” Eddie murmured, the words coming out in a sigh of contentment.
“I’m so lucky to have you.” Richie whispered, his chest heavy with happiness.
“Luck has nothing to do with it; we were always going to end up together.”

im sliding in after a week of inactivity with some Thoughts
unsurprisingly, its about fem reddie and Comp Het Boyfriends (tm)
as you all know they live in my brain rent free, and i was thinkin’ about how often in teenage fics, specifically, we see fem Eddie with a boyfriend. And, it just got me thinking about how it might apply with my own characterizations and I wanted to kind of discuss my thoughts about some good ol’ high school gals
so first of all, I don’t think Eddie would be the one to get a boyfriend. I think she’d be the type to assume she’s too focused on school to be interested in guys you know? She figures she doesn’t find a boyfriend to be a compelling idea because she’s much too invested in grades and track (and Richie but she doesn’t know that yet). Dare i say, Comp Het Studying. (being 12 like: “oh i dont want to date until after college :)” no bitch ur gay )
Anyways, then on top of that, I think her mom would actually try to discourage Eddie from getting a boyfriend. A boyfriend means growing up, leaving the nest, Eddie becoming her own person. It would be an element in her life Sonia couldn’t control (unless she sets it up herself, which is where Eddies college boyfriend and then husband comes into play years later), so she absolutely uses fear tactics to keep Eddie away from boys too.
RICHIE on the other hand? I think by at least 14 she’d understand that she’s attracted to girls. Freshman and sophomore year there’s no boy and the rumors are pretty fucking bad, but she thinks having to kiss a boy would be much much worse so she puts up with it and sticks with the Losers.
Richie is straight up so fucking insecure though, y’all, which is the main reason I think she’d be a lot more likely to slip into the I Need A Boyfriend To Prove To Myself And/Or Others That I Like Men category. And of course Eddie is anxious, but i think post clown teen Eddie would be more confident in herself, and writing on the bathroom stall doesn’t bother her as much as it does Richie. So after a particularly bad incident with a bully early junior year, Richie gets with the first creep to call her pretty, and I think y’all know the gist from there.
but here’s a concept that i wasn’t sure if it should get its own post but i ended up deciding just to tack it onto this one: Connor Bowers.
I think this character is used perfectly well in genderbend fics as Connie in the arcade! I think most lesbians can relate to that fear of making other girls uncomfortable, it’s terrifying to think that any one of our friends could turn on us as soon as we so much as pat their shoulder. But what if instead of being a girl feeding into a rumor, Connor was a boy who didn’t much like that Richie didn’t reciprocate a crush. Combine his - ahem - familial ties with Richie’s insecurity and you get an absolute recipe for disaster. Not only is Connor just straight up mean to her, but then she’s trapped there by the looming threat of Henry and the possible resurgence of homophobic bullies. She absolutely does not tell the Losers anything more than that he likes her and she’s happy.
Connor concept aside, In the end I think it’d be Ben who busts The Boyfriend. She’d probably notice a lot of the initial signs of verbal and emotional abuse, and then later get her proof when she hears Richie, in an incredibly self deprecating joke, directly quote some bullshit Ben overheard Mr.Asshat say to her in the halls. She tells Stan who tells Mike and they first hold a Losers meeting without Richie to figure out the next course of action and talk Bev, Eddie, and Bill (who were suspicious themselves but did not want to cause any unintentional harm until there was proof) down from fist fighting the guy, and then they hold one with Richie to tell her they know and they’d like to help and THEN they can go fist fight him in a parking lot

Thanks for the prompt anon! Sorry this took so long to write~college is a bitch at the moment but I finally had a break to write. Feedback as always is really appreciated, whether it’s good or bad.
@g-ay-gatsby cuz you always want me to tag you in reddie stuff :P
Richie awoke in a cold sweat. He glanced over at his husband, shirtless, fast asleep with his face down next to him on the bed they shared. Their shiba inu lay down by the end of the bed, wagging his tiny fluffy tail back and forth at the sight of Richie standing up to get dressed. Richie grinned at the dog, a soft, tired grin and pat his fluffy head in greeting. He heard loud shouts and calls from outside their apartment window, and almost cursed out loud at them to quiet down less they wake up his beautiful sleeping husband.
“Fucking bastards.” He grumbled.
“Who you calling bastard?” Eddie mumbled into his pillow.
Richie moved a piece of hair from his husband’s face and forced himself to smile.
“It’s nothing, Eds. Go back to sleep, baby.”
“It’s that stupid new advertisement across the street right Rich?”
Rich clenched his jaw. He didn’t want to admit what he felt deep down inside him, that the circus was the last thing he wanted to come across on the way to work.
“It’s nothing Eds.” Richie repeated, more sternly this time, suggesting he didn’t want to talk about it, even to Eddie.
Eddie dropped the subject, picking up his head from his pillow, his eyes still droopy from sleep.
“Why don’t we go downtown today?” Eddie suggested, getting slowly to his feet. “It’ll get us away for a while.”
Richie smiled down at his husband, dipping down and kissing the top of his head.
“Good idea, spaghetti man.”
“Be more original with your pet names, sweetie.” Eddie teased, slipping an arm into a white button up shirt.
“Shut up, Edward.”
“Bite me, Trashmouth.”
“Maybe I will!”
Richie and Eddie locked eyes and they grinned at each other before Eddie removed himself from the trance, smacking his husband on the thigh with the back of his hand.
“C’mon, get dressed and we’ll get going.”
“I’m going, I’m going.” Richie fake groaned, pulling blue jeans over his gray boxers.
When they were all dressed and ready to go, they walked out the front door, holding each other’s hands unapologetically.
They got pretty close to where their car was parked in the apartment complex’s parking lot before they were bombarded by a young man in full clown makeup. He was holding a red balloon in one hand and a poster in the other. He came up to them rather quickly, spouting his sales pitch for the new circus opening across the street from their apartment complex.
“Hello there sirs! Have you heard about the new circus opening up behind you? We know it’ll be an awesome, fun time! We got balloons, clowns, acrobats of all kinds. Why not try going to a show?” The man thrusted the poster into Richie and Eddie’s faces.
Richie immediately froze in place at the sight of the red balloon the man was holding. Everything he’d seen in Derry, all the comments about his sexuality, the stupid fucking clown that had terrorized his childhood, all the memories flooded over him at once and he could barely breathe. His hands went to his ears to drown out any and all noise, but the familiar creepy laugh of Pennywise the dancing clown filled them nonetheless.
 “Wanna play truth or dare?”
He heard those same words from his last encounter with Pennywise ring in his ears, causing panic to rise within him. His throat felt deathly dry, as if he was lost in a desert without any sign of water. He felt himself start to shake before everything started to phase in and out of focus. He wasn’t sure if he needed to throw up or scream.
He was rooted to the spot, thinking of nothing else besides the trauma he’d suffered as a kid and as an adult: how he’d almost lost Eddie to the clown, how his friends had fixed up Ben after he’d been slashed by the clown, how they’d lost Stan in the sewers and he was almost devoured by the clown, the image of Bill’s little brother Georgie’s raincoat the only thing Bill had of him because of that damn clown.
And then there was Henry fucking Bowers...
It was all too much for him. Richie couldn’t even go into basements or certain kinds of bathrooms without freaking out, and now there was a guy reminding him of the exact thing that he’d been afraid of since middle school. It wasn’t just the threat of dying from a demon fucking clown. It was the kids bullying him about him being a fl*mer, dressing up as the clown just to torment him and call him the f word. It was everything that had to do with the stupid fucking clown. It’d terrorized his friends, and he’d almost lost two of them to that stupid fucking clown.
He didn’t even register Eddie telling off the guy until he realized he was back sitting on their shared bed. He buried his face in his hands, crying softly, every once in a while those cries turning into body-rocking sobs that left him shaking with emotion. Eddie just held him and rubbed his back softly, waiting for an opportunity to reassure him verbally, as right now Richie was too wracked with sobs to be able to hear anything Eddie could say to him.
“Hey, hey,” Eddie whispered after a long time of Richie just crying and shaking. “The clown is gone, Rich. We killed the fucker. I’m here, Stan’s still here, all the losers are still here. I saved you and you saved me back. We’re here together. We fucking survived it all, Richie. I told you I loved you that day. Think of that instead. Do you hear me? I love you. I’m here, babe.”
Richie kept crying, wiping at the snot and tears spilling down his face. Though he brightened slightly when Eddie spoke, he still felt an overwhelming amount of fear wash over him like a wave pool, each wave worse than the last. He just kept shaking and muttering to himself and crying on and off, unable to shake the amount of panic that filled his very being.
Eddie held him tighter, gripping his shoulders to try and steady him as his body shook violently along with his sobs. Richie just couldn’t get himself together. He just kept thinking about how he’d almost lost Eddie, how he’d lived in fear of the demon clown and being outed his entire life, and even now that he was happy and with the love of his life, he couldn’t forget that awful part of his life that he tried so hard to bury deep, deep, deep down within himself and never drag back out. But the man dressed as a clown outside across from their home had managed to destroy his well-kept wall in one fell swoop, leaving Richie a giant vulnerable mess.
“It’s okay, Rich. Hey, hey, look at me.” Eddie picked up his husband’s face in his hands and forced him to look him in the eye, despite the tears pouring from his eyes.
“We’re safe now baby. I’m okay. I’m here now. I saved you and you saved me, remember? We got together that day. Remember that? Come on baby, think.” Eddie pulled a tissue box from his night stand by their bed and offered it to Richie.
Richie sniffled, taking a tissue from Eddie to wipe his tear-soaked face.
“Best day of my life.” Richie replied, his voice soft but somehow still confident.
“There ya go.” Eddie told him, holding him close toward himself and squeezing him tight. “What did you say to me?”
Richie forced himself to laugh, even though his chest felt like an dry, empty cavern from crying. He coughed hard and loud but made himself chuckle again. Eddie fetched him a glass of water, making sure not to leave his husband’s side for too long as he knew that right now Richie needed his comfort more than anything.
“I didn’t even say anything. I was so relieved that you were...that you were---” Richie’s voice shook and he started crying again.
“No no no, baby, Richie, come on. What did you do?”
“I kissed you so hard.” Richie sobbed. “I kissed you as soon as we got out of Neibolt house because I was so happy that we had survived and I wanted to ask you to marry me right then and there but I didn’t. I was too scared you were gonna hate me ‘cause I just fucking kissed you out of literally nowhere.”
Eddie smiled so wide he felt tears begin to form in his own eyes.
“Yeah, I had to do that for you, ya coward.” Eddie teased lightly. Richie shoved him lightly in return.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah. You get credit for proposing before me for the rest of our marriage okay? Stop reminding me of the one win I missed out on!”
Eddie was relieved to hear Richie’s sass return to his voice, even if it was quiet and more reserved than usual.
“Hey, wanna stay in bed and watch netflix or maybe I can read to you from that book?”
“You mean Brokeback Mountain? That’s pretty gay of you Eds.”
“We’re literally married, Rich. We’re two married gay men.”
“I know. I just--I just had to get you to say it.”
Richie looked at the ground again, and Eddie worried Richie was getting lost in his triggering thoughts again. He moved to cup his husband’s face with his hands holding his cheeks tightly in order to place a kiss on Richie’s soft lips.
Even after all these years, Richie was still surprised to get kisses from Eddie. When he did though, they were always full of passion and genuine love. He wasn’t sure how he didn’t burst into tears every time he got to kiss Eddie Kaspbrak. Afterall, he’d been his childhood crush for as long as he could remember. He didn’t know what he did to deserve someone like him, someone who would take care of him when his mental health got the better of him.
“Thanks for always taking care of me Eddie,” Richie told him after a moment of silence between them. “I mean it. Thank you.”
Eddie just smiled at him.
“You helped me first with my asthma. I should be thanking you.”
It was Richie who kissed Eddie then. The kiss turned into a more passionate but sweet one, Eddie holding Richie’s face in his hands again, refusing to let him go. Richie doing the same, wrapping his arms around Eddie’s neck and holding him close enough so that their heartbeats thumped on top of each other.
“I love you Eddie Spaghetti.” Richie declared when they finally pulled apart for air.
“I love you too, Richie Tozier.”

I Will Rearrange the Stars, Pull Them Down To Where You Are

* * * * *
When the constant, erratic buzzing of a phone against the nightstand woke Richie up at six in the morning, he knew it wasn't good. "Ugh, fuck." He groaned, rubbing his eyes and feeling around for his glasses on the nightstand. Once he could actually see, he swiftly grabbed the phone so that the loud vibrations of it against wood wouldn't also wake Eddie, who was starting to stir a little. "Shh." He passed his fingers through Eddie's hair, to settle him again, and stood up with a sigh of relief, leaving the room to go downstairs to the kitchen.
He sat down at the kitchen island, dialing his agent's number and holding the phone to his ear. The call was picked up almost immediately. "Hey, Matthew. What's going on? My phone's blowing up like crazy." There were a few moments of silence on the other end, and then,
"You haven't seen?"
"No, I just woke up. What do you mean?"
"I think you should probably check twitter."
Richie went to grab his laptop from the coffee table in the living room and brought it back to the kitchen island, opening it up and going straight to twitter. His stomach swooped when he arrived at the issue, which happened to be a very big one. His timeline was plastered with a picture of him and Eddie standing in the street outside a club the night before. Whatever member of the paparazzi took the picture seemed to have caught them at the right time, because under any other circumstance, Richie would appreciate how happy they looked.
In it, Richie's hands were tucked into Eddie's back pockets, and Eddie was standing on his tiptoes, so that he could press their foreheads together. His hands were around the back of Richie's neck, holding him close. It was a bit hard to tell because the photo was taken with only the help of a street lamp near them as lighting, but they were both smiling, perhaps in the middle of drunken laughing.
Damn it, how had the paparazzi found them? They had decided they'd go to a secluded part of Los Angeles, where there was a little nightclub Richie had been going to for years to let loose and stay out of the press at the same time. Perhaps, one of the staff members had tipped the paparazzi off? He supposed it didn't really matter anymore, it was out.
"Rich? You there?" Matthew's voice came through the receiver and reminded Richie that he was still on a call. He set his phone down on the counter, putting it onto loud speaker so that he could take his glasses off and run his hands over his face.
"Yeah, I'm here." He mumbled, scrolling down his timeline, full of fans discussing the picture and what it meant. "I just don't understand how this happened, we were careful."
"We can track down the person that took the picture, press charges if you want. This is an invasion of your privacy. We can make the picture go away." Matthew told him, he sounded sympathetic, and while Richie appreciated it, he knew that nothing could be done at this point.
He shook his head, forgetting that Matthew couldn't see him, "No, it doesn't matter now. It's too late, it's trending, everyone's seen it." He felt horrible, Eddie was going to be so upset.
"I'm so sorry, Rich." There was silence on both ends for maybe half a minute, and then Matthew spoke up, "Is it serious? You and the guy in the picture?" Richie was surprised that he didn't bring up the fact that it wasn't a woman he was with in the picture, and he was grateful that he wasn't making a big deal out of his undisclosed sexuality.
Richie couldn't help but smile, thinking of the man asleep upstairs in their bedroom. "Uh, yeah, it is. His name's Eddie. See, the thing is, um, we're married."
"Wait... what? Holy shit, Rich! You got married? When?" He expected Matthew to be annoyed at him for keeping something like that from him, because in retrospect maybe it would've been a good idea to tell him, but he just sounded bewildered, even excited at this new information.
"Yeah, we got married... four months ago."
"Is that why you took a break and disappeared back in June?"
"Well, partly, I guess —I didn't leave with the intention of getting married. I had to go back to my home town in Maine, to um, take care of some stuff there. I met with my group of childhood friends, one of them being Eddie, and I guess it just brought up old feelings that I realised had actually always been there, even when we lost touch. A lot of stuff happened, and it lead to me telling Eddie how I feel, and it turned out that he feels the same.
We talked about it, and realised that we'd already lost so much time that we could've spent together over the years, so we just decided to get married right then to make up for the lost time. I took him to Vegas so we didn't have to get married in our shitty home town." Richie laughed, "Not even sure they'd have allowed us to get married there. But yeah, anyway, we got married and he moved in with me here once my break was over."
He heard Matthew exhale on the other end of the line, chuckling softly out of what he assumed was astonishment. "Woah, Rich, that's amazing. Congratulations, I'm really happy for you."
"Thanks, Matthew, that means a lot to me." The great thing about Matthew was that when Richie was talking to him, it didn't feel like he was talking to his agent, it felt like he was just talking to a friend —a really good one.  "So, do you think I should address it? The picture? What's the best thing to do in this circumstance?"
"I know I'm your agent and I'm meant to tell you what to do in situations like this, but honestly? I think it's up to you this time. This is something really important to you, not one of the many ludicrous rumours the press are always ready to start. I'm sure you'll want to talk to Eddie about it, and you guys can decide yourself. Whatever you decide to do, I'm here for you no matter what the result of your choice is."
At the mention of Eddie's name, Richie began to hear movement from upstairs, and he took the phone off speaker, picking it up to hold it against his ear. "Okay, I'll discuss it with Eddie and figure out what to do. And don't worry, I'll let you know what's happening before I do anything." The bedroom door opens upstairs, "Hey, I think Eddie just woke up upstairs, is it okay if I call you back later?"
"Of course, Richie. Good luck, bye."
"Thanks, talk to you later."
Richie shut the laptop when he heard footsteps descending the stairs, and then the soft padding of bare feet approaching the kitchen. He swivelled around in the kitchen island seat to be met with the site of Eddie in a large sweater of Richie's that almost swallowed him whole. His bare legs were on show, and his hair was a little tousled from sleep and curling at the tips. "You're up early." Eddie remarked, walking up to stand between Richie's legs. He slipped Richie's glasses from his nose and placed them on the counter, before cupping his face, pressing softhearted kisses to his cheeks, and then one to his mouth.
For a few moments, Richie completely forgot about the issue at hand. Eddie usually had that effect on him, he made everything feel like it was okay. He hummed quietly, and when Eddie pulled away, he chased his lips, bringing him back in by the careful grip he had on the back of Eddie's neck. "Mm, love you, Eds." He murmured when their lips departed with a soft pop, and Eddie opened his eyes, simpering down at him.
"I love you too, Rich." Eddie slipped his hands under Richie's t-shirt, his hands coming to rest on the taller man's love handles, his thumbs rubbing his skin sweet-temperedly. "So, what are you doing up at this time? You're usually asleep for a few more hours, are you writing new material?"
Suddenly Richie was back in reality and he frowned, reaching for his glasses and putting them back on. "Eds, I need to talk to you about something. Come sit with me." Richie picked up his laptop, and took Eddie's hand into his own, leading him to the sofa. He left the laptop on the coffee table and guided Eddie into his lap, curling his arms around his waist. "Just before I tell you, I want to make sure that you know you don't have to worry about anything, okay?" Eddie looked confused, but nodded slowly anyway. Richie sighed, "Last night, some paparazzi saw us outside the club, took a photo of us and leaked it."
Eddie's eyes widened, and his breath seemed to leave for a second, "Wait, what? What picture? Are you sure?"
"Yeah, Eds, I'm sure. I have no idea how this happened. This isn't the way I wanted to tell people."
Eddie leaped up from Richie's lap and opened the laptop which was already opened on twitter, and he almost completely froze up at the sight of the offending picture all over the screen. "Oh, God." He turned back to look at Richie, a panicked look in his eyes, "What are we gonna do, Richie?"
"Hey, hey, come here, baby. It's okay," Richie grabbed his hand, the other on his cheek. "We can handle this in whatever way you want to, I know this isn't what you wanted, it's not what I wanted either, and I'm so sorry that it happened." Eddie didn't say anything for a few minutes, Richie had to assume he was just processing.
"It's not your fault, Rich, I just, um, it feels really... alien? In just a few minutes I went from having seven people in my life knowing I'm gay to having millions knowing I'm in a relationship with you. I've kept it hidden for so long, what do I do now that everyone knows?" Eddie pressed his forehead to Richie's chest, and soon enough he felt lithe fingers stroking his hair.
Richie kissed the crown of his head, "Well, Eds, I talked to my agent and he says that it's up to us in this situation. We've just been outed to the world, I don't think there's just one way to deal with this. We can ignore it or address it, whatever you want. I'll be happy with whatever you're comfortable with."
"Really? Are you sure? Because if you—"
"Really, I mean it. We've got each other, I know that we can work through whatever comes next, alright?" Richie tilted Eddie's chin up so that their eyes met, to make sure Eddie was listening to him, "I love you, and that's more important than anything."
Eddie rubbed his nose against Richie's, kissing him on the mouth, over and over. "I love you, too." He climbed onto Richie, wrapping one arm around Richie's back and his legs around his torso, his other hand cupping the back of Richie's neck, pulling him in closer, "Now, kiss me, please. I wanna forget this for a few minutes."
-
Two days later, a new picture was trending, yet another of Richie and Eddie. Only this time, it was one they'd wanted people to see. Richie had posted it to both instagram and twitter, captioning it both times with 'ain't he cute? ;)' and tagged Eddie in it.
Richie took the picture the morning after the paparazzi incident, when they were still lying in bed. It was taken in the middle of a pleasant moment, Richie grinning at the camera as Eddie laughed into his neck, clearly amused at whatever he had said. Eddie's hand laying on Richie's chest, his silver wedding band visible on his ring finger and it was a little harder to tell, but just off to the right of the picture, barely in the frame, was Richie's hand around Eddie's shoulder, and a wedding band was just noticeable there, too. He decided to wait until the next day when they were sure they wanted to post it.
The replies to the posts were overwhelmingly positive, congratulating them and questioning the wedding rings, and even though there were a few homophobes lurking, Richie nor Eddie could bring themselves to care. The whole situation felt too freeing for them to let some bigot drag them down.
"Hey Mike, hey Bill, how are you guys?" Richie grinned once he answered the Skype call, the faces of two of his best friends appearing on the screen. "Eds, come downstairs! Mike and Bill are calling!" He shouted upstairs, and almost immediately heard quick footsteps on the stairs.
"Oh! Hey guys, I'm so glad to see your faces! How are you?" Eddie gushed as he came to sit next to Richie at the counter, pushing his chair closer to Richie's so that they would both be in the frame. Richie slipped his hand into Eddie's and leaned his cheek against his husband's shoulder.
"We're really good, thanks. We're in Florida, right now, just landed yesterday." Mike told them, and Bill nodded next to him, they both looked so excited, so content. It was comforting to see them like that, to see that they were both finally happy after all this time.
Eddie gasped, "God, that's great! I remember you always wanted to go there. Is it what you hoped it would be?"
"It is, it's better than I thought it would be. Bill's here, too, which is a bonus." Mike glanced to Bill, seeming satisfied with the blush blooming across his skin. Bill chuckled softly, looking away but still holding his hand out for Mike to take.
"Wow, guys, didn't pin you as the sappy type," Richie remarked, causing Bill to scoff.
"A-As if you can talk, Rich! I have l-like an e-e-entire lifetime of memories to show that n-no one is more sappy than you!" The author retorted, and Richie just shrugged, tilting his head up just slightly to repeatedly peck Eddie's cheek with his lips, wrapping his arms around his waist. "Speaking of, how are you two doing? You know, with everything that's happened in the past few days."
"Actually, we're really great, right, Eds?"
"Yeah! Obviously, I was horrified when the paparazzi posted that picture everywhere, but it feels kind of nice to not have to put in so much effort to hide such a big part of my life from people. Not exactly the way I wanted to tell people, same with Rich, but I guess, on the bright side, I don't have to overthink how I'm gonna come out." Richie loved how Eddie always looked for a silver lining, always made everything seem better. "And it seems like the majority of people are really supportive, so it's a bit easier to ignore any negative reaction because of that."
"I'm so happy for you two, you deserve to be happy." Mike sighed, "It's satisfying to see you guys like this after watching you flirt and dance around each other for our entire childhood. I think we can speak for Bev, Ben, and Stan too when I say that we were all waiting for it." Bill nodded in agreement.
"Thank you so much, guys, and the same to you, you deserve to be happy together."
The rest of the call passed smoothly, the couples telling each other about what they'd been up to in the months since they'd been together. Mike and Bill promised to come and visit Richie and Eddie in Los Angeles when their travelling brought them to California. They then all said their goodbyes and hung up.
"You know, I'm really proud of you." Richie murmured into Eddie's ear once they were on the sofa, Richie lying back against the arm of the sofa with Eddie between his legs, resting back on him. "You've been really optimistic about everything and it's honestly fucking impressive, Eds, I wouldn't be finding it this easy if you weren't with me."
"Yeah?" Eddie's lips curved up into a smile and Richie nodded, brushing his nose against Eddie's, "I'm proud of you too. We've both come a really long way from Derry, and I think it's kind of amazing that we've found acceptance with everything, given the type of place we grew up in. It's strange to look back and remember how hard I was trying to hide that I was gay, and my big fat crush on you."
Richie's eyes lit up and for a moment, Eddie saw the child in him —the fourteen year old, buck-toothed lively child who pinched Eddie's cheek and lifted him up and spun him around just for a reaction. "A big fat crush, huh?" Eddie nodded, humming to confirm. "Well, I had a big fat crush on you, too, Eds. Your little red shorts drove fifteen year old me crazy." He booped Eddie's nose, watching his face bloom scarlet like the eventide of a night in California, before he lightly swatted at Richie's arm, immediately rubbing his hand over the area he'd hit.
"I did only wear them for so long to get your attention, it was subconscious at the time." Eddie admitted, "Nice to know that it worked, though."
"I bet you could still pull them off, I could buy you a pair, perhaps?" Richie teased, slipping his hands under Eddie's shirt, running his fingers up the small of his back, eliciting a shiver from him —getting a reaction from Eddie was always satisfying.
To his surprise, Eddie didn't scoff or push him away, he pressed a long kiss to Richie's jaw, and smirked against his skin, "Hm, maybe." Then he tittered softly, shaking his head, "The things I do for you."
"It's because you love me!" Richie singsonged, dragging out the last syllable and gently pressing his fingers into Eddie's sides, pinning him to the sofa by perching on his thighs as he tickled him. Eddie was beautiful like this, he thought —face erubescent with merriment, dewdrops in his waterline, graceful hands pushing at Richie's as he tried to shout at Richie through his laughter. "Say it, Eds! If you admit you love me most in the whole world, I'll stop!" He grinned cheekily.
"Okay, okay! I love you most in the world! Truce, truce!" Eddie gasped out, coming down from his constant giggling and deflating back into the couch, bringing Richie with him. "You're absolutely insufferable sometimes." He shook his head up at Richie, but the empty words didn't seem to have any effect on him.
"Well, I'm very sorry, Spaghetti, but we're married, you're stuck with me now. No returns or exchanges." When Richie murmured it to him, Eddie realized that it was true. They were together now, they could be with each other forever, they would be. Never in his life had he ever thought he would get to this point. After his mother had guilted him into marrying Myra, it looked like he was destined to spend the rest of his life an unhappy, closeted man, never able to live his truth or be with whoever his heart desired. Eddie looks at Mike's phonecall as the single best thing to have happened to him, it was the start of freeing him from the chains of his past, his abuse, his deep repression. It led him back to Richie, the one his heart had yearned for, even when his name was always just on the tip of his tongue and all he could remember was knobbly hands and a pair of cracked glasses. Nothing could come between them now, not the clown, not his mother, not the press. Richie made him feel like he could take on anything.
"I wouldn't have it any other way, Rich."

reddie fic recs
Since the Reddie fandom is currently imploding and we are all rapidly descending into madness, I thought it would only make sense for me to compile a list of my favorite Reddie fic to act as a balm in the days leading up to It: Chapter 2. Enjoy!
Growing Up A Loser by Sarah_Vincent1506
Aging-Up Fic involving the Loser's Club. Mostly the core four (Bill, Stan, Richie, Eddie). Begins right after the end of the 2017 film, and is mostly based on that, with hints to the book and maybe the mini-series. Reddie and Stenbrough, basically, with some drama in-between but probably a happy ending that doesn't involve certain characters forgetting each other and/or dying because I can't deal. Warning: This will be Gay as Shit.
This fic is absolutely gorgeous. The characterizations are spot on, the individual story lines are perfect, and the writing is stunningly beautiful. Even though Reddie isn’t the main focus of this story (though it is a major aspect), the other characters/relationships are just as enjoyable to read. This work is a WIP, but I would still 100% encourage you to dive head first into this brilliant story. Features Benverly and Stenbrough
wonder violet by belby
"Right." Eddie's not sure what to think. "Well, thanks, for sticking up for me." Eddie's also not sure if he means that, but it feels like something he should say.
"Yeah, 'course," Richie replies. "You're my sister's best friend."
This is an AU about Eddie befriending an older Richie’s sister and how their Friendship By Association develops into an actual relationship. This story is very angsty one moment, but very sweet and fluffy the next. Features jealous!Richie and oblivious!Eddie.
tear it with your teeth by belby
"We could leave this place, Eddie," Richie says. "God, imagine that? Not having to live in this trash dump anymore. We could go wherever we wanted. A different place every night."
Just...read this. Read it right now.
Sweet Sacrifice by Drindalis
A slick yellow raincoat clad bundle of tears slammed into Stan's chest and he gave an oof as the wind was knocked out of him, sending him tumbling back against the wall of the sewers.
"St-Stan, it's cold and dark and scary down here, I-I found Eddie but he won't wake up, an' I wanna go home, where's Billy!?"
The Turtle used the last of its power to revive the three people who matter the most to the Loser's Club, activating upon It's physical demise; Stanley Uris, Eddie Kaspbrak, and Georgie Denbrough.
This fic is long--it currently has 86 chapters and 170,361 words. Just like Growing Up A Loser, Reddie isn’t the main focus of this story but that doesn’t detract from it at all. The premise of this story is very interesting and is executed perfectly. Richie and Eddie are so madly in love that it’s equal parts sweet and heartbreaking. Features Benverly and Stenbrough
Scream Hello by gilded_iris
Eddie Kaspbrak is thirty-eight years old. His hair is thinning in the back, his hands are constantly dry from the antibacterial soap he uses, and his gums are receding after a lifetime of over-brushing his teeth. For the past few years, he's been wearing a pair of rimless spectacles that sit handsomely on his delicate nose. Despite being unable to exercise, he keeps a tidy figure. He is attractive enough, although not overtly so. He is short. Meek. Anxious. Tired. Most of all, Eddie hates his life.
It's twenty-five years after the Losers Club confronted It. Eddie is the owner of a luxury car service and is married to Myra, a clone of his mother. His memories of Derry are jumbled and suppressed. Then, one day, a certain ghost from his past gets into the back of his car.
This fic revolves around Richie and Eddie reuniting 2 years before the final confrontation with It, and I believe that author gilded_iris dealt with the fascinating premise wonderfully. It is funny, sad, sweet, and basically everything you would want in a Reddie fic.
the years go by like days by georgiestauffenberg
Richie and Eddie leave Derry and build a live together in the years leading up to the final confrontation with It. Equal parts charming and devastating, as most of the fics on this list are, and one of my all-time favorites.
Wishes by striclyamess
It's one thing to vacation at the Happiest Place on Earth with all your friends.
Working there with them is another thing entirely.
(or: the Disney World Employee/Cast Member AU written by a former Disney World Cast Member that some people asked for but most did not)
This fic is incredibly special, from it’s wonderfully accurate characterizations to the Disney magic woven into the structure of the story. It is incredibly charming and sweet, and definitely worth a read. Features Benverly and Stanlonbrough
I hope these fics were enough to calm your Feral Reddie Vibes until the actual movie comes out!! If you are interested in more recs (cause let’s me honest, I have many) please let me know and I will provide!!

Reddie Playlist
Hey! Ok so I’ve been working on this Reddie playlist for a while now and I’ve finally decided to put it out! It’s available on Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube. This 45 song playlist is takes you from before It ch 1 until after It ch 2 and it’s pretty much just Richie’s perspective with Eddie’s sprinkled in. It works best if you listen to it full way through without shuffling it, it’s supposed to tell a story! I’m gonna leave a guideline to everything under the links to the playlists so you can follow along if you want! I really hope you guys enjoy, please leave me feedback because I’d love that! Special thanks to my girlfriend @jivs-jam for helping me find songs and for owning the Apple Music Playlist. Another thanks to my sister for listening to it through with me before I put it out and to you for listening!
Here it is!!
~Storyline~
Key:
•Richies POV
•Eddies POV
•Both POV
•important song
•song quote
By your side by Mellah
This song is meant to establish their friendship as it’s the beginning of the playlist. Richie and Eddie are best friends, obviously, and they always have each other’s back.
“You need not ask me for more ‘cause friend I’d give you it all, to have and to hold, when you’re down, when you fall”
La Lune by Madeon ft. Dan Smith
Richie is beginning to feel differently about Eddie as he’s getting older even thought nothings really changed between them. He can’t pinpoint what’s wrong but he’s worried about the change.
“Does it matter if we change? Does it matter at all? Don’t you worry about me, Friend, don’t you worry at all”
could this be love? By saturn 17
Richie realizes that his feelings towards Eddie are no longer simply friendly and have crossed over into crush territory. He notices everything Eddie does and he absolutely admires him. By the end he’s trying to push it down and convince himself his feelings aren’t real.
“I’ve never felt like this before. Oh, I’ve never had this feeling till I saw her. She’s making me feel like this could be love, but who knows, could it be love?”
Walking All Day by Graham Coxon
Pretty much just Riche doing anything to make Eddie smile or laugh. He just wants to be near him 🥺
“Walkin’ all day with my mouth on fire trying to get talkin’ to you”
Wonderwall by Oasis
Richie wants to tell Eddie everything he feels but he can’t.
“Because maybe you’re gonna be the one that saves me cause after all, you’re my wonderwall”
Sleepover by Hayley Kiyoko
Richie wants him and Eddie to be more than friends but he knows he can’t tell Eddie that. Like in La Lune, they are doing things they would usually do, like have sleepovers and such, but it all feels different now.
“Even when you’re next to me it’s not the way I’m picturing, no.”
Why Not Me by Alexander Rybak
Richie is happy that they’re friends but he wants more. He’s distraught that he isn’t what Eddie might want.
“You wonder who your date will be. I wonder, Katherine, why not me?”
Daisy by Zedd
Eddie is beginning to catch feelings for Richie as well. He acknowledges how troubled Richie seems and wishes he could tell him just how much he means to him.
“Let me show you how a kiss should taste. Trust me, I won’t give your heart away. Why you running, running, when I’ve got it right here? Oh, I would love you if you let me.”
Space Age Love Song by A Flock Of Seagulls
Just imagine Richie and Eddie doin cute shit like going to a museum or whateva and falling for each other even more without the other one knowing 😌
“I saw your eyes and you touched my mind, although it took a while, I was falling in love.”
Your Love Song, Pt. 2 by HUNNY
I usually just imagine Richie singing to this song in his room thinking about Eddie but for the purpose of this playlist, Richie is finding it harder to mask his feeling. Eddie seems to be vibing, though, so Richie begins to think he might just have a shot.
“Baby, I want to be part of your love song. Maybe I already am.”
Boyfriend by Big Time Rush
This is self explanatory (and self indulgent.) Richie isn’t saying this to Eddie bUt he’s hyping himself up so he can finally ask Eddie out.
“Don’t be scared to come, put your trust in me. Can’t you see? All I really wanna be is your boyfriend.”
Jenny by Studio Killers
This is the get together song!! Richie finally tells Eddie how he feels and Eddies gay ass obviously recuperates his feelings. I personally imagine them in their Freshman year of high school when this takes place, just to put things into perspective.
“I wanna ruin our friendship, we should be lovers instead. I don’t know how to say this cause you’re really my dearest friend.”
I Wanna Waste My Time on You by The Crookes
This is the beginning of the “Honeymoon” phase of their relationship, a theme that prevails for the next few songs (until Yellow Cloud). They spend every second with each other, more than normal. It’s just a feel good new love type song. The idea of escapism is started here and prevails until the end of their teenage years.
“I wanna waste my time on you, waste my time on you. Spinning round the skyline, when everything was new.”
Lay By Me by firekid
Another song in the “Honeymoon” phase. Very wholesome and cute, just two idiots in love.
“I’ll show you the world tonight as long as you say you’re mine.”
Talk Too Much by COIN
Richie’s a Trashmouth. That’s it. You can imagine they’re on a date, idk I just had to do it to em.
“You know I talk too much. Honey, come put your lips on mine and shut me up.”
Yellow Cloud by Trixie Mattel
As they become more serious and as they get deeper into their teenage years, Eddie dreams of getting out of Derry with Richie in tow. The “Honeymoon” phase of being overly clingy may be over, but they love each other just as much as before.
“When we’re older, we stay the same. Couple of losers who won the game.”
Everlong by Foo Fighters
Richie wants nothing to ever change between them, but he’s afraid that he might do something wrong, his inner insecurities attacking him. He just wants everything to work out, and Eddie assures him it will.
“And I wonder when I sing along with you if everything could ever feel this real forever, if anything could ever be this good again.”
Wouldn’t It Be Nice by The Beach Boys
Richie and Eddie talk about the future outside of Derry.
“Wouldn’t it be nice if we were older? Then we wouldn’t have to wait so long. And wouldn’t it be nice to live together in the kind of world where we belong?”
Come on Eileen by Dexys Midnight Runners
I imagine this song as their first Homecoming dance together, probably around their Sophmore year of high school. Richie is hyping up his boyfriends obviously. You can take this song with its intended meaning but they babies so 🥺 imma pretend I didn’t hear that.
“Come on Eileen. Oh I swear, at this moment you mean everything.”
Two Men in Love by The Irrepressibles
They feel so deeply in love as the relationship slowly builds and they plan on running away with each other after they graduate. I also imaging them coming out to the losers about their relationship in this song.
“There’s a strange love inside, it’s getting louder, and louder, and louder, and louder, and louder. There’s a danger I can’t hide. Who I am, it’s who I am, it’s who I am, it’s who I am. I’m in love.”
Roman Holiday by Halsey
Richie gets his licence during his Junior year and they escape Derry for the weekend. This also symbolizes Eddie’s wish to run away with Richie and how that want keeps getting stronger.
“Feet first, don’t fall, or we’ll be running again.”
Eddie Baby by Felix Hagan & the Family
This boy is in love. That’s it. Oh and it’s like near the end of Junior year.
“Oh Eddie, baby, Won’t you come to my arms tonight? I beg and plead you please succumb to my charms tonight.”
18 by One Direction
It’s their Senior year and Eddie gets accepted into a good school out of state. Eddie promises to visit/write/call Richie until Richie has enough money to leave Derry and join Eddie. They both reflect on their relationship over past few years.
“All I can do is say that these arms were made for holding you. I wanna love like you made me feel when we were 18.”
Eddie My Love by The Chordettes
Richie writes Eddie a letter after he leaves for college. Eddie obviously doesn’t get it, and if he did he still wouldn’t have known who Richie was.
“Eddie, please write me one line. Please tell me your love is still only mine. Please, Eddie, since you’ve been gone.”
Malibu 1992 by COIN
Richie and Eddie “break up”, aka Richie never hears from Eddie again and he accepts that he’s probably never gonna hear from him again. Richie convinces himself that Eddie has grown tired of him. He revisits the Kissing Bridge and mourns the loss of his relationship. He tries to convince himself that he’s over Eddie but he knows he can’t be.
“Oh, I did it again, I did it again. Oh I did it again, I must still want you. Our names carved in the pavement, sealed by what’s left of our handprints, now.”
Slow Dances by Winnetka Bowling Leauge
Richie is leaving Derry to pursue standup in California. As he drives away from his hometown he thinks of Eddie one last time. Then he forgets.
“That’s how I knew you, talking with your fast hands, saving all your slow dances. I wish I was there with you.”
La Belle Femme by HUNNY
Twenty One years have gone by since Richie left Derry and Twenty Seven years have gone by since Pennywise terrorized the Losers Club. Richie gets his call from Mike and remembers all the losers- especially Eddie. He remembers his crush but not their relationship. While he doesn’t think he still likes him, he mourns the “lost opportunities” from decades ago.
“What I would do if I was with you in the other room. Dreaming of you, is all I can do, from the other room.”
Sober Up by AJR
Once he sees Eddie again, he’s like “shit I’m still gay” and drinks a shit ton of alcohol, so basically just what happens in the movie. He also reflects on all he remembers now, not just stuff about Eddie but the losers in general.
“Won’t you help me sober up? Growing up, it made me numb, and I wanna feel something again.”
Happily by One Direction
Best way to summarize this is “Wait Eddie you got married? You mean to like a woman?”. Richie is pretty much just jealous of Myra and he wishes he could have Eddie to himself.
“I know you wanna leave, so c’mon baby, be with me so happily.”
Self Control by DallasK
As they return to the townhouse, Richie knows in his mind that both he and Eddie need to leave before Richie does something he’ll regret, especially because Eddie is married. He never verbalizes it.
“I wanna hold you close but I keep telling myself that you should run away cause you got somebody else.”
Parking Lot by HUNNY
Richie’s upset over missed opportunities. He wants nothing more than to be with Eddie but he know he can’t. Unbeknownst to him, he’s wasting his time with Eddie by worrying over lost time.
“I should’ve kissed that girl in the parking lot, I never told her what I wanted to say. I could’ve cracked my head in the parking lot, you never know.”
Raspberry by Grouplove
Eddie has feelings for Richie and gets flustered over him as if he were a teenager again. He tries to explain it away and rationalize it in his mind.
“Cause I was walking in a dream, what you mean? How you been? I never knew I’d get so red.”
Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler
They are about to go against Pennywise for the second and final time. They both mentally promise themselves that when/if they get out of there alive they’re gonna confess their feelings to each other. They can’t waste anymore time withholding how they feel.
“And I need you now tonight, and I need you more than ever, ans if you only hold me tight, we’ll be holding on forever.”
Fight for Me by Barrett Wilbert Weed (Heathers)
Eddie believes he killed Pennywise and Richie has never felt more in love in his life. He wants Eddie, nothing more and nothing less. He wants to make him and Eddie work. Then like Pennywise is homophobic or whateva.
“And hey, could you face the crowd? Could you be seen with me and still act proud? Hey, could you hold my hand and could you carry me through no mans land?”
Breezeblocks by alt-J
Richie confesses his feelings for Eddie to Eddie before he dies.
“Please don’t go, Please don’t go. I love you so, I love you so.”
Arms Tonite by Mother Mother
Eddie wants to tell Richie that he feels the same and he knows he doesn’t have a lot of time left.
“I cried in the afterlife. I cry hard because I have died and you’re alive”
Smarter Ways Of Saying It by HUNNY
This is the death song. I don’t know what else to say besides I’m sad.
“I ask you to hold my hand as we fall asleep and I forget your face.”
(I Just) Died In Your Arms by Cutting Crew
Eddie is dead and he regrets so much in the afterlife :(( my heart </3
“Oh, i just died in your arms tonight, it must’ve been something you said.”
Open Your Eyes by Snow Patrol
Richie is in denial about Eddies death and he has to be dragged out of Neibolt. So just think of the “we gotta get him outta here” scene.
“Take my hand, knot your fingers through mine and we'll walk from this dark room for the last time. Every minute from this minute now we can do what we like anywhere. I want so much to open your eyes cause I need you to look into mine.”
How to Save a Life by The Fray
Richie regrets not making good use of time and he blames himself for Eddie’s death as the losers comfort him in the quarry.
“Where did I go wrong? I lost a friend, somewhere along in the bitterness.”
Jet Pack Blues by Fall Out Boy
Richie re-carves R+E into the Kissing Bridge and remembers everything. All his childhood/teenage memories, all the good and bad times, but most importantly he remembers his relationship with Eddie. He leaves Derry, still remembering everything even after he arrives back in California. He wishes Eddie could have gone home with him.
“I’ve got those Jet Pack Blues. Fight off the light tonight and just stay with me. Honey, don’t you leave.”
In This Shirt by The Irrepressibles
Richie wishes he can tell Eddie just how much he means to him. All he has to comfort him once he gets back home is some of Eddies belonging that he took with him, including a few of his hoodies.
“In this shirt I can be you, to be near you, for a while.”
Take On Me (MTV Unplugged) by a-ha
Richie is beginning to go through all the stages of grief and is slowly coming to terms with Eddies death.
“I’m odds and ends but I’ll be stumbling away slowly learning that life is ok.”
Letter by Mother Mother
Richie uses writing as a way to cope, whether it’s writing his own comedy routines (finally) or writing Eddie letters that he knows will never get to him no matter how hard he tries.
“I miss my lover, yeah I write letter everyday. The only thing is that my lover don’t ever write me.”
Vanilla Twilight by Owl City
Richie has finally come to terms with Eddies passing and has begun to live his life like he normally would, the only difference being the support he now has from his friends. He still thinks about Eddie daily, however, and still loves him all the same. He could never forget him.
“But I swear I won't forget you. Oh, if my voice could reach back through the past, I'd whisper in your ear, ‘Oh darling, I wish you were here’”
Thank you if you’ve made it this far!! I really hope you enjoyed!! I have an Alternate version of this playlist I’m gonna finalize and put out soon. Anyways have an amazing day/night! Again, I hope you enjoyed!

Notting Hill Reddie AU
So Richie and Stan co-own a small bookstore in NYC (Containing mainly bird related books even though they are in NYC and the only birds are pidgins)
- Eddie is a very famous movie actor who is just trying to peacefully shop in NYC
- He ends up in the store and he and Richie make a few dumb digs at each other before Richie realises who Eddie is (because some guy who was trying to rob Richie not 5 minutes before asks Eddie for his Autograph)
- After Eddie leaves, Stan walks in annoyed because everywhere was so crowded because apparently some famous celebrity was walking around and he didn’t have time to grab a coffee (And who really cares about celebrities anyway like oh my god get a life)
- Richie offers to go get Stan a coffee but on his way back he literally runs into Eddie and spills it all over him. In an attempt to make amends Richie offers for him to get changed at Richie (and Mike’s) place which is just nearby.
- Eddie agrees and the two make a lot of digs at each other (and Eddie’s mum) during the time. However, once Eddie leaves, Richie kicks himself because he just repeatedly insulted the cutest guy that he has ever met (and a celebrity!!)
- Then Eddie returns because he forgot the bag with his book that he had brought from Richie earlier. He then kisses Richie right before leaving again because Richie is the first person to make him feel like a human in so long okay?!?
- This of course means that Richie spending a few days in shock because oh my god Eddie Kaspbrak kissed me my life is complete! And of course Richie watches all of Eddie’s movies
- A week or so later Stan tells Richie that he got a call from a Mr Kent staying at the Grand (Idk thats a NYC famous people hotel right?) Richie immediately calls up and Eddie tells him to come in the next day at 2
- However, when Richie arrives he is mistaken for a journalist and is taken to another room. Confused Richie goes along with the act, saying that he is from comedy central. When he finally gets to see Eddie its as an interview, and the two laugh quietly while trying to keep up pretences that it is an interview (they fail)
- Richie is then has to interview all the other main actors for the movie, and it takes him way too long to realise was a horror film about a killer clown (shoutout to Pennywise) and not a comedy at all.
- After all that Richie manages to get back inside to speak to Eddie some more and Eddie agrees to go on a date with him that night. However Richie soon realises that he had a close friends birthday, Eddie however agrees to go with him.
- The birthday is, of course, that of one Beverly Hanscom and the whole Losers club is there!
- They are all shocked that Richie not only found a date that not only could actually put up with him, but also famous af
- Richie and Eddie spend the whole night  doing their usual flirting teasing routine and Eddie fits in surprisingly well with the entire group.
- On their walk home, Richie and Eddie stop at a small comedy club where they spend the night talking happily and Richie reveals that he used to want to be a comedian before life and bills got in the way. The two kiss again that night before parting ways.
- The next day Eddie invites Richie to see a movie together and then out for dinner afterwards. While at dinner, the two hear the next table over (the bowers gang) making homophobic slurs about Eddie, to which Richie grows increasingly mad about before he stands up to give them a piece of his mind. Eddie drags him away but cant help wrecks them himself before leaving (never one to leave without getting in the final word).
- After that the two agree to head up to Eddie’s room but when Richie gets there he finds that Eddie’s wife had just flown in. Myra, being herself quite a famous actress, was immediately rude to Richie and dismissed him as hotel staff.
- Broken hearted Richie went back to his apartment alone.
- Over the next 6 months the Losers try to set Richie up so that he can get over Eddie but nothing ever comes out of it.
- Then, out of the blue, Eddie arrives on Richie’s doorstep after a tabloid scandal revealed that not only had Eddie had a relationship with a man (in college before he was famous), he had also let this man take revealing photos of him that had never been deleted.
- also that he and Myra are getting a divorce
- Richie lets Eddie stay with him and Mike and the two (excluding Mike - sorry) spend an evening entirely too wrapped up in each other. However, it ends with Richie valiantly taking the couch and Eddie in his bed.
- Mike is sure to tell Richie how much of an idiot he is before he also retires to bed. (He is sick of Richie annoying him because he is a lovesick fool okay!)
- Just as Richie makes up his mind to go and knock on Eddie’s door, Eddie appears and invites Richie upstairs, where they spend the night together. ;)
- The next morning the two wake up happily in each others arms and THE END
- nah jk we wish
- Somehow a bunch of reporters and paparazzi had discovered that Eddie was staying with Richie, lining the streets out the front of their small building and managing to snap many not so flattering pictures of Richie in his underwear.
- Eddie is mad and heartbroken because he thinks that Richie sold him out so that he could brag with proof that he slept with Eddie, and leaves.
- The two don’t speak for almost a year before Richie finds out that Eddie shooting a gay romcom in NYC for the next couple of weeks. Richie turns up to the set and is greeted by Eddie who seems happy to see him and asks him to stay around until he has a break. However Richie overhears Eddie telling one of his co-stars that Richie is just “someone from the past” and that he doesn’t “even know why he’s here”. Richie leaves broken hearted again
- Eddie drops by Richie and Stan’s bookstore the next day to apologise to Richie and to ask for them to try again (But with more sappy declarations of love and your mum jokes) but Richie refuses and the two part ways.
- Richie and the rest of the losers all meet up at Mike’s bakery where Richie tells everyone everything. They all try to convince themselves of Richie’s decision before finally Stan tells Richie that he is a dumbass and to go get his man.
- The whole losers gang end up in Ben’s car and the drive full speed to where Eddie usually stays only to find that he had already checkout to head back to LA. However they are also told that Eddie has a press conference currently being held across town.
- The gang manage to only just get there in time (with Bill almost being hit by a car in order to redirect traffic so that they could get through) and they hear one of the reporters ask Eddie how long he is planning on staying in NYC. Eddie says that he will be leaving in only a few hours.
- A second reporter asks about Richie and their relationship, which Eddie answer that he believes that they are still friends but nothing more.
- Finally, the manager calls upon Richie to ask a question. Having not really planned what he was going to say all that well, Richie apologises for being a dumbass and not recognising when he should have that he shouldn’t have given Eddie up. He promises to fight for and love Eddie more than he loved Eddie’s mum (which lead to some very confused laughs from the crowd.) and asks if Eddie believes if he could ever love Richie.
- (all hypothetically of course cause richie is meant to be a journalist)
- Eddie asks his manager to ask the first reporter who Richie heard speak to repeat his question, to which Eddie replies that he would be staying in NYC indefinitely.
- cue cheering, crying and kissing
- Eddie leaves with Richie and the two spend the rest of their lives together (also Richie finally starts up comedy again and becomes reasonably well known) :D
The End (this time for real I promise)
someone pls write this properly cause I have no skill or commitment

Filling the blanks - Chapter 6
Tumblr media
Pairing: Richie x Eddie x Bill (Reddie at the start).
Summary: During his last moments, Eddie realized he had something to say, but before he could finish the sentence, he was gone. Now he’s stuck between life and death and he knows he won’t be able to rest until he takes care of what he started. The only person he trusts enough to help him is Bill.
Or: The ghost AU where Eddie’s spirit can get inside of Bill’s mind to ask him for help to tell Richie he loved him.
Warnings: Canon Divergence (IT actually kills Audra) and, of course, death of major character. Some really heavy internalized homophobia in this chapter. Like, really heavy. Even some use of the F word that isn’t “fuck”. So, yeah, please be careful, the whole point of this fic is to make y’all have a good time, not triggering you <3

Special thanks to my stunning beta @golden-marauders. I know you’re going through busy times and I just wanna say you’re doing amazing, sweetie. This thing would be nothing without you. Or at least pretty hard to read xD
Eddie can’t say he didn’t think about canceling the date. Actually, canceling the date has been the only thing on his mind since he and Bill left the bed. He spent the whole morning contemplating the idea, trying not to be too loud, since his friend needed to put all his effort into looking wrecked and lonely for the eyes of the producers. He didn’t even hear the conclusion of the meeting, and he felt afraid of asking. The last thing he wants is to make it seem like he doesn’t care about Bill’s problems.
He built up a few excuses, too. Lying to Richie shouldn’t be that hard, and he was already reluctant about the ‘new scary, weird thing’, so he wouldn’t insist or ask for any further explanation. Bill could get sick, or devastated after discussing his wife’s death, or Eddie could simply have come to the conclusion that he doesn’t love Richie. At least not as he thought. He was confused, that’s all.
He doesn’t even need to cancel. He took care of his unfinished business, he’s allowed to leave whenever he wants. And, to be honest, he could use an eternal nap after everything he’s gone through. Richie will wait for him and, when he finally realizes Eddie won’t come, he’ll go home and start to forget.
Richie said he wanted to forget. He said he wanted to get over Eddie’s memory and death. Eddie not attending their lunch would be the best thing that could happen to him.
And, damn, this is not just about Richie. Eddie himself isn’t sure if he wants to go back into the dating scene. He thought he would get away from it forever when he got married, and he can’t help but think he shouldn’t be doing it at his current age. He went out with a few girls when he was younger —always during his short seasons of ‘I’ll become strong and independent and I’ll show my mother I can live without her’— and everything he can recall from that dark era is awful.
All different from the others: tall, short, blonde, brunette, curvy, skinny; but all of them with the same demanding, enthusiastic voice, going on and on about their lives and wanting to find out more and more about Eddie’s. Asking, digging, questioning. Did he have lots of friends while growing up? He couldn’t remember. How many ex-girlfriends? None, they never lasted enough to earn that title. How could someone like him still be single? Sonia Kaspbrak, that’s how.
The most voluptuous ones would lean towards him, their giant breasts spreading all over the table, making him think about cows and lose his appetite for the rest of the night. The most demonstrative liked to casually play with his pinky ring and put their hand on his shoulder while acting like his jokes were super funny and bat their eyes while smiling sweetly at him. The shyest ones barely made any eye contact and they usually had a friend who called pretending a relative of them had a car accident, just in time to save them from the silence when it became unbearable.
But all of them had something in common. They expected to be taken home, and held, and kissed, and, sometimes, made love to. That was the concept Eddie couldn’t stand. And God knows he tried to explain it without hurting anyone’s feelings. Some took it well, but the ones who would cry and tell him he didn’t like them were the worst. He ended up putting his hands on their cheeks, making them look at him in the eye and talking about how they were amazing and deserved better for hours until their ego was restored.
Yeah, you deserve better, he thought. Preferably anyone but me.
I’ll call you, he’d say, and he’d never call. He didn’t give them his number because he was too scared of his mother picking up the phone. The only time he felt like he could trust someone with such personal information, was a ginger girl he met in college. She was nice and funny, and Eddie felt randomly willing to keep seeing her. Of course, he later concluded he only liked her as a friend, but the connection was there. He always connected with ginger girls, even though he couldn’t put his finger on the reason behind it.
When Sonia found out about her, their house almost exploded. She accused him of not loving her anymore, of trying to leave her. She cried and screamed that he had changed, that he felt like he was too good for his mother.
“You use people and then throw them away,” she sobbed, “I dedicated my whole life to you, to keep you safe and healthy, and now that you think you can take care of yourself, you want to get rid of me as soon as possible. But you’re wrong. You’re sure you can make it on your own but you’re wrong, Eddie. You’d be nothing without me.”
That was their biggest fight and the only time he decided to remind her about the fake meds. He was convinced it would make him win the argument and his whole life. However, it only made it worse. By the time she was crying in his arms, telling him she loved him and she didn’t want to lose him, he had already promised he would never date someone without letting her know again.
And he kept that promise. The next one was Myra and their relationship barely touched the dating phase. They got married by inertia and he acted like he loved her till the very last day.
So Eddie isn’t a professional on dating. He didn’t enjoy it, and somehow, going out on a date with Richie doesn’t seem right. What would they do? Sit down and eat their meal and pretend they don’t know everything about each other? Will Richie try to flirt with him like he would flirt with the random, hot women he’s used to date? How does a first date work when you already admitted you’re in love with the other person? Does Richie expect him to hold the doors open for him and pay the bill, like his previous romantic interests? Or will Richie do that for him? If that’s the case, how can he make it clear that he doesn’t want to be treated like a lady?
Fuck, how does gay dating work, anyway? Eddie hasn’t even considered that word yet. He just knows he likes Richie, he’s attracted to him and he doesn’t like women, which, by default, should make him gay. But the term isn’t something he’s accustomed to. He tries to act like an expert for Richie, because he understands that Richie is going through a lot and he needs someone to guide him. He makes an effort because Richie needs him, and that’s what finally convinces him that he can’t just cancel their date.
Richie needs him. Yes, Eddie loves him and wants to be with him, but that’s not the most important part of the deal. If he leaves the world and Richie falls for another man —or even a woman— and gets married and completely forgets about him, it won’t matter. Hurting and mattering aren’t the same thing. Essentially and most significantly, he will be happy for him. He doesn’t mind if the true love of Richie’s life is someone else. The only thing he cares about is that Richie accepts himself.
The confusion on his face and in his voice the night before, made Eddie’s heart shrink. He knows that doubt, that guilt, and he doesn’t want that for Richie. He wants him to look at himself in the mirror and, regardless of who’s in his bed that morning, feel no shame about liking both men and women and realize nothing can change that. After years of denial, Eddie knows the best gift he can give to someone he loves, is helping them to get to that point of awareness and freedom.
No, he won’t cancel. He can’t. His unfinished business might be completed, but he still has something to do. He won’t let Richie down.
“Okay,” he nods decisively, fixing the collar of his shirt in front of the mirror, “How do I look?”
Bill chuckles.
Y-you look amazing, if I do say so myself.
Eddie smiles too. He has spent the last twenty minutes wandering through the bathroom, looking for lotions and deodorants and hygiene products that Bill didn’t even know existed. As soon as they left the studio office, Eddie concluded they had to shower, and despite the insistence of his friend on how they were clean enough, he took that decision to its most extreme consequences. To the point where Bill is starting to think they might never leave the room.
Bill tried to be understanding and supportive. He gets it; life hasn’t been nice to Eddie, principally on the romantic department. The best thing he can do is play along and do anything he can to make it easier for him. But when Eddie resolves that their hair just doesn’t look good enough and that it’s probably because of the shampoo, so they should shower again, Bill knows it’s time to stop.
Okay, w-wait a minute… What’s wrong with my h-hair?
Eddie freezes with his hand inches away from the shower faucet.
“Oh, nothing,” he quickly clarifies, scared of Bill taking it the wrong way, “It looks good, really, but—”
Then why would you c-change it?
“’Cause… ‘cause it doesn’t look good on me, alright? It looks amazing on you, but not on me.”
Bill releases an exasperated sigh.
Eddie, we’ve literally got the same f-face.
Eddie opens his mouth to reply but, sooner than later, he realizes he doesn’t have any argument to what he wants to say.
Also, we’re gonna be late if we—
“But there’s so much I need to do,” he answers immediately, alarmed, “We… we haven’t shaved.”
W-we shaved this morning! What are you t-talking about?
“I know we did, fine? But I’m not convinced. Your skin feels weird and… and I’m sure it doesn’t look just-shaved enough… Maybe with some lotion…”
Eddie, s-seriously, you’re gonna leave America without lotion for three years if you k-keep that up. I’m telling you it looks fine. The only reason why you think it’s w-weird is ‘cause you’re not used to facial hair. I p-promise you Richie won’t notice the fucking d-difference!
Bill catches Eddie’s expression on the mirror and recognizes that maybe he went too far. Eddie looks shocked and almost betrayed. Perhaps they’re arguing about something insignificant, but with the emotional rollercoaster that the previous days had been, it makes sense that it affects him. Bill thinks about how to apologize without sending him a ‘you’re right’ message.
Sorry I s-snapped at you.
Eddie nods, saddened.
“It’s okay. Guess I deserved it.”
He forces a little smile and shrugs, and Bill panics at the misunderstanding.
N-no, Eddie, of course not. You… you didn’t deserve it, alright? I just really d-don’t want you to be l-late. And I’m scared that you might be…
Eddie stands back in front of the mirror and looks into his own eyes, searching for the other person that lies behind them.
“That I might what?” He softly asks.
T-trying to… back off.
At the start, he just looks confused, like he might had heard wrong. There’s no way Bill is implying what he thinks he implied. Then, shock hits him; Bill did say that. And after a fleeting moment of fear —what if it’s Bill who’s trying to back off?—, he’s plainly hurt.
“What the fuck?”
I-I just—
“No, really, the fuck are you talking about? Backing off? Why would I be backing off now?”
I d-don’t know. You’ve tried to back off b-before. Maybe you got scared or—
“Oh, sure, I forgot I’m a fucking pussy. Of course I’d get scared and try to back off. Of course I’m not an adult who can decide for himself and—”
Wow, c-calm down, Eds. You’re being d-defensive. I never said you were a coward. I don’t think that.
Eddie rubs his dead arm and looks down, suddenly demoralized.
“Well, Richie thinks that.”
W-wait… what? What did I miss? When did he s-say that?
His friend exhales a breathless laugh.
“You know, last night… He went on and on about how he wished I was more like when we were kids and how disappointed on me he was. And you can’t tell me it’s not true, ’cause I heard it and it was exactly what it sounded like. Guess that’s one of the things he wouldn’t say to my face, huh?”
Eddie, I—
“But I can’t really blame him. I would have been disappointed in me too, if I noticed how… how I was letting my mother and Myra tame me.”
B-but they didn’t! E-Eddie, can’t you see? They couldn’t tame you. If they did, how… how could you have come back? How could you have r-returned to Derry and… and… S-she was begging you to go back to New York. She would have done a-anything to make you stay. But you decided to do what you t-thought was right, no matter what she s-said. She didn’t have full control over you, and neither did your m-m-mother.
“Then I guess Richie just doesn’t see it that way…”
Of course Richie sees it that way! L-listen, the only reason Richie was d-disappointed was ’cause… ’cause he wanted his friend back. And so did the rest of us. It’s true, we wanted the old Eddie back, but not because he was b-brave or strong… we wanted him back ’cause he was happy. ’Cause he wanted to keep moving f-forward, and overcome his… his fears, and travel the world on his… on his train or w-whatever.
And when we saw you again after almost t-thirty years, sad and defeated, it hurt. But not in the way you think. It didn’t hurt like it does when… I don’t know, when a war hero d-dies. It hurt like it does when you realize your best friend is living an u-unhappy life.
B-but you proved us wrong! ’Cause you still had the same fire in you. You still have it, E-Eddie. You r-re-rekindled it when you came back, even if your wife didn’t want you to. And when you… k-killed Bowers. And when you gave your life for… for us. And by coming to me now and letting me know… by letting R-Richie know… Man, you’re made of stone.
Bill means it. Eddie knows Bill means it. And the comforting feeling of the person he admires the most talking about him like that, it’s almost unbearable. He never thought something as reassuring as what Bill just told him could be this overwhelming, this physically hurtful. But even when it feels like dying all over again in the best way possible, there’s still a shadow of doubt in his eyes.
Bill breathes out.
Hey, it’s okay if you’re mad at R-Richie. Really, what he said was just horrible and you s-shouldn’t ever let anyone talk about you like t-that. So I just want you to f-forget about your feeling for h-him, about your cosmic mission, about It, about e-everything, and allow yourself to feel hurt. ’Cause the people you love can be assholes, too… especially Richie. And they can say shit they shouldn’t. And if that shit m-makes you sad or angry or any other f-feeling… it’s alright. But maybe you… if you’re still mad, you shouldn’t…
“Bill, I’ll go,” Eddie clarifies, “I already said I would. And I’m not doing it just for myself. Richie needs me now. He’s confused, he’s scared, he’s—”
He’s an adult. He’s my b-best friend and I love him, but he’s an adult. It’s not your job to… to figure out his life for him. That’s s-something he has to do by h-himself. Please, just… stop trying to be deep, stop trying to be existential, stop trying to… s-save him. You already did that. What he does from now on… it… it’s up to him. You’re not his ticket out of the c-closet, you’re not his spiritual guide. You’re just his friend who wants… who could start a r-relationship with him. That’s all you’ve got to be. And you’ve got to a-ask yourself if you… if you still want that. ’Cause if you don’t and you f-force yourself… well, someone will end up hurt.
Eddie nods his head thoughtfully, lips closed.
Please, just… think it over. Rich’s not a bad guy. He doesn’t d-deserve your resent just because you held on to something… s-something you weren’t ready to do. And you don’t deserve it, either.
“I understand what you say, but I still wanna do it. Not because of Richie, not because I just want to go out with a guy… I want to do it for myself. I know he said some shitty stuff… and I’m not gonna act like it didn’t hurt. Fuck, it still hurts a bit, but that’s not the point. I’ve been letting everything get in the way of… of what I want. And down there, with my arm gone, bleeding to death, all I could think about was how nice it would be to leave that place like nothing happened and simply… be with him. I won’t miss this chance. I wanna take it.”
Bill sighs and takes control of his right arm to rest a hand on Eddie’s shoulder and give it a sympathetic squeeze.
T-then I’ll be with you in every step of the way… l-literally.
Eddie can’t help but chuckle, but the laugher fades away when he rationalizes everything.
Are you okay?
He blinks a few times, shocked.
“Yeah, I just noticed… this is the first time I got nervous before a date… for the right reason.”
Bill laughs, too.
It’s what you d-deserve. And it’s how it’s g-gonna be from now on.
Eddie raises his left hand and puts it over Bill’s, a soft smile on his face.
Yes, this is how it’s going to be. This is how it always should have been.
They’re supposed to meet at a small cafeteria that Richie chose. Eddie is sure he wanted it to be in such an unknown place because he didn’t like the thought of people finding out about it, but since this is Bill’s body and the last thing Eddie wishes is for his reputation to be affected by this experience, he can’t get mad. Richie and Bill are both very famous people, and a picture of them going out on a date —especially when Mrs. Denbrough has been gone for such a short time— would break the internet. They can’t take risks.
Also, he doesn’t mind privacy. After all, Richie is not the only one who’s trying to get used to the gay thing. Even though they already held hands and kissed, doing it out in the open world feels different. None of them are ready to take that step.
So he goes to this little bar, full of colorful murals and artsy details here and there, and stands in front of the glass door, building up the courage to open it, knowing what’s waiting for him on the other side. Once he does it, he doesn’t have any trouble to find Richie. He’s not far away from the exit, and is being loud enough while picking up his jacket and phone, prepared to leave. Eddie can hear him mumbling, talking to himself.
“Uh, Eds, sorry I couldn’t go I just…” Richie practices, “I had to… I had to check on my… No, that sucks, he’s not gonna buy that… Eds, sorry, I should have called but my grandma is in the hospital and… No, fuck, no, he knows my grandmother is dead… Okay, Rich, you can do it, one more time… Eds, I’ve got syphilis… Damn, what the hell I’m thinking? Ghosts don’t give a fuck about STDs… On the other hand, is Eddie who we’re talking about, so maybe…”
He starts walking to the door while saying this, so immersed on his monologue that he doesn’t notice Eddie’s presence until they’re face to face. His expression when he sees him is so priceless that Eddie can’t even get angry.
“Do you have to be at somewhere else?” He grins, maliciously.
Richie opens his mouth and shuts it, his index finger raising as if he had something to say, even when he doesn’t have a clue.
“You were trying to leave, weren’t you?”
He gulps and nods without a word.
“I really want to say I can’t believe this, but actually—”
“Eds, it’s not what you think,” Richie quickly explains.
“Oh, what is it, then?”
“Listen, Eddie, I… They’re gonna send me to… I’ve got… I’ve got gonorrhea, okay?”
“Didn’t you have syphilis like… thirty seconds ago?”
“That one too… also my ex is pregnant.”
“Let’s sit down and order the fucking food. I’m starving.”
He’s walking to the table, chuckling and shaking his head, before Richie can throw another excuse, and he doesn’t have any option but following him and taking a seat.
Here they are, only a dark wood surface and two menus between them, forced to have every conversation they’ve ignored since this madness started. Richie secretly wonders if the serious conversations will ever end, and Eddie kind of wants them to stop, too, but they know they’re necessary. It’s what they have to do.
“I really didn’t want to stand you up,” Richie says, and he sounds honest.
“It’s okay,” Eddie cuts him, “You’re scared, that’s all. I was scared, too.”
“Did you think about standing me up?”
“Uh… well, maybe not that scared, but definitely nervous. Bill said I was gonna leave America without lotion for three years if I kept that up,” he laughs a bit, “Just wanted to smell good, honestly.”
Richie nods, surprisingly solemn, and after a few seconds he seems to realize it was supposed to be a funny moment and not a transcendental one, so he makes one of his pathetic attempts to be smooth. They usually work… with twenty-something-year old girls. But Eddie is not a twenty-something-year old girl begging him to sleep with her. So it comes off forced and teenager-like.
“Oh, you… you do smell good, I guess?” He stutters, “Shit, I didn’t mean to say that. I mean, I wasn’t putting a lot of attention into it and it’s not like you don’t smell good all the time or anything… I mean, you have smelt better… No, wait, I really didn’t mean to say that. What I’m trying to say is… It’s not Bill’s lotion, I guess? Like, it’s you, your last body smelt nice, too… Well, probably not right now, but—”
“Beep-beep, Richie. I get the picture.”
Richie groans, frustrated, and looks down.
“Sorry, this is a bit weird for me. This doesn’t happen often.”
“What?”
“Well… this!” He makes an exaggerated gesture with his hands, “C’mon, you can’t tell me this isn’t weird.”
Eddie frowns, but the amused smile remains on his face.
“I thought you were used to go out on dates and talk to people.”
“Oh, yeah, I sure am.” He takes a breadstick from the basket between them and gives it a bite, “But this isn’t a… normal situation, you know?”
“Because I look like Bill or…?”
“No, I don’t care ’bout that… It’s just… Argh, it’s hard for me to talk to guys.”
“Richie, what the fuck?”
“I know it’s stupid, okay? You don’t need to tell me...”
“But you’re a guy, too!” He exclaims, trying not to burst out in laughter.
“Yeah, but you’re not just any guy. Like, there’s normal guys and there’s you! I mean…” Then he notices what he said, “Fuck, I know what it sounded like but it wasn’t supposed to sound like that. It’s not because of the… the thing.”
“The thing?”
“Yeah, you know…” He leans towards Eddie and whispers, “The thing.”
“Do you mean…” Eddie imitates him, still making an effort to control his chuckles, “The gay thing?”
“Yeah, that’s exactly what I mean.”
“Hi, may I take your order?” A waitress who neither of them knows where she came from suddenly asks.
That’s when they remember they’re in a public place and they’re so close their noses almost touch, so they both jump away from each other and stridently clear their throats while opening the menus.
“Billy, I was thinking of ordering the Philly cheese stake sandwich, what do you think?” Richie says, a little too loud.
“Uh… yeah, it sounds like a good idea.”
“Would you like to have one, too, Bill Denbrough, my best friend?”
“Just order whatever,” Eddie groans, rubbing his temples.
“Okay, so that will be, please,” he tells the waitress.
She nods, takes the menus and walks away. Their relieved sighs when she’s gone can be heard in the whole restaurant.
“You’re over-acting,” Eddie warns.
“Over-acting? I’m a fucking actor!”
“If you act like that in your movies…”
“Well, my fans don’t seem to care.”
“Do your fans know you can’t even have a normal conversation with a guy?”
“I already told you you’re not just some guy! You’re… Eddie!”
“Oh, right, the thing.”
“It’s not about the thing.”
“Sure it isn’t…” Eddie rolls his eyes.
“I’m getting a sense of déjà vu with this talk…”
“Yeah, we already had it, and you still can’t say the word ‘gay.’”
“Ugh, man, give me a rest. This ain’t easy.”
“Richie, we only have two weeks. You said you wanted to say it back, but you weren’t ready. I’m giving you all the time I can, but I think you just don’t want to be ready at all. Do you even like me?”
“Of course I fucking like you, asshole!” He snaps, remembering to keep his voice low, “I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t. I wouldn’t have kept that stupid, fake aspirator around if I didn’t. But this is hard for me, okay? It took you forty years to come to terms with… with the thing! And you still expect me to be all over you in less than 24 hours. At this time yesterday I was the straightest guy in town.
”I love women, alright? I love how they look and how they smell and how they run their nails down my back.” He sighs, “But… but looking back, I also liked how you looked and your smell and I… I’ve spent the whole fucking night thinking about your nails running down my back. And it’s so confusing and frustrating.
”I’m not gay, Eds! I know you want me to say I’m gay, but I really don’t feel like that. You’re the one who makes me feel this way. And I want it to stop but not really at the same time. Just… See? This is why I can’t say it. I’m sorry, but as soon as you’re gone, the feeling will be gone and I’ll go back to normal. There’s nothing we can do. So what’s the point of thinking it over? This goes nowhere.”
Once he finishes, he’s surprised to find out Eddie doesn’t look mad or done with the drama at all. Instead, his eyes are sad and understanding, like the only thing he could conclude from his rant was that Richie is unhappy and he doesn’t want him to feel like that. The waitress stops them from continuing talking when she comes back and puts their sandwiches in front of them, but when she leaves, they know they can’t ignore everything that’s been said.
“Then why are you here?” Eddie quietly asks, before giving his sandwich a bite.
“Why am I here?” Richie questions, puzzled.
“Yeah, why did you come if you thought it went nowhere? Why waste your time?”
“It’s what I do, Eds. I make out with someone and my mind goes all over the place, and I think ‘damn, this could be good’, so I give them a try ’cause this time could be different and I might prove I’m not just the funny guy on T.V. Then we get to know each other and they realize they don’t want just sex. They want you to undress your soul and tell them about your childhood trauma and have a lot of meaningful conversations that go on for hours. They want you to get married and have babies and buy a nice little house in the suburbs.
”Then they find out you can’t give them those things and try to change you. And when you realize you’re just the fantasy of the emotionally inaccessible guy… you tell them to put their dress back on and leave your house, and the next weekend you make out with someone new.”
Eddie remains mute.
“Sorry, I’ve been watching BoJack Horseman,” Richie apologizes, tearing off the bread’s crust, “But, hey, that’s fine. We’re just two old friends hanging out and…”
There’s an uncomfortable silence. The kind of silence Eddie desperately wanted to avoid. However, it isn’t like the ones he used to share with his previous dates. Those were terrible and scary, full of ridiculous attempts to restart the conversation, even when it was already dead. This silence feels like something needed, natural. They don’t want to rush out of it for the sake of stop being awkward. They want to work it out once they have something to say.
“Well, at least you don’t have to tell me about your childhood trauma,” Eddie shrugs, and Richie smiles, “I’m sorry if I pressured you. I didn’t mean to—”
“No, Eds, I’m sorry. I felt so bad about you being gone, and there was nothing I wanted more than you coming back… And when you do it, I just decide to be an asshole and call you names and act like you wasted your whole life, ’cause you didn’t throw everything you had away for things you didn’t even remember. It wasn’t fair.”
“Hey.” He looks around and puts his hand over Richie’s, “It’s okay if you like both, you know?”
“What?”
“Men and women. Seriously, it’s fine. You don’t have to pick a side… at least for me. I’m okay with it.”
Richie lets go a small, bitter laugh.
“Yeah, you say that now—”
“And I’ll say it again later if you need me to. I’ll say it every day ’till I leave: there’s nothing wrong about it.”
“Oh, c’mon, don’t make it a coming out story. We kissed and I liked it. I never wanted a guy before, just you. When you leave, this leaves with you.”
“What if you meet another man?”
“It took me forty years to meet you, and we’ve known each other since before I could even read. I think I’ll be fine.”
“You can’t say that. You don’t know that.”
“Listen, Eds,” he starts, firm, “I know one thing: I’ve been treated like a freak almost my whole life. I’ve been punched and kicked and thrown into trash cans. My glasses got broken so many times I ended up buying contacts. And look at me now.” He opens his arms, “Sorry, but I can’t go back to be a freak again.”
Eddie leaves his sandwich on the plate and stands up. Despite how tears are doing everything they can to fill his eyes up, his face stays impassible.
“I never thought you were a freak, Richie,” he says, “And the other Losers didn’t think that, either.” He grabs his coat from the chair’s back, “We used to be enough for you. I’m sorry you need everyone else to love you now. I’m sorry you gave up.”
Richie’s eyes are wide-open.
“Wait, Eds, where you going?”
“I’m leaving, Rich,” Eddie answers, already walking to the door. He hears Richie’s steps behind him, but he doesn’t stop, “Call me when you make up your mind.”
“Man, what the fuck? C’mon, you know I… Eds, please, I… You know how I am, you know I say stupid things…”
They walk out the restaurant, Eddie first and Richie a few steps after him.
“So I have to sit there and be your punching bag, just because you can’t get your shit together?” Eddie demands, face on fire as he turns around to look at him, “You’re fucking forty, Richie, and you still act like a child. I can leave whenever I want, you know? I could have left yesterday if I wanted to. But you said you wanted me to stay, and now it’s like you’re dreaming of the day I’m gone so you can go back to being straight or whatever you are. I felt like a freak, too, but I got over it because I love you. And I grew up in the same town, with the same people and going to the same church. You don’t have an excuse. Next time you’re not sure about being ready for something, just fucking say ‘no.’ Maybe you like losing time, but I don’t have time to lose.”
Putting his fingers against his lips, Eddie loudly whistles to call a cab, which is parking next to the sidewalk within a matter of seconds. He’s about to open the backseat door, when Richie yells.
“And I can’t lose you again!”
Eddie lets go of the handle and looks at him.
“Really, man, what the fuck have you done to me?” Richie continues, “I keep thinking I’m on a nightmare or a bad acid trip, ’cause I can’t believe this shit. I’m… I’m going crazy. This can’t be happening, you can’t be back from death, I can’t… I… I’m not gay!”
Eddie takes a few steps closer, gaze still reluctant. The fact that Richie doesn’t go back isn’t surprising enough to distract him of the topic. When he talks again, his voice is soft, comforting, as he stares into Richie’s eyes.
“No, you’re not gay.”
“I’m not…” Richie mutters, lips trembling.
“You aren’t.”
“I’m not,” he repeats, with more confidence, “I’m not gay. I… I’m… I like… both. I like both, Eds.”
“You like both,” Eddie nods, a smile blossoming on his face as he cries at the same time.
Richie can’t help but laugh out loud. Normally, Richie’s exaggerated reactions would piss Eddie off, but, with this one, he feels like it’s justified. When he figured out his own sexuality, he couldn’t even finish a sentence, when all he wanted to do was shout it at the top of his lungs. He’s just glad Richie has the opportunity to celebrate it as noisily as he wishes.
“Shit, I’ve been such an idiot with you, I’m sorry,” Richie laments, “But this time for real.”
“It’s okay,” Eddie assures him, “You were very confused, I should have been more understanding.”
“Oh, don’t worry, you waited your whole life to get some, it’s fair that you wanted it as soon as possible.”
“Beep-beep, Richie.”
“So, let’s get this one thing straight—”
“We’re not,” he jokes, rolling his eyes.
Richie looks shocked.
“Wow, Eddie Spaghetti gets off a good one!” He exclaims, taking Eddie’s dead hand and giving it a hi-five, “But, seriously, I wanna make sure I got it right… You… like me… in a gay way.”
“True…”
“And I…” He points at himself, “Like you… in a bisexual way!”
“You’ve got it,” Eddie smirks.
“And that means we… you and I… are on a 75% gay relationship.”
“Last time I checked we were just having our first date.”
“Oh, yeah, almost forgot,” Richie coincides, scratching the back of his neck, “I guess I kinda ruined that, didn’t I?”
“Well, not yet… our table is still there. Maybe we could… still have lunch together?”
“You’re okay with that?”
“Sure… Are you okay with that, too? It’s not just about what I want and you’ve been through a lot, so...”
“It’s alright for me.”
“Then let’s go.”
They laugh again and walk inside, playfully bumping into the other’s side, chuckling all the way back to their table.
“I know this is fucked up,” Eddie says, taking his sandwich, “I mean, me coming back, Bill and I in the same body. I guess I focused so much on my own feelings I didn’t think about yours. So, if you have any questions about this—”
“I’ve got a few, yeah.”
“Just ask me. I promise I’ll tell you everything I can.”
Richie takes a sip of his glass of Coke and nods thoughtfully. He puts it back on the table and starts rubbing his own chin.
“I have one…”
“Anything you need to know.”
“If one of you gets a boner—”
“Okay, okay, okay,” he interrupts, “Do you have any non-sexual questions? Something that doesn’t have anything to do with body reactions at all?”
Richie thinks it over.
“Actually… No, not that many.”
“Well, that saves some time.”
They both giggle.
“Hey,” Richie mumbles, “thank you for dealing with me. I know it’s hard.”
“Deal with an arm getting bitten off your shoulder and then talk about hard stuff,” Eddie grins, “But really, don’t thank me. You don’t need to. I’m glad things went this way.”
“You know, I… I think I changed my mind. I do have a question.”
“Tell me.”
“If you survived… if you finished that confession and miraculously didn’t die… what do you think would have happened?”
Eddie gives it a thought.
“I’m not sure. What do you think?”
“Oh, fuck, I think that probably… I would have gotten scared and told you I didn’t feel the same. And we’d have gone back to our everyday lives and forget about each other.”
Eddie nods, contemplatively.
“Well, I don’t think that. I mean, I guess you could have gotten scared or too confused. Maybe you would have rejected me. But I don’t think I could go back to Myra… I wasn’t happy with her and I knew I’d never be. I found out what I wanted when we met again, but I always knew what I didn’t want.”
“Yeah, you’re right. But what if… I don’t know, if actually looking at your face and hearing your voice made it easier to process? What if I said it back and I brought you to California with me and… we got married? Like, big Hollywood wedding? Happy ever after and all that jazz?”
“Maybe,” Eddie chuckles, “But we’ll never know that.”
“No, we’ll never know…”
It’s Richie’s time to take Eddie’s hand. When he feels the pressure of his fingers over his, Eddie freezes.
“I’m glad things went this way, too, Eds.”
Dating is not that bad at all.

The Heart Wants What It Wants
Inspired by this edit
Read on AO3
Summary: Richie and Mike are twins but couldn’t be anymore opposite. Even though Mike is happy with his relationship with Jane (Eleven), he can’t get his brother’s boyfriend out of his head.
Warning: There is this thing called ANGST near the end, so yeah, there’s that.
A/n: I’M STILL A REDDIE SHIPPER! PLUS MILEVEN IS ALL THE FUCKING WAY! I just saw this edit from instagram and I thought it was a cool idea, besides all the angst.
——————
Richie and Mike maybe identical twins, but they couldn’t be anymore opposite then each other. Richie would always be coming up with the most ridiculous ideas while Mike would be needing to calm him down somehow. Even the way they dressed was different! Richie always had his glasses and Hawaiian shirts and ripped jeans. Mike could just be easily found wearing his navy blue hoodie or a decorated sweater and normal jeans. The two do love each other, they just don’t show it much.
“Did you do the homework?” Dustin hoped, pulling out his notebook.
“Yeah, it’s due next lesson,” Will nodded.
“Shit!” Dustin curse as he messily scribbled down something.
“You do this every time with English!” Lucas exclaimed.
Dustin groaned, “I’m sorry, but since when do I need to know Shakespeare’s work on Romeo and Juliet in my life!?”
“Right now would be a great time!” Max groaned.
“What does he do?” Jane asked confused.
“Leave his homework to the last minute as some sort of statement,” Lucas tried to explain.
“Jesus Christ!” Dustin sighed, “Mike, back me up here!”
Mike wasn’t listening to their stupid argument. His mind was far away from what was going on in front of him. Instead, Mike was watching something completely different. His attention was drawn towards his twin brother, Richie and his little boyfriend.
Of course, Richie had once again somehow injured himself. Only god knows how he did it, but there he was with Eddie. The two were sitting on the staircase of the school halls while others past by them. Richie was going on about something he probably saw while Eddie would make a comment here and there.
“Mike? Earth to Mike Wheeler?”
The last bandage went on and Eddie let out a sigh of relief. Richie smiled as he laced his fingers within Eddie’s little fingers. A small smile formed on Eddie’s lips, leaning his head onto his boyfriend’s shoulder. Mike saw his brother say something stupid, earning a disgusted face from the smaller figure. Laughter erupted from Richie as Eddie chuckled along with him.
“Jesus fucking Christ! Mike!”
It didn’t take long for Richie to soon start placing kisses on the side of Eddie’s face. That’s where Mike ruled the line. His eyes darted way from the happy couple. His gut was getting all twisted and jumbled up from what he saw. Mike clenched his jaw as he tried to forget the memory.
He had no idea why the hell he’s been feeling like this for a while. The Wheelers have known the Kaspbraks since kindergarten, they were cabin buddies in the 4th grade! It was just that Richie ended up being the gay, well bi, one of the family. With that, he found out the guy he liked was gay and thought fuck it. Mike knew Eddie was gay, and into guys like Richie for some reason. Hell, Mike wasn’t anywhere near gay, let alone bi like Richie! So then why the living fuck can’t he get Eddie out of his damn mind!
“oh my GOD! MIKE WHEELER!”
“What!?” He finally gave them the attention.
“Lucas is yelling at me for not doing my English homework, but in reality I won’t be needing it in the future!” Dustin tried to catch him up. “Now! Could you please explain to Lucas that there is no reason to study it.”
“You guys are freakin’ children,” Mike rolled his eyes.
“No we’re not!”
“We’re all children, you idiot,” Max corrected them. “We’re still under the age of 18.”
Dustin shook his head in annoyance, “You guys are fucking useless,” stuffing his notebook back into his backpack.
Will looked around, trying to find a clock, but stumble upon something almost illegal, “oh god.”
“What?” Max asked, looking in the same direction. “Is your brother trying to swallow him?”
Mike looked over, only to regret it later in advance. Richie’s arms were wrapped around the smaller figure as he pulled Eddie closer to him. Eddie had both hands on Richie’s face, trying to steady the hormonal boy. Meanwhile, both the boys looked like they were trying to eat each other until one is gone. Mike really wanted to stop the two, he really did, but he knew once he goes over he’ll never hear the end of it.
“Just ignore them,” Jane pulled Mike away.
Lucas, “yeah guys, just ignore them.”
“How about as revenge, dress up as Richie and try to make out Eddie,” Dustin thought.
“And this is why I come up with the ideas,” Lucas sighed.
“Even if I could, or wanted to,” he won’t lie, Mike did want to, just to see what it was like, “Richie tried dressing up as me for halloween, thought I was so emo it would be scary.”
“Did it work?” Will asked.
“He burnt himself with Nancy’s straightener and couldn’t even leave the house without bumping
into something.”
“Why?”
“Probably because a bat can see God compared to Richie!”
The party all nodded and tried to ignore the two. It was like a gift from the Lord when the bell rang. The group disbanded to the classes they had next. Mike, being the gentleman he is, he walked alongside Jane to her next class.
“Are you alright?”
“What?” Mike asked, confused.
“When Lucas and Dustin were arguing, you kept on looking at Eddie and Richie,” Jane explained. “You didn’t look happy.”
“I was just grossed out by them,” Mike shrugged off. “Don’t worry, I’m fine.”
“Are you sure?” Jane asked, a little more hopeful this time.
Mike gave his girlfriend a warning smile, “trust me, I’m alright.”
Jane returned the smiled, then gave him a quick peck before skipping off to her next class. Mike smiled and continued his journey to his own class. That’s when it clicked. Oh shit, Eddie was in his next class.
~~~
“Why is Richie’s t-twin staring at you?” Bill asked, looking behind them.
“I don’t know,” Eddie looked behind him.
Oh god, Mike was full on staring at him. It took Mike a few seconds to realise Eddie made eye contact with him. He shuffled in his chair then starting paying attention to the lector. Eddie rolled his eyes as he pull his phone out.
“Wh-wah-what are you doing?” Bill asked.
“Texting him,” Eddie laid his phone out flat on the table, “cover me.”
Edd K: u need 2 stop starin
Mike’n Ikes: i wasnt starin!
Edd K: bullshit! u left scars on my head!
“What’s he saying?” Bill asked.
“Nothin’ yet,” Eddie sighed.
Edd k: why u starin’ anyways?
Mike’n Ikes: ur big head iz in da way
“Mr. Kaspbrak!” The teacher erupted, making poor little Eddie jump. Her heels clicked against the titles as she strutted forward towards the boys. Her hands were glued to her hips, “texting in my class?”
“I was texting him!” Mike stood up.
The teacher turned around, her stand becoming more strong, “and why would that be?” Mike hesitated, he couldn’t think of a lie right on the spot. “Well Mr.Wheeler?”
There was nothing but complete silence within the air. It would’ve possible to hear a pin drop.
“Still nothing?”
“No, ms.”
“Then how about continuing your conversation in the principal's office?”
“What?” Mike questioned. “Ms, come on!”
“Now!” Then turned back to Eddie, “You too Eddie.”
All Eddie did was groan and flung his backpack over his shoulder. Mike did the same thing and followed Eddie down the hall.
The two boys sat in complete silence, probably planning on how to kill each other. Mike had his backpack by his feet and his hands in his jacket. Eddie had one leg over the other, twiddling his thumbs in stress. Fumes were leaving Eddie’s ears in smoke.
“My mom’s gonna kill me!” Eddie sighed, running a hand through his comb hair.
“Sucks to be you then!” Mike groaned.
“This is your fault!”
“No, it’s not!”
“If you just paid attention, none of this would’ve happened!” Eddie started.
“I told you! Your giant head was in the fucking way!”
“We were on completely different sides of the class!”
“You’re annoying!”
“Why don’t you shut the fuck up Einstein!”
The door opened as a student left the room. It wasn’t surprising that it was Richie himself leaving the principal's office. What was surprising was finding his boyfriend and his brother there though.
“Wait there for a few minutes boys,” the administration instructed, then closed the door.
A smirk grew on Richie, “oh my holy shit!” His smile grew bigger. “What did my little bro and little spaghetti do?”
It was almost like on command, the two said together, “he did it.”
“Woah,” Richie chuckled. “You gotta explain at lunch!”
“I will,” Eddie sighed. “I’ll see you later.”
“See ya,” Richie pecked his cheek, then turned to his brother, “you’re fucked.”
“Piss off,” Mike hissed.
“Whatever you say, little bro,” he smirked, then walked off.
“You’re only older by 8 seconds!”
~~~
“He hasn’t been acting up!”
“Richie! He has!” Eddie tried to get his message across. “He’s been staring at me a lot more the usual, tries to start conversations with me, more touchy-,”
“Touchy!?” Richie stood up properly against the lockers. “How touchy? Touchy as in hand holding, or as in wants to have a taste of your special sauce?”
“Richie!”
“I’m only asking Eds!” Richie defended for himself. “I’ll talk to him.”
“A, stop call me that & B, I better do it,” Eddie groaned.
“You sure? Cause I’ve been told we look almost like clones?” Richie was going on. “You could mistake him for me, and then that could lead to you being on your hands and knees like the other night!”
“Richie! I’ve known the both of you for god knows how long!” Eddie tried to calm him down. “I’ve got it.”
“Ah, Fine!” Richie slouched against the lockers. “I guess I won’t be your knight in shining armour!”
“You aren’t even a Knight!” Stan walked up to the couple, along with Bill and Beverly. “Let alone one in shining armour.”
“Wow, thanks, Stan!” Richie pulled a fake smile, the flipped him off.
“What did the p-principal say?” Bill asked.
“Principal?” Bev asked. “What happened Eddie?”
“Richie’s brother, that’s what happened.”
“Don’t worry Little Eds!” Richie smiled. “I’ve already got my revenge plan.”
“I said I was gonna talk to him.”
~~~
He knew where to go. This place was special to them, the three of them. Now it was different. They grew up and moved on to other things. Yet, whenever one of them is asked to meet here, then it defiantly serious.
This was those times.
Eddie waited for him there. His hands were constantly shaking in fear. The tension was already high in the thick air. He couldn’t wait anymore, where the hell was he?
The sound of gravel being pushed around startled him. Footsteps got louder the closer they came to Eddie. A tall figure took his seat next to Eddie on the log. The two did not make any eye connection whatsoever. Now it was time.
“I called you every night.”
“Yeah, I saw.”
“And did nothing!?” Mike asked, almost sounding heartbroken.
“What was I supposed to do?” Eddie finally looked over to Mike. “It was one stupid kiss, Mike!” Eddie stood up. “We were forced to kiss, remember?”
“Yes!” Mike stood up too. “Very clearly!”
“But that was months ago,” Eddie’s voice was more gentle now. “Mike. Ever since that damn party you’ve been acting differently towards me.”
“I know,” Mike sighed his bottom lip quivering, “and I fucking hate it.”
“If you continue this, Jane’s gonna find out,” Eddie tried to convince him.
Mike licked his lips, “she did this morning.”
“What did she asked?”
“That I was alright,” Mike hesitated, “because I saw you and Richie together, on the stairs.”
Eddie remembered that, oh so very clear. He just didn’t consider who was watching. He and Richie were too caught up in the moment to even care if a teacher had seen them. If only he was cautious a few hours ago.
“Mike,” his voice was soft but broken, “What I need right now is an explanation, not a full one, but at least an idea on what the hell is going on with you!”
“You wanna know!?” Mike cracked. “I wish I knew too!” Eddie was taken by his sudden outburst. “I wanna know why you’re always on my mind! I wanna know why it hurts so much me seeing you and Richie together! I wanna know why I want Richie to hurt you so I could be there for you! THE LIST GOES ON EDWARD KASPBRAK!” Mike had grown sick of this pain, now he was letting go of it. Tears started to drip down his cheeks and onto the gravel. “I wanna know why I’ve felt like this since that damn night.”
Eddie pressed his lips together as he swiped his tears away with his sleeve, “so what? Are you gay now or something ?”
Mike huffed, “I don’t know if this makes me gay, or bi or whatever the hell people want to identify them with these days.” Mike stepped closer to Eddie, the air getting thicker. “All I know is that, whatever these feelings are, there for you.”
“Mike,” Eddie sighed as he tried to hide more of the tears, “you know I can’t accept this, even if I wasn’t dating Richie or if I just wanted to.”
“I know,” Mike let out another tear. “I can’t force you to.”
“I love Richie, you’re twin.”
“That’s the only thing we have in common, besides our looks,” Mike chuckle. “We both love you.”
Another tear left Eddie’s sore eyes, “I really am sorry, Mike.”
Mike nodded, “it’s okay.”
“Goodbye, Mike.”
“Goodbye, Eddie.”
Then like that, he was gone.
mike gets a video camera
some cute headcanons involving mike recording the losers!! also this is kind of got hella long so sorry haha
oKAY so let’s get started…
mike gets a video camera one year from his family on his birthday, and the first thing he does with it is take it to the losers so he could film them all goofing around.
the first thing you see is bev up close to the camera with richie making weird faces, bill yelling at them both to back up as mike laughed at how weird they looked, and eddie’s hand in between their faces flipping the camera off.
bev & richie finally move away and mike faces the camera to stan, who tries to move away but bill and eddie keep him in place. ben is standing beside stan looking awkward as ever but smiling nonetheless.
“we are the losers and we do dumb fucking shit,” mike says to the camera after turning it around to face him, almost like he’s talking to someone. “helL YEAH WE DO” - richie
he has a plan of sorts but no one needs to know that sshhh
the video goes to just show them playing a card game in bill’s living room and eddie yelling at richie about cheating before cutting off.
from there on out mike makes sure that the camera is fully charged and he takes it with him whenever all the losers hang out. they all question it but mike is like “i want to film richie doing embarrassing shit”. it’s a partial lie.
the next video he takes is when they’re at the quarry.
he’s filming them jumping off the cliff and into the water from below. he zooms in on everyone and makes sure he gets them all when they jump. when it’s his turn to jump, he races up there and bill films it.
it’s a bit shaky but that’s ok.
the next shot is them all shouting in the water for a few seconds before it zooms in on bev & ben talking. bev kisses ben’s cheek before swimming away.
cue the ‘oh shit oh shit oh shit’ from mike as he secretly gets it on camera. (he shows richie, bill, stan, and eddie later) (they all f r e a k o u t).
there are other short little videos of richie making jokes and eddie telling him to fuck off/stan declining his hi-fives; stan being a fucking savage back at richie or anyone who pisses him off (aka other kids at school who try and make fun of bill’s stutter) (they all had to defend bill at least once & everyone except the bowers gang soon realized that ‘oh fuck ok can’t mess with the Losers’). other short ones are of beverly telling ghost stories, or ben reading poems out loud, or bill playing the piano. just the tiny little things they all do. there’s a short video of mike singing that ben and richie got one day that mike decided to keep.
but the next long one mike takes is when they’re halfway through freshman year of high school and they’re at the barrens.
it starts off with mike zooming in on an obviously flirting richie tozier and an oblivious eddie kaspbrak by a tree not too far away. then mike moves the camera to stan and bill just a foot away from mike. stan’s on his back pointing to the clouds talking about the different shapes and bill is on his back, too, but staring at stan with a fond smile. then mike moves the camera to bev and ben who are sitting and holding hands. they say they’re not dating but tbh everyone knows it’s buLL SHIT
then mike turns the camera to himself and is like “i’m fucking seventh wheeling, i need a girlfriend”.
but then the next thing mike knows, richie is walking around laughing like a crazy person with eddie over one shoulder as the boy yells to be put down.
“i don’t want my face near your fucking ass, tozier!”
“but i have a great ass eds, even your mom said so last night!”
mike got it all on camera, thank god.
bev shoves them both in a stream near by and everyone laughs their asses off. but then bev gets shoved in by stan, who gets shoved in my bill, who gets pushed in my ben, who gets pulled in by eddie, and mike is laughing as he’s recording the entire thing. later once he’s dry, bill takes the camera from mike and records mike being pushed in the stream by richie and bev.
one of mike’s favorite videos is when they decided to do karaoke night together on the last day of summer before sophomore year. during the day they just hung out and he got a few funny/cute moments before they went to bill’s place and sent up a karaoke machine in the living room. bill’s parents were gone on a trip and wont be back until the next day and georgie was at a friend’s house so it was all good.
it was clip after clip of everyone singing badly to popular songs at the time.
richie and eddie sang africa by toto together, forced by bev. they didn’t want to do it bc “it’ll be gay” “exactly, you two fucking wanna kiss each other so go fucking do it”
cue a blushing reddie and cackling stan
but then stan and bill were blushing when ben and mike made them sing I Wanna Know What Love Is
bev and bill did a duet, too, but they weren’t ashamed at all surprisingly. mike did one by himself before he did don’t stop believing with richie and bill, bev recorded it.
they all sang Eye of the Tiger together at the end. mike propped the camera up so it wouldn’t fall and actually got them all in the frame. it fell over near the end, but thats only because bill was like “fuck it” and kissed stan and the two boys literally fell on the couch. mike didn’t bother telling them he got it on camera.
two days later he recorded everyone acting shocked when richie and eddie said they liked each other and started dating like a month ago.
“THIS IS BRAND NEW INFORMATION” - Stan and Bev acting shocked.
he still talks to the camera about how much he loves his friends and narrates likes a story teller whenever someone is doing something Very Dumb or Embarassing. everyone questions him still but he’s like “it makes the video funnier, leave me a l o n e” (it’s for his Plan that he started when first started the videos ok?)
mike gets a serious girlfriend in his junior year and the losers all come over to his house to help get ready for their first date. ben records it all and mike tells him to put the camera away but he doesn’t listen. mike’s grandpa comes in at some point and ben gets him on camera staring at them all for a moment before excitedly telling them that the girl was here.
richie squealed but denies it. “rich, it’s on vid-” “shuT uP EDS”
there’s a video for every birthday party for each of the loser’s.
there’s a video of them all getting ready for prom at richie’s place because his parents were the only ones not home to yell about them being to rambunctious.
there’s a video of each of the homecoming dances, too; and prom.
there’s a video after prom where they’re all a bit tipsy, maybe high, sitting in a diner and all eating quietly with the occasional giggle or way too deep 2 AM thought from one of them.
there’s a video of graduation + them getting ready for graduation. mike got his family to record them walking down to receive their diplomas. they all hang out after at the quarry and there’s another video of them all jumping off the cliff in the same order when mike first recorded it.
throughout college, they’re in different places but they get together enough for mike to record whenever they do.
there’s one video of him yelling “HOLY SHIIIT” and richie yelling “fUCKING FINALLY” as he zooms in on a ring on stan’s left hand. then he makes it zoom back out so he can get both bill and stan’s faces and they both look so happy, mike actually starts crying.
there’s a similar video of stan and beverly doing the same thing to mike and his girlfriend, now fiancee a year later.
and another similar one with bill and ben doing the same thing a few months later as the camera zooms in on eddie’s left hand before going to both richie’s and eddie’s faces.
once again, it happens with ben and bev, and eddie and mike’s now wife say “HOLY SHIIIT” and “fuCKING FINALLY” for benverly.
and you guessed it, he has a some footage of each of their weddings!!
throughout the years they still hang out, even with their little forming families, and mike starts introducing every kid that comes into the picture and still they’re like “mIKE WHY THE FUCK DO YOU TALK TO THE CAMERA LIKE THAT”
they f i n a l l y find out why when they’re all about in their forties and mike insisted on them all coming to his place, just the seven of them plus his wife because she became an honorary loser when they noticed how in love she was with mike.
mike had found out a way to do a video montage of them all.
“ok ok so we’re going to go see my best friends in the entire world!” video and much younger mike told the camera as he rode his bike. “they’re amazing.”
he took the first footage of them jumping off of the cliff and voiced-over their names and what they were like before it went to the next video he took of them all. they were all confused about where the very first video of them was, tho. mike told them to just watch.
they’re favorite songs were playing in the background the entire time
anytime someone knew was introduced mike would pause on their face and a voice over would say their name and all of that shiz
the video montage basically showed all of their times together from middle school to just a few prior with their families and kids. mike’s wife laughed at the video where they were getting him ready for their first date. beverly shrieked when she saw that he got her kissing ben on the cheek. richie threw a pillow at him for the first few vids of him flirting with an oblivious eddie. stan and bill loved the ones that mike got of them, though, bc they were honestly cute.
after going through all of the kids of the losers, video went back to the very first video he took.
bev let out an ‘o shit’ at suddenly seeing her and richie’s younger faces so up close to the camera with eddie’s hand flipping them all off. richie busted out laughing.
once that video was over it went to bev’s son and richie’s and eddie’s two kids doing the exact same thing. (mike told them to do it). then it panned over to one of stan’s and bill’s kids trying to leave with bev’s & ben’s daughter awkwardly standing beside them and mike’s two kids blocking their way from leaving. it was basically a little replica of what their parents had done.
then at the end, the screen went black before saying “may the 2nd generation of the Losers Club have as much fun as we did”
mike’s and his wife’s kids both have video cameras of their own so they can do the same thing
It Was Always You
So this was written by a friend of mine @princesschelliebelle and she asked if I could post it on my blog because hers isn’t IT or Reddie based, and I said of course because I absolutely love it and I think you all will to! Enjoy!
Eddie could only admit it to himself. He was a coward. Sure, he has the capacity to be more than brave when the time called for it. Hell, if that horrendous experience they all had 4 years ago in the sewers wasn't proof enough, he didn't know what was.
They had all stepped up to the plate, and although Eddie was small and more "fragile" than the rest, he had put in more than enough of his fair share of swings and attacks when they damned that thing back to hell where it belonged. Then why was he so afraid to admit such a huge part of him out loud?
He had just turned 17, and all of the losers were as tightly woven as they ever were, all seniors now at Derry High.
They all seemed to know and be comfortable with who they were.
Beverly and Ben have been dating since sophomore year, going strong and sappy, and certainly a shoe-in to be voted "cutest couple" in the yearbook superlatives this year.
Stan is seeing a nice Jewish girl who attends his father’s synagogue for a couple months now, and though he doesn't speak much about her, he seems fairly happy with her so far.
Mike is too busy for a romantic relationship, between school, helping his family on the farm, and a part-time job, no one blames him for not having the energy to hop into the dating scene.
Bill is happily single, and goes on dates with girls fairly often, but doesn't make anything more serious out of them, and seems quite content to keep things that way.
Richie on the other hand, was different.
Towards the tail-end of freshman year, Richie came out to the losers as bisexual. He had stated it as casually and simply as if he were discussing the weather or a school assignment.
All 6 were supportive of course, but had a few questions for him, of which Richie was incredibly comfortable answering.
"When did you know, Rich?" Bev piped up first. Richie didn't skip a beat before replying
"Part of me has always known. But when puberty rolled around, well, mother nature has a big way of letting you know what you're into...and when I say big, I do mean BIG-".
Richie and his suggestive hand gestures were cut short when Stan thumped a pillow in his face, with an accompanying
"Beep Beep, Dumbass."
Everyone cycled through some more questions, like "are you going to come out to anyone else?" and "have you ever kissed a boy before?".
The only one who sat stark silent was Eddie.
His jaw was clamped shut so hard, his teeth began to ache. He pulled his knees up to his chest and rested his burning face on his kneecaps. Was it hot in here? Does anyone else feel perilously close to passing out?
No, just Eddie?
Richie went on to explain that he was going to live his life authentically, and if he got shit about it from people at school? Fuck it, he already got tons of bullshit from his parents and Bowers and his gang, he is more than used to it.
Eddie felt himself flush all the way up to his ears when Richie spoke again.
He said he never kissed a boy OR girl, and how he wants to kiss someone he can see himself being with, falling in love with.
Eddie released a breath he didn't know he was holding, feeling embarrassingly relieved.
He was also a little surprised at Richie’s oddly romantic statement, which made Eddie's stomach twist in pleasure, despite himself.
Eddie Kaspbrak is gay.
He has known it for as long as he can remember, and he has been denying, suppressing, and suffocating those feelings for almost just as long.
That fateful summer when they were 13, was when he decided to stop lying to himself, albeit keeping it to himself, and himself alone. That was also the summer he realized he had feelings for his best friend in the whole world.
The same one who just happened to admit he was bisexual, with confidence and ease. Something brave that Eddie couldn't bring himself to do.
He hated himself for it.
That horrific day at the Neibolt house, ironically enough, is the day his feelings for Richie were realized.
That evil, fucking clown, leering over him, pinning him down, mocking him, as Eddie cried out in pain and fear, desperately trying to slap the monster with his unbroken arm
Bill and Richie came rushing in, and so did the others in the nick of time. But then, as the clown loomed towards them, claws ripping from his gloves and drool dripping from his rows and rows of razor-sharp teeth, Richie ran to his side.
As Pennywise ominously closed the distance between them, Richie crouched down and forced Eddie's face in his direction.
"Eddie! EDDIE, look at me! LOOK AT ME!" he shouted, keeping Eddie's gaze on him. For all they all knew, they were going to die that day, and Richie's biggest concern was keeping Eddie calm, helping him to be less afraid.
And in those frenzied, panicked moments, Eddie realized that if he was about to go, he was so grateful the last thing he got to see was Richie.
If he died looking at his crazy dark curls, those high cheekbones sprinkled with freckles, those chestnut eyes magnified behind those dorky, thick glasses, and a warm fuzzy feeling in his chest, he figured he had it better than most.
Ever since then, Eddie had it bad.
And god help him, did he have to fall for the most handsy, in your face, crazy person. Every hug, tickle, cheek kiss, tackle, suggestive joke, touch, and flirt was, well...just Richie.
Its how he had been for as long as they all had known each other, which at this point, was a decade at least. He was the quintessential class clown, the "trash mouth", the touchy-grabby, insane goofball who lived to make people laugh, at any cost.
He was this way with all of the losers, it wasn't anything new. Richie couldn't know how it gave Eddie butterflies, how it made his heart stutter, his head go fuzzy...and at times, make his body react in ways he would have to stealthily hide with a pillow, or a jacket, or a book, until Eddie willed it the hell away.
But then again, Richie was more touchy with Eddie than any of the other losers...but that's just because they were closer, right?
Eddie and Richie were walking home from school, the usual ridiculous banter bouncing between them. It was late November, and the air was crisp and a bit biting when the wind blew.
Eddie shuttered at a gust of wind, and turned to his right to see Richie with a large, teasing grin.
"Ahre you chilly, dahling? My, my, where ARE my manners? I can't have my handsome gentleman callah freezing his tits off!" Richie crooned in a god awful southern belle accent.
"Shut up, dick face, Im f-f-fine" Eddie said with a shiver. Richie laughed out loud and shrugged his leather jacket off his shoulders and placed it on Eddie in one swift motion.
"You're gonna freeze stupid, take it back! I appreciate it, but its too cold for you to have no jacket" Eddie said while Richie stomped on some fallen, crunchy leaves.
"Na, Eds, how could I possibly be cold when you keep me so hot and bothered all the time?" Richie replied, swinging an arm around Eddie's shoulder and squeezing him to his side.
Eddie looked down at the pavement to hide his blush and a small grin.
They decided to go to Richie's house. They often alternated, but more often than not, they ended up here. Sonia Kaspbrak was never fond of Richie, and would always make a fuss when he was around too often, so this was typically just easier.
It was a Friday, and it meant they didn't have to bother with homework or worry about how late they stayed up, and they could just have a sleepover, like usual.
As they walked into Richie's room, Eddie found himself softly sighing. He always felt this overwhelming feeling as if he had come home.
Sure, the dirty socks on the floor and the empty soda cans and candy wrappers made his skin crawl, but his room was so comforting in its familiarity. The music posters, the comic books, the bed strewn with his clothes.
Eddie sat down on the edge of his double sized bed. The room smelled like him. It smelt like his warm, spicy cologne, the sweet jolly ranchers that he seemed to have everywhere.
It smelt like fresh air, cigarettes, and something masculine, something that was just him. He felt like he could get high on the scent. And for a moment, Eddie felt like he was losing his damn mind.
Richie waltzed in holding a bag of chips and two bottles of water and jumped on the bed so hard that the springs groaned.
"Jesus, asshole, you aren't a feather, you know!" Eddie laughed and scolded him at the same time. Richie just responded by shoving a handful of chips in his mouth and chewing obnoxiously near Eddie's ear.
Richie certainly had changed in those 4 years since that summer. For one thing, he was tall. Very tall. He sprouted up to 6'2 and was lean, with wirey muscle covering his long, gangly limbs.
His face had matured and lost all that soft innocence of youth, and he had a defined, sharp jawline with cheekbones to match.
Eddie could only wish his changes through the years were as profound.
Eddie was only 5'8 and of average build and weight, very disappointingly ordinary if you asked him. Although he had lost some of the round innocence in his face from childhood, he still had a softness about him, and big round, doe-like eyes.
Eddie often solemnly thought that Richie wouldn't ever consider him in that way, for his plain appearance alone.
Eddie absentmindedly flipped through a random comic he grabbed from Richie’s desk, while Richie appeared to be watching some dopey teenage drama on his small, grainy TV.
The 2 main characters, after enduring sexual tension you could cut with a knife, finally kissed in dramatic fashion.
Richie tossed a potato chip at the screen and scoffed as it bounced to the floor.
"You'd think with me playing for both teams Id have someone by now. After all, I am irresistible" Richie said as he stretched out his legs across Eddies.
Eddie snorted back a laugh and said "Rich, as 'irresistible' as you might be, you actually have to put in an effort. I don't think I've ever seen you on a date, or kiss anyone...". As Eddie trailed off, Richie bit his lip, looking thoughtful.
Eddie could almost feel the shift in the room. For once, Richie was actually being serious. A few moments of silence passed before Richie asked
"have you ever been on a date or kissed anyone, Eds?"
Eddie shifted uncomfortably before telling what was actually the truth.
"Yes, I have actually. I have been on 4 dates, and I kissed each of those girls. It didn't work out, but hey, that's my luck."
And the funny thing was, that wasn't a lie.
Eddie did go on those dates and kiss those girls, but it was his last pathetic efforts to try to be straight. To stop thinking about Richie like that. But at the end of every awkward kiss, he felt weird and detached. It felt like a poorly rehearsed chore.
After the last girl in junior year, he decided to stop this pointless endeavour.
Richie cast his eyes down and shook his head before he spoke
"I’ve actually never kissed anyone at all...I’m 17 and I have never done it..." Richie had said it so quietly, it was almost a whisper. Eddie had so much nervous energy coursing through him he felt like he might jump out of his skin. Suddenly, Eddie felt a surge of courage, something in his gut that said 'now or never'.
"I’m gay, Rich" Eddie murmured, fidgeting with a loose thread on Richie’s shirt.
He felt as though his whole body had pins and needles, and he felt his chest tighten with anxiety.
Eddie tried to laugh off the serious admission by following it with,
"And hey, don't feel like you're missing out too much. Kissing isn't all its made out to be. I never felt any fireworks, and those poor girls probably thought they were kissing a dead fish". He half-heartedly chuckled.
He couldn't meet Richie’s gaze. The unusual silence made Eddie want to scream. You could hear a pin drop.
The one-time "trashmouth" Tozier had nothing to say, and it was killing Eddie with every moment that passed.
 Suddenly, Eddie felt sick. A wave of nausea, sadness, pent-up emotion that felt like a sucker punch to the gut. He also felt like a fool. He told his best friend, the only person he has ever told, that he was gay, and all he could do was sit there and stare.
When a man of many words suddenly is at a loss for them, Eddie could only assume the worst. Tears pricked at his eyes and stung. One lonely tear trickled down his hot cheek. Richie finally spoke.
"I never kissed anybody because I never found anyone available who I felt a special connection with. Someone to be vulnerable with. Someone who understands me." He paused, and then continued
"And I think that you're wrong." Eddie sniffled pathetically and looked up at Richie at last.
Richie’s cheeks were blazing red, and he looked so beautiful.
"What was I wrong about, Rich?" Eddie asked as Richie shifted closer on the bed.
"Well, I may not have kissed anyone, but I think it is worth the hype, Eds." Richie said quietly, as his eyes dropped to Eddies soft, parted lips. Eddie felt his heart start to race, as he dared himself to say
"Well, how can you prove that?"
Richie’s tongue darted out to wet his lips, and he let out a shuttering breath. Eddie felt paralyzed to his spot on the bed.
Before Eddie could have another thought, Richie leaned forward and pressed his lips to Eddies. Eddie didn't have the vocabulary to explain how good it felt.
It was a brief kiss, close-mouthed, and soft, 4 or 5 seconds at most. But in all of his life, he hadn't felt anything like he had in those brief moments.
A spark isn't enough to explain it. It was a like an electrical circuit was finally connected, completed, and a powerful and euphoric energy passed back and forth between them. It took his breath away.
Richie pulled away and laid his head back on the pillow. Richie’s heart was beating so fast that he was shaking ever so slightly. Richie said, in a shaky voice
"Well....at least for me, I think I proved my poi-"
But he was cut off by Eddie's lips on his once more. But this time, Eddie wasn't holding back. He had wanted this for so long, that he had not one more ounce of restraint.
He kissed him firmly, over and over, leaning his chest against his, barely allowing either of them to breathe.
He had a taste, and now he was addicted.
He moved his mouth down Richie’s jaw and kissed underneath it and all down his neck. Richie moaned softly, and Eddie felt himself grow hard at the sound.
Suddenly, Richie flipped Eddie over and crawled between his legs, one knee on either side of his leg. He leaned down and ran his tongue along the edge of Eddies lower lip. Eddie had to suppress a shiver as he opened his mouth to give him access.
Eddie could hardly believe that Richie had never done this before. His kisses were soft but passionate, wet but not sloppy, and it drove Eddie absolutely fucking wild.
Apparently, Eddie wasn't the only one being driven crazy though. Richie came closer and pushed his body against his, and Eddie could immediately feel how hard Richie was against his thigh.
It made Eddie moan out loud. Heat coiled tight in his stomach, and he felt almost drunk. He reached up a wove his fingers in his thick curls, and gently tugged.
Richie sat up and pulled Eddie with him so he was seated on his lap, and then roughly ran his fingertips up and down his back.
Somewhere, in a teeny tiny part of his mind, Eddie thought 'This is amazing, but its new. Slow down'.
To say this was like a drug would be an understatement, but he knew they had to stop, for the moment anyway.
After what felt like an eternity of arguing with his better sense, Eddie pulled away. Richie adorably whimpered at the loss of contact. It took all of Eddie's strength to put this moment on pause, but he had something to say, before they got carried away.
They sat there catching their breath, before they were consumed with a fit of giggles. They couldn't explain why or contain it, but they kept laughing until their sides hurt.
Once he regained composure, Eddie began to speak.
"After the worlds best make-out session and the biggest confession I’ve ever made, I’m having trouble processing my thoughts. So please forgive me if this is a crazy ramble, ok?" Richie leaned against the headboard and nodded.
"Dude, you are loud, crude, a total and complete slob, and you have no concept of personal space. You tell the most stupid jokes and at least half of your accents are crap, and you drive the other losers insane like you have a quota to meet."
Richie furrowed his brow, looking almost embarrassed. Eddie continued before Richie could speak,
"But...one thing remains consistent. When I’m with you, I feel like I can overcome anything, like I can conquer the world. You don't make my weaknesses feel like a flaw, just another piece of me. No one I've ever known cares more, protects more, or makes me laugh the way that you do. At the end of the day, you have so much love to give. How could I not fall for you?"
Eddie gulped and stared at the pattern on the bedspread.
"You don't have to feel the same way, Rich...I get it, I really do. I mean, you've waited this long to find that special person...and I’m just me. We can pretend this never happened, if you want. I just want you to be happy...."
Eddie was frantic, tears blurring his vision. Richie sat up, leaning forward quickly, grabbing Eddie's hands in his enormous ones, and spoke.
"Hey dipshit, its always been you."
Eddie whipped his head back up, and looked at him incredulously.
"But...but..." Eddie began, but Richie piped up again,
"I never thought you were an option available to me. And god fucking knows its difficult to be with someone else when everything you want is around you almost every single day. It has always been you, it will always be you, Spaghetti." Richie smirked broadly at him, and Eddie lunged forward and squeezed him so hard to him that Richie let out a little squeak. Eddie leaned in to whisper in his ear
"Don't call me that. Way to taint the best moment of my life, fuckface"
Eddie began to laugh at the familiar joking between them. From now on, so many things wouldn't be the same. It was a kind of scary feeling. Richie cupped Eddie's face and gently kissed his forehead, sighing happily.
Eddies heart swelled inside his ribcage, and Eddie found himself thinking that he actually hoped nothing would ever be the same again.
Blue moon You saw me standing alone Without a dream in my heart Without a love of my own
Eddie--Nor Richie-- didn’t intend for anything to happen that summer leading up to now. It wasn’t like Eddie wanted to visit Derry in the first place, but the constant “Eddie Bear you need to visit!” and “Your aunties miss you!” from his aunts irritated him to the point where he booked the flights to Derry himself. After a long and extremely worded lecture (and a lot of yelling) from Sonia Kaspbrak, both of them set off on a summer that would change everything.
Now don’t get Eddie wrong, he loved his aunts to death (and would much rather live with them than that momster), but he couldn’t take an entire summer of endless cheek pinches and sloppy kisses on the cheek. He knew he had to make the most of his time so he may as well explore the town--Not that there’s was much to explore anyway.
It wasn’t until he found himself walking through a forest that lead him to a quarry. He found himself not staring at the summer day in front of him, not the way water sparkled nor the way the soft summer breeze blew every now and then. No, he found himself staring the boy in front of him. He didn’t understand why, he only knew what the back of the boy looked liked. For all Eddie could know, this boy could be a serial killer. Maybe he was surprised that someone was here, someone was in this dead beat town.
After an awkward greeting--well mainly awkward for Eddie, Richie didn’t seem to ever stop talking once he uttered a noise--Eddie found himself falling easily for a boy he’d only known for what? An hour? Or could it have been six? Richie truly didn’t know when to stop talking, but Eddie loved it.
It was a shock to Eddie that Richie had a loud personality. He’s never one to judge so quickly but Eddie found the boy sitting by himself, listening to Africa by Toto, while smoking. He seemed like a loner.
“Says Eds, tell me something,” Richie spoke slightly lowering the radio.
“Yeah?” Eddie looked up, “Also, stop calling me Eds,” He quickly added.
“Cute! Cute! Cute!” Richie leaned over and pinched his cheeks, “Ever been in love?”
Eddie practically choked on air but it did get him thinking, has he ever been in love? Sure he’s had a couple of boys here and there, some relationships lasting longer than others, but he’s never actually been in love. Maybe some feelings towards his previous boyfriends had been stronger than others but nothing to ever consider being in love. Love was almost foreign to him.
“No,” Eddie broke the silence but continued, “My turn to ask you a question!”
“Hit me with it spageds,” Richie chuckled, taking a puff from his cigarette.
“Spageds? That’s the best you can do?”
“It’s a work in progress.”
Eddie took a deep breath but bit back a smile anyways, “As someone who’s only been visiting for two days, do you ever think about leaving this town? I mean, there’s nothing here.” Eddie looked around the quarry.
“No.” Richie simply replied.
“No?”
“I’ve never thought about it. Not until now anyways,” Eddie patiently waited for Richie to continue, “I’ve never thought about it because I didn’t need to. I’ve never had anything to run towards but now, today in this very moment, I know where I need to run to,”
“Where?”
“You.”
Blue moon You knew just what I was there for You heard me saying a prayer for Someone I really could care for
It was finally the day of the dance. Most high schools would get into the spirit, hanging posters and the constant PA reminders that ticket sales go up every week. However, Derry high had been nominated by a TV station to host a dance competition during the event. Eddie didn’t pay much attention to the eagerness from everyone at school, it was something about the two winners getting a pretty big money prize. But in all honesty, Eddie could care less. He was more worried about being outed to the entire school--and on national television to make matters worse.
 Eddie was not--and will never--be ashamed for being gay. Richie neither will ever be ashamed to be bisexual but living in a conservative town where almost everyone will absolutely shit on you for being anything less than straight can be alarming--to say the least.
As much as both boys wanted to hold onto each other and dance together just like every other straight couple, it just wasn’t possible.
Both boys walked into the gym, their entire ensemble of the Pink Ladies and T-Birds following right behind them.
“Says Eds, how about I get us some punch?” Richie awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck.
“As long as you don’t spike it Tozier,”
Richie smirked, “Can’t make any promises my love!” He walked away with a wink, giving Eddie the familiar feeling of butterflies in his tummy.
“Everything all right Bev?” Ben asked. Bev sticked out like a sore thumb, a hair wrap was around her head. Whatever she was trying to hide, wasn’t subtle at all.
“Peachy Benjamin,”
“Bev?” Eddie slowly asked.
“Eddie I’m fine! Everything is alright!” Bev tried to reassure the boys but failed. Bev ended up stomping away to the bathroom with a poor Ben following behind in her in hopes to cheer her up.
Eddie went ahead and found a table large enough to hold the nine leaving the remaining four at the entrance of the dance.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t sunshine and rainbows for the rest of the group.
While Audra and Mike were a happy couple, that still didn’t stop them from being racially discriminated against. It took Mike ages to convince his parents to let him go to public school once homeschooling for middle school ended. He didn’t realize exactly why his parents didn’t want him going to public school once he experienced how cruel kids can be. Being in the T-Birds gave him a place, but he still felt he could be much more than this.
Audra was Mexican (A/N: There’s not enough latinx representation nowadays so I’m making Audra Mexican-American. Also ya girl is Mexican so this is me trying to live through my stories.), both of her parents were immigrants, but Audra herself was born in America but being the daughter of the only two Mexicans living in an almost-all white conservative town was more than difficult.
Being something other than white or straight instantly made you a bad person. No one could look past your skin color or your sexuality, they define you because of that. They don’t define you because of who you are.
While Audra and Mike got nasty and dirty looks from practically the entire gym, they pushed it to aside and let themselves be together.
This wasn’t the case for Stan and Bill.
While most of the school suspected Stan liked boys, they couldn’t think the same for Bill. It was one thing to suspect but to completely out someone is another thing.
Stan was the rabbi’s son, he had to live up to expectations. If his father even heard a word about Stan being gay, it was over.
Bill was close with his parents, but he still hasn’t come out to them--thinking of the idea scares him. His little brother Georgie on the other hand, he knew. When Georgie was nine, he found a fourteen year old Bill crying in the middle of the night. After a long talk and explanation of what being pansexual meant, Georgie was quick to accept him. Now being twelve, Georgie still loved his older brother with everything inside of him.
Despite the rabbi’s son, Stan himself was never religious. Sure, he attended every ceremony at the temple and even read from the torah at his bar mitzfah, but he was required to do that. Stan wasn’t religious, but if there was just one thing he could pray for, he would pray for Bill. He would pray to find happiness with Bill.
From the corner of his eye, he could see Henry and his gang smirking at them. Bill seemed to notice this because he quickly made his way over to the table.
If a prayer truly worked, Stan was praying for a miracle.
And then there suddenly appeared before me The only one my arms will hold I heard somebody whisper please adore me And when I looked to the moon it turned to gold
The TV crew had been setting up for the big competition, people lining up at the restrooms to fix themselves up while others began to make their way towards the dance floor.
“Hey Eds! We should join!” Richie suggested.
“Sure if you want the entire country to find out we like dick,” Eddie remarked then continued, “And stop calling me Eds!”
“Aw yeah! Spaghetti man with the dick jokes!”
“Beep beep Tozier.”
“Hey! Hey!” Richie put his hands up in defense, “You’re technically not wrong but that’s not the point. We don’t need to get up in each others ass to win the competition--I’ve already got your mom for that--the teachers will be on us if we even try. It’s disco isn’t it? We don’t need to do anything couply we just need to do something entertaining.”
“I hate the fact that you actually have a brain in that head of yours.” Eddie sighed while Richie smiled.
“What should-”
“Richie!” A voice squeaked from behind.
Richie whipped around and saw his ex girlfriend heading towards him, her arm locked around the one and only Henry Bowers.
“Greta, hi.” Richie clenched his teeth together and took a deep breath.
“Who’s this?” Eddie whispered from behind Richie.
“Hi hun, I’m Greta,” She stuck her hand out in front of Eddie the continued, “I’m sure Richie has told you how great I am in bed?” She sneered.
“He would have told me if you really were,” Eddie muttered under his breath. Both Greta and Richie heard this, Greta bit back the urge to launch herself at Eddie while Richie tried to subtly hide his laugh with a cough.
“See you in the competition Richie-kins!” She blew a kiss towards his direction and dragged Henry away.
“Richie-kins?”
“Let’s not talk about it.”
“Ladies and gentlemen! Gather around! Our annual high school dance off is about to begin!”
Everyone gathered with their respective pair and waited until the principle stopped talking about the rules.
The principle finally walked off stage and the music began. Some couples were immediately eliminated while others tried to out-dance other couples. Some couples went for a simple attempt at the disco while others went for hand-jives.
The cameras were going around the dance floor, people tried to make their selves seen but were removed from the floor. Eddie could feel himself getting more and more nervous as the camera got closer. Richie didn’t seem to care, he was in his element. As the camera reached the two boys, Eddie instantly made a B-line for anywhere but the camera.
Richie’s face dropped, he tried to follow Eddie but was stopped when someone pushed him back. This ‘someone’ happened to be Greta herself.
“Where you doing handsome?” Greta whispered.
The pair were one of the only few standing left and it didn’t help that the host was encouraging them to dance while pointing the camera at them. Richie had no other choice but to finish the competition with a new partner. He seemed to forget about Eddie in that moment, but Eddie most certainly didn’t forget. He saw the whole ordeal go down.
Eddie ran out of the high school gym and ran all the way straight home.
