So, I’ve been working on a new OC, Alice. She’s the most developed OC I’ve worked on in years, but I don’t know what I’m gonna do with her yet.
I also happen to be hyperfixated on Metal Lords right now and I’ve been thinking about just putting her in a Metal Lords fic cuz I’ve already got a brief idea for that but I don’t know. The fandom’s kinda small and like, this wouldn’t be romance or anything like that, I don’t think. I’d probably just drop her into the world and then just freewrite, basically. But I don’t feel like anyone would read it. A fic for a small-ish fandom that has an OC but no, like, active romance or anything? I feel like no one would care enough to read it. Especially since I know a lot of people are kinda weird when it comes to OCs in fanworks.
And like, this would be the first time I’ve written anything in years so it’d really mess with my head if I put time into writing something and didn’t get any sort of response or feedback at all so even if I do write it, I’m probably not gonna post it cuz I would literally rather get the worst of the worst of internet hate than work on something, work through the anxiety of posting it, then have it flop.
It’s the anxiety thing that’s stopping me, tbh. Like, I have a lot of anxiety about posting online in general and it really sucks when I actually beat that anxiety and make a post only for no one to respond or interact with it in anyway? Like, if I wanted to scream into the void, I’d just write in my journal and skip the anxiety part all together. It’s part of the reason that on my old blog, even before the shadowban, I just lurked and reblogged and didn’t make original posts. Like, I’d rather just skip the entire anxiety thing all together.

During a busy morning in London, writer Anakin meets a beautiful American woman after she is hit by a car, not used to the direction of traffic in England. On their walk back from the hospital, they stop by Postman's Park. Anakin asks her name, which she gives as ‘her name’. They soon become lovers.
One year later, Anakin has written a novel based on his lover’s life.
He truly loves you so much, the novel is full of stuff about you. How much he adores you, the things he likes about you, his relationship and daily life with you too. You worked at a local café in the mornings and as a stripper during nighttime. Who would have thought that a writer and a stripper would be such a match?
To him you were pure drug. His muse. His soul. Tormenting him. Your body, your eyes, your lips your tits, your thighs. Everything made him crave you more and more day by day.
On the weekends, when you were usually finishing from work before 2am, he drove you back home. After arriving home from the strip club, he bathed you slowly, touching all the right spots in the process, washed your hair throughly and lit candles to make a more romantic atmosphere.

Thoughts that I wanted to share about the brothers Hawthorne/ the grandest game bc I don’t wanna make a million posts about each one 💀
1: Phone girls dad literally shot himself ON. HER. BIRTHDAY. 😭😭
2: Skye Hawthorne MIGHT be in the grandest game, because when Avery got bombed and Ricky and skye got arrested for it, they found out that it actually wasn’t them which means they prob got out of jail (maybe not Ricky but probably skye) and she might be controlling one of the players
3: WE’LL PROBABLY GET TO SEE A SUNSHINE X GRUMPY TROPE!! (Mathias and Gigi)
4: we’ll see which 7 contestants avery will pick for the game!! (While I was writing that instead of contestants I accidentally put tributes 💀)
5: we might learn more about Toby’s backstory (or just the Hawthorne backstories in general, like Zara’s, nans or Alice’s)
6: speaking of Alice, SOMEHOW THAT OLD GRANDMAS GOING TO BE ALIVE
7: this isn’t really a prediction but more just like a possible hint for the grandest game, but when grayson tells his brothers about the riddle “what begins a bet? Not that”, Jameson says this

Basically most of the words on there kind of show “misinterpretation” or just different words for some sort of mistake, so would that mean that the “beef” (im just gonna call it that bc I don’t rlly know what went down) between tobias and thomas thomas was maybe accidental?? Or maybe they got into a disagreement that ended in thomas ending his life? All the book really shows is that one paragraph (that I highlighted in green) that talks about what Jameson thought of the riddle, and then Jameson was talking to Avery about the game (probs bc jlb didn’t wanna drop too many hints lmao) And then if you add it in with the “abet” theory ⬇️

It said that one of the opposites of a handshake were “refusal” and “disagreement”, so what if tobias had wanted thomas to aid one of his crimes and thomas refused, and maybe tobias gave him an ultimatum which is why he shot himself?? It’s so confusing bc what would tobias even do that was so horrible that thomas had to shoot himself, I really don’t know. but if anyone has some theory’s on this pls lmk! 🫶
8: holy guacamole 7 was a long one, but anyway i feel like there are definitely more hints on the grandest game in the brothers Hawthorne then there were in the final gambit, even though in (i think tig is the one that clue was from?) the inheritance games “special” edition bc idk what their called it said “hints in the final gambit”. (although one loose end from tig was David Golding, and @riddles-n-games had a good theory about that) But i read the final gambit entirely and didn’t find a single clue other than David, so that’s kinda weird (unless somebody else found something else they found interesting in that book?)
9: Eve might also be behind one of the players, or just trying to get involved with the game so she could get the cash prize or whatever else it is that that psycho needs 🙄
10: we’ll (most likely, bc I’m 99.9% sure that she’ll be in tgg) see what phone girl looks like and see which one of us were right 😜
11: kinda random but i will bet a whole 5 dollars that phone girls name is either gonna be flower related, or just straight up be lily. Or maybe both, but just think of how ironic that would be (there are calla lilys all over the cover of tgg… 🤷‍♀️)
12: LIBBY NASH WEDDING!!! 🤭🤭🤭💗
13: so off topic but WHERE DO GRAYSON AND JAMESON GET THEIR MONEY FROM??? like I’m sure jameson probably gets some cash from his billionaire girlfriend, but what about grayson?? he says in tbh that he’s “buried in work” but what kind of work does he do?? and who does he work for?? 🤨
14: Okay this is gonna be the last one bc i need to shut up, but does anybody have an idea on what some things in the grandest game cover might symbolize? we know about the lilys and the opal rings, but other than that i CANT seem to figure out anything else on there 😭😭

Okay I think I’ve finally come up with a plot for that jervis story I was telling you about. This is pretty long- I’m sorry 😭
Basically could follow the same plots as the ‘come on Eileen’ story with an age gap but obv themed for Jervis’s character. For the sake of everything, since this could be already dark-ish, instead of Alice being his sister, she’s his coworker. Very similar story tied with the btas version. Anyways continuing that, let’s say reader is Jim and Barbara’s kid all the way from episode 1 when they were still in there couple era (I miss it 😔). Jim had custody over reader when Barbara was sent to Arkham but once she’s out and running the sirens club, her and Jim come to an agreement for the sake of the reader to co-parent. Reader is about 10-13 during that time and then jumping to like season 3 with jervis being introduced, reader is around 17-19 (I’m not sure if this is the realistic time jump but whatever). During the first episode with how Barbara introduces tabby to jervis, imagine that same scenario but with reader also present. Jervis realizes how much reader reminds him of the book version of Alice with their curiosity, ambition, etc. I’d like to imagine Barbara finds it cute in a way similar with that one fix you did when jervis was leaving stuff for the reader while tabby is like “Stay away from the baby 😡”.
Now when Alice gets killed, we know jervis makes him go through all these games of killing and stuff and then he has to choose the one he loves. Instead of Val, it’s reader. As much as Jervis doesn’t want to hurt his current crush, he tries to be nicer about it and shoots them where the bullet won’t damage them as bad?? Idk where else I’m goin with this lol. I’ll let you come up with whatever else you wanna do. Be creative if you’d like.
I’d say basically it follows the plot of season 3 but without Alice and reader is present.

You feel like your ten again, staring into space, watching the passerby's from inside a Gala. You're mother used to take you there, when you're dad wasn't available.
You sometimes miss it, even though you used to complain. You hated just sitting there, hours on end, seeing rich people dance; like there weren't people being murdered on the street two blocks down. Maybe you took after your father in that aspect. It was a curse.
Your mom used to do your hair. You remember the way she finger-twirled your curls, gasping as she looked in the mirror. Eyes wide, she always said the same thing.
"Look at you, you're gorgeous!" You'd laugh and hit her on the shoulder, young and innocent. Sometimes, you'd make a mess of her lipsticks and bronzer. You'd try on her dresses which were far too tall for your young stature.
The sound of yelling rips you away from your thoughts.
This place isn't a gala. It's a club. And you didn't get ready with your mom, you got ready in the morning, waking up alone in your dads house.
You watch the two men argue from across the bar. You're cradling a drink; unsure what to do with it. Selina had stole it for you, somehow. You didn't ask questions anymore. You'd known her since you were eleven and she was eight. You didn't really like to drink. She knew that. You don't know where she ran off too.
Mindlessly stirring your glass in your palm, you can't help but squint under the bright blue lights. This place...it's not your first choice of where you'd like to be right now. Never is.
You hear a feminine voice calling you to the front of the club, and you can already guess who it is. You haven't seen her in a little over a week, not that it matters.
You decide to down your drink anyway. Who cares.
Pushing your way through the crowds of Gothamites, you notice the stage light up. Your mother and Tabitha stand in grand dresses. Tabitha's resting, one arm on the bar, looking effectively bored out of her mind. Your mother, on the contrary, looks utterly pleased. You fight the urge to snort.
There's a man on the stage. Long hair, cat-like smile. Your eyes follow the contours of his cheek bones. He's spouting something about waking up from an animal-identity. You're frankly lost, staring into his dark eyes. They look pitch black.
Sounds of clapping arise from the back. You simply suck your teeth. Someone new comes into the club everyday with a different act. This guy certainly wasn't any different.
"A magician? Really?" Tabitha asks, interrupting your thoughts. She sounds displeased and confounded, unsure what to make of Barbara's smile.
"Hypnotist." Your mom answers, correcting her. Ah, so thats what he is. You think. Couldn't hypnotize himself to have a better act? You almost make yourself laugh. Barbara mistakes it for agreeance.
"See! I like him! Y/N likes him!" Barbara chimes, smile lighting up to be a bit more genuine at your laugh. "Like mother like daughter. Plus, the place is packed. Be happy." She waves her drink around. Tabitha still looks peeved.
You want to correct her, but the words 'like mother like daughter' make bile rise in your throat. You don't speak.
"Just a taste, ladies and gentlemen." The man purrs, pulling your attention to him. That dark stare of his never once leaves the crowd. "But now...let us venture into something more arcane."
His eyes drift to you in the crowd, and it feels like a jolt of electricity. You wonder if he feels it too. He must have, since he cocks his head, pausing in his words for a little too long. His brows furrow, until the crowd begins to murmur. It's awfully intense.
You tear your gaze away to look at your mom, wondering if she was who he was looking at instead. It would certainly make more sense, given they must've been around the same age. But as soon as your gaze leaves his, the man clears his throat, and goes right back to speaking.
"The hell was that?" Tabitha whispers to me, and my mind goes blank.
"...No clue."
We watch the rest of the act, intrigued. He makes a man stand on the back of a chair, which definitely does not obey the laws of physics whatsoever. I can see why some people might find this amusing.
Your mom does bring up a good question though.
"So you could get him to do anything you wanted?" She asks, abet too excitedly. You want to roll your eyes. When you were younger, she would've made fun of this guy with you.
The man looks between the two of us, and you squint your eyes.
"Did you have something in mind, Ms. Kean?" He asks, and her gaze darkens. You feel a little sick.
As the act finishes, the man takes one too many bows, but the crowd eats it up. That blinding blue light still bounces off his face. Something about it is...unsettling. You notice it more as he stalks towards the three of you.
"Very impressive, Mr. Tetch." Your mom compliments. Mr. Tetch, huh. Well, you finally have a name for the man. "You have quite the gift. But you didn't answer my question. Can you make people do anything you tell them to do?" She speaks, slowly. Mr. Tetch looks flattered at the praise.
He clicks his tongue. "Only things they secretly wish to do," he remarks, eyes falling on me once more. "It's surprising what people will wish for," His eye contact remains on you, voice getting quieter. "Secretly. Deep down." He repeats.
Your mother makes a sound akin to a pleased hum. Tabitha looks between the man and you, and she looks less than amused.
"True," Tabitha speaks, pushing you to the side a bit. You watch as his gaze leaves yours, and snaps up to her. There's a ghost of a scowl on both of their faces that suddenly makes you confused. "You must be a very popular man."
She takes a swig out of her drink as she says the words, a bit sarcastically. Mr. Tetch, or whatever his name is, doesn't falter in his resolve. He instead offers a polite chuckle.
"Oh, I wish. Parties like this help pave my way, so, thank you."
"And you're new to Gotham?" Your mom asks.
"Yes...just arrived from up north."
"You have a place to stay?" Tabitha asks, head cocked. You begin to feel a bit embarrassed, heat rising in your clothes. They're asking the guy way too many questions. And he's a new comer. Poor man probably doesn't know a thing.
Before the man can answer, you butt in.
"Let the man breathe." You huff, and all three of them look at you in unison. Eyes-narrowed on you, the man blinks. Barbara looks at you, surprised, and Tabitha glares daggers.
Silence surrounds the four of you, and you shiver uncomfortably.
"Just saying." You mumble. Barbara raises an eyebrow.
"You'll have to excuse her. This is my daughter, Y/N."
Jervis's face lights up in realization.
"Ah, I see." He remarks, taking your hand. Tabitha instinctively steps close, watching the way he takes it. He presses a soft kiss to your knuckles. "Pleasure to meet you, Ms. Y/N."
"Thank you," You say, softly, looking into his eyes. It really does feel like time stops. You can understand why people are hypnotized by him.
Tabitha finally steps in between you two, as Barbara watches the interaction with vague intrigue. He drops your hand with some reluctance. You don't blame him.
"I think you should get going." Tabitha says, firm. The man simply nods.
"Very well. Enjoy your night." He speaks. "Ms. Kean, Ms. Y/N." He bids one last nod of goodbye, before turning on his heel.

You woke up in your apartment, like any other day.
You made yourself breakfast, went to work, came home, had dinner, and went back to sleep. That's a normal day for you.
You live a boring life. You're ok with that, but sometimes you wished it was more exciting.
Today, two people moved into the apartment next door to yours.
You baked them some cookies, and knocked on their door, tray in hand, as a way to welcome them.
Your life was about to get much more exciting.
You knocked on the door, and waited for a response.
The door was opened by a teen with ginger hair. He couldn't have been older than 16. A bit young to be living alone but, eh, it's not your problem.
"Hi there! I live next door, and I thought I'd bring something over for you, kinda like a house warming gift!" You explained to him, handing him the tray of cookies you'd made.
"Oh wow, thanks." He said. "Hey, what's your name?"
"My name?"
"Yeah, my roommate and I... aren't from around here. It'd be nice to have someone to go to if we're ever, y'know, in trouble."
"Well, I guess that makes sense." You said. "I'm (Y/N). Nice to meet you."
"D'you wanna come in?"
"Uh... s-sure!"
This person, this ginger boy... he looks strangely familiar. But you're almost 100% sure you've never seen him before.
You entered his apartment. It was very empty, aside from some very basic furniture. On the couch sat a boy with navy blue hair, petting a cat.
"Hm? Who's that, Ace?" The boy on the couch asked.
"This is (Y/N), they live next door. Oh! And they made cookies for us!"
"Ooh, what kind?"
"Uh, just normal cookies... made from store-bought cookie dough..." You admitted. "Sorry, it's nothing special, but I wanted to do something nice, you know...?"
"No, it's fine, (Y/N)!" The blue haired boy told you. "We really appreciate it!"
"Oh geez, I didn't introduce myself." The ginger boy said. "Uh, my name's Ace Trappola, that's my roommate Deuce Spade, and that's our... cat, Grim."
"Nice to meet you two, o-or three, I suppose!" You sweetly said. "I don't mean to pry into your private lives, but, ah, aren't you two a bit young to be living alone?"
"Sixteen plus sixteen is thirty two, so combined I think we're old enough." Deuce explained. "I think we'll be fine."
"Oh! Ok, well, if you two ever need anything, I'm just next door!"
You decided to go home, since you still need to make yourself dinner. You couldn't help but think, that... Ace and Deuce look really familiar. And you swear you've heard their names before, but... you've never met them before.
"The cookies aren't as good as Trey's, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, since Trey makes his completely from scratch." Deuce said, eating one of the cookies.
"Maaan, it sucks pretending to be a cat." Grim pouted. "I wanna use my magic again!"
"Believe me, so do I." Ace said, sighing. "But hey, we'll be back home soon enough. And we'll be bringing them back home, too."
"Ace, gimme a cookie." Grim demanded.
"Nah."
"WHAT?! GIVE IT NOW!"
"Go eat trash off the ground!"
"Can you two stop yelling?" Deuce asked. "We don't want (Y/N) to know yet, do we?"
Grim grabbed a cookie, and he and Ace glared at each other.
"I do feel a bit sad that they don't remember us, though..." Deuce said, continuing to eat his cookie. "I know they think everything was a dream, and you sorta immediately forget about dreams when you wake up, but..."
"They'll remember soon. If we're lucky... they'll remember once it's too late." Ace smirked evilly.
As the days went on, you got to know Ace and Deuce better. They seemed to be nice enough people, two boys sharing a braincell trying to live alone. Sometimes they'd come over to your place to watch tv (since they didn't have one), in fact, the three of you had a movie night where you watched Alice In Wonderland together.
They would come over and ask you for help with various things, things that you assumed they'd know how to use... but that's none of your business.
Tonight, they made you a cake. They said it was a 'thank-you' gift for all the help you've given them. They mentioned that Grim helped too, but very quickly said it was a joke.
Something about the cake tasted... off.
Oh, but that's fine! Ace and Deuce are stupid teens, after all, they probably just misread the recipe!
You got up from your seat when you finished your slice of cake.
You felt woozy...
"Ace, Deuce, what..." Before you could ask them what they put in the cake, you collapsed onto the floor.
"Nice! It worked!" Grim said, excited.
"Shush, Grim! (Y/N) just collapsed, which probably made a lot of noise, so if the other people in the building hear someone yelling 'iT wOrKeD!' that's probably gonna set off some alarm-bells!" Ace whisper-yelled.
"I guess you're right." Grim admitted.
"The mirror's right there." Deuce pointed to the mirror hanging just above your couch.
"Alright. Deuce, grab their legs. I'll grab their shoulders, we'll carry them into the mirror and bring 'em home." Ace said. "Grim, you just keep a tight grip on me so you don't get lost in some other dimension while we're travelling."
"Got it!" Deuce and Grim responded.
Ace and Deuce grabbed hold of you, lifting you off the ground, and Grim wrapped his arms around Ace's neck.
"Mirror, bring us to Twisted Wonderland!" Deuce comanded. The mirror began to faintly glow... then, the two boys (and the cat monster) carried you into the mirror.
You woke up somewhere unfamiliar.
A strange place.
"They're awake!"
"Hopefully that rough landing wasn't what did it."
"Good morning, (Y/N)! How did you sleep?"
Around you, you saw three people (well, two people and a cat). Ace, Deuce, and Grim. But... they looked different.
Ace had a heart painted over his left eye, Deuce had a spade painted over his right eye, and Grim had blue fire emanating from his ears.
"What's... going on...?" You asked.
"We brought you home with us." Ace told you.

"W-wait a minute! Why am I back here?!" You began to panic. "What's going on?! What did you do?!"
"Ace and I found a way into your world... so we decided to go there, find you, and bring you back home with us!" Deuce happily explained. He gently hugged you, and rubbed his face against yours. "And now, you don't have to leave anymore... you can stay here, with us... forever."
"Aren't you happy to be home?" Ace asked. "Your life in your old world seemed downright miserable! Whatever life you live here, it'll be better than your old life."
"I'm glad you're back, minion!" Grim yelled.
This time, you're not going to be able to return home. Not on their watch.
Twisted Wonderland is your home now.
You should just forget about your old life.

Shifting Advice that no one asked for.
I don't know why I'm writing this. No one asked, but I'm doing it anyway because why not? Maybe someone might actually find this helpful. So I'm shooting my shot into this void.
Q: Best shifting method?
A: We all know there isn't one "best" method, because the "best" is subjective yada yada. What your probably trying to ask is "I don't feel like this method is working how do I fix it?" Which here is a way to "fix" you can do to a method you like.
First, find the parts you don't like or get frustrated with. Take a moment when you're not solely focused on shifting and go through the method. Find the parts that make your brain go "yeah, no."
Next, decide what is you don't like about it. Don't wanna count? Wanna visualize something different? Takes too long? Figure out what it is about the method that bothers you.
Change it, look into other methods and add and take away until you have a method that is basically second nature to you.
I personally, listen to rain sounds, and invision that I'm half asleep listening to people in my DR talking. It's just what I was left with after working with the Alice in Wonderland method for so long. It feels completely natural to me and it feels like how my method should be.
Q: What happens when someone tries to wake you in your CR?
A: Now, this question is a little more complicated, but that's mainly because of what your personal beliefs are.
You see, this life we live is crazy weird. I'm not gonna lie it is, so don't stress out this decision, because it's completely possible that both these things are true at the same time.
In the Multiverse theory, you will wake up and respond as normal, because time is already a loose thing when it comes to shifting. So when someone comes to get you, you will already be back. It's a bit headache inducing if you think too long on it.
In the consciousness theory though, is where this gets a little weirder, but in the simplest way I can think of explaining this is, nothing happens in your CR when your not here because you're not here to witness it. It would be like someone hitting pause on a movie. Nothing happens well the movie is paused.
Deciding which theory you like more could help you with shifting.
Q: I haven't shifted yet and I don't know what to do :(
A: I'm not gonna give you that "shifting is so easy" and the "everyone can do it just believe" speech that has been given thousands of times. That's not what you're looking for.
I understand your pain, I do. As someone who has been attempting to shift for four years, I have been beaten black and blue over my time and it sometimes feels like it won't get easier.
But I hold out hope that it will.
All I can really suggest is when it feels like nothing is working. My suggestion is to look at the parts that frustrate you, they make you upset for a reason. Reverse engineer until you find the source of the problem, even if the answer is something that you don't like. I promise that facing that problem head on will make journey go so much faster then mine.
How much faster?
Well you might avoid writing shifting advice at three am to hide from the fact you feel lonely.

Is it ok if you write a thing about HS Sammy getting turned back into a child? (Both mentally and physically) I think that would cause some adorable shenanigans to occur (with the toons help ofc u-u)

Sammy had long been the victim of magic shenanigans. And today was no different. Joey had been doing....something, and now Sammy was a child.
Now, this in itself presented a pretty big problem, as he couldn't very well do his job when he was a little kid. But there was another problem. And that problem was that Sammy had no memory of anything that had happened after the age of ten, the age he seemed to currently be. Meaning he didn't recognize anyone in the studio (aside from Jack) and didn't understand how he'd gotten here or where his parents were.
"....So this is bad," Joey said, glancing over at where Sammy was hiding behind Jack.
"You think?" Bendy growled.
"Do you think you can fix this?" Henry asked, trying to will away the headache he could already feel developing.
"Of course I can!" Joey quickly assured him, although his confidence faded quickly. "I just...don't know how long it'll take to reverse this..."
"I can watch him until he's back to normal," Jack volunteered. "He knows me, after all."
"That would be great, thank you, Jack." Henry gave Jack a weak smile.
"You're welcome." Jack returned Henry's smile before focusing his attention back on the small Sammy. "You wanna see my workstation?"
Sammy hesitated, then nodded, shrinking back further in the way that signaled there were too many people and he was overwhelmed.
"Alright, come on." Jack gently guided Sammy out of Joey's office and through the halls toward the Music Department.
As they traveled, Sammy remained glued to Jack's side, looking very much as though he were trying to hide. Which, honestly, he probably was. Sammy had never done particularly well with being suddenly thrust into new environments. He needed time to mentally prepare himself for the new space and the new people. Jack knew this had to be incredibly overwhelming for the small version of his friend. Which was why he was going to do his best to make this easier for Sammy.
When they got to the top of the stairs that led to the sewers, Sammy abruptly stopped, pulling back.
"What's wrong?" Jack asked.
Sammy shook his head, covering his nose. "It smells," he said. "I'm not going."
"Why don't we go to your office, then?" Jack suggested.
"My...office?" Sammy echoed with a frown.
"It won't smell," Jack said.
Sammy's frown deepened, but he nodded, taking Jack's hand again and following him back up the stairs to the office. Sammy squinted a bit as they approached the office, his gaze zeroing in on the sign above the window.
"Why does it have my name on it?" He asked, tugging on Jack's sleeve.
"Because it belongs to grown-up you," Jack answered, fishing out the key to the office and unlocking it.
Sammy's eyes widened at this. "...Grown up me must be really important..." He said quietly.
"Something like that," Jack laughed, holding the door open and ushering Sammy inside.
Sammy tentatively stepped inside, looking warily around. Jack remained where he was by the door, watching Sammy look around. It was interesting to look at Sammy and see the seeds of behaviors he regularly displayed as his adult self. The way he squinted when he was concentrating particularly hard, the way he folded his arms around himself when he was in a new environment.
He'd forgotten how cute Sammy had been as a child too. Granted, he probably hadn't noticed it when he'd been a child himself, but seeing child Sammy as an adult was really driving home to Jack just how adorable Sammy had been as a kid.
"What's this?"
Jack's attention was drawn back to Sammy as the boy pointed to the sheets of music on the desk. There were a few finished compositions, as well as a half-done song for Alice.
"It's sheet music," he answered, walking over to stand next to his friend.
Sammy let out an adorable huff, folding his arms. "I know that," he said indignantly. "But what are they?"
"I'm not sure what you mean." Jack gave an apologetic smile.
Sammy huffed again. "What are they for? The names are weird."
"They're songs for cartoons," Jack explained. "You wrote them."
Sammy's pouting was abruptly stopped as his eyes went wide. Slowly, he looked up at Jack with an awestruck expression.
"...I wrote them?" He asked quietly, pointing at himself.
Jack couldn't help but laugh. "You sure did. And I'm writing the words to go along with them."
Sammy's face split in a huge grin and he began to flap his hands. "We're making songs together!" He exclaimed, bouncing up and down.
Jack's smile widened. "Yeah, we are!"
"We're making songs together!!" Sammy repeated, beginning to jump around excitedly.
The display warmed Jack's heart. It honestly felt really good to see a little Sammy so ecstatic at the prospect of making music with him. He was happy to know his friend liked working with him.
The moment was interrupted, however, by a gentle knock on the door. Sammy froze, immediately scampering to hide behind Jack's legs.
"It's okay," Jack quietly assured him before addressing whoever was at the door. "Yeah?"
"I hope I'm not intruding." Susie's voice came from the other side of the door.
"Well, I wouldn't say you're intruding..." Jack glanced down at Sammy, who was staring intently at the door and clinging to Jack's pants.
Susie gave a little laugh. "I'm sensing there's a but."
"There is," Jack laughed as well. "Sammy's a bit skittish right now, that's all."
"Ah, right..." There was clear disappointment in Susie's voice.
"Is it okay if she comes in?" Jack asked, gently patting Sammy's head.
Sammy frowned, hunching his shoulders and continuing to stare at the door.
"...Just for a little," he said.
"Thank you." Jack turned back to the door. "He says you can come in for a little."
"Really?!" Susie exclaimed.
Like a startled cat, the loudness of the statement made Sammy withdraw further, prompting Jack to ask Susie to be a bit quieter.
After an apology, Susie tentatively entered. She looked on the verge of squealing upon seeing Sammy's little face peeking out from behind Jack's solid form, but she managed to keep it together.
"Oh, he's adorable..." She whispered.
"Who're you?" Sammy demanded, eyes narrowed.
"This is Susie," Jack said. "She sings some of the songs you and I write."
Susie gave a little wave. "Your songs are very nice."
Sammy continued to stare at Susie, his eyes still narrowed. Slowly, though, he crept out from behind Jack.
"Oh, you're so cute..." Susie said, still making a valiant effort to not squeal or scoop Sammy up.
"'m not cute..." Sammy grumbled, folding his arms. "...So you...sing?"
"I do!" Susie confirmed with a smile. "Would you like to hear?"
Sammy hesitated, thinking about it for a good long minute, before tentatively nodding.
Susie cleared her throat, standing up to her full height. Then, she launched into "Lonely Angel".
As soon as the first words left her lips, Sammy looked utterly enraptured. He stared at Susie with unbridled wonder as she sang. Jack made a mental note to bring this up to Sammy once he was back to normal. He couldn't wait to see how flustered Sammy would be.
"You have a beautiful voice..." Sammy whispered once Susie had finished singing.
"Aaw, thank you!" Susie put a hand to her chest. "You know, I was just about to go record a new song. Do you want to come watch?"
Sammy hesitated again, looking at Jack.
"I'll come with you," Jack assured him.
Satisfied by this response, Sammy turned back to Susie and gave a little nod, reaching out to take her hand.
Susie stifled a squeal, then led Sammy out of the office, with Jack following behind.
Sammy spent the rest of the day glued to Jack and Susie's sides. Despite his initial wariness of her, after hearing her sing he was suctioned to her side like a koala. Something about her made him feel safe, although he couldn't explain why.
Everyone thought it was absolutely adorable, especially Boris and Alice. They had the good sense not to say this while Sammy was around, for fear of making him embarrassed and cutting the koala impression short, but they were certainly thinking it. Wally was also making a mental note to tease Sammy about this later.
Thankfully, by the end of the day, Joey had managed to figure out a way to return Sammy to normal. It did take a bit of convincing to get little Sammy into the spell circle, but once they did it was a fairly simple process of executing the spell.
When the smoke cleared, there was adult Sammy, bright red and looking mortified.
"We will never speak of this again," he whispered.
"No promises~," Jack said with a big grin.
Sammy groaned, covering his face. Why did this always happen to him?

Okay, I got this Idea after seeing some Jevon fanart, but hear me out
What If Chucky splits part of his soul Into Lydia sometime during S2, S3, or the AU and It's a whole new re-do of the Chucky!Nica plot, but It's Chucky!Lydia? And the whole gang has to find a whole new way to get him out of her because It's not as easy as when Nica was possessed?
Oh and there's totally a parallel of THIS scene, but with Chucky!Lydia & Junior, Jake, Coraline, Devon, Lexy, or Jules. (Probably Chucky!Lydia with Jake or Junior to narrow It down though)

Glen, Children of Misfortune, Juries and the Baskervilles
[When I say Glen, I am referring all Glens- past and present: Levi, Oswald, Gil and Leo. hella lot of lore is here that I wanna write about ;-; so I might divide this into different posts let’s see. Also fair warning: I might criticize Oswald’s actions-past and present- a bit, since I love looking at characters from an unbiased pov. Also, maybe some characters’ past actions in order to point to their character development so that too.]

2] Choosing a side
I remember treating Oswald as a victim of circumstances while reading the Past Arc/Jack’s Intention Arc and blaming only Jack and Levi for everything that went down,,, but now that I consider on the whole, I have to confess Oswald was also responsible for a major part in the Tragedy. His sin is… (as the catchphrase of this series goes lol) His sin is his passivity. But before Oswald, I want to talk about his successors, Gil and Leo first.
As the story goes, each one of the Glens have faced a point where they must choose a side.
For Gil, it was between Oz and Oswald, whether he wanted to continue as Oswald’s valet (to return to his past) or as Oz’s valet (to live in the present). In fact, this clash between his two sides of loyalty, one drilled into him (Retrace 38) and the other nurtured in him in a healthy manner, already came to a head in the Sablier Arc (Retrace 40).

In the beginning of the same arc, he tried to kill Alice because she was trying to “kill” his “master” and with great difficulty did he stop himself before he ended up doing something drastic. Break, though, thankfully and perhaps due to the power of his Eye of Misfortune, sees through Gil, spots the overlapping thoughts clouding his judgment and goads him into a fight.
“I am the one who seeks to use Oz Vessalius. I am doing harm to your master. Now then, will you try your hand at killing me as well?”
And… Gil actually almost goes ahead with it! He is so overwhelmed by the thoughts the Jury had fed into his mind that he can’t distinguish between friends and foes; all he could think is he had to “kill his master’s enemies.”, no free will of action in him at all. Break snaps him out of him and…. says something so significant I didn’t even realize at the time:
Is the one you need really Oz Vessalius? (…) Isn’t it time you got over being such a spoiled child?

[The “hand” here is his left hand which signifies Gil’s oath to his old Master, Raven and consequently, his past.]

(His left hand. Oswald uses his left hand to cast Lacie into the Abyss. I just…. *screams*)
Like I explained in Part 1, if Gil was continued to be raised in the Baskerville household, when he comes of age and becomes the next Glen, in spite of feeling massively guilty, he’d end up casting Vincent into the Abyss because that’s the rule, because he won’t think for himself if that’s indeed what he wanted, because he'd still be obedient to the previous Glen and Jury even after becoming the most powerful head of the household. That’s just how the Glens are.
However, this changed in Retrace 78, when Gil goes up against Oswald and the Baskervilles for Oz.
Gil quite literally cuts off his left arm to NOT “hurt what’s precious to him by his own hand"—he cuts off his connection to his past and his old master and refuses to side with him anymore. He stops being an obedient valet and stands up for Oz, as a friend, of his own accord because that’s what he really wants. He even freely calls him Oz, something he’d been struggling all along as he’d been raised to address his master as such.

His entire character development stemmed from Oz’s positive influence on him. From the beginning, Oz didn’t want a valet or a servant, but a friend by his side. He wanted Gil to be his equal. He always asked Gil to call him by his name and not address him as Master.
[And, ofc, a special mention to Break who had been continually warning him against his obsessive loyalty and pushing him to think for himself.
(He advises him here in Retrace 40; yes, but also he's been doing that since long ago, even before Oz resurfaced from the Abyss (Retrace 13.)):
Believe whatever you want. Regardless of what people say, I— Let me give you a piece of advice. A loyalty that holds fast will become a blade and will someday pierce those you hold dear.

And, Gil, the edgy rebellious teenager that he was at the time, doesn't understand Break at all lol]
Well, all of this contributes to Gil switching sides to save Oz from getting executed and not blindly following Glen on, or rather, in spite of regaining all his misplaced memories. He decides to cut off his left hand, erase the binding oath and make another, this time, legal contract with Raven—and this is so important—all of his own volition.
That ends his passivity and lack of free will. (And Break, like a proud dad, “has stopped fretting about him.” LOL)

For Leo, it was this point (Retrace 63):

Yes, chances are that Elliot won’t have believed what Leo said since neither he nor any of the kids at Fianna's house remembers any of the incidents involving Humpty-Dumpty or its contract thanks to its nature of memory deletion/alteration. Still, the fact that Leo didn’t tell him the truth about what had been done to him (Leo feeding him the chain’s blood and unwittingly making him an illegal contractor) or about Isla Yura (Selfishness is a recurring theme in the story; I wanna go into that later but here too—) could be taken as Leo’s “selfishness” to keep his friend alive in spite of him getting fatally injured. Even that aside, it was really his “inaction at the time of crisis” that eventually led Elliot to suffer from an even more painful death.
Yet, he blames the Intention of the Abyss for his actions.

(At this point of the story, Leo is still “an immature brat”; on a side note: remember Break who realized it was his own fault, and not the Intention’s, for forcing her to change the past and bringing a more horrifying fate on the Sinclair family? Yeah, Break is one of the most mature characters in the story and having regretted and learnt from his mistakes, he tries to pass on his experience to the kids so that they won’t repeat his mistakes.)
Before long, Leo does get over being “a spoiled child” and realizes that he had to accept his mistakes and take responsibility before things went from bad to worse. In Retrace 99, he faces the dilemma of choosing a side: stay a bystander and let Oswald go on to his end or stand up and act for what he wants.
And then, for what might be the most selfless reasons of all, Leo decides to not change the past.

Just like Oz-Gil—Leo, who always tried to dig into the world of books because his own real world was unbearable for him, was pulled out of it by Elliot by wanting to be his friend and not his master. Elliot didn’t want an obedient, servile yes-man but a friend who could stand by him yet scold him for his mistakes. “It’s the duty of a valet to correct his master’s actions.”
And so, for Elliot and for the sake of those memories where they met albeit for a short while, those memories being so precious to him that he doesn’t want them to be erased with the alteration of the past, he finally decides to stop being a bystander and confronts Oswald.
[Special shoutout to Break!— because once again it were his last words that helped influence his decision:

…That you’ll never find your future in the past… try as you might to reach back into it!!
Break just keeps tossing around good advice for everyone, even people whom he was not even addressing. Those words were meant for Vince, not Leo; yet Leo too benefits from them agfhsjhahaha]
I know Levi calls his reason “selfish” as well (considering he chooses this for fulfilling a personal desire) but to me, it’s not so. Had he stayed quiet and “passive”, and let Oswald change the past for his split second of thought process—"If I were not Glen, Elliot won’t have to die"—that'd be pretty selfish of him.
And, with that, Leo chooses a side he wants to fight for, no matter how painful his choice is and ends his “passivity”.
.
On the other hand, in Break's and Rufus Barma's words, Oswald never stopped being "a spoiled child" and over and over, keeps "hurting what's precious to him by his own hand". Even after his return to the world in Leo's body, his immediate decision is to kill Lacie to "set things right." Again.
Plus, Oswald did not have such a friend who cared about him unconditionally and wanted to be on equal footing.
Or, well, he did but he cast her into the Abyss and that’s where everything started to go wrong for him....

I’m so interested in your take about the level of obsession that certain fandoms invite based on their quality because you’re so right I don’t need to read hunger games fic I got what I needed from the series
But like also sometimes when something is rlly good too I wanna read fic just so I can be in that world a bit longer.
Like for example I love leverage. The og series is great perfect ending no notes. I loooove leverage fic though because it allows me to follow little rabbit holes that aren’t necessary for the overarching story. I wanna see them deal w their trauma yanno?
But then we got the stranger things stuff where not only do you want to explore those things bc you love the premise you also wanna just fix stuff bc the writers really just haven’t landed it
It’s so interesting to me that there’s a whole kind of in between genre for me (and presumably others) where the content is solid and enjoyable but I feel no real need to expand upon it in fic form
This is my ted talk cheers for listening
Yeah, it really is interesting to think about all the little ways people engage in fandom, especially fic. Like you said, the whole thing where you really like the world so you want to live in it a little longer? That's a lovely sentiment, I've thought and TRIED, but I usually read fics in that fandom for a day before getting bored.
There's the opposite extreme, where you don't necessarily get obsessed with it, but out of spite, you write something because jesus, how did the writers fumble that so spectacularly? (I did this with Alice in Borderland lmao).
And then the area where I usually live: the story has extremely compelling elements, usually for me it's gotta be both characters and the world, but there's enough plot holes and dropped plotlines that you can fuck around with forever, and enough left unfinished that you can just keep going. (this is Stranger Things to me).

I do agree with anon that aemond seems to have a bad relationship with sex which is because 13 is too young to have your first sexual experience (Aegon’s fault) and his mother and father relationship (Because if your idea about intimacy and relationships is Viserys and Alicent + your older brother creepy ass of course your perception of the whole thing would be fucked up) and I do like to believe that his first and last experience was at the brothel when he was 13.
Here comes Daemon’s role , he’ll notice how aemond is repulsed by intimacy and sex and he will just go “Okay time to fix this boy.” so he starts to slowly change that and make aemond actually enjoy physical touch and all slowly till aemond consents to having sex with him on his 18th birthday and daemon just makes love to him all night because he deserves to be handled with care this beautiful boy deserves softness and touches that are meant to comfort rather than hurt (I’m too soft for them being soft and fluffy helppp)

secondly, the way I am so so soft for touch-starved Aemond. seriously, it's one of my favourite things in the entire world, and the idea of Daemon being gentle with him and giving him all the affection he's sought for so many years is just 😭
you're spot on with Aemond having a really complicated, negative experience with sex and really, extending past that, intimacy in all forms. he didn't see any love in his parent's marriage, though he did see his mother's unyielding devotion to her husband and king. and more than that, neither he nor his siblings received much care from Viserys. even when Aemond lost his eye (not only lost, but had it taken from one of Rhaenyra's sons and I could go on a whole psychoanalysis of this but I'll save that for another post), Viserys showed little concern. he was more upset by the slanders than the violence. could you imagine losing an eye and having no one but your mother defend you? not even your own father? what that must have done to his self worth is nothing short of heartbreaking
then, on top of that, he has an older brother whose behavior is utterly despicable, who puts him in a situation he has no desire to be in and he's forced to experience something before he's ready. you end up with someone who's probably severely repressed because it's the only safety he knows, who views sex as something deeply disquieting at the very least, and who struggles with intimacy in its most base form not only due to his experiences, but also due to people's reactions to his scar.
I feel like when he's grown, he has no idea how stunning he is. how the scar adds to his beauty, how the sapphire is positively mesmerizing. he's used to people viewing him as monstrous, as a freak. he's used to people flinching away from him. he wouldn't know what to do with a soft touch. he wouldn't know what to do when Daemon removes his eye patch and peppers kisses along his scar, telling him how beautiful he is in low murmurs.
Aemond is so touch-starved that the slightest brush of Daemon's fingers is like a kiss from the gods. so exquisite it's almost painful. his body is rigid and unyielding, untrusting of this kindness. it isn't until he presses his lips to the sapphire that Aemond starts to quiver. his body succumbs, the years of repression melting like flesh from bone under the heat of his dragon. his dragon. because in this moment, it's clear as the summer skies. Daemon is his, and he is Daemon's.
a tear falls to his cheek. Daemon wipes it away with his thumb, perhaps before kissing the spot where it fell. his hands are on his waist, sliding to the small of his back as he slowly moves closer, pressing his forehead against his nephew's. he feels so fragile. but Daemon's treating him with such care. such love.
every touch is a gift. every kiss, a mercy, the likes of which he was not granted in his childhood. they trace each other's scars as they explore each other's bodies. this night, they are not warriors. they are artists. poets. immortalizing each other in the softest ways, known and unknown until hurt is forgotten and love encompasses all.
okay I need to add fluffy daemond to my list of fics to write at some point. this hit me in the feels I'm so soft for them😭annnnd now I can't stop thinking about how Daemon would affectionately call him 'taoba' in the sweetest murmurs okay I have to stop before I start sobbing pls keep sending your thoughts tho I love this

My Thoughts on the Story/Lore of “Ashes of Memory: Part 1”
(I might make this into a video if I have time btw)
Hey guys, IdentiTheoret here! :)
I’m not really sure what else I need to say here before I just jump right into my thoughts on Ashes of Memory. I think this Tumblr thing will actually work super well with what I’m aiming for here, but I’m still kinda new to it, so if you guys have any tips for me there I’d love to hear them. And my DM’s are also completely open, so you guys can ask me directly about literally anything you like or need help figuring out, lore related or whatever else you wanna talk about or say to me.
Anyways I guess I’ll just get right on into my thoughts now.
First of all, I had like no idea they were going this hog wild with changing up everything in terms of how the system works. I wasn’t keeping up a whole lot with the update prior outside of the one major teaser, so when I hopped on after maintenance and saw everything they changed I was kinda stunned.
I won’t be going with any particular order of events, rather I’ll try to go through each particular topic with all the details in mind from the beginning to end of Chapter 1.
Alice DeRoss (Reporter)

When I first saw her in the teaser I was like “Eh, not sure how to feel about her, it’s a little jarring seeing her like this.” And I didn’t even look back over it again to analyze because of the stuff I mentioned in my update video that was draining my energy. Although even then, I thought the idea of following adult Alice was absolutely dope.
But then I played the new story and got an actual good look and feel for this version of Alice and—OH MY GOD SHE IS SO FREAKING PRETTY LIKE AAAAAAH I CAN’T 😳🫠

Seriously they did such a good job with these new designs. And they kinda had to because they were gonna have far more normal designs outside of just Orpheus. I’m not going to go into any detail about my opinions there though, I’ll save that for a separate post soon after this one. I’m just looking at the story and lore right now.
So when it comes to everything leading up to her visiting the manor, they don’t really show off anything too odd. After her separation from Orpheus when they were kids, Alice suffered great social trauma/isolation, which we knew a bit about already with certain letters. But what we didn’t get to see was what happened after she left the orphanage. I was assuming maybe her trauma was going to mess her up in the long term, and if it didn’t I assumed she was going to lose her memories entirely or something because it seemed like things were just that intense during her time in the orphanage. But no, she has a fairly decent memory of her past by the looks of it. However, just like Orpheus in Time of Reunion, we are told she has little memory of the actual events of the manor tragedy, and in general some of her memories are a bit hazy. Not to mention the fact that she doesn’t find anything to be odd about Orpheus when she meets him in the manor.
Yeah, she hadn’t seen him since they were super young, but as we’ve seen before, the nickname of “Orpheus,” was a major detail of the two’s past friendship, because it represented their bonding experiences of making up stories and playing characters. The Orpheus nickname catching on and eventually being the name young Alice used for him exclusively was meant to show how close they were. But by the looks of it, she doesn’t remember the nickname at all.
And sure, it doesn’t mean she should immediately be like “ 😱 Oh mah gah that’s the same name it must be him ☝️🤓 .” However, this detail doesn’t even strike her as odd in any way. This could just be nothing, and she just decided to pay no mind to it, but when it comes to Identity V writing, these things are usually pointed out afterwards at the very least with a little “Huh, [Insert Minor Detail] is pretty odd” sorta thing. It happens a lot.
Outside of that, there’s not a whole lot she’s gotten involved in yet. I mean, it is only Chapter 1, so it makes sense. BUT, I do still have one thing to mention about her.
After you complete Chapter 1, you’re given the S-Tier Costume “Moment of Leisure.” And well, I mean, just look at it.

It’s possible that both the adult and child characters we always see together are probably BOTH meant to be Alice. There was really no reason for them to include this costume otherwise. Although, we do see in both the cinematics and in summaries by Orpheus that the older woman was a mother to the girl, and that she died a “horrific death.” Of course, the mother thing would make sense to conclude from Orpheus’s perspective so we can pretty much ignore that, but what about the death and it’s importance to the “Little Girl” after that? How would that fit into any of this?
Well, I have somewhat of an idea to propose for that, and for quick context I need to bring up two simple details: First, the character lineup was likely intentionally different from what we were expecting with Melly/Norton to draw attention to how the timeline’s gonna work out, since we know the Melly/Norton/Orpheus game was the last one Orpheus participated in before the amnesia and all that. And second, most of Alice’s personality and character in general is centered around her persistence and vigilance, literally stating word by word that in the face of her past traumas and mysteries, she needed to “Face it, and it’ll all be over.” This wording about it being “over” also specifically draws attention to the idea of moving on after facing the issue instead of just facing it persistently and learning to live with it or something like that.
So, with that all in mind, this is my early theory for how I think this is all gonna go. Either:
Alice will find the answers she needs to understand the missing bits of her past so she can come to terms with it, and she moves on while Orpheus stays in his ways. And maybe after Alice finds out who Orpheus really is, and she realizes he is actively choosing not to face his own traumas and is beyond persuasion, she escapes the manor and leaves him behind because she simply has to move on. The depictions, both written and seen, of her “horrible death” would be based in Orpheus’s (subjective, rather than objective) view of her facing her issues head on and suffering through the worst of it before she finally is able to overcome her sorrow. To her, she would be getting through the worst of it to finally rid herself of the prolonged pain she’s felt for so long. But to Orpheus, that short phase of pain needed to overcome his trauma seemed far too horrible of a thing to be worth suffering through. Thematically speaking, this would definitely make sense (and because the depictions of the “mother” and girl are clearly not literal or direct about their meaning at face value). All the depictions of young Alice trying to guide Orpheus are things he put into his own head from a deep regret for not listening to her and a desire to have her take the lead for him once more because he doesn’t feel like he can rely on himself to change. But these feelings are still hidden under his repetitive denial, and that’s why it’s something he doesn’t know he’s aware of yet.
Alice dies during the game, either because she wants to try and save Orpheus from himself and fails, and/or because Orpheus starts to believe he can do it but hesitates and gets her killed in the process. This would make sense because most of the themes in Orpheus’s story center around his inability to stay firm in what he needs to do with his trauma, and to not look back with doubt based on what he’s done before. And this would also tie perfectly to the Orpheus myth of him turning to Eurydice with doubt and dooming her to the Underworld, leading him to a life of sorrow and regret in the land of the living. Since this is, well, Identity V, I am pretty certain that this aspect of the myth is intentionally tied into Orpheus’s theme of traumatic repetition and him constantly choosing not to look forwards. This persists in most of the elements of his story, especially with the major details such as the “Don’t Look Back” line that comes up a whole lot when you think about it. So assuming that to be the case, and also assuming that Alice dies, we can conclude that she becomes a spirit in the form of her past younger self as she embodies that wholly innocent part of her life, and maybe just to make herself easier to recognize to Orpheus I guess…? The reason why she’d stay in the form of a child is harder to explain here than it is in the other point. It’d make sense why the child version would be there when accompanied by the older version because it was so long after Orpheus saw Alice that he separates his view of her into his memories of what he thought she was like and what she is now in front of him. That also explains why he tries to see her in the exact same dress as the younger version of her, because at the core the two versions are still the same person.
Those are just my initial thoughts at the moment. I may build onto these conclusions more later on after giving it more thought or when we see more of the next chapter. I guess I’ll leave my thoughts there for now though and move on.
“Orpheus” DeRoss (Novelist)

Well, there’s not much to say for him really. Same’s gonna go for the other two as well for the most part because of how early we are into this, but I do want to point out the way he interacts with everyone. It sometimes may give off a vibe like he knows way more than he lets on, but I don’t think that’s the case. I think the depiction here is still accurate/still will be accurate going forward with the explanation given in Time of Reunion about him having his memory wiped over and over. I don’t think he is actually aware of anything behind the manor in this state. The way he pushes certain details and questions towards others, like the point about betrayal directed at Melly about her insects, and the other point about Mary’s French heritage with Fredrick, seem to just be derived from his intrigue for drama stemming from his interest in writing. He likes a good mystery and finding little things out. We even see him do this with Alice herself in the cutscene after Chapter 1, where he asks her to play the piano for him in exchange for some information on his new book. Besides that, not much needs to be said here.
Fredrick Kreiburg (Composer)

Okay, imma just be real here, I am COMPLETELY lost when it comes to this guy. I was really confused when it was revealed that he was going to be one of the four main characters of this thing, because the guys literally just came out not that long before and we didn’t even get like any buildup for him in the lore before his release. And when it comes to his connections to the racecourse with Mary, like yeah I’m completely clueless. But that actually has nothing to do with the Mary thing though, because I was well aware from the start that there was the theory that Mary wasn’t the actual Mary Antoinette but rather a noblewoman of some sort (based on bday letters if you’re confused). And I knew it was probably true, and was most likely gonna be important later on, but I still was just like “Nah I don’t care right now I’ll just wait on that one.” And now it’s already introduced but I’m still confused about like, why?
I will say one thing though, all the details surrounding that weird Mary subplot, such as the “was it a suicide or a murder?” mystery that’s almost treated like a legend, and the way the death is presented generally, and how the backlash against the racecourse afterwards is completely directed towards one man in particular, and how everyone just kinda goes like “🤷‍♀️🤷‍♂️ Uh idek why she did that 🤷🤷‍♂️,” it all gives off MAJOR Atropos Ropes vibes and it’s definitely intentional. Not sure how to feel about that just yet, but that’s mostly because of my big lack of understanding about anything Mary/Kreiburg related.
Not only that, but look at the way they describe the legend of the past owners of the manor and the mysterious death of the male owner’s female lover before the closure of the course and selling of their manor before some seemingly random dude who is clearly a descendant (Fredrick) suddenly shows up upon invitation from the new owners, and he is is heavily associated with a certain art expression and deals with social pressures.
Like, dude. That’s literally the plot of Lone Moon from T&I. The husband is the Knight, Mary is the princess, and Fredrick is Narcissus.
(+ We have already gotten thematic connections between Lone Moon and Atropos Ropes in terms of the themes of repetition and supposed fate, but we also have literal connections through the Amethyst Duchess, linking Narcissus to Bella (aka, you know, Mary)).
And also, I think the way they use the racecourse specifically of all things leads me to believe that there must be a connection to COA 4. And no, it has nothing to do with the horse imagery in that story, because that was directly linked to Cavalier and his Don Quixote inspirations (but if you wanna get refreshed on that go watch my COA Lore vid). The reason why they did horses here and not cars is simply because, well, rich people shit.
The thing that really makes me certain about this, outside of the obvious specificity, is once again that reoccurring theme of repetition and mistakes from those who came before. It’s present in Atropos Ropes, it’s present in Lone Moon, and it’s definitely present in COA 4, because that story is entirely based around that concept. And all of these have strong connections to either the manor’s history or the DeRoss family, which I highly doubt is a coincidence based on the theories about the DeRosses I’ve been making for the past while.
Melly Plinius (Entomologist)

Not much to say about her either. She’s got that same weird personality that we’d expect from her, and talks about the betrayal thing in a very weird way with connecting it to bugs. But the most important thing I can really point out so far about her is how she has little to no importance of any kind to the events going on regarding the manor and the Kreiburg racetrack. I think this has something to do with what the devs want us to notice about how this timeline works, since Norton hasn’t appeared yet. So I’m guessing Fredrick either dies or just leaves and is replaced by Norton sometime in the story. Knowing how weird some of the other diary stories were written, I’m sure Fredrick just gets like a little bit deep into how he may be involved with the racetrack and the Baron as a result of that, gets uncomfortable and goes like “Nah no thanks” and just kinda bails. I’m not even kidding, I could see that happening tbh.

gonna give you a little bit of all the wips i have lol…
•for the jancy prequel to iawwyh, i’m excited to write the 1999 thanksgiving scene in nancy’s pov….also her reconnecting with jonathan in 1990.
•for will’s pov of iawwyh i wanted to write his pov during jancy’s wedding, particularly when he’s staring at mike during careless whisper while dancing with his boyfriend 😏 (there’s a lot i wanna do with his side of the story honestly…hopefully someday 🥲)
•for my 10 things i hate about you byler/henderhop AU i haven’t entirely adapted the plot to my liking yet, but one things for certain; mike is gonna serenade will to try and win his affection and even though i severely dislike writing singing in fic (war flashbacks of ch 16 karaoke 😩) it’s one of my fav scenes in the movie and it would be soooo good 😆
•for mike’s novel from iawwyh (aka my attempt at cleradin)—just looking forward to adapting the mirror world in a dark alice in wonderland way (there’s a dnd campaign i’m gonna take inspiration from lol) and getting to do a live chess game (if it works…we shall see, i’m such a slow writer so it may ever happen)
•really want to do another movie adaptation for byler (i think i told you about this) where it’s hurt/no comfort and mostly i just want to write the ending cause it HURTS lol

Time slows sometimes in Gotham. Todays one of those days. You frequently think it's always one of those days. You wish you could up and leave the city. You made that promise to yourself- a long time ago, when your mom and dad got turned all upside down. You wouldn't let this city kill you.
Obviously, though, you often wonder if they'd ever even let you leave. Dad- maybe. You like to think he'd understand. But you think he might kill himself without you, too.
It's your mom that's the issue, you find. She intends to cling onto you for the rest of your lives. You remember a conversation you had with Selina not too long ago.
"When Bab's buries her claws in something, she never lets go. How do you think she got the club from Penguin?" You often wonder if she has her claws buried in you. You often wonder how deep they really go.
You can hear the faint clapping in the back of the crowd. You stare at the stage, intently, seeing Jervis and your mom parade around. They look like they are having the time of their lives, Jervis hypnotizing her to dance with him. You watch Tabitha look on, in an odd mix of disdain and fascination.
Letting them finish their act, you walk along the bar floor. You pretend to ignore the gaze held on you, both by Mr. Tetch and your mom.
You find Butch, sitting alone, nursing one-too-many shot glasses.
"Hey kid." He says, huffing a sigh, when he notices you sit down next to him. You both share an exasperated look, looking between Barbara and Jervis and Tabitha.
"What's up with you?" You ask, and he grumbles.
"Headache."
"And you think drinking more is gonna help?"
He rolls his eyes, effectively fed up. You lightly pat his shoulder in sympathy.
You didn't mind Butch. The first time you'd met him was when he tried to kill you, and hold you and your mom captive for Falcone. Oh, how the times have changed.
"You and Tabitha doing okay?" You ask. You know he's dying to shout about it to someone, if not on the surface, then deep down. But his resolve is as strong as ever. He shakes his head, and swallows air.
"We're fine." You know it's a lie. You know he thinks your mom is a bitch. It used to bother you, but now it just makes you shrug. "You...uh...wanna put in a good word for me? With Tabs?" He asks, hopeful.
You look at him, eyes softening. "Yeah. I can." You nod, and he nods back. Ah, mutual discontentment. You remember why you like him.
The sound of clapping grows louder, and takes the two of you out of your somewhat comfortable silence. Butch raises a glass to you, abet sarcastically, and downs it.
You watch as Jervis and Barbara flood down the stage, bowing. Your mother looks absolutely enamored with the praise. Jervis does as well. They murmur thank you's as they push past the crowd. You offer Butch a parting glance, before moving toward the pair.
"Not half bad." Tabitha remarks, coming up from behind you. It almost startles you, and you catch the way Jervis's eyes glimmer at your jump.
"Please. That was the best dancing you've ever seen in your life." Your mother rolls her eyes. The comment surprisingly brings a smile to your face. It's something the old her would've said too.
"Thank you for the dance, Ms. Kean." Jervis offers a gentlemanly grin, and Barbara nods. You watch her and Tabitha fall into a conversation, talking and laughing through playful insults. When the band starts, Tabitha brings Barbara to the floor to dance with her instead. It's...surprisingly sweet.
Jervis must take note of your longing gaze. He speaks, gently.
"Why don't you dance with them?" He urges- and he reminds you of a teacher, trying to get you to play with the other kids. It almost makes you giggle.
"I'm not a good dancer." You click your tongue. He makes a noise of understanding.
"How unfortunate," He remarks. "You must allow me a dance, one day. I would be delighted to teach you."
Between your mother being a bit like her old self, and your conversation with Butch, you somehow feel elated at his words.
"I'd like that." You whisper, and out of the corner of your eye, you watch his smile falter, as if he wasn't expecting your immediate agreeance. The thought strangely makes you even happier. You're in high spirits tonight.
Said spirits seem to fall quite quickly though, when you notice your father marching into the club. The smile on your face, as well as Jervis's, seem to slowly evaporate at the sight. Jervis hurries towards him, and you weave your way behind, following him like a child.
"Did you find her?" Jervis asks, excitable. But you know the look on your fathers face. Somethings wrong.
"I found her. Lost her. She shot a man and set fire to his body. Said she had an infection," Jim growls out. You attempt to digest the information, whilst Jervis looks far less bothered than he should look. "Also, said she doesn't want anything to do with you."
Oh, I look at Jervis. He looks bothered at that.
"You want to tell me what the hell is going on?" Your dad looks pissed. You want to bang your head against a wall. Nothing in Gotham is ever easy, is it?
"It's complicated-" Jervis begins, before your dad steps in to grab him by his suit jacket. Your eyes widen at the move. When he goes to make a threat, you push him off. Both Jervis and your dad look at you bewildered.
"Hands off, dad. This is mom's club. Don't make a scene. Not with him." You nod to Jervis, and you find his mouth is slightly agape, eyes focused solely on you.
Your dad backs away a bit, looking at the ground, and clenching his jaw.
"Let's talk somewhere private, shall we? Allow me to explain the situation?" Jervis manages to speak with civility. They stare at each other for a moment, tense, before heading out without a word. Before your dad follows him out, he shoots you a look of chagrin.
You stand alone in the club, unaware where your mother and Tabitha have disappeared off too. You look back to find Butch missing from his seat at the bar.
Time slows sometimes in Gotham. Todays one of those days.
