Let’s start with the fluffffff 😊

I feel like most of the reason we all love Luca (aside from the fact that Will Poulter plays him) is that he’s so gentle (but have you guys heard the term Stern Brunch Daddy?)

Let’s say you’re not very good at baking, doesn’t matter because he’s fully committed to teaching you. He will literally start with something as basic as baking a cookie from scratch and later making more complex desserts. It doesn’t even matter how long it takes because he just enjoys being around you :’)

Speaking of spending time together, Luca’s love language is defffff quality time.

When he spoke about learning from the chef who was much better than him (Carmy??) it made me think about how much he would enjoy just being around the person he loves. Whether you’re baking, watching a movie, or even napping together, the pair of you are like magnets.

He shares his love of food with you every chance he gets (he wants to combine two of his greatest loves 😭)

Going out to dinner with a chef is always a unique experience, but no matter what he’s letting you choose the restaurant (if he has to choose he'll just wind up cooking something for you at home since he can make it better anyways)

Thinking about how he’d definitely bake a birthday cake for you, spending hours on it because it needs to be perfect 😪 (he could bake a cake in his sleep but this isn’t just ANY cake)

He asks you to sample everything whenever he's coming up with a new menu item, he trusts your judgement and knows you'll be honest with him

When he’s working late, he tells you not to wait up for him (much to your displeasure) but every morning, you wake up to a new dessert in the fridge 🥺

He’s been doing it since you moved in together just because he knows it makes you smile (he’ll even leave little notes behind, sometimes silly, sometimes super sappy) you eat it up regardless

Now for the smutty stuff 😈

In the beginning of your relationship, Luca is SUUUPER shy. Like to the point that you have to literally spell it out that you want him to make a move. 

Like Carmy, he doesn’t really have much time for socializing, so he might miss the cues that you throw at him. 

The first time Luca spends the night at your apartment, he’s sure he’s going to pass out on like three different occasions 

1. When you open the door, you’re wearing a satin robe that leaves very little to the imagination (He’s hard before he even sits down)

2. You’re baking together in the kitchen, taking every opportunity to bend over and "grab a mixing bowl", flashing your lacy thong in the process. 

3. When you move into your bedroom because you’re getting “tired”, you ask him to unhook your bra for you, making a show of sliding the robe down your shoulders. And whoops! It just so happens to fall to the floor. 🤗

By that point, you’re done with the subliminals, pushing your ass back, feeling him straining against his jeans. For a moment, he doesn’t know what to do with his hands (it’d be adorable if you weren’t painfully horny rn)

“Luca, you can touch my boobs if you want to, I swear I won’t mind,” you playfully tease him, shifting into a sigh when his hands immediately connect with your sensitive nipples.

I so agree with everything you said. The difference of reactions when you didn't ship their previous relationship vs when you don't ship B/T is very telling (same with the fact that when some people talked about a cheating storyline, the reactions were always "it would be bad for Buck to do this to Tommy" but apparently it would have been okay if Eddie did this to a woman?? okay lmao)

What I don't understand is how people say that it's Buck's most developed LI/relationship. Like? We don't know that much about him. People have created (themselves and via the actor's cameos) lots of headcanons but that doesn't mean that they are canon.

To me, he really still feels like a love interest device for now. Like with the scene of the kiss in the last episode, they could have include some mentions of another date, whether past or a future one, but they didn't. The kiss was just there to be able to have Buck come out to the rest of the family, but it didn't bring anything more about B/T (we don't know if they saw each other since the coffee date/if it was their second kiss or if there was already more).

Literally. Like, look, I will say one thing, if buddie had hooked up at that bachelor party only one person would be cheating and that's Eddie. Buck and Tommy did not have a we're exclusive talk. They actually had a we can figure things out as we go talk. Personally, I don't think that counts as an we are together conversation, but that's my opinion. But either way no one seemed to care about the Eddie side of it. Eddie who is literally in a relationship serious enough he asked her to move in with him the episode before. But sure, that doesn't count because they hate Edy and forget Marisol exists (I do too, but I spent the whole time saying we shouldn't make the bisexual dude help his best friend cheat because I did not forget Eddie would be cheating and that would be bad no matter what). And to say T is the most developed love interest is a straight up lie. Taylor had a whole season as Buck's friend before they got together. She had a personality, flaws, qualities, she even got her very own tragic background episode. Say what you want about anything, and yes they sucked as a couple, but bucktaylor was developed. On screen. To a point where if the show actually wanted to, which they clearly didn't because they used the s4 Taylor development to stir her away from Buck instead of closer, they could've made bucktaylor work, they just had to make her as intense about Buck as she is with the job, and they could've been a very interesting golden retriever boyfriend/black cat girlfriend dynamic (good god I can't believe this fandom is making me defend fucking bucktaylor). Buck and T had one scene alone before they were kissing. Tommy has no established personality. Pretty much everything about him besides the begins episodes part of him (that dont paint him in the best light) we learned second hand. Through interviews. It's not even things that are being said to the audience in the show. I'm pretty sure the only things we learned from the show are the way he's a pilot, he was in the army, he likes wrestling, cars, and basketball. I could be wrong, fandom annoyed me so much I blackout every time I see him at this point. But he's not developed? He's just a guy? Don't get me wrong, he could be developed. There is space for it. But right now, he is there to serve as a device for Buck to find his bisexuality and that's it. They kissed twice. They went on half a date T left in the middle of. They went out for coffee and decided to figure things out as they went. He was at the hospital after the wedding to work as a way for Buck to come out without making him go around telling everyone. He exists around Buck. And that's it. Personally I don't see the endgame material people keep seeing. I don't see the development either. And anyone can headcanon anything, really go off, have fun with your ship, but people seriously need to stop acting like what Lou is saying in cameos counts as canon. Being in the fandom right now is exhausting because people just decided things about T and BT that are not backed by canon and they get real aggressive if you don't agree. summary: being the hopeless romantic that you are, you've been dreaming about your special other your whole life. you're talking to your best friend pierre about the dream guy. what if you already knew him?

author's note: not proofread, so for sure many errors lmao. hope its still understandable (? also, im sorry for the delay! will try to have day 20 ready soon but its one prompt i really like so i dont want it to be short :( ill see what i can do! thanks for sticking with me through almost 20 days already!!

since being childhood friends, charles, pierre and you were inseparable. going to school together, joining them on their karting days, them joining you in your school plays. you were always there for eachother, without doubt. so when things started to get complicated at your house and you decided to move, they were 100% in. and that's how you ended now, two years after living with them, in the couch while talking to the frenchman.

"don't you wonder sometimes?" you had started the conversation, voice dry after hours without saying a word. it went like that sometimes, all too busy with their stuff: sometimes, even though you lived with two other people, thanks to their jobs, it seemed like you lived on your own. pierre straightened himself a little on his seat and turned his body towards you, so he could look into your eyes as he said "about?".

immediately regretting your decision to bring this topic to the table, you tried to back off. "well of course you don't, you already have a girlfriend" jokingly, you said. that only seemed to interest the boy in front of you more, being one that didnt like to leave things unresolved. "what are you talking about?". after knowing you for so long, they already knew you were a hopeless romantic at heart, but still, it made you nervous to talk about it out loud, being aware that it could seem ridiculous to others. "promise you won't laugh about it".

"when did I laugh to you?" he said, tilting his eyebrowns like you were telling him something unbeliavable. but you two, having the brother-sister relationship that you had, knew that he was blantantly lying as he always made fun of you, as you made fun of him too. seeing your glare, he laughed before saying. "fine, I won't, i promise". still, you took a bit of time before actually telling him what had been on your mind all day. "I don't know, I started to think about how everyone has met their significant other but I can't seem to find them".

"what if you did already? you know plenty of people".

you fully laughed at him, with no means to offend the frenchman. it truly seemed hilarious to you that he would believe that. "I think I would have realised if a certain person with all the qualities that I look for passed in front of me, pierre. I'm not dumb".

"you sure?"

and if look could kill, you would've been charged for murder. "you're being awfully mean to me today, pierre".

"it's cause you're so blind sometimes, like you purposely don't want to see". he looked pissed off now, and the change between his playful tone and this much colder one threw you off. "see what?" you asked.

it was a common discusion betweet you two, ever since you realized that you didn't love both boys the same. and although yeah, you cheered for their wins and stood through their hard times the same, the smile that adorned your face was different when you were greeted at the other side by the grin of a certain monegasque, who you also lived with. but for you, he was completely off limits. and you were okay with that, with being alone on the sidelines cheering for him, not expecting anything else from him. "oh shut up. you know we're just friends".

"if telling yourself that lets you sleep at night, go ahead. but you have to know that its okay to fall in love. if it goes wrong, i'm sure we can figure it out: you won't lose us. but what if it goes right and you're wasting your time? won't you like to know?".

"know what?".

the voice of a certain someone startled you. it wasn't like you didn't know he was in the house, but after a few hours asleep you had forgotten about him at all, otherwise you wouldn't be talking about this topic in the middle of the house. "know why she likes to talk about deep topics when we should be asleep" he quickly managed to answer, and even though it wasn't a lie, it felt wrong to lie to charles like that. "but why don't you two continue with the chat, eh?, i'm sure charles as more answers than i,he's smarter after all". the monegasque laughed at that and punched his arm in his way out, while he entered the room and started to get comfortable in the same couch that you were sat in.

"i love talking about deep topics, why don't you ever talk to me about it?" he sounded genuinely hurt, like the fact that you preferred to talk about certain stuff with pierre over him really bothered the ferrari driver. "thought you were asleep, charles". and it wasn't a lie.

"don't you trust me?"

"don't be silly, cha. I didn't want to bother you, that's all"

"you could never bother me".

after a few moments in silence, where he directed his eyes towards the ceiling instead of looking at you, he said, softly this time, like he truly didn't want to wake pierre up with his tone. "pierre's right. we need to talk. i want your opinion about something". at that, you clearly became more interested in whatever charles had to say. it had been a while since you two really talked, since he was always away, and when he wasn't, you were the one with the busy schedule. "it's really really really complicated, but i think i like a girl, and i don't know how to talk to her about it".

ah, that's it. that's your worse nightmare coming true, once again.

obviously, being the pretty boy that charles was, always so well manered and the perfect boyfriend that a mother could ask for his child, it wasn't the first time that he had a partner. but as the time went on, you knew he was getting more serious about the whole dating thing, and it scared you to think about him settling in for someone lese. someone that wasn't you. so, after all the years that passed, it still hurt quite a bit to hear him talk about other people in the same way you wished to be talked about.

after a few minutes where you didn't say anything, too stunned to actually answer him, you started to get self concious. obviously, he for sure saw how your face dropped when he told you that. would he realize that you had feelings for him all this time? would he feel betrayed? after all, he thought that you were only his friend, and thats why he was telling you this in the first place.

"you don't get it, do you?"

you furrowed your browns, now confused at what he was implying with that last sentence. "what do i have to get?".

he laughed about it and took your hands into his, to gently brush your fingers over your palm. "i'm talking about you, silly".

"what do you mean? why?".

his deep greenish blue eyes looked straight at yours, and it was impossible to pull away from his gaze. he softly started to answer your question. at least the one you had told him about, since your brain was already a mess with all the questions you had for him. since when? how didn't you see it before? did pierre knew about this? was that why he always talked to you about it?

"cause i've been in love with you for my whole life, more or less. i was just too scared to ruin things between us, but pierre talked me into it. said our friendship is bigger than anything that life could throw at us. and im confident we can work things out, you know? we have known eachother for so long. i know you like the palm of my hand. and you know me the same. please, don't tell me you didn't think about it, at least once, y/n".

you smiled, knowing about the endless times you had fallen asleep to the thought of you two together. wondering exactly this, if you could ever work out. how, each time, pierre and you talked about what you were looking for, you were, knowing or not, describing the boy that was in front of you, looking lovingly into your eyes. "i think about it all the time, cha".

"and why didn't you say anything before?" he reached for your face, gently caressing it with his right hand. "cause we're both dumb, i guess. but i think it's for the better, no? we've grown so much. we know how to make this work"..

"i'm gonna make damn sure, love".

What was the point of Chapter 419 with AFO giving Tomura decay and being involved in his life since he was born, besides generating AFO is behind everything and Kotaro gay affair memes?

I still believe Hori could have pulled this off if he hadn't veered completely off course after 419 because a LOT of Tenko's (and AFO's) arc revolves around the concepts of "identity" and fantasy vs reality (Like, just scratching the surface: AFO attempting to escape from his reality through fantasy, Tenko angrily attempting to pull away the curtain of fantasy and expose the cruel reality of their world. AFO using "reality" as his source of power by claiming its victims for himself, Tenko using "fantasy" as his power by offering those same victims a dream and the promise of an "escape" from their painful reality. "Shigaraki Tomura" as the fictional construct that both AFO and Tenko are attempting to insert themselves into, for both different and similar reasons-- Tenko because he decides to embrace the fact that he killed his family and uses it as evidence that he was "born evil" and "wanted them to die" as a way of explaining his existence. AFO because he wants to escape from the reality that he murdered his brother, while also escaping from the reality of his origin as a helpless infant who no one would look at no matter how much he cried. Blah blah blah etc etc when I say u have to read AFO and Tenko's arcs as a set instead of getting angry at AFO for "inserting himself into Tenko's story," I really do mean it lmao).

Like, MVA aside, Chapter 115 in particular set the tone for Act 2 and HEAVILY foreshadowed what Tenko's arc would end up being about:

(lmao ya'll there is so much evidence in Act 2 that points to the idea that Hori really did want to write a deconstruction of your typical hero story. like, the framing of this panel with Jin angrily turning the TV off when they start talking about "focusing on the positives"????😭I get so sad when I think about the mha we coulda had)

(Side note: Jin was just so so so good as both a character and as a device meant to introduce the reader to MHA's concepts of identity + how a "hero/villain" identities are frequently used as crutches to stop a person from breaking apart under the weight of their trauma

..... which of course makes the fact that Hori rendered his death pointless in the end all the more upsetting :/)

((As an aside: 115 is another shining example of how Hori is definitely a competent writer, bc it manages to set up pretty much the entirety of Act 2 + its themes up in just 15-17 pages-- which is all the more reason why the extremely poor quality of MHA's conclusion is so hard to swallow. I definitely don't believe in blaming the editors/publishers alone for how things turned out, but all the same, I do think there was some executive meddling from behind the scenes bc of how rushed and disjointed the epilogue ended up being. It's not the quality we're used to, not by a long shot, and you can tell as much by reading pretty much any chapter before 423.)) /tangent over

ANYWAY. To me, it ways always pretty obvious that AFO was more or less grooming Tenko to be his perfect ~Demon Lord~ OC-- the idea of treating a real person like a fictional character is something I find pretty terrifying + it's something that further emphasizes MHA's metafiction elements, with Tenko being trapped in a role that was written for someone else. I feel that there was adequate build up to AFO being "the author" behind Shigaraki Tomura, specifically-- and it all seemed to be leading up to a point where Tenko would be encouraged to break free & finally take control of his own story ("I needed to hear those words" -> "Those guys (the villains) need a hero, too" -> "You CAN be a hero" "Uh, whoopsie??" 🥲🥲🥲)

Sadly it ends up amounting to nothing because..... Tenko isn't even allowed to fully process the implications of his birth/life and how this has influenced his actions/beliefs/"dream" before exploding, a core scene between him and Nana gets offscreened, and our MC never even bothers to react to the revelation that Tenko's life was scripted. It renders a HUGE part of Tenko's character arc almost completely pointless because we get no actual resolution/pay off for everything that was set up. Like, so much of the finale + epilogue just feels like Hori was going down a check list of plot points/parallels he wanted to include before putting MHA out of its misery, rather than building up to them naturally-- and it's just sad it had to end this way, bc, well. It didn't HAVE to end this way. Hori had all the ingredients necessary to make something truly wonderful, but he didn't use them.

I never considered Fabia/mason as a ship, what are your thoughts about the ship? 👀

i think it's a very sweet ship but also funny as hell because it involves a hopelessly-in-love guy being pushed to express his feelings to a previously enemy princess by his bakugan grandma LMAOO

mason's crush on fabia is a little out of left field but if we write it off as love at first sight, it's all good. like i've said previously, mason developing feelings for fabia actually gives him more screen time and lets the audience see more of his character. up until this point, mason had been shown to be a very confident and self-assured person, but his crush on fabia shakes that image up by making him act like a love-sick fool. and we love to see it because it helps to flesh him out as a character. this is the first time we see him flustered, awkward and generally not as suave as he typically tends to comes across.

as for mason and fabia, i can definitely see romance blooming between them with time. i can see qualities in mason that fabia might appreciate/grow fond of, such as his decisiveness and confidence, his loyalty, his occasional goofy moments and, of course, his close relationship with avia. (you can't tell me that avia wouldn't immediately take a liking to fabia and start gossiping with her about her grandson partner.)

i enjoyed the way mason was utilized in the last half of gi instead of being yet another brainwashed soldier and i actually think his growth would've been a bit lacking if he also hadn't developed feelings for fabia. his first appearance made him seem rather self-absorbed but by the end of gi, he sets out to rescue his old teammates and proudly declares that he'll protect fabia, someone he previously viewed as an enemy. i also liked how mason was there for fabia when she needed help but he ultimately remained on the sidelines, watching her and aranaut settle their score with lumagrowl. bakugan m/f ships aren't always the most enjoyable because it's typically the girls who show their affection (which is rarely reciprocated in kind) but when it's the guy who's down bad for the girl he likes? that's a whole different story lmao

This dweeb would for sure be the one to bring all the ideas to you. I could see him running up to you, practically shaking from excitement as he takes a deep breath then tells you his thoughts.

“Link and Zelda, hm? That sounds fun but Link is canonically shorter than Zelda sooo…”

If you’re shorter than him, he’s immediately like “HELL YEAH!!! ILL BE THE PRINCESS. IM GONNA WEAR A DRESS!”

If you’re taller than him, he immediately gets flirty. “Oooh~ I can’t wait to see you dressed up like a princess. You’re gonna be so freaking adorbs.”

Honestly he gives zero fucks about gender roles and stuff like that. If he wants to dress as a female character, he will. And he won’t do some gender bent version of it, he’s going full out girly girl.

But he likes dressing as male and other gendered characters too. He just likes to cosplay his fav characters and sometimes his favs are girls. 🤷🏻 whatevs

A/n: Remember how I said that they were living in a house? Well let’s suppose it’s an apartment cuz I’ve been writing like they’re living in an apartment and not a house and I’m also imagining it that way I don’t know why, so they’re living in an apartment cuz I’m not gonna edit anything lmao

It was almost 7 pm and Cat was just on the balcony trying to “meditate”. Wanda was actually getting her into it when they were still at the compound because she says that Cat has a strong temper and that meditation could help her so they would do it together. And now Cat is trying to do it by herself even tho it hasn’t been so easy. But she’s getting there.

She took a deep breath and a noise from inside distracted her a little, but she kept her eyes closed trying to just maintain calm. Just a few minutes later, she heard the balcony door open and her eyes shoot open, looking up at the cause of the noise.

“Are you busy?” Bucky asked

“I don’t know, what do you think?”

“Is that a yes or…?”

She let out a sigh. “I’m trying to find some inner peace somewhere so I don’t kill you guys.” She replied

“Can I join?” He walked out and closed the door

“Do whatever you want, I don’t care.” She said closing her eyes again

“So what are we doing?” He asked sitting right in front of her in the same position she was

She opened her eyes again. “Why aren’t you with Steve?”

“Because I wanna be with you, is there a problem with that?”

“Why? So you can piss me off like you always do?”

“You piss me off too and you don’t see me whining.”

She rolled her eyes. “Whatever.”

“You want me to go?” He asked

She looked at him for a few seconds, thinking about what to respond. Honestly she didn’t mind having him there, yes he pisses her off and it’s been pissing her off for the last few weeks, but she couldn’t care less if he was in the balcony with her.

“No, it’s fine.” She replied “You can stay, but don’t try anything funny because I finally managed to get into this zen energy and if you piss me off, I swear I’m gonna throw you off the balcony.”

He just smirked at her. “Oh I wouldn’t dream of it, sweetheart.”

“Good.”

“So do I just.. do nothing?” He asked

“Basically.” She replied “Just.. try to relax.”

“Try to relax.. okay” He nodded

“Take five deep breaths.” She said, she started taking slow deep breaths and Bucky focused on doing just the same as her “Now close your eyes.”

She closed hers and Bucky did the same.

“Now we’re gonna do a quick scan for any discomfort or tension.”

“The cause of my tension is sitting right in front of me.” He said

“Hm, funny, mine is too.” She replied and he chuckled “Okay, take note of the discomfort but don’t try to change it.”

“Okay.” He nodded, taking a deep breath

“Now focus on your breathing and count them up to ten, don’t focus on anything else, just on your breathing.” She explained “It’ll help you relax.”

They did just that for a few minutes and then Cat was the first one to talk.

“You feel better?” She asked opening her eyes

“Am I supposed to feel different?” Bucky opened one eye to look at her

She couldn’t help but laugh a little. “You’re supposed to feel relaxed, yes.”

“Well I feel.. fine, I guess.” He shrugged

“Do I still stress you out?”

“Not right now, no.” He shook his head “Am I stressing you out?”

“No, I’m actually enjoying the company.” She replied

And she was telling the truth. Yeah, they have argued a few times before and there’s times where she really wants to punch him in the face, but they get along. They get along pretty well, actually.

“Wow, then this stuff really works, huh.” Bucky said

She shrugged. “I guess so, Wanda always said that it would help me with my “anger issues”.. which I do not have, let me clarify.”

“Sure.” He slowly nodded “Whatever you say.”

“I don’t have anger issues, you think I do?”

He nodded. “I think you have some built up anger.. or maybe just some resentment or something that makes you lash out sometimes.”

“You think I lash out?”

“Sometimes you do, yeah.”

“Nobody has ever told me that.” She said, a little surprised, to be honest

“That’s because you used to have a way to get it out when we were still in the compound.” Steve spoke from inside “Now you don’t have a way to get it out of your system like you used to, so sometimes you do lash out.” He walked over to the door, leaning on the door frame

She actually didn’t know that. She knew she wasn’t easy and she knew that she could be a pain in the ass sometimes and that she did get mad pretty quick. But she didn’t know that she actually took it out on the guys. Because, like Steve said, she did have a way to get it out where she didn’t need to scream at anybody, but now she doesn’t have that. And she does realize that she has been a little tense ever since all of this has been happening, which is also causing her some anxiety.

“I’m sorry.” She said

“It’s okay, we know how to handle it.” Steve replied “And we know you don’t actually mean to act like that.” He added with a small smile, which made her smile a little

“Yeah, but still.” She said wrapping her hair in a ponytail “I have to do something about that.”

“You are.” He said “By the way, I’m gonna buy a few things we need, you guys wanna come?”

“I’ll go with you.” Bucky said getting up from the floor

“Well I need to shower, I’m kinda sweaty.” Cat answered

“Thanks for the meditation class.” Bucky said leaning down to help Cat get up

“Yeah, like you enjoyed it.” She rolled her eyes supporting herself on his arm to stand up

“I did.” He nodded

She chuckled. “No, you didn’t.”

“Whatever, dude.” He rolled his eyes “Don’t believe me then.”

“Sam is in his room.” Steve told her “Call if you need anything.”

“Okay.” She nodded

The guys walked inside and she grabbed her things before heading inside too. After they left, Cat decided to take a shower.

After that, she just went and got dressed and decided to go and make herself a sandwich since she was a little hungry. She went to the kitchen, made the sandwich and then headed back to her room. Bucky and Steve weren’t back yet. She was just in her bed, drawing and listening music on a little radio that Sam actually got for her, portable, since he knew how much she loved to listen to music.

She finished the sandwich and she just stayed there drawing. A while later, there were some knocks on the door making her lower the volume of the radio a little bit.

“Come in.” She said

The door opened and Bucky’s head appeared out on the corner.

“Can I come in?” He asked

“Uh, yeah.” She replied

“So,” he started saying as he walked inside “I heard you talking to Steve a few days ago, about wanting to go out and do things.”

“Okay..?” She frowned confused

“So as you know, a few hours ago I went with Steve to buy some things and I convinced him to buy some beers.” He showed her the two beer bottles he was holding in his hand, which she didn’t even noticed he had when he walked in “I know it’s not the same as going out, but I think it’s close enough, right?”

“Right.” She nodded slowly

“So here you go.” He handed her one of the beers “You may not be legal in America yet, but you’re legal in Morocco.”

“I am.” She chuckled a little grabbing the beer “So are the guys drinking too or just us?”

“Just us.”

“Why?” She asked

“Because I want to.” He shrugged

“You just wanted to drink some beers with me?” She looked at him raising an eyebrow

“Yeah, what’s wrong with that?”

“Nothing, it’s just.. I don’t know, it’s weird that you’re here asking me to drink with you when we’ve been butting heads lately.” She tilted her head a little

“Take this as a peace treaty.” He said

She chuckled a little. “A peace treaty? So we’re not arguing anymore?”

“Well I’m down if you are.” He opened his beer bottle

She let out a sigh. “Fine.”

“So we’re good? Like, officially good?”

“We are, James.” She laughed “Now please open this for me.” She handed him her bottle

“You wanna go outside?” He asked her

“Outside to the living room or outside outside?”

“Outside outside.” He nodded “To the balcony.”

“Yeah, sure, let’s go.”

They both got up and left the room to go to the balcony.

“So why are you doing this?” She asked sitting on one of the chairs that were there

Bucky turned around to look at her. “Why do you keep asking?”

“Because! It’s just weird.” She chuckled “Why are being so nice?”

“I’m a nice guy, okay?” He said sitting on the other chair

“Yeah, right.” She rolled her eyes laughing “So what do you wanna do?”

“I don’t know, what do you wanna do?”

“Well I don’t know, I thought you had something in mind.”

“My plan was to drink and make peace with you.” He said “What do you wanna do?”

“I don’t know.” She took a sip of her beer “Kids these days play all sorts of things having alcohol involved, wanna play something, old man?”

“You know? You shouldn’t be calling me names when out of the two of us, I’m the one who can’t get drunk.”

She giggled. “Touché.”

“Wanna do 20 questions?”

“But I know too much about you already.”

“But I don’t know much about you.” He said tilting his head a little

“Yeah, guess you’re right.” She said “What do you wanna know, James?”

“You know my full name, what’s yours?”

“Catalina Giselle Navarro Álvarez.” She replied “In Latin America you have two last names, the first one is from your dad, you get his first surname and the second one is your mom’s first surname.”

“That’s actually kinda cool.” He said “It sounds very unique.”

“It kinda is.” She nodded “But it’s too long.”

“Where did Giselle come from?”

“I have no idea.” She shook her head “Mom said that she always liked the name and she thought it sounded nice with Catalina.”

“It does.”

She chuckled. “It doesn’t.”

“You need to learn to love your name more.”

“I like my name.” She said

“Well you need to like it more.” He replied “You need to love it, did your mom named you?”

She nodded. “She did.”

“Then that’s basically the only thing that you have from her, so you need to learn how to love it.”

She let out a sigh. “I don’t hate it.”

“But you don’t love it either.” He said and she shook her head “I love your name, for me it’s actually pretty unique.”

“And it is, sort of.” She shrugged “You don’t meet a Catalina very often.”

“Or a Catalina Giselle.”

“Exactly.” She giggled “I don’t know, I just don’t think they sound good together.”

“Well they do, so stop thinking that.”

“Alright, fine.” She rolled her eyes

“You’ve never mentioned anything about your dad.”

“Because I never met him.”

“Is he alive?”

“I don’t know.” She shrugged “Navarro isn’t even his last name so..”

“And who’s is it?” He asked

“My grandfather, he’s my mom’s stepdad, he raised her since she was two and when we were born, she used his last name for us.”

“Are you and your sister from the same father?”

“We’re not.” She responded “You’ve wasted six questions already.”

“Okay, fine!” He rolled his eyes “Can you dance?”

“Yes, but I think we mean different dances.” She replied “Can you dance?”

“Of course I can, are you kidding?” He said and she just chuckled “What can you dance?”

“Not slow dancing or whatever you did back in the 40s.. we kinda don’t do that anymore.”

“I haven’t exactly been up to date with that just yet.”

“I can help you with that.”

“Please do.” He nodded

The hours have passed, it’s almost 1 am and Bucky and Cat are still awake, although they decided to move to the couch after a few hours.

“My head hurts.” Cat yawned running her hand through her hair

“I think you’ve had enough beers for today.” Bucky spoke

“Hm, I think so too.” She ran her hands over her face

“Alright, come on.” He got up from the couch

Cat also tried to get up, but she felt kinda dizzy. “Oh shit.” She sat back down

“I told you to eat the chips.” He helped her get up

“But I’m fine.” She said

“Sure you are.” He let out a breathy chuckle “Come on, you’re going to bed.”

“I am kinda tired.”

“I know.” He said wrapping an arm around her

He helped her get to her room and once they were there, he made her sit on the bed.

“Are you awake still?” He asked when she just plopped on the bed

“I don’t know.” She sighed and he rolled his eyes smiling a bit

“Can you tell me where your pajamas are?”

“Don’t worry, I can do it.” She said

“You can barely keep your eyes open.” He chuckled “Tell me where they are, I can get them for you.”

“Third drawer.” She replied

He walked over to the dresser and opened the drawer to take out a t-shirt and some sleeping shorts. He went back to the bed and he left the clothes next to Cat.

“Come on, get up.” He grabbed her by the arm pulling her up so she could sit

“Why are you being so nice all of a sudden?” She looked at him

“What are you talking about?” He frowned squatting in front of her so he could see her face

The room didn’t have any lights on, the only light coming in was the one from the hall because the door was open.

“It just seems like you hate me sometimes.” She chuckled

“Hate is a strong word.”

“I think a man like you can handle that word.” She rolled her eyes

“I definitely don’t hate you.” He shook his head “Why would I?”

“Then why are you such an ass?”

“Why are you?”

“Fair enough.” She rolled her eyes “Get out, I’m gonna change.”

“You don’t want any help?”

She looked up at him and because she moved, their faces were very close. Her eyes went down to his lips and she shook her head lightly before running one of her hands over her forehead.

“Easy, soldier.” She shook her head “That wouldn’t be okay, would it?” She looked back at up at his eyes

“Says who?” He got back up

“You know it wouldn’t be okay.” She pushed him as she stood up from the bed

“Why?”

“Well for one, I’m drunk.” She said pushing him by the chest towards the door, so he was basically going backwards “And two, I don’t think our roommates would like it.”

“That makes it even more interesting.” Bucky leaned on the door frame

“Go to sleep.” She rolled her eyes with a little smile she was trying so hard to hide

“I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“Thank you for.. I don’t know.” She shrugged “For tonight I guess.”

“Anytime.” I smiled

“You have a very cute smile.”

“Wow you really are drunk if you’re complimenting me.”

“It just.. slipped.” She shook her head

“Right.” I chuckled

“Get out.” She giggled

“Good night.” He said

“Night.” She gave him a small smile

Seriousbrat… I admire your commitment to preaching the word of Mid Remus Lupin in this website… but you go so hard I’m starting to think you hate the guy… so I dare you to throw the stans a bone and tell us what do you think were the guy’s best qualities and compile a small list of things that he was above average at, if you can muster it. I double dare you!

LMAo it probably does seem that way! I definitely don't hate Remus. In fact I like him quite a lot. I also enjoy writing him and his plotline for this next part of my fic has been a lot of fun!

Honestly, I tend to cut Remus a lot of slack, especially as a teen. I'm not sure if you're referencing this post but believe it or not that was a list of things I find interesting about him because flaws are a good thing for a character to have in my book! I also feel like I defended him in that post or at least empathised with him haha.

The thing is, being a werewolf just seems so awful, in a way that's obviously difficult to comprehend in real life, that I find a lot of his behaviour much more understandable than I do the other Marauders/Snape. Everything he does has to be viewed through that lens. And despite everything he manages to be kind, thoughtful and brave and I do find that very admirable!

Moony's best hits:

Bravery: he's avoidant, sure, but I don't think this is out of true cowardice. Or it might be cowardly in a sense, but I don't think this precludes him from being brave in other ways. It stems from his self-hatred; Remus would rather be miserable himself than inflict himself on others. VERY SAD. But he's willing to put himself into danger, fight for the Order, risk his own life, live in terrible and dangerous conditions for the cause. I don't think it can be said that he's not brave at all, even if he displays cowardice at times. He isn't scared of dying for what he believes, but he's terrified of himself, which is a totally different type of fear and requires a different kind of bravery to surmount.

Kindness: I do see Remus as very kind in nature. He immediately identifies Neville as having potential but needing a little extra guidance. It's him that befriends Peter and includes him in the group, and I see it as the same thing. The moments that Remus seems less than kind (ignoring Snape's bullying, for instance) I think he is actively going against his own nature, but unlike the other Marauders he's aware of that and it does cause him internal conflict. He has to choose between possibly losing the only friends he might ever know, or doing the right thing, and that's a more difficult choice than I think we realise, particularly for a teenager. But I see him as essentially very empathetic. As an adult he expresses remorse for the way they treated Snape, much more than Sirius does when Sirius has more to feel guilty about, and does his best to be civil and respectful even when Snape gets him fired and is horrible to him lol. Which is something.

Cleverness: He is very smart, although I imagine at school this was somewhat overshadowed by James and Sirius. But he has a different kind of intelligence imo, one that's more understated and thoughtful. I also think his own brand of unassuming yet witty humour is what drew James and Sirius to him initially, once they spotted it. If you don't know Remus very well, you might not think he's particularly funny but he is. Similarly, I think he was a good, hardworking student, and particularly adept at Defence Against the Dark Arts. Again, he was overshadowed by the flashiness of James and Sirius- I don't think Remus totally minded, though, as he would have wanted to fly under the radar for the most part.

Thoughtfulness: I know this is kind of similar to cleverness, but where Sirius, and to a lesser extent James, is very driven by instinct and recklessness, I see Remus as much more circumspect. He thinks about the impies (implications) of things. In fact, he thinks a LOT. The Lupin brain is constantly turning, and his inner world is very complex with a lot of conflict that he's constantly sorting through. I think in part he longs to be carefree and careen through life the way he sees Sirius doing, but obviously his condition means he has to be very cautious. And this also means that he's very considerate towards others. He picks up on suffering around him and thinks about how his actions might affect others. A little too much, but there it is.

Honesty: This might seem strange given he has to lie and hide things throughout the books, but again I think this is him going against his true nature. The way I see Lyall and Hope, I think Remus was raised with honesty as a core value. I also think he was a BAD liar lol, unfortunately for him. This is in complete contrast to Sirius, who is an excellent liar because he was raised in a way that necessitated it. I know I keep comparing him to Sirius but that's just the kind of juicy wolfstar #Dynamics that I live for. I think Remus values honesty and the fact that he can't practise it causes him turmoil. It must have been a huge relief when his friends discovered his secret and he could stop lying to them; for this reason I think Remus would have been reluctant to get close to anyone outside of their group.

I know a lot of these are "Remus is X but he doesn't actually do it" but that's the point of his character!!! Remus is constantly at war with his own nature, and this is made literal through his being a werewolf. The contrast between who Remus is (mild, polite, thoughtful, kind) and the violent beast he carries around within him, the complete opposite, is the whole point. That's why I can't stand fanon Remus being this swaggering aggressive alpha male lol. but anyway

Hopefully that's enough! I also think he was loyal, obviously, particularly to James and Dumbledore, who had shown him unprecedented acceptance, and later, Harry. His speech about Harry on Potterwatch after parting on bad terms is always a touching moment for me. But I think his loyalty has to be won, and it is rarely bestowed. He just can't trust like that 💔

omg or he gets you a lil fun fact book on something you both like so you can share weird fun facts with him every time you meet up for coffee/food and he'll pretend as though he hasn't read a bunch of them already

all in all, friendship with wonwoo is filled with intention. he's an extremely thoughtful best friend down to the tiniest details because he values you so very much <3

Hi! Let's see what I can come up with..

LIGHTING/GRAPHICS MODS Easy to use/install, lighting mods can change the look of your game drastically with little effort! I use a few:

no-glo

no-blu

graphicsrules override

I use this camera mod too, much less drifty...

Softerhaze makes some bomb ass lighting mods too.. I just switched from twinkle toes to sunblind and I am in LOVE - gamechanger lemme tell you.. so pretty! LOOKIT!!

RESHADE I'm still using g-shade at the moment but after recent events, I'll probably end up switching back again when I can be arsed. The effects you can achieve with reshade presets are amazing tbh.. and it's real fun to mess around with and create your own! Tho lots of people have made awesome ones if that's a bit much for you. If your PC can't handle it all too well you can always just switch it off until it's time to take screenies as well.

COMPOSITION Kinda hard to explain but basically, composition is what's in your frame and how you line it all up. I'd recommend reading some photography guides to get the gist of the concept.. but honestly, the more you mess around the more you'll get the hang of it. I've always loved photography and sims screenies really aren't so different. If you use reshade there's even some templates for thirds/the golden ratio etc you can slap on top for practice. Personally I don't use 'em cos I prefer my own judgement (that sounds rlly obnoxious but we're rolling with it). I found a template to show you what I mean! (ngl I was stoked that the first screenie I thought of for being a good eg. almost perfectly fit into this golden ratio shit LOL) but let's keep in mind how long I scooted around to get a good shot of this.. pretty sure I deleted about 10 other failed shots of this but shhhh, it's trial and error!

ANGLES/FOCUS The way you take a shot and how you angle it can change the whole feel of the image. For example.. in this image I tilted down and bit and filled over two thirds of the shot with the man, he's a big character and quite an intimidating guy so I think it helps get the idea across without pointing it out (at least I think so but idk I could also be talking outta my ass)

Similarly in these two shots below.. the first with the guy on the left gives the feel that he's in control here. The "camera" is tilted above him slightly and he's all up in your face, making the woman look much smaller in comparison. BUT! If you flip around to the second image, tilt down a bit and switch the focus to her, it makes him look more insignificant and less in control. I hope this makes sense??

EDITING/PHOTOSHOP ACTIONS ETC Personally I don't use photoshop actions but there's plenty out there to do the work for you! I think Intramoon? maybe.. has made a few but idk, you guys feel free to jump in with any suggestions! You can also smooth, fix stuff, change the mood/lighting, all sorts.. my advice on this is patchy at best tbh cos I just faff around until I see what I like lmao.. which leads me on tooooooo...

FUCK AROUND AND FIND OUT Lol.. but seriously! I don't know what I'm doing. I've never taken any classes or read up on much, I always just jump in and see what happens. Fuck around with reshade, fuck around with camera mods, fuck around with composition/focus, fuck around with photoshop or gimp or w/e.. just mess about for a while and have fun! I promise you'll get better.

I've never had a thing for gargoyles before but I have a crush on this guy. the bookstore scenario is so cute, and the way he's so casual and rough around the edges, then suddenly breaks his composure and fucks the life out of the reader is just perfect. I've been daydreaming about this all day. What's Heath's apartment like, if you can tell me? :D is he the owner of the bookstore? LMAO loved the shading of the reader's sad human boyfriend. I'm guessing Heath has a nicer place and more money than the reader, too. I love that aspect, it adds to the dynamic of him being more powerful and taking care of his cute new little human, while also putting his claim on them by taking them into his 'territory'.

His loyalty is so cute. Bet it'll be so fun for him to get to wake up with the reader, spend the whole morning together and go to work together. Poor thing can never fake being sick to get out of work again, though XD how much patience do you think heath would have for the reader if she struggled with depression and couldn't necessarily be very productive? Reading this I was just thinking about how different I am at home then at work because I only have enough energy to be productive for so long before I crash and become useless lol

Haha I’m glad you like him! I don’t know why but I’m obsessed with sort of average everyday leads, though Heath does own the bookstore. He’s not like a psycho CEO or anything, though. He’s a pretty laid back guy who literally hired you because he thought you were cute. This was really fun to answer, because I adore Heath!

Here are the answers:

As for his apartment: 

He lives on the 22nd floor of a building overlooking the city, but it’s not crazy expensive or anything. He’s pretty much upper middle class, but has a good savings and retirement plan. It’s got two bedrooms, a bedroom and a study for his bookshelves, with a large wide balcony. 

He has a cat named Aero and a fishtank with freshwater fish. He likes dogs, but he’s not a dog person, preferring quiet snuggling with his kitty.

He also likes to be surrounded by living things and keeps easy to care for potted plants. His balcony is packed with plants in terra cotta pots he’s raised from cutlets that he’s collected from various little old ladies that come into the bookstore. I just imagine him having a whole fan club of grandmas who found out he’s into balcony gardening and wont stop gifting him cuttings from their plants at home.   

Heath likes to read so he’s got a ton of old special edition books he saved for himself from running the bookstore and comfortable chairs. 

He’s not a slob but he was definitely a bachelor before you. Most things in his house are practical except the books. His house looks very casual with oversized comfy, but quality furniture in cool neutral shades. He does have a nice wooden bedframe on his very large bed, for his very large body. He even has matching sheet sets and pillowcases. 

He doesn’t know much about decorating so he’s excited to decorate with you. Before you moved in he just had fan posters he got from the bookstore and framed, which he wasn’t particularly attached to. His walls were painted gray before you and he’s excited to pick paint colors with you. 

He usually uses his balcony as his front door and flies up to his apartment. He will give you a ride. 

He’s a big cuddle bug and a huge introvert. When he’s at home he’s a ton more cuddly and touchy than he is at work. At work he puts on a bit more of a tough, boss facade, but at home he just wants to curl up on the couch and read books as much as possible. 

His house is noticeably quiet. He doesn’t watch loud movies. He doesn’t listen to loud music. When he does play video games, he wears headphones. He likes a peaceful atmosphere at home. 

If the reader struggled with depression: 

He would be very sympathetic and want to get you help from a doctor because he’s very data driven. He likes to learn everything possible about a subject before he takes action. He’d probably want to go to some of your doctor’s appointments with you just to make sure you’re getting the help you need and that he is doing everything right to help you

He would be really gung-ho about treatment and help you organize your medications, buying you cute little pill containers to put them in

He would definitely let you stay home on days you just weren’t feeling up to it because really he’s more worried about you than how you behave as an employee. He will always want to cuddle with you when you just want to stay pressed in the couch and sometimes read you books while you take your depression naps

However, he would be really strict about doctor mandated schedules, which might cause friction sometimes. He will drag you out of bed and make you do some exercise! He will chase you around with a water bottle and remind you to drink it! He will make you go to bed on time! He will insist on buying healthy food for meals! He will carefully watch your drinking and give you glasses of juice and say they are alcoholic when you are overdoing it. He’s not above tricking you when you are being silly or stubborn, but most of the time he’ll just fuck the sense into you.

i won't lie me n satoru have the most thought out relationship out of all my selfships bc i've quite literally been thinking about him for four years now. when i'm having a rough day satoru is on a mission to cheer me up, but won't ever admit it. he'll subtly do things to make me happy like playfully annoy me or take me to do things i enjoy !!

as for if he's in a bad mood, i'd just get him things he likes (like sweets) and tease him until he's grinning and teasing back. i think we'd have a very bickering heavy relationship so i know he's all better when he's got that dynamic back (a couple of hugs and kisses here and there wouldn't hurt either) <33

this might sound weird but we don't necessarily talk about our bad days/things we struggle with. it's more so a type of thing where we can just tell that smth is wrong, and the best way to deal with that is just be present. so basically actions over words and we never bring it up again lmao...

shoko and i are very different. i am 100% more clingy with her so if i'm having a bad day she will let me cuddle with her or just stay attached to her hip until i'm better. she'll probably act all teasy and semi exasperated but i'd like to think she doesn't mind :33

Little Nightmares III, huh???

I was trying to avoid being excited about it because no solid release date and 2024 could be a few months from now or a year from now and Idk how long I can handle being so fuckin hyped for this game YEEHAW

BUT I CAN'T, I KEEP THINKING ABT THE GAME AAHAHHGAGA

so here are my thoughts, if you wanted to know

FIRST OF ALL, i am so glad that after we saw LTNM II we thought it'd be co-op but it was just an AI, that we finally get co-op! AND ONLINE TOO, i spent the first day worried it'd be shared screen same room situation since i wasn't trying to get my hopes up but then I realised I can just.. google it.. AND IT IS!!! ONLINE!! IDK WHO I AM GONNA PLAY IT W FIRST AAAAAAAA

anyways, you can definitely tell it's a new studio working on this game, the world feels mostly the same but the character designs themselves are definitely stylistically similar, but not the same. With Six especially, the MC designs were very simplistic and realistic but used colour (or for Mono, a single design quirk being the bag) to stand out against their backgrounds and against the enemies which are largely neutral colours. But these new ones feel... "over designed"? On their own they definitely aren't, but in comparison to Mono, Six, Seven, and even NPCs like the flashlight girl, they have a lot more going on (especially the little wrench kid, Idk which one is Alone and which one is Low yet btw OOP)

Despite it being a new studio and you can tell, new puzzles and environments, they're still doing their best to have the OGs vibes and whatnot to feel familiar, namely in the trailer they bring back the fuses, and the additional gameplay video there's a short scene with an environment with all the shelves you can find in LTNM 1s gnome section (the one with the cart that is affected by the Maws swaying).

But regardless, it still feels different enough my brain is still nervous about it. I also feel In A Way about Tarsier having LTNM II explode and their franchise getting the attention it deserves, only to have it stuck with Bandai and now it's going to likely explode again and they aren't involved. Idk how anyone on that team feels about it, but if it were me omg.

Also the only boss we've seen so far (i hope they add more and i def want some to be a surprise so im not gonna assume this is the only one for now) feels... out of place? it has the design qualities of a LTNM boss, but the size of it makes it more of a spectacle than a warped/corruption of an adult. All the previous bosses fit in their environment, we are the small ones and they are scaled to the world around them. This is the first time, outside monster Six who imo is a bit of an outlier anyways due to her circumstances, we're getting a boss who is this huge and doesn't even fit their own environment. I hope we get a lore reason for this in some way, because currently the boss doesn't have the same vibe as the others and it's throwing me off a bit. Don't get me wrong, it'll be terrifying, but looking at the picture as a whole they are sort of out of place for me rn. I don't hate the bitch either, I'm not gonna be like omg get rid of it or change it, but it does strike me as odd seeing it for now.

And yes the tall man is too tall for a lot of things, but he's not THAT big. He's more like yer tall guy who hits his head off doorways, which happens irl anyways LMAO

Little Nightmares primarily tries to capture the feeling of being a small child and how everything is big and scary, but a doll that huge is out of the realm of reality set up for us already. It's gone from scary corrupted animal to godzilla, if that makes sense.

Note: Been feeling unmotivated to write, so I decided to tap into my love of Chris and of irl baseball to do some dialogue practice. Thank u to the daiya server for motivating me and to @paleokarst for talking over the ending :*

“What’s that?” You give Chris a quizzical look as he steps through the front door carrying a large plastic storage box in his arms.

“Hello to you too.”

You pad over to give him the usual greeting kiss. “Yeah, yeah, welcome home or whatever. Now tell me what this is.”

“My parents found it while cleaning out their basement and I thought you might want to look through it together.” He sets it down in front of the couch. Reaching inside, he pulls out one of many smaller cardboard boxes and opens it to reveal a neatly-packed row of cards. “They’re my old baseball cards.”

“Seriously?” The box is in your hands in an instant and you immediately begin rifling through its contents.

There's a few minutes of focused silence until, “OH MY GOD,” you exclaim, brandishing a card at him. “This can’t be his real name. Dick Pole?! Dick. Pole.”

“Sadly, it is,” Chris chuckles before holding out a card of his own. “Here, I found one for you.”

“NO. His name is not Rusty Kuntz?!”

He snorts. “Actually, it’s pronounced KOON-tz.”

You erupt in cackles. “I mean…if my name were Rusty Kuntz, I would also insist that it’s pronounced KOON-tz.”

“What else do we have here— hello, what’s this?”

Glancing over, he sees you reach for a small leather binder. “Oh that’s where I kept my special cards.”

“Your special cards?” You tease, “god little Chris was such a little nerd.”

He rolls his eyes, pulling you closer to give you a peck on the head. “Well you’re the one dating me so what’s that say about you?”

“That apparently I like nerds,” and pointing to one of the cards, you urge, “now come on nerd, tell me what’s so special about this guy.”

“Ah, that’s Bob Gibson. He’s a Hall of Famer, probably the best right-handed pitcher in St. Louis history. He was good at fielding too, which is rare for a pitcher. He worked hard and led the team to two World Series wins.”

You flip through a few more pages. “Wow you have a lot of this Iván Rodríguez guy too.”

“Well, he was my favorite player growing up and maybe the best catcher of all time.”

“What makes him the best?”

“He’s a solid hitter and his defensive play is exceptional. He’s got unparalleled game sense and a great strategic mind. Um, he’s caught for some of the best pitchers of the era and he caught nine no-hitters. The only way you can have a no-hitter is if the battery works perfectly, so that means he was able to bring out the best in a lot of different pitchers. Plus, he was always fun to watch.”

“Is he why you became a catcher?”

“You know…” Chris contemplates for a moment, “that’s honestly never occurred to me. My dad was obviously the reason I started, but I played a lot of different positions before deciding on catcher. Dad was the one who suggested I try it — he thought I had a good understanding of the game — but you might be right, maybe I stuck with it because I wanted to be like Iván.”

You hum in response. “Makes sense. The way you described him…he clearly has a lot of qualities that you value as a player.”

It’s long past dinner time when the two of you finally tire of strolling down memory lane and begin to tidy up the mess of cards now littered across the couch cushions and coffee table.

“What are you gonna do with all of these?”

“Well right now I’m going to put them away. Then I’ll probably give some away and throw away the rest.”

“You’re not keeping any?”

“Nah. It’s not like they’re worth anything.”

“Well in that case, I’m gonna keep these.” You swipe the leather binder from the box before he carries the rest off into the storage closet down the hall.

“What do you think?” You gesture toward the refrigerator when Chris returns.

Some of the precious real estate on the fridge door has been tidied up, and a cleaned-up Rangers magnet now holds his signed Iván Rodríguez card front and center, nestled between memories. To its left is a picture of him with his parents and Coach Kataoka after his first game with Seidou. Below it is another picture of him and the coach, this time graduating from Seidou alongside the rest of his teammates. To its right is a picture of the two of you at his MLB debut game, your smile toothy and gleeful as you hold up the ball from his first major league hit.

A lump forms in his throat.
