"So, what exactly do we need to bring with us?" Carrie asked, leaning over your shoulder as you spread out your notes in front of you on the desk.
"Maria said she wanted to have an idea of our production numbers for each season, so we know what we can spare for trades."
A couple months ago on patrol, Tommy and Joel came across a smaller community deep in the mountains. After watching them carefully for a few weeks, and a very lively discussion during a town hall meeting, it was agreed that they would approach the community in an attempt to strike up a trading relationship.
Satisfied that you had all the documentation you needed, you stuffed the notebooks into your pack, along with a few samples of medicinal herbs as a good faith gift.
You both slid on your coats, hats, and gloves as you made your way to the stables, the early spring morning still very brisk. The sun was just beginning to peek over the trees as you approached the small group waiting outside the barn. You scanned the group of five quickly before your eyes settled on Joel, who had been talking to Eugene about something that made him appear tense until he saw you approach, and his face relaxed.
"All set?" Joel asked you, taking your rolled up sleeping bag and attaching it to the back of the saddle, next to his own.
"I think so," you replied while giving Eugene a smile and wave in greeting.
"Shouldn't be too long of a trip, dear. We'll be back tomorrow, late afternoon," Eugene told you as he mounted his horse.
Tommy had chosen a neutral place in between both settlements to discuss trades: an abandoned ski lodge. When you heard of the location, you were grateful you wouldn't have to sleep on the muddy forest floor.
Joel hopped up on the back of the horse and reached his arm down to help you climb up behind him. You wrapped your arms around his stomach and gave him a small squeeze with your arms.
"You didn't have to come, you know," Joel murmured over his shoulder as he followed behind Jake and Carrie's horse, exiting through the gate.
"Yeah, but what would I do while you were gone? Probably just waste away," you joked, making yourself chuckle.
"I'm serious," he said. "Could be dangerous. We don't know these people yet."
"It'll be fine, Joel," you tried to assure him. "I'll just explain my production numbers, Carrie will discuss the medicinal stuff, and we will just hang back while you guys figure out the rest."
Joel huffed and rolled his shoulders.
"Just don't like you outside Jackson too much. Like knowin' that you're safe," he said, directing your horse around a fallen tree.
"I know. But I want to help. Maria is excited. She said this could be really good for the town, and I want to do my part."
He grunted, effectively ending the conversation.
Joel had always felt this intense need to protect you. Since outbreak day, his one and only goal was to keep you safe. There had been a few close calls in your journey before Jackson, ones that affected him deeply and stirred up frequent panic attacks from shouldering the guilt and blame. When you found Jackson, he was finally able to relax, seeing you safe and happy. He still struggled with his own trauma from past events, some days worse than others. And taking you outside the walls of Jackson was steadily careening him towards having one of those bad days.
You reached the ski lodge before the other group, much to Joel's relief. It was the first time you've seen him look pleased all day. The place was enormous. You noticed it appeared to be able to host weddings or conferences in the off-season as you walked by three huge ballrooms and a kitchen before you finally reached the main lounge. Couches, sofa chairs, and tables with chairs were scattered around the two-story room. The walls were mostly windows, allowing visitors to admire the beautiful mountains surrounding the building.
The room was built around a big fireplace in the center, which Tommy and Jake immediately began to inspect.
"Maybe we should get some wood. We're early, we got time to kill," Tommy mused aloud. Joel's head swiveled around the two-story lounge while he gripped his rifle, looking up at the balconies above to make sure you were truly alone.
Tommy slid his backpack off and rummaged around until he found a hatchet in its leather carrying case.
"C'mon, Joel. Before we lose daylight," Tommy said, giving Joel pause. His eyes flicked over to you sitting at a table talking to Carrie while you unloaded the food, no doubt planning what to make for the group for dinner.
"Can you take Eugene?" Joel asked him quietly, so the rest of the group wouldn't overhear. Tommy raised an eyebrow at his brother before answering.
"Joel. I'm not gonna ask an old man to trek into the forest and help me haul wood up all those steps."
"Jake, then," Joel tried, his eyes traveling back to you. Tommy sighed and put a hand on Joel's shoulder.
"It'll be 30 minutes, at most," Tommy assured him. "She's a big girl, she'll be alright. Y'know she can defend herself, probably better than most."
"Yeah, but what if the other group comes when we're gone?" Joel asked, furrowing his brow and shifting his weight.
"We've met them before, Joel. You've met them before. What's the problem?" Tommy asked, growing impatient. Joel sighed and reluctantly slung his rifle over his shoulder.
"Alright, let's be quick," Joel huffed.
Joel made his way over to you as Tommy let the group know his plan to collect some firewood. Joel gave you a quick kiss and squeezed your bicep gently.
"I'll be right back, sweetheart," he murmured.
"Be careful," you told him with a small smile. His gaze lingered on you for a moment, his mouth opening and closing anxiously, unsure how to vocalize his concerns.
"Joel! Let's get a move on," Tommy called out as he made his way back down the hallway that led to the entrance.
"Sooner you leave, the sooner you'll be back," you told him, giving his chest a small shove. He nodded and turned on his heel to follow Tommy down the hall.

You and Carrie were opening some canned goods and rifling through the kitchen when you heard the front doors of the lodge swing open. At first, you thought Joel and Tommy had managed to cut up firewood in less than fifteen minutes, but then you heard strange voices, and you knew it must have been the new community arriving. You dusted your palms on the sides of your jeans and glanced at Carrie.
"Guess we should join the others," you told her, trying to keep your voice steady. You didn't want to worry Joel, but the prospect of meeting new people in a strange place did make you a little nervous. You didn't have the best track record with people since the outbreak.
As the two of you made your way back into the lounge, you subconsciously rested your hand on the butt of your handgun. You entered the room just as the group was entering from the other end. You examined them carefully as you made your way over to Maria. They had brought five men with them. Two of which were older and had grey beards, one was bald while the other had messy curls. The other three were younger. One seemed particularly young, younger than you. He was skinny and his eyes darted around nervously. You got the impression he was asked to join as an extra body and a last resort.
The last two men were likely in their thirties and seemed to be the muscle of the group. One of the men had darker hair that was shaved close to his head and a rigid jaw. You vaguely wondered if he had past military or police training.
Your eyes finally landed on the last man, only to discover he had already clocked you from across the room. He had dirty blonde, slicked back hair with piercing blue eyes and was surprisingly clean shaven. You noticed most of the men in Jackson didn't bother to shave their beards unless it was particularly hot out, so it struck you as strange. Maybe you had been staring because when you met in the middle of the room, the blonde man's eyes never left your face.
"Neil, Dean, great to see you again," Maria greeted the two older men with a handshake. You could tell immediately they were kind by the way they smiled and spoke, which helped ease your nerves a bit. However, the blonde man had yet to stop staring at you, and it was becoming unnerving. You felt Carrie shift next to you and you wondered if she noticed it, too.
Maria introduced you and Carrie to Neil and Dean, since Jake and Eugene were already acquainted with them. When you shook their hands and looked into their eyes, your nerves settled a little more.
"And I'm sorry, I don't believe we've met," Maria said to the other three with a smile.
"Oh, where are my manners," Neil, the balding one, said. "This is Lucas, Sam, and Carter." Neil pointed to each of them respectively. Sam was the young, skinny boy, Lucas was the military type, and Carter the blonde.
You looked each of them in the eye and gave them a tight smile. Carter gave you a sly smirk and you instantly looked away, focusing your attention on Maria. She invited the group to sit at a larger table in the lounge, and you all traipsed over to find a seat. You didn't think it was a coincidence that Carter sat directly across from you, and when you exchanged quick looks with Carrie, you could tell she noticed, too.
"So," Maria said, folding her hands on top of the table. "Tommy and Joel are just out getting firewood, but they should be back soon. We can get started, I don't want to keep you unnecessarily."
"Sure thing," Dean said, reaching into his bag to pull out some notebooks.
"Why don't we start with the girls? They can go over our medicine and vegetable harvest numbers, and then Eugene can discuss livestock," Maria said, looking at you expectantly. You took a breath and reached across the table to grab your worn notebook.
You began by showing the men your production numbers from the past year for vegetables, all of them nodding along and taking notes except for Carter, who was blatantly trying to get a look down your shirt when you leaned over. You had enough and shot him a frown in the hopes of embarrassing him, but a wide grin just spread across this face instead.
You were wrapping up and about to pass your notebook along to Carrie to review the medicinal herbs when Carter finally spoke for the first time.
"That's all?" he said, the deepness of his voice surprising you. You looked at him and blinked.
"What do you mean?" you asked, your fingers still pressed onto the open pages of your notebook.
"Vegetables and fruit? I'm sure you got something else you can trade, sugar," he said, his eyes quickly scanning your body up and down.
You paused for a moment, wondering if you were just paranoid or if he was really suggesting what you thought he was suggesting. Your gaze flicked back to Maria, who seemed to pick up on the same thought you had, and she stiffened in her chair.
"Carter," Neil said lowly, his tone a warning. Your left hand remained on the notebook, but your right hand fell to your side, fingers tapping the butt of your gun.
After a heavy silence that seemed to last an eternity, Carter's face split into a toothy smile as he laughed heartily.
"Come on now, I'm just kidding. Relax, girly," he said to you, but you did anything but relax. In an attempt to not ruin the potential trading relationship with this community, you pushed the notebook to Carrie and leaned back in your chair, choosing to let his comments go.
Carrie nervously and quickly went through the numbers on the herbs while you kept your eyes trained on her, ignoring the heat of Carter's gaze.
Carrie was just finishing up when you heard the front doors swing open once again, and relief flooded through you when you heard Tommy and Joel walking up the hallway.
They entered the room with armfuls of wood, which they deposited next to the fireplace in order to shake hands with Dean and Neil. They were then introduced to the rest of the group with firm nods of their heads before pulling up chairs of their own. Maria was catching Tommy up on what he missed when Joel sat down next to you. You turned in your chair and put your hand on top of his with a squeeze. He gave you a quick smile and leaned forward to listen to Maria, oblivious to the way Carter was studying you two. Carrie met your gaze, and her eyes widened a fraction, trying to silently convey the thought you were also having: what the fuck?
Before Eugene could begin talking about the livestock numbers, you stood up and tugged on Carrie's arm in the process, also making her stand.
"We're gonna go back to the kitchen, get some food ready," you announced, and Maria nodded, her eyes briefly looking at Joel before falling back on you. Joel was looking up and watching you curiously. You gave him a tight smile before hurrying back to the kitchen with Carrie. It was then that he finally noticed Carter's gaze, which was firmly fixed on your retreating form, not even trying to hide the way he stared at your ass as you left the room. Joel cleared his throat roughly, drawing Carter's attention off you and onto him. He gave Joel a light huff and turned his attention back to Maria.
"That was fucking awkward," Carrie said with a disbelieving laugh once you were safe inside the kitchen.
"Okay, so it wasn't just me?" you asked, your hands on your hips. She shook her head.
"Oh, hell no. Even Jake noticed it. Joel's gonna fucking kill him if he pulls that shit again," Carrie said, and you groaned, getting back to prepping various dishes for dinner.

Dinner went smoother. Carter mostly kept his eyes to himself, the tension from the room had dissipated, and the group had begun laughing and trading stories. It appeared while you and Carrie were making dinner that a trading agreement had taken place. Tommy had brought a bottle of whiskey along and was passing it around to celebrate while you and Carrie helped clean up. You were picking up a stack of plates at the end of the table when you heard a voice behind you.
"How 'bout dessert, sugar?" Carter whispered in your ear, making you nearly drop the stack of plates in your hands. You whipped around but he had already taken a few quick steps back, creating a healthy distance from you so as not to draw the attention of others.
"Excuse me?" you said, your heart hammering in your chest. He held up his hands in mock surrender with a smirk.
You so badly wanted to tell him off, stand your ground and make it known you weren't just brought along to feed people and clean up after them, that you were doing it to help your friends, your community. But you recalled how excited Maria was about this relationship, and looking at her now, you could see she was relieved that she could provide more goods to the town with this new prospect. So, you gave Carter the benefit of the doubt.
"There might be canned fruit or something," you muttered, trying to find Carrie so you could walk back to the kitchen together, but Carter reached out and snatched your elbow, this time drawing a scowl to your face.
"I was thinkin' 'bout somethin' else," he said, and you could now tell he had been drinking by the slur in his words and the heaviness in his eyes. You swallowed roughly and glanced around the room, scanning for Joel. He was talking with Dean and Tommy near the fire, his back to you.
"Don't gotta be nervous. It's a compliment," Carter told you, picking up on your anxious body language.
"I'm with him," you said curtly, nodding your chin in Joel's direction. "Even if I wasn't, I'm not interested."
His eyes slowly dragged across the room and landed on Joel before swinging his head back to you, giving you a shrug.
"Huh," was all he said in response, still looking at you hungrily. Over Carter's shoulder, you saw Joel shift, his eyes instantly landing on you. In your periphery, you saw his body tense and he began to make his way across the room. Your eyes flicked to his and he stopped in his tracks, waiting for you to direct him. You gave him a subtle but firm shake of your head. His jaw clenched but he stayed where he was, his eyes jumping from you to Carter.
You turned and marched towards the kitchen, your pulse racing so fast you felt lightheaded.

You all settled in for the night, rolling out sleeping bags and claiming couches. The new group ended up having too much to drink and decided to leave in the morning. You were fixing up your sleeping bag next to Joel's while he stared at Carter flopping down on a couch from across the vast room. You weren't thrilled with the idea of having to stay the night in the same place, but you were comforted by the fact that you were next to Joel and your friends.
"I don't like the way he looks at you," Joel said bluntly as you unzipped your sleeping bag.
"I don't either," you told him, and his eyes finally dragged from Carter to look at you, the surprise evident on his face. He had fully expected you to insist he was overreacting, but the fact you agreed with him put him on edge even more.
"Let's just get through the night and get back home," you said, tucking yourself into your sleeping bag.
"You ain't leavin' my sight til then," he said gruffly, then followed your lead, zipping his bag up partially so he could still press his upper body against yours while you slept.
And although you agreed, not wanting to leave his sight, you found your bladder was too full shortly after everyone had fallen asleep. You looked over your shoulder at Joel. He was sound asleep and snoring softly against the back of your neck, his arms wrapped around your waist loosely. You thought about waking him up but decided against it. He looked so peaceful, and you knew you would be quick.
Before standing up, you glanced around the room. The rest of the group seemed fast asleep, and the bathrooms were only a few feet away from where you slept. You sighed and slowly unraveled yourself from Joel's grasp. He grunted and readjusted, moving to sleep on his back, but remained out cold.
The ladies restroom had three stalls and two sinks. You went as fast as you could, eager to get back to the warmth of the lounge and Joel's embrace. It was dark, but it was a full moon, so you didn't bother to bring a flashlight with you.
You swung the bathroom door open to exit into the short hallway when you smacked into a wall of muscle, causing you to stumble backwards in alarm.
"Wha-" you began to say, but a strong hand clamped over your mouth, stifling your words and pushing you backwards into the room, your back slamming hard against the wall.
You couldn't see who it was, but you knew it wasn't Joel based on touch and scent alone. And when you heard his voice, it just confirmed your suspicions.
"Finally gotcha alone, sweetness," Carter muttered into your ear, pinning you against the wall. You struggled against him, but he was too strong, and you were having a hard time seeing in the dark. Your heart was pounding in your chest, blood rushing in your ears as the panic set in. Not again, please, not again.
He brought his face in front of yours and you could smell his sour breath, stale whiskey invading your nostrils as you mumbled against his palm.
"Really happy we met today," he said quietly. "Your town's got some real pretty women. Maybe we can come to some kind of arrangement. I can get you things, for a price..." he trailed off as his other hand skirted down your side. You squeezed your eyes shut and brought your knee up as hard as you could, praying in the dark that you could hit your target. A loud groan that bubbled up from his throat let you know you were successful. His hand slipped from your mouth slightly as he doubled over, clutching his crotch with the hand that was just on your body moments ago.
"Joel-!" you began to shout, but his hand quickly covered your mouth again, this time with more pressure, bringing tears to your eyes.
"Shut the fuck up," he muttered angrily, bringing his other hand up to your neck. "Quit bein' such a tease, you been starin' at me all night."
You shook your head as much as you could with your mouth still held prisoner by his palm. You brought your hands up to claw at his hand pressing on your throat, your vision going spotty.
Suddenly, the pressure was gone, allowing air to flow freely again. You gasped and coughed, leaning forward as your fingers gently touched the sore skin on your neck. You quickly stood back up, swinging your head around in the darkness, trying to see where he went.
"Get your fuckin' hands off her," you heard Joel growl, along with the unmistakable sound of knuckles thudding wetly against soft, damaged flesh. You could hear their boots squeaking on the tile as the scuffle continued and you blinked rapidly, trying to make your eyes adjust so you could reach the door and go get help.
The fight must have been louder than you realized because the bathroom door swung open, flooding the room in light from Maria's lantern, with Neil, Dean and Tommy right behind her. You pressed yourself flat against the wall as you tried to not get caught in the fight between the two men, who you could now see were swinging on each other wildly, spinning around the small room, slamming each other into the stalls, and grabbing at each other's shirts, trying to get the upper hand and pull the other down. Joel's fist came in contact with Carter's nose so loudly, you heard the crack of bone and winced. Carter stumbled backwards with a pained cry, crashing into you and causing you to fall to the floor.
You felt a burning in your wrist when you landed as you frantically scrambled between him and the floor, desperately trying to get out of the way. Joel saw his opportunity when Carter fell, clutching his nose. He snatched him up and off you by his collar and hauled him across the room with a grunt. Joel grabbed Carter by the hair and yanked him back, so his face was angled up to the ceiling. Carter looked at Joel manically, desperately squirming on his knees and clawing at Joel's wrists to try to loosen his grip when he realized Joel was about to slam his face into the porcelain sink.
Tommy pushed his way into the room and broke up the two men before Joel had a chance to crush his skull. Carter sat crumpled on the floor, blood pouring from his nose and mouth. He attempted to stand but slipped on his own blood, making him fall back to the floor.
"Alright, Joel, enough," Tommy muttered, his hands pressed firmly on Joel's shoulders, pushing him back against the wall. Joel panted for breath through clenched teeth, his eyes wild as his gaze jumped from Carter to Tommy. As if he suddenly came to his senses and remembered you were still in the room, he pushed Tommy off him and made a beeline towards you, hunched over in the corner of the room.
"You alright, sweetheart? Lemme look at you, c'mon," he said gently as he crouched down, hooking a finger under your chin and pulling it up. You let out a shaky breath as your eyes roamed his face. He had a few cuts under his eye and a bruise forming on his jaw, but apart from his knuckles, he appeared unscathed. His breath caught in his throat when he saw the fear in your eyes, then his gaze dropped to your throat where dark, circular bruises were forming from where Carter pressed his fingertips into your delicate skin. You could see the shift behind his eyes turn from concern to rage, and you reached out to grip his arm tightly before he could start another fight.
"Stay," you whispered, your lip trembling. He sighed and pulled you into his arms, holding you tightly against his chest. You inhaled his scent, a mix of sweat, blood and tree sap, and you felt your pulse slow down a fraction.
"Get him the fuck outta here," Joel growled over his shoulder. At some point, Lucas must have joined the crowd because he entered the room to help Carter up from the floor, allowing him to lean on his shoulder as he ushered him out of the room and down the hall.
"I'll go get Carrie, she can look you both over, patch you up," Maria said, but you stopped her.
"Can I just have a minute?" you whimpered softly, your voice not quite right. Maria nodded and waved Tommy out of the room, closing the door behind them, leaving you and Joel in the quiet, moonlit bathroom.
He leaned back to look at you again, his thumb tracing gently over your cheek. You didn't realize you were crying silent tears until he leaned forward to kiss them away, then let his forehead rest against your own.
"What happened?" he finally asked, his eyes closed with his forehead still pressed against you.
"I had to pee, he cornered me in here, it was dark," you squeaked out. Your head was pounding, and you felt exhausted but there was no way you would be able to fall asleep now.
"Did he touch you?" Joel asked nervously, afraid of the answer. You shook your head quickly, and a sigh of relief slipped past his lips.
"Not like that. Just my throat and he covered my mouth," you told him, wrapping your arms around his neck, trying to get closer. He leaned back against the tile wall and pulled you onto his lap, your face pressed against the side of his neck.
"Shoulda woke me up," he murmured into your hair.
"I know, I'm sorry," you whispered, letting your hands fall from behind his neck to rest gently on his chest.
"Don't be sorry," he replied, his body tense. "Shouldn't have to be this way in the first place."
You pulled your head back and cupped his cheek with your good hand, gently stroking the bruise forming on his jaw. Overcome with a swell of affection, you leaned in and pressed your mouth against his, tugging his lower lip between yours. He moaned softly and opened his mouth, his tongue dipping past your lips until it found its mate, licking into your mouth until he pulled a small whine from your throat.
He broke the kiss and leaned his head back against the wall, his fingers carefully wiping away the last of your tears.
"Thank you," you whispered, and he shook his head.
"Don't gotta thank me," he replied, then sighed as he pushed himself into a standing position. He reached an arm down to help you up off the floor, and that's when you remembered your wrist. You whimpered and yanked it out of his grasp, standing up on your own and rolling your wrist around to test it for damage.
Joel tenderly took your hand in his and turned it around, inspecting it for swelling.
"It's too dark in here, let's go find Carrie, she can take a look at it," he told you, leading you out of the bathroom and back into the lounge.
Carrie sat you both down on a loveseat with her med kit. She tested your wrist and determined it was just a sprain, so she wrapped it up tightly for you before moving to Joel. She was sanitizing the cuts on his knuckles as you both watched Tommy and Maria having a quiet conversation with Dean and Neil across the room. You were trying to tell by their body language what was being said, but it was impossible. Finally, the group broke up and headed back to their respective people.
Joel stood up defensively when Tommy and Maria approached, giving Carrie a quick 'thanks' under his breath. She sat down next to you, eyes wide as she rubbed your back, asking gently if you were okay and if you needed anything. You shook your head and gave her a small smile, then turned so you could listen to what Maria had to say.
"Relax, Joel, it's alright," Maria said, putting a hand out to him. "You don't need to explain. Dean said there's been an incident or two like this back in their town. It was all 'he said, she said', so they couldn't do anything about it."
"So they brought that fucker here?" Joel seethed, clenching his fist.
"They're gonna take care of it when they get back," Tommy assured him. "Won't be a problem in the future. Trades are still on. Kept him around 'cause he's a good shot."
"Christ," Joel mumbled, rubbing his hand over his beard and turning away. Maria kneeled down in front of you and took your hand in hers.
"You okay?" she asked softly, and you nodded. She examined your face closely until she was satisfied that you were being honest, and stood back up.
"They're leaving, obviously," Maria said, gesturing behind her to the group packing up. Carter laid on a couch with his arm draped over his face, clearly in pain.
"Why don't we try to get some sleep so we can get the hell outta here early?" Eugene said from a sofa chair next to you. You all mumbled in agreement, but waited until the other group left, Neil and Dean giving Tommy and Maria a quick handshake before venturing out into the darkness.
Tommy threw a couple more logs on the fire before he settled back into his sleeping bag next to Maria. Silence descended upon the room, but you still struggled to fall back asleep. Adrenaline was still coursing through your veins from the encounter as you tossed and turned in your sleeping bag.
"What's wrong? You hurtin'?" Joel murmured next to you, clearly on the verge of sleep. You sighed and shook your head, even though his eyes were closed.
"No," you whispered, letting out a quiet groan as you repositioned yourself yet again. Joel's eyes popped open at the sound and turned his head to look at you curiously.
"Can't sleep, too wound up," you whispered again. Joel chuckled and you scowled at him.
"What's so funny?"
"Nothin', just thought of somethin', made me laugh," he said, his eyes sliding back closed but the smile still on his face. You poked him in the ribs, and he jumped, eyes snapping back open.
"Tell me," you said, and he sighed.
"I was gonna make a joke, tell you 'I know what'll tire you out', but it seemed like the wrong time," he explained, closing his eyes once again and turning his head back.
You considered it for a moment before responding.
"Okay."
His breathing stopped and his eyes snapped open. He turned his face to the side again, raising his eyebrows at you.
"What?" he asked quietly. You shrugged and smirked.
"I said, 'okay'," you replied just as quietly. His eyes darkened as they flicked down to your lips, then back up again.
"Kitchen," was all he said, his tone deep and voice strained. You slithered out of your sleeping bag and jumped to your feet, trying your best to be quiet and not sprint into the kitchen. You pushed the door open and entered the nearly pitch-black room, noting the only window was a small circle at the top of the door, allowing an orange light from the fire to be the only light in the room. You chewed your nail nervously as you waited for him to join you, pacing around in a small circle, trying to relieve the ache that was growing between your legs.
The door swung open, and you whipped around right as Joel wrapped his arms around you, his mouth latching onto your neck. His beard tickled your skin as he made a trail of kisses all across your throat. It wasn't until he made it to the other side that you realized he had been kissing the bruises left there. You let out a soft moan and tipped your head back, your fingers digging into his arms.
"If we do this, gotta be fast and quiet," he whispered against your mouth before his tongue dove past your lips to tangle with your own.
"Mhmm," you hummed as you reached down to unbutton your jeans. He walked you backwards until you felt the cold stainless steel of the counter behind you. You hopped up to sit on top and bent your head so you could suck on his Adam's apple before you made your way down to his collarbone, which was just peeking out from the top of his shirt.
Joel pulled your jeans the rest of the way off and slid his hands up both your legs before stopping on your hips, squeezing before giving them a quick tug forward. You almost yelped but you covered your mouth at the last minute. Joel gave you a look of warning before he lined you up with the edge of the counter, his fingers sliding underneath the edge of your panties and yanking them off.
He ran his knuckle up and down your slit before his eyes shot up to lock on yours.
"Shit," he whispered, leaning forward to whisper filth into your ear while he inserted a thick finger inside you, followed closely by a second.
"What a good girl, all ready for me," he told you quietly. "How long you been like this, hm?"
"Since you broke his nose," you whispered heavily, spreading your legs wider for him. He paused a moment, clearly not expecting that answer. You squirmed a bit when his fingers stayed still for too long, snapping him out of his thoughts.
"Yeah? That turn you on?" he asked you, and you felt his breath quicken against your neck.
"Yeah," you said quietly, sighing when his fingers expertly found that spot inside you.
"Fuck. Dirty girl," he muttered, earning a gasp from you when he quickly removed his fingers in favor of undoing his belt and shoving his jeans down his thighs. "You liked when I beat that fucker for putting his hands on what's mine?"
You didn't have a chance to answer him because he quickly slid his cock inside you, making you gasp again and slap a hand over your mouth, but you nodded enthusiastically, squeezing your eyes shut.
"So warm," Joel muttered to himself, tipping his head back as he rolled his hips into you slowly, your legs squeezing around his waist. His hands hooked under your knees at his side, his head rolling forward lazily as he watched his cock disappearing inside of you, each time emerging slicker than before.
You began rocking your hips up to meet his in a desperate attempt to increase the pace. He noticed, and given the location and lack of time, chose to give you what you wanted. He snapped his hips harder, grunting quietly each time he bottomed out inside you. You bit down on the fleshy part of your hand, trying to stifle your whines as he pushed you higher and higher towards your orgasm.
He slid his hand from your knee and down your thigh to rest flat on your lower stomach, his thumb brushing against your clit and pulling an audible moan from your mouth. Joel stopped his movements to give you a stern look. He leaned down so his chest was nearly flush with yours, his mouth hovering over your ear.
"Gotta stay quiet, sweetheart. You know I love those sounds but we gotta be careful," he whispered. "Can you do that for me?" You nodded and covered your mouth with your palm again.
He hummed his approval and began rocking his hips into you, his thumb finding your clit and pressing small, firm circles. Your eyes rolled as the pressure built in your lower abdomen. Joel leaned back up so he was standing once again, watching your body jostle up and down underneath him as he fucked into you harder. He felt your walls clench around him and watched as your head tipped back against the stainless steel, your hand still firmly planted over your mouth.
"Tell me you're mine," he said lowly. Your head tilted back down so you could meet his gaze. You removed your hand from your mouth, little gasps escaping from your mouth with each thrust.
"I'm yours, Joel," you said as quietly as you could.
"Again," he said, teeth clenched. Heat creeped up his neck as his orgasm steadily approached, but he held it back until he could hear you respond.
"Y-yours. I'm yours, Joel. Fuck. No one else, only you. Only ever y-you. Shit, I'm close," you whined, clamping your hand over your mouth again to muffle your orgasm.
And then it hit you like a freight train. Your eyes squeezed shut and your body tensed, your cunt fluttered around his cock as the waves washed over you, soft whimpers and moans getting lost in your palm.
"That's my girl," Joel mumbled, pounding into you harder now, desperate to join you. "All mine, huh? This mine?" he asked you, grabbing a handful of your ass and giving it a shake. You nodded and whispered a yes, your hand falling to your side.
"That's right. How 'bout this sweet little pussy? This mine, too?"
"Yes," you whined a little louder than you intended. You opened your eyes and watched him as his gaze traveled up your body, locking eyes with you. You saw a bead of sweat trickle down from his temple as his hips stuttered against you. His hand that was once placed over your stomach slowly traveled up your body, resting over your sternum, right over your pounding heart.
"And this?" he asked, softer now, eyes wide and pleading. You nodded and covered his hand with yours.
"Yes, Joel. All yours." You told him firmly, and with that, he pulled his hips back, groaning quietly as he came all over your stomach, his hot spend dripping down your sides and leaving small, pearly white dots on the countertop.
His eyes lingered on your stomach a moment before he reached down to pull his pants back up. He cleaned you up with a rag he had grabbed before following you into the kitchen, and helped you sit up, being mindful of your sore wrist.
You slid down from the counter and felt around with your foot until you found your discarded clothes. After dressing yourself, you turned around to pull Joel down into a messy, lazy kiss. He leaned back to look at you in the semi-darkness, his hands resting on your waist.
"I'm yours, too, y'know," he said softly. You smiled up at him and ran a finger gently over the bruise blooming on his cheek.
"I know," you whispered, planting a chaste kiss on the corner of his mouth.
He pushed the door open a crack to make sure no one was awake before opening it all the way and leading you back to your sleeping bags.
"That did the trick, thank you," you murmured to him, yawning as your eyes closed, burying your face in your sleeping bag. His arms wrapped around you from behind and he kissed the back of your neck.
"Anytime, sweetheart," he said, his voice muffled by your hair as he held you tightly against his chest.

Family
Warnings: PURE fluff
Word count: 1.9 K
Pairing: Lady Lesso x Fem!Reader
Prompt: Leonora deserves a little love.
Requests: OPEN
[Main masterlist] [Charlize Theron characters masterlist]
Tumblr media
It was known that evil could never have a happy ending.
At least, that is what has been taught for centuries and centuries, from generation to generation. It was unheard of to think that some villain, from any story, would return to a nice cabin with his family, after trying to poison a princess.
Any 'Ever' student could have that same thought about anyone belonging to the 'Never' school, incapable of love. And if the name of the dean of evil slipped into the conversation, the answer was an obvious and resounding NO.
While any human being with two eyes and a few centimeters of a brain could confirm that Lady Lesso is an extremely beautiful woman, they could also classify her as someone 'terrifying'; considering anyone brave who could spend more than five minutes with her, without being scared.
———————————————————————————
The weekend was slowly approaching, which made the redheaded woman extremely excited. She was already sick of her incompetent students, of Dovey's constant complaining, of the thousands upon thousands of papers waiting in her office to be reviewed, causing excruciating headaches.
Everything about to end…
Until Emma reached her office, opening the door a little and sticking her head out.
"Leonora?"
"What do you want?" the woman asked without taking her eyes off the exam in front of her. Anastasia, an incompetent who would fail her class for the second time.
“Clarissa requested your presence at the meeting”
The dean's eyes rolled wearily, making her disappointment known.
"Really? Why do you need my presence with… 30 minutes to go before the end of school hours?"
"I don't know, she didn't give me an explanation…"
Before Emma could begin to ramble, Lesso abruptly stood up from her chair and began to pace, hitting the ground next to Emma with her cane, causing the smaller woman to jump.
Quickly, Leonora walked to the room where the meeting was taking place, opening the doors violently, making her arrival known.
"Oh, Lesso," Dovey interrupted, "it's good that you're here."
Leonora didn't even deign to answer, she simply sat in her usual chair and with the help of her magic, materialized a notebook, to scribble and avoid getting bored.
It took her a few minutes to realize that she had brought into the meeting room the notebook she used for her most private matters. Full of vibrant colors and children's drawings.
With a quick movement, and with the eyes of some of her colleagues glued to the notebook, Leonora opened it, hiding the cover and beginning to draw, not listening to Dovey's chatter.
The meeting lasted forever, almost 3 hours after their usual time to leave; but when Dovey finally called the meeting to a close, Leonora was among the first to rise from her seat, until Dovey's voice reached her ears.
"Actually, Lesso, I need to talk to you."
With a great grunt, Leonora watched as her companions left the room, to be left alone with Dovey.
"What do you want?" asked Leonora tiredly
"Relax, I don't want to entertain you" Dovey turned her back on the redhead to take a small basket full of sweets and baked goods "I remembered that last week was Y/N's birthday, so I thought I'd give she her favorite desserts"
The basket reached Leonora's hands, who awkwardly gave a grimace, which she tried to pass off as a smile.
"Thanks suppose. I'll give it to her"
"All right. So… see you on Monday”
"See you on Monday" and just as the redhead walked back to the exit, Dovey's voice interrupted her again.
"By the way, tell Rose she did a good job." The brunette pointed at Leonora's notebook with her eyes, drawing a grunt from the redhead.
"Whatever"
———————————————————————————
When Leonora had finally reached her house, she was surprised to find all the lights on; Normally, when she arrived at this time, the only light that was on was the one in the living room, where Y/N was reading a book.
Wearily she opened the door and stepped inside, letting the homey warmth and the smell of the oven reach her face.
The redhead didn't even have to make her arrival home known, to hear those little footsteps on the wood.
"Mom!"
Little Rose ran down the stairs, laughing, until she reached the open arms of the redhead, who quickly picked her up, thanking everyone for how small the girl was.
"Hello little monster"
From the back of the kitchen, the Dean's green eyes collided with Y/N's, causing the latter to show a beautiful smile, seeing the two girls together.
"You're late" Y/N joked
"Go to your room, beast, mommy and I have to talk"
The little girl quickly climbed back up, making the redheaded woman walk until her back was to her wife and hugging her hips.
“Blame it on Dovey” Y/N laughed as she took the food out of the oven “I'm serious Y/N, if I hear another 'Ever' complain again, I'm going to have to cut my ears off.”
“Relax, the good thing is that you are home now, and dinner is ready. Go call Rose, and set the table."
———————————————————————————
Dinner was one of Leonora's favorite moments. The feeling of warmth, the delicious food, Y/N's voice along with Rose's giggles and games made her cold heart feel what the warmth of a true home is.
“Today I saw my friend Erick”
Until that wretch's name left Rose's little lips.
The story was very long and very exhausting to tell, but to summarize. Y/N had graduated as a great 'Ever', giving her first kiss to a handsome and gallant prince named Erick. As a good 'Ever', it only took her a few months to commit to the man. But when the man found out that a baby was on the way, he didn't hesitate for a second to abandon the woman with the baby.
Leonora met her almost two years later, while she was on an emergency trip through a town near the school.
She doesn't even remember what made her fall: Y/N's shy look or little baby Rose's babbling.
How had the jerk come to contact his women? Leonora had no idea, but she tried not to get into the subject. She just enjoyed the little girl.
"Really? And did you have a good time?" asked the redhead, seeing how everyone finished dinner, so she got up and took the dishes to wash them.
"Yes. But… I missed you, mom. I like hanging out with him, but I miss when you and I go out to play."
Yes, Leonora could confirm that Rose was one of the few people who could make her believe that she still has a heart.
"Oh honey" Y/N interrupted her by kissing the girl's head "the good thing is that mom is going on vacation, and they can go out to the field every day, to play"
"Don't forget Lily" commented the redhead causing both women to laugh
"Sure, let's not forget Lily"
The baby's cry began to sound, warning that he had woken up.
“Talking about the queen of Rome”
"Come Rose, let's go for her"
———————————————————————————
"Are you ready to sleep?" Leonora asked as she tucked in the little girl, who was already beginning to yawn and rub her eyes.
"Yep"
"You stayed up very late today, little naughty" the redhead stroked her hair, trying to make her fall asleep even faster.
"I told mommy I wanted to wait for you"
"I know baby, thanks for waiting for me" the older woman planted a kiss on the girl's forehead.
"I love you so much mom"
"I love you too"
"Tell Lily and Mommy I love them too."
"They love you too, monster"
The girl quickly fell asleep, for which Leonora got up leaving the room, closing the door, to enter her own room, finding her wife and the little baby playing on the bed.
"You don't seem like she want to fall asleep anytime soon, do you?"
"She just wanted to see her mom"
Small emerald eyes met those of the taller woman, eliciting little squeals from the baby.
"Hello, little fairy"
Admitting that little Lily had come into this world thanks to Dovey's kindness and care (and magic), it was very difficult for the redhead to show her gratitude, so she decided that calling the baby 'fairy' was more than enough.
Out of the corner of her eye, the redhead could see how her wife was beginning to yawn, already very tired, and apparently, baby Lily had enough energy to keep her awake for a few more hours.
"My love, go to sleep, I'll take care of Lily" the woman murmured as she snatched the girl from her arms.
"No, I can…"
Leonora interrupted her wife's protests by planting a kiss on her lips and on her nose.
"Honey, you've already done a lot here, let me take care of my girls."
The woman soon fell asleep, so it was Leonora's job to play with the little girl to tire her out.
"Hey, beast, you have to shut your mouth, you're going to wake up mommy and your little sister"
The girl ignored it and tried again to stick her finger in her mother's nose, while she burst out laughing.
As much as she wanted to deny it, her heart vibrated every time she heard her youngest daughter's little laughs, as well as her oldest daughter's voice, and without a doubt, Y/N's kisses only put the garland on the cake.
Some time later, the baby was finally able to fall asleep, so the redhead quickly tucked the girl into her little crib and lay down on her own bed, but in the process, she woke up Y/N.
"Hmm, are the girls asleep yet?"
"Yes, sorry for waking you up"
"Don't worry, let's go to sleep"
A silence settled in the room, but still, Y/N could tell that her wife wasn't asleep.
"Leo, what's up?"
"Do you think… that they hate me?"
"What?"
"Girls, do you think they'll hate me when they find out I'm the dean of evil?"
Y/N got up so he could look at her wife's glassy eyes.
“My love, of course they won't hate you, you're their mother” Y/N began to caress Leonora's face, to keep her eyes from leaving her “You're their favorite person in the world, they love you. We love you, we know that you are not a bad woman. Even if you don't believe it yourself, we know you have a heart; that you feel, that you deserve affection, love. Nobody is completely good or bad, you are not black, nor am I white, we are both gray scales, and they will be able to see that "
The redhead gave her wife a smile and a kiss on the chin
"You know, I'm starting to think that I married you because you always know what to say."
Y/N started laughing as she planted kisses all over her wife's face.
"Admit it, you married me because you love me"
Both women lay back down, ready to go to sleep. Leonora embracing her wife's body from behind, planting kisses on the woman's bare shoulders.
"I love them, so much" confessed the redhead already half asleep
“Your family loves you twice as much”
Because it was known that evil could never have a happy ending.
But, no one is completely good, nor completely bad, and despite that, we all deserve a little love.
Leonora deserves a little love.

Summary: Your roommate drags you to an art opening and It'll turn out to be such an interesting night that will leave you dreaming of brown eyes.
Words: 1721
Warnings: This is a slow burn, you've been warned!; a lot of talking about Art and PhD life; Reader is not Grogu's nanny but this is very Grogucentric if that makes sense; And Reader is Din's employee too; Very grumpy and antisocial Mando; Grogu is human but the only thing described are his eyes; Reader appearance is left blank; Age gap of 10-15 years; Fluff fluff fluff
A/N: Hi! I'm sorry for taking forever to upload this after so much teasing! Everything was practically written until Chapter 4, but last month has been a disaster. Hopefully, I'll be able to be back at it now. Anyway, I hope you enjoy Reader and Din meeting with a very Pride and Prejudice vibe.
Tumblr media
When you arrived, the place was cramped. Everyone fancied free drinks on a Friday night at Navarro’s downtown, but this was… excessive for an art opening. After the awful day you’d had, you didn’t feel like squeezing yourself between strangers. You were just about to say to your roommate that you had thought better about it when you saw the poster in the window display of the local.
The Guild Gallery presents:
Mando
The Master of Beskar
15 unprecedented sculptures
Your jaw dropped immediately to the floor. You were so excited you had to grab your roommate’s arm to calm down.
“What’s the matter, sweetie?”
“You just dragged me to an exhibition of my favourite artist ever without knowing?” You were over the moon right now, Mando wasn’t an artist who used social media so it was never easy to come up with his next show. It was all part of the mysterious aura that was around him.
“Rumors say he is based in Nevarro.” One of your roommate’s friends severed, and your eyes sparkled in awestruck.
“Do you think he may come?” You were dying to ask him some questions, maybe even you could arrange an interview with him for your thesis work…
“He never shows up in his own exhibits, so I don’t think he will.” You were a bit disappointed, but it was the truth. No one knew his real name or face, only the generic pseudonym, and his breathtaking sculptures.
“Do you think he makes it in an entitled prick way? Like, to feed the mystery or something and sell more?” You looked at the boy furiously. You obviously didn’t know Mando personally, but you had extensively studied his artwork and could affirm you knew a bit about the psyche that hid behind his artwork.
“What if he’s just shy, or he doesn’t like the attention?” Your mental picture of Mando was the one of a person who struggled severely with emotion and used his sculpture as the only possible outcome. That was one of the reasons why his art moved you so deeply.
Your interlocutor didn’t have the opportunity to respond since it was your turn to enter the gallery. It was luxurious but not tacky, with a minimal interior design that gave the artwork the space to shine. You were mesmerized. Soon you grew apart from the group because they were more interested in the free booze while you admired each one of the pieces. Grabbing your tiny notebook from your purse, you annotated everything about the sculptures that resonated de most with you.
“Breathtaking, aren’t they?” A well-dressed, middle-aged man was standing next to you. He had an air of dignity in him, but also a pinch of mischief in his eyes that delatated his true character.
“They’re stunning.” You mumbled admiring the hard planes of the sculpture that was standing right in front of you. The same you had been observing for twenty minutes straight: a faceless warrior in a startling fighting pose.
“Mando always finds a way to surprise us.” Then, he extended his hand to you and you squeezed it gently. “Greef Karga, I’m the owner.” He clarified while shaking vigorously your smaller hand. You blushed violently, maybe he had mistaken your interest for being a potential customer? Nevertheless, you offered him a smile and your name too, always wanting to be polite.
“I’m actually a researcher on Mandalorian art, and I’ve been following Mando’s career for a while.”
“You’re talking to the man who sold his first artwork, sunshine.” He confessed as if he was telling you a secret. The desired effect was accomplished and your eyes were opened wide.
“Really? That’s…that’s…” Your words were betraying you and the man only smiled wider. Then you started a battle with your purse to find the wallet. “I…know he does like to keep his…privacy, but if he is ever interested in an interview I’ll…it will be really meaningful to my research.” You blurted giving him your business card. He observed it and repeated your name to himself.
“I’ll let him know darling.” He then put a friendly hand on your shoulder as a farewell when something heavy touched your foot, making you flinch. You looked to the floor: a metal ball had hit your foot. Looking confused at your surroundings, you crouched to grab the round object when its owner appeared.
“Oh hi, baby!” You cooed, your face brightening when your eyes found the tiny face of a toddler. “Is this yours?” They approached you a bit shyly, looking at you and the ball, as if weighing their options. The baby stared at you, blinking a few times, until they bent clumsily to grab it.
“Patu!” The little one said showing triumphantly the shiny object. The corner of your eyes squinted of the pure tenderness this creature provoked in you.
“Grogu, my little man!” Karaga called, to your surprise. You had to admit: you had forgotten about him for a little moment, but it was great that they knew each other. The toddler squeaked in delight, running to the man’s leg. He certainly looked amused with the encounter, so they were probably close-
“Ah!” The boy babbled cheerfully to you both, showing off his treasure again, and then started patting Karga’s leg.
“Your dad hasn’t got you dinner? Come here, let me grab you a sandwich.” The toddler sounded excited and made grabby hands to the older man to be picked up. Your eyes met with his as he observed you with curiosity. They were dark and huge, almost too big for the kid’s face. You gave him your brightest smile and he did the same in return.
“He looks sharp as a tack!” You praised, giggling a bit.
“You wouldn’t imagine.”
Both of you laughed together as Grogu started to explain something in incoherent baby language.
“Oh, so you are enjoying the Art Exhibition too? What’s your favourite piece? I see…” You pretended to understand his excited gestures as Karga started to walk to the catering table. “It’s clear you’re such a connoisseur, sir.”
“Could you hold him a moment? I’m making him a sandwich.” Karga’s question took you off-guard, but he didn’t wait for an answer as he placed the toddler in your chest Both of you studied each other's eyes for a moment. You could count the times you had held a little one with the fingers of a hand. But finally, he looked satisfied after scanning your face and squeaked happily, starting playing with your hair and jewellery, even mapping your cheeks and nose with his tiny hands. A warm feeling ignited inside your chest as you replied sweet nothings to his babbling.
“Grogu! Here you are!”
The three of you looked in the direction of the baritone voice who had just called the baby. Between the multitude, appeared a man who stood up amongst everyone. Though he was dressing casually, in full denim, his handsome face and broadness were so obvious. Your mouth went dry. Not only his physical appearance but his gait and the way he carried himself. You weren’t used to meeting men like that. He was borderline intimidating. His scowl while looking at the baby didn’t help with that. Was he angry that a stranger held the boy?
“Din! Good to see you, I thought your son would be hungry.” The gorgeous man huffed in response, looking at the sandwich Greef Karga had just prepared.
“The little womp-rat is always hungry,” he mumbled and started caressing the boy’s head, and the baby giggled. “I asked you to stay there.” He scolded, but the toddler just looked happy to see him again. Din sighed in resignation and finally, it looked like he noticed your presence for the first time. While you still had Grogu between your arms, he stared at you without a word, like you were a sculpture and not a person. You observed him back without shame and he tilted his head slightly while studying you. He looked stiff as a board and didn’t stop frowning all the time.
Weird.
Luckily, Karga spoke after the strange silence between you became too tense.
“Din, this is…” Karga started introducing you after clearing his throat,  but then the little boy interrupted by babbling at you while offering you his ball.
“You want to play baby?” You asked, but you could see his handsome dad pinch his nose. It wasn’t the moment to annoy this stranger who didn’t seem to like you. “Later, ok? First, be a good boy and have dinner.” Your soft voice reminded him of the prospect of food, and now he was twisting in your arms. You let go of him and the toddler ran immediately to grab Din’s calf. The man looked exhausted and 100% like he didn’t want to be there. But when he put the little one between his strong arms his face lightened up in a way that made your heart skip a beat. Without a word, he left towards the catering table. Before getting lost between the multitude, Grogu’s head popped behind Din’s toned shoulder and he waved at you. You needed a moment to recover, having melted like ice cream from the cuteness of the gesture.
What a pair.
“I’m sorry sweetheart, Din can be a little rude sometimes.” You shook your head dismissively in response when Karga excused his friend, even though a little rude was a polite way to say it.
“Don’t worry sir, the baby was so adorable I didn’t notice.” You then offered your best smile before departing. “I leave you to attend the other visitors, it’s been a pleasure.”
Later in your shared dorm, you’d think a lot about the pair you had met. Such a friendly toddler and his dad? He was so attractive and manly you felt dizzy, but he had been so rude to you. What was the problem with him? He looked like he instantly disliked you. Maybe it was your cologne? Was it your outfit? Turning in your narrow mattress, you said to yourself you had more pressing matters to attend to, like how the hell you were going to pay for the semester after your scholarship had been denied. You sighed and closed your eyes, and you dreamt with broad shoulders and bright huge eyes.

So, since not much is said about the many scenarios that can be created regarding the Isekai! TMNT turtle guys, I'll throw out a somewhat incomplete scenario I wrote in a hurry.
"oh, hello! Welcome" I said happily as I watched some new "faces" enter my little coffee shop.
"You four are new around here? I've never seen you guys in town before" I said cocking my head slightly to the side, observing the four figures draped in super baggy clothes.
«Not everyone likes to wear clothes in their size» I reminded myself.
I could tell as one of the four figures shivered slightly at the sound of my voice.
I quickly dismissed that, thinking maybe I was a little nervous about the fact that I told them that so lightly.
"Well, would you like to order something?" I said quickly taking my small notebook from the pocket of my work uniform, ready to write down the orders of the four figures in front of me.
"Uhh..." The tallest and stoutest figure said, a little shyly.
"I'll have a loaded black coffee and also a waffle, please" interrupted another figure, which was on the right side of the tallest figure.
Nodding at what he said, I quickly took note of what he asked.
"Oh oh! I'll have a vanilla coffee, with a Beagle, and some strawberries, please" said another of the four, who was about the same height as the person who had previously spoken to me.
I nodded again, as I wrote his order in my notebook.
"And you? What are you going to order?" I said offering a small smile to the smaller figure of the four.
"One strawberry juice, and two chocolate Donuts, please!" he answered me excitedly as he practically pranced in place the hooded person.
I jotted down his order in my notebook with a small smile at his enthusiasm.
Glancing at the tallest man of the four, I looked at him spectatorially.
"Oh, Uhh, I guess I.... I'm going to order an apple juice and a, uh.... Brownie?.." he said to me uncertainly.
I looked at him with a soft smile, trying to make him feel more comfortable.
Noting their order, I led them to an unoccupied table, which was right next to the large window of my little cafeteria, and told them I would deliver their order shortly.
As I walked in the direction of the cafeteria kitchen, I heard one of them say in a whisper:
"It's a little weird to see this place in detail, the game ultimately doesn't do justice to the beauty of the place."
Oh, how... Interesting were those words.
Once I was in the kitchen, I prepared the orders for those four people, and made my way to their table with their orders on a tray.
"Sorry for the delay, here are your orders guys" I said leaving in front of each of them what they had ordered.
"No... Don't worry about it, and thank you" one of them said a little uncomfortably.
With a nod, I walked away from their table and went to serve other customers.
Minutes later, a boy walked into my coffee shop, the "explorer" , as those of us in town used to call him by way of endearment.
"Hey, “scout”, come looking for another mission?" I said smiling as I approached the boy quietly.
The boy nodded in response, and, after talking a bit, I gave him an errand, or rather, a "mission," as he liked to say.
Once our conversation was over, I went to the table where these four... Particular people, since they had called me.
"Is something wrong?" I ask.
"No, nothing, we just wanted to know? How long has that guy been coming to do these... errands?" the tallest person of the four figures seated around the table asked me shyly.
"Hmm... I think since about... About four weeks ago, why?" I answered truthfully.
"Oh, no reason! We were just curious to know!" I was quickly answered by the smallest person of the four.
With a nod, I went back to my work serving customers and delivering orders.
★~~~~~~~★ ★~~~~~~~★ ★~~~~~~~★
"Huh, four weeks?...how interesting" Donatello said with a somber look on his face as he watched MC attend to the customers in the cafeteria with a smile and deliver orders with the help of two other people who were they coworkers in the cafeteria.
Next to Donatello, Leonardo let out a snort with irritation.
"Do we have any idea of the exact moment in the video game where we are?" asked Raphael as he looked out of the corner of his eye at MC, who was laughing at a joke that had been said by one of the people who was currently serving.
The sound of their laughter made the hearts of all four mutants go pitter-patter, entertained by the front row view they had to be able to watch MC wipe away a tear of laughter as a smile graced his face.
"If I'm not mistaken, we're a little past the middle of the video game, just when the player has to leave town for a while..." Donatello said as he discreetly pressed a few buttons on the device placed on his arm, revealing a hologram.
"You know what that means..." said Leonardo as the four brothers looked at each other seriously.
"MC will already be dead as soon as the player returns" said the four in unison in a very low whisper.
They didn't want any of the "extras" or "people" inside the cafeteria to hear this, as that could generate unnecessary chaos, and could alter the course of history.
They needed to act, and fast.
"You know the plan" Raphael said, as he looked at the other three.
In response, they nodded at his words, the plan was very simple.
Take MC to their universe as soon as possible so as to avoid they death.
They would avoid the death of their favorite character, and incidentally, they could stay with this one, fulfilling their fantasies and the promises they made to themselves if they ever had the chance to be able to be with their beloved in person.
They would kill two birds with one stone.
"I can't wait to take our beloved with us to our universe!" Miguel Angel said excitedly.

Pages of Promise, We'll meet again
Chapter 1
Tumblr media
Summary: You have always itched for adventure and when an interesting vessel appears you take your chance and jump aboard. Now the Straw hat pirates present an offer you can't refuse but before you take them up on it you first need to speak to your grumpy captain.
Trafalgar Law x reader
---
Law's initial assumption was that your boundless energy and lack of boundaries would be a constant annoyance, but since you have been aboard he learned how wrong his assumption was. Yes, you were a handful with your knack for finding trouble, and extricating you often became Law's personal headache. But he'd come to appreciate that side of you too. When you weren't excitedly soaking up new information or peppering the crew with questions for your ever-growing log, you were a surprisingly calm person.
For a good part of each day, you'd disappear, engrossed in recording the Heart Pirates' adventures. Your passion seeped through the pages of your beautifully illustrated log, showcasing your love and thoughtfulness for the crew.
It wasn't until he saw you gazing at the Straw Hat captain with the same unwavering determination you'd had when you first boarded the Polar Tang that Law realized what he'd taken for granted.
The Straw Hats each have their own fascinating stories and ambitious dreams and you listen in awe. You scribbled furiously in your smaller travel notebook, capturing their every word so you could later transfer it to your larger masterpiece. Your pen barely kept pace with the torrent of tales they poured out.
Law's frown deepened as your eyes glowed with a familiar spark. Sure he didn't want you on his crew at first but he'd grown attached to you, and so had the rest of the crew. From your cheerful good mornings, while whipping up breakfast to your one-on-one sessions with each crew member to write their stories, you have become an indispensable part of their lives.
But what Law appreciated most was your silent companionship. He'd often find you tucked away in a quiet corner, diligently writing and sketching while he read a medical book, the rhythmic sounds of the waves serving as a lullaby.
His heart tightened when the Straw Hat captain finally reached his boiling point. He bounded over to you, his declaration echoing across the decks, "Y/N! We go on crazy adventures every day and someday I'll be King of the Pirates! If you want to write about a legendary crew, you should join ours!"
Law's gaze darted between you and the captain, his knuckles turning white as he gripped his sword hilt.
Luffy grabbed your shoulders in a playful chokehold. "Every legend needs a chronicler! What do you say, Torao?! Can Y/N join my crew?!"
All eyes turned to Law, the air thick with anticipation. The smile that had bloomed on your face faltered. You'd been so caught up in the Straw Hats' infectious energy that you'd completely forgotten about your crew.
His jaw clenched, and his grip on his sword tightened further. "I don't control them,"
Luffy jumped up in excitement grabbing onto your shoulders and cheering for his new crew members. The others also joined in celebration making you feel welcomed and warm compared to Law's cold glare. You pulled yourself out of the straw hat's grip and bowed your head, guilt gnawing at you. "I'm so sorry, Straw Hat-ya, but… would you allow me some time to think about this?"
Luffy's infectious grin faltered slightly, but he nodded. "Yeah, but don't keep me waiting too long!" He quickly bounced back to his usual cheer, rejoining the festivities.
You felt a pang of longing as you turned away from the vibrant scene, seeking solace with your captain. Sitting awkwardly next to him, you struggled to find the words. Law finally sighed, the tension slowly draining from his shoulders. "You should join them," he muttered, surprising you.
Your head snapped up, eyes wide. "But what about the Heart Pirates?"
Law pulled off his hat and ran a hand through his hair, his gaze fixed on the horizon. "I already reached my goal. Doflamingo was defeated. I don't know what the world has in store for us next, but I do know whatever the Straw Hats' will be doing, it will be far more interesting. Your dream is to write about the new era, and I played my part. The Straw Hat captain… he isn't done."
You were frozen, your mind racing. "But Captain…"
Law stood up, cutting you off. "Just go join them." He turned away, his voice thick with emotion. He stormed away to the Polar Tang slamming the hatch shut behind him.
Just as Law disappeared in the tang a whistle pierced the air. Turning, you saw Shachi, Penguin, and Bepo approaching, their faces etched with concern.
"He seems mad," Shachi commented, plopping down on a nearby crate.
"You aren't really going to join the Straw Hats, are you?" Bepo asked, his voice trembling.
You shook your head placing it in your hand "I don't know."
Penguin shrugged. "Maybe you should join them. You're almost finished with your book on us, and the Straw Hats are going to need someone like you to tell their stories."
Bepo scowled. "But she's a part of our crew!"
Penguin sighed. "Look, Bepo, she has a dream too. Documenting the new era, the Straw Hats are definitely going to be leaders in that. It doesn't mean she doesn't care about us."
"But what about our Captain? Or do you not think he can become King of the Pirates?" Shachi interjected, glaring at Penguin.
Penguin flinched. "No, it's just… you saw them. Besides, Captain said it himself."
"But Y/N joined our crew first, doesn't that count for something?" Bepo whined.
"I just mean Y/N has served her purpose with our crew joining the straw hats would be the best for her." Penguin countered, his voice firm.
The conversation devolved into a heated debate, leaving you feeling even more overwhelmed. You excused yourself and retreated to your favorite porthole, the one offering the best view of the open sea. As you approached you found another figure leaning against your window staring off at the sea.
You smirked slowing your approach and dancing toward your grumpy captain "Anything interesting out there?" You sang leaning into his view.
Law jumped at your appearance but relaxed when he realized it was you and leaned his back onto the wall. "Nothing new." He sighed rubbing the back of his neck, "I'm sorry for being brash earlier."
You crossed your arms and smirked playfully, "You were?"
He chuckled softly, shaking his head. "But I was being sincere earlier. I think you should join the Straw Hats. But…"
"But?" you urged, your heart pounding.
He looked away, his voice quieter. "But we'll miss you."
A warm smile spread across your face. "Awe, did I finally grow on you, grumpy Captain?"
He scoffed playfully turning to his side and looking back out the porthole, "You did a while ago." He admitted.
His comment took you off guard, "What is that supposed to mean?"
Law sighed, "You might have been a little much at first but I have grown to enjoy your presence and passion."
You tilted your head, studying him curiously. "Enjoy?" Your tone was laced with surprise, "The entire time I have been aboard you have been so pouty."
He scoffed, "I have not been pouty." You gave him a knowing look causing him to roll his eyes, "Fine I might have been a little pouty but that's just because I didn't know how to feel about you."
"Feel about me? Captain, do you like me?" You playfully teased.
Law's cheeks turned a faint pink. "Forget I said anything!" He pushed himself away from the wall and started to walk off.
"Wait!" you called out, reaching out to grab his arm. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to tease. Please."
He turned back, his gaze meeting yours. His eyes softened, and for a fleeting moment, you saw a vulnerability you hadn't noticed before.
"Y/N," he began, his voice low and husky. "When you first boarded the ship, you were full of this chaotic energy, but there was another side to you that I learned to appreciate. You care so much about the crew and documenting every adventure." He reached the wall again and sat down, "The first time I saw you here, drawing and writing your stories…"
"Our stories," You interrupted with a chuckle, joining him on the wall.
Law smiled faintly. "Yes, our stories. I didn't think you had it in you to be so focused. It was… nice to hear your pen scratching against your sketchbook as I read my medical books. I think that's when I started having conflicting feelings for you."
You felt a blush creep up your neck. You hadn't expected such a confession. "Why didn't you say anything sooner?"
Law shrugged, a hint of frustration in his voice. "It's not like I could act on it. I'm your captain and there was so much that needed to be done. And if you don't feel the same it would backfire more on me."
Hesitantly, you admitted, "I would be lying if I said I didn't feel the same way. I never imagined you could feel the same." You pause looking softly at him, "So what now?"
Law sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Now you join the Straw Hats and complete your dream. Then, hopefully, one day our paths will cross again."
The thought of leaving Law and the Heart Pirates ached, but you understood his reasoning. "But what if I don't want to join the Straw Hats?"
Law raised an eyebrow, surprised. "I saw how you were looking at them, how you blended in with them."
You bit your lip. "They're constantly getting into trouble, and I don't think I'm strong enough for that."
"They'll protect you," Law reassured you.
"Just like you have?" you asked.
"No." Law averted his gaze, a wry smile playing on his lips. "With me, it was different. I pulled you out of trouble. With them, it'll be different. They'll pull you into trouble, they'll challenge you, push you to your limits, but they'll also have your back."
"But I like things the way they are here. With you," you confessed, a pout forming on your lips.
Law grabbed your chin pulling you to look at him before he pulled you into a kiss. You were taken by surprise at first but his soft lip calmed your nerves as he deepened the kiss.
When he pulled away, his eyes held a mixture of sadness and determination. "Y/N," he said in a voice rough with emotion, "go chase your dream, and when you do, we'll meet again."
He stood up abruptly and disappeared down the hall, leaving you staring after him in a daze.
Taking a deep breath, you knew what you had to do. You grabbed your bag and made your way to the library. There, in the quiet solitude, you began writing the final chapter of your time with the Heart Pirates.
With a heavy heart but a burning determination, you finished the entry, pouring your love and gratitude for your experience onto the pages. Closing the book, you turned to the empty one – the one that would chronicle the adventures of the Straw Hat Pirates. You place the new empty book into your bag leaving the completed version of the Heart Pirates book on the table for everyone on the crew to read.
With your bag full and a new empty book, you walked out of the polar tang. Outside the party, the two ships have started to die down and many lay asleep on the ground. Your eyes darted across the dock for your captain but he was nowhere in sight, before you could turn around in search of him you felt a rubbery hand wrap around your waist.
"Y/N! I see your bags are packed! Did you make a decision?" A bubby captain pulled you off the deck of the Tang and onto the deck of the Sunny.
Your feet wobble as you try to brace your new bearings. You scratch your head, "Yeah I think I did but I was hoping I could say goodbye to Law first."
"No need." Robin appeared at your side, holding a folded piece of paper. "He stopped by earlier and left you a note."
You took the paper, your heart pounding. Written on the paper in handwriting that could only be written by a doctor said, "We'll meet again."
"Hey, we should probably get going soon if we want to make it to the next island by tomorrow!" Nami shouted from above you cutting off your thoughts.
"Alright then, let's set sail!" Luffy declared, his voice brimming with infectious energy.
And with that, the Sunny pulled away from the dock and the Heart Pirates, charting a course towards a new adventure. You stood at the railing, the wind whipping through your hair, your notebook clutched tightly in your hands. The future stretched before you, an open book waiting to be filled with the stories of the Straw Hat Pirates, and perhaps, someday, a reunion with a certain grumpy doctor. A smile bloomed on your face – the adventure had just begun.

(part 1)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Every day. On the third floor, he sat at the same spot. With a new book every other day or every other four days. His long, wavy, long hair was parted in the middle. She wondered what his hair would look like if it weren't parted in the middle.
[y/n] wondered if he knew she'd sometimes stare at him, especially whenever his loud friends came around. Those were the only times she'd see him smile, and he had a pretty smile. She liked his smile a lot, along with his little laugh.
She promised she was there to do her homework; she wasn't expecting to be some library stalker. She certainly hoped he didn't think she was as well. There were plenty of times when she thought of introducing herself to him, but she could not bring herself to do so.
He smelt nice; his cologne was probably ysl "y le parfum" considering it was the same cologne her brother wore. Today he wore a red flannel with a black tank top; his jeans were ripped towards the knees, and he had his signature black low-top vans.
He, on the other hand, noticed the woman staring at him. He thought it was pretty cute. Sometimes, Sabo would stare back at her, giving her a slight grin. The blonde male was not sure if he should go up and introduce himself to her. He knew she would not make the first move, so it was up to him.
Tumblr media
[y/n] thought today would be the same as always when she entered the library. Little did she know that she would be wrong. What was he doing sitting at the table she sat at? Should she sit somewhere else? Should she sit there? She did not know what to do. She had five seconds to decide, and it came in a blink of an eye.
She slowly sat in the chair across from him, staring at the floor. She couldn't stare at him, or else she'd feel hot.
"Hello," his voice was soft and a bit deep.
"Hi," she lowly spoke, trying not to stare at her.
"I'm Sabo," he placed his book on the table.
"[y/n]..." she slowly looked up from her book.
"I hope it's okay that I sit here?" what was he talking about? he was already sitting here.
"You're already sittin' here..." she raised an eyebrow at him.
"I meant sitting here every day, with you... Maybe getting to know you?" he had to be joking. There was no way that he meant that.
"If you want to... Only because I have a feelin' that even if I told you no, you'd still sit here," and she was right.
"It was like you read my mind, how'd you know?" he chuckled, causing her to shrug.
"Have you always been starin' at me?" he added. Her eyes went wide as she began to cough.
"W-what are you talkin' about?" she stammered, trying to play it off.
"I've noticed you staring at me a couple of times. I'm not mad, honestly, I think it's cute," he smiled, staring at her.
"Oh God..." she felt embarrassed, but he couldn't stop laughing.
He indeed found humor in this situation right now. [y/n] could not help but bury her face back into her book. This embarrassment could not leave her body. Sabo, on the other hand, liked this and he liked her. It wasn't every day that you had a secret admirer, especially one that was beautiful.
"But it's okay because I like it. Which is why I mentioned it," she could not lie, his smile was beautiful.
"Whatever," she huffed, keeping her eyes away from his.
He couldn't help but chuckle once more. She was cute, and her being shy made her irresistible.
"I came here to get my work done, and I haven't got the chance to do so because you're distractin' me," she added with a bit of sass.
"So why'd you pull a book out instead?" he raised a brow.
"Because it was easier and smaller to use,"
"Fine, I'll let you do your work, and I will go back to reading my book. Does that sound good?" it honestly did not matter to her as long as she got her work done, she did not care.
His face was partially covered by the book while she grabbed her notebook and iPad out of her bag. This wouldn't take her long, but she still did not feel like completing it.
While she did her work, Sabo finished his book. He did not want to leave her by herself even though she'd probably be fine, so he went to find a new book to read. Finding a new book would not be a problem for him since he was willing to read anything and it would not take him long to read.
After a while, she let a small sigh out. She closed her notebook, and placed the iPad back in her bag. He actually stayed with her? This was a bit of a surprise. Usually he leaves around this timeframe.
"Oh you're finished? We should get lunch, I'm hungry," he smiled while she just shook her head no.
"C'mon, you'll be fine," and another sigh left her lips.
"Fine," she got up with her bag and phone, and followed him out of the library. She was in for a surprise.

Yesterday I spent most of my day reading and it was great. Today didn't start as planned tho. It has snowed from yesterday afternoon to today's late morning, and I was so afraid the bus would cause problems (because they do when the weather is fine, so snow for them is a big deal) I skipped class. I decided to avoid commuting for a two hour lecture and the risk of being stuck in the city. I still woke up at 4:45, because of course it was a last minute decision, so I didn't even get the real benefits of skipping class. I did get some studying done of course. As for how I am feeling, it's definitely slowly going better, I am still not at my best, but I want to be grateful of all small emprovements. At the end of the week I will have my monthly therapy session, and I am very much looking forward to that. On a completly different topic I have almost filled it the journal I am currently using for daily entries, which is making me really excited, because it means I will get to buy new notebook! I am doing my best to stay excited for small things, so here it is a small thing that I look forward to. I might go on the hunt for it tomorrow, I don't know yet, and I don't know yet what type of notebook I am looking for, I think I'll just get the one that calls to me the most.
Productivity:
Posted this updated of the 2023 genre bingo
Did a bit of planning of uni materials I have to study for the classes I am taking at the moment (I just wrote everything down on my bullet journal so I can see everything all at once and break it into smaller steps, this way I have an overview of what I have to do and what I have done already)
Started reading and annotating the second set of protohistory notes provided by the professor (for some reason I am working very slowly on them, I don't know if it's me still being quite tired or just the process of working on those specific notes)
Started reading and annotating the first book I have to study for my history of libraries and reading class
Practiced Irish on duolingo
Continued reading Harrow The Ninth (my brain is melted by this book, I am stuggling to put it down when I read it because I need to know more)
Self care:
Read in the morning
Drank lots of water, and probably even more tea
Journaled
Face scrub
📖: Harrow The Ninth by Tamsyn Muir, How We Read Now by Naomi S. Baron

Had another random thought and wrote it in my notebook. Thought I could type it out and share. So here it goes! Yet another take on Jason and Lazarus pits while in a Danny Phantom crossover.
Alright so I imagine that when Jason first climbed out his grave he was kinda like a baby ghost. I think of like sentient Gotham being depressed that their little Robin was gone and was like: no! I'll bring him back!
So Gotham pulled like a miniature scale of what happened to Danny to Jason. So like he's not a ghost or a normal human but not quite a halfa. (He's like a quarta lmao)
OK, so he climbs out and is little baby. His core is still developing and getting synchronized with his physical self. Unlike Danny, Jason doesn't have that extra oomph of power to just power through it. So he's a bit... distant in his own head. But that will fix itself out soon!
Or it would've if he hadn’t been dunked in the Lazarus pit.
In my own wishy washy scientificish explanation, I think of ectoplasm having an almost earwax type relationship with the core. It's like wax around the core, keeping toxins out to properly filter ectoplasm through the body. Only problem is that if there is too much ectoplasm around the core it can prevent proper ventilation.
The laz pit made a thick layer over Jasons still developing core, preventing him from recycling the ectoplasm he has.
I'd imagine without a cleaning process the ectoplasm would just get real gross. The effects of the impure ectoplasm would create symptoms such as:
Emotional disregulation
Headaches and fatigue
Slower healing (at least in ghost standards. It still looks normal to a non metahuman)
Unstable core attachments (the inability to properly claim people as friends or family.)
So now Jason isn't malnourished in the human sense but in a ghostly way. Dodged one bullet right into another. The malnourishment from the early effects on his core leads him to have a smaller, weaker, core. He can't use basic ghost powers because it's a ton more strenuous for him than it would for a normal ghost. He also needs more ectoplasm to sustain himself, hence why he's so angry. Listen if you were starving 24/7 you'd be angry too.
Idk just kinda ghostly Jason. Nothing completely world bending that would upside the DC storyline too hard. Just a little something to spice it up I guess.

Jack sees the giant's castle

Jack inside the giant's castle
Reflection - from The Secret Portal Part One (Akash POV)
I glared at my reflection. My hair wouldn’t stay down no matter what I did. I sighed. If the definition of insanity was repeating the same thing and expecting a different result, I should’ve been locked away years ago. As I fixed my collar, I looked around my new quarters. It was smaller than the room I had at Carmen’s place—this base was tiny compared to Carmen’s, despite its elaborate underground. I didn’t mind, but it would take adjustment, and so far the couple weeks I’d been here, it wasn't quite enough. However, the Baxters seemed like cool people. Chiller than Jedi and Carmen.
Drop - from The Secret Portal Part One (Lexi POV)
“See you in gym!” I waved goodbye and bolted to the Music Wing to drop off my violin before sprinting across the school—yelling hello to Lucy Day—the best I could with a giant backpack. I shoved the darn thing into the tiny alcove of my locker, pulled out my English notebook, school laptop, colored gel pens, and day planner, then dashed to class. I arrived panting, collapsing into my seat at the table with my friends Gwen and Rose. “You made it,” Rose observed.
Glint - from The Secret Portal Part One (Ash POV)
“Okay, one more question,” said Lexi, deciding to ignore what a bearfalo was, “what powers do y’all have?” “Actually, I have a second one,” I interjected finally, sitting on this for a while. “What powers do we have?” “To answer your question first,” George said to me, “we don’t know. We do have a machine to test your blood, but I’ve never used it. You may be on your own.” He got a glint in his eye. “I can learn.”
Slam - from The Secret Portal Part One (Gwen POV)
Taking a deep breath, I slowly moved my right foot down the side. When I didn’t slip, I moved my left foot. I moved my right hand, then left hand. Right foot. Left foot. Right hand. Left hand. Right foot. Left foot. Right hand. Left hand. Right foot. Left— My left foot slammed into a vent cover, knocking me off balance and causing my butt to slam against the cover, knocking it off. I fell through the hole and somehow managed to grab the edges of the vent. I heard the cover crash onto the floor below me as I dangled from the ceiling.
Rain - from The Secret Portal Part One (Maddie POV)
As we came closer, I could see a rock about two feet in diameter. Metal by the look of it. Only, it didn’t seem rusted at all, which was strange, unless it didn’t rain in this field. “Great,” Noelle said. “A rock. Discovery of the century.” She cupped her hands to her mouth. “Ladies and nonexistent gentlemen! Rose Hernandez found a rock!”
[Technically, oxygen causes stuff to rust, and there is clearly oxygen here. I've been debating changing this line because on one hand Maddie likes science and may know this, on the other hand she's like a month into sixth grade and leans more toward engineering. I'll figure it out, but the point is this is the only time I mention the word rain. I think I need to change the weather more often.]
Thunder - from School of the Legends Year One
Jack scrutinized the castle before him. It stretched up, up, up into the sky--and as they were already in the clouds, Jack didn’t want to know how high the tallest tower was above the ground--how he wouldn’t like to be the poor bloke who was defenestrated from it. The castle was made of some sort of dark stone, giving it the unsettling feel of a haunted house. There was the cobblestone path, yes, but on either side of it, Jack realized that yes, they were still on clouds, though where the castle was, the clouds were dark and gray, and when Jack listened closely enough, he realized that there was a booming irregular pulse of thunder that shook the ground ever-so-slightly, enough to cause the stone beneath his shoes to rattle.
Glass - from The Secret Portal Part Two (Maddie POV)
“And… I broke a lot of glass.” “Whaddaya mean by ‘a lot’?” I asked. “Just the glasses we were drinking out of during dinner,” Kelsey said, her eyes becoming fixated on her hands. “Deanna got some stuck in her hand.” “Oh,” I whispered. “She’s okay, now,” Kelsey said. “But that didn’t matter.”
Frame - from School of the Legends Year One
As the side table was pushed up against the recliner, and at about the same height, crossing from one to the other did not require a stalk. Thankfully, the top of the table wasn't bare, and Jack, Jill, and Beau could hide behind the objects. At the very least, it made Jack feel a lot more comfortable than as exposed as he was climbing up the recliner. There was a picture of the two giants in a nice frame--the two smiling at the camera; such a juxtaposition to their stoic single photos on the mantle. Maybe these two were just normal folks, Jack thought. But every time the male giant sniffed the air, Jack wondered if maybe they were normal giants who ate humans. He hoped not for his, Jill, and Beau’s sake. There was a candlestick centered on the table behind the picture, a flame flickering at the wick. A little old-timey, but at the moment, the only thing Jack really cared about was their shadows not being cast on the giants.

i had noooo idea I've been posting mostly filipino fics of late, that's amazing 😂 but in conclusion conclusion the thing about me is that I think my most natural opening is a dialogue but because I'm aware of that, I think that's the reason why I've shied away from it bc there's an imaginary audience at the back of my head pointing a finger at me and laughing. like "haha look it's a one-trick pony" and here I am whirling to my shadow and saying "no I'm not!!!!"
BUT so I was expecting at least one dialogue starter in all of these fics but it turns out that has never been the case lmao. but also like, so when my sister was still in college, she taught me about "in medias res" which really stuck to me because I thought it was the most natural way of things. time is flowing, every beginning could be a middle or an end of something and it also resolves the problem of having to build up something before you get to the meat. like biting into a sandwich with the main filling bunched up in the middle or smth
and I guess that's affected my style, too? like something's always already happening, enough for the perspective to make an observation, or the action is already happening.
which makes me sound smarter than I really am but I never said I was qualified to analyze my own works in the first place 🤣

Blues Clues/ & You! - 'No "by Yourself" in "Together"' - The Trio and Reader (Platonic) Fanfic
Tumblr media
Request Prompt: Steve, Joe, and Josh comfort Y/N when they get hurt.
Word Count: 2098
Rating: General
Warnings: None
Date Published: 12th of February 2024
STORY BELOW CUT
Josh, Joe, and you were playing chasey outside in the backyard. Joe was it and was chasing you. You were both bolting around the yard.
"I've almost got you Y/N!" shouted Joe from behind sounding quite close.
You giggled playfully as you tried running as fast as you could to shake him off ducking and dodging your way around the sandpit and trees. Eventually, Joe was running out of breath and had to stop to catch his breath.
"Good try Joe, but you can't get me," You say as you slow down to a stop and turn around with a grin.
Joe then smiles at you as he looks up from looking at the ground to meet your eyes. You stuck your tongue out earning a gasp and a chuckle from him.
"Oh is this how it's going to be then hmm?" He asked.
He then tried to leap at you but you jumped out of the way and onto the other side of the outdoor table that was close by.
"And let the standoff commence," Josh said as he watched you and Joe have a standoff staring into each other's eyes.
You wriggle your fingers and pose like one of those wild western movies where the characters have a standoff in the middle of the town. Both narrow their eyes not looking away for even one singular second.
"Hey, who wants some lemonade?" Steve asked as he walked out the back door into the backyard holding a tray with glasses of lemonade on it and Mrs Pepper on his shoulder smiling.
Josh turned around as Steve spoke he then looked back at Joe and you and then back at Steve and nodded.
"I would like a glass!" Josh said with his, as always, cheery warm smile as he bounds over to Steve and takes a glass. "Thank you, Steve and Mrs Pepper"
"You're welcome, dear." Mrs Pepper says lovingly.
"No worries," Steve said, stepping sideways a bit to look behind Josh, seeing Joe and you staring at each other. "What are they doing?" he asks looking at Josh for some explanation.
"They are having a standoff" Josh simply states turning around to watch you and Joe while taking a sip of his lemonade. "Man, this is good!" He smiles at the taste of fresh lemonade.
"Okay..." Steve nods slowly as he places the tray with glasses of lemonade on a smaller table by the back door. Steve looks up quickly in front of him staring at the wall for a few seconds with a bit of confusion. "Why?" He asks turning and walking to stand next to Josh.
"Oh, we are playing tag." Josh further explains.
"Right! That makes so much more sense now." Steve chuckled as he took a sip of lemonade. He then joins Josh in watching you and Joe.
You and Joe then ran around the table staying a good distance apart as Joe tried to catch you but ultimately failed.
"HA!" Joe got up onto the outdoor table. But luckily you were quick on your feet cause you bolted away. As you were running away you looked back over your shoulder for a split second and BAM! you ran into a tree.
Your world went dark.
"Oh sheep!" Steve said as he ran over to you and got on his knees. Joe and Josh also came over as Steve looked you over.
"Why are they just lying there?" Joe asked. Josh just shrugged.
"Just as I thought. Y/N knocked themselves out when they hit their head into the tree." Steve explained resting a hand gently on your head as he looked at Joe and Josh.
"Oh no, are they going to be alright?" Josh asked
"I think they will be they are breathing" Steve puts simply as he puts you in the recovery position.
"Do we need to call an ambulance?" Joe asked
"Yeah that would be best" Steve nodded
"I'll call one on my handy dandy phone" Josh reaches into his back pocket and pulls out his handy dandy notebook which also happens to double up as a mobile phone on the other side.
**TIME SKIP** (AT THE HOSPITAL)
When you opened your eyes you looked around and realised you weren't at the Blues Clues house. You saw the walls were a soft white color with lots of different equipment and machines in the room. You felt uneasy.
"Bow bow?" Blue's once nestled head that was between her front paws had lifted to look at you.
"Blue?" A little smile appeared on your face. Blue then trotted up the bed and sat in your lap as you proceeded to gently stroke her head and back in a soothing manner that somehow calmed down your uneasiness a little. "it's good to see you Blue"
The door to the room began to open as Steve stepped in.
"Hey, Blue I got you a snack since-" he stopped his sentence as he saw you awake and looking right back at him. "Hey kiddo" his voice softened as well as his smile."how are you?"
That's all it took you felt tears coming up and welling in your eyes as they then proceeded to roll down your cheeks. Steve walked over to you and opened his arms out a bit.
"May I?" he asked before giving you a gentle hug. Blue leaned into you more as well offering more comfort as you quietly broke down sobbing in their arms. "It hurts doesn't it?"
"Yeah," you sobbed out. Your head was hurting quite a lot but it was to be expected since you did hit your head pretty hard on the tree.
**TIME SKIP AGAIN!** (AFTER YOUR BREAKDOWN)
Josh and Joe were now in the room with you, Steve, and Blue.
"Now the doctor said that you need to rest for a few more days," Josh said
"But! You get to come back to the Blues Clues house with us until you are better" Joe quickly chimed in seeing your face droop after what Josh had said fearing that you would have to stay at the hospital. You didn't mind the hospital but you didn't like it either you would prefer to get away as soon as it was possible.
"Thanks, guys," you said as you looked at the three of them with fondness.
The doctor came in and explained the situation more. Telling all of you how long the recovery would take. Which would only be a week or so since it wasn't major which you were all thankful for.
Soon it was time to leave the hospital you were dressed in some casual clothes. You, Josh, Blue, Joe, and Steve all left the hospital and went to the Blues Clues home.
**YET ANOTHER TIME SKIP** (HOME)
"I'll show you to your room," Josh said as he led you to a room in the house. He opened the door.
You looked around the room there was a window with polka-dot curtains, a side table, a wardrobe, and a bed. Upon further inspection of the bed on top of it were a couple of blankets.
"Do you like it?" Josh still stood at the doorway.
"It's nice" you replied. Josh walked over to the bed. You saw the blanket Josh held up looking at it. It was a simple deep dark blue with stars scattered over it. "I like the blanket. It's simple yet comforting"
"you know it's not just a blanket." Josh started turning around to you with the blanket in his hands. "hold it" he held it out to you. You took it and to your surprise, it was quite heavy.
"Woah I did not expect it to be heavy," you say very surprised.
"That's because it's a weighted blanket," Josh said
"Oh! That makes a lot more sense" You chuckled lightly looking over the blanket again and refolded it on the end of the bed.
"It's so cool that you get to stay over!" Joe says bursting into the room with his duck Boris and another plushie in one of his arms and the other arm up in the air with his eyes sparkling with excitement. "Hey Y/N I got you something," Joe said as he handed over a plushie. (the plushie was your favorite animal).
"Wow! Seriously?! for me?!" You said amazed as you held (your favorite animal) plush in your arms. "it's so soft and wonderful. Thank you, Joe!" You hugged Joe and he hugged right back.
"You're welcome" Joe simply replied. "Now the other reason I came in here is to get you two. It's dinner time!"
**AFTER DINNER** (during dinner you felt yourself becoming sadder and sadder. You felt bad for putting this on them to look after you.)
"Yum! That was delicious" You said putting on a smile and a happy tone. You then excused yourself from the table.
**After a while**
"Hey, where's Y/N?" Josh asked "I haven't seen them since dinner."
"Me neither." Steve put a hand on his chin as he thought.
"Blue have you seen Y/N?" Joe asked Blue shook her head.
"Bow. Bow Bow" (no. Sorry)
"let's spread out and search they would still be around here somewhere," Joe said taking charge.
"Yes, Joe!" Steve, Josh, and Blue are all doing an army salute to Joe like he was their leader. They then all split up searching high and low and asking the other residents inside and outside the home.
Joe opened a closet and was about to close it again but stopped when he heard a sniffle. "Y/N?" Joe questioned walking into the room. "are you here? are you okay?" Joe followed the sound until he saw you with teary eyes and tears running down your face. You looked like an absolute mess. He silently asked then hugged you holding you close and rubbing your back soothingly.
"Oh, Joe." You sobbed. "sorry"
"What are you sorry for?" Joe was confused but still kept you in the hug.
"Sorry for making you guys look after me. I don't want to be an inconvenience" You sobbed in his arms. He gently pulled you away looking at you.
"Oh Y/N..... you don't have to be sorry." He gently caresses your cheek. "and you are not an inconvenience" He saw you look away. "I mean it." he softly smiles.
"Really?" You looked into his eyes seeing if he was genuine or not. You saw the most genuine look you have ever seen in your life.
"We all love you." Joe smiles softly as he wipes some of your tears away.
Josh, Steve, and Blue walked into the space you two were in.
"Hi guys," You said softly. "Sorry for not coming back." You smiled a little looking at them all.
"It's quite alright," Steve said noticing your tear-stained face, and guess what you might be feeling.
"We are just glad you're safe" Josh added smiling softly. Blue wandered over and licked your cheek which made you giggle a bit.
"Thank you guys." You said.
Over the next weeks, the home was filled with laughter and fun times (hard times too but we like to keep it positive :3) getting to hang out with the gang at the Blues Clues house. You felt loved, safe, and protected. You felt like you could be yourself around them with no judgment. You felt like you didn't need to be perfect cause they weren't either they were like a big found family who, at the core of it all, loved each other and for them to welcome you into their family it was a comforting feeling to feel that you belonged.
But soon it was time for you to go. Which you never liked doing whenever you came over.
"You got everything?" Josh asked
"I believe so. Thank you guys again for everything. I always love coming over." You said smiling more than you ever had before.
"No problem," Joe said
"Anytime you need us we will always be there." Steve smiled with kind eyes.
You, Steve, Josh, Joe, and even Blue joined the group hug.
"We love you," Josh said while they were hugging.
"I love you guys too"
After you all finished the group hug you gathered your things in your backpack.
"Well, I'll see you guys later," You said waving as you started to head off.
"Bye!" Joe said
"See you later!" Josh said
"Bow-Bow!" (Bye-bye!) Blue said
"Safe travels!" Steve said.
You hoped it wasn't going to be too long until you could see them all again.
THE END

What's in my school bag?
I have a tendency to over pack so don't think you need all these things! Often I'll take things out or add things in depending on the day and other factors. I just love being prepared for anything the day holds and ensuring that during my breaks I have things to do whether it be reading, writing or listening to music/podcasts! I hope you find this list helpful if you're panicking about what to bring to school.
3- 6 notebooks. My notebooks are medium sized and decorated with stickers. I like to have a notebook per subject, so I make sure to bring plenty in.
My water bottle. I have a 500ml water bottle (it's pink of course!) and I always fill it with ice and sometimes add cucumber or fruit pieces. I'm thinking about getting a litre sized bottle at some point in the future, but in the meantime I always bring my bottle in and refill it at least once a day.
My mini planner. I do have a digital planner and create digital reminders but I love being able to flick through a book and remind myself of what I have planned or what work is due in that day.
A book of lined paper. This is one of those books where you can rip out the pages, making it easy to take notes and transfer them between folders or binders.
A perfume and roll on deodorant. Depending on the scent of my lotion and body washes, my perfume varies but I always bring one in (I may make a post about my favourite scents and body products in the future!)
My lunch box. I love to bring in my own lunches, I always make healthy and tasty lunches filled with fruits and veggies. My lunch box is pink and in a bento box style meaning I can always make my food look cute and organised.
My pencil case. I need a big pencil case because I always overpack when it comes to stationary. I do have a smaller backup pencil case for less busy days or if I will be going on a school trip/somewhere that requires me to take notes. It's full of black pens, pencils, my favourite gel pens, pastel highlighters, a glue stick, a pair of scissors, a ruler, a few washi tapes, a rubber and a pencil sharpener.
My travel folder. This folder is where I keep any homework, notes or work that needs to be transferred into a folder I keep at home (I have on per subject).
A pair of sunglasses for sunny days, a travel umbrella for rainy days and a scarf for colder days. I often remove or add these items depending on the forecasted weather and temperature.
A book or my kindle! I always bring in one of these, normally just so I can read for fun when I have a break or nothing to do. Bringing in a book is also a great way to start a conversation with someone else who reads books and helps stop you mindlessly scrolling when you have nothing to do at school.
My headphones and phone. I normally have a lot of free time during the school day and I like to bring my headphones so I can study in peace and listen to some classical or lofi music to keep me focused. My phone is obviously very important to bring in so I can message my friends and meet up with them, talk to my parents and make sure I can have a look at my to-do lists and plans.
My care bag. This ones pretty full so I wont list everything (although I may make a post explaining what a care bag is, what I have in mine and what I recommend bringing).
Gum or mints. When my mouth and breath feels and smells clean I feel much more confident talking to people and speaking in class.
A claw clip and some silk hair ties. You never know when you'll need to put your hair up or when it'll be super hot so you need to cool down. These are super useful and you can get them in pretty colours, meaning they are a perfect accessory!
Some healthy snacks. Depending on the day, I could be in school for quite a while meaning I may get hungry. Bringing some carrot sticks and hummus or a piece of fruit ensures that if I get hungry I have something to eat just in case.
Lip-balms and lip-gels. During colder months my lips get dry so I always bring in a few lip products (some of my favourite lip brands are Vaseline, burts bees, lush and the body shop).
Hand cream. Similarly, my hands also get a little dry so I tend to bring in some hand cream or hand lotion.
Face and body sun-cream. From March to October I regularly apply face sun-cream and body spf when I know that more of my body will be exposed to direct sunlight.
A box of plasters. I often get blisters so for me it's very important that I always have some just in case.
A portable charger or charging cable.
My wallet and any other identification I need.
Post it notes and annotating tabs. These make it easy for me to keep track of important moments and words or phrases in my school books.
A stain remover just in case I get something on my outfit and need to stop it from staining.
A small notebook so I can doodle, write down random notes or do some quick journaling spreads in my free time.
Finally, I always bring in some crystals. These vary depending on my mood or plans for the day, but I always have one or more crystals in my bag!
Thank you for reading! All my love, mj.

Vanilla
Lashton, boyxboy, 18+
Warnings: just talk about sex, but no actual smut (yet)
---
"Tie me up"
Luke's head shot up from his fashion magazine "Sorry, what?"
"Sorry, I meant tie my hands up"
"Uh -", Luke slowly blinked at his best friend, eyeing the bandana he had had on his head just minutes ago and was now holding out towards Luke.
"I can't stop pulling and scratching my hair out again.", Ashton sigherd, sitting down on the couch next to Luke, "You know, just like with how bad it got when we were all nervous about how our new setlist for the 5SOS show would be received"
"Oh", Luke was finally understanding.
Ashton had this habit of pulling on his hair an scratching his scalp, when he got nervous. Often he just busied himself with something like playing the drums and wore bandanas to stiffle the urge when it got especially bad.
Michael joked that this was why he would he the first to go bald.
It got less when they were on tour just because there was so much going on all the time. But right now they were relaxing, taking time off after tour... or supposed to be relaxing.
Ashton was thinking about concept for his second solo album, trying out different lyrics and emotions as he had told Luke but didn't want to show anyone yet.
"Hey, you know that no one expects anything. You're stressing yourself -"
"I know", the older interrupted, "I just - I have so much motivation but I wanna make it different, not just a repeat of my first album. But I'm not even writing anymore, I just keep fucking pulling on my stupid hair and I'll be fucking bald by our next single and -"
"So you want me to tie you up?", Luke interrupted to stop his rambling. Luke might seem dumb sometimes but he knew his best friend inside out and he knew what to do to stop him from doing things like this. Summing up what he intended to say before he goes off the rails with overthinking and rambling too much was one of those things.
Ashton nodded, looking exhausted.
"Okay", Luke tucked the dark purple bandana from Ashton's fingers, "So - oh ... just ... like that?"
Ashton was holding up his wrists, hands balled to fists next to each other.
"Seems a little kinky, huh", Luke grinned stupidly, while also doing as his friend had requested and tying the cloth around his wrists.
"Very funny", Ashton's voice was dry.
Once Luke was done tying him up, Ashton slouched on the couch, tied hands falling limp into his lap.
"And what now?", Luke asked curiously.
"I don't know... nothing, I guess"
"I mean if you had a girlfriend she'd have some ideas -", Luke broke off into giggles at Ashton's glaring eyes, hands coming up to cover his mouth. Which he then waved in front of Ashton's face "Oh look what I can do"
"Funny", Ashton mumbled with an eyeroll, but he was smiling.
Everytime over the next hour when Ashton lifted his tied hands to scratch his nose or scoop a curl of dark blonde hair out of his eyes, Luke would giggle quietly next to him. Ashton did nothing, except taking deep breaths, while Luke scribbled into his notebook. The urge to write something himself that he knew he couldn't and would just end up pulling his hair grew smaller and smaller.
But he still ended up raising his hands, attempting to pull his roots out of frustration. His fingers wrapped around a curl on top of his head and -
"Ouch!"
"No hair pulling", Luke said firmly as he set the notebook he had just slapped Ashton's fingers with back in his lap.
"You're so vanilla"
"Heyyy, don't use my joke techniques against me"
"Why? Do you feel attacked?", Ashton grinned brightly at his younger bandmate, "Is it because you are vanilla?"
"Huh?", he poked him in the ribs when he didn"t get a response, still grinning cheekily, "Is that why you never talk about your one night stands? Cuz they're reaaaally vanilla?"
"Even if they were, that's nothing I'd be embarrassed about"
"Mhmm", Ashton poked him again, "This your way of saying you're vanilla?"
Thinking back, the drummer should've expected Luke to snap, his whole goal at the moment was to get a reaction out of him after all.
But he still wouldn't have expected Luke to suddenly grab his tied wrists, push them up over his head and backwards, thus making Ashton fall on his back on the couch. He found himself with his hands above his head, held in place by Luke's who was bending over him now.
"Trust me, Ash, I'm nowhere near vanilla and you better stop nagging me if you don't wanna find out how far I am from that"
Ashton's eyes just about bugged out of his head.
What the fuck?
Luke seemed to think the same, as he suddenly let go of Ashton's wrists like he had been burned just as quick as he'd grabbed them.
"I uh - yea, no I'm not - anyway", he coughed, sitting up and a little further away from Ashton, "I'll keep writing my lyrics"

Blank Recipe Book - Cookbook for Kitchen Witches, 121 Pages, A5 (5.8'' x 8.3'') format
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
One last item I have successfully published through Amazon KDP is a blank recipe cookbook for you to notedown all the kitchen witch recipes you can think of.
I'm personally an avid and enthusiastic cook and baker myself. I love to learn new recipes and amend them so they suit my taste better. However, I have one ugly habit - I don't cook by recipe and I never note down how exactly I have cooked or baked something. I follow my instincts and experience in the kitchen. Why is it an ugly habit? Because people naturally want to know how I did this or that when they like it and they ask me for a recipe and I'm like: 'Uhhh... *giving them a list of ingredients* and you kinda mix it together, you know... I don't follow recipes...' And leaves people frustrated... and confused...
Anyway! This is a nice notebook to start noting recipes down so when you are asked how exactly you baked that apple pie from blue glowing apples, you can show them the recipe in your kitchen witch notebook so they know what kind of poison is about to kill them in 5 minutes. LOL! Just joking... It usually takes about an hour to properly spread through the system... 😂
Cookbook for Kitchen Witches
Again, you can find it available on all the Amazon variations of the site.
I'm not going to note them again here, if you need help finding the journal, just ask me, I have all the links. 😊

🟪◼🟦◼🟩◼🟨◼🟧◼🟥◼🟪◼🟦◼🟩◼🟨◼🟧◼🟥
These are the three journals / notebooks I have published so far.
I hope at least one of you find any of them useful.
I'll probably order all of them myself, simply to check the quality so if you want, you can wait for them to be delivered to me so I can show you the actual real life photos.
Also!
Let me know if there's some other kind of journal you would love to see online but you weren't able to find one so far.
Tarot journal with affirmations? Some more spicy or kinky tarot journal? K-pop journal to note down the idol of the day or the song or MV of the day? I mean, the possibilities are truly endless and now when I know how to do this, I can literally make anything come true. Just like the unicorn I truly am in my heart. 🦄😂😂😂
Okay! Enough of my self-promotion!
Please check the journals out! Order if you like any of them! Be part of my dream coming true. 😊
Thank you all for staying around.

2.4k words!
hi molly have fun reading
here is the link for the playlist !!!]
thursday passed by like the speed of light, you focused on your homework and basically stayed in bed all day. you had not talked to the boys today, at all, not because you didn't want to but because you needed this homework done. it was that damn needing-to-always-be-early thing. your essay was due in five days and you were already done. in a way it was a good thing, because it made you very productive.
to treat yourself you decided to take yourself out for a little coffee. it was six pm and the sun was setting, the fall weather really coming in now. you dressed warm, with a big wool sweater and some comfortable leggings. the coffee shop was only about a seven minute walk due to being on campus, closest to your dorm.
as you step in, the smell of coffee is immediately comforting, the barista immediately recognizing you. you come here often, and it was so surprise she knew your name.
"hey, [y/n], right?" she smiles. she places her hands on the register as you walk over to her.
"yeah! hi!" you greet her with a smile. she had short hair and brown eyes, a smaller figure with a ton of energy. she was always super kind to you when you came to do some work.
"i'm alice. i don't think i ever introduced myself." she smiles, happiness pours out of her and it's so comforting. this whole place is amazing.
"so, one chai latte coming up!" she beams as she punches it into the system, the little ticket printing out as you pay for the coffee with your phone- not realizing you had an unopened text until now.
"by the way" alice begins, her voice low. you turn your attention to her as you look into hazel eyes, and she smiles softly. "there's a boy who asked what your order was earlier, i dont know you or him but it looks like he really likes you" she smiles. you gasp softly, your mind immediately drifting to jake shyly asking for your drink at the counter.
"i don't think so..." you say, as she hands you the warm mug.
"from what i saw.. definitely" she confirms and you smile softly. thanking her and sitting at a table in the back. you put on your headphones and click on your favourite playlist, as you doodle in your notebook.
jake: Hey, [y/n], have you started working on the essay?
you: yes! well, i'm done haha
jake: You're done? The whole thing?
you: yeahhh....
jake: I was going to ask if we could work on it together.
jake: But you're done
you: we can still work on it! i'll help you, we can work on it after class tomorrow?
jake: Yes, please.
and before you can actually focus on what you're drawing, you realize it's jake and josh, directing a movie together.
-
you woke up extra early this thursday morning, and wanted to dress super cute since fall was your favourite season. layers and comfy sweaters was your thing. you wore some tights with a skirt on top of them, a black sweater with a white turtleneck underneath. for shoes, you put your docs on with some thick socks. you had jake and josh on your mind since last night; thoughts of what they'd be wearing today, what you were going to talk about. you even did your makeup, wanting to feel extra pretty for some reason. the thought of seeing them both simply making you so giddy.
you walk into the classroom and your eyes immediately search for them, their brown eyes and soft smiles look for you as well and you quickly walk over to them. as you arrive to the row where they're sat, you realize they left an empty seat between them. you offer a soft smile as you walk closer, and your heart beat quickens.
to sit between them you need to basically pass over jake's lap, and the thought makes you incredibly nervous as you wore a pretty short skirt. you finally reach their seats and greet them, then awkwardly trip over your own feet and land on jake's lap. your whole ass is pressed up against his crotch and he gasps in response. you can't help but feel something against you and you push the thought away immediately.
"fuck- sorry- i'm clumsy" your face burns up as his hand reaches your back. you hide your face for a couple of seconds as you realize what just happened.
"are you alright?" he asks you as you stand up, embarrassed. his cheeks are red and his lips are dark. you nod slowly and sit down in your seat, wanting to hide yourself from the world. you ignore him for a couple seconds as you try not to die from embarrassment; digging through your bag as you grab your computer and pull it out, placing it on the little table attached to the seat.
"you look really pretty today" josh smiles, placing his hand on your shoulder. he wore a white long sleeve with lined grey pants and some white vans. he looked very adorable.
"thank you, josh" you smile, looking down and playing with the hem of your skirt, the feeling of your heart beating hard in your chest making you feel so embarrassed still.
you feel jake shift in his seat and clear his throat, biting his lip as he turns on his computer. your eyes drift to the post-it you left a couple days ago; and how he taped it down onto the cold material of the computer so it wouldn’t be able to move.
the feeling of shame fills you as you’ve probably made him uncomfortable, and you want to cry. your eyes begin to fill with tears as you clear your throat and your fingers shake slightly against your keyboard, typing in your password. you feel jake’s eyes on you as he raises his arm to level it with yours, his hand caressing yours for a couple of seconds.
“it’s okay” he says softly, his eyes reassuring you instantly. it's almost as if he could read your thoughts, know how you feel. you nod slowly but drift your eyes away from him, the feeling still being so present.
-
your class was over and you didn't speak much to either one of them, which upset you a little. the excitement you felt this morning ruined by your stupid clumsiness.
josh had another class so it was just you and jake. you said your goodbyes to josh as he left and shifted your attention to jake, who was smiling softly at you. unfortunately, the coffee shop was closed today due to their shipment not coming in and they were completely out of stock.
"we can.. go to my dorm.. if you want" you suggest hesitantly, but your crush on jake was not going away and you felt comfortable with him; but also the guilt from earlier making you really want to help him with his homework.
"are you sure, [y/n]? don't do this because of earlier" he says softly, his eyes giving you a worried look as his hand makes its way to your shoulder. you shake your head 'no'.
"it's okay. i trust you, lets go because it's getting cold" you chuckle and he smiles, following you to your dorm room on the other side of campus. he walks close to you, his arm brushing against yours a couple of times which send butterflies all inside your stomach.
as you reach the door of your dorm room, you unlock the door and let him in first; he walks past you and smiles as he sees the way you decorated and personalized the room. you had a tiny radio next to your bed, black fluffy sheets and black pillows. you had hung up fake plants and fairy lights to the ceiling; giving the dead room some life. you had a dark grey rug on the floor next to a little beanbag where you did your class assigned readings. there was a pile of books on your desk next to your bed, and a notebook with your doodles inside.
“why film?” he asks, turning to you as his eyes staring deeply into yours.
“well, i just find it so interesting. the entire process of creating a movie is fascinating to me.” you respond, a small smile creeps on your lips.
“do you want to be a director or producer?” he questions you, wanting to know everything. he sits on your bed, closest to the wall.
you sit on the other side of your bed, resting your back against the cold wall. “uhm- well, i don’t think so. those jobs make you be the boss of people and i’ve always been sort of a background character so-“
“not to me.” he smiles, opening his computer. the words that come out of his mouth causes your cheeks to burn, and you want to push his computer and kiss him, right now. but the thought that he might not feel the same way holds you back.
"are you okay if i put some music on while we work? it just helps me focus" you say shyly and he nods right away, watching you as you plug in your phone to the little radio and press your favourite playlist, then sitting next to jake as you look over his essay. he already had two paragraphs written which surprised you.
as you lean towards him, your head is inches from his shoulder while you read his work, your fingers scrolling on the trackpad of the computer placed on his lap. the fact that your hand is so close to his.. it makes you very nervous- him sucking in his breath doesn't help either. the smell of his musky cologne doesn't help, because it's so sexy. it was hard to focus on the homework as he was right there, in your room, in your bed. and you wanted him bad. but the fear held you back- the fear that he didn't think of you this way.
you decided to walk jake back to his dorm room, he had advanced himself greatly on his essay which made you really happy. you could tell it made him happy too since we already had a lot more homework from other classes. he shows you which building is his and lets you in before him.
the door opens and reveals josh working at the desk in the corner of the room. you look at how they've decorated- posters on the walls, they had matching burgundy sheets on the bed. the thing that caught your eye first though, was the electric guitar next to the desk.
"hi josh! guitar!!!!" you say excitedly. you turn to jake who is now behind you, he chuckles a little. "yours?" you ask and he nods.
"hi, [y/n]" josh smiles, turning the chair from the desk towards you. he stands up and walks over, giving you a small hug. as his arms wrap around you- the musky vanilla scent rubs off and your heart flutters at how.. comforting he feels. if you could describe josh in one word; it'd be soft. or.. sunshine?
and jake... jake was the moon, the opposite of his brother. he was soft, for sure, but dark. the darkness is what intrigued you- what you wanted to know more about.
"did you get your homework done, jakey?" josh looks up at his brother as he settles on the bed which is placed on the left of the room, jake sits on the right bed. you decide to steal josh's previous spot at their desk. you set down your keys on the desk as you sit down.
"he made a lot of progress" you smile, answering for him. jake nods and looks at his brother for approval. josh stares at his brother proudly, then writes something down on his little notebook which was on the bed. the desk was close enough for you to see what he wrote.
'i've got love in my heart, for an army apart, i am bleeding'
though you don't understand anything from what he meant by that; the action makes you smile. you wonder what inspired josh to write that; and seeing the proud look he gave his brother makes you feel all warm inside.
"i'm really happy to see the progress you made, jake" you smile and he thanks you, taking out his computer and placing it on his bed. "i'm gonna head back, i'm pretty tired" you can't help but yawn, getting up and saying your goodbyes to the pretty boys who swam your thoughts all day long. jake opens his mouth to respond but josh cuts him off.
"let me walk you out, [y/n]" he says kindly and you nod, watching him open the door and leading you down the stairs. as you reach the front glass doors of the dorm, josh grabs your hand softly. he pulls you closer to him, your back against the wall as you look up at him. you feel your heartbeat quicken as his brown orbs stare down into you.
"i like you" he says softly and you can't breathe, this can't be real.
"y-you do?" your whole body feels numb, the air is thin as he's so close, his face inches away from yours as his arms are on each side of your body. he nods slowly, leaning in...
his lips crash into yours softly, the feeling driving you wild, they're so soft, and warm. he kisses you so sweetly- almost as if he's afraid you'll break under his touch. you kiss him back, your hands making their way to the back of his neck and into his soft curly hair. he presses his body against yours, the wall making it so you can't go anywhere but closer to him.
once he pulls away, you breathe out harshly to catch your breath- in complete shock. he backs up from you as the sound of footsteps coming down the stairs startles the both of you. he bites his bottom lip nervously has his hand rubs the back of his neck- mustering up the courage to ask you something.
"[y/n], would you like to get a drink with me tomorrow night?" he asks, his voice soft and shy. you waste no second to nod, offering a small smile. he smiles back, giving you a small hug before you leave.
"[y/n]! you forgot your keys." jake runs down the stairs, handing them off to you quickly, his eyes examining you and josh who's completely flushed. he gives a puzzled expression to his brother before saying goodnight to you, offering a little wave before you walk away.
your thoughts filled with the feeling of josh's lips against yours.
