I finally began watching voltron
OKAY SO at the recommendation of a super cool person (@imperfection-you-will-find (sorry if you don’t want to be tagged) ) I got into watching Voltron: Legendary Defenders and I just finished the first season AND IT IS A REALLY COOL SHOW. I know I’m like 5 years late to the party but the animation! Characters! World building! All very interesting!! Love how smoothly they blend those 3D models into the show, it’s barely noticeable
Here’s a few thoughts (before I go binge the next season)
- first off it is BOLD that the first episode is an hour+ long. like damn they didn’t have to do that but they did and the pacing is surprisingly good for what they had to do, though I lowkey wish there was more adventuring-to-find-the-rest-of-the-lions because that part was pretty interesting, especially when they talked about having to form a bond with the lions first
- Hunk is a cool guy and I really like how he develops and ends up being one of the more serious characters (when, unfortunately, he isn’t the but of the joke. He’s neat but they make fun of his weight a fair bit and that’s not fun). Love how he has a good sus-detector, also he was SLAYING when he saved people during the season 1 finale
- Pidge is REALLY COOL and I personally (so far at least) headcanon them as enby. they also give off transman vibes and honestly that’s what I thought they were going to do with the character until the reveal. It’s cool how they handled it, and I love that the show didn’t go for an all-boy cast because that’d be disappointing.
- Lance is kinda annoying but he’s growing on me. I’m not the biggest fan but I like how he’s developing. Blue colour scheme is cool, but damn he really put everyone and an entire planet in danger just because he crushed briefly on a girl. Shame.
- Shiro is COOL. We don’t know much about him and the portrayal of his trauma is a really good thing to add. I do find it mildly funny (in a dark way? funny might not be the right word) that like. Lance and Hunk are there because vibes, Pidge is there for vibes but also they were on a mission of their own, Keith right now is very mysterious and gives off many vibes, but Shiro’s backstory is that he was tortured for a year, forced to fight, there’s the implication that his body was forcefully modified as he was trained to be a weapon, and also he’s probably killed quite a few people and he’s trying to deal with that and everything while like, they’re vibing
- Keith is COOL. Red lion swag. Love his somewhat morally ambiguous vibes, also I feel like he’s going to be a big projection character. They haven’t really covered his background other than he dropped out, but I bet there’s a lot more going on. I can DEFINITELY see he is liked. ALSO I feel like the whole “you fight like a Galra soldier” is more than just a one off line. I sense it. Plus the whole “you have to earn the trust of the red lion, you can’t just befriend it right away” gives off big flags of “HEY PAY ATTENTION”. I could write so much about this but I wanna go binge the second season xD
- THE CLIFFHANGER OF A FINAL EPISODE. There is so much I could talk about (the character development, the battle scenes, everything is so cool. It’s like seeing all the things I wish we could’ve seen in steven universe and also I think belos would be proud of the general genocide even if it isn’t religion based). I’ll keep it short and just say that DAMN SO MUCH HAPPENS AND IT IS VERY COOL
I’m going in spoiler free and it’s quite fun! Thanks for the recommendation @imperfection-you-will-find, can’t wait to watch more so I can fully appreciate your super cool edits and posts xD

Once Bitten, Twice Stupid 192
192
Holding Keith’s hand in public felt nice. Walking from the hotel to the restaurant, Lance found himself watching families of all types as they walked. He couldn’t help it. A smile coming to his lips as he watched kids nag their parents, or listened to them as they played. His hand sitting on his stomach while his mind substituted the kids for their twins, and the parents as Keith. Keith would be such a good dad. He absolutely knew that for certain. He’d worried when Keith had spent most of the night sleepless, the walk seeming to invigorate him as it wore away Keith’s energy. Keith needed his coffee pronto, lest a server cop his boyfriend’s uncaffeinated anger loaf rage.
Leading Keith into the restaurant, it had a kind of rustic charm. Heavy oak logs made the walls, with all kinds of memorabilia stuck to the walls, including a giant stuffed fish with a plaque that red “Billy Bass”. It appealed to his tacky side in all the right ways. Sending Keith to find a seat, his boyfriend slouched off to throw himself into the only available booth. Lance giving a shake of his head affectionately. He really loved that cranky werewolf. Waddling over to the counter, he forced himself to remember to look and act like a girl. Keith didn’t know he was terrified of the same kind of comments made at the petting zoo being repeated. This trip had to go as well and as smoothly as it could. Picking up the menu, he knew instantly he wanted more than pancakes. Everything smelt vaguely appealing, and Keith would eat like there was no tomorrow.
“What can I do you for, darling?”
Jumping at being unexpectedly talked to, the woman behind the counter cackled at him
“Sorry, love! I didn’t think you’d be lost in thought over a menu”
Lance flashed a smile, careful of his teeth. He kind of wished he’d worn a set of glasses. The more he stood in the restaurant, the more he heard and the bigger the world suddenly seemed to be
“Sorry, everything sounds so good I’m not sure where to begin”
The woman chuckled
“I remember those feelings. How many you got in there?”
“Two. I guess I do look pretty big”
“And carrying low, you’ll be in labour no time, love. Now. What do think?”
No. Nope. No labour for him. Not unless he was comfortably set up at VOLTRON... he’d hold his legs together for as long as possible if their twins dared to think of coming this soon
“I think I’m famished. Can I please order two sets of pancakes and two sets of the bacon breakfasts? Ooooh, and I’ll grab a fruit salad, two of the largest coffees you have, aaaand... I think I’ll have a green tea latte... and a fruit salad. Yeah, that’s all, thank you... oh! Do you guys have soy milk? I don’t want to gas my boyfriend”
The woman behind the counter ogled him fo a moment, shaking her head and laughing again
“I don’t know where you’re going to fit all that... We have soy, almond, and regular. None of that skin stuff”
Lance blushed. He couldn’t help that he didn’t exactly know what he felt like, but food seemed like an amazing idea
“It’s for me and my partner. Soy will be fine, thanks”
The woman slapped his arm gently with the back of her hand
“I know that, love. Just an old woman teasing”
“You don’t look that old”
She looked about the age he should look... her name tag reading “Dae”, the white tag almost lost in the red of her bright red shirt
“That’s the best thing I’ve heard all day. Now, darling, cash or card?”
“Card please”
The woman rang up there largish breakfast bill. Lance paying as he was trapped into small talk
“So, love. Are you here for our Easter markets? Or you one of those passing through?”
“Oh, my boyfriend and I are spending a few days here. We’re meeting up with some friends”
The woman printed him a receipt without him asking
“I’m sure you’ll find this quite boring compared with the cities around here, but we have own charm. Now, can I get a name for this order?”
He’d been prepared for that. He’d made kind of a mental story for himself. He and his photographer boyfriend were driving up, stopping in small towns as Keith built up a portfolio in the hopes of turning to selling prints online
“Lancella... my, uh, parents were hoping for a boy”
“I’m sure they love you at any rate. We can’t help our names. You go take a load off and I’ll bring your coffee over. Take my advice, love, take a look at the markets while you’re here. They really are something else”
“Awesome. We might just take your advice. Thank you”
Siding, barely, into the booth opposite Keith, Keith was glaring at the menu in his hands. Tugging it free, his boyfriend huffed as Lance set the menu back into its holder
“Your coffee’s coming”
“Good”
Keith should have perked up at the thought of coffee. The scent was strong enough that Lance’s stomach was threatening to turn traitor right there at the booth
“Babe?”
“It’s nothing. You looked like you were having a good conversation, Lancella”
Lance rolled his eyes at the name
“I’m a simple man. The best lies have a kernel of truth in them”
“It pisses me off that you have to lie. You’re you. If people don’t like that, they can go play in traffic”
There was his grumpy little anger loaf. He’d also realised something that was likely to make Keith grumpier
“You can’t just put them in traffic. You know, we’re going to be in trouble”
Keith sighed deeply
“What for now?”
“I’m starving... and all that food has to come back up. Plus, apparently I’m going to pop soon”
Scowling at him, Keith sat back and crossed his arms. His voice firm and joke free
“There’s no way you’re allowed to even think about giving birth in this crappy town. Don’t even think about going into labour”
Sometimes it was scary how in tune they were. He didn’t want to give birth here, yet he couldn’t hate this town
“I don’t know. This town isn’t that crappy. This is the town you were born in and you’re not crappy. Maybe crabby... but not crappy”
“You’re fucking hilarious”
Lance shot his boyfriend double finger guns
“I try. But seriously, I’m starving...”
He’d also forgotten to do his shots before leaving the hotel room. Keith coming out with the bath mat around his waist had driven away the thought. His boyfriend hadn’t questioned why he’d packed heavier than usual. There was a whole suitcase of towels and bedding, waiting to be unpacked. His new plan was that after breakfast they’d unpack a little more, and he’d look up the directions to the cemetery where Keith’s dad was buried. The vampire knew his own pain from having now lost both his parents, yet that was nothing compared to Keith losing his dad at such a young age. Making the comparison seemed really shitty and like it lorded the fact Lance had had his parents for so long, that’s why he’d never say it out loud.
Their conversation was interrupted by the arrival of the coffee and the latte. Keith sliding both mugs towards him as Lance thanked “Dae”. Wrapping his hands around his cold drink, there was kind of a happy peacefulness as Keith took his first sip of coffee. This was nice. Them having no real schedule. Not rushing around. Kind of on a date, but not at the same time...
“Stop staring”
Chuckling, Lance moved his hand up to take the straw between his fingers, stirring his latte as continued to stare
“What are you going to do if I don’t?”
Kicking him under the table, that was Keith’s great comeback
“Really, babe?”
“Fuck you. Fight me”
It’d be soon long since he’d heard that one. The second they found out he was carrying, he had to behave himself and training went out the window
“I could beat you, but we both know you’d liked it”
Delivering the words slowly and purposely, Lance succeeded in making Keith choke on his coffee. Placing the mug down, his boyfriend coughed into his hand
“Fuuuuck...”
“Still want to fight me?”
“Keep this up and I’ll beat your arse so hard you won’t be able to walk for a month”
“Do you promise?”
On the back of choking on his coffee, Keith choked on air. His hand fanning his face as he shook his head
“You deserve to be punched in the dick for that”
“Nah. You love me too much for that”
“God. I fucked that one up”
Lance knew Keith was teasing, yet he felt himself automatically tear up. Apparently he could dish it, but his ego was too much of a diva to take it. Dropping his gaze to his drink, he felt awful for how he’d reacted
“Babe?”
“It’s nothing”
“You know I love you, don’t you?”
“Yeah. Sorry. I guess my hormones are being silly. It’s ridiculous”
Keith wisely decided not to agree with him, changing the topic
“What did you order?”
Raising his head again, Lance shot him that fake smile that hadn’t come out in so long that he wasn’t sure he was doing it right
“Pancakes. Eggs, tomatoes, bacon, sausages, and fried onion. Coffee for you. Tea for me, and fruit salad”
“You think that’s enough?”
Now he was feeling self conscious over how much he wanted to scarf down his food
“I figured you’d eat what I didn’t...”
Keith playfully kicked him under the table again
“Great. Now I’m the garbage disposal unit”
Shit. Why had his mood plummeted so much? Now it had, his ego was getting riled up. He was starting to feel vulnerable over being pregnant and into a strange place, where people he didn’t know could easily target him, or Keith. He couldn’t scent anyone like them in the place, yet he’d been so care free when they’d come in, he hadn’t thought to. The sudden shift to extreme vulnerability by his ego threw him off. They were a goddamn vampire. Had he been so inclined, he could easily take every single human on in the restaurant... Why was he suddenly so spineless? And why was his ego not propping his mood up with its usual douche attitude.
“Babe, you’ve gone pale. And you’re shaking. What’s wrong?”
He was shaking? He hadn’t noticed...
“Sorry. My ego... just went funny...”
Keith stared at him in confusion
“What do you mean?”
“I don’t know...”
He didn’t know. Was it not sure keith could protect them? No. Keith could and would go beyond them. Then why did it want him to run? All he wanted was a nice breakfast with Keith, so Keith wouldn’t be so stressed about what was to come...
Leaning across the table, Keith’s confusion grew. Cocking his head, he drew back slowly
“You feel like... you’re pushing everything away. If there’s something wrong...”
“I don’t know what’s wrong. I’m sorry”
Trying to let his ego flare a little, the instinct to run grew with it. Lance quick to force it back down. Maybe he’d been too focused on being home of late? No one had made any kind of threat towards him
“If you’re not feeling well, we can go back to the room”
“That’s not it. All of a sudden I got a spike of fear and I’m not sure why”
Keith pursed his lips, shook his head, then suddenly decided to move to sit next to Lance, a little too fast for Lance’s liking. Taking his hand in his, his boyfriend squeezed softly
“You don’t need to be scared”
Having Keith close should have calmed him, yet the spike of fear had spiked his anxiety over not knowing why he was kind of internally freaking out
“I know. All I wanted was a nice breakfast”
“We can still have a nice breakfast...”
“I’m so sorry. I know you’re stressing badly. This has to be so much all at once”
The restaurant was loud, despite it being breakfast time. Too many people seemed way too awake
“The glasses help. Do you want them?”
Yes. And ear plugs. Someone dropped something in the kitchen, Lance flinching at the sound as he shook his head
“No. No... it’s okay. I’ve been doing this longer than you have”
“Are you sure?”
“Babe, I’ll be okay. It’s just weird... I don’t smell anything... bad. Maybe I’ve spent too much time hermitting”
“Or maybe people just suck?”
“Careful, babe. Your grump’s showing”
Keith huffed with a pout
“I’m not being grumpy”
“Fine, your lack of people love is showing. I hope breakfast doesn’t take too long”
“You need to eat more. You’re all skin and bones”
Lance’s ego chose to take the wrong way. He ate. Keith knew he ate. He couldn’t bring Keith’s mood down any further
“I’m going to. Your babies are demanding it”
Bring their hands to Lance’s stomach, Keith rested them there
“Already causing so much trouble. You two better give your dad a break”
“That’d be nice. I think the first thing they’re getting when they’re old enough is a trampoline”
“Why do I feel like you’re the one who’s going to be spending more time on it than them?”
“Because it’s nice to lay out under the stars?”
They hadn’t done that in so long... Maybe they’d get a chance while they were here?
“I wonder what sex would be like?”
And there Keith went stating the real reason he supported getting their kids a trampoline
“I’m not conceiving any future siblings on a trampoline”
Keith bumped his shoulder lightly
“There goes that idea...”
“I’m going to put you in a time out if you don’t get your mind out of the gutter”
“But without the gutter, my mind would be homeless”
Without missing a beat, the werewolf had him groaning
“Who taught you that one? They need to be shot”
Keith grinned, Lance kind of envious that no matter how upset Keith was internally, he was keeping his ego well under control. He should be proud. No. He was proud. He just wished his would perk back up
“Pretty sure I learned that from you”
Great. He couldn’t exactly shoot himself... though he’d definitely shot himself in the foot in the metaphoric sense
“You don’t want to listen to me. I’m going crazy in my old age”
“You’re not even that old”
“Older than you”
Keith put on that bad southern drawl that never failed to work on him
“And twice as pretty. A pretty little thing like you should be careful. A big bad wolf might just gobble you up”
“Nah, my boyfriend takes care of all the scary things out there”
“I could take him. They don’t call me the Mullet for nothin’”
Oh lord. That was terrible. That was terrible and Keith knew it was terrible
“Is it because you’re kinda fishy? A bit limp all dead eyed?”
“Why, miss. I’ve been told I’ve got the perdiest eyes around”
Lance let out a long groan of defeat. He didn’t feel safe, and as much as he didn’t want to feel amused, Keith’s stupidity was kind of turning his frown upside down
“Alright. No more. I get it”
“Do you feel any better?”
No...
“Yeah. I’m still staving, though”
“It won’t be too much longer... hopefully”
   *
Keith kept a careful eye on Lance once their breakfast finally arrived. Lance noticing, and responding by eating despite the lack of interest in the pancakes he’d wanted. It was hard to pretend to be happy. Everything felt too much for him, and having it all feel too much for Lance threw him.
Holding it together, the walk back to the hotel was brisk. Lance tried to shake him off to go to the bathroom alone, but Keith wasn’t having it. As Lance “threw” himself down to vomit, he slipped behind him, tugging off the annoying wig so he could rest his chin on Lance’s shoulder. His boyfriend was shaking, his skin felt a little colder than its above barely warm natural state. Having played breakfast over in his mind, he still didn’t know why Lance had spooked, or why his ego had drawn in. The only thing he could think of was that that woman’s words brought up Lance’s fear of giving birth soon. No one had said anything to his precious mate. No one had barely looked their way. No. Everyone else was too busy fucking chewing like a herd of cows. The noise infuriating now he’d noticed.
Staying with Lance until his stomach settled, his boyfriend wobbled on his feet as he stood. Keith had spent the time giving Lance belly rubs and trying smother him in his scent to calm him down. His own ego was rattled by their mates strange actions, making it almost mad at a situation where no one was to blame. Rinsing his mouth out, Lance stared at him in the mirror. He looked exhausted
“I’m sorry”
No. Lance had nothing to be sorry for
“Babe. Hey, it happens”
“I’m supposed to be the one in control here... and I freaked out for no real reason”
“It’s okay”
Lance didn’t know he was semi echoing Keith’s earlier movement as he kicked the basin cabinet lightly
“No. No it’s not. You’re stressed. You’re in a new environment. You’re being forced to go out with me when I look like this. And I couldn’t even keep my shit together long enough to enjoy being out to breakfast with you. It’s fucking pathetic. I should be past all this shit”
“You’re overthinking things again”
Sighing deeply, Lance went to grab his toothbrush out the toilet bag, only to knock the contents out. Sensing the impending tears, he turned his boyfriend towards him, gathering him against him
“Babe. Hey. It’s okay. I’m not mad and you haven’t done anything wrong”
Lance shook his head again
“I’m sorry... God. I feel so fucking incompetent”
Lance wasn’t incompetent. Keith ego saddened to hear their mate talk about himself like that. He wanted to make Lance smile again
“You’re not. Didn’t Dae say something about a fair?”
Again, Lance shook his head
“Sorry... I think I want to lay down for a bit... and I really need to pee. Can... can you get the blankets out the suitcase? They’re in the black one”
“And you’ll be okay?”
“I’m going to pee, then I’ll be out”
Kissing Lance’s hair, Keith found himself more anxious over Lance than the thought of seeing his father’s grave. Maybe Lance was more tired from the day before than he was letting on
“Alright. I’ll be waiting”
When Lance came shuffling out the bathroom, he made straight for Keith. Keith having covered the top of the hotel bed with their three blankets, the bottom one acting as the sheet between them and the crappy bedding below. Lifting the corner back, his boyfriend climbed in beside him. Shoes and all. Lance had to be dead tired to not fight him over his shoes, which had kind of become part of Keith’s daily job. Laying himself against him, Lance rested his head on Keith’s chest, arm snaking around him. Somehow the feeling that came to mind was akin to missing that bottom step and terror flooring you for a moment as your stomach dropped. When Lance started crying, Keith could only let him cry it out. He’d gotten used to Lance having more emotions than he thought possible for a vampire. Lance’s motto seemed to be “sometimes you just need to cry it out”. Still. It sucked. They were so far from their friends. So far from home... and the hard bit was yet to come.
    *
Falling asleep Keith, Lance carefully pried himself off his boyfriend. He felt safer for being in the hotel room, and disoriented from how hard he’d seemed to nap. Creeping to the bathroom, then back into their room, Lance mentally sighed to himself over his emotions. He was being so dumb. Keith needed him... None of this... he couldn’t break down now. Taking his phone off the bedside table, the vampire crept back into the bathroom. He’d already talked to Keith, explaining that he didn’t get what was going on at all... Yet he wasn’t sure that Keith believed him. His people hating boyfriend had offered to take him to the markets on for Easter. That wasn’t Keith’s thing. That was Keith grasping at straws and trying to find a way to make him happy again.
The call took a long time to answer, Krolia’s voice happy as Lance wondered if he was annoying her
“Hey, Lance! How are you?! Did you and Keith arrive safely, I swear that boy never thinks to let me know he’s okay”
They’d sent a message to group chat, and that was about it. With some small unpacking, they’d both been too tired for phone calls and any form of in-depth conversation
“Sorry, Krolia. Yeah, we got here okay. If this is a bad time, I can call back”
“No. Not at all. Is everything okay? I mean, I’m thrilled you called, but I’m confused as to why”
That stung a little. He hadn’t spoken to Krolia all that much since Keith turned...
“I won’t keep you long. I have a question, and I think you’re about the only one who understands what it’s like to be pregnant”
He would have turned straight to Mami if she’d been alive. He felt like he really needed that maternal support right now. Hearing her voice would have driven home she was safe and she would have teased him for being hopeless
“Shoot away! Are my two grandbabies giving you grief already? I can have a stern talking to them, if they are”
He wanted to reach through the phone and hug Krolia. Keith was absolutely amazing with him, yet he couldn’t fall pregnant. A small snort escaped without him meaning for it to
“They’re fine. Using my bladder as a trampoline and wriggling around in there. I... uh... I was wondering if when you were pregnant with Keith, if you ever felt... scared for no reason”
There was a pause. Lance grateful Krolia was taking the time to think about it
“Sometimes, yes. Especially in the line of work I do... Did something happen?”
So Krolia has only experienced fear when thinking of vampires and werewolves...
“We we’re having breakfast and all of a sudden I got scared. There was nothing there to be scared of. No one else who wasn’t human... but... I feel like I was too care free lately. I didn’t guard my scent. I didn’t think about what would happen had someone caught it. I didn’t think about bringing Keith here and what if there was someone like us here... I didn’t think about it... and I feel... like me not thinking about it is the same as me thinking Keith... is... something less than he was”
Starting to cry, he felt really very stupid for his tears. He treasured Keith. But he’d been running around trailing his scent after him without a thought of the impact. All he’d wanted was to get things done and settle his ego
“Lance, you love that idiot son of mine. I’m sure at the first hint of danger you would have reacted. Is Keith there with you?”
“He’s asleep... I’m sorry for calling... I would have turned to Mami, but...”
“No. No. I’m glad you called. I want to be there for the both of you. Yes, I was scared. But nothing like Keith’s father. The slightest thing and he wanted to rush me off to the emergency department. You’re under a lot of stress. Have you been...?”
Lance shook his head, then remember Krolia couldn’t see him shaking his head
“Not yet. I freaked out and Keith had to take care of me...”
“You’re nearing the end of the pregnancy. Fears happen. I know that all too well. Especially how the insomnia can play on your mind. You’ve both been through so much, and I heard from Curtis that you were looking forward to some alone time with Keith. My opinion is that you let Keith take care of you. He’s strong”
“He’s not that strong when it comes to his dad”
“No, but keeping it in will only make him worry more. He loves you. If anything were to happen to you... well, I feel sorry for whoever crosses you. I believe both of you would sense actual danger”
“How am I supposed to know the difference?!”
“You’ll know. Take these feeling of fear and ignore them. Push them aside. They’re useless. Focus on you and my grand babies. You should be safe there. Coran didn’t mention anything about anyone living there that you should be wary about”
Lance sniffled. Krolia hadn’t given him much of anything useful and it sucked... but she tried in her own way
“Thanks, Krolia. I’m going to go back to Keith now”
“No worries. Let me know how everything goes. You can call me. Anything you two need...”
“Yeah. I will. I... thanks for talking to me...”
“Anytime. I’m your mother too. You can come to me”
Coming out the bathroom, Keith was awake, meaning he’d heard some, if not all, Lance’s side of the phone call. Stopping a few steps into the room, he expected Keith to be angry at him for admitting he hadn’t thought of his precious boyfriend’s safety. He hadn’t thought of anything much when it came to the more important things he should have been almost paranoid about
“Babe... come here”
Holding his arm out, Lance caved instantly as he moved to climb into bed with Keith, his emotions getting the better of him as he started crying again. Krolia wasn’t Mami. She didn’t give advice like Mami did. The vampire craving that maternal touch, that Krolia had only taken the point off of
“That’s it. I’m here... I’m here, let it all out”
“I’m sorry”
Keith gentle ran his fingers through Lance’s hair, hushing him softly
“Shhhh... I’ve got you. I’m okay and you’re okay. It’s okay”
“I miss Mami”
“I know you do, babe. I know. Let it out... let it all out”
He was such a selfish boyfriend, yet Keith loved him anyway. He didn’t deserve the love he felt from Keith, but he did notice that together like this, the fear had mostly gone away. There really was no substitute for cuddles with Keith.

12. I may be able to do gay, transsexual, bisexual, and TF fiction as I do not mind writing said stories as long as it doesn't go past my comfort zone or make me feel extremely uncomfortable. (I'm willing to negotiate but that's all I can do.)
13. I will be working on commission only on the weekends now since I am going to be busy.
So. If you would like to know more about the way that I write and how long it will take please send me a message or note me or comment down below to know more.
Thank you and have a nice day.

Altean!Lance with a twist pt 3
You guys ready for this? Cause I know I’ve been keeping you guys waiting for this for WAAAAAAAAAAAY TOO LONG! and I already have more ideas about this too so be looking for newer parts! They will be shorter but they’re gonna be so cool( at least in my head they will be; that or I’ll just do it all in one go)
And if you guys want a recap of what’s happened so far in this au: part 1- http://starrbomb.tumblr.com/post/161149655919/alteanlance-with-a-twist
Part 2- http://starrbomb.tumblr.com/post/161761439539/altean-lance-with-a-twist-part-2
Now then! Onward to the part you’ve been waiting for! Part 3!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
•So during the corrupted worm hole, everyone gets flown off into different directions; Lance ends up with Pidge, Shiro ends up with Hunk and Keith crashes by himself.
•Pidge is worried sick because Lance isn't answering his comm, audio or video, and Blue won't let her in. She looks around the garbage nebula they found themselves in and immediately starts to work on a dish to contact the others and get help for her friend.
•Lance is totally out of commission, the fight with haggar having drained him and hurting him in more ways than one. So he's conked out for the entire thing. All the while all of the nightmares that have been haunting him since day 1 out there jumbling together and repeating though his head.
•Once everyone gets back on the ship, Shiro and Lance are put in the cryo pods to heal, and everyone has seen Lance’s true form now, since he isn’t even about to revert back to his human form at all.
•Allura has been subtly (aka, not so subtly but no one can figure out why) avoiding Lance’s pod, only getting close whenever Hunk and Pidge asks a question about his progress.
•Finally, when they both come out of the pod shiro reflectively backs away from Lance, giving him a very uncomfortable amount of space.
•Lance is just trying to get his emotions and his shape shifting under control, but everything is just way too raw, too real. He can’t tell if it’s real or if he’s still stuck in those nightmares.
•When Coran tries to touch Lance’s shoulder, tries to bring him out of wherever his mind his, Allura stops him, getting some very confused looks from everyone else.
•Once Lance finally gets a hold back on reality, he gets a quick recap of what happened while he was out cold, to which he thanks Pidge very much for looking after him and making sure that they got back to the castle in one piece. Pidge tried to play it off, saying that he would have done the same for her, to which he can practically feel Allura glaring holes into him.
•Lance knows that he has to explain, especially now that both Allura and Shiro know. His mind wants to shut down like before; run away from the glares and the stares of fear and confusion from everyone. But he knows that they deserve the truth from him. The whole truth.
•Before anyone can ask him any questions, Lance gets up from the floor and starts walking towards the door, getting an aggressive “Lance!” From Allura. He looks back and explains that they should probably move to the lounge before asking any questions, since it’s a long story.
•Once everyone gets comfortable, we’ll almost everyone; since Allura is sitting as far away from Lance as possible and Shiro isn’t even sitting down. He just stands in one of the corners closest to a doorway. Lance takes a few deep breaths, each one shakier than the last.
•He tells them the truth about Haggar being his mother, and being raised to be/ and actually being a Druid for the empire. He explained how he helped his mother and Zarkon take over multiple planets, how he was trained to fight til death and that the only thing that mattered was the survival of the empire. He told them about the dozens, maybe hundreds, of experiments that he went through at the hands of his mother, how he became a great tactical fighter and a powerful Druid. He told them about how while with the empire, he didn’t really feel emotions at all.
•And then he gets to talking about how he got to earth, about his mission there to infiltrate and gain data, as well as search for any lions there. He told them about how the McClains took him in and gave him a home and showed him the first real kindness and love in his life. He talked about how they changed his view on how his and his mother’s’ relationship was really like, how it had destroyed his sense of worth and accomplishment. He told them about how his younger adoptive siblings taught him that magic shouldn’t be used for harm and punishment and cruelty, but rather the opposite. It was because of earth and the McClains that he realized that he didn’t want to be apart of the empire any longer. He refused to continue his mission, and rather instead of joining the garrison to gain information, he joined it so that he would be able to protect his new home from the empire whenever it would arrive to try and take over earth.
•And that’s when voltron happened and he ended up out here and fighting Zarkon and his mother head on. And that's how they got to where they are now, sitting here after going head to head against the two strongest people on the entire universe.
•Everyone just sits there shocked by the whole story of their friend’s life; somewhere along the way Shiro had left his corner and actually sits down next to Lance, watching his face as he recounts all of the cruelty and abuse he had went through for so many years. He watched as Lance cries openly regrets everything he has done in the name of the empire; promising to the others and to himself that while his sins will always hang heavy on his shoulders, he will do his damn best to help take the empire down.
•After his explanation to the others; he expects them to steer clear of him or to outright kick him off the team bc of who he is. And Keith and Allura fill those fears quickly; both of them always giving him a death glare til he leaves the room, or going too hard on him during training.
•But the others are quite the opposite much to Lance’s surprise. Coran continues to give lessons to Lance about Altea, making sure to add in odd tidbits here and there about the trouble that Alfor used to always get into.
•Hunk and Pidge are practically attached to him now, never leaving him alone and making sure that he eats and sleeps and isn’t pushing himself too hard to try and prove his worth (he ~may~ have done the exact thing many times while back at the garrison whenever iverson decided to make an example out of Lance) in training. or anything else.
•With Shiro; he’s not exactly sure what to do about Lance. He doesn’t hate him because of who and where he’s from; but now everytime he looks at Lance’s face, even though it’s always in his human form, he can’t help but see Haggar’s face right there. So whenever they are in the same room, it’s always super awkward between them and neither of them know what to do to fix things between them.
•It goes on like this for days which turn into weeks, and to clear it’s taking a negative effect on Lance; he’ll hide away whenever he isn’t needed, and it’s getting harder and harder for Pidge and Hunk to get him out of his room. Let alone the effect it all has the rest of the team, creating a rift between them causing a Multics of fights between everyone.
•But then during an intense battle with the galra, a battleship fires a magic infused blast at the red lion, who was too busy fighting off drones to notice. But Lance did; and without a second thought he dives in and crashes into the red lion, knocking him out of the line of fire and instead takes the blast himself
•The whole team is horrified at the scream that pierces through their comms as the blue lion gets hit and seems to become electrified for what felt like eternity and then becoming nothing more than a husk of metal.
•Hunk and Pidge are enraged and scared for their friend, who hasn’t responded to them since he got hit, and immediately go all out on the galra with renewed vigor as Shiro takes the time to grab the blue lion and return to the castle, sending out an order to the others to retreat.
•Once everyone was back in the castle and they had wormholes away, Shiro races into the blue lion and finds Lance unconscious in the pilot seat, this human form all but abandoned and scorch marks dance across his armor and had torn open his suit, leaving gashes all about him in various states of depth.
•Shiro only hesitates for a second, before shaking his head and scooping up Lance and racing to the infirmary where the rest of them team along with Allura and Coran have gathered.
•It seems to take them hours to fix his physical wounds and find out what the magic did to him to cause him to stay in what appeared to be a hellish sleep.
•The magic had forced him into a comatose state, where he relives his worst moments of his life, over and over and over again, until his heart or brain can’t keep up anymore and he would die.
•Pidge and Hunk rig the mind melding devices to help them enter his dreams and help free him from the spell, with Coran standing by in case anything were to happen while they are inside his head. So the rest of the paladins and Allura slip on the devices and enter Lance’s nightmares.
•Each of the paladins enter a different memory that Lance is forced to relive over and over again on a loop, and during the first couple of loops all they can do is just stare in disbelief at the horror that was Lance’s life before he came to earth.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dun dun DUUUUUN! Don’t worry I already have some of the fourth part already written, and I’ll hopefully get more done tonight! Please make sure leave comments and stuff cause I’m full of anxiety and I can never tell if people really like my stuff or not.

Voltron postivity masterpost !
,
Sooo…. In the middle of the shitstorm happening after s7 aired, I’m thankful that my dash stayed pretty positive and chill so, first of all, I’d like to thank you guys for being so cool !:)
Tumblr media
I’ve definitely also seen mutuals saying they wanted to spread positivity, and I’ve seen quite a few messages on my dash from people searching for positive blogs and content. So I thought I’d share a few things if it can help. Feel free to add stuff !
1- Positivity projects and events
Project #ThankYouTeamVoltron
@projectthankyouteamvoltron
“ Project #ThankYouTeamVoltron is a fanmade project to show the creators, cast, and other fans, love and support to combat the negative attention that they have been receiving. Use the tag #ThankYouTeamVoltron and @projectthankyouteamvoltron/@TYTeamVoltron on Tumblr and Twitter to let us see what you have to share! “
more info !
Letters for team Voltron
@lettersforvoltron
“Letters for Voltron is a positive space to write letters to Voltron staff, thanking them for their hard work. Write, draw, be positive! Tag @lettersforvoltron in your post and tag it with #lettersforvoltron, so that we can share it on here, but we will also be making a booklet to be given to the show runners for NYCC. We want lots of art, writing, doodles, etc! “
more info !
Video by the Let’s Voltron Podcast
The Let's Voltron Podcast on twitter is trying to get people together to make a thank you video for the cast and crew.
more info !
Under the “read more” : blog recs, curate your dash, create positive content, take a deep breath !
2- Blog recs
I’ve seen fans looking for blogs with positive content, here are a few.
First of, I always recommend the networks, they’re awesome ?! They’re ship-friendly, drama-free, don’t reblog from antis, there are some for a lot of characters  and ships (more or less active depending on the network). Everything is tagged, so you can blacklist any ship you don’t like, or just ships in general if you want to stick to gen content. Honestly, huge thank you to the mods involved in this.
So you have, for example, networks for characters  : @shiroganetwork , @pidgenetwork , @hunk-network, @mcclainetwork , @thealluranetwork ...
networks for ships : @sheithnetwork , @thealluranetwork ...
check their “affiliates and networks” pages to find more. There are quite a lot !
Also good blogs for ships : @fuckyeahsheith ;
and @the-sheith-tag , which just reblogs everything in the sheith tag without the hate !
Good blogs for characters, gen / ship free (but still ship and let ship point of view), drama-free : @fuckyeahkogane , @fuckyeahshirogane
Other individual blogs :
gen : @officiallyvoltron , @heraimisgettinbetter
Sheith / multiship : @dent-de-leon , @arahir , @kcgane , @as-many-times-as-it-takes , @flusteredkeith , @saltyshiro , @belovedsheith , @bellenomura , @prettyboyekeith , @paladin-pile , @malenkamyshka …
And I guess you can add me too !
(if anyone doesn’t want to be listed here please don’t hesitate to send me a message and I’ll remove your blog from the list !!!)
This is just a small selection from the blogs I follow. I’m sure there are many, many others.
Also : have a look at your favorite fanartists’ blogs. Many of them just post drawings and don’t get much involved in fandom drama (or at least not on their art blog). Same goes for people creating gifs (ex : @fudayk )
3- Curate your dash
This is a bit of fandom 101, but it never hurts to share it :
- Here is how to block tags on your dash : https://staff.tumblr.com/post/168546216735/tag-filtering-is-here
There is also xkit, which I so far have not personnally used, but which is pretty well-known as a good tool : https://new-xkit-extension.tumblr.com/
Now, most fan-blogs are pretty good with tagging, and usually, when people rant, they have specific tags for it ; most commonly things like discourse, salt, and / or voltron critical. Often, people also have specific tags for that, just look at how their negative posts are tagged or see if they have their tagging system explained somewhere in their about / bio or in a specific page.
In times like these, having those tags blocked can be a life-savior.
- Don’t hesitate to unfollow blogs that are too negative if that kind of content isn’t for you. More generally, you are 100 % allowed to unfollow blogs when their content are not your thing anymore, for whatever reason. It’s ok, I promise !!!
- Beware if you browse the tags
Honestly, I’m not even setting a foot in the tags right now. There was always hate and cross tagging, and I don’t want to know what it looks like right now. I prefer to get my content from blogs I trust. When I do go into the tags, I tend to block antis on sight, and after a while I see less sh*t.
4- Create positive content !
I’ve occasionally seen people intimidated by the idea of creating content themselves.  They think you have to be a talented artist or writer to do so.
There are some simple things you can do ! For example, sharing screencaps of your favorite moments, and maybe you can (but don’t have to) add a comment about why you liked them. Participate in the projects I have listed in my first part. Write a post about what you enjoyed in s7. It doesn’t have to be long or really analytic !
Memes can be pretty fun, too. Here are a few :
List your top 10 vld ships
voltron ask meme
voltron ask game (sorry @bellenomura, I haven’t completed mine yet and I can’t find the original, so I’m sharing yours).
Don’t worry if you haven’t been tagged or something. Let’s just say I tag you ! :p
Tumblr media
5- Take a deep breath
If fandom drama makes you upset or anxious, remember to take a break. Stay away from tumblr, go take a walk outside, talk to a friend, go to the gym / for a run / to the swimming pool, take care of your pets / garden / potted plants, read a book, play a music instrument, watch something else, look at silly cat videos on youtube, whatever makes you happy. Take care of yourself. Remember that this is literally just a cartoon. There are many other cartoons and series, and then many other things happening in the world. However overwhelming it might sometimes feel when you follow the fandom, this is actually not that important.

Prompt if you want to do it but don’t force yourself: Lance (or any other character) having everyone forget their birthday, sorry I’m just a bit of a sucker for those. Love ya blog by the way ✌️✌️
Hey! Sorry it took me so long to write this!
Hope you like it ❤
“HAPPY BIRTHDAY LANCE!!” His mother all but yelledcompletely waking him up from his deep slumber. He usually didn’t sleep in tillthis hour, but he has been pulling all-nighters the past whole week trying tofinish his assignments, even though it was summer vacation. Those assignmentswere going to determine if he will be in Fighter or Cargo pilot. As till nowhis title was only Pilot.
His 4 older siblings filed into his room with theirfather standing next to his mother, who was holding the cake with the design ofa beach on it, her smile was so wide that her lips almost touched her hair line.
It was his 17th birthday, the last one beforehe was legally declared an adult, which wouldn’t mean much to his familyconsidering he was the youngest and will always be the spoiled one. Not thatanyone minded, his siblings loved him and he loved them. There was neveranimosity about the whole issue.
Lance sat up straight, grinning as he looked around theroom at his family. He will miss them so much when he leaves for Garrison thisyear, possibly more than before. There was something about the upcoming schoolyear that was giving him bad vibes but he pushed it to the back of his mind sohe could enjoy his birthday.
Being the youngest in the McClain household meant thatyour birthday was a national holiday. Anyone who worked would take a day offand since it was already summer vacation everyone would be free to celebrate.
His birthday routine was the sameevery year. The one thing that never changed so he always looked forward to it.It starts off with his family waking him up with a cake (he would have hisalarm off that specific day so he is completely surprised by his family), whichthey then take down to the beach for a small family party, which then turns into lunchat the nearest Shake Shack in the evening and then roller skating with hisfriends at night.
His wish every year? That this never change.
Lance woke up feeling like shit.
Last night Keith kicked his ass in training and he was nowdealing with the aftermath. He shoulders felt like they were wrapped in cotton fromthe inside, which would’ve felt good if it didn’t make moving them so damnhard. His brain felt like it would explode under the pounding headache he seemsto be experiencing. He tried to push the covers off himself but his thighs feellike they were on fire. So he settled into subtly sliding off his bed.
Thiswould’ve worked if the alarms didn’t suddenly blare up causing him to fall off thebed and up his headache tenfold.
Despite his protesting body, he got up and wore his armor.
He ran, tearfully so, to the bridge to see what was going onand was surprised to see Allura standing there with what looks to be stopwatchand an annoyed look on her face.
“If this was a real alarm, you would have killed Voltron.”
Lance went pale as he looked around and noticed thateveryone was there before him.
“You don’t even have your bayard.” Pidge retorted.
He wore his armor in such a hurry he didn’t even registerwhat he was doing. It was all muscle memory.
Allura hadn’t made a pseudo alarm in months, he simply forgot they were a thing.
“Sorry. Long training session yesterday.”
“No it wasn’t.” Keith said, amused “I mean sure I kickedyour ass, but that happens every time.”
“Keith is right Lance. Keith was training with you and yethe was one of the firsts to reach the bridge. After Shiro of course.”
Lance decided that if he talked back it would turn into anargument. His head pounded just thinking about it.
“Sorry.” Lance said as he went to sit in his place.
“Well, now that everyone is here.” Shiro clapped his handsonce to grab everyone’s attention. No one noticed Lance’s wince at the sound. “Letus all go and have breakfast so we can start today’s training.”
Lance stalked behind everyone while massaging his templestrying to ease the pain. At this point, Lance was sure soon this is going to becomea migraine if he didn’t do something about it. He hadn’t had a migraine in solong, he almost forgot what they felt like.
He sat down next to Hunk, who shot him a worried look butsaid nothing. Everyone dug in to the equivalent of pancakes they had stacked in the middle of the table. The conversation ranged in topics but none caughtLance’s attention forcing him to be quiet and stare at his plate.
He nibbled at his pancakes, convincing Hunk he ate as to notdraw attention to himself. He stood up to leave to his room just as Shiro said,“C’mon guys. Clean up and meet me in training room in 15 minutes.”
“Actually Shiro, I was wondering if I could skip today’straining. I don’t think I feel well.” Lance internally cringed at how small hisvoice came out.
“Is it serious?” Shiro said. Lance could decipher the lookShiro was giving him. “Because we really have to do some group training, we haven’tin a while. So if you could manage today, then please don’t skip.”
Lance knew Shiro was concerned and didn’t mean to guiltLance into staying as he didn’t know about Lance’s intrusive thoughts and insecurities about always  not being good enough for the Blue Paladin mantel.
“Nevermind, it’s not. I can handle it.” Lance said, faking hisupbeat voice while trying to forget about his upcoming migraine. “Catch youguys at the training room.”
Lance went out of the kitchen to get away from the noise. Hestarted thinking about the possible reasons for this incredible bad attitude heseemed to have; He usually had an alarm set early in the morning where he wouldtake a hot shower before the day starts to ease his muscles into a long day.
He took out his phone and looked at the his clock settingsto see that the alarm was switched off. Weird. Lance thought. He lookedaround more and found the reason. His blood ran cold as he looked at the date. 28thof July. How could it be his birthday already? And better yet, why has noone said anything?
He wouldn’t have made a big deal about it, since they were in space and all, if it wasn’t forthe fact that they celebrated Pidge’s birthday a couple months ago and eventhrew a small party for Shiro before as he hated big celebrations. Lance madeit his mission to know what everyone liked so he wouldn’t do something that mightmake them uncomfortable.
This all just proves that they kept track of the dates. So theothers should’ve known it was Lance’s birthday. He remembers mentioning it many times. He didn’t remember himselfas he always tends to not think about it as to not ruin any possible surprises anyone might have planned. Itwas what he did back home and just kept doing it in space.
If he felt like shit before, this was a whole new level offuck-shit-ory of feelings setting in his stomach. They didn’t care. Why wouldthey? Lance has been the one to make all the effort in getting to know histeammates. The others put effort too, just not with Lance.
He reached the training room the same time as Hunk.
“Hey buddy.” Hunk waved at Lance. “You don’t look so good. Didyou sleep last night?”
“What?… Oh yeah. I did. Thanks for asking, Hunk” Lancestayed where he was, giving Hunk a chance to notice that Yes.Something is wrong.
“Well in that case. C’mon! Lets kick Keith’s butt!” Hunksaid.
“Yeah!!” Pidge yelled from the other side of the room. Godknows how she even heard what they said as she had her headsets on.
Lance walked behind them whilekeeping a forced smile as to not show how much this actually hurt him.
He didn’t make it two minutes in the simulation before he receiveda major kick and decided to excuse himself to his room. He felt nauseous andthe new injury to his stomach certainly didn’t help. How could your head and stomachhurt at the same time?
He went to his room, locking the door behind him as hereally wanted to be alone right now, closed the lights as his eyes were becomingsensitive due to his headache and threw himself on his back on his bed andstared into the dark.
His mind drifted off to what he could be doing on hisbirthday if he was home. His family waking him up and going to the beach forthe party, lunch and then possibly a bar this time instead of roller skating. His siblings have told him ever since he was 16 that the year turns 18 they would be in Cuba so they could take him to a bar to have his first legaldrink.
He never felt as homesick as he did at that moment. What he wouldn’tgive to go back to his family just for a day to tell them how much he missed them, how much they truly meant to him and how, no matter how old he gets, he willalways be his mother’s little dolphin.
His curled in on himself and imagined the sounds of thewaves as he closed his eyes, which did nothing to stop his free-falling tear.
Maybe if he stayed in this position long enough, he will wake up onhis bed back on earth.
Got any prompts you’d like me to write?
Feelfree to drop by and send it ❤

me, checking out a voltron blog: hm, i wonder what they’re like...?
their header: “#he’s looking at keith”
me: ...really? i mean-
me: a TRUE shipper would know the quote is “#he is looking at keith” not “he’s”
me: :D
AKA; HELLO, YES, IN LIGHT OF RECENT EVENTS THERE IS GOING TO BE A BIG SHIFT ON MY BLOG!
i have always been discourse free and hate free and clearly loving lotor ships, as those of you who know me know, but from this day forth, while i am planning to remain discourse free aside from this post and any replies about this post, i want you all to clearly know my stance on the discourse: i am very strongly pro shaladin. and not just for the stance. i ship sheith. it is fantastic and shiro makes keith so happy. why don’t i have a problem with sheith? 1) i don’t see them as having more than a 3 year age gap (considering it was confirmed that shiro had just graduated when he went for the kerberos mission, keith was not a first year when he dropped out, and the GG is most likely a 4 year institution/uni) 2) i see them as both adults, even when they were at the garrison 3) i don’t think age gaps, even if they did have one, are inherently unhealthy as long as both parties are adults. 4) no, i don’t think and have never thought they are related. i’ve posted a couple sheith posts before, and had it on my ship list for months, but now it will be appearing on my blog on a more regular basis. feel free to block the tag #sheith if you do not wish to see that, along with any other ship tags you may not want to see, because i will most likely post about some ships i don’t ship as well, and who knows... maybe i’ll hop on some new other ship trains too. I understand I may lose followers for this, but I will be instead gaining friends.
I AM LOOKING FOR NEW MUTUALS/FRIENDS WHO:
are pro shaladin***
post sheith
post lotor and the generals
post galra
post about any of the girls in vld
post about/have original characters
reblog/make art
reblog/make icons
reblog/make edits
make sicc memes™
***required, everything else is just bonus :D
PLEASE EITHER REBLOG THIS + TAG WHAT YOU POST -OR- LIKE THIS + REPLY WITH WHAT YOU POST -OR- INSTANT MESSAGE (not ask) ME A HELLO + TELL ME WHAT YOU POST IF YOU’D RATHER DO IT PRIVATELY ...AND I’LL CHECK YOUR BLOG OUT! if i like your stuff, i will follow you/follow you back, and i will try to message you too so we can become mutuals... and friends!:D
(notes/faq under the cut, reading is optional, but it may answer some questions)
things to note:
make sure that you either allow IM messages from everyone, or if not, that you follow me first so that i can message you and we can start talking :D
i will NEVER condone harassment of real people and their families/children over a fictional ship, there are a couple ships in voltron that do make me uncomfortable, and i just ignore it, because i know and understand other people don’t share my headcanons and may see those characters differently than i do, so they’re just my NOTPs.
while i prefer voltron-centric blogs, you don’t have to be voltron only, but please be voltron heavy
i do ship klance, but i am much more heavy into multiship, aliens, galra and rare pairs, so even if you have #klance blacklisted, i’m still open to being mutuals and you’ll only be missing select amount of my content
i carefully tag all of my content, so anything you blacklist, you’ll be good!
i post mostly original content! anything from art, to memes to edits!
i know i may get hate now, but this blog is discourse free and hate free, any hate will simply be deleted, or respectfully replied to with kindness
no, i do not support adult/minor relationships, and if you are an adult attracted to minors, please never interact with me or my posts ever
i’m not mass blocking all antis or saying you can’t follow me/interact with my posts, but i won’t follow you back or reblog from you if you are anti, and if you send me or any of my friends hate or harassment, you will not be welcome here
while i only actively ship sheith in the shaladin umbrella, i am open to following people who ship anything as long as you are pro shaladin, i don’t need to ship your otp to appreciate it
while i’m mostly looking for shaladin/sheith mutuals on this specific post, you don’t have to ship shaladin for me to follow you in general, neutral/ship-free/hate free and pro shaladins who don’t ship it are all great too, as long as you don’t identify as ‘anti’ or harass anyone for what they ship, i’m cool with you! and you’re welcome to message me too :)
this includes ex-antis, if you drop the label and change your ways, whether you switched to neutral or pro, you’re fine too!

Rules | Mod Information
Hello, amazing people this is Mod CJ and Mod Jay here and we refer to ourselves as Partners in Crime!! Mod CJ here is the Leader along with being a Writer!! Mod Jay is the Co. Leader, Writer and Organizer!! If you are/have any questions about rules, the MasterList, or the blog please ask Mod Jay!!
Well here’s all the information that you’ll need to know about Partners in Crime and requesting/asking!! Bye bye, till next time Nerdlings and Lovlies!!
Mod CJ | Get to Know!
Mod CJ’s Origin blog?
@queennerd-love is my origin blog that has now been reformed into a shared blog!!
Mod CJ’s writing style?
My writings are obvious, descriptive and a bit sarcastic. I write in a very humorous, understandable and joyful way that is sure to have you laughing. If you’re looking for something that’s easily laughable but kept sweet and long lasting I’m the perfect mod for the job!!
Mod CJ’s strengths and weaknesses?
Fluff(sweet/happy) is obviously my strong suit. I'm great at head canons. I've never tried angst, but since I'm overly descriptive who knows??? Other than kryptonite my weaknesses include, NSFW, certain AUs (I try my best) villains (Shocking, right?)  and classes other than 1A (Sorry 1B hero lovers)
Extra Information about Mod CJ?
I am anti-social extrovert. I love, love, love music and people say that I'm too smart for my own good. I'm either overly apologetic or really don't care about things. There’s no in between. I have a passion for video games such as Overwatch and Minecraft on PlayStation. FPS is my religion and creativity is my soul.
Mod Jay | Get to Know!
Mod Jay’s Origin blog?
@alumnie is my origin blog that was once just a voltron appreciation blog but is now reformed into a Boku No Hero Academia/ My Hero Academia imagines blog!!
Mod Jay’s writing style?
My writings are sweet, drawn-out, and a bit emotional. I write in a very empathetic, relatable and realistic way that is sure to have you ‘in your feels’. If you’re looking for something that pulls on your heart strings and is very detailed then I’m just the right mod for the duty!!
Mod Jay’s strengths and weaknesses?
I am most comfortable writing fluff(sweet/happy) or angst(sad). Writing scary, or smut(Nsfw) is not my speciality but I can try. I write better when the ask is for a imagine instead of head cannons and when given the chance of open creativity. I normally capture the essence of emotions easily but I can not write for characters that don’t have a lot of background information.
Extra Information about Mod Jay?
I am a sweet, and supportive person that loves to write and talk. I’m very optimistic, giggly, and energetic. My ideas are often jumbled and will get scratched down into simple writings. I am almost always smiling and happy, I also catch onto people’s emotions and feelings quite easily; observant and caring. I like free roam of creativity, but also like pleasing others with my pieces(writings).

How about a fic in which Keith really wants Hunk to send him cookies but is an idiot about asking for them?
“… and so, in light of the new intel gained by our scouting team, it is our suggestion that the timetable for this mission be pushed back. Galra troop movement has been unpredictable as of late, and based on the current coordinates of…”
Hunk felt his eyelids drooping. He shook his head, trying to jar himself into alertness, and propped his chin on his hands. It wasn’t that he disliked sitting in on briefings with the Blade of Marmora; they always had useful information, and Hunk knew Team Voltron’s pursuit of Zarkon would be dead in the water without the help of the Blade.
But Kolivan was boring.
The guy had, like, one setting, and that setting was “serious business,” and Hunk had learnd to tune out most “serious business” voices back at the Garrison. And no, “serious business” voices didn’t mean all people who said things in a serious way–he listened to Shiro, after all. But Kolivan made it sound like everything he said was of grave importance, even when he was just reading off a list of coordinates, and Hunk couldn’t make himself focus. There were so many things he’d rather be doing, like helping Pidge bypass the security protocols on the newest piece of Galra tech they’d swiped in their latest raid, or perfecting the space goo cheesecake he’d almost gotten to taste like key lime pie before it burst into flames, or–
“Psst. Hunk.”
Hunk startled. “Huh? What?”
“Shh!”
“I wasn’t doing anything!” He glared over his shoulder at Lance, who was leaning up against Hunk’s chair, frowning.
“You were drooling!” Lance whispered. “And muttering to yourself. Allura keeps looking back here like she wants to strangle you, man, at least try and pay attention.”
“I am paying attention!”
“You were not! You were thinking about that stupid space cheesecake again.”
“Hey, my space cheesecake is not stupid–”
“Guys,” Pidge hissed from over the arm of her own chair. “Quiet.”
“Alright, sorry.” Hunk dropped his chin in his hand again and sighed. On screen, Kolivan was still droning on and, to his left, Keith stood straight and somber, unruffled by the lack of attention his fellow–erm, former–teammates were showing the Blade leader. Hunk smiled at Keith and raised his hand in a little wave, then winced and drew it back to his chest, remembering Kolivan could still see them. But then, either Hunk was imagining things, or the tiniest hint of a smile twitched at the corner of Keith’s mouth.
Hunk missed Keith. They all did. It was another reason Hunk had trouble focusing during Blade briefings: usually, after Kolivan was done strategizing with Shiro and the Alteans, he’d let Keith have the channel for a few ticks so the paladins could say hi. Keith barely ever got a word in edgewise during these conversations, buried under a wash of their own eager chatter, but Hunk could tell he didn’t mind, was content to listen to the voices competing to tell him this or that bit of news. He was always patient, and always hesitant to switch off the channel when they were done.
Keith missed them, too. That much was clear to Hunk. He just didn’t know what to do about it.
“If that’s all the business we have today,” Allura said to Kolivan on screen, “I think a few of the paladins are…somewhat impatient to speak with their former teammate.”
Hunk grimaced. He definitely wasn’t imagining the irritated look Allura shot at him.
“Very well,” Kolivan said, stepping out a frame, so that Keith could move front and center.
“Hey, guys,” Keith said with a small smile.
“Keith! Hi!”
“Hey, man! How have you–”
“Keith! Listen! I have to tell you about—”
Keith’s eyes widened, mouth opening and closing, not sure who to respond to first.
Shiro laughed. “Alright, okay, hold on. One at a time.” He stepped forward with his arms crossed over his chest. “Hey, Keith. How are you doing?”
“Hey, no fair!” Lance whined. “How come you get to go first?”
“Because he’s Shiro,” Pidge said. “Duh.”
“I’m doing okay,” Keith said, ignoring the argument in favor of Shiro’s attention. “I’m being sent on more missions now.”
“That’s good. That means they trust you.”
“Longer ones, too. So if you guys don’t hear from me for a while, don’t send a search party.” He shrugged, playing it off as a joke, but Hunk didn’t miss the flicker of unease in his eyes. He looked…lonely.
“As long as you’re being careful,” Shiro said.
“I am,” Keith said. “As careful as I can be, under the circumstances.”
Hunk’s heart clenched. He needed to cheer up Keith, and he needed to do it now.
He had an idea. He knew one thing that was proven to cheer everyone up.
“I’ll be right back!” he yelled, and dashed out of the room. When he returned, he was carrying a ridiculously large platter of space cookies.
“Did you just make these?” Lance asked, immediately grabbing a handful of cookies and shoving one of them into his mouth.
“No, of course not,” Hunk said, passing the platter around. “I was saving them for after dinner, but I wanted to show Keith. Look!” He held up one of the cookies for Keith to see. “No powering a teleduv with these babies!”
Keith laughed, but it was strained, and the longing in his eyes only grew worse. “That’s awesome, Hunk. Tell me about them?”
Hunk frowned. Telling Keith about the cookies was only going to make him want one, and he was supposed to be making Keith happier, not feel more isolated. He shook his head. “Nuh uh, no way, a chef never reveals his secrets. You’re just going to have to come get one.”
“Oh.” Keith glanced down and rubbed at the back of his neck. “I don’t think that’s possible right now.”
“I mean, not right this minute. But soon, right?”
“Kolivan is set to visit the castle in a few quintents, but I’ll be on a mission.” Keith’s shoulders slumped, and Hunk almost felt like crying. “I’m sorry, you guys. I just…I want to visit, but I…I can’t right now. I know you don’t understand, but–”
“We do understand, Keith,” Shiro spoke up, smiling gently at the screen. “You do what you need to do. We just miss you, that’s all.”
“Yeah,” Keith said. “I miss you too.”
After another few moments, Kolivan called for Keith, so they said their goodbyes and switched off the screen. “Well, quiznak,” Hunk muttered. “That was awful.”
“What are you talking about?” Lance said through a mouthful of cookie. “These are delicious.”
“I’m not talking about the cookies, Lance, I’m talking about Keith. Didn’t you see him? He’s miserable!”
“He did seem a little off,” Pidge said. “I know how badly he wanted to join the Blade, but they’re really not going easy on him, are they?”
“Guys,” Shiro called from the doorway. “You coming to the training deck?”
“We’ll be there in a minute, Shiro!” Hunk called back, and waited until Shiro was out the door before bringing Lance and Pidge closer. “Okay, huddle up, gang. We have to get that boy some cookies, stat. Operation Emergency Cookie Delivery is a go.”
Lance rolled his eyes. “And how, exactly, are we going to get cookies into the Blade of Marmora’s heavily fortified headquarters?”
“You heard Keith, Kolivan will be visiting the castle soon. We can just…”
“What, walk up to the totally humorless purple alien and say, ‘Hey, can you please give these cookies to our friend?’ He’s not gonna do it, and I don’t know about you guys, but I don’t want a lecture on how there’s no time for shenanigans from that dude. I’ve gotten enough of those from Allura.” Lance shifted. “And Shiro, lately,” he said, quieter.
“Wait a minute,” Pidge said, her eyes lighting up. “We don’t have to give them to Kolivan. We just have to make sure they get back with Kolivan.”
“Huh?”
“We can sneak them onto his ship!”
Hunk beamed. “Oh, yes, we can sneak around like secret agents, and wear disguises, and have walkie talkies, and–”
“Hold on,” Lance said. “We could get in big trouble for this.”
“Since when have you cared about getting into trouble?”
“I don’t! But honestly, we’re going to do all this just to get cookies to Keith?”
“Unless you have something better to do,” Pidge said. “You could go train with Shiro. I’m sure you can find something else for him to yell at you about.”
Lance scowled, and Hunk knew Pidge had gotten under his skin. “Fine. I’m in.”
“Alright!” Hunk clapped Lance on the back. “So what’s the plan?”
*
The Plan, unfortunately, did not include walkie talkies or disguises, which Hunk thought was a huge bummer. It did, however, include a working map of the castle Pidge devised to show everyone’s location at any given moment. Hunk hurried down an empty hallway with the package full of cookies under his arm and watched the little yellow blip on the screen mirror his location. “Are you sure everyone’s where this thing says they are?”
“Positive,” Pidge replied over the comm in his ear. “Allura and Coran–pink and white on your screen–are on the maintenance level, and Shiro and Kolivan–black and purple–are in the Black Lion’s hangar. You’re home free.”
“I thought I’d have a much cooler job than this,” Lance chimes in from his post in the security room. “Like maybe ‘the bodyguard’ or ‘the muscle’. Watching empty rooms is boring.”
“You’re not supposed to be watching the empty rooms, Lance, you’re supposed to be watching the ones with people in them.”
“Well, those are boring, too! All anyone is doing is talking.”
“Shut up, you guys, I’m trying to focus,” Hunk said, following the map the last few steps to the hangar where Kolivan’s ship was supposedly parked. “Okay. I’m here. Now how do I get in?”
“Okay, so the hangar is locked to everyone but those with the access code, which only Allura and Coran and the owner of the ship have for security reasons,” Pidge said. “However, I was able to devise an algorithm to cycle through all the possible combinations with regards to frequency of use and–”
“If I have to listen to you tech-babble, I’m turning my comm off,” Lance said.
“Ugh, fine. Hold the device on your wrist up to the access pad. It’ll display the code, and if it’s correct, you should just be able to walk in.”
“Here goes nothing.” Hunk did as he was told, and the hangar door slid opened with a hiss. “Nice, Pidge! I’m in.”
“Great! Do you see Kolivan’s ship?”
“Yep, I’m there.” Hunk ran his hand over the side of the ship. “Now if I could just figure out how to get the door–” Suddenly, the blips on the map in Hunk’s hand started moving, and moving fast. “Hey, Lance, what do you see in those cameras, buddy?”
“Hold on a second, I’m–” Lance inhaled sharply. “Uh oh.”
“What do you mean, ‘uh oh’?”
“I don’t, uh, see anyone. They’re all gone.”
“Oh, sweet quiznak,” Hunk said, the blips on the map starting to descend on his yellow dot.
“Abort, abort, drop the cookies and get out of there!” Pidge yelled.
“Uh, okay, I’ll just, uh…” Hunk spun around in place, panicking. “How did this happen, how do they even know I’m in here?”
“You must’ve tripped some kind of alarm, a motion sensor or something Kolivan programmed into the ship.”
“Boy, those Galra think of everything, don’t they,” Hunk muttered.
“Hunk!”
“Okay, okay, but I can’t just leave these here. They’ll never get to Keith!”
“Forget about Keith!” Lance said. “Unless you want to deal with an angry Galra, you better get out of there!”
“Okay, fine, I’m–”
“Yellow Paladin!”
Hunk froze at the menacing growl, and turned slowly towards the door, swallowing hard as he faced the aforementioned angry Galra.
“What are you doing with my ship?” Kolivan snarled.
“Nothing!” Hunk squeaked. “Nothing, I promise, I was only trying to–”
“What is that package in your hand?”
“Oh god. Okay, I know what this looks like. This looks like a bomb, doesn’t it? Oh god it looks like a bomb. I should’ve just put them in a paper bag, nobody ever put a bomb in a paper bag–”
“A bomb?” Kolivan stepped closer and yanked Hunk forward by the arm, claws digging into Hunk’s shoulder. “Are you trying to sabotage my ship?”
“No, no, no! I said it’s not a bomb! Oh quiznak this is bad. I’m gonna be sick. I’m gonna throw up.”
“Hunk!” Allura sprinted into the hangar, Shiro trailing close behind, her eyes wide and her mouth agape. “What is the meaning of this?”
“Oh god,” Hunk said, “I’m so sorry.”
“Everyone just calm down,” Shiro said, moving between Hunk and Kolivan and placing a firm hand on Kolivan’s chest, forcing him to let go of Hunk and take a step back, for which Hunk was eternally grateful. “I’m sure there’s an explanation for all of this. Hunk?”
“Um. Yes. There is a…a perfectly good explanation.” Hunk took the package and unwrapped it, revealing the box of cookies inside. “See?”
Kolivan looked into the package and frowned. “Are these some sort of miniature tracking devices?”
“Tracking de…what? No! No, they’re cookies.”
“Cookies?”
“Cookies?” Shiro asked
“I’m afraid I don’t…understand,” Allura said.
All three of them looked to Hunk, who bowed his head and sighed.
“Okay, so, I made cookies, right?” he said. “And Keith, he saw them the other day, and he looked so sad! So I wanted to, you know, give him some cookies. So he would be…less sad.”
Shiro cocked his head. “So you were going to sneak them onto Kolivan’s ship?”
“In my defense, we were really, really bored, and it seemed like a good idea at the time.”
Allura raised an eyebrow. “We?”
“Oh yeah, Pidge and Lance were totally in on this.”
“Hunk!” Pidge yelled in his ear, at the same time Lance gasped, “Hey!”
“Yep, totally in on it, 100% not just my idea, whatever trouble I’m in they should be in, too.”
“Sellout,” Pidge muttered.
“Youre toast, big man,” Lance fumed.
Kolivan was still staring down at the plate of cookies, his brow furrowed. “So this is a gift of food for your former Red Paladin?”
“Uh, yeah, I guess,” Hunk said.
Kolivan nodded and took the package from Hunk’s hands. “Then I will deliver it to him.”
“Really?” Hunk grinned.
“It is a practical gift. He is little, and hungers often. He needs nourishment.”
“Oh, I’m definitely saving that one,” Lance snickered.
“I’m not sure if you heard that clearly,” Hunk said into the comm. “All I had to do was ask him to take the cookies to Keith, which I remember someone saying–”
“What? I can’t hear you!” Lance said. “The comm’s going dead! Hunk? Hunk? Are you still there?”
“Coward,” Pidge said as the line went quiet.
*
Later the next night, Hunk was lying on his back in his bunk, drifting off to sleep, when his communication devise buzzed. He groaned and rolled over, smacking around for it and squinting at the screen in the dark.
Control room. –K
Hunk shuffled out of bed, into his lion slippers and down the hallway to the main control room, where a light was blinking on his personal bridge display. He sat down and pushed the button with a yawn, and Keith’s face appeared on his screen. He looked tired, worn down, wearing just a thin t-shirt instead of his Blade armor, but he was all in one piece. Hunk supposed that was all they could ask for, at this point. “Hey, buddy,” he said with a sleepy smile.
“Hey,” Keith said, glancing over his shoulder. “I can’t talk long.”
“Did you get the cookies?”
Keith’s cheeks tinted red, and he scowled. “Yes, Hunk, I got the cookies.”
“Sweet.”
“Did you just…walk up to Kolivan and hand him these?” Keith sounded a little awestruck, and more than a little embarrassed.
“Well, no, not exactly,” Hunk said. “First we tried to sneak them onto his ship, but then we got caught, and I think he thought it was a bomb, so everyone freaked out for a minute…”
“Hunk!”
“But they turned out okay?”
Keith nodded, then reached for something off screen. When he sat back up, he had a cookie in his hand. “Last one.”
Hunk blinked. “You ate them all already?”
Keith’s face went even redder. “Yeah, well, it was a long mission. I was hungry.”
“Just like Kolivan said,” Hunk said under his breath.
“What?”
“What?”
“Nevermind, I…” Keith rubbed at his eyes, and Hunk could tell he was fading fast. “I just wanted to share the last one. With you. I know that sounds corny or whatever but I just…wanted to.”
All of the sudden, Hunk felt his eyes start filling with tears. “Yeah, Keith,” he said, his voice going thin as he sniffled. “I get it.”
“Don’t you dare!” Keith said, and his laugh was a little wet, like he was about to cry, too. “If you start, then I’ll start.”
“Alright, alright, I’m cool,” Hunk said, wiping a hand over his eyes. “I’m just glad you liked them.”
“They don’t taste like glass at all,” Keith said, deadly serious, and Hunk threw his head back with laughter. “What?”
“Nothing, man. I just miss you.”
“Yeah,” Keith said. “I miss you, too.”
But the lost, lonely look in his eyes was a little dimmer, and Hunk felt the vice around his chest loosen an inch or two. Sometimes it felt like there wasn’t much he could do to make his teammates’ hearts lighter, but when he could, he was so glad to do it. Even if it was something so little, like this. He was starting to realize even the little things were enough.
Keith ate his last cookie, and they said their goodnights, and on the way back to his bunk, Hunk decided he might give the space goo cheesecake recipe just one last try.

Soulbound
Read it on AO3!
It was supposed to be a straightforward visit to a peaceful planet: Land on Vordus-8.  Attend the new Prime Minister’s inauguration.  Officially induct Vordus-8 into the Coalition.  Go sightseeing, time permitting.  The Galra weren’t supposed to show up and attack unexpectedly.  Lance wasn’t supposed to have a brush with death.  And Pidge certainly wasn’t supposed to make a split-second decision that would change the course of both of their lives.
The day after the inauguration found Team Voltron picnicking in an open, grassy area high in the mountains, next to a cliff overlooking distant forests, rivers, and lakes.  The view was breathtaking, to be sure, but without her Paladin armor and the jet pack that came with it, Pidge couldn’t help being wary of the drop.
The sun was shining, the Vordian sky was vivid teal, and the temperature could not have been more perfect as the Paladins and their companions enjoyed the actual, non-goo meal Hunk had prepared.  As Keith bit into a sandwich, the jagged, cryptically curling crimson soulmark all down his right arm began to glow faintly.  “What did you put in this to make it so tasty, Hunk?” he demanded, staring at the sandwich as though suspicious of its deliciousness.
Hunk shrugged.  “Honestly, I’m not sure.  Some sort of spicy Vordian pepper-like vegetable, something that Vordian chef called murglak, that tasty shredded steak we had at the banquet, and a splash of my special sauce.”  He tried to brush off the compliment, but from the faint yellow gleam from beneath his right sleeve, it was clear he was pleased with himself.  Pidge decided she had to try one of the sandwiches herself and was not disappointed.
The afternoon passed in a similarly leisurely manner as the Paladins and their companions enjoyed a day free of fighting and stress.  As the shadows lengthened, Lance stood, wandering toward the cliffside.  “Look at that,” he breathed, beckoning the others over.
Pidge came to stand beside him, trying to figure out what he was talking about.  “So… what are we looking at?”
“That.”  Lance pointed at the horizon, and Pidge caught her breath.  Although billions of sunsets happened every day throughout the universe, she had to admit that this one was especially breathtaking, with Vordus-8’s greenish sun turning the clouds vivid shades of blue, green, and gold and lighting up the countryside far below them with mellow fire.
“It’s beautiful,” Allura murmured.
“Not as beautiful as you, Princess,” Lance said, waggling his eyebrows and completely ruining the mood.  Pidge jabbed him with her elbow, telling herself it was because Allura and Keith were on their way toward a relationship and she didn’t want Lance to mess that up; it certainly had nothing to do with her own feelings.
“Ow,” Lance complained, rubbing his side and giving her an offended look.  “What was that for?”
Pidge rolled her eyes, opening her mouth to respond, but then motion in the distance caught her eye.  “Wait, what’s that?”
“Hey, don’t change the subject!” Lance said indignantly.
“Shush,” Pidge insisted.  “Does anyone else see that?”
The other Paladins squinted at the horizon.  “I can’t tell what it is,” said Hunk ruefully.
“They,” Keith corrected.  “There’s two -- no, three -- five of them?”
Allura held up a hand to block out the blinding light of the sunset.  “I think they’re getting closer…”  Suddenly, her eyes widened.  “Everyone get back from the edge!”
Keith and Hunk immediately backed up while Pidge squinted at the ever-enlarging dots.  “What are they?”
“Galra fighters.”  Allura’s tone was urgent.  “We need to get back to the Castle, now.”
Pidge nodded and took a step back, and later was very glad she did.  The fighters began blasting at them, and the Paladins raced toward the cover of the trees.  “Coran!” Allura yelled into her communicator.  “You need to bring the Castle to our location as quickly as possible!  The Galra are here!”
Suddenly, with a loud bang and a crumbling sound, a chunk of the cliff began to fall, revealing that they had spent the afternoon on an outcropping of the mountainside.  As luck would have it, Lance was on the chunk of falling rock.  He leaped for the new edge, his determined expression transforming into one of panic as it became clear he wasn’t going to make it.
Pidge acted without thinking.  As Lance passed the apex of his trajectory and began to fall in earnest, she reached out, managing to grasp his left hand in her own.  As their palms met, she felt a warm tingle race up her arm, but she couldn’t focus on that now.  Yanking with all her might, she managed to pull him toward her, changing his path enough that instead of falling to an early death, he crashed straight into her, sending both of them tumbling in a confused tangle of arms and legs.
The Castle soared into view, its defenses blasting at the small Galra force, and Pidge and Lance hastily extricated themselves from each other.  As they sprinted toward the Castle, Pidge was hyper-conscious of Lance’s shock, tension, and residual terror tinged with relief.  She glanced over at him to make sure he was okay, and her heart sank as her gaze landed on his left arm.  The arm that should have lacked a soulmark until he chose to soulbind with someone.  The arm that was now clearly marked with a very familiar curling, vine-looking pattern.
There was no use denying it to herself.  Pidge recognized that soulmark -- she had traced it up and down her right arm countless times, wondered who she would soulbind with, imagined it adorning the left arm of any number of her crushes.  Since meeting her team at the Garrison, she had often imagined it on the arm of a certain rakish fighter pilot.  Never once had she suspected it would ever actually appear there, and especially not by accident.  It can’t be true, she thought stubbornly.  There’s no way that’s my soulmark.  She rolled up her left sleeve to prove it to herself, only to find her fears confirmed in the form of a blue wave-like soulmark swirling from her left palm up into her sleeve.  For better or worse, she and Lance were soulmates now.
“Lance, I’m sorry!” Pidge repeated for what must have been the millionth time.
Lance turned away, trying to ignore the flood of emotions.  Why did girls have so many of them?  Guilt, regret, desperation, and anger, sure, but also a tinge of delight -- some part of Pidge was very happy indeed to have soulbound with Lance, and Lance felt disgust at having been manipulated creeping at his throat.
The trouble with being soulmates was that she could sense his emotions as well. “I promise, I really didn’t mean to soulbind with you!” Pidge cried, and Lance knew if he turned around to look at her, he’d see the tears in her eyes.
“Maybe you should have thought of that before taking away my choice in the matter!”
And suddenly, anger overtook Pidge’s mess of feelings.  “What did you want me to do, let you fall to your death?”
“I don’t know, okay?”  Lance stood, annoyed with the conversation, the whole soulmate thing, and especially Pidge.  “I don’t want to even look at you right now.”  He stalked from the lounge, his sense of Pidge’s emotions slightly lessening as he left her presence.  Despite the increased distance and the walls between them, both literal and metaphorical, he could feel her anguish all the way back to his room.
Despite their best efforts, the soulbond between Pidge and Lance continued to strengthen, and they began actively avoiding each other to avoid having to deal with the other’s emotions.  Unsurprisingly, the rest of the team picked up on this, and so it was that the next less busy quintant about an Earth week later found a very concerned Allura at Pidge’s door.
“What do you want?”  Pidge’s voice came out much more hostile than she had intended.
“I want to know what’s going on between you and Lance,” Allura replied without preamble.  “May I come in?”
Pidge huffed but opened the door wide enough to admit the Black Paladin.  “Fine.  Make yourself at home.”
Allura carefully climbed over the piles of clothing and dismantled technology to perch on the edge of Pidge’s bunk.  “Shiro explained your soulmarks to me when I first met all of you, but that doesn’t explain why you and Lance have been so at odds lately.”
“It’s because usually people choose to soulbind.”  Pidge tried and failed to keep the bitterness out of her voice.  “With Lance and me, it happened by accident, so while we can pick up on one another’s emotions and even hear a few of each other’s thoughts, that doesn’t mean we have to like it.”
Allura proved to have good intuition even without being Pidge’s soulmate.  “You have… feelings for him, don’t you?”
Pidge nodded miserably.  “He hates me now, though.  If I ever had a chance with him, it disappeared when I took his choice away.”
“When you saved his life,” Allura corrected.
“Yeah, well, that’s not how he sees it.”
Allura scowled.  “If Lance doesn’t realize what he has right in front of him, he’s even denser than I thought.”  Unexpectedly, she pulled Pidge into a hug.
While Pidge appreciated the gesture, she just wasn’t in the mood for it, pulling away after a few seconds.  “I just don’t know what I'm supposed to do about all this.”
Allura hummed.  “I don’t know, but I do know the mice made a discovery last night that may interest you.”
Pidge sat up straighter, intrigued.  “What did they find?”
“An old invention of my father’s that never really caught on,” said Allura.  “I can guarantee you’ve never seen anything like it.”
Pidge stood.  “Where is it?”
“Follow me.”  Allura left the cabin, leading Pidge through the castle down to a closet just off the ballroom.  She quickly unlocked the closet and began to pull out something very large.  “He never did… come up with… a name for it,” Allura panted as she dragged out whatever-it-was.  “It was supposed to be the next big musical innovation, but nobody could get the hang of playing it.”
Allura stopped and stepped aside, allowing Pidge to get a good look a large, oddly-shaped wooden box with myriad strings inside.  An odd-looking system of hammers seems to be the method for making sound with it, activated by pressing rows of purple and blue keys… Pidge laughed out loud when she realized.  “It’s a piano!”
Allura blinked.  “A what?”
“An instrument we have on Earth,” Pidge explained.  “It looks a little different, but the structure is basically the same, and it’s probably the most widely-played instrument on the planet.”  She pulled out a frequency sensor that had come in handy more times than she could count, set it to detect sound waves, and hit the key that would have been A on an Earth piano.  Somehow, even after ten thousand years, the note’s frequency was still a perfect 440Hz.  Delighted, she sat down on the bench and spread her fingers over the keys, glancing at Allura.  “May I?”
Allura laughed delightedly.  “Be my guest!”
Pidge needed no further prompting.  After stumbling through a few scales, she began to regain her feel for the instrument, gaining confidence as her hands remembered the skills they had possessed before she became the Green Paladin.  Soon she was gliding through lively sonatas, coaxing out haunting laments, and pounding out her favorite showtunes, too engrossed to notice when Allura quietly sidled from the room.  The only times she glitched were when she caught sight of her left hand, occasionally missing notes when met with the still-unfamiliar sight of Lance’s soulmark.
Completely absorbed in playing, Pidge failed to notice when the ballroom door opened once more, and even the increased sense from her soulmarks escaped her notice… that is, until Lance spoke, snapping her from her piano-induced reverie.  “I didn’t know we had a piano here.”
“Gah!  Lance!”  Pidge jolted away from the piano, cutting herself off mid-song.  “What are you doing here?”  Her words came out more hostile than she intended.
Lance scowled.  “I mean, I thought maybe we could talk, since you seemed to be in a better mood than usual, but I guess that’s not happening.”  He turned to leave.
“Wait!  That’s not -- I didn’t --”  Pidge’s less-than-cohesive sentences fell on deaf ears as Lance stalked from the room.  The fleeting joy of her music long gone, she buried her head in her arms, wishing she could block out Lance’s mix of confusion and hostility.
The next quintant, Team Voltron was back on duty, working to free planet Morixos from the Galra’s oppressive presence.  Lance and Pidge were able to set aside their argument long enough to form Voltron and defeat the fleet stationed in the system, but the battle left everyone emotionally taxed.
The blue-skinned Morixite leader seemed to pick up on this as the Paladins and Coran trooped tiredly into the celebratory banquet in their honor.  “What is wrong, Paladins?” she asked, and Lance hoped she wouldn’t overbalance as she tilted her oversized head to one side.  “This was a great victory, yes?  Let us celebrate!”
Hunk’s soulmark gleamed as servants brought out tray after tray of exotic-looking food, most of it blue, but nobody else seemed able to muster much energy.  Lance ate without gusto, unable to even enjoy the attention several charming blue girls were lauding him with.  That whole fight was way too close, he reflected grimly, forced to the realization that it was because of the tension between him and Pidge that it had taken them four tries to form Voltron.  From the shame and general grumpiness emanating from Pidge in waves, he figured she felt the same.
Sure enough, as the leader finished her heartfelt speech thanking Team Voltron for everything they had done, Pidge stood.  “I, ah… I need some time alone.”  Her voice shook slightly, and nobody tried to stop her as she fled from the room.  Lance watched her go, wondering if he should go after her.  Maybe I’ve been too harsh with her…  But, no, he could sense her feelings of stifledness, her desire to be anywhere but that banquet hall at that moment.  Near him.  It hurt, but he understood, and with a sigh, he turned back to the banquet table.
“Hey there, handsome,” said a sultry voice.  Lance turned and saw a Mixolite girl who, despite her resemblance to a bobblehead, was quite pretty.  “You look stressed.  Maybe you could use a back rub?”
Normally, Lance would have been tempted, but his mind was elsewhere that night.  “No, thanks.”
The girl looked hurt.  “Are you sure?  I give good ones, especially to boys as cute as you.”
“I said no,” Lance repeated a little bit harshly.  “Would you leave me alone?”  He pretended not to notice the other Paladins staring at him in surprise as the Mixolite stalked away in a huff.
“Aren’t you going to eat anything, Lance?” Allura asked, forcing a change of subject.  “It’s impolite not to, you know.”
“And it’s really good,” Hunk added.  “You have got to try the blue stuff!”
“Hunk, that’s literally all of it,” Lance deadpanned.
“Exactly!”
Lance had just begun reaching for a piece of elaborate blue bread when a burning tingle raced up his left arm.  “Ow!”
“What’s wrong?” Allura asked, her voice tinged with concern.
Lance felt a flood of emotions that were not his own -- surprise, panic, anger.  Intense pain.  He launched to his feet.  “Pidge!”
“Didn’t she say she wanted to be alone?” Keith protested as Lance sprinted for the door.
“I have to help her!”  Lance knew he wasn’t making sense, but there wasn’t time to explain.  Ignoring the disapproving looks of everyone in the room, he sprinted back toward the Castle.  As he ran, Blue seemed to sense his desperation, swooping from her hangar to scoop him up in her mouth.  “Thanks, girl,” he painted, trying to get his breath back.
Now… where is she?  Lance thrust the control sticks forward, zooming over the planet’s azure surface at full throttle, trying to steer in the direction where he could feel Pidge’s emotions most strongly.  “C’mon, old Blue, faster,” he muttered through clenched teeth as his Lion swooped upward, heading for the planet’s atmosphere.
Lance followed the sensation of Pidge’s fear and defiance, wincing at the burning sensation from her soulmark.  I’m coming, Pidge, he thought determinedly, pushing Blue to go faster still.
And suddenly, with a tingle from his palm to his heart, a thought pierced Lance’s mind that was not his own.  Lance?
The soulbond!  Lance had heard of soulmates occasionally communicating telepathically, but it was a rare occurrence even on Earth.  It’s me.  Lance put all his mental energy into transmitting the thought to Pidge.
I’m in a Galra fighter.  It was clear Pidge was trying desperately to hold it together.  I think we’re headed for Galra Central Command.
I’m on my way.  Lance could have cried with relief.  Pidge was a captive, but for the moment, she was relatively safe.  He’d make it to her in no time.  As these thoughts took over his mind, he felt a wave of hope from Pidge drown out her panic, and he urged Blue onward, determined to reach her before she reached Galra Central Command.
“So, little Paladin, want to hear what Haggar’s going to do with you once I turn you in and claim my reward?”
Pidge didn’t, but as her entire body seemed to be in a temporary state of paralysis due to whatever the smug Galra officer had hit her with, she didn’t get a say in the matter.  Making a valiant effort to tune out his grating voice as he droned about all the terrible tortures Haggar would put her through, Pidge gritted her teeth, trying to force her mouth to open.
About a varga later (though it felt like deca-phoebs), Pidge regained a bit of control, forcing her jaw open.  “You won’t live to regret this,” she spat.
“Oho!  The little Paladin speaks!”  The Galra officer glanced offhandedly in her direction.  “I suppose that means it’s wearing off.  Can’t have that, now, can we?”  With a flick of his wrist, he jabbed her again with his stunner, simultaneously giving her an electric (or quintessential?) shock and injecting something into her veins.  Pidge’s body spasmed, and if she could have screamed, she would have; it felt like she was being torn apart from the inside.
The Galra officer studied her face, smirking at what he saw.  “Much better,” he approved.  Pidge found herself wishing telepathic murder was possible.  Thankfully, the agony faded unnaturally quickly, replaced by stifling numbness.
Sudden sensation caught her off guard as a tingle down her left arm broke through the maddening nothingness.  I can see fighters ahead.  Which one are you in?
The lead one, Pidge replied hurriedly.  I can’t move, so you’ll have to find a way to get me out.
Got it.  Pidge reached out through her soulbond, clinging tightly to Lance’s determination and the knowledge that he was on his way for her.  Hope for her rescue battled with worry, which she stamped down.  Of course he’d be okay.  Of course they’d make it through this and be safe and together in no time.
A voice came on over the fighter’s communicator.  “Blue Lion approaching, sir.  What are your orders?”
“Blast!”  The Galra officer let loose a string of what Pidge assumed was profanity.  “Shoot it down!  Keep it away from my ship!”  Pidge felt the fighter accelerate to escape the Lion.
They’re turning around to attack!  Panic filtered through the soulbond along with Lance’s ‘voice.’  I can’t tell which one was in the lead!
Ignore them, Pidge insisted.  The guy who has me is trying to get away!
Through her soulbond, Pidge could imagine Lance taking a deep breath and setting his jaw.  Moments later, there was a muffled boom, and the fighter jolted.  Are you wearing your armor, Pidge?!  The sudden thought from Lance came accompanied by a surge of panic.
Yes… what are you planning?  Pidge had a feeling she knew, and it wasn’t going to be pleasant.
In the silent oblivion of space, Pidge couldn’t hear the Blue Lion’s weapons firing, but she heard them impact the fighter and felt the jolts as the Galra officer desperately tried to keep the ship steady.  Moments later, Pidge was blinded by a brilliant, fiery flash and crash that launched her out into nothingness, helpless to stop herself from spinning or control her trajectory away from the explosion.
Pidge’s flailing, chaotic flight lasted maybe a dobosh before sound returned and she landed heavily on something hard and flat.  “Pidge!  Are you okay?”  Black spots danced before her eyes, and the last thing she saw before consciousness faded entirely was a very concerned Lance.
“This isn’t my fault, is it?”  Lance stared worriedly at the motionless form of his soulmate floating catatonic in the healing pod.
“It was the fault of the Galra who abducted her, not you,” Allura assured him.
“For the twenty-seventh time,” Keith muttered.
Coran hummed.  “She appears to have been exposed to small doses of concentrated quintessence, coupled with some sort of muscle-freezing drug.  She’ll be okay, but it might take a few quintants.”
“Okay.”  As the rest of the Paladins and Coran left the room, Lance approached the pod.  “I know you can’t hear me right now, but I need to get this off my chest.”  He took a deep breath.  “I… I’m sorry.  When you soulbound with me, I thought… I didn’t know what to think.  I pushed you away when I should have been thanking you, even though I could feel how much it was hurting you.  And, well, if you want the truth, it hurt me, too.  I care about you a lot, Pidge.  I mean, understanding you as well as I do now with the whole soulmate thing, it would be hard not to, but it’s more than that.  All this time we’ve been in space, I’ve realized you make me smile like no one ever has.  You’re smart, and funny, and brave, and kind… I guess what I’m trying to say is, every time I flirted with alien girls, every time I tried to get Allura to notice me, I was lying to myself.  Deep down, it’s always been you.  The truth is, I’m in love with you, and I’ve been a real idiot to not realize it sooner.”  Lance squeezed his eyes shut, pressing his palms against the surface of the healing pod as if to pierce through Pidge’s coma with love alone.
Searing heat.  Lance gasped, his eyes snapping open just in time to see Pidge's soulmarks begin to glow -- a quick look revealed that his own were glowing as well, more brightly than he had ever seen.  The monitors beside the healing pod went haywire for a moment before settling to a normal, healthy pattern.  The surface of the pod dissolved, and Pidge collapsed into Lance’s arms.  “Lance…?” she murmured, her voice ragged.
“I’m here, Pidge.”  How was this possible?  He held her tightly against his chest, gently rubbing her back.
“I heard what you said.”  Lance let go of Pidge in surprise.  “About… you know.  This.”  She held out her left arm, where Lance’s soulmark still glowed brilliant blue.
“How, though?  And how are you okay?”
Pidge shrugged.  “Humans have had soulmates for thousands of years, but we still haven’t figured out much about what they can do.  What we can do.”
“Hey, if it means my soulmate doesn’t have to spend several more quintants in a healing pod, I’m fine with that.”
Pidge shuffled her feet.  “So, um… about the whole accidental soulbinding thing… we’re cool, right?”  Like, you’re not still upset about mmmf!”  She let out a startled noise as Lance shut her up with a kiss.

Pidge had fled to Kuliwlt to visit Nihaar, as Coran told them. After Kuliwlt, the planet that Nihaar had been born on and raised for her earlier years, had been liberated from the Galra it needed a leader that could resolve the civil unrest and bring the separated factions together. For Nihaar, whom had never felt wanted by the Blade and had a few family members still living on Kuliwlt, the choice to return home and take control was easy. With all the accomplishments she had and how instrumental she’d been in the freeing of the planet, she’d been nearly thrown into the position.
Pidge tried to get you to come back once she found out she was pregnant. We told her to just tell you during one of her many calls to you, but she was dead-set that wanted to tell you herself in person.
I wish she had told me… If I had known I would have come back.
I know, Keith. I know.
He and Nihaar hadn’t kept up much once she left the team, but it didn’t surprise him that she and Pidge still talked. Nihaar had been the member of the Blade that had pushed him to act on his interest in Pidge, after all, and she always appreciated how Team Voltron accepted her so eagerly.
We finally managed to get her to tell Kolivan she was pregnant so he would send you back, but you were already on your mission at that point. He said that he wouldn’t have been able to reach you even if he wanted to, at that point. Pidge herself gave up on trying to reach you at that point, deciding that she’d just take care of the baby by herself.
She gave up?
As far as she was concerned, you didn’t want to be around. You were more focused on building up your credit with the Blade, and she decided she didn’t really care if that was what you wanted. If you couldn’t come be with her when she sent for you, as she saw it, then you wouldn’t want to be there for the baby either.
He landed just outside the citadel, where there was a forest. He figured it made sense that she would settled down in a spot that, given what she was the Paladin of. It was late in the afternoon, the sun starting to sink lower in the horizon and lighting the sky up with bright orange and yellow and pink hues. It reminded him a lot of the sunsets he’d seen back in the desert, on Earth, and would have been a welcome sight if not for how frigid he felt on the inside.
Everything was fine at first. She was born healthy and well, and even though she was tired, Pidge was doing great. We were trying to help Pidge out where we could with her, too, to make things a little easier for her. But then… Well, sadly, sometimes these things just happen. It wasn’t anyone’s fault; the baby just… stopped breathing.
She wasn’t sick? There was no warning?
SIDS was the determined cause of death. This happens, sometimes, with babies between the newborn phase and two years old. Their bodies are still adjusting to working on their own, so instinctive things like breathing while sleeping aren’t completely programmed in to them. Their bodies read it as the mind being at rest, so that means all the other systems should be at rest, too, I guess… It’s not as uncommon as people might think, but it’s still uncommon. I don’t even think it was an idea Pidge had ever entertained until it happened.
Green Lion was settled along the tree line at the top of a large hill that overlooked the view. It would be a great spot to enjoy a quiet moment alone. Pidge was settled on the grass, seated with her knees pulled to her chest and her arms wrapped tightly around them. He hadn’t seen that guarded pose from her in years. His heart throbbed painfully in his chest as he reminded himself that he was partially to blame for why she was sitting like that. Nihaar was beside her, speaking softly and her long tail gently draped along her shoulders.
Pidge completely fell apart for the first couple of weeks afterwards. She would barely eat, didn’t sleep, didn’t clean up. We got Matt to stay with us for a while and she started to get better, started acting more like herself. She told us that she had made a decision that she thought would help her going forward. I assume it was dumping you.
… Matt was probably happy about that. He’s never thought I was good enough for her.
I’m not gonna confirm or deny that. Matt made it pretty clear that he has a lot of issue with you, so you might want to avoid any missions that’ll put you in direct contact with him. I’m not sure if he’d try anything, but better safe than sorry, you know?
He slowly approached, standing a bit behind them and steeling himself. “Haven’t you done enough to me for one day?” She asked with a small sigh.
“Can we talk? In private?” He asked, looking at Nihaar. The ex-Blade in question stared at him then looked over at Pidge. She gave a small nod and Nihaar rose, staring hard at Keith as she moved past him.
She said something quick and harsh in her native tongue, but he couldn’t place it. He merely averted his gaze, listening until the sound of her steps completely disappeared.
“You should have told me about the baby,” He managed to croak out once they were completely alone. He was a bit relieved that he didn’t sound angry, but his pain leaked through.
“I shouldn’t have had to say more than that it was important and I needed you with me. You asked me to marry you, you promised to be there for me, and you weren’t. There’s not much else left to interpret about that, you know,”
“There’s still the matter of us. This… I don’t want it to end like this. I know I’ve done wrong… I know I said things I shouldn’t have… But that doesn’t mean I don’t still love you,”
“I never said I didn’t still love you. But the thing I can’t get over is that I can’t trust you, that I can’t rely on you. I’ve always made it clear to you that I won’t settle for a relationship where I get back what I put in… That I won’t commit to someone who isn’t going to commit to me as well. You’ve proven you can’t be the kind of partner that I want. No amount of love will ever make me settle for less,” She said, a finality in her words and tone that he knew better to press her on.
He was quiet for a moment before he shifted and sat beside her. “Tell me about her,”
She tensed then slowly looked at him. “It won’t change anything. It won’t fix everything between us. It won’t change how I feel,”
“I know,” He said, holding her gaze. It pained him to admit it, but he knew that there was no coming back from this. They had both made mistakes. They had both suffered for it. “I just… I want to know about her, even if she wasn’t here for very long. I want to at least know what our daughter was like.”
Pidge stared at him for a moment before turning her gaze back out to the horizon.
“I named her Amber Rose. She had my eyes, my nose, your hair, your skin… Lance said she had your whiny mouth, but she wasn’t really that bad,”
He laughed a bit at the jab at him. Of course Lance would say that.
“She had just started figuring out how to make faces and noises before she,” She cut herself off, taking in a shuttering breath and resting one hand on the grass, picking at the strands as if to distract herself. He reached out and tentatively placed his hand over hers, squeezing lightly, trying to offer what little comfort she might find in him. She relaxed just a hair at his touch. “She smiled and laughed a lot. She was always so happy, so full of love.”
She told him a little more; about how Amber seemed to like wearing clothes that were in different shades of orange or peach. Pidge still had the blanket that Colleen had knitted for her when she told her parents she was pregnant, folded up in a small container with the first outfit Amber had ever worn, stashed in her closet. The little star on her bedside table was actually the urn with her ashes inside it, kept there because Pidge didn’t want to leave her in a plot on Earth, so far from the only home she’d ever known.
He sat there and listened, laughing when was appropriate and tearing up as he realized that these were things that he would never experience himself. He never had the chance to hold their daughter and he never would. He never had the chance to see her smile or hear her laugh and he never would. She would never learn to talk and they’d never know what her first word would have been. He’d never need to learn how to properly braid hair. He’d never get to attend one of those little Father-Daughter dances he’d heard about.
He would never have those chances.
They sat in silence after a while, watching as the sky turned dark, and staying until the cold grew to be too much for Pidge to bear.
She stood up. He followed her.
She went to the Green Lion. He went towards his Blade cruiser.
He glanced back at her, his fingers tracing the outline of their engagement rings in his pocket. She didn’t spare him a second glance.
She boarded the Green Lion. He boarded his cruiser.
She returned to Team Voltron. He returned to the Blade.
They took on a life of being strangers, the only reminder of their previous involvement being their broken hearts and the remains of the daughter they never had a chance to truly know.

i’m thinking but honestly all i want is some fluffy angst... a punch in the gut with some final kissing . i love fics that rewrite the sunset scene always chefs kiss... or you know how in season 7 for some reason they always called out for each other first? like when lance has his crashing scene keith yells out lance come in twice??? or when they are stuck in the galra prison and they yell out each other’s names???? idk something about that would be amazing to read???? ok i rambled idk rewritten canon klance is just Mwah... OH IM SO EXCITED TO READ THOSE SNIPPETS EEEEEEE :DDDDDD TY FOR SENDING THAT
i’m soooo glad you liked the fanart when i saw it i HAD to send it your way... it’s the little bois in their animal hats 😭😭🥺 i love them so much it’s soooooo cute 😭😭 i’ve been stalking the original tweet and there’s some other version and they’re super adorable too 😭😭😭😭😭😭
hope you had a wonderful day today + yesterday... take care <333
hey heyyyy~
actually i don’t think i have many resources to give him bc im focusing on levelling up my team for the ascension rn FJKHDSKFHSDKJFHSDK but for sure i will do it... anything for him 😩 AHAHAH nooooo but yes ! during the chalk prince dragon event i used festering desire in dragonspine but my higher levelled sword everywhere else, but sometiems i forgot to switch back and was stuck with shit damage 💀
yeah actually i see a lot of poeple complain about not being able to do missions on mobile either (or having a really hard time with it) fskjhfksj but there are for sure people who would think mobile is better so 🤷‍♀️ to each their own! ahah does anyone in your family have a windows laptop/pc? steal borrow it 🤪
i definitely miss the easier days!! it’s fun going to an area with lower level enemies bc i defeat them so easily.. but then again their drops also aren’t as good so you trade one thing for another i guess lol
ikr?!?!?? like we get it you’re inseparable omg.. it’s so cute when they go seek out asahi as well and hinata hides behind kageyama and then points and at him like he’s showing him off.. lives in my mind rent free 😌
oh i see!!! that’s so brave of you omg you knew all that and still decided to give it a shot? fshfkdsjf. it was. insane. like talking about the positives only, it was just everyone going crazy every time there was a single hint of klance is canon king and just ugh. it was all so exciting and hype and like the energy you know?? especially when there were conventions where they were revealing trailers or new info wow tumblr was buzzing.. (reminds me of when klance was top ship.......) i miss that kinda environment tbh! but also now that i’m in uni i don’t think i’d have the energy to keep up fhskfjds
(WHAT IF WE KISSED!! IN GENSHIN CO-OP!! HAHA JK... UNLESS?! that’s so funny fskdj but i wish 😔😩 makes a second reroll account just for this? HAHAAH. and noooo even if we didn’t do anything i feel like it’d be so fun just running around hfkdsjs. and maybe i could carry you w your quests it’s always been my dream to help someone out like my brother can just come into my world and one-shot enemies 😩 but maybe some day!! cross-server will happen)
:((((((((((( S1 KEITH AND S8 KEITH THE GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT 😭😭😭😭 keith went from being a lone wolf expelled from the garrison to finding his MOTHER!! AND THE BESTEST SPACE WOLF DOGGO!! AND LEADING A FKN ITNERGALACTIC ORGANISATION!~!!!eASKJDHSAFHEHFSDIUHSAZODUQWEQWYRHIASKJDNCSOUADHB. marmora!keith............. both a blessing and a curse.... but that uniform tho 🥵
i cried!!! so much watching that scene lmao!!! can’t remember how i felt at the time but i was probably also surpirsed.. and ikr? that’s poetry in its own tbh we love that keith said the most ‘expressive’ and ‘emotional’ lines the most
sunset scene... sunset scene!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! omg yeah them just calling out for each other’s names first like??? explain please?? omg also remember when keith chose lance in the quiz.. AND LANCE CALLED KEITH THE FUTURE? FUCKING EXPLAIN???????? WHAT THE FUCK!!!!! there is no heterosexual explanation. okay but now that you’ve put sunset scene in my head... either rewrite where lance was looking for keith to confess to him bc they were going back to space and he wanted to get it out or.. in the future where klance are together and lance has a dream about it and suddenly realises wait. did keith already like me back then. and then they talk about it ... hmmmmm . AND WOOOO NO PROBLEM!! HOPE YOU ENJOY <33
i def have to look at the other versions!!! honestly this meme is kinda the best thing out there rn so many cute baby renditions of charas.. blessed!! i love them all sm...
thank you!! hope yours have been great too, and school is treating you well :**

Not All Wounds are Visable
This is a Voltron: Legendary Defender Group Therapy AU. What that means is that basically, they all meet at this teenage therapy meeting, and become friends, I guess. I honestly don’t know what is going to happen to this story, but we will see, I guess. It’s not very good, and I’m not sure how far I will get into it before either forgetting about it, or just dropping it, but oh well?
I have been stalling posting this because I’m still not sure how I feel about it, but I figured that its Keith’s birthday! Might as well post his chapter, right? I’m so sorry Keith. I love you!
Warning! This story includes talks about depression, death, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, Cancer, suicide, insomnia, and many other mental illnesses. Please do not put yourself at risk by reading this! Also mentions of blood, swearing, sex, and other things that teenagers would talk about. The story literally starts off with a failed suicide attempt and thoughts of suicide, so please stay safe!
I try to portray the mental illnesses as best I can, but I personally have only had to deal with depression and minor anxiety. So I apologize if I don’t portray them correctly. I’m doing a bunch of research, but if you find that something is wrong, please send me a message or something. But also keep in mind that everyone’s experience with mental illness is different.
Also! Feel free to message me if you need someone to talk too! I will not judge you for anything!
Again, please do not read if you are triggered by anything I mentioned previously!
Chapter 1
Keith
Hospital are always way too white. White walls, white sheets, white lights, white clothing. Everything is white and sterile. The color of sickness and medication. I hated hospitals. I have been in them too many times for a normal person, and I despised the blinding color. Black was much more suitable.
White is the color of life.
Black is the color of death.
I squinted at the white tiled ceiling above me and sighed. The light next to me was flickering. But it was white. White, white, white, white, white. Everything in this godforsaken place was white. I attempted to move the fingers in my right hand, but all I felt was the pain of my cuts and the stinging nothingness of my hand’s existence.
The tv in the corner was muted but still seemed so loud. The pictures and images flashing by. It was talking about some car crash or something. Or maybe it was a reality tv show. Whatever it was, I didn’t really care.
The doctor’s voice was distant behind the door. He was probably talking to my adopted parents. “He cut the tendon in his wrist… Should be fixable… Abusive behavior… kill himself… You need too…”
A shiver went down my spine, and I wished I had my red jacket with me. I had grown used to its presence, using it to hide the scars littering my arms and sides. It protected me from the cruel thing called life. I closed my eyes and sighed, praying that I wouldn’t start crying. That would only make Yui, my adopted mother cry. Then her husband, Akio would start crying, and then Shiro would be Shiro and I just can’t handle that.
The Shirogane’s adopted me when I was 11. I didn’t feel welcomed at first, but Takashi, their son, made it a lot easier. But despite feeling like I had somewhat of a family again, I could never get rid of the empty feeling in my chest. There was something missing, and I couldn’t figure out what it was.
And it eventually got really bad.
I exhaled again, rubbing my thumb against my fingers in frustration. It was stupid of me to have gotten caught. I should have made sure they were asleep. I should have made sure… I should have made sure I killed myself when I had the fucking chance.
I should have fucking died.
I want to die.
There was a light knock on the door, and I pondered whether I would answer it. But I couldn’t really trust my voice to make the correct sounds. The door inched open, and I was met with dark eyes peering through the crack. Eyes I recognized well. Shiro… Seeing I was awake, Shiro pushed the door open further. “Keith?”
“Hey, Takashi.” I croaked, smiling weakly. “Whats up?”
“Don’t even start.” He crossed his arms strictly, having to move his prosthetic one to finish the motion, reminding me of his dad a little bit, despite only being a few years older than me. He let his arm relax when he saw me frown and crossed the small room to sit next to me on the small, white hospital bed. I tried to scoot over, but I couldn’t really find the energy. I tried to use my hand to lift myself up, but I hissed in pain.
“Don’t move, you’re alright.” Shiro wrapped an arm around my shoulder and I felt the mattress sink under his weight. “God, you really scared me, kid.”
I noticed now that his eyes were lined with red. He had been crying.
Because of you…
Shiro had always been the handsome one. He was tall and muscular, a look that every woman on the street fell for instantly. He had a large pink scar across his nose and the hair at the beginning of his forehead was dyed white. He had been popular at school, everyone trying to get a piece of him in some way. But he didn’t enjoy that. Shiro wasn’t a fan of lots of people. He couldn’t stand being in a crowded space for more than a few minutes sometimes. He just got overwhelmed so quickly.
“I’m sorry.” I placed my numb hand on my lap, ignoring the pain, and wrapped my other arm around his waist slowly, so he knew what I was doing. He smiled sadly. “You cut a tendon in your wrist, Keith.”
Leaning against his shoulder, I closed my eyes. “I know,” I muttered softly.
“If something goes wrong during the surgery, you won’t be able to use that hand anymore.” He whispered. Shiro should know. He lost his whole arm. He knows that empty feeling of nothing being where something should be. Shiro knows it better than anyone else. He wasn’t looking at me. I could tell.
“It’s a good thing I’m ambidextrous, right Shiro?” I chuckled lightly. I just wanted to sleep forever. I didn’t want to have this conversation with him. With Shiro. He’s my brother. I didn’t want to hear the questions he was going to ask.
“This isn’t funny.”
“I’m sorry.”
Another sigh. He placed his chin on my head, stroking my neck. “No, I’m the one that should be sorry, Keith. I should have protected you. I should have tried harder.”
“It was my choice, Shiro. I can’t… I don’t….” I could feel the tears behind my eyes. I didn’t know how to finish my sentence. “I don’t want to be here anymore.”
“I know, Keith. I know. I understand.” He smiled against my head. “I know everyone has been telling you this your entire life, and I know you don’t want to hear it anymore. But it will get better. It will get so much better. I can promise you, it will.”
I couldn’t answer. I just shook my head.
“Keith. I want you to do something for me. Can you try?”
“I… I guess…”
“Come to a meeting.”
“Shiro-”
“No, Keith, you need too. You need to talk to someone that is dealing with the same problems as you!” Shiro has been talking about going to a group therapy meeting for the past few months. With a bunch of other kids that were messed up too. He has been asking me to go to a meeting, claiming it will help to talk to other people my age.
“Plus you don’t have much of a choice. It’s either go to these meetings and see a professional twice a week, or you have to go to a hospital.”
A hospital? No… I can’t go there….
“I talk to you all the time!”
“Just… please?” His voice sounded small. “I’ll go with you. If you want.”
I hesitated at first. I didn’t want to talk to people about what is in my brain because it’s fucking messed up. I didn’t even know what was happening up there half the time. And besides, it’s no ones else business whats going on in my life. But I guess it’s better than going to a mental hospital. I sighed. “…fine.”
Shiro smiled. I wanted to smile back, but I couldn’t find the energy. “I have something for you. He pulled a brown paper bag out of his pocket. Whatever it was fit into his pocket pretty well, I hadn’t it noticed before. “I was going to give this to you in a few days, but I think it’s appropriate to give it to you now.” He handed it to me, and I took it slowly with my right hand. It was kind of heavy, but not really. Wooden, I think. I opened the paper bag and found a picture frame inside. “I had just gotten it from the frame place down the street when I got the call that-” He sucked in a breath. “Well, anyway. Happy Birthday, Keith.”
It was a picture. A picture of me and Shiro, when I had just been adopted by the Shiroganes. We were sitting on a bench in the part. We were both smiling. I was missing one of my teeth, it had fallen out a few days before. Shiro wore a black beanie and his varsity football jacket. It was before he left for the military. It was one of the happiest moments of my life. I had realized that I didn’t only have a family again, but I had a brother too.
I felt my breath shudder as I exhaled, gripping the frame tightly. “Thank you,” I whispered, finally letting my tears fall. Wednesday, October 18th. Five days before my birthday, I tried to kill myself. And I failed.
I drifted off to a warm arm wrapping around me, and the sound of voices out in the hallway. With the bright white lights streaming down on me, in the white room with the white floor and the white cloths. And the beautiful blue wooden picture frame with veins of silver and gold.
Thank you for reading!

Negotiations will be met because I'm doing this at a low price plus I'm willing to do a price that is okay with the person that's asking for a commission but it all depends on how many pages they want and how much money they're wanting to spend.))

8. Detail detail detail! I want as much detail as possible for any sort of commission that you are wanting because I'm putting all my heart and soul into everything that I am doing so I hope that there are no problems to be had.
9. All commissions will be done as promoted.
10. I'm best at writing fantasy stories and adventure stories.
11. I do not write fetish stories that are beyond my comfort zone such as farting, toilet humor, rape, pedophilia, racism, extreme necrophilia.

Can you do "ZAMBONI" for the letter asks? (And the prompt for Z could be like "first kiss" or something if you don't want to find one)(also sorry zamboni is long but I couldn't think of another word besides that one x))
Thank you so much for the asks! This got a really long, so I had to put it under a read more link! Anyway, thanks again! These were super fun to answer, like always~!
((Also oh my god ZAMBONI was so fun to write god bless))
From this post!
A- Ships that you currently like a lot
ZevWarden and Morriana, totally. Of course ZevWarden, because like, of course I love Zevran and my Warden! And Morriana because of their in-game dynamic and THE DRESS IN INQUISITION GIVES ME MY QUEER L I F E
B- A pairing you initially didn’t consider, but someone changed your mind
Morrigan x Warden. By someone, I kind of mean myself, because I was planning out my games, and was like shit I need to pair someone with Morrigan and thus, Orest was born and as he developed, I got into the ship!
I- Has Tumblr made you dislike any fandom?
Fucking VOLTRON, DUDE. I hate how fucking extra everyone is, and, controversial opinion here, the Shaladin ships disgust me. I’m not going to harass anyone over it, but I really don’t like them. But the other shippers are just as bad trying to pull out these “"receipts”“ and harassing the VAs. I follow some discourse-free blogs, which is nice, but still…
M- A character you’d like to have as a friend!
Leliana! Both of us have stuff in common, like our sexualities and our views on religion for the most part ^^ I think she’d be really nice to talk to and shop with!
N- Three things you want to see more of in your main fandom
I wish I saw more Morriana and Zevran x Human Mage! I see A LOT of Leliwarden and Zevran x Mahariel/Tabris/Surana, but not much Amell/Cousland fanart or fanfictions! Let my husband love some humans! ♡♡ (Does it count if I say I also want to see more notes on my fanfictions?)
O- Chose a song at random. What character or pairing does it remind you of?
Dear River by Kina Grannis SO reminds me of Zevran! Specifically, my Warden to Zevran, because of the lyrics. I, in terms of my Warden, really feel like the song is about Zevran, coming along and just sweeping him off his feet. And the feeling, in the beginning of their time together, felt so temporary I can’t help but really get emotional when I listen to it. Here’s a link to the music video~♡
Z- Fandom Ramble! (First Kiss!!)
Hope you don’t mind me taking your little prompt of “First Kiss” and writing some tiny ficlets for my Wardens! I went a little overboard with this… but I hope you appreciate this peek into my Wardens’ love lives ^^
Redren: Prudent was never something Redren considered himself to be. Born in a whorehouse and later raised by a girl with so little shame, he never thought he’d be so flustered. With how pretty he was, how he listened, how he complimented him. Did this elf have no shame? No anxiety? No desire to keep his head on his shoulders? So when the flirting started all but the moment after his life was spared, Redren hadn’t the faintest idea how to handle it. He caved, allowing for this Antivan massage, so obviously a trap, a way for him to face his own desires without saying yes with a clear head. But it didn’t turn out like that. Zevran, for it was in his very nature itself for him to do so, joked and flirted, but all but shied away from doing anything like Redren had assumed he would. So when it was over, his back and shoulders feeling better than they had in years, he hardly noticed the kiss that was planted on his cheek before Zevran slipped away into the dark. A blink was all it took for the pale skin feel as if it were set ablaze. His cheek was on fire because of something. Embarrassment? No, no he didn’t feel embarrassed. He couldn’t pin it, it was both frustrating and fulfilling. But whatever it was, he wanted to feel it again. And again. And again.
Faelyn: Nelaros! Nelaros was his name! Oh, Nelaros, Nelaros, Nelaros! Faelyn couldn’t contain her excitement. After so many years of waiting, waiting, waiting, her husband was finally chosen! From Highever, no less! The whole idea made her giddy, so excited she wore Shianni out not even ten minutes after getting the news, bouncing around and giggling and laughing. Nelaros! Maybe this all meant that father believed her capable, that she was smart enough to be a useful wife. So long she’d believed she wasn’t, so anxious, thinking that perhaps, yes, only perhaps, she’d be stuck cleaning taverns’ tables until she died. But now with Nelaros, oh how she loved to say his name, Nelaros, my Nelaros, she could have those babies like she dreamed of, a beautiful bride to be a glowing mother, to make the others see that I’m capable! I’m smart enough! My husband, he loves me! See, see, look! I can be what you all said I wasn’t enough to be! And she was so happy when she saw him, when he didn’t care about the way she sounded when she talked, when her teeth got in the way of her tongue, when she forgot what she was saying halfway though. She promised to be a good girl, to wait until wed to kiss him, for that was the rule of the weddings. She didn’t care, as long as she got her kiss in the end, with a little iron ring around her finger, slipped on by her beloved. But when she kissed him, oh how cold his lips were. The tears flowing down her cheeks weren’t the happy ones like she’d dreamed they’d be. The ring in his pocket felt ten times its weight, lead pulling her pretty little hand to the dirt. His lips, so cold, too cold. This corpse wasn’t her husband. It couldn’t be! It couldn’t be, it couldn’t be, it couldn’t be! Her dress, once so pretty, so white, now such an ugly colour, so red, so filthy. She had given this kiss to a corpse, a dead man on the floor, stained in the same ugly colour her hands were. Shianni, as much as she tried, couldn’t tear her grip from the corpse’s shirt. She was supposed to stay with this husband of hers. Till death do us part, how unfair when it came so soon. Oh, Nelaros, Nelaros, Nelaros.
Orest: What counted as a kiss? Was it when a brother or a sister says goodnight? Was it when a mother or a father wishes you luck on a hunt? Or was it something more, a feeling rather than an action? Because whatever a kiss was, it was happening right now. Tamlen’s mouth was on Orest’s mouth, and whoever had moved first was anyone’s guess. How taboo for two men, never to be bonded, to share such an experience. What did this mean? Nothing could come from this pair, no children to carry on the Dalish blood. But it felt good. So good, like a silent mouth had no right to be. Whatever he felt was addictive, Tamlen’s skin underneath his fingertips was a rush, something so foreign yet so familiar. Tamlen hummed into his lips, sending this rush down his abdomen, igniting this fire of lust. How anyone could resist this feeling was a mystery for the ages, how anyone could live in the darkness, not knowing the feeling of someone against their skin like he once had was unanswerable. So they kept it up, with Tamlen the first to pull back. A promise was made, to do this again, because whatever it was, perhaps love, perhaps just teenage play, it felt good. This experiment certainly required more study.
Andrea: She was expected to marry a man of equal stature to her, an Arl’s son, or some other nobleman. She minded not, of course, if it was what her family desired, she would learn to desire it as well. And how bad could one man be? Her family was what mattered, and if she had to add one member, and likely more with her future children, she would adapt and carry on. But that ended. That possibility, blown out like the brief candle life was. She grieved, and she cried, and she never moved on. But he made it easier. He was foolish, and a bastard, not her equal, but the longer she watched, she grew to realize he was so much more than her. He cared, and he listened, and he let her sleep alongside him as the sky cooled and the leaves changed. He was all she was not, and she began to wonder if, perhaps, she was falling. The realization hit her like a blunt sword; the blow wan’t fatal, yet it hurt, it made her whole being reel on impact. But she let herself be swept away by this bastard King, by Alistair. So when he cupped a large, gentle hand against her chin, she tilted her head upward, letting him connect their lips. How soft his lips were, contrasting so greatly to the scratching of his stubbled chin. She felt his hands trail downward, gripping her full hips, so improper, so unbecoming of a noble, yet she allowed him to pull her closer, armor clinking against armor. Because he wasn’t a noble, he was Alistair. And in that moment, she realized it didn’t matter. Nothing in this Blighted world did, and if that was so, she was going to kiss this bastard over and over again.
Hundir: For a prince, especially one of the Dwarven kingdom, feelings were so unnecessary. They made a man weak, clouded his head with nonsense, useless sentiment that only served to pull the rug out from underneath his feet. So when he started to grow so close with him, with that trusted soldier, of what he near dared address as a friend, it frightened him. He kept it hushed, feelings so useless, so unheard of. And it wasn’t until the door was closing did he regret it. He reached out, to grab the disgraced warrior’s beard, pulling him close, planting that kiss upon his lips. It was short, hardly a second before he was pulled away and the doors to the Deep Roads shut behind him. That feeling of another man’s lips upon his own was so strange, but it felt destined, like it was meant to happen, the Stone moving his feet to do it. His hands shook as he stepped forward into the darkness of the tunnels, the handle of his battleaxe gripped in his gloved hands all that kept him from turning back, to pound on the door, to scream let me out! Let me out! Gorim, please, let me go with him! Let me live upon the surface with my warrior, please! Honor be damned, he didn’t care. But he moved forward, desperate to find these Wardens, to go with them, to find his warrior on the surface.

This was paradise.
Or as close as Shiro thought they could come to it. Keith had been right, he’d set the perfect destination for their sometimes aimless roadtrip and their last few days would be spent here, miles away from civilization with no one but each other for company. Even if they’d never made it as far as Keith had hoped, they’d found a way to make the most out of their roadblocks. They’d already set up their tent and gathered up firewood, taking advantage of the golden late afternoon sunshine. Shiro planned on getting the campfire started before the sun went down, but right now, all he wanted to do was sit and relax.
The woods were lush green in the summer heat as birds and squirrels dashed among the leaves. Their campsite opened up to a small lake, almost as round as a coin, and completely isolated. The water was so clear that Shiro could see the smooth polished stone at the bottom and the quicksilver fish that darted away whenever they saw his shadow. It was quiet and peaceful, except for the faint sound of their portable radio and Keith loudly crunching Doritos in his ear.
“How did you even find this place?” He asked as Keith scooted closer, holding out the chips like an offering. Shiro grabbed a handful.
“Internet? I had a lot of time last week to look up camping sites where we didn’t have to fight a hundred RVs with screaming kids.”
“Good call.”
“Thanks.” Keith waited until the moment Shiro meant to swallow his chip before adding, “Still wished we could’ve gone to that Musume. I wanted to see if aliens were real.”
Shiro choked and laughed, and Keith couldn’t be anything but shamelessly smug.
They settled in a comfortable silence, reveling in the quiet satisfaction of finally being able to stretch their legs. In the background, a lazy humming melody came on air that made Shiro want to inch closer to the fire and close his eyes for a little while. It struck Shiro then, a calm, undeniable clarity that he’d last felt right before sending in his application to Kerberos. Maybe that had been a mistake, he couldn’t be sure, but he’d never felt so light.
“There’s no one I would to share this more with than you.”
Keith quirked a brow. “Good, since I’m the only one here.”
“Lucky how that turned out.” Shiro said with a lopsided grin.
“It wasn’t luck, there was a lot of hard work and planning that went into it.” Keith lapsed into silence before he asked the question that he’d been holding tight in his chest for days. “When did you know?”
“Hm?” Shiro looked over, one eyebrow quirked. “Know that I was on a trip with only you? Probably about two days in, I was pretty suspicious of that rolled up sleeping bag for a while. It looked pretty shifty.”
“Shiro, I’m serious.” Keith leaned over to bump his friend with his shoulder, unable to hide his smile. “I mean, me. Us. Whatever this is. When did you know?”
“Oh.” He chuckled a little and wrapped his arm around Keith’s shoulders, pulling the other man in against him. “That’s easy. I guess it started back the first time I saw you fly the simulator in your first year, you were just a freshman and it was clear you were something special. You had this look on your face when you got out that was half-proud and half dare, like you were expecting someone to try and take your score away from you. I had such a crush, it was embarrassing.”
Keith felt heat creep up into his face. “So long ago?” He barely remembered that test, it was just another obstacle like everything had been back then. A delay towards his dream of flying, bogged down by rules and regulations. Shiro had been the only one who bothered to try and know him, but he had no idea that his feelings had lasted all this time.
“Were you tutoring me then?” Keith sounded ashamed, but he hadn’t pulled away, so Shiro held on tighter, even if it made Keith squirm.
“Yeah, but also a little before that.”
Shiro watched recognition bloom across Keith’s face, before everything shut it down, like Keith had pulled a mask over his smile. “I hated you back then.”
And Shiro realized it was embarrassment.
“I wouldn’t say hated, but I could tell a little, yeah.” Shiro laughed, because Keith looked so contrite, as if they’d only learned to get along yesterday. “You wouldn’t talk to me about anything other than the lesson plans. Getting you to speak was like pulling teeth. You’d ask a dozen questions at the start of every session, then go mute. It drove me up the wall.”
“I thought you were reporting everything I said to Iverson,” Keith said, flustered like not even gun fire could make him. He was equal parts apologetic and defensive, but in the end, regret won out in a big way. “I had enough black marks on my record. I thought you expected me to impress you. I’m sorry.”
“You always impressed me.” Something about that made Keith turn away, cheeks pinked in the light of the setting sun, and Shiro didn’t care that he had to crane his neck to see. It was worth it. “It’s fine, you weren’t rude or anything. You were the single most driven person I’d ever met. I didn’t think anything could get in your way. I just… wanted to talk to you more. But I think we worked out okay.”
“Yeah, I think we did.” Keith’s smile was tentative, testing out this new feeling and these new boundaries. It was a strange and fragile sort of feeling, a hope that he’d given up on too many times. He reached out and took Shiro’s hand, twining his fingers with the cool metal of Shiro’s and looking back out over the lake. “I wanted to tell you before Kerberos, but the right time never came up. I thought I’d lost you without ever telling you how I felt, and when we found you again…”
“Everything was different.”
“Not everything.” He squeezed Shiro’s hand. “I was lost without you, I don’t know what would have happened if you hadn’t come back. And next time if...” Keith’s voice dropped, afraid to say the words out loud like they could come true if he acknowledged them. “It could be any random Galra attack or an accident. It’s dangerous. We might never come back.”
Shiro hesitated, a quiet sort of surprise settling over him before he confessed, “We’ve never really talked about that.”
Keith shrugged because, no, they hadn’t. It was an unavoidable risk that they’d all shouldered. This was the first time any of the paladins had the chance to walk away from it, but this entire trip had been about choice. They both deserved that.
Then Shiro slid his hand free and reached out to tip Keith’s head up to look at him. He traced his thumb down the side of his face before he leaned forward and stole a kiss. Sweet and gentle and oh so willing, Keith opened for him, sharing a startled breath before melting into it. “We decided to take that risk, and I want to take this one too. Whatever happens, I want to be with you.”
It was terrifying to think about how quickly this could all come apart. Their enemies weren’t always going to be powerful and intimidating, but they didn’t need to be. All it would take was one lucky shot in the worst sort of circumstances. It was a possibility they all knew could happen. Or Keith could decide he changed his mind about all this. Then Shiro didn’t know what he would do, because without Keith, he would be lost too.
Shiro knew there were some things they wouldn’t let happen, even if whatever they had didn’t work out. They were both too determined and too focused to let it hurt Voltron. Maybe they were just used to their personal concerns taking a backseat to their responsibilities. They hadn’t lived lives that allowed for much selfishness. And this thing, their bond, almost felt too selfish. Shiro didn’t know how it could feel this way, delicate and new, casting an unfamiliar glow on a well-worn friendship and turning it into something that looked completely different, but only for as long as it took him to recognize his best friend. It was fragile in one breath, but indestructible in the next, weighed down and braced by too much history and undeniable respect.
Shiro slowly combed Keith’s hair out of his face, tucking an errant strand behind his ear. “Please don’t stop being my friend, Keith. No matter what happens.”
He watched shock and confusion cut across Keith’s face, every emotion painted in broad strokes with too much honesty. When Keith told the truth, he told everything. And when fire lit behind his eyes, Shiro thought he would burn with him.
“Always.” Keith swore, pushing himself into Shiro’s space. The sudden weight of him made Shiro’s human arm buckle, but Keith just kept pushing. “No matter what, that won’t change.”
There was always the fear that what they built together in these quiet days wouldn’t last when they returned to space. They would have to face down their responsibilities again under the eyes of everyone they knew, but Shiro hoped that it would last. There was so much between them that was good and real, so much that shouldn’t change, but it was time that other things did. They’d been still too long, too afraid to take that next step or give words to their confessions. He wasn’t going to let them go back to their self-imposed silence ever again.
“Come on.” Shiro leaned in to steal a quick kiss with a casual intimacy that stole Keith’s breath away. “Let’s go swimming.”
“Let’s do what?” Keith made a loud noise of protest as Shiro pulled away and stood up. He made a distinctly less protesting noise when Shiro pulled his shirt off and set it carefully beside the tent.
“I’m tired of not taking the risk, so you and I are going to enjoy every last second of our time here. And I mean every second.” Shiro’s voice took on a playful note as he unbuttoned his pants, and Keith’s mouth fell open slightly. “I’m not wasting any more time.”
He liked the way Keith’s eyes tracked down his body and the way the tension in the air had pulled wire tight. This was another step and another limit, learning how to bring it all down so they could build something new. Besides, it had been a long time since anyone had looked at him like this with his body scarred and burned. Keith didn’t see scars or demand stories, and Shiro was never so grateful.
Shiro turned his back to Keith and pulled his pants down over his hips, letting them fall to the ground. He stretched back on his toes, showing off the muscles of his back with calculated purpose.
“You are such an ass, you know that? No one else ever believes me.” Keith rasped.
“And no one ever will.” There was a hint too much arrogance in his voice, but it was the satisfaction of a job well done, and Shiro looked over his shoulder just in time to watch Keith fight back a smile.
“Come on, Keith. If you’re scared, I can help you into the water,” Shiro said, in a tone that could have been supportive if it wasn’t pitched just so he could push every single one of Keith’s buttons. Keith growled, a sharp little thing soaked in annoyance, and as he pushed himself to his feet, gravel shifting beneath him, Shiro took off running.
The first splash of water was cold beneath his feet, and he inhaled sharply, ready to take things slower. Until long arms wrapped around his middle and he was tackled into the lake. Shiro didn’t even get to scream, the water cloudy with a thousand bubbles coming up around him. Then something kicked hard at his shins, and Shiro watched as Keith flailed his way to the surface. He came out sputtered, long black hair plastered to his face, and relieved. Then Shiro yanked him back under.
It was messy and silly, and Shiro vaguely remembered the first time he tried to spar with Keith, back when anger was his best friend’s shield and desperation his sword. Except this time Keith was sputtering and laughing, stuck between fury and delight, and when they finally got their balance back, he let Shiro hold him close, gasping for breath.
“You are such a jerk!” He yelled as Shiro just laughed and tickled his ribs until Keith splashed him.
“Here I was thinking you didn’t like my competitive side.” Shiro teased.
“I do, just when it’s something useful and not trying to show up some random Midwesterner.” Keith wrapped his arms around Shiro’s neck, pressing in closer to see how far they could go. There was nothing left between them but cool water and the last reflection of the sun’s light as it slipped between the surface.
“Mmm, I’ll keep that in mind. I’ll try harder next time.”
Keith pulled him down, sealing his mouth over Shiro’s, emboldened by the feel of slick bare skin across his own. He fit his body against his friend, daring and vulnerable all at once, as Shiro’s hands gentled and carefully slid down Keith’s sides. When he pulled away, they were both flushed despite the chill of the water, Keith’s lips shiny pink and so pretty that Shiro had a hard time looking away.
“I want you to know.” Shiro started, voice so hoarse that he had to clear his throat and try again. “I want you to know that whatever happens, that I’m glad I choose this. You and I are going to see this whole Voltron thing through to the end, that’s just who we are. Even if the others… However hard it gets, we’ll do it together.“
Keith quieted, his eyes flitting away as an old discomfort rose. The Red Paladin always looked so reserved, but Shiro knew that more than a little of that came from Keith not knowing if he was allowed to speak out. Not knowing if anyone would care to listen. Shiro wouldn’t push, but he would hold him, until Keith was ready.
"Do you think they’ll stay behind?”
Keith spoke like he was crossing a mine field, and the weight of the last two years turned its head. If Shiro tried, he knew he’d be able to find Her. His lion. She was always in his periphery, never obstructing, but a beacon he could find his way back to, if he chose to search. The Castle Ship was waiting for them just past Jupiter, somewhere the Alteans considered Earth’s back yard. And why not? With enough motivation, that was only a few seconds away. Shiro had once thought he’d spend his entire time on Earth remembering the new home he’d left behind. He wasn’t entirely wrong.
“Maybe.” Shiro conceded. It was a bitter sweet admission, one he’d tried to ignore ever since the offer was made.
“They’d deserve it.” Keith said. On anyone else, Shiro would have thought the words angry, but there was no one quite like Keith. “They deserve to be happy.”
He turned towards the sky, gaze faraway and misty, and Shiro thought Keith could find where his lion was too. But with his profile touched by moonlight, shadows sharpening the angles of his face, he didn’t look like he belonged on Earth. He looked like only the stars could touch him.
“They do.” Shiro agreed, and no matter what their team chose, they would celebrate not mourn. Because family was supposed to be on your side, even when it hurt. “Keith… Where would you go, after Voltron? If you could go anywhere.”
It broke his heart a little when Keith’s brows furrowed with hesitation.
“I don’t know.” The question seemed to take him by surprise and Shiro watched him grapple with the unfamiliar gifts of freedom and future. He’d trained his whole life for a single purpose, reaching the stars. He fought for others, putting his life on the line over and over again simply because someone had to. He faced down impossible odds to learn where he’d come from and had been ready to give up his quest, sacrificing his wants for everyone else. It was clear Keith had never even considered a time when he would be able to have the chance to decide his own fate, and Shiro ached for him.
“C’mon.” Shiro coaxed gently, tangling their legs together beneath the water. “Anywhere you want to go, anything you want to do.”
“I guess…I’d try to find out more about where I came from. I want to know where my family came from and how they got all the way to earth and why-, why everything.” Keith hadn’t ever said those words out loud to anyone before, wanting something for himself had always felt too selfish, but there was a piece of himself that was missing. A history that could fill in all those questions about who he was and what was his place in the universe. “It sounds stupid.”
“No, it’s important.” Shiro wouldn’t let him back down. “You’ll find the answers, I know you will. I’ve never met anyone more determined in my life.”
Keith tensed as he pressed closer, quietly hiding from the praise, but he still muttered a quiet thank you. “Maybe we’ll get an alien dog instead, it might suit you better.”
Shiro laughed, caught off guard and pleased by it. He could feel Keith’s grip tighten around his waist, his toes just barely touching the lake bed, and as the moon crawled across the sky, Shiro couldn’t think of anywhere else he’d rather be.
Then Keith surged up and dunked Shiro under the water.
