In 2018, archaeologists in Peru uncovered a 750-year-old passageway in the ancient city of Chan Chan, revealing 19 eerie wooden statues adorned with clay masks. These statues, believed to be from the Chimú empire (900–1470 A.D.), were found along a 100-foot corridor, making it a significant discovery in pre-Columbian history.
Standing at 27 inches tall, the statues hold scepters and shield-like objects, with each thought to represent a unique anthropomorphic figure. Archaeologist Henry Gayoso Rullier described them as potential "guardians," possibly from Chan Chan’s middle period between 1100 and 1300 A.D. This makes them the oldest sculptures found at the site.
Chan Chan, once the largest city in Pre-Columbian America, housed approximately 60,000 people in 10,000 structures before its decline following the Inca conquest.

But have we considered Jean grabbing the bottom of Jeremy’s chair and pulling it directly beside his chair so they can be close?? Have we considered the easy way Jean moves Jeremy and Jeremy’s startled little chuckle as he settles in beside Jean??

But there’s a catch:
This is a fun but real example from high-pressure physics experiments. Here’s how it works:
• Diamonds form under extreme pressure and temperature, like those found deep in the Earth’s mantle.
• Scientists at the Bayerisches Geoinstitut in Germany demonstrated that carbon-rich materials, including peanut butter (which contains a lot of carbon), can be compressed under conditions of about 1.3 million times atmospheric pressure and high temperatures to form diamond.
• They used devices like multi-anvil presses to achieve these conditions.
• However, the process is slow and inefficient, and peanut butter’s other elements (like hydrogen and oxygen) complicate things, often causing explosions during the process.
So yes—it’s possible, but not practical for industrial diamond production. It’s more of a scientific curiosity than a commercial method.

One more post for tonight!
A question I have for all g/t creators or consumers: what piece of media do you think led to your ‘g/t awakening’?
I literally downloaded this app yesterday so im not expecting a huge response 😭, but I hope enough people reblog this because im actually so interested in the answer.
I often look back on shows or episodes of shows i liked when i was younger, and can’t help but think it’s no surprise how i grew up to join the g/t community. For example, my favorite movies were Tinkerbell: The Great Fairy Rescue, Epic, and Monsters vs. Aliens. I also reread the book series Indian in the Cupboard at least 20 times when I was in elementary school.

as a fic author myself, i absolutely agree! i dont keep my audience's attention because i spell things out. the way i write is more a cacophony of red herrings and true foreshadowing. by layering in things that both do and dont make sense in context.
you have to throw them into the wild. dont show. tell. this is a motto i live by when i write. i take myself and put myself into the character. the character doesnt know whats going to happen. the character can only follow the plot and react and learn.
you as the writer have to weave a web of mystery. build a labrynth of dead pathways and possibilities. foreshadow the path that will be taken with one off details or consistently comparing things in certain ways. it grabs the reader's attention and peaks their interest.
your writing style can play into it as well. personally, mine always reflects the character who's pov it is. i will always make it read like a person is talking or rambling in their own head. it just comes alive for me easier that way. it makes the story come alive and become more immersive, which will grab attention more and keep people reading. that's how mine plays into it.
play with your readers, play with your wording, play with your writing style. have fun and show your true potential!!

Brazilian photographer Sebastião Salgado and his wife, Lélia Deluiz Wanick Salgado, have been instrumental in reforesting the Rio Doce Basin area in Brazil since 1998. Through their organization, Instituto Terra, they have planted over 2.7 million trees, successfully restoring more than 550 acres of forest and 2,000 natural springs.
Their efforts have transformed a once barren landscape into a thriving forest ecosystem, demonstrating the profound impact that dedicated reforestation initiatives can have on environmental restoration.
