This has been chilling in my mind since I first saw ZivaZivcs comic and I finally got the energy to make it XD
#my art#dreamworks trolls#trolls 3#trolls band together#john dory#creek trolls#the orange troll is actually a deleted troll from the og movie known as Aspen Heitz#he has green hair in 3d and blue in 2d so i mixed the colors to get the hair i used here#any way#also i used chongos comic as like a reference for the posing and stuff#and like this is what it looks like in the comic but when put into trolls#it lind of looks like Aspen is like comforting his boyfriend creek#and i did not intend for that i just noticed it while coloring and i was like welp#and did not fix it#maybe im just overthinking it#it may just be the closeness due to troll proportions#also the holding hands on the shoulder#but it was in the og so its here too#also i love the scary jd render#whyd they make him so scary ill never know but man does it make for good comedy#i was orginally gonna draw jd too but then when i sketched him he just looked like the render and i was like you know what-#i also thought of using a fake png but that qas too much#so you get real png jd

Namely that we really should have ended the flashback when WWX fell.#And then gone back to present time for a bit - or even go to a different flashback.#The sense of time passing isn't as strong as it *could* be.#We get *told* three months pass and that they've been looking for WWX. But to the audience it's been...15 min.#Less than seven minutes if you count the flute playing.#This guy when through a whole aesthetic and persona shift in less time than it takes to walk through a corn field.#Guy who listened to less than half an emo album and dyed all his clothes black. And jorted all his jeans.#Timeskips can be sudden and work out just fine! I personally feel like this one would be stronger with better pacing.#Feel free to disagree with me!#In case anyone is wondering why JC and LWJ are still holding hands: 1) Haunted house episode.#2) I needed to practice drawing hand holding at some point. Might as well get the rough and sloppy ones out with these two.

#jrwi riptide#gillion tidestrider#my art#sketch#back on my bullshit woo yeah woo yeah woo yeah#genuinely a lot happier with this design than the previous ones. the lighter metal looks better on him#and this one doesn't have a lot of detail (or any detail tbh) so it looks more solid and fun i think#and you can see im trying to figure out how gill would carry his sword around#technically he should just carry it in his hands and don't have a scabbard because its a longsword and isn't supposed to be sheathed...#but like... its not practical to always carry it in his hands. especially in a day to day life. because he always has the sword on him-#but he doesn't necessarily always hold it? like. he needs hands for stuff#i think i like the back scabbard better (even if i drew the whole turnaround for the hip one) just because it doesn't mess with his tail#plus that way destiny's blade is higher up and gets to look around at stuff and i think its funny#but then like... the cape is a little awkward if it has to go above the sword...#but its not a big deal. if he has a cape and armor on he probably holds the sword in his hands anyway#am i putting too much thought into this unnecessary detail? yes#am i rambling in the tags again instead of making a separate post? also yes
