something about the idea of benson reminding randy to be good. to call his mom, to let her know where he is, drives me crazy.

like maybe behind closed doors he rants about her being an overbearing insane bitch, but in front of others he looks for all the world like he loves her.

he says "good. let your mom know" when randy accepts going somewhere with him after work.

over an average shared lunch break at the shitty bbb breakroom you can hear him instructing randy to "remind your mom we're getting her car fixed tomorrow".

when they get invited to one of donnie's parties and randy seems excited about it, benson kisses his temple and says " 'member to tell your mom about it, sweetheart".

he even agrees with her when she's nagging randy at the door to take his coat and his umbrella. says "i'll make sure he uses them".

just benson hating her guts, rolling his eyes at her at every opportunity he gets, but doing everything in his power to avoid randy getting in trouble with her anyways. bc he knows it stresses randy out. knows it makes his anxiety worse.

i know i haven't uploaded a new chapter for this fic in over half a year... and i probably won't any time soon... but here's some lore explained w/ virgil
