“trans people deserve medical autonomy and human rights and basic human decency even if they are bad people” and “bullying is not allowed within social support groups even if you are all the same type of minority” are both true statements that can and should coexist

I think the reason that social media has become as toxic as it is, is because a lot of people view accounts as the person, and not just some journal where the person occasionally jots down an incomplete thought.
Like, not every post is an eternal, declarative manifesto. Some of us are just thinking out loud, Mary.
Just because you have a window into my soul doesn't mean you know the entire floor plan.

Hey so question: what made you not give a majority of the souls a lack of stripes? Yk the child norm of wearing stripes JUST CURIOUS and also!! Who's your favourite soul. PICK ONE NO SAYING ALL OF THEM. But if it's okay :3 (ALSO DO YOU HAVE MORE FALLEN KID DOODLES? HEARTTOHEART STUFF? Sorry!!)
Ah so you see….there’s a very simple answer to why no stripes……………..✨I’m stupid and forgot✨
Aghaha uh i. Am trying to incorporate them more into the 2025 redesigns. Coloring Aimee’s shorts with more of a striped pattern, jackie’s sweater has vertical stripes along the arms. Dove striped tie. Jade’s shirt has stripes, might move them just to the apron. If someone wants to present themself as less childish then my reasoning is they forgoe the stripes. Lilac doesnt want to be seen as childish so they don’t do stripes. Yeah😀👍perfect retcon
I wish i could say i dont have favorites and my love is divided evenly. But one of these kids has 100+ more drawings than the rest of the group.

"Is social media designed to reward people for acting badly?
The answer is clearly yes, given that the reward structure on social media platforms relies on popularity, as indicated by the number of responses – likes and comments – a post receives from other users. Black-box algorithms then further amplify the spread of posts that have attracted attention.
Sharing widely read content, by itself, isn’t a problem. But it becomes a problem when attention-getting, controversial content is prioritized by design. Given the design of social media sites, users form habits to automatically share the most engaging information regardless of its accuracy and potential harm. Offensive statements, attacks on out groups and false news are amplified, and misinformation often spreads further and faster than the truth.
We are two social psychologists and a marketing scholar. Our research, presented at the 2023 Nobel Prize Summit, shows that social media actually has the ability to create user habits to share high-quality content. After a few tweaks to the reward structure of social media platforms, users begin to share information that is accurate and fact-based...
Re-targeting rewards
To investigate the effect of a new reward structure, we gave financial rewards to some users for sharing accurate content and not sharing misinformation. These financial rewards simulated the positive social feedback, such as likes, that users typically receive when they share content on platforms. In essence, we created a new reward structure based on accuracy instead of attention.
As on popular social media platforms, participants in our research learned what got rewarded by sharing information and observing the outcome, without being explicitly informed of the rewards beforehand. This means that the intervention did not change the users’ goals, just their online experiences. After the change in reward structure, participants shared significantly more content that was accurate. More remarkably, users continued to share accurate content even after we removed rewards for accuracy in a subsequent round of testing. These results show that users can be given incentives to share accurate information as a matter of habit.
A different group of users received rewards for sharing misinformation and for not sharing accurate content. Surprisingly, their sharing most resembled that of users who shared news as they normally would, without any financial reward. The striking similarity between these groups reveals that social media platforms encourage users to share attention-getting content that engages others at the expense of accuracy and safety...
Doing right and doing well
Our approach, using the existing rewards on social media to create incentives for accuracy, tackles misinformation spread without significantly disrupting the sites’ business model. This has the additional advantage of altering rewards instead of introducing content restrictions, which are often controversial and costly in financial and human terms.
Implementing our proposed reward system for news sharing carries minimal costs and can be easily integrated into existing platforms. The key idea is to provide users with rewards in the form of social recognition when they share accurate news content. This can be achieved by introducing response buttons to indicate trust and accuracy. By incorporating social recognition for accurate content, algorithms that amplify popular content can leverage crowdsourcing to identify and amplify truthful information.
Both sides of the political aisle now agree that social media has challenges, and our data pinpoints the root of the problem: the design of social media platforms."
And here's the video of one of the scientsts presenting this research at the Nobel Prize Summit!

Was thinking about how much of a normo I come across as irl, how I’ve felt a lil odd person out at their shows bc of being a bit older (29) and looking so aggressively normal, how generally confused people in my life would be if they knew about my d&p obsession, how thoroughly i mask weirder traits and essentially codeswitch to suit the mainstream, etc.
i feel kind of fish out of water when I imagine how all the people that populate my tumblr phandom ecosystem are likely presenting to the world irl (I.e. more visibly queer, counterculture, and so on). But then I think maybe the most visible phannies are the ones with the most curated, alt, deliberate daytoday lewks/style? So maybe what I’m picturing is off base? But then I’m also basing this off of what audiences look like in audience footage, m&gs, etc.
Sooooooo i would like to know… do you guys feel like you present as someone who may be Deeply Online and obsessed with two gay nerds from the internet? Or do you hide it and fly under the radar, masking as a total normy and living a double life?
(To clarify I don’t mean you’re like out and about wearing the fringes boob sweatshirt lol I more mean vibes and overall lewk yk?)

Fun how the great women's rights defender JKR used her massive media platform to accuse a biologically female athlete of being a bloke without even a shred of consideration that the above mentioned athlete will go home to her rather conservative country after the games and potentially have to deal with unpleasant and even dangerous consequences of having one of the most famous persons alive publicly lied that you were a male in disguise

You probably wanna avoid interacting with Chai btw. They’re just a toxic person who condones doxxing and harassment based on ships. Only sending this as a warning in case you weren’t aware of the things they’ve done, a lot of their fans have been bullying critics and downplaying what they’ve done and said. I literally don’t trust any of their mutuals it’s all internet brainrot
Frankly, Anon, I think you and I have fundamentally different ideas of what Toxic is. For example, I think lying about someone simply because you don't like them is toxic.
Chai has always been a vocal advocate of letting people ship whatever they want in fiction for the last 2 years I have been following his social media. It is something so consistent, in fact, that I am entirely comfortable saying that portion of your post is a blatant lie.
Second, if there are fans of Chai, their actions are their own. Once again, Chai has always been very accepting of shipping whatever anyone wants to ship so long as they don't harm real people and animals. If so-called "fans" wish to act out, that isn't Chai's problem. Unlike Medrano, Chai has told his audience to not engage in that sort of behavior. So he has done his due diligence and is not responsible for the actions of others in my opinion.
I am not a friend of Chai, I have barely talked to him in fact. I personally follow him because he does have connections and information I use to form my thoughts on Spindlehorse and Medrano's character. Not based on Chai's opinions, but on the patterns of behavior Chai has been able to bring to light by knowing those who were directly involved with Medrano.
If you genuinely believe these falsehoods and are earnestly looking out for some stranger on the internet, then rest assured I hear you and am able to say with personal certainty that the information you have is simply incorrect.
But on the off chance that I am wrong, I do request you bring me evidence instead of making baseless accusations the next time you have a concern.

PSA: PLEASE DO NOT FOLLOW THIS ACCOUNT
this is not my account. this person has been using my name on various social media accounts since 2016, almost always with this black and white masked avatar
i noticed them back in 2020 when i saw their youtube account, but didn't pay it much mind at the time because it was. clearly obvious which account was mine. but since then they've taken my username on twitch, itch.io, bluesky, and god knows how many other sites (frustratingly forcing me to be "miodiodavincii" on most of them)
so please just be aware that this is not me. my public accounts are all listed on my carrd or linked to each other, and almost always feature the hachikyo icon or some variation thereof. i'm seriously frustrated this time because a ton of my friends have already followed this account thinking it's me, when really it's just some. complete stranger who is weirdly addicted to using my username for every single account of theirs (see examples below)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
this whole situation has frustrated me enough, though, so i ahead and made a bluesky for real. please be aware that this is my real bluesky. i'm not associated with any of the black and white accounts. if you followed the other account thinking it was me, please be sure to unfollow and refollow the correct account OTL
