It might not be over Steph fans, her series got a reprint and now this.
This post is still somehow gaining traction despite my reblog explaining the new information, but instead of deleting the post I'll just leave the link to my other post where I explain this might've been cancelled. (sorry again Steph fans. 😭)

No but really. We need to talk about how Jeremy Adams does not understand the characters he's trying to write.
His Hal and Carol are supposed to be post Parallax / post Coast City tragedy. Do they read that way? Absolutely NOT.
They read like teenagers. They both read as obnoxious and annoying, which, granted, they can be, but they don't have half the maturity that even Geoff Johns knew to give them. Even Geoff Johns did a better job at writing them than Jeremy is doing right now.
If I have to pinpoint the main issue, is that Hal is written like Jeremy writes Wally, and Carol is written like Linda. They do NOT seem like Hal and Carol. They do not even have the same personalities they have grown to have in comics throughout different writers.
Hal is a stalker creep who cannot take no for an answer.
Carol is naive, hormonal and immature.
The story is written like a straightforward romance, when it's anything but. And the bad behavior of both of them (Hal's stalking, Carol’s manipulation) is rewarded and taken as ultimate romantic gestures when Jeremy rushes their relationship and makes them be together again.
Don't get me wrong. Hal/Carol being toxic IS a staple of their relationship, but before now it was always acknowledged that their relationship was actually, indeed, toxic. Before it was acknowledged that they needed to continue growing as adults and be mature enough before attempting to be together again.
Now? Now what we get is a Hal who harrasses Carol until she "gives in", because of course her "no" cannot be taken seriously. Even Barry tells Hal to ignore Carol's initial rejection, how can she mean it, don't you see they're meant to be:
And then Carol is written like she needs to trick her own fiance into marrying her (the fiance is a whole other point of contention with Jeremy's writing), only to then be too emotional, leaving her fiance at the altar to chase after Hal. Because Hal was right, of course, Hal was right to not take her no seriously, how can such an emotional woman be taken seriously.
I do not know how else to say that these characters are supposed to be grown adults that have overcome the tragedy that was Parallax. They should NOT act like entitled teenagers. Hal is supposed to be wiser. Carol is supposed to have an actual spine.
What Jeremy is doing is a total regression of the characters, but Carol in particular. We are taking a thousand steps back when it comes to her and her character development, and now she's reduced into a naive, insecure, Hal-dependent mess that needs to be told what to do because of course she doesn't understand heroism--despite the fact that she's used her ring before.
Initially I thought we would have a Hal who is kind of an asshole, but is mature enough to know when to stop with the asshole act. Instead, what we have is a Hal who is too fucking stupid and acts like a teenager that just discovered which of his own hands feels better when he's jerking off.
If Jeremy didn't have Xermanico's art on his side, this run wouldn't have been as well perceived as it has been so far. He clearly does not understand any of the Green Lantern characters. I dare say he doesn't understand Barry either.

It's likely that upcoming Steph book is either Teen Titans or Young Justice considering that the West twins were also recently revealed for it, plus there was some Damian artwork from a while back that Travis Mercer was also working on.
Very interested in seeing what it is.
My hope is Steph isn't aged down for this particular title, but tbh she can be 18-19 and still be on either team I mentioned.

Learning Jeremy Adams is a conservative is even worse than learning he's a batcest shipper.
