It's only a few, *checks calendar* nine days late, but it's pride month! So I thought I'd share my head cannons for these guys haha. They're only personal head cannons of course but this is whats gonna be represented in my AU stuff (I have two, one with both Juliana and Florian, and one with my player character)

So! I'll go ahead and explain my head cannons, starting from left to right!

So, Camine is an ally in my headcannon! I think if the right situation arose she wouldn't be against dating a girl, but I don't think it's really something she thinks about often so she just identifies as straight, but she's very supportive of her brother and will beat anyone up who tries to bully him for it, although sometimes she does tease him herself.

Kieran is bi in my headcannon, I think like Carmine he didn't really think about it much and kind of just assumed he was straight, but after he met Florian he started to question it and realized he likes both. He is also in a relationship with Florian!

Florian is gay in headcannon, he actively crushes on a lot of guys but only actually likes Kieran(this makes him jealous sometimes.) He's identical twins with Juliana.

Arven in my headcannon is demi! He usually focuses more on his own thing than love and doesn't have much interest in pursuing it. He thinks of Florian and Juliana as sort of younger siblings and they think the same of him, being an older brother type of influence. He has a very good relationship with both of them but is closer to Florian.

Juliana is! Well she's something! I don't think she has an overall label in mind but she's definitely some kind of queer. She's in a relationship with Nemona, although it took her a while to be able to confess and Nemona was not picking up on her feelings at all.

Nemona is pan in my headcannon! She doesn't really care about gender or anything like that when it comes to relationships, everyone is on equal footing to her, especially if they want to battle. (she is hyperfixated on battling and will not be stopped, she still loves Juliana very much though.)

Penny is lesbian in my headcannon uvu. She's calm about it irl but she's down bad on her social media. She totally has a crush on Juliana and Florians mom lol.

kieran and javier are taking turns annoying people with 'whats in your pants' memes intentionally put the weirdest things in their pockets like someone asks their gender and 'oh look three buttons a can of tuna and an opened pack of gum. who wants gum?' labels are too overwhelming they both identify as queer there is nothing cishet about either of them. crying over margaritas together why are we single when every single person in the world is so hot?

arthur and charles keep going on stranger missions to help find lost pins, escorting the youth to the <18 events and handing out water bottles. arthur does struggle with getting mistaken for a right-wing protestor because big scowl-y muscle tall white man with old timey cowboy hat and needs charles to rescue him from getting yelled at because he is too polite to interrupt people.

hosea and bessie were meant to be supervising dutch and bessie had way too much fun explaining this is my husband and my husband's boyfriend. hosea fumbling trying to explain he's not my boyfriend i love my wife. meanwhile dutch escapes and bessie and hosea both just sit down like oh no. this is. bad.

dutch is attracted to the sound of angry shouting like a moth to flame. micah (who does support the gays because his grand-nephew is gay (kai is not gay but is glad the misunderstanding has lead to micah being a better person)), isaac, jack and dutch all put aside their differences for one day and will get arrested for assault and 'infringing on the right to protest' while physically fighting bigots.

annabelle and susan are wearing their 'dutch van der linde made us lesbians' shirts while also holding 'we exist' banners and people think they assume they're referring to vintage lesbians but of course they mean lesbians throughout history including 19th century and long before they have always existed and always will go sapphos

abigail is going out of her way to break hearts she is calling people gorgeous and kissing their cheeks before running off like a manic pixie dream girl to continue the mission to fight whoever it was that gave john their number. john does not understand phone numbers he's being given scraps of paper with numbers on them wondering if it's some kind of encrypted treasure map. also he's genuinely afraid of furries. hiding behind his wife what the fuck are those.

One of the worst cases I’ve personally encountered of “if you don’t like X ship you’re [insert-here]phobic” is believe it or not in the damn Monster High fandom.

One of the most popular ships is Draculaura X Clawdeen. In the movies and webisodes, Clawdeen vocally has very little interest in boys and dating, so it was a popular headcanon for years that she was a lesbian. A couple years ago the creator of Monster High, Garrett Sanders, did a QnA session on Instagram and one of the questions was whether or not Clawdeen was a lesbian. Garrett said straight out that Clawdeen was not written to be a lesbian, they just wanted a character on the main cast who wasn’t boy-crazy, but that he was fully in support of headcanoning her as gay. And that’s all fine, people kept making their ship content, they kept supporting their headcanon, life went on.

A while later - I’m not sure when exactly because I don’t follow him on Insta - Garrett went back on what he’d said before (maybe not went back, he didn’t contradict the old statement) and decided that Clawdeen was lesbian, and like— that’s perfectly fine for him to do. They’re his characters, he made them. The problem is, this is years after he stopped working for Mattel. People can absolutely look to him as an authority on Monster High if they want because again, these are his characters and his world for the most part, he started it! But he has no legal rights over the property anymore. Anything he says is no more officially canon than anything I say about it, but unfortunately a very vocal part of the fandom either don’t realise that or don’t care, and by God, they are some of the most entitled people I’ve ever seen. Every other post on the MH official page will have comments like “lesbian Clawdeen when” “give Clawdeen a girlfriend”, demanding something that was never canon and was never intended to be canon. I don’t like Clawdeen X Draculaura personally, I like the characters, but I’m not into the ship. If it weren’t for those kinds of people, I would be neutral about it, but because of them I have a knee-jerk reaction whenever I see Clawdeen X Drac because a lot of people have this attitude of, like, “Well, who ELSE would you ship Clawdeen with? 🤨” You should’ve seen them lose their shit at the prospect of Clawdeen liking Deuce Gorgon in the gen 3 reboot.

What bugs me about this all the more is that there are characters who were ACTUALLY meant to be queer that Mattel shut down. Kieran Valentine, an energy vampire who romances girls and then breaks their hearts, was originally supposed to have an arc where he realised he was chasing fake love because he was ashamed of being gay, and he would eventually come to accept himself, with his coming-out being written in the diary that came with his doll. Mattel said “no” because it was “putting an LGBT person in a negative light” — even though he was created and his story written by, you guessed it, Garrett Sanders, the only out gay person on the team at the time. Neighthan Rot was confirmed again by Garrett to have been intended as queer, and Finnegan Wake was supposed to be “not straight”, but the powers that be wouldn’t let them do it. The fandom does acknowledge this, but I feel its so heavily overshadowed by this entitlement that people have towards their fave getting the sexuality they want, forgetting or wilfully ignoring that it was never promised to them in the first place unlike the characters that actually got snubbed. Gen 3 is already shaping up to be more diverse in regards to queer stuff, with Frankie being non-binary, Deuce having two mothers, and I’m sure more to come, but nope, some people just want to keep whining that Clawdeen isn’t the sexuality they think she should be. Frustrates me to no end.

77) Barbie (Movie, 2023)

What a wildly meta take on the most famous plastic doll in the world, this movie is a pink-tinted ride from start to finish with a lot of words to say about the patriarchy and consumerism, and it does it in such a strange way that I honestly have mad respect for. It's easy to see why it popped off so hard, it was fun and had very explicit political theming, as well as that banger Ken song. Very quirky movie that I enjoyed. [4.5★]

78) Sonic Dream Team (iOS, 2023)

Maybe I would have enjoyed this more had I played it on a device that ran it a bit better, but still, this was a pretty nice surprise drop from Sega's mobile game developers. You wouldn't expect an Apple Arcade exclusive Sonic title to have levels as fun as these with characters that play fairly well, but here it is, and I'm here for it. Short but sweet, a nice experience that doesn't offer much but what it does have is pretty good. I will say, some characters do sound kind of bad, though. Maybe they need better directing on the next one. Also I like Ariem, do more with her please. [3.5★]

79) Bocchi the Rock! (Anime, 2022)

Every social anxious gay girlie's favourite pink blob really is that pathetic, but honestly the show is pretty real about it once you look past the delightfully expressive nonsense going on with her animations. Genuinely like how joining a band doesn't magically improve Bocchi and she's still a nervous weirdo like a lot of us are or have been, but instead she just makes slow progress with a support network around her. And it does help the show's case that it's just a fun watch with some really good music, drawing inspiration from the likes of Asian Kung-Fu Generation (the main case are named after them lol). I was a year late to Bocchi, but now I totally get it. [4.5★]

80) Pokémon Violet: The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero (Switch DLC, 2023)

Pokémon DLC seems to be their "thing" now, and I can't complain because this stuff is genuinely pretty good, though not as exceptional as the main game. Fun new and returning creatures in brand new environments from different parts of the world, being a new part of whatever the Japan stand-in is called as well as the ocean around Unova (which they really have been pandering to), along with a genuinely pretty solid character arc for the new boy Kieran and a nice supporting cast. I don't think this DLC as a whole is anything mindblowing, but it adds some substantial new content to what is one of my favourite games in the series in spite of everything it has going against it. There's an epilogue to this coming too, but that already "leaked" because they left it in the game. Oh, Game Freak. [4★]

81) I'm in Love with the Villainess (Anime, 2023)

Himejoshi of the world rejoiced, for the series they have been gassing up for ages finally made it into anime form, and it was really quite good. What is initially just a silly romantic comedy about a girl who is just extremely gay for the villainess of the game world she was reborn into ends up having some pretty genuine moments with discussions of homophobia and sad backstories that hit. What I hope to be able to call the "first season" covered a nice amount of content and ended on just the right note to get you wanting more, and overall it's just very gay and very good. Helps that the light novels' author seems like a real one too, she's interacted with fans in every language she's able to and I'll have to read her original work. [4.5★]

82) Doctor Who 2023 Specials (TV, 2023)

Doctor Who is back, and they brought back an old showrunner and even an old Doctor for a bit to pretty entertaining results, along with introducing the next Doctor in a divisive but interesting way. I will say, some odd decisions were made there, but I don't really mind too much, as the special episodes released within the last couple months of the year were really fun adventures. Concluding a story that's over a decade old, introducing genuinely good trans rep, finally going back to a classic-era villain just to kick his ass, it's great to see. I think Wild Blue Yonder was the best of these, being perfectly weird as good Doctor Who often is, but they were all nice. Christmas special showed promise for 2024's upcoming series too, May can't come soon enough. [4★]

82.1) Doctor Who: The Daleks Colour Special (TV, 2023)

A curious addition to the 60th anniversary of the series was a cut-down edit of the Daleks' original serial from the 1960s remade in colour with unnecessary inclusions of music and some odd choices of what to trim from it. I'm not sure it was very good, but it was nice of them to bring back a frankly ancient story in a new way. An interesting experiment, perhaps.

82.2) Doctor Who: Liberation of the Daleks (Comic, 2023)

Apparently they want you to read this if you want to know what happened to the previous Sonic Screwdriver, which is kind of funny because that's not actually that big a deal within this rather silly story. It's a short and weird comic plot featuring a virtual multiverse of different quirky Daleks, yet another excuse to have them in something because they weren't in the main specials. I kinda liked it, though, it was fun enough.

83/84) Scott Pilgrim (Comic, 2004-2010)/Vs The World (Movie, 2010)

Took me long enough to get into this series, and yeah it is actually pretty good. Shitty people bumbling into improvement is something that does require reading comprehension to enjoy (lol) but this is a good story where you're obviously supposed to know Scott and indeed several of the other characters have and do make a lot of mistakes. The movie does make this worse as well, kinda skimming over most of the comics' storyline, but it's well-directed so it's good enough if you want to watch it. Really has fun with it, and the series is in fact quite funny especially with how pathetic the lead character is. I do recommend reading the comics, it's a series with a fun vibe but also they say the R-slur a few times because it was the 2000s so watch out for that. Luckily other media in the series avoids doing that, because by the 2010s most people figured you shouldn't say that. [4★/3.5★] 85) Scott Pilgrim Takes Off (Anime, 2023)

I can't believe they actually made Rebuild of Scott Pilgrim and that's not really hyperbole, this new Netflix anime based on the series does a great job of both deconstructing and fleshing out the source material in some really nice ways. Characters previously treated largely as jokes in the movie especially (poor Roxie) get a lot more thought put into them and many of the cast end up happier. I don't want to spoil a lot, but this is some good stuff that comes at everything from a different angle without sacrificing too much of what made the original stuff stand out. Might be my favourite of these. [4.5★]

86) Neo Yokio (Anime, 2017)

This show is so fucking stupid, so naturally it's the last thing I watched in 2023. It's some vapid rich person hipster shit but I think it knows that, and a lot of the comedy comes from that, but I feel some of the funny stuff is unintended too. Frankly it's hard to tell what angle it's going for, and it does have one kinda transphobic Ranma 1/2 parody, so I'm not sure if I'd recommend it in good faith, but it was a good thing to just mindlessly watch and laugh at from time to time. I'll watch the Christmas special at some point. [NEO YOKIO★]

And thus, the media "thread" comes to an end. That sure was a year in my life where I consumed media, I can say that much. Maybe for 2024 I'll be better at keeping up with this thing, but no promises. Still, this was fun enough.

Activists rise up against lesbian group trying to host “born female only” event

A trans-exclusionary radical feminist (TERF) organization called the Lesbian Action Group applied for an exemption from Australia’s anti-discrimination act so it could hold a lesbian event that excluded trans women. The Alliance was founded in 2019 in opposition to Stonewall’s stance on gender identity issues, specifically that of medically transitioning children, which the Alliance argues is a form of gay “conversion therapy.” 

According to the organization, the recently-announced helpline effort aims to support persons aged 13-25, as well as their family and friends, by facilitating up to 60,000 calls per year. 

In their announcement on Twitter, LGB Alliance state that the phone lines will be operated by a fully-trained staff of professionals.

LGB Alliance went on to state that there is currently no “dedicated national service of this type for LGB young people” and that they helpline will help fill a gap in existing provisions.

Speaking with Reduxx, Kate Barker, the Managing Director of LGB Alliance, said that the charity was “thrilled” to receive the funding. 

“This grant was the culmination of months of work by a brilliant team of volunteers who were truly delighted by the news. We believe young lesbian, gay and bisexual people deserve to know that being same-sex attracted is natural,” Barker said.

“[LGB young people] should be able to speak to someone who accepts them just as they are – their bodies and who they are attracted to. We say, unequivocally, you’re amazing and being same-sex attracted is valid, positive and to be celebrated.”

While women’s rights advocates and LGB people expressed excitement at the news, trans activists immediately slammed the decision as ‘transphobic’ and ‘exclusionary’ as the focus would not be on transgender-identified people.

“This is harmful. LGB is nothing without the T. @LottoGoodCauses do us a good cause and support trans lives just as much as others.” User @domvlogs user said in response to the funding announcement.

“There is something deeply sinister about groups that aim to protect marginalized social groups but pointedly NOT trans people. Especially children. That is so despicable,” wrote another. 

One Twitter user even went so far as to state that the helpline was “going to kill kids,” with the tweet receiving over 24,000 ‘likes’ at the time of this writing.

Multiple helpline services currently exist in the UK which support LGB, transgender, and “queer” people. One such example is Switchboard, which has been in operation since 1975. Specific helpline services exclusively for trans people are also available, such as Mindline Trans which “is an emotional and mental health support helpline for anyone identifying as transgender, non-binary, genderfluid.”

Despite similar services existing that specifically support those with issues relating to gender identity, trans activists have begun pushing back against the National Lottery Community Funds decision to grand LGB Alliance funding, and have launched a campaign urging people to file complaints in an effort to get the grant pulled. 

One activist, Kieran James, posted a copy of his complaint on social media. The message read: “I beg you to reconsider this decision, taking into account the profound distress, anxiety and fear of the LGBTQ+ community that such a blatantly exclusionary project could be allowed to exist.” 

Rob McDowall, chair of Welfare Scotland, also stated that he would be “raising concerns” with the National Lottery Community Fund over this decision. 

Reacting to the backlash, Kate Barker says, “whilst the response from LGB people was overwhelmingly positive, we were disappointed by others who appear to be vehemently anti-choice.”

Barker points out that there are many existing specialized support services for people with specific gender identifications, but none exclusively for same-sex attracted youth. 

“The view that lesbian, gay and bisexual young people should be denied the same opportunity to be helped smacks of homophobia.”

Barker’s sentiment was shared by many, some of whom took to the National lottery Community Fund’s Twitter replies to thank them for supporting the initiative. 

“It’s 2022 and homophobes are giving LGB Alliance a hard time. They deserve the money to do what they do to help support [same sex attracted] people. Thank you for the support”, one user wrote.

BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN IS A CULTURAL AND SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCE FOR THE ENTIRE GANG

Kieran was the one who discovered it, admittedly just seeing cowboy hats and pictures of horses and sheep and going yay western movie because he still can't read and the images on the dvd cover were not suggestive in the slightest.

He proceeded to watch it alone, mouth hanging open, edge of his seat, going through the emotional rollercoaster that is Brokeback Mountain. The second he finished it he very urgently walked around the house and dragged as many of the 1899 gang into the living room and forced them to sit on the couch 'you need to watch this right now'.

Emotional damage on mass scale. Lenny and Sean watch it curled up in each other's arms and just absolutely entangled in each other for support with Sean just crying into Lenny's back. Can of beans becomes the code for lube.

Hosea and Arthur going through the 'watching sex scenes with your parent/child' awkwardness but both are just projecting so hard they really do need the emotional support to get through the movie. Like Arthur is very much trying not to cry thinking about Charles at the end and Hosea just has to put a hand on his shoulder.

Bill's entire sense of being is shattered and put together again over 134 minutes. It becomes his go to comfort movie. The way the film creates homophobia and the sexual and narrative tension of how much they want to be together despite the era? The terror of making that one mistake and getting caught - Brokeback Mountain was created specifically to target Bill Williamson and it gets him every single time.

If not for Brokeback Mountain, Bill might have taken an extra 2-5 business years to actually be able to admit to himself he is gay. It was his modern era reawakening.

Backstory:

Kieran was born to second generation familiar, his father a mallard duck and his mother a human who came to faerune after marrying his father. He’s the oldest of two sets of triplets, his triplet set being two girls and a boy and his younger siblings being two boys and a girl. His father is bonded with a female witch who Kieran has always considered an aunt, his mother never found the right witch but spent periods with many different people trying to find the right fit. Kieran grew up speaking both English and Faerune Sign Language because his father is naturally deaf. All of the kids also know echolocation as both of their parents use it in their familiar forms.

Kieran’s always wanted a relationship like the one his father has with his witch and felt immensely jealous when both of his sisters found their witches in their early twenties. He’s always spent more time in his human form than his familiar form mostly because both of his parents kept jobs and a home, which they expected their children to do as well. However, ever since he was a small child they would go on family hunting trips, especially the kids who took owl forms as their hunting drive is very high. Kieran spends a lot of time de-stressing and blowing off steam by flying around and hunting in his familiar form, which is a barn owl. 

After a falling out with the witch he thought would form a life bond with Kieran spent a few years in the mortal realm and didn’t take on his familiar form for four years. He decided to go to culinary school in the US, specifically New York City, which felt a lot like Faerune to him. During this time he also learned American Sign Language and Spanish. He decided to return to Faerune two years ago after his mother was diagnosed with cancer and she died a little less than a year later. Being the oldest, Kieran has stayed in Faerune to support his dad and his siblings. During one of his flights he saw Ezra practicing Faerune Sign Language and, sensing that he was a witch, immediately decided to become his familiar because he knew he could help Ezra in a way most familiars could not.

Drug Cartels (Part 2)

Lionel Luthor wasn't the only one with a family. Your father (Y/F/N) found your mother around the same time that Lionel found his future wife. (Y/F/N) went on a small vacation in Europe before going back to Mexico to deal with the drug business. Your mother and father hit off quickly and continued to pursue this relationship. Your parents never got officially married but in the eyes of their cartel family, it looked like they were. Ever since you were born, Los Reyes Alfa Cartel was always there for you. Despite not being connected by blood, they were highly considered your family. 

Your parents and you made so many connections and each member treated you as their own daughter too. Although your parents are drug lords, they never really used their power to scare people unless they were disloyal or a danger to the community. Your father was the iron fist while your mother represented the caring hands. It was perfect. 

People who work for Los Reyes Alfa were well taken care of. Children felt safe within the cartel and they were able to go to school without any financial issues due to the cartel providing. The elderly were watched over and the poor were not so poor. Los Reyes Alfa were never selfish or greedy about the money they make. They rather give it away to those who need it then keeping it all to themselves. 

When you turned 24, your parents handed over the power to you. They no longer wanted to be part of it due to them being highly wanted from the feds and that they wanted to live the rest of their lives in peace. You didn’t mind the transition of power and your parents trained you ever since you were a kid. 

They went into hiding after they sent out their condolences to Lionel Luthor. You personally haven’t met the Luthors but your parents did tell you that Lionel is a very close friend to your father and that our cartel groups shouldn’t clash. Not until Lex Luthor decided to declare war against your cartel family.

A short woman came in the room while you were on the balcony in one of the many homes you  own, watching the oceanside view. It was your area of peace to just watch the sun rise and set whenever you want to relax. 

“Lo dice en serio? (Are you serious?). Maggie, go send out some people to find the woman. Maybe her bastard brother and I can make a deal.” 

Maggie Sawyer is one of your closest members of the cartel to you but before she started working for Los Reyes Alfa, your parents rescued her when she was 16 years-old from her abusive father. She was abused for being gay and that she was a disgraced to her own family. Your parents caught the drunken father beating Maggie in public. Your mother was horrified that the father was beating his child based on a stupid reason so your father took action and shot the man at blank point. They left the man to bleed on the dirt streets of where Maggie used to live, an example of what it looks like to beat your children for no just reason. 

Your parents took Maggie away and introduced you to her. You became close like sisters and helped find a new family that was willing to accept who she is. It wasn’t long until Kara and Alex Danvers also joined the cartel. They were willing to join after their parents were murdered by James Olsen’s cartel. The Danvers sisters could not support themselves after the devastating loss. Alex dropped out of medical school and Kara quit being a reporter due to not making enough money. 

Your parents and you took good care of the girls. There are times where you all fought but made up. What made this little group interesting is that all of you came out gay and you were all proud becuase no one can say shit about it. If they did, people better hope you come back home in a body bag instead of being found in the river or hanging in public.

6 months later 

Lena Luthor, now known as Kieran Lee, is found hanging out in a nightclub. Lena just got off work from a small business pharmacy not too far from where she lives. Lena was able to find a place where it was not Luthor Cartel territory but in Los Reyes Alfa grounds. She was worried that one of Lex’s men would find her but nobody came for months. No talks were going around if the raven-haired woman was seen in these grounds. It made her worry but soon she was got comfortable. 

Lena from time to time, keeps track of what the Luthor Cartel were doing, only to find out that Lex is murdering more people each week for not obeying his power. Although his men are out there killing and stealing, Lex is increasing his wealth. He was able to smuggle more drugs than their late father ever did before.  

The raven-haired tries to ignore her brother’s actions but it was difficult. She wants to do something about it but she doesn't know how. She wishes she had her own cartel of her own, send out orders to stop his reign but also help out the poor and weak. The least she could do is keep working in the small pharmacy with an old couple who owns it, she was able to help sick children and eldry. Lena would pay some of the medications with her leftover money for those who really need it. Sometimes, if she has the right chemicals and powders, she would make her own meds in her apartment space and give them for free. 

Tonight, Lena wants to feel numb. She plans to just drink a few drinks and socialize to make connections. Helpful connections at least. 

“Hermosa chica! Come and dance!” A random male has been trying to make moves on Lena. She wasn’t having any of it. Whenever she comes to this nightclub, a guy would try to flirt with the green eyed beauty. Tonight, he takes a chance and grabs Lena by the arm to force the woman to dance with him. 

“Let go of me!” Lena tries to break free but the man just grins and gropes her ass. The man’s glory moment didn’t last long and ended up being pushed to the floor by another figure. A blonde above the injured drunken man with her back facing Lena. 

“Ya know. It’s not nice to manhandle a woman, amigo. Women won’t like that. When she says no. . .” The blonde kicks the man between his legs and screams out his pain. “That’s what happens.” 

Everyone around looks at them but quickly ignores the situation. Another male came in to help the crippled guy on the floor and walked away. 

“Are you okay?” The blonde asks Lena who just can’t believe what just happened in front of her. Her emerald green eyes met the blue eyes, she was a bit lost. She took a quick minute to study the blonde’s strong looking figure. 

“Mhm. So may I have the name of my savior?” Lena plans to get laid tonight. 

The blue eyes chuckled, “Kara Danvers.” 

“Kieran Lee.” They shook hands and exchanged flirty smiles. 

“Can I buy you another drink, Kieran?” 

Lena didn’t turn down a free drink which turned out to be many more. The raven haired lost track of time and how many drinks she had. She was feeling free and relaxed. The two women danced on one another, not caring how scandalous it was looking. 

“Let’s go somewhere private, yeah?” Kara says into Lena’s ear while she pulls her in very close to her body. 

The two stumbled into one of the dark areas of the nightclub, they shared rush heated kisses until Lena felt a prick on her neck. Those are not teeth, Lena quickly thought. 

She sees that Kara is holding a needle in her hand and that her steel blue eyes focused on Lena’s reaction to the injection. Lena suddenly felt dizzy and the sounds around her were sounding farther by the second. 

“Nothing personal, hermosa.” The blonde finally says when Lena eyes slowly closes and starts to fall forward. A short red head woman came quickly to Kara’s side to help carry the raven haired. 

“That was easy but you took a while. We need to leave now before Boss loses her patience.” The red haired tells Kara. 

“I can’t just prick her, Alex! She needed to feel comfortable with me first.” Kara says back to her sister. 

“Whatever. Maggie is waiting outside. . Let’s go..” 

Kara easily carried Lena in her arms and Alex guided the way out to the car. The three went inside the back of the black Jeep Wrangler, placing Lena between the Danver sisters. 

“She looks like a hot mess.” Maggie looks at the unconscious woman. 

“Apparently, Kara wanted to have a little fun.” Alex comments and Kara just shrugs. 

They drove off and made their way back to the base. Another black Jeep followed closely behind them. 

“Is someone following us?” Alex questions the driver. 

“They’re one of ours. (Y/N) was kind enough to send back up just in case Lex’s men found Lena before us.” Maggie answers. 

“I’m guessing Winn and Mike are in that car?” Kara looks behind to see if she can see the faces in the car.

“Yup!” 

The group is glad that the kidnapping went perfectly fine. They didn’t need to harm anyone in the club but the drive back home is going to take a while. They have 3 hours to drive back to their destination.

“You lost my sister?!” Lex yells at the two men in front him. 

They didn’t know what to say. Maxwell Lord was still suffering the pain between his legs and hopes the ice is helping him recover. John Corben was planning to go back to grab the raven haired but she was with the blonde the whole time. It made it difficult to go and grab the missing Luthor sibling.  

“We couldn’t get her alone. She was drinking with this blonde the whole time. Then we lost the two of them in the club. Maybe the blonde took her home but we’re close to finding your sister’s apartment for more clues.” 

“Well why are you still here! Go! You’re wasting my fucking time.” Lex yells at them again. 

I’ll find you Lena. One way or another. Lex says to himself.

So I have problems with CC but considering when the book in question was written, I’m not actually surprised at the comments you’re referring to. No matter how far we have to go in terms of LGBTQ+ rights, we’ve come very far in the short time since these books were first published.

Alec grew up in an environment where the only reason people got married was to have children in order to provide more soldiers to fight demons, essentially. If you loved who you were married to, then good for you, but it certainly wasn’t something that was a requirement. And he wouldn’t have had any real exposure to other points of view. Also, let’s not forget, he was also a teenager. A very smart and capable teenager, but still, a teenager. And growing up in an environment like that can make it very hard to shake of ideas you’re raised with, even subconsciously. My mother is Irish Catholic, and I was raised very sheltered, with little exposure to any differing world views. And this was in Upstate NY for reference, so small towns, and small minds for the most part. The first time I realized that you could date someone of the same gender, because my mother introduced me to a work friend of hers who was a lesbian, she later told me that you could hate the sin and love the sinner.

So when I started questioning how you could tell you were gay or bi, because I had started looking at other girls, I was asked if I was attracted to them, at 12, when I wasn’t capable of the kind of attraction my mother was referring to. So when I said no, she said that meant that I was straight. So I went on believing that any attention that I paid other girls in anything other than a sisterly manner was wrong, and that there was something wrong with me. Meanwhile my two closest friends were both girls who were also raised in very religious families, so no one that my mother would object to; my father didn’t particularly care as long as I wasn’t dating anyone at all. So I did everything I was supposed to, I had a non-serious boyfriend, which didn’t last very long, I was an altar server and part of the church choir, not because I had to be, but because if I threw myself into the Church, maybe I would be fixed. I even very briefly, considered becoming a nun. Then when I started figuring out that I was pan, I was still under the belief that I would ignore half of who I was, and meet a boy, marry him, and have children, nevermind that I have never actually wanted children, because it was what a good girl was supposed to do. Thank god or insert whatever deity you believe in here, for books. Because books let me learn about the things that I wasn’t being taught, and let me figure out who I actually was. And I’m still trying to figure myself out, because I never had a chance to grow up properly the way I was raised.

So I can completely understand where Alec is coming from. The comments he made were ignorant, but not made out of any malice. It can be hard to break free of how you are raised, and a lot of that shows up subconsciously no matter what you might be thinking and doing consciously. I can’t tell you how many times I have said something without thinking or intending any harm, only to find out later that what I said was wrong, and have needed to apologize for it. I don’t really think the comments that Alec made were necessarily biphobic so much as him still dealing with self-hate and projecting it onto Magnus.

It's interesting how all of the queer people I've talked to who praise CC's queer rep are people who have backgrounds like yours. People who had difficult, oppressive backgrounds and families who weren't supportive of them. I think maybe this is something that I should start taking into consideration. Because I've gotten into so many fights with people who are honestly just trying to grasp onto something tangible after so much crap. And for me to attack them for it is actually pretty unfair.

I grew up extremely privileged in the sense that I grew up in a family of socialists who are also activists and very progressive people. My mom and dad and also step dad have been supporting queer rights since before I was born. My privilege has definitely affected me. I get that.

I tend to be more ambitious with queer liberation then most people because that's what I was raised to do. I was raised to be unapologetic and aggressive and demand respect. So that's what I do. I think many of you want to praise CC for doing the bare minimum and it makes me angry. But I've come to realize that it's because you were denied the bare minimum for so long. And that's really really sad.

But I get it in some ways. Because that's how I am with Ty. So many people were saying that they thought Ty was bare minimum and pretty stereotypical for an autistic character and it made me furious. Because Ty saved me. I personally connected with him a lot and despite his flaws, I adore him. And I was so mad that other people couldn't understand that. But I've been through a lot of trauma and oppression because of being autistic, so I'm sort of still in bare minimum mode right now. But I'm growing and evolving as I get older. But I think deep down I'll always love Ty no matter what.

And I think that's the way some people are with CC's queer rep. I personally also love a lot of her queer characters like obviously Kit and Ty, plus Magnus, Alec, Mark, Kieran, Helen, and Aline just to name my favorites. I would also sell my soul to the black market for Alastair Carstairs and his happiness. But I see the difference in their writing vs. the writing of queer characters written by queer people.

Reading books like A Line in the Dark and Red White and Royal Blue really sets it apart for me. I relate to the authenticity of the writing. When Alex says "straight people probably don't spend this much time convincing themselves that they're straight" it's real and raw and just...!!!!!!!! You know? I highly reccomend reading queer books by queer people to get the representation that you're looking for. But CC's characters do have their charm.

Anyways, I get you. But it just bugs me to see people calling her "the queen of representation" or whatever.

“We all had her” - Dutch. No, the gang didn’t sleep with Abigail. Let’s clear this up.

TLDR: Most of the gang wasn’t there when Abigail joined the gang. She quit working the second she lied eyes on John. Her sleeping with gang members after joining would have been idiotic and finally - most of the others wouldn’t have been interested in her. So, I’m a historian and I’ve been researching working girls. Even without studying this subject, I still would have written this by using cannon. 

When people talk about Abigail in the fandom, they constantly bring up this quote said by Dutch. What’s frustrating is it’s a quote from RDR 1 right before Dutch takes his own life. Most people haven’t even played rdr 1 yet they constantly repeat this - especially as an insult. It’s taken out of context and Dutch was desperate and trying to throw John off his game.

1. There is no way Abigail slept with everyone. Most of the people in the gang were not there. John, Javier, maybe the Callender brothers and Uncle are the only possible people that could have slept with her. That’s it. Even then, most of that is unlikely. She quit working the minute she met John. She fell in love with him at first sight. She says this several times. John wasn’t sure about Jack’s parentage because he was being an ass. Abigail had been with the gang for a year already so she most definitely didn’t sleep with anyone else. She would have known immediately John was the father. He even admits this later on. Yes, Arthur can antagonize her and say that Jack looks like an Escuella or a Williamson but he is literally just trolling. Same with the “nickel” comment. 

2. Also, having a working girl come into the gang having slept with multiple members would have been really bad and just stupid. It would have caused people to fight over her. Dutch would have known this. Also, the gang is strongly based on Butch Cassidy’s gang. Each one of them had a romantic partner - often working girls and these working girls were exclusive with them. They didn’t sell themselves to anyone else once they met them. The biggest example is Etta Place. Doc Holiday had “Big Nose” Kate. Same situation. It would have caused too much drama.

3. If Dutch had slept with her - it would have ruined his “fatherly image” that he tries so hard to put out. (Credit to @captain-radioactive-mentality

4. Abigail couldn’t have had men come into the camp - that would have endangered the gang. She couldn't have worked outside of the camp either. Tales of her exploits and the gang’s exploits would have spread. Plus, she would have had no protection (except for her own skills), she would have had to pay a **lot** of money to even set up shop. They would have lost money and she hated it anyway. She would have been happy thieving.

I credit again give credit to Captain for this - but she pointed out that Dutch even convinced Miss Grimshaw to stop selling herself, so why would they have someone else do that? Miss Grimshaw being a former madam only says that Abigail should sell herself again because she’s convinced Abi doesn’t do enough. (You know, despite having a child and literally no support outside of Hosea and Arthur.) 

Bill Williamson is strongly implied to by gay and has said on multiple occasions that women just slow him down so he ignores them. Why would Bill waste his time and money on Abigail then?

Hosea was completely devoted to Bessie and it is highly unlikely that he ever sought out working girls, especially after her death. Arthur quit sleeping with working girls after Eliza. Charles, Lenny, Micah, Sean, Mr. Pearson, the Reverend, Trelawny (Who is happily married) and Kieran were not in the gang when Abigail arrived. Like I said, the fact that people are taking a throwaway bitchy comment as canon is a little frustrating, especially since most haven’t played the game. I get not everyone likes Abigail and that’s okay, but at least realize that she’s more than just a former working girl.  Edit: There is an updated version of this that also removes Javier and the Callander brothers from the picture.
