(A group of medical staff rushes over.)

Staff Member A: What’s the matter? We received a notification from PLANTs that you’re returning to the dorm.

Ageha: We were leaving the dual-use facility, so I thought about dropping a notice upfront. Is there a problem with that?

Staff Member A: We received the report and the specifics from the inspection this morning. If there’s no issues with your condition, then you may return to–

Ageha: Please share Loulou*di’s latest schedule with us. It was empty when I checked on the online board earlier, so I was wondering if there were any technical errors, or perhaps there was something you didn’t want us to know. Which is it?

Staff Member A: Scheduling isn’t under the medical team’s responsibilities.

Ageha: Speaking of which, your position in the executive committee is still pending, am I right?

Staff Member A: Headquarters have already been informed that the reports from the dual-use facility retreat returned favorable.

Ageha: That isn’t a secret to us, it seems.

Staff Member A: At the very least, this order doesn’t withhold us from carrying out our duties. We’re not clear on the details of the schedule, so please wait for further instructions.

Ageha: Then… Please pass a message along to the president.

Staff Member A: To the president?

Ageha: I have something to discuss with him.

Staff Member A: Understood. We will arrange for a meeting with him.

Ageha: I would like to meet him immediately.

Staff Member A: I understand where you’re coming from, but that won’t be possible at the moment.

Ageha:  I didn’t come all this way… just to speak with you.

Staff Member A: We, from the medical facility, are here to ensure your health and safety–

Ageha: And who the hell said that we’ll leave our lives to you?! Our health? Safety? Like I even asked in the first place. I had the impression that it was the norm, but it looks like every single one of the doctors here have slick tongues. 

Staff Member A: I–

Ageha: I’m sick of hearing it from you. I made a promise to President Amagiri that I will scale to the peak of becoming an idol and embody the perfect idol himself. For that, I will do whatever it takes. And yet, just why on earth is the schedule blank and not one damn member of the staff contactable?!

Staff Member A: But–

Ageha: I want an explanation straight from the president’s mouth. Relay that message… please.

Toki: Ageha-san, welcome back!

Ageha: (sighs) I’m back. Where’s Rui?

Toki: He’s in his room. He seems busy doing the task you asked him to do. Besides, how was it?

Ageha: It’s just as I thought. We’re back to square one. Meetings and visits have been canceled for today.

Toki: That’s just rude. Ageha-san took the time to ask them personally, and they won’t even follow through.

Ageha: I’m tired of them being so useless, but the matter of fact is that they simply don’t have much authority.

Toki: Eh? Even though they sure were acting like it.

Ageha: They were all just flaunting power they didn’t have.

Toki: But even so, they should have listened to you and taken you more seriously! After all, Loulou*di is Amagiri Production’s flagship artist.

Ageha: Lately, the president has been deeply misunderstanding how to play observer to nurturing an idol.

Toki: Misunderstanding?

Ageha: Idols are thought to produce the best results when they work together in mutual benefit and challenge. Otherwise, there would be no reason to create Anthos*.

Toki: No way… Anthos* is just small fry, no matter how good or bad they get, they can’t change the fact that Loulou*di will always be number one.

Ageha: Perhaps they just happen to have a bad egg. Take for instance… Yuuki Mahiro.

Toki: Who’s that?

Ageha: Anthos*’ center and President Amagiri’s own son.

Toki: That’s just unfair! Getting his way just ‘cuz he’s the president’s kid!

Ageha: Let me say this, Toki. President Amagiri is a man of exceptional character. I respect him from the bottom of my heart.

Toki: But… even if that’s what Ageha-san says, I don’t think… I can like that sort of person.

Ageha: That person is only human, and a parent on top of that. There may be something that can be done from our end, but… Ah, Rui.

Rui: You’ve returned.

Ageha: How’s the task I gave you coming along?

Rui: I’ve made the preparations. It’s ready for launch at any time. But is this really okay?

Ageha: Stupid question. Do you think you can stand to rot in the dorms forever?

Rui: If that’s what you wish.

Ageha: Are you taking me for a fool?

Toki: I don’t want that! Anthos* are all just playing dirty. Disturbing us during our break and even stealing our offer from Dream Drama Festa!

Ageha: The offer for the drama appearance as well. A newcomer at that level could never attain a handpicked offer. He can feel good about himself, not knowing that it’s all down to the company’s doing.

Toki: All that when they’ve done nothing for Ageha-san… they’re the worst!

Ageha: It seems that like we have to put out Loulou*di’s strength, Loulou*di’s message, in a much clearer way. The president, too, should be opening his eyes soon.

Fan A: Ah, you’re finally here!

Fan B: Wow… the design of the virtual room is amazing!

Fan A: Really?

Fan B: Mmhm! It’s just like the garden stage from the recent live show!

Fan A: It was such a pain to get my hands on this, so I got my family to help out!

Fan B: Will we use this the next we all meet up together?

Fan A: Of course! That’s what I planned to do anyway. Let’s see… (keys something in)

Fan B: Oh!

Fan A: There’s more. (continues keying in)

Fan B: Flower petals!

Fan A: Phew… well, I was just thinking about checking this first with you.

Fan B: Sorry about coming in late. I got stuck trying to pick out an outfit for my avatar.

So much for a perfect seaside getaway, but Sebek could not account for a freak storm, so the two of you were stuck inside for the night, and reservations at the restaurant were cancelled due to the downpour. So, he was in a bit of a sour mood, hanging above him much like the dark storm clouds in the sky. Yet you weren’t in such a dire mood, and that helped take his mind off of things… somewhat.

“Aren’t you upset that our reservation was cancelled,” he huffed, turning his glare to the storm outside which seemed to mock him, slapping large leaves against the glass, which was like the storm slapping him in the face. “You were looking forward to it more than me.”

You looked over your shoulder, taking in the rare sight of Sebek in comfy clothes. To be fair the only reason he was wearing the fluffy pyjama pants and a white tank top was because you had gifted them to him. Even though it was something as simple as sleep clothes, Sebek treasured them.

“We can always go another night, sweetie,” you hummed, “besides, I would rather eat your cooking any night.” 

Sebek grumbled but didn’t argue with you, knowing full well that you would just shower him with sweet yet incredibly embarrassing praise for what he deemed as mediocre cooking at best. To be fair, you did call him your ‘pookie-bear’ in front of Malleus and Lilia — yeah, he nearly died that day, and Silver brings it up every now and then. 

“Besides,” you blew off the dust from a book, “I would rather read with you!” 

So that’s what you were searching for? A book? Sebek raised an eyebrow. You would rather read a book with him? And Sebek felt his face heating up. The two of you had been together for quite some time now, but Sebek always went warm when you did something simple, small, yet sweet. Those would leave him more pink and more warm than any grand gesture, because they weren’t planned. They were just something you naturally did, and that flustered him like nothing else.

Sebek cleared his throat, trying to compose himself. “And what has caught your attention, love?” Even with his terms of endearment, he was formal, respectful.

You waddled over, and showed him the cover. “Crocodile Knight!” 

“A children’s picture book?” Sebek hadn’t seen that book since he was a kid, and it did bring back some fond memories for him, but he still wondered why you looked so excited.

“Mhm!” You plopped next to Sebek on the couch, worming yourself next to his side until you were practically trying to merge with him. “Plus you’re my knight, and a crocodile, seems fitting! So, can you read it to me? Pretty pleaseeeeeee? My big, strong, scaly, knight?”

Sebek felt himself grow warm in the face and knew his ears must have been glowing from your giggling. He knew that he should have saved showing you the itty bitty scales that he had until later, but you had insisted on seeing them. “I-I guess I can read you a bit,” he surrendered, knowing that you would win this one.

He started reading, his voice steady and strong, only wavering when he felt you shift beside him. But he stopped reading when he felt your head rest against his shoulder. Glancing at you from the corner of his eye, he made direct eye contact with you; you were looking at him and not the book.

“I thought you wanted me to read this to you,” Sebek restrained himself from letting his loud nature win, making his voice crack a bit. “But you’re looking at me instead of the book?!”

You sighed, and placed a kiss to his jaw, which made him get quiet real fast. “Because you’re my crocodile knight, my beautiful crocodile knight,” you murmured.

Sebek closed the book, putting a bookmark in place so the two of you could revisit it at a later time. There was no chance that he could focus on reading when you were looking at him with hearts in your eyes.

So, instead, the two of you got into a comfortable cuddling position, got cozy under some blankets, and fell asleep in each other’s arms with the sound of rain and thunder aiding you to sleep.

Joe Ramirez enlisted in September 1942 (age 20) in San Francisco, CA, and he trained with Easy Company at Toccoa. Holding the rank of Private, he served in Normandy, Holland, and Bastogne. He was hospitalized in January 1945, and discharged in July 1945. After the war, he was married for many years, and had children and grandchildren. When he passed away he was buried with his wife, who had passed away 11 years earlier. Further information about him is scarce, but the brief character profile in the Band of Brothers series bible describes him as Mexican-American, and his personality as "sensitive and nervous."

2023 Recap - Songs from (QL) Dramas

I've been tagged by @troubled-mind to make a list of my favorites songs from this year's QL dramas (thank you so much 💕) and of course I can't resist. I liked a lot of music from shows this year, which is great but made the selection harder so it will be a little long, I hope you'll forgive me.

OST I've been milking in full

I don't very often go through full OST unless someone does a background music playlist i can put on (Like this one for La Pluie by troubled-mind, and this one for To Sir, With Love for example) but two stood out for me this year.

My School President OST - I knew in advance I would enjoy a musical show, and I have to say I was NOT disappointed. My favorite though is ฟัง by Fourth, Ford, Satang, Winny, and the fantastic Pijika Jittaputta. Have a go at the original too!

Unintentional Love Story OST - This one came late this year for me, but i have been listening to the whole thing again and again. My favorite is Beautiful Day by Cha Seowon. I really enjoy his voice a LOT, and I'm weak for a nice, so soft it's even a little mushy love ballad.

With those two out of the way, let's go through the list country by country I think.

From Thailand 🇹🇭

ลางสังหรณ์ by Teng Tachaya from The Sign

This one is just a banger! It literally rocks, and I keep belting out the chorus every single time i listen to it. I love everything about it, even the spoken words. Also, not music related, but that costume!!

เงา by Lazyloxy from Shadow

I like Lazyloxy's voice a lot, as well as the rhythm/bass line (?) during the verses. There is an edge in that song that fits the show very well, too.

พรุ่งนี้ by Ford Arun from Moonlight Chicken

Ford's voice, do I need to say more? Tbh I got a little teary the first (ten) time(s) I listen to it.This ballad is so very touching, it's gentle and hopeful, I can never tire of it.

รักคุณยิ่งกว่าใคร by NuNew's cover of Got Jakraphan from Cutie Pie 2. I loved this one so much I got myself a video editor so I could post it there. Only honorable because it's a cover, but it got me into luk thung so it deserves to be here.

เพลง รักนี้มากับดวง by Bmine & Near from Lucky My Love. This one is just because it's goddamn cute, sweet and peppy, and it makes me smile and bop my head. Sometimes I don't ask for more.

From Japan 🇯🇵

U&I by Hi-Fi Unicorn from Kimi ni wa todokanai

It's just a perfectly crafted pop song imo. It's cute, fresh and lively, fitting the show perfectly too. Since it came out, you can catch me humming "kimi ni waaa todokanai hmm hmm hmm" all day, every day, so it deserves its place on the list!

Yoruwazura by osage feat Ishino Riko from Kimi to nara koi wo shite mite mo

This one got me the second Ishino Riko started singing. The harmonies between the two are SO good! I really like the guitar in this one, and the little claps in the background. It's also really easy to hum so it stays with me a lot.

Bitter by Royce from Utsukushii Kare season 2

The contrast between the energy of the melody and the nearly bored sound of the voice (the singer sounds like their mouth does not open fully) works reaaally well for me. It's catchy and fun, and well, the lyrics are just so perfectly Hira...

ふたたび Futatabi by HIROBA & Otsuka Ai from Bokura no micro na shuumatsu

I was very surprised when I saw it was a feat with Otsuka Ai (who I only knew for her sugary pop in early 2000). The melancholy of the lyrics and the melody are beautiful, I am a huge fan of the way their voices mesh together, and I can't resist a piano + violins combo like that.

Honorable mention > Go Sign by Billy Laurent from Ameiro Paradox. The little piano, the rhythm, that chorus, it makes me shake my ass every single time.

From Taiwan 🇹🇼

'痛苦擁抱 (Painful Hug) by Ozone from Oh No! Here Comes Trouble

(I won't hear anything about technicality and it being a QL show or not =3) Had not realized it was from a boy group before checking the clip for this list. I like the way the melody rises for the chorus, their voices are pleasant, and it carries both power and some sort of melancholy that reminds me very much of Pu Yiyong.

Honorable mention > Come With Me by K6 from Marry My Dead Body. The whole OST of that movie is great, but I somehow got completely obsessed by this one from the gym scene at the start. It also features Austin Lin (I think as backup on the chorus).

From Korea 🇰🇷

IoU by UTOPI from The New Employee

It's a sweet, simple one that never fails to put me in a good mood, and sometimes that's enough to listen to a song non stop over months =3

Natural by Young K from A Breeze of Love

This one is also sunny, light and joyful. I like the guitars and I am especially fond of Young K's voice - it got me looking into him which I do not regret. A nice little surprise for the end of the year.
