how many of you currently in the hazbin fandom also existed in the undertale fandom?? I feel like there's so much crossover potential. I feel like the characters would gel really well together, the undertale gang would blend into hell so well TIBIA HONEST

Some of my headcanons if they crossed over:

Mettaton (EX) dancing with Angel Dust and them being fab together

Sans chatting with Husk at the bar as if he's Grillby

Papyrus and Sir Pentious being aspirational goofy weirdos together, making contraptions and being adorable and lame

Undyne and Vaggie comparing spears and bonding over being badass lesbians

Frisk running around with Nifty and Keekee like chaos gremlins

Charlie being mothered by Toriel and healing from it

Alphys sitting awkwardly in a corner and being approached by Lucifer and then them geeking out about special interests together

Alastor watching all of this through narrowed eyes but then being like "hmm all these new sinners are interesting" and then he has like a weird rivalry with Gastor when he eventually shows up lmao

Sans being WAY more OP than Alastor and it being HILARIOUS cause Sans is so sloppy and unrefined and Al hates it but then they eventually team up together in a fight against smth else and it's SUPER FUCKING COOL

A flowey who looks like he did before he died again but he's not the same, and he knows his parents still want to see him as their perfect little golden child, their sweet asriel who would never hurt a fly - hell, even frisk seems to be changing the way they act around him - but it's not like before, it's not and it never will be, and he was just starting to feel okay with how things were going.

He can move forward, but he can't live in the past any more, regardless of what everyone else thinks.

Or at least like, him very firmly still having his flowey personality rather than losing everything that makes him interesting lmao

Some headcanons I have are:

With fem! Kylar, I think she is the type to write these unhinged letters to you with her period blood and do real "agua de calzón", yet failed to make PC drink it.

Whenever she starts watching you from large periods of time with her cameras, she pees on empty bottles so they won't have to take a break from watching you.

Also often stops whenever she sees a wedding dress around town and imagines herself wearing it, feeling bummed that she isn't able to buy it. Probably wears a kicked puppy face while sighing sadly when staring at the price tag.

Small note: She would totally shave her pubes to form a heart as some romantic gesture lmao. Also would try to shave them to PC's name but prob fails and cries and throws up. Idk, Kylar is just Kylaring.

Ohohoho this is very much a slippery slope for me! And a topic I have many opinions on. Thanks for the ask!

Please note for anyone that does not have the energy to read something like this, that this is overall, a critical piece of Asgore. (though not shamelessly bashing him.)

I'm prefacing this to anyone reading - I am not looking to fight, and I will not engage in any arguments around this. I don't have the energy to engage like that. I will delete/block any comments looking to start an argument and move on.

So here's my character analysis of Asgore under the cut, and my personal feelings about goat dad.

Asgore and his incomplete character arc, and why he honestly kind of got shafted:

I think Asgore is an interesting character, but I just... really struggle to like him.

"But Floo!" you may say "Why do you like Undyne, and the other monsters that killed/hurt Frisk/the other kids but not Asgore? Why is he different?"

I debated on that long and hard myself for a while. Why does Asgore rub me the wrong way when Undyne doesn't? Could it be because he is the reason everyone else is doing what they are, because he ordered it? But no, that didn't feel quite right.

And then I realized that it's because Asgore never truly grew as a person. There are some fics out there that I've read where I really do like Asgore. He's a fuzzy goat dad, and I just adore him! But when I examined the differences between those fics and canon, that's when it really stood out to me about WHY I don't like him in canon.

Every other character in the game gets growth that was (while caused by your/frisk's actions) still decided on by themselves. Let's go in order of the decisions these characters made that showcased their growth (in a pacifist run)-

Toriel - She, after having been given suitable time to ruminate, realizes that what she is doing will not work and tears herself out of her isolation to go after the last child and protect them. Her passivity wasn't saving anyone, so she changes herself, grows, and goes to protect them. (it's late, but it DOES happen)

Papyrus - I think the place he really shines in a pacifist/neutral run is when he beats Frisk 3 times and lets them go, but his character arc is all the same, anyway, even if you do beat him. Namely, that he lets them go. He could keep going, he could keep fighting, but he realizes that his want for friends and fame wasn't worth hurting someone. (even if that's not directly how he phrases it.)

Even if you outlast him and beat him the traditional way, he still decides to use his last special attack instead of fighting you until you're down. It's pretty clear he could have kept going if he wanted to.

Undyne - She, like Papyrus (and almost every other monster) has the character growth of letting Frisk go. A decision she actively makes. When Frisk saves her in hotland, pouring water over her head, she could have continued on with the chase, and kept going. But she didn't - she was honorable and conceded her defeat.

Mettaton - Same song and dance as Papyrus and Undyne (I love this character growth, and that's not to diminish ANYONES. They all have different flavors and motivations for going after Frisk that need confronted, even if the action is similar.) But he lets frisk go and realizes that the people underground need him more than anyone above ground. And also learns to touch base with his family a bit more, and value his friends/family more.

Alphys - Alphys decides to confront her crimes and reveal herself! There's still a bit of external pressure here (the "I KNOW WHAT YOU DID" note from Flowey) but still, she didn't have to come clean. But despite everything, she did, and she faced her wrongdoings and also told the people she loved.

Flowey - Do I need to explain this one? There's so many character essays on him (and Alphys tbh LMAO) Long story short, he learns to move on and let go. (and also broke the barrier and released the souls)

So now we move to the crux of the issue. Asgore.

He had a HELL of a character arc building up! So many flaws and bad decisions! We know he's kind, and a pushover, but also responsible for all of this hurt and death of children. (Yes, he had reasons, but that doesn't change his actions.) To be honest, it's the kind of character arc I love. Someone who has caused harm, learning to grow and be a better person. (Cough cough, Heart on the Table, cough cough)

...But he never actually got to the "better person" part.

We know monsters in Undertale are flawed. It's why it's such a great game! So many characters have done so much bad, but! The core of the game is that anyone can be a good person if they try! Look at all these people learning and growing, and being better people than they were before!

But the true pacifist ending kinda shafted Asgore, to be honest. He's a coward, and he never really has to face what he's done. He never decides to just... stop. To face his crimes and the world he's shaped around him.

If he had, independently of others, decided to spare Frisk, that would be one thing. But he didn't - it wasn't until Toriel showed up, and then all of Frisk's friends that he stopped.

Asgore's core conflict was that he was doing something he hated and he knew was bad, but he couldn't stop because how would everyone else react? His people needed him to do this bad thing.

A completed character arc for him, from a story telling perspective, would have had him stop what he was doing, while still under the impression that this would be a hard decision, and that everyone would hate him for it.

(A bed he made for himself! Through his action and inaction, he stoked monsterkind's hatred for humanity back up. There is a much larger discussion to be had around this topic, also how Chara was treated by him and monster kind (also his hand in Chara and Asriel's death) and many more factors. I am aware this is a highly debated topic, and I don't have the energy to fight it, so I will leave it at that.)

Regardless on if you agree if that would be a good or bad decision on his part, that would have been character growth - basically, Asgore having to face all of the accumulation of his cowardice and actions.

But he didn't. He didn't back down until he was basically told "hey yeah, so we all like this kid so you don't have to kill them."

He never wanted to kill them! That was never the issue! The issue was that he was willing to kill them anyway. And if Frisk's friends and his ex wife hadn't shown up and said "hey so we actually DONT want you to kill this kid" he would have! He was willing to kill a child because other people wanted him to, and we never get to see him overcome that hurdle of not killing a child despite other people wanting him to.

We can talk about the potential ending where he offers Frisk his soul, but even then, he still never actually confronts his actions. He's still unwilling to face all of the people he's harmed. (and YES allowing and ENCOURAGING his citizens to murder children is harming them, too. Especially because monsters don't see humans as people. (another essay I don't have time to get into right now, but is based on canon fact))

So... Yeah. I think Asgore has a lot of wonderful conflict baked into him, which is something I love in a character. He's torn, and a coward, and a father, and a broken ruler and king who is doing what he thinks his people want. But it's frustrating to me because he never got the character arc he deserved, and never got the chance to grow into a better person like everyone else in Undertale gets.

I do actually enjoy writing about him... and drawing him too on occasion! (though he's hard to draw) and ASGORE and Bergentrückung are actually my favorite songs in the soundtrack since they are filled with so much emotion. He really is a delightfully conflicted character and that conflict and hurt and pain in a character is addicting to me.

If he had a resolved character arc in game... well, to be honest, he'd probably be my favorite character??? Like, maybe even more than Papyrus (before the hyperfixation took hold, of course. That's a beast you can't reason with.)

But alas, it is what it is, and Asgore never grew. He's stuck being the same monster he was from the very beginning.

Thanks again for the ask and sorry you got a whole ass essay in response lol! I have many feelings about this game and the characters in it, Asgore included.

(Also, to anyone reading, I am aware what I have stated is simply my opinion, and many people have different ones. My opinion has no more value than any other persons.)

Another disclaimer - I love Undertale, and all of it's characters and everything that went into it, and while there are things that I feel about Asgore's character arc, I love and appreciate the way the game played out in actuality, and I wouldn't change a thing about it. Toby wrote a masterpiece, and is not only allowed, but should write characters the way he wants to. Who cares if it's not textbook?

Records basically every conversation she has with you, just in case she ever needs blackmail

Once you start getting closer, she starts actually paying attention to the stuff you say, just for fun, totally not because she wants to actually know you She can't help but think of you whenever she finds something you said you liked.

One time on a mission she found a mug with a funny quote she thought you'd like and took it, didn't actually give it to you though, just took it

She would rather die than admit it, but if you're ever on a mission with her she'll try to keep you from talking too much

She doesn't want the enemy to have too much info on you, that's her blackmail not theirs >:C

If/When you actually start dating, she really takes into account the things she'd heard you say

Listens to her own recordings on loop whenever its a holiday or anniversary so she can find the perfect gift

She'll finally let you know she's been recording your conversations, she doesn't feel guilty she just wants you to know

No point in hiding it anymore

She also gets more openly protective

Like she'll yoink you out of conversations with someone who she doesn't think should know the stuff you so openly talk about

She isn't really used to people being so open, she's used to having to find info on people herself, so it's a change of pace for her. She doesn't mind too much but she'll still instinctively try and dig into your life and find stuff you've already told her about

TLDR; She listens to what you say, kinda, but you talk a lot and there is a time and place to be doing so, and she's gonna make sure you only reveal sensitive information when she's around to make sure whoever you're talking to can be trusted <3

I've been reading Skelefamily fics, and I had to know how'd you do a similar idea!!!!

Alright so, whenever the Fallen Child of that universe is asked to stay with the Caretaker of the universe, they explicitly decline. They instead, in front of everyone, go up to Skeleton and their brother and ask to stay with them.

Does our dear Skeleton, and Brother accept the Fallen Childs request? How would life be with the Fallen Child if they accept? Why would they decline?

Do this with whatever AU fits, I know some don't really make it out on the surface or have a Caretaker that would ask, but generally I'd like to see the main 10 or so.

I'll go with Frisk/Chara/Aliza because it's funnier.

Undertale Sans - Uh... No? He's literally not ready to be a dad or whatever? He can see why Frisk is seeing him as some kind of father figure, but really, he never did it on purpose. Sans smiles at the kid gently, takes their hand, drags them back to Toriel, and disappears lol. He had already a very long day, give him a break jeez.

Undertale Papyrus - He immediately accepts, but... Uh... He has no idea how it works? To be a dad. Papyrus takes you on a father-child date and then abandons you at the end as he can't reciprocate your feelings. You're heartbroken, but that's fine, he knows the right person for you! He then proceeds to give you back to Toriel lol.

Underswap Sans and Papyrus - Both brothers look at each other in complete panic. They both start to whisper-scream silently and do wide gestures with their hands only them understand as they're arguing on the matter. Honey then tries to explain you the most gentle way he can that they currently don't have room but maybe later. Blue nods the whole time while pushing you back towards Asgore.

Underfell Sans & Papyrus - You want what now? Both brothers are really concerned. Red tried to kill you. Several times. Edge as well, even though he kinda spared you in the end (not his proudest moment as a captain, but you know). Why the hell would you want them as parents? They have no idea how to take care of themselves, what the hell would they do with a child? Edge straight tells you to ask the lesbians and then yeets you with blue magic towards Undyne and Alphys lol. Not his problem, have fun with the fish lady.

Horrortale Sans & Papyrus - Probably the only ones who would accept. You took them out of hell, and so you're a little bit a part of the family already. It's not like Toriel won't be your mother anyway because in case you didn't notice, Toriel is mothering everyone. If you don't have anywhere to go, they'll gladly accept you to follow them a little longer. They don't consider themselves fathers though.

Swapfell Sans & Papyrus - Surprisingly, Rus might say yes. He got attached to the kid and he was kinda the one who protected them through their journey. He wouldn't mind. And then you look at Nox LMAO. You gave him HELL through your journey, making it the worst day of his life as a general. He's stressed, he's tired, the Queen screamed at him all day and now you want him to adopt you? What's your problem? Why won't you let him be happy? Did someone hire you to ruin his life? Please, he's begging you, he just wants to be happy again. L E A V E. He's thankful you got them out of the Underground, but that doesn't make you friends.

Fellswap Gold Sans & Papyrus - Coffee wants to adopt you but more like adopting a puppy. He's holding you in his arms like a baby and he's doing his best to fore Wine to say yes with his best puppy eyes, even whining to convince him more. Wine eventually accepts, clearly not happy, at the condition Coffee feeds you and takes care of you. Coffee is so happy, though you're not sure if it was a good choice after all. You're not sure if you should feel offended or not at this point.

I have a headcanon that all the Papyri/Papyruses have a bad habit of not knocking before opening doors. When Frisk is in Sans’ room Papyrus barges in without knocking. Sans usually keeps the door locked so Papyrus is used to door unlocked = ok to enter. I think all it would be the same in the other aus too. Older brother used to locking their doors to keep younger brother out unfortunately teaching them not to bother knocking. I think is a fun headcanon to exploit to create silly scenarios. What do you think? Does it hold water?

I also think it'd be interesting if all the Papyri had the same habit but for different reasons.

e.g. Classic!Sans gave up on teaching Pap to knock because Pap kept getting too excited/annoyed and forgets to knock, Swap!Pap just can't be bothered much to his brother's chagrin, UF!Pap starts off similar to classic but it becomes a thing of not-knocking as a way to catch people off guard (no time to hide things if you aren't expecting someone!), Swapfell probably depends on your interpretation/which version, but you get my drift lol.

SAYING THAT THOUGH... we do unfortunately have evidence that Papyrus is a polite boy and knocks in canon (sometimes) 😔. He knocks on Undyne's door, when he brings Frisk/the player to her house so they can become friends!

I think it's a super fun headcanon even so, but if having this one instance bothers you, there's plenty of ways to work around it. Not to mention we only have like... 2 and a half instances of door opening action (half from that pic from the newsletter that has Papyrus slamming into Grillby's when he's looking for Sans) which isn't enough to conclude much of anything from either way lmao.

Again, I still think that your headcanon holds up, but it got me thinking about ways to incorporate Papyrus knocking on Undynes door into things... sticking with your existing reasoning, you could always have a situation where all the Papyri keep that assumption, (unlocked means it's ok to come in and locked means stay out) and Undyne has simply learned to lock her door lolol. That does bring to mind the image of Papyrus just... jiggling the doorknob for doors that are locked though. Let him in!!! (Now I think about it... this is actually just how doors seem to work in games generally. Most doors are unlocked, and you enter as you please... if they're locked you either try again/find a key or knock LMAO)

Or maybe he knocked because he wants to be a good role model for Frisk... (this pairs well with a headcanon that I've seen where Papyrus putting on a show/playing things up a little [like the date] for Frisk since they're a kid)

TLDR: that's a FANTASTIC headcanon, I love it, and also do whatever you want forever!!!

This entire thing exists because one time I was like "how fucked up OP can a sans be before its My Immortal levels of wtf?" And uh yeah here we are uuuuuuh sans greets you by pointing a .44 magnum at you so thank the head of the guards (papyrus) for saving you. Everyone here is broken and just wants A Fucking Break. Also you gain levels in pacifist because LOVE is Level Of VirtuE. Fuck you lmao

Undertale.exe: so I looked at Camilla Cuevas being an awful person. Then i looked at the beautiful anime that is @jakei95's underverse... then i smushed it all toghether to basically create the perfect AU. Frisk is a pansexual fuccboi that Has Game, Chara is THICC and powerful, Betty is built like a ballerina and is 1000 years old, and Asriel is a Streemur. All of them live in this house far away from the city thats literally a larger version of sans' house. All charachters can legally drink (prepare for Drunk Chara shenanigans where its Betty Glitchtale the drunk one instead) and the only one who (probably) isnt gay is Asriel (even though frisk covets the Dreemur Dong) (one day soldier, one day...). Many chatachters from many AUs sometimes come to visit cause, you know. Its a nice place.

Curseworld: massive writing project of mine which is just "adventure time shaped mass of autism". The world is cursed and fucked over, and everything is colorful. Its also part Owl House because fuck you the magic system is FUCKED here.

Internet friends: basically internet stereotype-shaped people. We have a furry thats normal, a reddit/discord mod that just wants to work in peace, and the protagonist is Just A Guy but a-ha! He has both an xbox an...d ps5 thus fucking over any CAD reference. The last sketch i made was a mr.monopoly shaped guy who really wants youngsters to actually AFFORD shit who is married to a very obvious reference to Meru the succubus. Also i 100% intend to put a gag about mr beast living in an ATM when he isnt making videos

•What exactly is this AU about?

Its just a funny little AU where not all monsters were locked underground and some went into hiding instead. Some species of monster in this AU can take on human form with their magic, hence why this is possible. Of course, this doesnt stop kiddos, human or monster, from climbing that darn mountain though.

•When is the next page?

Duotale updates every Friday. Time varies but I try to keep it between 10am and 12pm EST. If either day falls on a holiday, the page will be posted the following day.

•Why is this AU called Duotale?

Because the two main characters are twins, hence the Duo in Duotale. Ok they aren't twins, but they are siblings, born a few months apart. Yes, Strawberry is the Older one.

•Is the player a thing in this AU?

Maybe, maybe not. Depends on the AUs in the Citadel. No one is controlling the Duotale cast though. They've had their own mind and actions from the start. Underplayer is in the Citadel though, if you count them as a player.

●Can my AU be featured in your comic?

Why yes. Just refer to the link in the Masterpost labeled "how to get your AU into the comic". Follow the rules, answer the questions, and you'll be in where we can fit you! Do note that we will try to spread everyone out through different MVC visits, so please, don't be upset if your appearance isn't automatic! You will be seen eventually before the story's end! Scene art and asks are a different story though.

•Will Kris make an appearance?

Yes :3. I'll leave it at that. Ralsei will make an appearance in asks or art, Susie may or may not be in the comic itself. Here's the boi. During the comic he's a lil toddler. (Gender explaination is below btw for those that care.)

•Is Kris gonna be Frisk or Luci's counterpart?

No. Neither. They will be their own person.

●Is Clover gonna make an appearance?

Like Kris, the cowboy ghost will be there, but unlike Kris, you won't see him in comic til the end. He will (and has already) pop up on our blog, like Dalv or Star sherrif boi, but in comic, sorry, hes in Asgore's castle and that's so far away right now lmao. But here's how he looks. Yes, he knows the fox stole his hat. He does not know where his gun is, though.

●Will xxx color soul child also be in this AU?

Depends. We already have the Yellow soul decided (obvi). If There's another colored child you wanna see pop up as a canon-to-duotale ghost at the end of the comic you can ask, but so far only Clover and MAYBE Marine(Patience soul) but the lore is off that comic might contradict yellow or ours so that's undecided. Any other kids so far would be only seen in the MVC. We're trying not to pick kids in full existing sets so thats why Clover and maybe Marine are our only choices so far. We are more likely to make up the rest tbh. No more red souls though beyond cameos. Red souls work a special way in our AU and there's not a lot (if any) that can fit that requirement.

•Can other ghosts see Chara/Luci?

Yes. And she can see said other ghosts. Strawberry can only see those that she summons and Blackberry can see ghosts as well. Frisky can sense spirits near him but obviously cannot see them.

●Why do some characters have rings around them?

That just means they're dead. Ghosts. Spirits that didn't move on to heven or hell. The ring color matches the color of their soul and doesn't change. Luci, Blackberry, Dalv, and Kris have special rings though. They change color based on emotions. This color changing mood ring is only available to one species and it starts becoming visible around puberty. Luci is fullblooded, hence why her ring is always visible and changing like a rainbow, though Blackie and Kris aren't fullblooded, so their rings might be a bit faultly ha. If you're every curious what the colors mean, you can refer to the link labeled "Luci's mood ring" on the master post. Or a more simplified list ca be found on her teen ref.

•What exactly are the main cast's species?

Blackie is is a halfbreed kitsune vampire, Luci is a purebreed vampire with demonic powers, Strawberry is a tanuki who practices witch magic, and Frisky is a human. He just has a magical scarf to give him wings like redbull. As for Kris... you'll figure it out. No spoilers, sorry lol.

•How did you come up with the idea of Duotale?

Originally this story was gonna be a comic of our own runs in Undertale, showing how they clash and would effect each other. Kinda like thise PMD comics and Nuzlocke animations people make. But somewhere between writing the script and making the first cover art, we changed our minds and made a whole AU instead.

•Is fanart allowed?

Yes uwu. You can find character info and all current ref sheets in the Masterpost, last section at the bottom :3 If ya tag me, I can reblog it in my main account so peeps can see it, and an account I have specifically for or art made by others so I wont lose it. •What are the pronouns of each character?

You will find all information on the masterpost, last section. If someone is missing we just didnt finish the refs yet. Apologies. Since I know MK, MTT and Blooky will be asked about due to lack of refs, they are all he/him here but Blooky and MK accept They/Them. Remember that this is an Alternate Universe, as in not sticking to the game's lore to a T. So please dont start a fuss over this. If canon versions of the characters ever speak or are spoken to in the Citadel, they will be referred to by the genders Toby (NOT THE FANDOM) placed on them, so be happy with that smh.

A note to avoid confusion since I KNOW this will cause issues if I don't give a bible explanation: WITHIN the comic, Kris' pronouns will be he/him, hence me calling the younger one he/him. Personally, I can't see a literal 3 year old toddler changing his gender or even caring about that. I know I sure didn't back then lol. I didn't care till damn near the end of highschool tbh. Soo, He starts requesting people use they/them (if possible) in his late teens as thats what I personally experienced. Sorry to anyone who wants out of the womb non binary/trans babies. •You can ask LITERALLY anything to ANYONE. Even the mods.

•All questions will go to the cast as they are in the comic, unless we allow asks for the adults for some reason. All asks starting in chapter 2 are considered canon.

•You can ask spoiler based questions, but they will either be heavily censored or answered in a joking manner as to not give away everything that happens in the story. Depending on the question, we may not be able to answer it at all though.

•All asks that seem like spam will be ignored. I know we answered them before jokingly but after a while it becomes too much. Also! We will ignore asks about religion (offensive/forcing), racism, sexism, stuff like that.

In my opinion, Chara gets really close to forgiving Asriel for messing up their plan, really close to just admitting they made a mistake, Asriel was too soft and kind to ever harm anyone, of course, so it never could have worked.

But once they learn (at the end of the true lab, in my opinion) that Asriel is Flowey, all that progress is erased.

Because they were far more willing to accept "Asriel died because he didn't want to hurt anyone" before it turned out that he went on to hurt a bunch of people.

In Chara's opinion, Asriel got them killed for morals he didn't even keep, because he was all for violence as soon as he no longer had need for it. (Please note that this is Chara's perspective, not mine)

They ignore everything that led him up to this point, going with the stupidly simplistic interpretation that he killed everyone simply because he was bored of doing the right thing.

And they hate him for it, not only did he ruin their plan, he killed all of their royal subjects.

And this doesn't change after the Asriel fight, not at all:

How dare he demand forgiveness after what he's done (he literally says "I understand if you can't forgive me")

How dare he think he is above consequences, that he can get off scott free ("there's no excuse for what I've done")

How dare he act like what he did doesn't matter now he's reset (lol, lmao)

How dare he be the angel, how dare he be the one to free everyone, how dare he think he can redeem himself (as if he did so literally just to spite Chara, as if he was thinking of the prophecy at all in that moment)

How dare he have the gall to criticize them after his betrayal (the point wasn't to hurt Chara, it was to warn Frisk)

They try to keep all this hatred and anger in their brain, no need for Frisk to know, right? (Not that they always succeed)

The point is, post pacifist Flowey might be a little resentful after the events of the buttercup plan. But in that case, it would definitely go both ways.

Chara goes from "You mean everything to me, I would do almost anything for you" to "I would give a corn chip for the privilege of selling you to satan" the moment they learn he is Flowey, and that is...painful and also hilarious.
