Lab Rat's "Rolling Loud": A Sonic Lab-yrinth We're Still Mapping Lab Rat, the brainchild of Australian solo artist Dylan James, drops "Rolling Loud" onto our auditory plates, and it's... a lot. Like finding a half-eaten burrito in a washing machine – unexpected, a little messy, and you're not quite sure how you feel about it. Concept art for a very thorough rewrite of PsychoCuties, in which mad science is a valid field of science to study, with Masakrik and Nurse Odessa are a celebrity couple/leading researchers. The actual setting takes place in a mad science university and research hospital where the four live together as a toxic, dysfunctional family of some kind.

More details under the cut:

Ushka is meant to be physically 11 and has cat features. Lutic (Buttercup) is also an artificial being built sometime after she was using dog dna, probably somewhere in his 20s. They act as siblings and are mutually scared of each other.

Dr. Masakrik (Giorgi Masakrik) is the head of the research hospital/facility and regularly runs courses and lecture series at the school. He is also incredibly narcissistic, with the actual skills and accomplishments to back it up. He’s incredibly dangerous.

Nurse Odessa Masakrik (Strawberry) is the dean of the mad science university and incredibly vindictive. She adores dressing up Ushka as a mini-me and had Lutic built to be her personal lab assistant and bodyguard. She also controls her children’s fates entirely, once even ordering Masakrik to disable Lutic for being “too disobedient”.

Some other random details:

Masakrik is a huge David Bowie fan and began religiously dying his hair hot pink in honor of his hero.

Ushka’s favorite food is tinned sardines (on spaghetti marinara, if she’s lucky).

Ushka is regularly used to bring awareness and celebrityhood to mad science on the Internet, like a cat video but with an artificial lab monster instead

Odessa’s name was chosen because it supposedly means “wrathful” in Greek.

Ushka and Lutic both have pointed elf ears, large eyes, animal tails, four fingers and night vision. They are also colorblind.

Uniforms were based on 1930s mad science fashion

Despite how blatantly dysfunctional the Masakrik family is, they are absolutely the type to wear matching Christmas pajamas for their annual holiday cards and do thanksgiving turkey trots.

Students look out for Ushka and Lutic. Such well made, beautiful creatures are a specialty of the school’s faculty

Ushka and Lutic are often used as labrats in the classroom, it’s part of their abuse or punishments

This is Part 1, Part 2 will be more thoroughly discussing the alters outside of Fun Ghoul. This will be a more general overview of the system, what they go through, and and mostly just how Fun Ghoul kind of found out about the system

If ygs are interested, and would like me to do HCs on the other members systems (though I only really HC Fun Ghoul and The Girl as systems, I do like making up HCs for the other members), or have any thoughts, lmk!!

There's around 9 known alters, including Fun Ghoul. There's 1 persecutor (Dasher), 1 introject (Katty, short for Mousekat), 2 littles (Vanta Heart and Rosey Sun), 2 protectors ("Mag" and Coco), 1 caretaker (Mistress), 1 trauma holder (Flash Page), and then Fun Ghoul.

While the rest of the system has fronted before and some even made themselves known to others, Fun Ghoul was mostly unaware of the system for a long time.

The only reason Fun Ghoul manages to catch on a bit is because he has a camera he uses to record for projects or for future reference, and the alters in the system tend to record things on their own, ESPECIALLY the littles, but some of them forget to delete them afterward so Fun Ghoul doesn't find them. As you probably inferred, Fun Ghoul finds the recordings, and finds it really weird, so he investigates, and starts by asking Kobra Kid, as they both work on the trans am together, so he assumed he did those videos. After discussing, Fun Ghoul is confused to learn it was supposedly him that did those videos, and even went by names he never even heard of let alone considered as a name.

After a while of discussing with Kobra Kid on what's been happening, and what's wrong with them, with the little information they have, he decides to be honest and talk with the rest of the group about this. This was reacted to with a general consensus of shock.. but not for the reason he thought. Apparently, they were already aware of some of his alters, but thought he knew so that's why they didn't mention it. When learning of that, he's quite frankly more confused than the rest of his group. When questioned on how long it was like this, Party Poison explained he was always like that, even when they first found him.

Despite all of this, none of them really know the term for what he has, though Jet Star recalls hearing a condition that's similar to what's happening to him, but she can't put her tongue on what it was called.

For a few days after this reveal, Fun Ghoul was just in a constant state of shock. He didn't really talk to anyone and even if he did, it was very brief. He often stayed at their current shelter with The Girl as the others did supply runs and whatnot to just process what the hell happened, which everyone was understanding about.

While unaware of the trauma, Fun Ghoul feels intense fear and hatred whenever he sees the Director or even hears her mentioned, though he can't understand why. This fear also reaches to not only the pornodroids (to an extent anyway), but his own face. He often refuses to look in the mirror, because he's reminded of her, even if only faintly. (as he is the "child" of The Director, a clone, so he looks pretty similar to her)

Fun Ghoul gets nasty headaches, nearly got himself killed during a run in with the dracs because of them. In some of these headaches, he actively refuses to take off his mask, covers his ears tightly as he sits alone in a corner, pushing everyone away. The only person he occasionally allows to come close is Kobra Kid, very rarely The Girl.

not to be all No Fun Allowed but it does legit kinda get under my skin that Control is largely the Dr Darling show fandom wise. Like he is a fun and interesting character who is charming and i enjoyed his videos as much as anyone but man he is just Not a character i can have fun with. Not with everything he does to Dylan and Jesse.

One of the most horrifying things about the game to me is how Dylan is totally left behind and given up on by him, and how Jesse was stalked basically her whole life by the FBC presumably by his command because of things were failing with Dylan. how dylan gave into the Hiss because he got locked in a fucking box and given up on. And how Jesse has to deal with the fact he essentially lost him and can't connect with him in the end. I'll admit this hits me very very very hard for personal reasons with my relationship to my own brother and family that i don't super want to get into but it does mean i am very protective of the siblings and that the story is painful to me and I care about it so much.

I dont want to be like ouhhh he's PROBLEMATIC ! and you CANT like him but it doesssss suck to see people clamor for him because he does have a charming fun exterior and completely ignore that he is a horrible abusive man in power who used children as labrats and made the entire hiss crisis worse by not telling anyone a damn thing to anyone. and i'm sure that's part of the appeal for him to at least some which i cant fault anyone for because i love a horriible piece of shit character as much as the next guy but this one hits a little to close to home for it to be Fun for me so it's just. A BUMMER !!! IDK MAN!! I want to have more fun here. lol.

Already shared the idea on the discord server, but I had the idea of how I could incorporate the analog horror themes into the Lab rats au-

Basically, stored in the facility there are different documents and more importantly tapes about the patients, and the process of all of their mutations:

Mark: a tape made my Gabriel themself, documenting the changes and development of mostly Mark’s “wings”. Also has some rambling about how he’s the “perfect subject” for the tests, and how his mutations are “so promising.”

Cesar: an informational video somewhat like “Deep Root Disease” from Gemini Home Entertainment. Basically documents the dangers of the “fungus” covering most of Cesar’s body, and safety protocols to use when the staff is interacting with him.

Jonah: Mostly corrupted, but the tape is made by Amanda, documenting the procedures and mutations he went through. Medical notes, mostly.

Adam: Mostly info about him, but it also has an interview with Adam in the form of a monthly checkup. His eyes are censored throughout the entire video, except for one frame, which is all it takes to feel dread and paranoia if you look at his eyes.

N: Mostly an employee training video, though it takes a dark turn when it shows N as an example of what happens to disobedient employees.

Six: Basically runs down his purpose as a watcher of the other patients.

So, I finally drew LabRat after so long!! I was looking through some old pictures, and I remembered how much I loved LabRat!🖤So, have this! I was thinking of making this an NSFW comic, but eh.. I'm kinda losing motivation.. But we'll see.
