🪐Saturn Lord of Karma Part 2🪐
Saturn in Cancer- this position can be unpleasant because Capricorn is the opposite sign of Cancer. Saturn is cold, heavy and sometimes exhausting while Cancer is emotional. The individual may find himself in uncontrollable emotional. He may feel feelings of guilt, lack, unacceptance, not belonging. Parents could be very cold and strict. Family members could keep to themselves. The individual has difficulty controlling his emotional reactions in love and intimate relationships. He can also be ashamed of his emotions. They can appear insecure, sensitive and subjective.
Saturn in Scoprio- he has deep passion, emotional attachment and family karma, which he perceives through a secretive and closed way. He can have years of emotions inside him that he never reveals. It can manifest itself through jealousy, possessiveness, manipulation. But they are afraid of emotional loneliness. There can be problems in relationships - love and marriage. Problems can also be related to sexuality (they can face sexual abuse). Education at a young age also has a great influence. These people can also have premature conception. This situation can be manifested through problematic experiences with death (direct contact with murder, suicide...). Individuals can feel bad when someone is controlling them and need constant control with everything.
Saturn in Pisces- it lays the foundations of its activities on the basis of compassion, universal understanding, selfless love and a tendency to sacrifice. The instability of the Pisces sign and the ambivalent or two-faced behavior of Saturn largely prevent the individual from realizing their idealistic expectations in love relationships or relationships. Saturn in Pisces wants to work professionally and scientifically in the field of psychology and psychotherapy, as well as in frontier areas such as mysticism, metaphysics, esotericism and astrology. People are prone to psychoanalysis, the study of the unconscious, dreams, imaginations, fantasies and or rather, trying to sort out chaos and complex systems based on universal truths and deep feelings. Many times they can be limited by their emotions. The professional path can be disturbed if alcohol and drugs are present.
Saturn in Aries- the goals of a planet and a sign can be different. Saturn can create strict and unyielding control or pressure over an individual's personality. The relationship with the saturn could be painful or cruel. You can secretly beat parents, teachers, authorities, authorities and laws. People may have a tendency to impose their opinions or beliefs on others. They may be afraid of humiliation, submission, or personality. That is why he strengthens his personality, which is able to overcome all obstacles and problems on the path of life. He has goals and the ambition to climb up. They may have trouble achieving self-control, as they have a strong ego that wants to achieve their goals by any means necessary.
Saturn in Leo -ego is difficult to develop here. Leos like playfulness and Saturn likes seriousness. Parenting can be rough. They may have influenced their personality, playfulness, joy. People have a hard time finding their inner child. A person can behave contrary to what he is. They may wear a mask and be afraid of people seeing them as they are. They never want to show their weaknesses because they feel that people will use them. They can be great players. They cannot accept failure and lack self-criticism
Saturn in Sagittarius-Saturn here can introduce criticality, skepticism, which can reduce people's faith, joy in life, life's joys. They may have feelings of pessimism, sadness. These people can really struggle to find meaning. They want spontaneity but find it difficult to achieve. Accepting responsibility curbs the tendency to exaggerate, which can mean on one side overloading with work, duties and obligations, and secondly promiscuity, unrestrained freedom and moral laxity. The individual is afraid of social failure, so he tries very hard to make a good impression on other people.
Saturn in 1st house- these people are very careful in everything they do, because circumstances have taught them so. They don't trust immediately, but only over time. People have a problem with expressing themselves freely and it also shows a lack of initiative. People can be insecure and this can turn off a lot of relationships. This could be the influence of his parents in the past. Many times these people have a mask that they walk with and therefore it is difficult to really identify them. They are shy. And indecisiveness or arrogance many times use their defense mechanism. If Saturn is in conjunction with the ascendant, this usually indicates problems at birth, a difficult or long labor. The individual does not dare to step into life clearly, loudly, openly. Many times this situation indicates self-isolation, which can turn into depression. Many times they can be afraid even though nothing like that has happened. They work calmly, reliably, responsibly and seriously.
Saturn in 4th house-Saturn here greatly cools all relationships in the domestic environment. Home and family may be completely satisfactory, clean and orderly from a formal point of view, but there is emotional emptiness, repulsion and coldness among family members. Living in such a family is very unpleasant and difficult. When you set up your own home, there is a possibility of divorce or divorce. The arrangement of the home is often traditional or even archaic: the father does the traditionally male work, the mother the female, the children must strictly observe the rules and restrictions. What happens in the domestic circle must remain strictly confidential, because these things are not discussed in public. In this situation, there is also the possibility that one or both parents are alcoholics, drug addicts, without a job or income, or have some other serious problems. It can also happen that the individual has no parents at all, that they are replaced by grandparents, relatives or guardians, or that their home is an orphanage or an institution. Even when you live alone you can feel empty sometimes. The decision to have a family can be thought out because otherwise you may have problems with blockages and restrictions with your partner. It is important to get closer to your partner because you can live in the same house but be estranged.
Saturn in 5th house-fear of risk or games of chance, incapacity for love adventures, problems with conceiving, giving birth and raising children, feelings of rejection, lack of joy in living and enjoying, satisfaction. You can hide that happy side of you from others. This is the result of heredity and upbringing. Because the flow of creative energy was hindered or even blocked, your self-actualization and self -identification could suffer. Perhaps such a child never received the proper recognition that he is a worthy, independent and self-sufficient being, but was subjected to strict control, discipline and prohibitions. So his ego could not develop to the point where he could be happy because he is a living and creative being. Thus, a child and later an adult feel unaccepted. This position also means that the individual cannot have children, or else the years cause him many problems, strains and pains. This position sometimes also indicates the need for the individual to express himself as important, respected.
Saturn in 8th house-this house shows shared values and values with a partner, about various help and support of a partner, about sexual habits and sexuality in general, about secrets, psychological research, attitude to death, about other people's money and financial institutions, and about surgical procedures. It limits the flow and exchange of emotional energy between the partners, which can be expressed in the way that the partners try to control the emotional processes, with which they disturb each other. There is a strong emotional attachment in the relationship, or there is not - in the event that this is not the case, problems may arise when sharing joint money and property. Indeed, Saturn in the eighth house indicates emotional alienation, unrestrainedness and old fashionedness. There is also the possibility of theft, financial losses or the loss of all possessions, which happens after the emotional connection is gone. Pairing support is important. Indeed, this support depends on emotional connection. Since the eighth house is also related to sexuality, it is not surprising if prostitution becomes one of the career options. This position indicates involvement in psychological research and psychotherapy.
Saturn in 9th house-The ninth house tells something about the individual's ideals, faith, relationship to the sacred, ethical and moral principles, deep knowledge, philosophy of life, foreigners and relations with them, high-level education, long travel and long-distance means of transport (planes). It is typical for Saturn in the ninth house that education was traditionally oriented. The mentality and attitudes of the parents could be uncompromisingly transmitted to the child. Later in life, you may not be able to handle yourself well or think for yourself. Their philosophy of life is also rigid and traditional, and it is very difficult to change it because it is deeply rooted. Thus, the search for new ideals, beliefs and philosophy of life can become problematic. This position also shows a skeptical attitude towards everything that cannot be scientifically or orthodoxly proven, which indicates the fear that any unproven and unconfirmed belief could cause great ethical and moral damage.
Saturn in 12th house-this house represents unconscious, collective and karmic content, secrecy, isolation, humanitarian work, illegal business, final processes, the pre-natal state of the embryo, closed institutions and hidden opponents. Saturn in this house indicates fear, anxiety and horror at the loss of one's own substance. Hard to reach firmness and maturity. You can be exposed to many karmic relationships, chaotic. You usually have extraordinary problems when it comes to standing up for yourself and showing a solid inner structure. We can say that a person with Saturn in this position is his own biggest opponent. Although you try hard to build a suitable personality or life structure, you partially succeed in this only later in life. This position is certainly also karmic, because the current incarnation requires him to overcome the obstacles of the past and establish a relationship between time and non-time. The individual often feels as if he is imprisoned in a prison, mental hospital, or some other closed institution from which he is trying to break free. The twelfth house is also the field of prenatal events, which refers to the period in the last third of pregnancy, when the mutual experience of mother and child is especially close. With Saturn in this position, there is usually a severe fear of giving birth itself, so the mother can be very worried about how the birth will go and whether everything will turn out well. In addition to fear, there is also unease and dissatisfaction with the fact that she got pregnant at all. Feelings of guilt are also possible, which are connected to the fact that the mother did not want the child in the first place. Feelings can be transferred to the child. Because of this, feelings of tension and alienation may appear later. These are the causes of imaginary psychological problems, why a person experiences life as foreign and problematic.

What Each Townie Adds to the Community Center After Complete, Pt. 1
Farmer - a farm-to-table dinner once a month and everyone brings a side dish to share
Caroline - expands her fitness class and moves it to the Center (offers 3-4x's a week)
Evelyn - a baking class once a month (mostly cookies, some cakes too. Haley sometimes helps).
Gus - cooking class once a week (and he would be such a good teacher with a gentle, encouraging voice) AND a near daily breakfast for seniors and vets (because he's that kind of guy)
Sebastian - basic computer classes because these townsfolk need to get outta the dark ages. Jk... but seriously, he would open a computer lab. People could come work on resumes, kids could play games after school and on weekends (Sam included), and folks could pay bills online.
Penny would create a kids club for after school on Wednesdays. Vincent, Jas, and Leo all come for storytime, homework help, snacks, and playtime. Jas would donate some of her old dolls and toys. Vincent would create a bug display. Leo would fix up a treehouse out front with help from Robin.
Robin would offer woodworking classes, and she would co-lead an environmental science club with Demetrius (for the social and moral support).
Willy and Elliott would arrange beach clean-up days, and use the Center to create a place for recycling gathering. (And compost - Leah and the Farmer would add).
Gunther would partner with the Adventurer's Guild to host a series of guest lectures on the 2nd Saturday of the month. Archeologists, botanists, monster hunters, travelers, other experts.
Shane would open an AA chapter and suicide prevention support group (with some encouragement from Harvey). Bad coffee. Stale donuts. Everyone feels welcome though.
Band practice would move out of Sam's bedroom and into the Center. He would also organize an open mic night (Abigail would do most of the work, but his enthusiasm counts). He would support and cheer for everyone equally (no matter how off-key).
Elliott would do poetry readings. Once he was published, he would host his book reveal party at the Center. Over wine for the 21+.
Leah would host art classes - sculpting, painting, etc. She would also organize a tri-athlon with Alex.
Alex would fix up the backyard for a kids gridball team. He would have a sports mentorship program (and kids from surrounding towns would attend). Work hard. Play hard. And learn life skills. With a lot of help from other townies.
Haley would create a dark room for anyone wanting to develop their own photos. And she would gladly have many of her own photos on display.
I feel like George would host movie nights with help from Alex, Sebastian and Maru. Alex would hang the projector, Seb would set up the equipment, and Maru would decorate with lights in the yard for movies under the stars in summertime. And bring strawberries to share, of course. Old timey movies. Black and whites.
Harvey (and Maru) would host health clinics, offering free wellness checkups. Gus would provide healthy lunches. They would team up with Caroline for a fitness class. Emily would call her Swami friend for a yoga and meditation demonstration.
Emily would definitely start a sewing circle. Jodi would join. Maybe Marnie. And Caroline would enjoy cross-stitch.
Em would also do additional projects. The younger ladies like Abigail, Sophia, and Scarlett would definitely be into cosplay and costuming together. Abs would drag Sebastian in every once in awhile and Sam would tag along, just cuz. Seb would rock Puck from A Midsummer's Night Dream. And Elliott would make a fantastic Romeo. Haley would definitely be Juliet.

[ s**cide warning ] - a big problem i have with sonic prime s3 ( amongst several other ones i have ).
.
i've talked about this at length ( more or less ) with a friend of mine and this bothered both of us, so i wanted to see if anyone else had this issue.
according to one scene in s3, Sonic is canonically suicidal. not self-sacrificial ( which can mean the same thing, but often doesn't ), but suicidal.
for comparisons sake, let's talk about Leonardo from ROTTMNT, who was the example of self-sacrificial.
Tumblr media
Leonardo and Sonic are in a similar boat. they made a mistake ( though, i firmly believe Sonic's was less of a mistake and more of an unfortunate circumstance ), and they try to fix it throughout the story.
while i'm not going to debate Sonic's characterization here ( cuz i think it's utter dogshit and is for an entirely different post ), i will talk about the mindsets that make these two different.
Leonardo didn't want to die here. he was fine with doing so, but only because he believed that would keep his family safe. if he did want to die, we wouldn't see Leo put so much thought into his actions.
Tumblr media
we see that he isn't looking for the opportunity to die. throughout the entire movie, he's self-destructive because he knows that, at least to some extent, the plan going wrong was his fault. he knows ( or believes, depending on how you view the movie ) that Raph sacrificing himself only happened because Leo didn't listen.
so, Leonardo isn't suicidal, but self-sacrificial. because he just wants his family back.
now, let's move back to Sonic.
Tumblr media
( this is not the scene where he's suicidal, obviously )
when Sonic goes to confront Nine on his own, Nine says at some point:
"you want to save everyone. friends, foes, total strangers. you say it's because you're a hero and that's what heroes do, but deep down... after what you did, destroying your own home, it's the only way you can ever live with yourself. even if that means you won't live at all."
this is Sonic's self-destructive behavior.
rather than focusing on one goal, Sonic focuses on all of them ( to varying degrees, cuz the writer's don't know what they're doing ) at expense of his own. yes, he wants Green Hill to come back, but it's more of for his friends ( Shadow included ) than for himself.
at first, he misses Green Hill. he really wants to go home. but by s3, it's more or less him just wanting Green Hill to exist again. it's like he no longer cares if he's in the picture.
and considering how Sonic was the key to everything ( due to his Prism energy ), he'd have to become a sacrifice at some point, but this confrontation is different.
for one thing, Sonic is alone.
he tries to push his friends away before talking to Nine.
he doesn't deny that he can't live with himself if he doesn't try to save everyone.
the only reason Sonic stopped was because his friends intervened.
of course, Sonic might not show all the symptoms of a suicidal person ( unless ofc, you're looking into this as deep as i am ), but that's not because he's no longer suicidal. that's not how it works. it's because right after the intervention, it's never brought up again. it's just bad writing and it's disrespectful.
but as i see Sonic as someone who's suicidal, according to the suicide prevention resource center, the symptoms are:
feeling unbearable pain
Nine's comment on how it's the "only way he can live with himself" can be seen as Sonic feeling unbearable pain from his own guilt. this can also be related to Sonic in s2 when he's in Ghost Hill for the first time.
Tumblr media
Sonic has been going left and right trying to help everyone else in their respective Gateways that his progress on returning home slowed. especially since he didn't know Green Hill didn't have its own Gateway, but instead was destroyed.
death, or a recent fascination with death.
his sacrifice could be seen as such. especially since this was after what Nine said.
Tumblr media
feeling hopeless, worthless, or trapped.
throughout s3, Sonic repeatedly has doubt or hopeless about himself or the situations around him. of course, the moments are fleeting, but the amount of times he does this could lead to something a suidical person would say or do.
feeling guilt, shame, or anger.
aside from his guilt, Sonic has expressed shame ( it doesn't help Shadow kept beating it into him that it was his fault every 2 seconds ) in s2-s3, and anger was prominent within s3. it was towards Nine, mostly, but it felt almost unnatural or uncharacteristic anger.
feeling like a burden to others.
Sonic had tried to isolate himself from everyone else more than once, emotionally or physically, and only stopped once his friends made it clear they weren't leaving.
changes in behavior or mood that are relevant to Sonic specifically:
recent attempt ( again, sacrifice )
withdrawing from family, friends, or community ( his repeated attempts to do things alone // isolating himself due to his guilt )
losing interest in personal appearance or hygiene ( more or less out of Sonic's control, but we've only seen him take even a little bit care of himself when he was on Dread's ship )
a recent episode of depression, emotional distress, and // or anxiety ( repeated emotional distress, having to be pulled out of the cave, shaking or fidgeting hands, etc. )
changes in eating // sleeping patterns ( again, not totally within his control, but it would affect one's mental state regardless )
becoming violent or being a victim of violence ( ...*COUGHS* sha- *COUGHS* ni- *COUGHS* )
expressing rage ( Sonic's borderline threats about Nine )
recklessness ( ... )
again, because this is never brought up after, i wouldn't be surprised if people didn't think too much into this scene beyond "oh, Nine's evil and mean".
purely from a writer's perspective, i don't think Sonic Prime is a good show. it's what i consider a "junk food show". something to laugh at for its quality. but i don't consider it a good show.
so, i'm not surprised that Sonic's suicidal behavior or the talk about Sonic's mindset isn't brought up again, but it is still disappointing and offensive to those who struggled or continue to struggle with suicidal ideation or acts.
this is probably the only official Sonic media that has a suicidal Sonic, and they don't even treat it with respect. because of course they don't. what does it matter? Sonic's a dumb little guy anyway!
anyway, this is just my long way of saying that i see Sonic as a suicidal hero, not a self-sacrificial one ( or not only a self-sacrificial one ), and why Sonic Prime pisses me off for this reason.
it's fine to have a suicidal hero character. it brings a lot of things up for discussion.
but it's not okay to use it as a way to make your audience sad for a few minutes, then pull the rug from beneath them.

leo is a good person? can i ask why? i don’t see any good besides laughing at someone possibly killing themselves and then writing a self pitying apology. this is a genuine ask, because i really don’t know what good person would say something like that.
you have got to get a fucking grip on reality please go talk to real humans no one’s mom is posting an 8 tweet thread on their kids dream stan twitter account after they attempt including a censored TW so they don’t get sussed, a spoiler marked suicide note, and linking fucking suicide prevention resources at the end—that person is 18 goddamn years old you know damn well by that point that that’s ridiculous behavior and regardless of your mental state people are perfectly allowed to point out how insane that is when you post it on a public platform

Video 1: Nigar has a wet dream where Ibrahim chokes her
(In between they essentially kill Leo)
Video 2: Nigar and Ibrahim have sex on his marriage bed immediately after his son’s death
Video 3: Nigar pens a suicide letter
Video 4: Nigar tries to commit suicide and Ibrahim prevents it saying that she should commit suicide somewhere other than his house
Video 5: Nigar kisses an unconscious Ibrahim
(Presumably) Video 6: Ibrahim makes Nigar marry his friend
(Presumably) Video 7: Ibrahim makes his friend divorce Nigar on their wedding night, and makes Nigar his “kept woman”
It is just… Every stage of this relationship is more disgusting, vulgar, tasteless and cruel than the last. I absolutely love it.

Imagine being Ronin Mikey in Eclipse Across Dimensions.
You lost your brothers, your father, you live in an apocalyptic police state run by the Footclan (who are why majority of your family are dead) with your sister and your niece. You want revenge against the Footclan's leader (you are also actively suicidal and constantly hear the voices of your dead family haunting you)
Then one day two mutant turtles literally fall from the sky. Both wearing orange masks (familiar orange masks, like the one you used to wear) they both fight with nunchucks (just like yours)
They are yelling the names of your dead brothers as they travel through the remains of your city, as if expecting an answer from the dead.
As soon as they two turtles see you, they full on CHARGE AT YOU AT FULL SPEED
You cannot escape them. They are FAST little fuckers. (And considering the fact that the smaller of the two threw an entire flying BUS at Foot Police...yeah you dont wanna tick him off.)
It doesnt take long for them to catch you. And then they are attached. Literally, you cant get them off of you. They are strong as hell.
You begrudingly head home (with the two turtles still clinging to you like leeches)
Once at home the duo start the rapid fire questions ("Have you seen our brothers?" "Raph is this tall and he's like a chihuahua!" "Donnie has a forehead bigger than Montana! You can't miss it!" "My Donnie has a gap tooth like Michael! Its more in the center so have you seen him?" "Leo is hurt really really badly but when I find him Im gonna wring his neck! So do you know where he is?" "Dark blue eyes? Twin katanas? Any tornados recently?") So you end up learning a few things.
One-The multiverse is real
Two-These turtles are alternate versions of YOU
Three-They are looking for alternate versions of your dead brothers.
Four-They have mystic powers
Five-Their brothers all got separated after the biggest deadliest fight of their lives to prevent an ACTUAL APOCALYPSE from happening. (Also one of their brothers, Leon, is most likely on the brink of death)
Its...a lot to take in.
These poor kids look exhausted, battered and injured (the younger one's hands are wrapped in bandages up to the elbows, his hands trembling nonstop, while the older one has an arm completely wrapped in a cast and a thick piece of gause covering most of his plastron) the least you can do is let them stay with you.
They take up residence in your home, claiming a pile of old pillows and blankets as their bed.
Neither of them leave each other's side. And considering everything they went through, you dont blame them.
The next week or so is spent searching New York for their missing brothers, because you will be damned if you'll let two versions of you experience the same pain and grief you did. You dont find the missing turtles.
And while the two turtles are terrifying to watch as they help you fight the Foot Police (despite the massive injuries the younger turtles have)
So eventually the two turtles leave, with sullen faces.
You feel bad for them, you really do. These poor kids are going through the worst time in their lives. Their family is missing, there was an attempt at Alien dominion, everyone is badly hurt. The entire world almost got destroyed. All in a day.
(The older Mikey gave you a cellphone shaped like a turtle shell. "If you find them or hear anything about them, please call us ok?" And then the two left)
You look through the phone's gallery (you dont go further than that) it was an older version with all the data already backed up. There are pictures, videos. Pictures of a family so similar to the one you lost, videos of eight turtles all having fun and beeing teenagers. It makes your heart ache. Your family used to look like that, before everything went to shit.
You can only hope that these two will be alright.
Then about a month later the two turtles return (in significantly better shape than before)
Maybe they found their brothers? Before you can ask they both look up at you with bright smiles on their faces.
You chat with them for a bit before...
"You're coming with us." The older one states. Its not a question, you dont have a choice.
Something's...off about them. (Maybe its the way their smiles looked strained, or how blank their eyes look.) Then you notice that their veins are jet black in color, visible on their skin all the way up to their cheeks. Its in their bloodshot eyes too, making the veins pitch black. It was unsettling.
You naturally back away, something clearly happened to these two since they left. The Mikeys approach, drawing their weapons. The smiles never leaving their faces.
You fight them, they move MUCH faster than before and they are so much stronger.
You don't stand a chance. Despite your decades of fighting and experience, your years of training, every single skill your worked hard to master.
It didn't matter.
For some reason these kids were whooping your ass into next Tuesday, every hit hurting more than the last.
It doesnt take long before your head is slammed into a wall, knocking you out cold.
The next time you wake you are tied to a surgical table, thick metal restraints keeping you pinned. You are in a lab of some kind, a dark lab that reeked of old blood an chemicals.
As you lay there struggling to free yourself you hear whistling that rings like bells. A tail being dragged across the floor, aow excited sounding growl mixing in with the two precious sounds. Theres also the click-clacking of high heels against the floor.
Four women enter the room. Three are wearing lab coats and appear to be mutants (The first one a ghostly white and lizard like, with long curling horns and four green eyes, she looks bored of you. Her hands have been replaced by what look like mutant wolf paws with claws long enough to slice your head clean off.
The second being shorter, a rosey pink colored salamander with matching green eyes, she looks mildly amused at your struggles. Bat wings that clearly do not belong on her body have been attached to her back, judging by the mystical looking band around her chest that probably lets her actually use the wings given the wire connecting to the back.
The third and tallest of the trio appears to be the most humanoid, she looked amphibious, with the webbed hands and the gills on her neck. Her skin was a dark blue, near black color covered in rainbow freckles, like water and motor oil. Her hair is black black smoke, wisping around like a snake. Her eyes are a bright red, framed by thin gold glasses. She has a massive burn scar on the right side of her face. She grins menacingly, her sharp pointy teeth glinting in the dim light)
The final woman is the shortest of all four, older looking with purple skin and wearing an expensive purple dress, blue coat with green fur. She moves her silver bangs out of her eyes before looking at you, a bright red gemstone on her chest practically glowing. She taps it, turning into a giant spider mutant.
"Hello my turtly boo!" She coos, having the audacity to boop you on the nose with her claw. "My havent you grown into a befuzzled behemoth! But so dull, where's the dazzle? The excitement?"
Oh jow you want to deck this giant spiser in the face.
She turns to the amphibian lady. "Dr. Bloodmoon, I expect this brute to be Battle Nexus ready by tomorrow night! Feel free to get as creative as your dimblely little heart desires, just make him more attention grabbing please. I need a new champion to replace the Shredder Beast after all."
The Shredder WHAT?
The amphibian smiles, her lizard assistants joining her with a sadistic look in their eyes. "Of course mother! I would be honored to create your newest champion. However I will need access to only the finest parts and materials. I'm assuming I can retrieve such things from the Nexus?"
The spider nods before leaving. "Do not disappoint me again, or you can go back to the disgusting little prison cell you were staying in!" Now you were left alone with the scientists.
The amphibian claps her hands. "We have much to do and so little time! Katrina, go retrieve a mamba scorpion stinger from the Nexus! As well as some Lycan claws and perhaps a few bat wings."
The white lizard nods before disappearing down the dark hallway.
"Anastasia, would you be a dear and fetch the bonesaw?"
"Yes Doctor." The pink lizard says, strutting over to a far shelf. The amphibian leans over you, watching as you struggle helplessly in your binds. Its like they get tighter the more you pull at them.
"When I get out of here-"
"You're going into the Battle Nexus Arena, and you will become the champion!" She suddenly grabs your face really tightly, her claws digging in your skin. "I am NOT going back to that prison cell, do you understand me? I am not going to sit there waiting to be executed because YOU refuse to cooperate. So you will do as I say or I will show you new levels of agony that would make you WISH you were dead! Am I CLEAR!" She hisses evilly while trying to crush your face like a stress ball.
"I already wish I was dead. So do your worst. Because I'm getting out of here and then your head will be rolling across the god damn floor." The woman looks shocked at your threat as her assistant returns.
The pink lizard holds up a large circular saw, probably twice the size of your head.
And it was literally made out of bones. Lovely.
"I want his liver." The pink lizard says, and you cant help but shudder.
The amphibian locks eyes with you. "You can have it, in fact you can have anything else you want besides the brain, heart and lungs." The lizard laughs, revving up the bonesaw.
"I was going to be nice and use a bit of anesthesia, but I much rather listen to your suffering." The bonesaw starts to be lowered to your exposed plastron. "Be sure to scream nice and loud so I can hear you over the saw ok?" You struggle harder in your restraints, trying desperately to break free.
As the saw comes closer and closer you can't help but think 'Is this it? Am I actually going to die like this? Without even avenging my family?'
You shut your eyes, bracing for whats to come.
It seems that even after all these years turtle luck is truly a bitch.
All you can do is hope the two Mikeys will somehow be ok.
The saw makes contact with your plastron and you can't help but scream.
It only gets worse from here.

Rottmnt: atoning part 1/3
Tw: Death, mentions of suicidal thoughts
Leo doesn't remember what happened. All he remembers is throwing Casey through the portal, fighting the krang hound's to prevent them from going through the portal before it closed, and then red hot PAIN.
He thinks for a minute. He remembers what he did. No, what he made Mikey do. He had ordered his youngest brother to sacrifice himself for a CHANCE at victory. He wants to cry at the mere thought of what he did. He wants to scream in agony, but he can barely move. His body burns, yet somehow he is alive.
He hears footsteps. Metallic, powerful, and big footsteps. Before he can even attempt to move his head, he hears the voice of the person he hates more than almost anyone in the world.
Krang prime: I know you're alive, green creature. I made sure that the lazer wasn't enough to kill you, but it was enough to make you wish you were dead.
Leo wants to fight krang prime. He wants to beat him, torture him, KILL him. He wants nothing more in this moment than to fulfill the one mission he has left. Avenge his brothers. But he doesn't try to get up. He knows he lost. Why make himself suffer even more when krang prime is about to kill him anyway. He closes his eyes, waiting for krang prime to finish him off.
But he doesn't... Instead he keeps talking.
Krang prime: You green creatures were really annoying. No matter what we tried you always kept coming back. But as I told you, the day we killed the red one and the grey one. Strength will ALWAYS prevail. After they fell, the orange one regained he dumb magic tricks. But the purple one wasn't so lucky. All he had where his dumb machines. We captured him and looked into his mind. He was quite smart. He seems to have been your only hope for victory. But after he was dead and we knew your secrets, You NEVER stood a chance.
Leo tenses up at the mention of his fallen family. He remembers the day his father and raph died. A bunch of krang had broken into the lair and destroyed Donnie's defences. Mikey's arm was broken. Ralph and splinter had given everything they had to keep them safe. But Splinter's back problems were acting up and it got him killed. Raph's emotions got the better of him and he was stabed through the chest.
Leo and Donnie were heartbroken but Mikey... He was the most sad and the most ANGRY. He had somehow gotten his mystic powers back, and he FRIED all the krang. But the sewers were already compromised. They had to leave their home for the second time.
As for Donnie, they snuck some krang into S.H.E.L.D.O.N and when Donnie was on a mission, they captured him. They had invaded his mind, stole valuable intell about the location and interworking of the resistance, and killed him.
After that they. Leo and Mikey decided to do one final fight against the krang. They planned that if it had failed that Leo and Casey, along with any survivors would go through the portal to the past. However there where no survivors, and Leo, feeling the guilt of everything he had done, just wanted to DIE.
Krang prime: I think you know you lost. We have killed all of your family, and every single member of your pathetic resistance. But I bet your wondering why we haven't killed you. After the headache you caused for us we have decided a quick death is to good for you. With your injurys you won't make it to tomorrow. Now go, enjoy your last day in the hell you caused.
Krang prime walked away. Alongside him, all other krang left aswell. Leo was alone, lying in the Battlefield. He doesn't know how long he laid there. But after a while. A thought came into his head. It caused him pain, but as he got up, he began to speak.
Leo: I was the one who lost the key. This is all my fault. All of those death's, the death's of my family. I caused them all.
Leo paused, usually when he was talking like this Mikey was there to tell him it wasn't his fault. But now, he was alone. Leo continued talking.
Leo: I can't fix my mistake. But I can atone for what I did to my family.
Summoning strength he didn't know he had, Leo grabbed his sword, and began the walk to the old lair.
___________________________________________
This was originally just going to be one part. But my hand is starting to hurt from all this typing. This story is going to have a bittersweet ending as there is no hope to beat the krang. This story will take place over the course of one day.

Blood Brothers.(part 20) This part is basically a huge Beastars reference. Warning: Metions of risky magazines.
(Leo takes Moondrop to his dining room and poors Moondrop some strawberry juice.)
Leo: I can sense that you're getting hungry, so gulp that juice down before your bloodlust kicks in.
(Moondrop quickly drinks the strawberry juice.)
Moondrop: I have a few questions, Leo.
Leo: And I have a few questions for you, Moondrop.
Moondrop: Like what?
Leo: For starters...(pulls out a camera and takes a picture of Moondrop) When was the last time you consumed a mortal's blood?
Moondrop: I never did!
Leo: Well, when a vampire collapses like that, it usually means they've recently consumed a mortal's blood. The odds are nine to one.
(Moondrop starts feeling guilty and avoids eye contact.)
Moondrop: I almost did...
Leo: Let me guess, was it this Blossom that Sundrop told me about?
Moondrop: Sundrop told you!?
Leo: He sure did.
Moondrop: Why!?
Leo: Because he's worried about both you and the mortal you're obsessed with.
Moondrop: (grumble) Of course...
(Moondrop calms down.)
Moondrop: If you're a vampire rehabilitator, then why are you never seen in the village?
Leo: It's technically more of a sanctuary, but the reason is while the others deal with vampires who are either passing by, fighting bloodlust, or in a bloodlust state, but still haven't drank blood, I deal with vampires who have already given into their bloodlust, and those vampires are much more dangerous.
Moondrop: What happens to vampires who give into their bloodlust?
Leo: I'm glad you asked.
(Leo shows Moondrop a wall covered in photos of vampires consumed by bloodlust.)
Leo: This is what happens to vampires who let their bloodlust consume them, most become evil, some vampires go completely feral, other vampires end up hating themselves so much that they commit suicide, one vampire ended up drinking a mortal to death because she thought she loved him so much.
Moondrop: And, how do you rehabilitate the vampires you deal with?
Leo: What do you think I'm doing now, just some red produce and counseling.
Moondrop: (defensive) I am not a patient!
Leo: That's the first thing all my patients say.
Moondrop: I'm different, I can control my bloodlust!
Leo: And that's the second thing they all say.
Moondrop: What do you know about my situation, I'm just in love, and I will confess to her!
(Leo slams his hands onto the table.)
Leo: Shut up, you little prick, you think you know everything when in reality, you're just barking like a god damn chihuahua, Listen to the words of the professional!(points to himself)
(Moondrop calms down and gets back to his seat.)
Leo: What you have inside you are vampiric instincts disguised as romantic feelings. It's the worst of them all. You may think you simply want a meaningful relationship with Blossom, but that's just what you're reasoning's telling you. It's camouflage for your true desire to brutally devour every drop of her blood, killing her in the process, you still have time to prevent it, you need to sever all your ties with Blossom before it's too late!
Moondrop: You're no better than Hierophant...
Leo: What do you mean I'm no better then someone who literally wants and tries to stake vampires to extiction!?
Moondrop: You may not hunt us anymore, but you used to, and even after you supposedly realized that vampires can be more than savage blood suckers, you still seem to believe that all vampires are the same in nature, not to mention that even though you claim to want to help vampires rather than simply kill them, you still seem to believe that you need to carry around a stake sword everywhere.
(Leo looks at the stake sword that was poorly hidden in his backpack.)
Moondrop: Yeah, don't think I didn't notice that during this entire conversation, you two both seem to be hateful towards us vampires, but at least Hierophant is up and front about his hatred towards vampires, rather than hiding behind a mask of care!
Leo: (defensive) You vampires are just asking for trouble, you get all pissy over nothing and label everything as love!
Moondrop: Anyway, everyone at the village is probably wondering where I am, so can I go now?
Leo: (Sigh) Fine, but please take this with you.
(Leo hands Moondrop an 18+ magazine full of possum ladies.)
Moondrop: (confused and slightly offended) Are you serious?
Leo: This is a serious method, if this turns you on, then you're just a weird vamp with a particular fetish, but if you don't get turned on and you're still obsessed with Blossom specifically, then you need to cut all ties with her.
Moondrop: I'm not taking that, you fucking perv!
Leo: Fine, but it's Blossom's funeral...
Moondrop: Go fuck yourself!
(Moondrop flips Leo off and storms out.)
Leo: (Sigh) This won't end well...

Lexi’s legacy: Students hold event in honour of late friend
A pair of high school students put their heart and soul into a five-kilometre walk and run on Sunday to honour their friend Lexi Daken.
The 16-year-old died by suicide in February 2021.
The grade 12 students from Leo Hayes High School organized the fundraiser as part of a school course, to honour Lexi's memory and to increase awareness for youth mental health.
Moments before the run began, event organizer and best friend Lujayn Abuamer said Lexi was someone special who had a great sense of humour and a unique laugh.
“No one could ever tell she was going through so much,” said Abuamer. “She was brave enough to be vulnerable and reach out for help multiple times and never got the help she required which is why we're doing this.”
Six days before her death, Lexi sought help at the emergency room of the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton.
She waited eight hours to see a psychiatrist but was sent home without meeting with one.
The goal of Sunday's event was to improve the mental health system so other people don't have to go through what Lexi did.
Lexi’s father Chris Daken called it an emotional day.
“It's good to know that Lexi's voice is still out there and people are still thinking about her and her death wasn't necessarily in vain,” said Daken.
Rachel Ross-Hamilton was the other main co-organizer of the run. She said she wasn’t super close to Lexi, but seeing what her loss meant to others had a huge impact on her.
“Lujayn is one of my best friends and a lot of my other friends were very close to her and I've really seen how much that loss affected those friends and I'm really passionate about mental health. It's affected me a lot and I just wanted to help out the best I could,” said Ross-Hamilton.
Abuamer feels there has been a change in the way youth approach their mental health since Lexi’s death.
“Her story went viral, which was good, because it raised awareness a lot about youth mental health and people are now more aware but there's always room for improvement and that's why we're doing this,” said Abuamer.
After Lexi's death, her family called for better mental health services for youth in hopes that what happened to her wouldn't happen to anyone else.
Daken isn't sure if he's seen any improvements since his daughter's death.
“You hear stories of people getting service right away, then you hear stories of people still having to wait and not getting the call for mental health, so I hope there's been improvements, but I honestly can't say that there has,” said Daken.
There were around 150 participants Sunday, much more than what Daken was expecting. He says he was overwhelmed and touched by the turnout.
All proceeds from Sunday's 5K walk/run will go to the Capital Region Mental Health and Addictions organization.

Heavy (Pandora Hearts AU) - Oneshot
Summary: The railings were cold. His hands, nevertheless, still gripped them, like his narrow, meaningless life depended on it. He shook against them, a shudder running down his spine. A shiver, perhaps. He was too numb to know the difference.
-(late) fic for National Suicide Prevention Day-
Triggers Warnings: swearing, references to drug abuse/drinking/smoking, strong implications of death/suicide, a suicide attempt. if death/suicide is something that triggers you, i'd highly recommend not reading this fic.

Absolute Favorite Books I’d Recommend to Anyone
This is a list of my top-tier favorite books that I would recommend/talk about endlessly to pretty much anyone (in no particular order). I know people probably don’t care but I just like talking about books I love so here we are.
Beloved - Toni Morrison
~ Based off the real story of Margaret Garner, a slave woman who escaped slavery and when captured killed her child in order to prevent them from ever being enslaved again, Beloved tells the story of a mother named Sethe, born in slavery who eventually escaped and is haunted by the figurative demons of her trauma and the literal (arguably) ghost of her dead daughter, who she herself killed. It is an excellent exploration of the horrors of slavery and of the haunting legacy of the institution for those who were subjected to it.
Lolita - Vladimir Nabokov
~ If you’ve been on Tumblr for a while, you probably know what Lolita is. The story of the predatory Humbert Humbert who lusts after, rapes, and kidnaps the “nymphet” Dolores Haze. An excellent construction of how predators, unreliable narrators in their own right, hide behind fabrications, almost-believable excuses, and pretty words to make their actions seem maybe not so bad. In the words of the book itself, “You can always count on a murderer for a fancy prose style.”
Ulysses - James Joyce
~ Notoriously one of the most difficult books in the English language, Ulysses lifts its structure from Homer’s Odyssey to tell the story of a common man, Leopold Bloom, as he goes about his day. Yes, this book takes place over the course of only one day. We follow Bloom as well as Joyce’s literary counterpart Stephen Daedalus through their thoughts and actions, gathering details of their lives previous throughout. It’s a book that, in my own words, “is life”. It is sad, funny, strange, vulgar, disgusting, beautiful, revelatory, sensual, and nonsensical all at once. Joyce aimed to create a reflection of life through his stream-of-consciousness style which some people might find confusing, but I personally find absolutely beautiful and honest and realistic. The prose is also gorgeous, but that could be applied to everything Joyce wrote.
Wuthering Heights - Emily Bronte
~ The classic gothic book that tells the tale of Heathcliff and his ultimately destructive love of Catherine Earnshaw, whose eventual marriage to someone else and the general mistreatment of him by her family drives Heathcliff insane and he spends the rest of his life trying to take revenge by abusing and torturing the next Earnshaw and Linton (the family into which Catherine marries) generations. If I’m being honest, I like this book mostly because of how wild and dark it is, but the writing is also genius and beautiful. I think the book also carries an interesting view of the destructive nature of revenge, overzealous love, and othering.
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn - Betty Smith
~ A coming-of-age story at the turn of the century that tells the story of Francie Nolan, a young bookish girl growing up in a lower class family in New York City. It tells about her father’s struggles with alcoholism as well as her mother’s struggles to deal with that and at the same time raise Francie and her brother. Francie is confronted with a strange, uncertain world as a young girl, but tries to face it with bravery throughout childhood
Little Women - Louisa May Alcott
~ Another coming-of-age story, this time about four young sisters: Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy March. You are probably familiar with this book already; it’s had more movie adaptations then I can possibly remember off the top of my head. It’s the story of four sisters as they try to navigate growing up, love, and loss during the mid to late 1800s.
The Color Purple - Alice Walker
~ A novel that tells the story of Celie, a young black woman who is raped and then married young to a man who will go on to use and abuse her, through her letters to God. Throughout the novel she meets Shug Avery, a woman with whom she eventually falls in love and begins a relationship with. Through this and her eventual freedom from her abusive husband, she is able to gain at last her own sense of self and take back control over her life, a life no longer ruled by the abusive men around her.
The Bluest Eye - Toni Morrison
~ The tragic story of young black girl Pecola Breedlove, who wants nothing more than to have blonde hair and blue eyes just like the women she sees in the movies. Both a deconstruction of the whiteness of beauty standards as well as how these standards can utterly destroy vulnerable young girls, it is also an exploration of the people who allow these sorts of things to happen, including Pecola’s mother and father. The Bluest Eye, I think, showcases one of the aspects of Toni Morrison that I like the most, that I aspire to the most: her ability to enter the minds of all people, even people who you might despise at first. Her characters, especially Cholly in The Bluest Eye, are ones you might not entirely sympathize with, but they will always be ones you understand.
The Bell Jar - Sylvia Plath
~ Based off of the author’s own experiences as a young college student, The Bell Jar tells the story of Esther Greenwood, whose depression over her place as a woman in a patriarchal society as well as her inability to choose a life path for herself leads to a suicide attempt and a subsequent stay in a mental hospital. A very nuanced portrayal of mental illness, especially anxiety and depression, The Bell Jar is an extremely moving and relatable story for me and clearly is as well for others. It is a classic for a reason.
I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings - Maya Angelou
~ A memoir of Angelou’s childhood, this book tells the story of her experiences living as a black girl in the south with her grandmother and brother as well as her later years living with her mother. It also tells of how she was raped by her mother’s boyfriend when she was around eight or nine, and how she struggled to live with that and find her voice, both literally and figuratively. A wonderful book about overcoming struggles and the power of words and literature in such times.
Invisible Man - Ralph Ellison
~ Ellison’s novel tells the story of a young black man, never getting a name in the text, and his feelings of invisibility and his struggles to find a place in society to belong. His struggles only lead him further into despair, until he decides to “become invisible” as people seem not to see him as a person anyway. Invisible Man is an exploration of American mid-century racism and the isolation it causes to those subjected to it. Not only that, but it is surprisingly relevant to our times now, especially on the subject of police violence. (Personal anecdote: When I first read this book, when I got to the aforementioned police violence part it was right in the middle of the BLM resurgence last summer and I cried for a good twenty minutes while reading that chapter over how nothing had changed and it still hurts me to think about it. Embarrassingly, my dad walked in on me while I was crying, and I had to quickly explain it away.)
A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man - James Joyce
~ The title basically says it all lol. This book tells of the coming-of-age of Stephen Daedalus (the same one from the later-written Ulysses). His sensitive childhood, his awkward and lustful adolescence, his feelings of Irish nationality and Catholic guilt, and his struggles to fully realize himself, both as an artist and a human being. It is a very hopeful story, and one that I love mostly because I relate so much to Stephen Daedalus as an artist and as a person.
One Hundred Years of Solitude - Gabriel Garcia Marquez
~ A magical-realist intergenerational family drama, Marquez’s book traces the various lives and loves of the Buendia family over the course of (you guessed it!) one hundred years. A beautifully written, at times extremely emotionally moving and chilling masterpiece, Marquez in a way retells the history of Colombia, of its colonization and exploitation.
Anna Karenina - Leo Tolstoy
~ A classic Russian novel of society and love, Tolstoy tells the story of Anna Karenina, married, wealthy woman with a child she adores. However, she falls in love with another man, Count Vronsky, and comes to a tragic end for her love. The parallel story of the novel is that of Konstantin Levin, a wealthy landowner who also struggles to find fulfillment in his life and understand his place in society.
The Sound and the Fury - William Faulkner
~ A novel that features an entire family of unreliable narrators, The Sound and the Fury details the fall of a once-prominent southern Compson family and always-present place of the past. There are four different narratives: Benjy Compson, a mentally disabled man who is unsure of his surroundings and of time and only knows that he misses his older sister Caddy; Quintin Compson, the eldest son and a Harvard man both obsessed with his sister retaining her “purity” and the fact that she failed to do so and had a baby out of wedlock, going as far to claim it is his baby in an attempt to preserve something of the family reputation; Jason Compson, who is the caretaker of Caddy’s daughter and believes her to be going down her mother’s “sinful” path; and Dilsey, the black maid of the Compson’s who unlike the people she cares for is not weighed down by their history. The narratives take place in different time periods and is in a stream-of-consciousness style. It’s a deeply dark and disturbing novel about the haunting nature of the past, a common theme in Faulkner’s work (see Absalom, Absalom! for more of this).
Song of Solomon - Toni Morrison
~ It is the story of Milkman Dead, a young black man growing up in the south and his relationship with his very complicated family. To say anymore would be to spoil the novel, but I will say that it is an excellent book about family, self-fulfillment in a world that tries to deny you that, and, like The Bluest Eye, exhibits Morrison’s excellent character work.
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof - Tennessee Williams
~ A play which takes place on the patriarch of a family’s birthday in the oppressive heat of the midsummer south, Williams’ play explores lies, secrets, and how repression only results in anger, frustration, and sadness. It’s a tragic but brilliant play that I think was very ahead of its time. If you’ve read it (or do read it) then you know what I mean.
Giovanni’s Room - James Baldwin
~ This book tells the story of a young man and his love of another man named Giovanni while he is in Paris. It is a book about love, queer guilt, and has what I would call an ambiguous ending. There is uncertainty at the end, but there does seem to be some kind of acceptance. It is a bit of a coming-out story, but more than that it is a story of personal acceptance and at the same time a sad, tragic love story.
HERmione - H.D.
~ An underrated modernist masterpiece, HERmione is a somewhat fictionalized account of the author, Hilda Doolittle’s, experience as a young aspiring poet dating another poet (in real life Ezra Pound in this book named George Lowndes) who is a threat to her both physically and emotionally. It explores her own mental state, as she considers herself a failure and falls in love with a woman for the first time (Fayne Rabb in the book, Frances Gregg in real life).
To the Lighthouse - Virginia Woolf
~ People think about going to a lighthouse. They do not. A couple years and a war passes then they do. That may seem like a boring plot, and you may be right. However, To the Lighthouse is not much about plot. It is more about the inner lives of its characters, a family and their friends, on two different occasions of their lives: one before WWI and one after WWI. Woolf explores in this novel the trauma that results from such a massive loss of life and security. Not only that, she also explores the nature of art (especially in female artists) in the character of Lily Briscoe and her struggles to complete a painting. It’s a short novel, but it contains so much about life, love, and loss within these few pages.
The Heart is a Lonely Hunter - Carson McCullers
~ A southern gothic novel about isolation and loneliness in a small town. Every character has something to separate them from wider society, and often find solace and companionship in a deaf man, John Singer, who himself experiences a loneliness that they cannot understand. There are various forms of social isolation explored in this novel: by race, disability, age, gender, etc. A wonderful, heart-wrenching book about loneliness and the depths it can potentially drag people to.
The Waste Land - T.S. Eliot
~ A modernist masterpiece of a poem, Eliot describes feeling emptiness and isolation. The brilliance of it can only be shown by an excerpt:
“Your arms full, and your hair wet, I could not Speak, and my eyes failed, I was neither Living nor dead, and I knew nothing, Looking into the heart of light, the silence.”
“The river’s tent is broken: the last fingers of leaf Clutch and sink into the wet bank. The wind Crosses the brown land, unheard. The nymphs are departed. Sweet Thames, run softly, till I end my song. The river bears no empty bottles, sandwich papers, Silk handkerchiefs, cardboard boxes, cigarette ends Or other testimony of summer nights. The nymphs are departed. And their friends, the loitering heirs of city directors; Departed, have left no addresses. By the waters of Leman I sat down and wept . . . Sweet Thames, run softly till I end my song, Sweet Thames, run softly, for I speak not loud or long. But at my back in a cold blast I hear The rattle of the bones, and chuckle spread from ear to ear. “
(My personal favorite line from this poem is, “I will show you fear in a handful of dust.”)
The Trial - Franz Kafka
~ The protagonist of the novel, Josef K., wakes up one morning to find that he has been placed under arrest for reasons that are kept from him. Kafka creates throughout the novel a scathing satire of bureaucracy, as K. tries to find out more about his case, more about his trial, but only becomes more confused as he digs deeper. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to the world he lives in, and the more tries to explain it the further the more that proves to be the case. An excellently constructed novel and a great one to read if you would like to be depressed about the state of the world because, though Kafka’s work is a satire, like a lot of his other work, it manages to strike a strangely real note.
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead - Tom Stoppard
~ An absurdist play that is a retelling of Shakespeare’s Hamlet from the perspective of minor characters, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, who in the broad overview of the original play, do not matter. Throughout the play, they question their existence and the purpose of it and through that Stoppard dissects not only the absurdity of life, but how fiction and theater reflect that absurdity inadvertently.
As I Lay Dying - William Faulkner
~ The novel details the journey the Bundren family makes after the death of the family matriarch, Addie, to bury her. Each chapter offers a different narrative from the family members and those who surround them, revealing some ulterior motives to them “going to town” to bury Addie. The patriarch Anse desires a pair of false teeth, and the daughter Dewey Dell is pregnant and needs an abortion, as there is no way for her or her family to support it. It’s about the powerlessness of people in the impoverished south. The Bundrens are constantly subject to forces beyond their control, struggles which would be easily solved if they had the money to spare for it. There is more to the book, but that is my favorite reading of it, that of class. Faulkner’s ability to create distinct voices for every one of his characters shines through here.
And, last but not least:
The Collected Poems - Sylvia Plath
~ All the poems Plath wrote during her tragically short lifetime. The best way to demonstrate or summarize the book’s brilliance is just to show you. This is her poem “Edge”, which appears in the book:
“The woman is perfected.   Her dead Body wears the smile of accomplishment,   The illusion of a Greek necessity Flows in the scrolls of her toga,   Her bare Feet seem to be saying: We have come so far, it is over. Each dead child coiled, a white serpent,   One at each little Pitcher of milk, now empty.   She has folded Them back into her body as petals   Of a rose close when the garden Stiffens and odors bleed From the sweet, deep throats of the night flower. The moon has nothing to be sad about,   Staring from her hood of bone. She is used to this sort of thing. Her blacks crackle and drag.”
HOPE YOU ENJOYED! HAPPY READING TO ALL!
