Hey, I just saw your most recent post and am curious about the irrelevant part - what do you mean by the ''religions abstaining from pork because it was unsafe to eat at the time'' thing? I've never heard that before and I am genuinely intrigued to know about it.

Hi !! There's a lot of religious rituals and rules that people continue today out of tradition and respect that were started (or thought to have been started) for safety/health reasons, with one big one being how meat can be handled and what meat is safe to consume! Pork is the main one that I know of since I have some friends that keep kosher or only eat halal meats

Essentially, pigs are honestly pretty gross animals if you let them be. They're opportunistic omnivores, so they'll essentially eat whatever they can get their teeth on. That includes rotting/spoiled food, fecal matter, and even people if they sit still long enough. Pigs can also carry some gnarly diseases that can easily be passed on to people. It's why you'll often hear people refer to them as "unclean" in both a religious and hygienic sense, despite their cleanliness on the outside. You might not know what Trichinella parasites are, but if your cousin shits himself to death after eating porkchops, you're gonna assume that's a sign from someone above not to eat anymore pigs

We now have modern medicine, biologists, food scientists, meat storage/serving regulations, etc. etc. that have made the risk of catching anything from pork less than minimal as long as you store and cook it properly and there hasn't been a new outbreak of something. A lot of people keep the tradition out of respect for their ancestors/culture. A lot of people also keep it because they know that pigs are still kinda gross, even with modern interventions. I've met people that no longer follow pig-based rules at all, while others adjust it so they're only eating pork if they know where it came from and what that pig ate from birth to bacon

Basically, eating a pig before the creation of antibiotics and vaccines was the peak form of fucking around and finding out. Whether you found out because of salmonella or the wrath of every deity out there (or both!) is up to you

He blinked at the ensemble, and had to admit it looked great. A suit all sleek black with conservative but elegant silver embroidering, a violet necktie to match the usual button-down he'd worn before joining. Ichiya had put thought into this. The gesture was in earnest, he was sure, and the suit was definitely one of the nicer ones he'd seen even around the guild.

Maybe even a little too nice, for someone like him.

He could at least try it on, a part of him chided. Sounded an awful lot like someone he knew, too...

He stood in front of a mirror a few minutes later, looking it over and adjusting his (slightly lopsided) tie almost nervously(not that he'd ever admit to that). It wasn't exactly a profound way of describing this, but it was the only word he could think of where it (hopefully) wouldn't be taken as negative. It really wasn't that he disliked it at all -- quite the opposite. He just felt...out of place, looking at himself in it. He turned to the perfume mage, hands shoved into his pockets as was his habit recently when his heavy coat wasn't draped over his shoulders.

anyway my issue with a lot of other helpols (which just makes me avoid the larger community and do my own thing in my corner) is that a lot of them are recon (which is fine!!!) but i am inherently informal and weird as shit in my practice. i call hades and hestia my spiritual dad/mom, hermes gets donuts as offerings when i’m trying to get to class on time and avoid traffic, i once asked artemis to keep deer from jumping out in front of my car on a road trip home with an offering of granola/sports bars. when people get too formal with the gods and pull out the titles, i usually bail bc it makes me uncomfortable. my relationship with my deities is extremely deep and connected, and it’s not that people who have more formal relationships with them can’t also have those, but it’s that if i called hades “lord hades” with any seriousness, he’d hit me with a rock, basically.

i don’t judge other people for their practices or more formal relationships bc honestly, it’s between you and your gods, but like… my go-to offering is the pomegranate brookside dark chocolates, and yes. sometimes i eat them out of my offering dishes the next day.

Alright so it’s leaving bleeding territory’s “super powered evil side”

It’s often called “great ape form”(dragon ball) or “super saiyan” or much more fitting to it’s affects “Kratos Rage”. There’s no actual name it’s a (technical) memetic hazard and has a tendency to destroy it’s own record.

It’s a mixture of steroids and meth. Leading to a destruction of the mind, no feeling of pain, and super strength.

Yeah this shit is never done recreationally, it will get you shot even faster than meth. But some raiders give rations of it to parties as if even if the battle is lost you only need to sacrifice one man for a successful retreat(jacked methheads are hard to kill).

And even then it’s sometimes mixed with the active chemical in salvia just to make sure the trip is as unpleasant as possible.

“Destruction” was a proposed name however a lot of people just thought it was meth, and destruction sounded to up-ity, so it lost focus.

But that doesn’t change the fact, that anyone who has a thirst for knowledge of the natural, from generals to anthropologists prays it doesn’t get a cool name because *no one* wants junkies like the ones in parable of the sower.
