Am I the only one who thinks that the tradition of the inoshikacho is pointless because the boruto world is getting very modern lately...

I don't mean about the friendship it's about the recent inoshikacho has a lot of potential from the other sides of their parents ability that is so impactful for their development character.

I'm just tired of them only using their clans jutsu as if they have strict roles plus the others characters uses both jutsus from parents like sarada why the team 10 can't?

it's just a mess that their wasting it like I can image the clan seniors won't give them that freedom of opportunity, they need to improve in order for them to get stronger we can see them being left behind team 7.

Anyway, Sakura-in-Naruto's body is definitely the most useful of the three in terms of combat because her chakra control transfers. All three get to keep their ~experience~ in terms of combat and jutsu (so Sakura can still do medical jutsu, Sasuke can do low-power genjutsu but can't get Sakura's body to fire/lightning jutsu very easily, etc), but jutsu involving a nature transformation that they're not used to/their current body isn't aligned with takes some practice, and obviously Sasuke and Naruto aren't used to fighting without a magic eyeball or demon fox. (Sakura is also not used to fighting without her byakugou to fall back on, but this is much less of an immediate problem for her.)

Naruto tries to send Sakura to go collect the Toad summoning contract and learn the Rasengan from Jiraiya, but she finds him peeping on a bathhouse and flips her shit, and she doesn't get anything out of it.

Sakura: JUST TEACH ME THE RASENGAN YOURSELF Naruto: You can't just learn my signature technique without months of practice-- Sakura: (gets it in about three tries because of her chakra control + overall experience with nature transformation + Naruto's body's affinity for wind) Naruto: are you kidding me

Sasuke wants to go off to Do Something About Itachi immediately but he keeps pushing Sakura's body too far and collapsing. No, he will NOT stop trying; he knows this thing will get super tough eventually. Just.... eventually, okay??

They realize they can pre-empt a lot of bad plot stuff by hunting down Obito and Zetsu, and this leads to a lot of shenanigans like "Naruto collapses out after one (1) chidori even though he still has plenty of chakra, because Naruto is simply not used to having to do anything running on low and thinks he is dying" and "Sasuke remembers some Earth/Water techniques he copied in his previous life and can get Sakura's body to do them, but unfortunately he keeps forgetting he has noodle arms" and "Sakura in Naruto's body is a fucking beast in combat, but she lacks Naruto's charisma and therefore attempts to solve the Gaara problem by Murdering Him"

Orochimaru keeps showing up to try and mark Sasuke (Naruto) and all three just sort of treat him like an annoyance and it's hurting his feelings

Ok now I gotta know though. Can you keep a low voltage arc going between your fingers (thumb and forefinger maybe?) enough to mimic a taser? That could be incredibly useful for a low chakra technique or a non fatal tactic. If you used ninja wire you really could be a human taser... - @whotookmysenbon

...I think I should feel insulted that you don't remember the last time I demonstrated the use of low-voltage lightning chakra in my fingers.

I'm not sure I'd waste the chakra or hand signs on a non-lethal taze attack when there are plenty of knockout techniques in my taijutsu repetoire. Besides, holding it in my hand negates the range advantage that an actual taser is supposed to offer. And I already have a mid-ranged lightning jutsu in Beast Tracking Fang, so.

There's also a technique that I picked up in Wind Country years back that functions similarly— Lightning Release: Crackling Circuit. Runs a circular current low to the ground around the feet to shock enemies and knock them backwards at the same time. Nifty. Too bad lightning affinity is so rare in Konoha.

Kakashi doesn’t want to think about how his body seems to know the position it needs to be in before his mind catches up. Doesn’t want to think about how he knows how to angle his fingers up, protected by lightning as they are, to avoid many more major damage form the ribs. Doesn’t want to think about how familiar the final death throbs of a beating heart in his hand feel before it’s destroyed by his jutsu.

Sasuke and Kakashi: The Use of Chidori

I'm not talking about who/what they use Chidori on, or even how Sasuke invented many differently-shaped Chidori jutsus.

No, I'm talking about hand placement.

The first time we see Chidori is when Kakashi uses it on the later named Naruto Bridge during the wave arc.

(It looks like this in the anime as well.) And what I'd like to point out is the way the Chidori seems to center around the palm of his hand. His fingers are clearly set apart and bent inwards. This is probably because Kakashi derived the Chidori jutsu from the Rasengan, so they share a position and even the beginnings of a shape.

Though this image displays the Chidori with more of a lightning circle. It seems that mostly Kakashi uses the move to shove his hands and the Chidori into his opponent's chest.

Next, we see Sasuke using the Chidori. This is before and during the Chunnin Exam arc. He uses the same style as Kakashi: open palm, bent fingers.

However, in the Valley of the End fight 1, we see Sasuke using the Chidori a bit... differently, for the first time. (Please excuse the terrible manga scans lol, I had to screenshot them off someone else's post I found on google images bc I didn't have the manga handy.)

You can clearly see here how his hand is outstretched and his fingers are closed together. His hand positioning does resemble Kakashi's typical Chidori pose in the second scene, but I'm pretty sure he's blunting the Chidori. This allows him to use it somewhat like a blade, or at least with more flexibility than Kakashi, who kind of relies on being able to 'hole' his opponents. Sasuke does continue to summon, hold, and even move with his Chidori the same way that Kakashi does, but uses his sleeker blading technique when actually trying to hit someone/something.

I suppose in summary I guess I'd say that Sasuke improved upon Kakashi's base Chidori technique and also it's pretty cool to see a tangible, visual difference between the two.

Mei has two kekkei Genkai Lava & Boil Release

Mei is proficient in the nature transformations of Water, Fire, Earth, and Lightning Release

Her power was enough to force Sasuke Uchiha into a corner and injure him despite his usage of Susanoo. She has also shown some skill in taijutsu

Mei can also come up with strategic attacks on the spot. Databook

She has also shown some skill in taijutsu, being able to intercept Black Zetsu from attacking the daimyō with a single kick during the Fourth Shinobi World War.

Durability

She took a punch from Edo Madara’s Susanoo clones.

But given the state she was in, she was pretty messed up; (Most of the kage vs Madara fight was off-screen for the most part so idk how hits she took)

Ninjutsu

Lava style

It has no trouble melting chakra-based techniques, such as Susano’o.

The great amount of steam generated after the fluid strikes can serve as an effective smokescreen, allowing for a follow up attack while the enemy is distracted ch466

Boil release A significant amount of exposure was enough to partially melt  Susanoo ribcage.

She also has the ability to alter the potency and acidity of the mist created by her Boil Release techniques, and is apparently not affected by the mist herself.ch466

And even bypasses the Susano’s as Sasuke still got burned.

         Water Release, she can create a large torrent that can extinguish a powerful Fire style jutsu used by Madara and quickly use the same water to form a giant dragon. Mei can also use the Hidden in Mist Jutsu to obscure the movements of herself and her allies  ch563

she did far better then other shinobi on using water style against him (Although not the same size but similar to it.)

Two years after the Fourth Shinobi World War, her mastery  enabled her to successfully protect her village from the massive meteorites that had broken off from the falling Moon. (the last movie)

She lacks speed, defensive, durability feats and displayed extremely rare to none close to none taijutsu or physical skills (besides kicking BZ as far as I can remember). She's more exclusively about ninjutsu firepower.

I would love to see her navigate changing the ways of her village. Can’t recall if she and Ao face off with the Fourth Mizukage to fight him. But they did know he was controlled.

I wanna talk more about my DC x Naruto AU, so here's nothing.

•Jason, Cass, and Damian are the only members in the Batfam that can mold chakra.

•Jason is a descendant of the Uchihas from his father's side and Cass is a descendant of the Hyugas from her mom's side.

•Jason can use fire, water, lightning, and earth nature releases.

•Damian can use all five nature releases and yang release. He likes to use lightning release the most.

•Jason unlocked his Mangekyō Sharingan moments before his death.

•Once Jason came back to life, he swore to never use his MS abilities (until he found a way to get his EMS), due to him not wanting to go blind.

•Damian knows how to do the mystical palm technique. He told his mother that it was just in case he was in a dire situation, but in reality it was just in case he came across a wounded animal.

•When Jason was Robin, he tried to learn the mystical palm technique, but he just never got it right. He also tried again when he came back as Red Hood, but he still wasn't good at it.

•Anyone with a meta-gene, can do magic, or an aliens cannot mold chakra.

•Jason later gets his EMS from his father after he dies.

•Jason's right eye ability is a genjutsu called Kangiten, and his left eye is a lightning style ninjutsu called Raijin.

•The majority of people who know medical jutsu, usually become doctors or vets.

•Jason's susanoo is red.

•Cass doesn't use the eight trigrams, she could if she wanted, but she doesn't.

•Before Jason unlocked his MS, Bruce was resistant to his genjutsu.

was having a conversation with a mutual and it made me think of just how bland the fighting styles became in Shippuden. just to use Sasuke as an example, at the beginning we see so many transitions in Sasuke's fighting style changes as he gets older, particularly wrt his use of weapons throughout the show. like when we see flashbacks of him as a kid we always see him practicing with long-range weapons, his bow being the one that stands out the most? and throughout Naruto classic we see him handle various types of weapons and use them at long range, e.g. the iconic demon wind shuriken scene where we see Naruto & Sasuke work as a team for the first time.

after Kakashi teaches him the Chidori we see him start relying more on mid-/close-range attacks, and of course there's a bunch of possible explanations for that transition. the one that stands out to me the most is that as kid they don't have as good chakra control, so it's best to rely on long-range weapons if your main strength isn't like, taijutsu (rock lee) or something that requires close range (neji) and you don't know that many jutsu. so makes sense that he learns Chidori and starts going more close-range, and you can see he's looking for the tactical advantage depending who he's fighting, e.g. naruto and gaara he goes for close-range, and it also works very well narratively because these are both super emotionally charged battles

compare all of these to like, other fights that could have been super emotionally charged, too, and they mostly just. suck lol. sasuke kills the man who manipulated his brother into killing his entire clan and eternal exile and his teacher for the past three years with the same attack. all of the emotional tenor of his previous fights is gone. i want to believe it's intentional and tells us something about sasuke's character, but for the most part it just feels dull

last but not least I just wish we also got some more background on how his training with orochimaru went because maybe having more background on how Sasuke's weapon of choice becomes a mid-range sword and why he relies so strongly on lightning-style techniques (even more than fire, the trademark of the Uchiha) at the beginning of shippuden could have maybe made it more interesting. we just have no idea how this particular style developed, or why he's using it against specific characters. ok, rant over lol. guess i'll also call this a study on how to write good battle scenes/how not to write boring ones

Sasuke x Naruto's child already exist in Boruto

To everyone who wants Boruto x Sarada to be endgame, so that we can see the Naruto x Sasuke baby they always wanted... I have news for you, Boruto (himself) is the Naruto x Sasuke child you always wanted.

Boruto Uzumaki is born of Naruto, but he's been trained by Sasuke.

He looks like Naruto, but he dresses like Sasuke. He wears his shirt open, he wears the cloak, he even has Sasuke's headband and Katana.

He possess both Naruto and Sasuke's abilities. He can use multi shadow clone jutsu, rasengan, and wind release but he also has a ton of lightning based techniques that he uses in similar ways to Sasuke. An example, being when he enhanced his katana with purple lightning to sever the heads of Mitsuki's snakes. Boruto, also, has space-time ninjustu, visual eye powers, and much lower Chakra reserves than Naruto just like Sasuke.

His personality is a perfect mixture of Naruto's optimism and Sasuke's take no shit attitude.

He is functionally the son of Naruto x Sasuke, because he certainly isn't functionally the son of Naruto x Hinata.

He has none of Hinata's looks, style, or abilities.

A BoruSara child would functionally be redundant at this point.

Naruto AU Concept - Team 7 Role Switch

Naruto trains under Orochimaru, Sasuke under Tsunade and Sakura under Jiraiya.

Sasuke

Sasuke doesn't have Sakura's chakra control, but studying under Tsunade does improve it considerebly. Lets assume the theory of sharingan giving someone photographic memory. So while Sasuke can't perfrom medical technique that require perfect chakra control, then he has very vast medical knowlegde and becomes and expert in creating poisons and antidotes. The sharingan also allows him to examine people on cellular level, as well as studying their movements down to the slightest muscle twitch.

Besides medical things, Tsunade trains in him taijutsu and teaches him a few fire and lightning style teqniques, like body pathway derangement. Sasuke also creates variations of the chidori, like he did in canon. When Tsunade is too busy to train him, he practises taijutsu with Rock Lee and Neji, and starts learning fencing from Tenten. This forces him to become a little more social, and focusing on healing people does give him a purpose beyond revenge (though he doesn't give up on his quest for vengence). He also

Naruto

Naruto joins Orochimaru because he needs protection from the Akatsuki, and he doesn't want to endanger his friends, but he doesn't care about Orochimaru and his followers. Plus, Orochimaru promises to help him find a way to harness Kurama's chakra, without risking losing control or letting the fox free.

Orochimaru comes up the idea of using Naruto's shadow clones to learn multiple things at the same time (I personally never understood the logic of Naruto learning faster by having his clones practise the same thing simutaniously). So orochimaru teaches Naruto wind style, has him try (and fail) to tap into Kurama's chakra, trains him in taijutsu, shurekinjutsu and diversion tactics, and perhaps teach him a few sealing jutsus. In this version, Naruto never learned the Rasengan.

Sakura

With Sakura's chakra control, it makes sense for Jiraya to teach her the rasengan. Beside that he teaches her water or earth style, since naruto and sasuke have fire, lightning and wind respectively.).

Can we talk about the fact that Sasuke is only as good as he is because he put in hours and hours of work to get there? Besides learning Chidori from Kakashi and getting tutelage from Orochimaru (which probably mostly involved performance enhancing drugs, let's be real) he was on his own pretty much from the beginning. And yet he still managed to

Train himself to be able to move at near Rock Lee speed

Hold his own in a battle against one of the legendary Sanin using basic fire justu and weaponry (See Oro v. Sasuke, forest of death)

develop and perfect several different variations of Chidori

not to mention harnessing the power of actual lightning with Kirin

effectively kill one of the legendary Sanin

hold his own in a genjutsu battle against Itachi's mangekyou with regular sharingan

...and that's only the stuff I remember off the top of my head (which I've definitely missed a lot because it's been years since I've read the series)

I feel like we forget that while Itachi seemed to be easily able to learn new techniques and excel, Sasuke had to work hard to even begin to match that. It's heavily hinted in the story that when Itachi first learned fireball jutsu he got it near perfect in one try, while on the other hand Sasuke could only manage a less than satisfactory puff at first. But a short time later (too short for any real progress, according to Fugaku) Sasuke shows Fugaku again and has mastered the technique. impressively so.

I feel like from this we can gather that while Sasuke does have some natural affinity for competence, he's not innately blessed with the ability to excel in the way Itachi seems to have been. We continue to see throughout the series just how hard Sasuke is always pushing himself to stay on top. Every single thing Sasuke has mastered and is good at is because he put in the time to do it.

Yeah, he has the sharingan and that does help him. And yeah, his baseline of potential and ability is probably higher than a lot of the genin/other nin in Konoha--we know for a fact his chakra level is higher than the average genin--but that doesn't discount the sheer amount of effort he's had to put into everything to get as strong/proficient as he is.

Elemental Burst: Shadow Clone Jutsu - His pet fox Kurama transforms/shape-shifts into a clone and that allows Naruto to create two Rasen Shuriken attacks that would crowd control the enemies, apply Anemo damage and Swirl reaction all at the same time - a perfect support for Elemental Mastery.

Nation: Inazuma - belongs to the noble Uzumaki and Namikaze Clan; while his father is the noble Minato Namikaze, Naruto earned the last name of his mother because of his elemental powers that resemble maelstroms. Naruto has a pet fox who is a nine-tailed spirit called Kurama that tends to sit on his shoulder. He is the student of Hatake Kakashi, the former student of his father, and best friend of Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno.

Nation: Inazuma - The younger brother of Uchiha Itachi, who tries to be more involved with political affairs. He is the student of Kakashi Hatake, and best friend of Naruto Uzumaki of the Uzumaki Clan, and Sakura Haruno. Kakashi, who also has an Electro Vision, trains Sasuke personally to learn how to hone its powers and use them - hence his Elemental Skill is also Chidori.

Elemental Burst: Healing Resusciation - Sakura would punch the ground and summon Geo rocks that would surround the enemies, applying some Geo damage, buff the team's normal attacks while also healing the entire team.

Nation: Inazuma - Her best skills are taijutsu; Sakura managed to use her Vision to apply elemental damage while punching and kicking the enemies; she could punch the air and Geo rocks would be projected towards the opponent. She is the childhood best friend of Naruto and Sasuke, and also the student of Kakashi Hatake, who taught her how to master her Vision. She split off the team for a year in order to train under the Great Sage Tsunade Senju, the descendant of the Great Hashirama Senju, and rejoined her old team after her powers became potent.

Elemental Skill: Lightning Clone Technique: Raikiri

Elemental Burst: Hidden Art: Chidori Beast - large area of damage, and this technique is created by having his sword dissolve into lightning energy into his hands, then slamming his palms into the ground, summoning a wolf-like figure that would run around, striking the enemy within the premises, before engulfing the opponent, creating a lot of Electro damage.

Nation: Inazuma - Kakashi became the teacher of Minato's son, Naruto after the young boy grew up and received his Vision along with his two childhood friends, Sakura Haruno and Sasuke Uchiha. He taught them fighting skills and how to use their Vision, and trained them in working together as a team to create lethal damage with their elemental reactions. His influence rubbed off on Sasuke the most since they both have Electro Visions, and the two of them rotating together would apply fatal Electro damage as a mono Electro team.
