Top 7 Python Frameworks Which One You Should Choose-Connect Infosoft
Python is often recognised as one of the most user-friendly programming languages available. Furthermore, various Python development frameworks are available, allowing developers to work on projects of varying complexity while using the language.
Python frameworks make your life easier by providing a structure for application development, automating the implementation of standard solutions, and saving development time dramatically. This allows you to concentrate on the application logic rather than wasting time and energy on unimportant routine pieces.

Do you know what the other animals that were trapped in cages are? I think there's a zebra, gray wolf and honey badger but I'm not sure
I caught five unique animals in the passage, lemmie share all of my guesses;
Easy; giraffe! Though I wouldn't really describe them as "yellow," WC has a habit of "cartoonifying" certain popular animals so this is definitely a giraffe (such as the tongue-slinging frogs in ShadowClan, real frogs do not have chameleon tongues)

The next one, the zebra, is also pretty apparent;
For those who didn't know, zebras are smaller than domestic horses! That's correct!

The one that stumps me the most is definitely this "weaselbadger" animal, but I'm fairly certain it's a honey badger yeah.
As opposed to a European badger like the cats are used to, a honey badger would look a lot thinner and more "weasel-like." They also have a solid white stripe that separates their black bottoms from their ticked top-fur, and I can't think of any other animal that has a separated fur color in that way.

There's also a very large snake of some kind, "coiled" around a branch. So, something arboreal.
While it's definitely a constricting snake, there isn't enough description about its color or behavior to tell if it's a boa or a python, nor what species it is. Since the largest reptile Ivypool naturally encounters would be adders, I also can't say if the "snake bigger than she could ever imagine" is actually that big.
If I'm making a shot in the dark though, the "small eyes" would make me guess it's a particularly old reticulated python. They're also common pet snakes, so it wouldn't be out of place at a skeevy ""Animal Sanctuary"" like this book is portraying.

(SIDE NOTE; I am satisfied with the portrayal of this particular zoo, which is clearly in someone's backyard and made from ramshackle planks and chainlink. I stand firmly against broad, untargeted "zoo slander" but I think the team did a good job in portraying this place as some crank's private collection.)
This next one, the "furry dog," is described with shaggy fur around its neck and shoulders, and then explicitly called gray when it attacks the human. Simple; that is a gray wolf.
While it's definitely a wolf, I'd need to see them describe the howl to tell you if it's Eurasian or American. American wolves lean harder on the first syllable and the call is more "shouty", while Eurasian wolves have a longer, more "melodious" songlike howl.
As for the "mane," that's a trait wolves can have. Some have larger neck ruffs than others-- usually influenced by climate. I don't know enough about wolves to tell you if that's purely genetic, or if it's influenced by the fact this individual lives in a place where it needs to develop a particularly thick winter coat.

(Also, funfact; the extinct British wolf was actually one of the largest gray wolf subspecies ever known. RIP British wolves)
And, lastly, of course, is the Scottish Wildcat.
Exactly as the book goes on to describe, they have blunt, bushy tails, green eyes, and tabby coats. They look like very large domestic cats!

#Ivypool's heart spoilers#Ivypool's Heart#Also ngl every time they describe them talking like 'their mouths are full of rocks' I just imagine--#--it's because they're rudely describing a scottish accent lmao#Stalk Purr: `'ahjusdinnaeafwellbeeebeltasurveevonaroon''#Tumble Leap: ''aye. bawa'afaTooLeegspincharkitsyeken? Ahcouldnaelivewithmasal...''#Ivypool: ''omg... li'cherally incomprehensiboh''

introducing my ocs (finally)
i’ve posted them without context a lot so here is the overview 🔥🔥🔥
important background info: they all live in an underground city (literally) called safehaven. it’s a refuge for criminals and outcasts. there’s no real government, several groups have their own turf that they control
there’s not really any rules for like. species or powers or anything. i kind of just do whatever i want i fear
this is stryder, boss of a group called the serpents. youngest of three adopted kids, he inherited the job when their mother died. in a relationship with kestrel. don’t have any good recent art of it but he can transform, growing horns and extra eyes and claws. it can be on command or when he’s angry.
kestrel, stryder’s partner and part of the serpents’ medical team. she came from money on the surface, fleeing to safehaven after killing her husband. the serpents took her in and she fell in love with stryder. he calls her “songbird”. she can create wind, which goes out of control when she’s in distress. (part of how she got her scar- after the whole killing her husband thing, she panicked and the wind started up, which knocked over a candle and burned the whole house down. sad!)
hester, lead enforcer for the serpents and the middle child of the previous boss. she can see the future and has no control over when she gets visions. they don’t always come true, and sometimes she has a hard time telling the future from the present. hard to see in the headshot, but she doesn’t have arms. her bottom half is the tail/body of a reticulated python. best character to draw when anatomy is a nightmare
eden, a singer who works for the serpents. she tried to start a performing career on the surface but was cut short when she developed a… power? illness? no one is sure that caused flowers to grow out of her body. execs thought it would make her unmarketable and most people found it gross or scary. she came underground thinking the people there wouldn’t be put off by it, and was right. she performs in the bar stryder owns. technically she can control the thorny vines that grow out of her body, but it really hurts to do it.
melora, eden’s best friend and accompanying pianist. she used to be an assassin, but she really just wants to be able to focus on music now. she can manipulate gold (sorta like metalbending except just with gold) and would use her jewelry as weapons. technically she still can, she just tries to avoid it.
this is misha, a young thief. he and a few other street urchins tried to steal something from the serpents. only he and one other kid got caught. instead of punishing them, stryder saw their potential and now they’re both paid to do stealth work. misha has fairy ish wings. also he’s transgender. yay
rascal is the other kid who got caught with misha. except, they could’ve gotten away if they wanted to. they just didn’t want to leave misha behind. the two think of each other as siblings. despite being one of the youngest around, they’re the best when it comes to stealth and thievery. got the ears and tail of a raccoon. got a lot of scars from various scuffles, falls, other minor stuff.
anatole’s been in the group his whole life. his mom was a member and got killed in some fight. he really looks up to stryder. he’s probably the funniest guy around. he’s got a secret relationship with blair, a member of a rival group. he can also play bass (prefers upright but can do electric too) and plays with melora and eden sometimes. he’s basically a satyr but i don’t actually wanna use the word satyr yk
jasper is a mechanic. not technically a member of the serpents, but he works on their turf and does jobs for them. he’s got a few burns from various machines blowing up on him. it doesn’t happen as much anymore now that he’s a lot better at his work. he works on weapons sometimes. he’s got moth wings and antennae. he really likes olive but hasn’t done anything about it. tourmaline never lets him hear the end of it
tourmaline is jasper’s half sister. she’s a botanist and a gardener. she has a greenhouse which provides a lot of the food for the serpents and others in the area. she’s also got a few experiments going on in there. she’s good friends with olive and is completely not helpful to jasper about it
olive works in the serpents’ medical team. shes a bit odd. she says a lot of things that don’t make sense, usually just whatever thoughts float through her brain. think like. a calmer version of maddie hatter from ever after high. she doesn’t not like jasper back, she’s just never actually thought about it. romance just isn’t in her mind very often. she has feathery wings
esmeralda is the head of the serpents’ medical operations. she’s very serious, approaches everything with logic. she was really close with the previous boss. she taught kestrel everything she knows. she never really tells anyone how she got her scars, even hester and stryder have no idea. no one really pushes it. if i had an actual linear story she would probably die… very sad
julian is the bartender at stryder’s bar. he’s actually really powerful- he can shoot lightning out of the horn on his head. it’s hard to control though, it gave him his scar and killed someone close to him, so he tries not to use it. that’s why he’s a bartender and not an enforcer. he’s very pleasant, easy to talk to.
irene is the previous boss of the serpents. she adopted and raised avidor, hester, and stryder. she died peacefully of some illness and left the position to stryder. his snake tattoo is in honor of her, referencing her own face tattoo. she also had a pet ball python
ylva is a member of the blooddrops, a rival group to the serpents. she’s a bodyguard to the leader. she was the first person kestrel met when she came underground, and they’ve maintained a friendship where ylva provides insider intel. unfortunately for her, she’s in love with kestrel, who is not only taken, but uninterested in women anyways. she just has to keep herself useful. at least then she has an excuse to be around her.
bernadette is the leader of the blooddrops. she came from the surface after her wealthy husband left her and took their daughter with him. she’s the oldest of these characters and had the position even before irene rose up. in the same way stryder runs a bar on his turf, she has a brothel. it’s made her rich

raine is one of the girls at bernadette’s brothel. she isn’t very expressive and has a mean streak. she’s good friends with the others though. she keeps their secrets: she knows about ylva’s meetings with kestrel and blair’s relationship with anatole. she’s also a capable fighter and can create clouds which can rain and even produce lightning if she tries hard enough
blair is the most popular of bernadette’s girls. she has elegant wings that are too weak to actually fly. she’s generally very quiet and gloomy. she found anatole snooping around the place and really hit it off with him. they secretly meet whenever they can. i also want her to have a french accent even though france isn’t really a thing here
avidor is the eldest of irene’s adopted children. he’s ambitious and wants to create a real government for the city. that’s exactly why he wasn’t chosen as irene’s successor. she didn’t want him to abuse the position to gain too much power. he fought bitterly with stryder, which gave him his scars and left his right eye blind. now, he’s still trying to achieve his goal, having gained a small following.
carmine has lived in safehaven her whole life and never declared loyalty to any group. several years ago, she met stryder at the lowest point in his life, right after his mother’s death and his fight with avidor. they had an absolute dumpster fire of a relationship. she disappeared when she found out she was pregnant. she didn’t tell him. she knew trying to raise a kid in that situation would make for a horrible childhood. after leaving, she coincidentally ran into avidor, who offered help. her daughter grew up with him as a sort of father figure
beatrix is carmine and stryder’s aforementioned daughter. she sneaks off to fight in underground tournaments and is a reigning champion. her fighter persona is “beast”. stryder had no clue she existed until anatole admitted to attending a fight to make some cash off of the bets and noticed the resemblance. outside of the ring she’s super awkward and dresses like a school bully from a cartoon. like t shirt with a skull on it etc
bovie is a popular fighter and one of the only ones who’s come close to beating beatrix. when they aren’t actively beating each other up they’re actually good friends. she’s actually very sweet outside of the ring and balances out beatrix’s nervous energy. she is also transgender yahoo
pauline is a gun for hire. they work all over the city, traveling by motorcycle doing odd jobs wherever, whenever. they have pyrokinesis. also a really great cook and sometimes thinks about trying to open a restaurant instead
peaches is a freelance “doctor”. while he’s capable of genuinely helping a patient, he’s more likely to be hired by someone wanting him to torture someone. he’s got a weird kind of romance with pauline where he’ll patch them up after a bad job but he’s weird about it. also i named him five years ago . trust him with your vital organs !
#it rly took me like over 2 weeks to do this huh#some of them are severely underdeveloped im sorry…#the way stryder is mentioned in like half of the descriptions… no favoritism here no siree#okay time to tag all 24 of them#gg’s ocs#oc: stryder#oc: kestrel#oc: hester#oc: eden#oc: melora#oc: misha#oc: rascal#oc: anatole#oc: jasper#oc: tourmaline#oc: olive#oc: esmeralda#oc: julian#oc: irene#oc: ylva#oc: bernadette#oc: raine#oc: blair#oc: avidor#oc: carmine#oc: beatrix#oc: bovie#oc: pauline#oc: peaches#gg draws

Mercury
The Mercury debuted for the first time in 2742, intended as a replacement for the aging Wasps and Stingers in use by the Star League Defense Force. Hailed as the beginning of a new age in 'Mech design, the Mercury was faster and better-armed than its competition without sacrificing armor protection. It also featured an advancement in weapons installation, making use of a modular replacement system to allow for easier repairs. The ideal scout and raider, sales of the Mercury were limited exclusively to the SLDF. After the Amaris Civil War and the dissolution of the Star League, those SLDF units which still fielded the Mercury were either stationed on Terra or at the Graham IV factory, all of whom left with General Kerensky in the Exodus.
In the Succession Wars which followed, the Mercury factories were destroyed and the design teetered on the edge of the abyss. Of those SLDF units which stayed behind, the Third Regimental Combat Team had the highest concentration of the 'Mechs, with twelve Mercuries gathered together in the Eighth Recon Battalion; all of them were ultimately lost during fighting on Sendai in 2798. As the years wore on those desperate few Mercuries still clinging to existence were increasingly rebuilt in haphazard fashion with less advanced and more shoddy parts until they ceased to look quite like the noble 'Mechs they once were. In the end nothing could be done to stop the decline of the Mercury and it eventually became extinct in the Inner Sphere.
It was with some surprise that ComStar unveiled their Com Guards early in the thirty-first century, a brand-new military force fielding a number of extinct designs such as the Mercury. Precentor Martial Anastasius Focht even went so far as to restart three of the mothballed Mercury production lines on Terra to resume production of the original model. A new variant, the MCY-97, was unveiled in time to meet the Clan Invasion (the Clans had also preserved the Mercury, and indeed its revolutionary design was responsible for their development of the OmniMech). One of these lines was eventually turned over to making the Nexus (Star Python) in 3054 while the rest continued to produce so many Mercuries that the 'Mech's life was extended for several more years. This included the dark years of the Jihad, when the Word of Blake also used the Mercury to outfit their Militia.
The Mercury carries an assortment of energy weapons which helps to extend its endurance on long campaigns. The primary weapons are two Martell medium lasers in the right arm and left torso. The right arm laser's power supply is spread across the length of the whole arm with multiple redundant systems, while the torso-mounted laser is clustered tightly in one area to decrease the chance of a penetrative hit damaging the system. These are supported by two Hessen IX small lasers in the center torso and head and feature the revolutionary modular replacement system. Using 'plug and fight' technology, the lasers are bolted down and connected by wiring to the power feeds and cooling system in three places. If any part of the weapon is damaged or destroyed technicians can replace the entire system in minutes, cutting back countless man-hours of repair and maintenance.
The heart of the Mercury is its MASC system which, in combination with an LTV 160 fusion engine, allows for momentary bursts of speed up to 172 km/h. Though long-term use can damage the actuators, these bursts are often the difference between life and death in some cases. They also make up for the fact that the 'Mech lacks any jump jets, while three tons of ferro-fibrous armor gives it superior protection compared to other 20-ton 'Mechs.

Monday!
It's been a while since I've done one of these week-in-the-life posts (and I LOVE reading them from others), and it's a particularly stressful week where I'm trying to stay off social media for Reasons, so hey, let's do this again!
It's a busy day, but it starts relatively late - I don't have to leave for the office until 10AM. So, you may ask, why on earth do I set my alarm for 8:30? Is it because I have an elaborate morning routine? Is it so I can hit the gym and go for a jog? No, no, no, it's because I have a little cat who takes the alarm as her cue to cuddle and I don't want to disappoint her, so I inevitably spend half an hour hugging her like a purring teddy bear first thing in the morning before I get up.
I respond to some e-mails as I get ready and on the bus ride over - mostly prep for our department's holiday party (I'm in the band and we're trying to get as much practice in as possible), but also a little work getting supercomputer access restored for an undergrad research assistant, offering to write a letter of recommendation so my colleague doesn't have to (we both know the student well and said colleague is traveling across the country for a funeral on a redeye flight tonight...), reworking some elements of the rubric for the faculty search committee I'm on, and confirming a meeting with my grad student.
10:45 - I get to the office and go to make my usual mug of tea... and realize in the moment I close my office door that the keys are still inside. I get the hot water from the lounge and meander by the office, but nobody's there. Just as I'm about to work up the nerve to go interrupt a more senior professor's meeting to borrow his keys, one of the office staff walks by and is happy to open the door for me, phew.
11:00 - My most senior grad student is doing an internship in Colorado this quarter (it's the location he most wants to do a postdoc at as well!), and we've set up a call to catch up after a few weeks without chatting. It's a bit of an awkward chat because he wants to go to his second conference in two months, and I had to bring out the "well, um, this is a side project you're doing with someone else's research group and you may want to check with them about where the $2000+ for conference costs is coming from". I possibly have an avenue - I might ask him to just attend for a couple of days instead of the whole time, so I can use some funding from a different grant, but I'm hoping we can get some cost-sharing going here, or possibly the other professor he's working with can present his poster for him if need be. Still, his work's going great and I'm hoping we can get him to this conference! He finishes his PhD this year, and I can attest to how helpful conferences are for landing postdocs.
12:00 - Speaking of grants, I had a successful grant come through late last summer to study wildfire smoke dynamics with novel instrumentation (something new to me!), and the whole team is meeting up for the first time to talk logistics! I also have to teach real soon, so I'm only on for the first chunk of the call, but we get some of the plan set up. Looks like we'll be meeting at a NASA facility early next year to do some siting stuff prior to the first controlled burn. I genuinely have no idea what I'm doing on this project, apart from being willing to write a big chunk of the proposal, but it's a good time!
12:30 - Class time! This is my domain-specific intro-to-python class that I developed 5 years ago and have been iterating on ever since. It's going a lot smoother this week than last, and the students are pretty responsive to my jokes (priority #1, lbr) and seem to be following along quite well, judging by the handful of questions I get after class. Not a ton of technical issues today, either, which is a HUGE win over last week.
1:30 - Forecasting time! I'm once again part of our university team in a giant forecasting contest. While I'm decidedly average at it (usually around 250th out of 1000 participants), my grad student was #1 for a while there. We chat in broad terms about the next week of weather in our targeted forecasting region.
2:30 - Meeting with another graduate student! We talk about some of the researchers he reached out to after his first conference a couple weeks ago, and we're starting to narrow down a possible author list for his first paper. He's working on writing up the methods and data for that paper while he incorporates a few new datasets into his preestablished workflow. He's been doing really well! Being a dual-major in CS means his code is a heckuva lot more organized than most second-year grad students I've had.
3:30 - ...nothing??? I've decided to skip my usual seminar and postpone one undergraduate student research meeting this afternoon (the one currently locked out of the supercomputer he needs for his project) since I have a couple of grant proposals due very shortly. I head out to grab some teriyaki to bring back to my office for lunch/dinner, but the restaurant just has a big sign out front saying "closed for FIRE" so I opt to go across the street for some chicken katsu and boba tea instead. I approve the final budget (coming up on a million dollars, no pressure) and keep plugging away at the statement of work (which is basically "what are you going to do, in detail, with one million dollars over the next three years? please tell us in exactly 15 pages, not counting your 3-page bibliography and 6 appendices"). I even find a perfect paper to reference to discuss one of our theories! We've made it through one round of reviews with our pre-proposal, and man, we'd love to do this project - it would be myself, a colleague, and a postdoc looking at some really novel stuff in severe storm predictability over the next three years. I also get a little work done on the invited talk I'm giving to a student journal club tomorrow, and work on some more e-mails (trying to set up a meeting with a friend's graduate student to help her out with some methods she's using from an older paper of mine).
5:15 - One of my colleagues has retired this year and has a farewell song he wants to sing at our holiday party, which happens to be mostly voice & piano, so we agree to meet up before the main practice and go over it a couple times before the rest of the band shows up and he has to head out to dinner. I'm really sorry to see him leaving (although I know he's delighted to get to spend more time with his kids and grandkids) - he and his wife were extremely welcoming when I started here, and were so kind and supportive when Mom died. Just very touched that he reached out to me to play piano on this one. Tragically, though, whoever was supposed to bring in the keyboard hasn't left it in the practice room, so we'll have to wait and run through it with the rest of the band on Thursday. Instead, it's back to the office to get caught up on e-mail and try to slog through more of the grant application (all today's research and work has netted me... 1 page of writing, blah).
6:00 - The rest of the band shows up! We run three songs of our eight-song setlist, and I'm somehow now playing on 4/8 of them, despite there being five people signed up for keys. It's a good time, though!
8:00 - I make it home and give Clara a bunch of new toys that have arrived with her prescription food (one of which she licks for 15 minutes straight). Luckily, tomorrow's work schedule is much more chill!

calanthe looks pretty cool, you have more info about her?
Calanthe is a surviving basilisk adopted by Hunter and Willow in my WIP NextGen AU! Here's some quick information before I delve into that whole backstory: Name: Calanthe Species: Basilisk Pronouns: He/her Age: Roughly 14-16 Tracks: Potions and Plants primarily She was accidentally uncovered when Darius led a search party to clear out the old Emperor's Coven laboratory in search of lost information that they could record (with Hunter as a guide, since he knew where the labs were, and the basilisks were too afraid to go anywhere near the area). To everyone's surprise, Belos incubated another batch of basilisks after the first ones had escaped, but died before they could hatch. In the incubation process, without the proper care they needed, all other eggs died except for one: Calanthe. Hunter was the first to discover Calanthe, after being hit with intense memories of the lab and hallucinating. At least he thought he was hallucinating when a vision of himself appeared, turns out it was a basilisk moulding into his form. When he realised this was a physical being, he freaked out at first. Then he saw the black-rimmed blue eyes. The basilisk had imprinted on him, taking on his form as they may typically do as babies. It turned back into a small yellow python-patterned basilisk with blue eyes and light brown hair, to which Hunter and the group had taken it to the Healing Coven for inspection, and later Hunter and Willow had adopted the basilisk since 1. no one else could, and 2. it had already imprinted on them. In this AU, alongside primarily being a palisman carver, Hunter secondarily works with Darius to protect the Boiling Isles' children, creating better safety laws for all and putting more protection in place for the young ones. At the time he discovered and adopted Calanthe, Hunter would've probably been around 25 and was taking part as a student in a school that retaught important life lessons to those who didn't get to learn them. After finishing up with these classes, he transitioned to parenting schools in order to do his best for Calanthe. Willow is living the dream of leading the Emerald Entrails into constant victories, and reassures Hunter that he doesn't need to go to these schools, but he insists, as he absolutely despises the idea of becoming similar to Belos in any way. -Which Willow is actually quite proud of and inspired by.
Thanks to Willow and Hunter, Calanthe gets to live a perfectly normal and happy life, being able to embrace his basilisk side while being treated with the same love and normalcy that every child deserves. Calanthe has changed her appearance many times throughout her life, and still does till this very day, switching it up every now and then when she gets bored. Her primary/favourite appearance is taking inspiration from Willow's fringe, Hunter's face, and a mix between both of their body shapes. This is still a heavy WIP! However, some characters I am planning to add are: Luz + Amity's kids Boscha's child, possibly nonverbal Adrien Graye's neglected/forgotten daughter A Grudgby Team + Captain + Giving IV (now called Ivy) and III (now called Trip) more development and depth (the two basilisks seen in Watching and Dreaming) + King getting a MASSIVE growthspurt There will still be much more to come, once the ideas finally start to pop into my head. Hope this clears up some things! I'm happy you like her design, though it is still a WIP, such as everything else. I am still working on my Cinderkin AU too, in which I might make a 3rd AU combining these two for funsies at some point. It'd be sick to design Calanthe with Cinderkin features! :D

Devlog 2025-01-03 (What we've been cooking… Contains slightly nsfw images.)
2025 is going to be absolutely amazing!
You might have noticed that our pinups have been sporadic at best, which really sucks for everyone, and it's something that we're fixing. Hirodan, who has been drawing the last few pinups, is an amazing artist, but he, unfortunately (for us), got a full-time job which demands all of his time. (yay for Hirodan for getting the job!)
We've employed a new permanent artist who started on the 1st of January to help us create more characters for IF THEN ELSE, and one of their monthly assignments is to draw the pinups. (Franco has graciously allowed us to share some teasers of what you can expect from him going forward!) Besides Pinups and Character Asset packs, Franco will also be helping with some of our side projects, the first of many being a short game set in the Infinite Stars universe for the Sealed with a Kiss jam running this month. (We're excited for this one!)
(Some examples of what you can expect from our 2025 pinups!)
If that wasn't exciting enough, we are currently in the final stages of bringing an additional permanent (meaning not-a-freelancer) writer on board to focus on some of the side projects we have planned for 2025 and beyond.
I should probably stop while I'm ahead and stay quiet, but call it New Year excitement babbling: We are looking into expanding the team to include a permanent Python developer to help code all the cool ideas we have for Infinite Stars and the other planned side projects. This isn't official yet, and affordability will be the biggest deciding factor.
With the additional help, we aim to do four modest to large public Infinite Stars releases this year, so one release per quarter giving you more Infinite Stars goodness with less waiting in between. The season 1 wrap-up is on the horison. We still have a few more surprises in store, but I'm going to be lying if I said my mind doesn't wander off to plan and imagine content for season 2.
All of this costs money, quite a bit more than what we are pulling in from our amazing patrons right now. Luckily, I've built up a bit of savings from my day job, which I intend to push back into Infinite Stars as a calculated risk until it becomes self-sustaining again.
::Nervous chest breathing::
That being said, I'll need your help to get there. I'm willing to put my own money where my mouth is, and I hope the results will earn your enthusiasm and support. Patreon has been nagging me to update our Patron tiers, so if you have any ideas as to what would earn your buy-in on our journey, please be so kind to share them with me, no matter how silly or unrealistic they might seem to you. I've always loved doing the impossible, and maybe, together, we can get it done.
On to the actual reason you are here: News about the new Infinite Stars content. It's still cooking, unfortunately. The last internal word count on content not yet available in the public build was around 4x the length of Episode 1, with a bit more to go.
This will also be the first time you'll encounter a "wrong" decision that leads to a premature ending of the story. (It's clearly labelled, so there is no need to stress about it!)
It'll also introduce several new characters, most of them alien.
(A sharp-eyed theory crafter might notice one of these isn't like the others.)
It has quite a few new MC portraits that haven't been released yet.
As I've alluded to before in the past, it has some anxiety-inducing content that will probably top that scene near the end of Episode 3. I've also hinted at some twists and a few new things we're trying out... Honestly, I can't wait to share it with all of you, and I wish it was already ready.
Have a fantastic weekend. Be kind, be safe and remember to see the beauty in the small things that you might miss otherwise. <3

A guide to Glazing your art so that AI cannot take it without consent:
Now that tumblr is selling our works to midjourney, here's how to protect yourself. Quote:
Glaze is a system designed to protect human artists by disrupting style mimicry.
It was developed by the same team as Nightshade, a more extreme version that aims to poison datasets taken without consent.
Go to https://glaze.cs.uchicago.edu/ where the official program can be found under "Download Glaze".
Download the appropriate version
wherever your downloads are stored, go there and extract the .zip by right-clicking > extract all, or the button in the file explorer.
Important!! Inside the unzipped folder, check if any folders failed to unzip. This is a common error and glaze will give you an error if any folders remain unzipped!
Find Glaze.exe in your folder and double click to run it. (You can also pin it to start or your desktop for easy access. It doesn't appear in a list of recently installed programs because it's not an install.)
Their cute little UI will notify you that it's downloading resources for a few minutes.
Ready to go!
Select your image(s), settings and an output folder before you run it. (You can even select the same image multiple times if you want it to run a few times with different glazes.) Then Run Glaze.
(It will even kindly run on your graphics card if you have one.)
If any errors occur after clicking Glaze, the darker square will give you some python-related text saying what to do. This was extensively for the devs, do not be alarmed. Go back and check for unzipped folders inside the Glaze folder, that's usually the cause of every mistake.
Let it run for the estimated time. (don't close it before it's done, I've done that by accident lol). The image will just show up in your output folder when it's done.
Booyah! Art Glazed. Art from my art blog with no glaze, default glaze and high glaze:
It will look a bit like compression artifacts, but rather that than a huge watermark on my work.
addendum:
it takes a while to clear up its own cache. Just wait a bit before glazing again because it will take too much memory if you try again immediately.

Kate Hepburn
Designer and artist who worked for Spare Rib, the Monty Python team and Pink Floyd
In a career that spanned half a century, the graphic designer Kate Hepburn, who has died aged 77 of multiple system atrophy, displayed great versatility. While an artist aims to develop a distinctive and recognisable style, a designer must be able to alter their approach and technique according to the situation. Hepburn was adept at this, working in fields including leftwing causes, music, comedy and publishing.
In 1970, during Kate’s first year of study at Royal College of Art, London, her sister Alison married Terry Jones of the Monty Python team. This led to Kate working with Terry Gilliam on the animations that punctuated the television comedy series Monty Python’s Flying Circus; in particular he recalled her skill in drawing medieval figures. For The Brand New Monty Python Bok (1973), with its misspelled title, she designed a dust jacket smeared with fingerprints. Those who believed the jacket to be genuinely dirty could discard it – revealing the explicit mock-cover of Tits ’n Bums, “a Weekly Look at Church Architecture”.
The Python books co-designed by Hepburn show her brilliance at recreating anything, from the photo-love stories of girls’ comics, complete with deliberately abysmal picture quality, to classifieds to children’s books to Victorian play manuscripts. She would switch typesetting methods – Linotype for one pastiche, rub-down lettering for another – to achieve the authentic flavour.
In 1972, Hepburn joined the staff of the new feminist magazine Spare Rib. Its format and grid were worked out by Sally Doust, a co-designer. Hepburn’s first contribution was its logo, which the magazine’s co-founder Marsha Rowe said was made “with a mix of typeface and free hand. She designed ‘Spare’ in smaller type, jutting up against the ‘Rib’, the ‘ib’ sloping forward, with a jagged force, resonant of bone.” This reassured Rowe that her choice of title, initially a joke, was the right one. Rowe wanted to attract “women readers who were still nervous of Women’s Liberation”, and Hepburn understood that some camouflage was needed, believing that “the magazine’s design and choice of photos should look like other women’s magazines, only with different content”.
Hepburn left the magazine in January 1973, later telling Rowe that she had “begun to feel the strain of the contradiction in working for Monty Python, which still had an element of sexism, and for Spare Rib”.
In 1974, Hepburn began her occasional work for Pink Floyd. Before a tour of Japan, the drummer Nick Mason asked Hepburn to adapt Hokusai’s The Great Wave off Kanagawa for his drumkit. “I had the idea, but she picked it up and took it into a 3D world.” Of her oeuvre in general, Hepburn told me that there was a lot of pastiche. But pastiche is a craft in itself, and artworks such as Mason’s drumkit, which Hepburn painted by hand, went beyond pastiche – here, by reinventing a two-dimensional graphic as a sequence of three-dimensional cylinders sitting adjacent in space.
From 1975, Hepburn contributed cover and book designs to the leftwing publisher Pluto Press, often working through the night to meet deadlines. Her designs for editions of Pluto’s themed Big Red Diary show her skill in collaging images from disparate sources to create a dynamic, coherent whole.
In the 1980s, Hepburn’s work branched out into stage design, in collaboration with her then partner Mark Fisher. Her work for Jean-Michel Jarre’s 1981 tour of China featured banners printed using rudimentary Chinese printing, airbrushed posters on canvas and the cover of the consequent live album. This work earned her two D&AD awards.
Born in Blackheath, London, Kate was the daughter of Margaret (nee Hope) and James Telfer. After her parents separated, she lived with her mother in Hampstead. Margaret later married James Hepburn, whose RAF job required the family to move frequently. In 1960 they finally settled in Parliament Hill, London, where Kate attended Camden school for girls. There she adopted Hepburn’s name, thinking it a better one for an artist.
After a year at Bath Academy of Art, she enrolled in 1966 as a graphic design student at the Central School of Arts and Crafts (now part of the University of Arts London), where she received rigorous training in drawing layouts and type by hand: “You had to hand-rule the text with your Rapidograph pen, and trace 7-point type. It was a very lengthy process, devoted at times.” Making thumbnails and sketches had remained important throughout her career, as “a way of letting the client know that you hadn’t taken expensive decisions using actual materials. You were still drawing, still discussing with them.”
At Central, Hepburn began a relationship with fellow student Pearce Marchbank, whose pioneering work for underground magazines applied radical graphic techniques to politically radical content. Early in their careers both Hepburn and Marchbank had to find ways to achieve maximum visual impact with rudimentary means, for clients who had little money. After the couple separated, Marchbank’s technical knowhow remained a valuable resource. In 1987 they collaborated with Roger Waters on his album Radio K.A.O.S., a cover that converts Waters’ name and track titles to morse code. This needed only two inks and no images, contrasting with the extravagantly staged imagery used by other stadium acts at the time.
In later years Hepburn continued with her watercolour paintings, and screenprints of abstract designs conceived during her student days. Despite periods in which she worked in-house – notably at Wolff Olins brand consultancy – her calling was that of a freelance designer and artist whose vocabulary allows them to switch style to fit the circumstances.
She is survived by her daughter, Usha, her grandchildren, Maya and Manu, and her sisters, Alison and Harriet.

Research Gone Wrong
Fandom: Python (2000)
Pairings: Hinted/developing Anton Rudolph x reader
Word Count: 6,671
Warnings: Death, cursing
Author's Note: This is the longest thing single fic that I have written. If I had a nickle for herpetologists in a monster flick that I've written for, I'd have two. Which isn't a lot, but starts a collection. Gif made by me. Tagging: @slashingdisneypasta
Biogene. Just the name caused your hackles to rise and jump on the defensive. The company had screwed you and your research over several years ago, and it was a slight that would not and could not be forgiven. Not after three years of dedication to such an important project, only to have the entire thing yanked out from under your feet, your work butchered, and your reputation almost irreparable damaged.
So when the US military came knocking, with the promise of state of the art facilities, all the hands you could ask for, and more funding than any humble scientist could have wished for, well, it became rather difficult to turn down the offer. Not that you were entirely pleased with selling your soul to the government, but there weren't any offers coming in, and it was better than giving up on your passions. At least you hoped. For all of those things and that you wouldn't have to deal with the company that had nearly destroyed you ever again.
Only one end of those hopes had come true. Surprisingly, the government treated you well, and your colleagues were respectful of both you and your work. A little niche that you found comfort and a routine in that allowed enjoyment in both work and life.
Biogene came roaring back into your life due to one giant mistake on their end. Quite literally giant. Bart Parker, an agent with the NSA, had made the call, asking for your help. You knew him through one of your coworkers and had been friendly enough. The call was a surprise, though. He wouldn't explain much over the phone, just that something bad had happened involving Biogene, and your expertise was needed. None of that settled well for you, but you responded without question. Bart and the NSA weren't super involved when it came to you and your research that when he asked for your expertise, it had to be something significantly serious.
A little hustle was needed to be able to get over to the office, ending with you all but running up the stairs, taking them two at a time. It took you a second to get yourself together before entering the office. Bart looked up, shoulders closer to his ears and posture rigid. The typical easygoing smile was missing from his face.
“Is it that bad?”
“Don’t know just yet, but we have an entire team dead….” Huffing out a small sigh, you moved to settle into the desk across from him before he shook his head and motioned to the seat on his right.
“Where do I fit into this?”
“We’re about to find out the exact details now. Their scientist is on his way up.” Their scientist? Oh, shit. Rubbing your eyes, it took every ounce of willpower in your body to restrain a groan.
“None of this is helping me feel good about whatever mess you have pulled me into, Parker.” A noncommittal shrug was your answer. Settling into the seat, you took the file that was offered. There wasn't a whole lot of information that you could utilize. Whatever was being transported was supposedly massive. The research was interrupted when the door opened. The man who walked through the door was instantly recognizable.
Anton Rudolph. The older man had always been kind, patient, and more than willing to help when and where asked. He was one of the only scientists that you had respect for and had kept some sort of professional and somewhat non-professional bridge between since you had left. Nothing more than the occasional email mainly centered around whatever the latest research that had been published. Not anything that either of you were involved in, naturally. But, having a colleague in the field made it easier to discuss things. And well, maybe you had been the cliche when starting work at Biogene, harboring a small crush on the man. That was neither here nor there at the moment.
It was a relief seeing him walk through the door. At least you wouldn't be butting heads with some arrogant, stubborn asshole. He would be easy to work with, even if you didn't know what it was you were working on. He paused at the door when his eyes fell on you before a small smile appeared. Hopefully, he was having the same thoughts.
As he explained what really was aboard the plane, your heart leapt into your throat. Was that even possible? Were they entirely out of their minds? A snake that massive with those sorts of abilities would be nearly unstoppable. The words burned into your brain. A one hundred and twenty-nine foot all-terrain vehicle, capable of speeds exceeding fifty miles an hour, with skin that can deflect an antitank round, enhanced night vision, and a voracious appetite for human flesh. This was what happened when science got a little too ambitious, and humans didn't understand their limitations. A man made killing machine that was now on the loose and uncontrollable. And what the hell were you supposed to do about it? Bart had called you in on what felt like a suicide mission after Dr. Rudolph was done explaining everything.
Had he had a part in making this thing? Something of that nature wouldn't have evolved naturally. It could be played off as not man made all anyone wanted, but nature hadn't been playing in that sort of sandbox for ages. Quite literally. The last time something even close to that roamed the Earth? It would have been with the dinosaurs. And even then, to have so many components of different snakes and different abilities? Not a shot. Your head was spinning with the implications, not even jumping to how to kill it. It was the sole focus for Bart and the NSA team that had been assembled.
Naturally, Bart thought that it wasn’t the case of this time being as difficult to kill as the other man had made out, and enough firepower could end anything. He looked at you for some sort of backup, but all you could do was shake your head. Something more clever than bullets and rockets would need to be used to handle such a beast like this.
Hell, if half of what Anton had said was true, there was a chance that Bart was leading all his men into a slaughter. Anton realized that, and you realized that, but it seemed that Bart was too caught up in his mind to accept the true danger that he was getting ready to throw himself and his men into. Bravado was a massive downfall, and it was entirely possible that it would be the death of you all. Something that you would mention to him in private, so it didn’t seem like you were questioning his authority. Bart and his second in command slipped out of the room, but Anton stopped you with a gentle touch to your wrist before you could get out of the room yourself.
“You know what sort of problem this could be,” he murmured gently, as if he didn't want the others to hear. “I didn't expect to see a familiar face or someone that could understand the gravity of the situation.” They wouldn't, given they had left and were likely already attempting to figure out a plan of attack. Raising a hand, you scrubbed it over the side of your face. Each possible outcome kept playing over and over in your head.
“What were you guys thinking of transporting something like that?” He had the decency to look a little ashamed. “The insights and knowledge isn't worth all of this.”
“Coming from the scientist working for the government.” Yeah, that would have stung if you didn't have the high ground in this argument. “My research is now medical based. Trying to create not only an anti-venom but reversals for neurotoxins in general. I'm hardly sitting in the lab and creating hybrids that could wipe us all out in one fell swoop.” His shoulders fell some.
“It wasn’t entirely my idea. Once they heard, there wasn’t any backing out. And really, we should be trying to capture it. Think if the implications…”
“Arguing isn't going to get us anywhere, Dr. Rudolph. I need to speak with Agent Parker, and we have to get ready for whatever it is they are planning.” That seemed to be accepted with a small nod.
“Yes….of course.” He let go of your wrist, a hold that you hadn't realized he held. Thankfully, you had turned and headed to the door, not wanting to confront anything awkward about the whole moment. Focusing on getting Bart to listen to some sense of reason was the main priority, and you couldn't afford any distractions.
********
The talk with Bart had gone over like a lead balloon. Absolutely non-productive and counteracting the fact that he had brought you on to consult. Briefly, it caused you to wonder if this was how all scientists felt when dealing with the military and trying to warn of consequences that could not be seen by those focused on the short term without that specialized expertise. A fact that you lamented quietly to yourself rather than out loud. It seemed, though, that Anton sensed the frustration. He stuck close, making the occasion comment under his breath that had you less and less angry with him and his company.
Led down into the emergency water treatment facility or underground bunker as it really was, it was all you could do to bite your tongue and not let on that you still thought throwing all the fire power that they had at this snake was a bad idea. Well, not bad exactly. Just useless. Which, in the case of a ninety something foot apex predator, was a bad idea. That gut feeling that had never led you wrong before was ever present as you listened to them talk about the track and what they would use against the creature.
“This is a bad idea…” you murmured softly to the man standing beside you. It seemed that perhaps he was starting to understand the predicament that they were all in.
“I know, but what are we supposed to do?” A valid point. Your hands were tied. Crossing your arms over your chest and rocking on the balls of your feet, the same thoughts that had plagued you since the incident came to light kept tumbling around your head. Of course, his concern over it being a bad idea was still slightly different from yours. He did still want to save the snake for various research reasons. If it wasn't a giant killing machine, you may have been more apt to agree. But that was not the case. Bart had one thing right. This thing was going to kill and keep killing. The risk of the loss of life here did outweigh the potential of various research breakthroughs.
“We have to figure out some backup plan. There has to be some way that we can know for sure that the thing will die. There isn't any salvaging this or saving the specimen.” He hummed thoughtfully. “If firepower doesn't do it, and they are going to hit it hard, then there has to be some other method for us to cause harm and damage.” Drowning it was a possibility, but that would require something to be able to hold it under the water. Less likely a possible scenario than dying by gunfire. Chopping off its head wasn't exactly practical, either. It wasn't like you were dealing with anything that either of you had dealt with before. Half zoned out, focused on the thoughts swirling in your head, you missed the fact that the men were discussing just what they were throwing at the snake and the plan of moving in on it. Until Anton's voice rang out a little louder and asked about another heat signature on the map. Shifting closer, you took a look yourself. That didn’t seem right. There was one snake. There shouldn't have been two heat signatures. Could it have been shedding? Bart immediately passed it off as a radar echo. Still, it didn't sit right. It was too similar, looking to the signature for the snake.
“Are you suddenly having the same concerns that I am?” You glanced towards Anton. The other men had already moved to get everything together and ready as they were on a timetable. He seemed troubled. Maybe he was having the same thoughts that you were. But until he confirmed it, you wouldn't say it.
“It is rather suspicious.”
“If this thing is as intelligent as it appears to be, this could turn out worse than what we think. We have to let them know.”
“And if we are wrong, we risk putting them in the wrong place at the wrong time.” Just felt like the textbook definition of stuck between a rock and a hard place. If you were right and the snake was shedding and the second Heat Signature ended up being shed skin, then likely the snake will have moved by the time that the satellite passed over again and the men were in position. If you were wrong, and Bart was right, then Anton was also correct in stating that you could be putting the men in a bad position. There was no winning here. All you could do was inform part of your thoughts. He would have to make the call from there. None of this is what you had signed up for. You were beginning to regret agreeing to consult for Bart. Nothing good was going to come of this either way. And, you still didn't have a good idea of how to kill the snake. This wasn't the sort of situation that you could fly by the seam of your pants. But unfortunately, there wasn't any more time to plan. The men were getting ready to leave, and that meant you had to too.
You let Bart know your thoughts. It was the most that you could do. Though as before, he took it into consideration but continued to move forward with what he had planned. His reaction almost suggested that he felt like you were working against him and had decided to side with Dr Rudolph. His mind was set, and there was no changing it. You are along for the ride without a choice.
The men went from running around and were at the ready in the blink of an eye. And being the resident experts, both you and Anton were expected to be right out there with them. With no choice in the matter, you both were told to stick close to Bart. There was no room or allowance to stray far from him. For protection was how they framed it. A partial truth. They didn't want either of you to go off and do something stupid. A concern that would be unfounded. You did not have a death wish, and you were fairly certain that the other scientist didn't either. There were still no viable solutions to the problem at hand. Killing a snake that massive was no easy feat even if it was meant to be more or less indestructible.
“How did they manage to subdue it for capture?” The question slipped out without any thought. You hadn't meant to say it aloud just yet, but the thought occurred, and maybe that would provide a little insight on how to handle the situation. If it could be sedated, it could be killed. But that would likely require a lot of sedation. Gas preferably, so you didn’t need to get close. Suffocation would be one way to handle it. If you could entrap it somewhere long enough without it breaking out. You and Anton were stuck in the middle of the group of men, but they weren't paying close attention. It was pulled elsewhere, mainly focused on scanning the area for threats or potential sightings. Even if this snake had eaten a few people, it surely wouldn't have been enough for it to need to bask and digest.
“I'm sorry?” It seemed that he had been in his own thoughts as well.
“For transport. I imagine that the specimen was sedated. It had to be subdued to be able to be prepared for shipment and then for the journey itself. Clearly, it had not been sedate enough if it broke out. But something had to work, or it wouldn't be here. It would still be over in Asia.” Where it belonged. But you managed to bite your tongue and not add that little bit.
“I imagine with your run of the mill tranquilizers in extremely large doses. But it would have been easy to do that in the lab. It was likely under constant heavy sedation to be able to handle it properly.”
“Suffocating it would require trapping it in a space that it wouldn't be able to break out of, and frankly, that doesn't sound like a possibility. And we would need enough noxious fumes to do that job, which would put us all at risk of a rather gruesome and unpleasant death.” It felt like you were grasping at straws. There had to be something.
“No, but you might be onto something there. Do you know this area well?” Finally. You glanced towards him as you stepped over a log.
“Not extremely well but somewhat. What are you thinking?”
“Industrial complexes and plants. Are there any around?” It took a second, but you suddenly understood where he was going with it. It was risky leading the snake into town, but that might be the only way to stop it. Wracking your brain, you tried to think of anything that you had seen or driven by that could be of any use.
“I think there is a plating plant closer to the edge of town. There should be enough chemicals there that it could work. If we can manage to get it there and not send it right into town.”
The group came to a stop, and so did your discussion. Though the choppy, just hashed out plan continued to formulate in your mind. Chemicals didn't have to mean gas. Simply dumping chemicals on it wouldn't be enough. It would still need to be submerged to some degree.
Bart was radioing the team that was meant to be in a closer position, waiting on confirmation of a visual. And it seemed that he had it when he motioned for all the time to get ready. Shit. They were actually going to go through with this idiotic idea. Wincing, you reached up to cover your ears, knowing it was going to get very loud, very quickly. Anton followed suit. The signal was given, and almost immediately, it felt like you were in the middle of an action sequence in a movie. The thunderous roar of shells and gunfire consumed the area. Gone was the scent of nature. Replaced with burnt gunpowder and smoke. For a single second, it even felt like the ground shook beneath your feet. It felt like forever before things just stopped. The switch in sound was so abrupt. Even with covering your ears, they were left ringing with the seemingly devouring silence.
Cautiously, you removed your hands from their position clasped over your ears. Just as it had been feared, the men had unloaded everything on skin shed rather than the snake itself. Every muscle in your body felt tense. That thing was out here, with you, hungry and lying in wait. The order to fall back and take defensive positions was shouted out, but things quickly devolved into chaos with men dying left and right. Before you could truly comprehend what was going on, it was you, Bart, and Anton left in the small clearing.
“Stand very still. Do. Not. Move.” As if you needed to be told twice. The primal part of your brain was screaming run, danger, run. But running would be a death sentence. You couldn't outrun this beast. The python reared its head, appearing before Bart.
“Oh. Shit.” Descriptions did not do the creature justice. As terrifying as it sounded, it was even more so in person. People had designed this thing? What the fuck was wrong with your profession? The giant head crept closer to Bart and like an idiot, he was slowly raising his gun. Anton tried to dissuade him but it wasn’t any use. Before a round could be fired off, the tail of the python speared him through the chest. The sound that came from him was horrible and would haunt you for the rest of your life. Instantly, you squeezed your eyes closed, not wanting to witness the snake devour the man if that was where it was going. The thud of the body hitting the ground told you otherwise but you still couldn't open your eyes. If this was where you died, you could not bring yourself to watch it coming.
There were no further sounds. Hopefully, that meant that it had decided not to attack Anton. But that still left you. All but holding your breath, you waited. And waited. The heat coming from the behemoth was felt, meaning it’s massive head was right beside you. Was this how you died? Nothing came after several moments, and the heavy exhale from Anton meant that neither of you were dead. Slowly, you risked opening your eyes. The snake was gone. It was gone, and neither of you were dead. The thought repeated, barely able to believe that you had escaped with your life. You could hardly breathe before dropping to your knees, unable to process what had just happened. It was the closest that you had ever come to death. There was a quiet rustling behind you that had your heart back in your throat before a warm hand met your shoulder. Anton.
“We should move….” His voice sounded far off. Logically, you knew he was right, but every inch of your body felt like a lead weight, locked into place. Being around when that thing came back was not an option. So, you forced yourself to your feet. Both of you walked almost to the point of touch, stumbling your way towards the treatment facility. At least there was a chance of hiding within the structure. All plans from before went out the window. What were you supposed to do against a creature like that when it was only the two of you? Bile rose in the back of your throat, but a few steady breaths calmed it down.
There was no recollection of how you both ended up back underground. Anton had settled into a corner between some pipes while you paced back and forth, unable to stop the need for movement. It felt like if you did, everything was going to collapse. All of those worst-case scenarios that had been warned about seemed to come true in the blink of an eye. Powerless. You had all been utterly powerless to stop it. So many people were dead.
Your pacing only came to a pause when you caught sight of Anton holding something. Not something. A python. A young one by the looks of it. Even with the adrenaline that was still causing you to shake, you found yourself smiling and moving over to him. He blinked and seemed to come out of his own stupor for just a moment.
“I've raised her from a hatchling,” he offered softly.
“She's beautiful.” Despite everything that had happened and the fear that had seized you earlier, you could still see the beauty in the animals that had been the dedication of your life. He offered her up to you after a second, and with gentle hands, you took the juvenile python you had not realized he had. “What's her name?”
“Arabelle.”
“Beautiful name for a beautiful girl,” you offered, finding the moment of peace soothing. Looking at you, it was hard to imagine that there was a relation to the snake that had killed so many men. There was, of course. You knew that, logically and as a scientist. But that animal had been created in a lab, and while it shared some instincts, it wasn't the same creature. Her tail curled around your fingers, body balling up in a sign of comfort. She hardly seemed stressed after everything that you had all gone through.
“What a minute….you've had her with you this whole time?” He shrugged with a sheepish smile.
“She’s comfortable in my pocket. Favorite place for her to be.” Stoic little thing. Not even all that jostling, vibrations, and threat of a much larger snake seemed to have rattled her. A few silent moments passed, and attention for the both of you focused on the python in your hands. “You always had the sweetest snakes. I remember Cassie loving to just arm around an arm and stay there for as long as someone would let her.”
“You remember her?” He seemed surprised, the tone of his voice rising just enough to grab your attention away.
“Of course. She was a gorgeous little red coat morph. Always happy to be handled and, like I said, loved wrapping around an arm. Perfect girl for taking samples if needed or just a good cuddle when needed.”
“She was. She is one that I think I will always miss.”
“We have to do something, Anton.”
“I know.” Another lapse of silence. Eventually, you passed Arabelle back over to him before she was gently tucked back into his pocket. Rubbing your eyes, you tried to force yourself to focus on the plan that had been worked on before it all went to hell.
“Okay. So, what do we know? We know that it’s smart. Very damn smart. We know that firepower isn’t going to do anything to it. It moves fast. Real, god damn fast. So, you were thinking industrial plant. Drowning it in chemicals?”
“Something like that. I'm not sure how we would do it, though.” Before anything else could be said, two more bodies came stumbling into the room, catching the both of you off guard. They looked panicked. They had been outside, and only one thing in this area could cause panic like that. Hopefully, the snake hadn't followed them in. Guess you would be learning that soon enough. You and Anton were in a far better mindset to deal with them now than you were ten minutes ago. He was still a bit curled in on himself, and you were nearly pressed into his side, but your head felt significantly clearer, and from his responses to you, his head did as well. At this point, the more bodies, the better. Even if it was a risk to life. Maybe, just maybe you could all get out of this without losing anyone else.
You let Anton explain what it was they had encountered, all while you focused on where it could be led and how that could be done safely. A task that felt fruitless and pointless. But laying down to die simply was not an option.
You almost interjected yourself into the conversation when they were discussing the potential of it being a naturally evolved predator versus something made in a lab. Of course the man, John, was correct but it seemed that Anton was unwilling to admit to it, playing back over Kristin's claim that it could just be the next evolutionary step in some bigger natural scheme. It was best not to say anything. Implicating yourself could just lead to bigger problems down the road. If you survived.
“No, no. Leading it down here is a bad idea,” you finally offered when the hairbrained schemes started to be concocted. “Firepower isn't enough to kill it, and having it down here is a death trap for all of us. We need another way to kill it.”
“Well, what do you suggest?” Before anything else could be said, the sound of something moving around echoed out.
“Did you remember to lock the door?”
“Lock it? We didn’t even close it.” Shit. Anton grabbed a hold of your hand and yanked you back away from the door towards a corner. Kristin did something similar with John grabbed a piece of metal and hid behind the door. Whacking at it would just piss it off, but the distraction might be enough to flee. Waiting on bated breath, your eyes remained fixed to the door. As much as you did not want to see the snake again, there was no looking away.
Seconds felt like minutes before a woman, dressed in nothing but a towel, came stumbling through the doorway. A heavy breath escaped your lungs, your chest feeling like it was practically caving in with the force. John and Kristin seemed to know exactly who it was and immediately reacted to help.
“I don't know how many scares I can take,” you murmured softly to the man beside you. It took a second for you to realize that you were still holding his hand. You could feel some heat rising to your cheeks despite everything, and it took a few seconds for your body to respond to the demand that your brain made to release his hand. Thankfully, attention was placed on the woman who needed some help and back to the snake problem.
****************
John admitted that he worked at a plating plant. There would be enough chemicals there that could work in your favor. It was going to be a matter of leading the snake there and figuring out how to use them to your advantage. Apparently, the police that had been set up in the area were still present when the voice came over one of the radios. And he had a car. You could lure it to the plant somewhat safely then. At least, potentially out, run it if it came to that point. Kristin explained the situation as she seemed to know the guy and had the best chance of getting him to agree to the crazy scheme that had been thought up.
“We are only going to get one shot at this.”
“We better make it the best shot we have then.” There seemed to be a new resolve in his voice that hadn't been there before when talking about the snake. It seemed that he was finally fully on board with killing the snake. There wasn’t a single chance that there was any way to salvage and save it for future use. Maybe this would also make him see the light about Biogene. Just as it was making you reconsider your own position within research and the US military.
“We can't lead it into town and not have this work.” It was the best shot that would be given. You weren't foolish enough to think that you would get another chance or a better one at this point. “Whatever it takes, we have to kill it.”
“We will.” The other three seemed just as determined to see this to an end. They had lost someone, so it made sense that they wanted to see the snake dead. His hand found yours again, this time giving it a gentle squeeze. One that was meant to be comforting. And it was. This time, you didn’t bother to pull away, taking in what was freely being offered. There was no way of knowing if either of you were going to make it through this. “I know it hardly means much now, but for what it’s worth, I'm sorry. I could have tried to put a stop to all of this. I was too focused on the research and the implications of what could come from it. I didn't see the danger.”
“You're trying to make it right now. And that's what matters.” It was a shame that it took this much death and mortal danger to you all for him to see it, but there wasn’t anything to be done about that. Your focus and his had to be on the tasks at hand. Not the previous mistakes that had happened. “We do this, and it all ends. No one else gets hurt. No one else dies.” He nodded. It seemed that the other three were ready to go. It was now or never it seemed.
There was hardly enough for all of you in the cruiser. Theresa got the front seat of the car while you were squeezed between Anton and John, Kristin settled in his lap. The cop, Greg, didn't want to believe it at first. He listened and was willing to help since he thought something odd was happening. It wasn't until the snake rear its head behind the cruiser that he believed the whole thing.
“Jesus christ!” That was an appropriate reaction.
“Just keep driving!” The command slipped from you before you could help it. Slowing down meant death. You had to get to the plant. There was no other choice. Otherwise, not only would you all be dead, but the snake would have a clear shot right into the city and an all you can eat buffet.
It was a tense ten minutes, everyone glancing out the windows and seemingly waiting for the car to be taken out. If it wanted, the snake would have been able to bat aside the car as if it were a toy. The plant appearing in sight should have brought some sense of relief, but instead, it only worsened anticipation and nerves. This was it, now or never.
“Everyone remember the plan?” John was the one to speak up. He knew the layout of the plant, so he was going to have to be the mastermind. Unfortunately, that likely meant that he needed to be bait, too. A chorus of acknowledgment went up from everyone. “Good. Then let's make sure we kill this son of a bitch.” That was a sentiment that you could not have agreed with more. Stepping out of the car, you shared a look with everyone else in the group for just a moment before John began to direct everyone, leading the charge inside. His boss thought it was all a practical joke until there was a rumble from outside the building, and Greg issued a command with authority. That seemed to get everyone moving.
You and Anton were charged with making sure the snake entered the building. From there, the girls would distract him just long enough that John had time to finish setting up the trap.
“Be careful,” he murmured softly to you. The best that you can manage, you gave him a smile before leaning in and hugging him. There was a small sound of surprise before his arms wrapped around you in return. At least your last moments would be nice if they were indeed your last moments.
“You too.” He was the one to offer a smile this time. It seemed like there was something else that he wanted to say, but there wasn’t any more time. The bang against the wall beside you cut any further conversation short. You stepped back and moved towards the controls for the overhead door. Anton had volunteered to stand closer to the doorway so that the snake saw him. Some sort of redemption for allowing the snake to be brought over from Asia. There was no stopping the shake of your hands as you worked the controls, allowing the door to open, lifting upward, and allowing the beast entry.
In the blink of an eye, it was slithering inside and moving closer to Anton. Your stomach rolled, bile rising in the back of your throat. There was a second delay before he was taking off, and the snake was after him. Shit. Shit. Shit. Everything felt like a lead weight, all over, like after the first encounter with the python. Except this time, it was harder to move than before, maybe because you knew that there was a potential you were going to come across something you really did not want to see. But you had to. There was still a job to do, and the snake wasn’t dead.
You turned a corner and were yanked backward. Before any yelp could come, a hand was over your mouth. A hand. It wasn't the snake. You weren't about to die.
“Calm down.” That was Anton's voice. He had made it out of the chase alive. You all but collapsed back against his hold, wanting to sob in relief. But the sounds of metal smashing downward and the shouts of the other girls meant that you still had work to do. “Take a breath for me. We will check on them in a moment. Everything is going according to plan so far. If we move too quickly, we can cause a problem.” You did just that, sucking in a breath between your teeth now that his hand had been removed. He was right. Thankfully, he was thinking logically. Then John was shouting, but the shouting wasn't panicked sounding. No, he was grabbing its attention. This could be the end.
“Come on.” Grabbing a hold of his hand, you and Anton headed off quickly and as quietly as you could in the direction of the shouts.
You could see the snake hovering over the pool of chemicals, acid to be exact, but it wasn't in it. The head kept rearing and slamming down as if trying to get to someone. You moved at the same time Kristin appeared, heading for what looked like the control panel for the hydraulic arm that was over the snake and the pool of acid. She slammed her hand against the buttons while you were trying to figure out the panel so that the arm would move. It started to lower, pressing into the snake. John was yelling, and you didn't know if he had been bit or worse.
In what felt like minutes, but in reality was probably half a minute to forty-five seconds, the arm finally pressed down with enough force to send the sensitive underbelly of the snake right into the acid. It made a horrible hissing shriek sound as it reared up, head flailing as the acid ate away at its flesh. Soon enough, organs were slipping from the hole that had been created, and the snake fell over. Finally dead. It was over. Kristin instantly ran over to check on John, making sure that he was okay. You weren't planning on getting close to the thing, knowing the head was still a bit of a risk for a little while, dead or not.
“It's over….” Slumping back against the wall, you slid into a seated position, staring absently at the snake as the adrenaline finally started to slow down. Anton settled next to you, wrapping an arm around your shoulders. Nothing was said between the two of you as the three friends huddled around one another, hugging and feeling the same sense of relief that you were. Greg moved about, checking on each individual, his training kicking in. He knelt before the two of you.
“You guys okay? No injuries?”
“No, we're fine.” Anton answered before you could, though it hardly bothered you that he answered for you. Greg glanced at you as if wanting confirmation, which you gave with a nod. Leaning your head against Anton's shoulder, exhaustion washed over you in waves, and all you wanted to do was curl up and sleep. “Come on. Let's get out of here.” It didn't matter where. You were happy to leave the building and away from the scene.
“Yeah, yeah, that's a good idea.” A good rest was needed, and then you could both figure out what you were going to do from there. With your career and the man beside you, keeping you close with a warm, comforting touch.

Artificial intelligence is an important field, making it more innovative in every industry. In the blog, we will look career in Machine learning in the field of engineering.
What is Machine Learning Engineering?
Machine Learning engineer is a specialist who designs and builds AI models to make complex challenges easy. The role in this field merges data science and software engineering making both fields important in this field. The main role of a Machine learning engineer is to build and design software that can automate AI models. The demand for this field has grown in recent years. As Artificial intelligence is a driving force in our daily needs, it become important to run the AI in a clear and automated way.
A machine learning engineer creates systems that help computers to learn and make decisions, similar to human tasks like recognizing voices, identifying images, or predicting results. Not similar to regular programming, which follows strict rules, machine learning focuses on teaching computers to find patterns in data and improve their predictions over time.
Responsibility of a Machine Learning Engineer:
Collecting and Preparing Data
Machine learning needs a lot of data to work well. These engineers spend a lot of time finding and organizing data. That means looking for useful data sources and fixing any missing information. Good data preparation is essential because it sets the foundation for building successful models.
Building and Training Models
The main task of Machine learning engineer is creating models that learn from data. Using tools like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and many more, they build proper algorithms for specific tasks. Training a model is challenging and requires careful adjustments and monitoring to ensure it’s accurate and useful.
Checking Model Performance
When a model is trained, then it is important to check how well it works. Machine learning engineers use scores like accuracy to see model performance. They usually test the model with separate data to see how it performs in real-world situations and make improvements as needed.
Arranging and Maintaining the Model
After testing, ML engineers put the model into action so it can work with real-time data. They monitor the model to make sure it stays accurate over time, as data can change and affect results. Regular updates help keep the model effective.
Working with Other Teams
ML engineers often work closely with data scientists, software engineers, and experts in the field. This teamwork ensures that the machine learning solution fits the business goals and integrates smoothly with other systems.

Hockey AU Background Info and some character notes: @cthoniian
Parents: Rhaenyra Targaryen and Harwin Strong Siblings: Lucerys (Luke), Joffrey (Joff), Aegon, Viserys, Visenya Home Location: Los Angeles, California
Rhaenyra Targaryen was a child actress, pushed to be Hollywood Princess, until she turned 18, stunned the world at 19 by marrying her 24 year old bodyguard, Harwin Strong, and having her first kid (Jacaerys), less than a year later. 10 months after Jace, Luke is born, then 14 months later, Joff is born. 2 years after him, Aegon, then a year and a half later, Viserys, and, finally, a girl, Visenya, 2 years after Viserys. Rhaenyra still acts, and Harwin is still a bodyguard for celebrities, mostly for events. The kids, now mostly grown, have their own various pursuits. When he was young, Jace started watching hockey, and came up with this idea that he would be a hockey player. So they put him in skating lessons and hockey practice and he was good: fast, lithe, and a good shooter. He spent his entire childhood and teen years practicing and playing, getting noticed before he even turned 15. Drafted at 17, six months before his 18th birthday, to the team in LA [ Dragons ], he played for them for 5 seasons, traded midway through the 6th to [ Stormlords ] in Canada. Some other notes: He hates the cold, cannot stand it, despite playing a sport on ice (it's very different). On this new team is a player that he's had a pretty intense rivalry with (probably the only player he's ever actually fought on the ice, because he does try to avoid penalties and focus on scoring), which is Cregan Stark, who actually cut a month out of his season last year when a dirty check caused him to dislocate his elbow. Quickly they develop a friendship, which then very quickly devolves into a relationship (where they will eventually buy a house and have several pets).
Jace uses the name Jacaerys Targaryen professionally (Targaryen sounds cooler than Strong, and looks better on a jersey, sorry dad), but is often known by his nickname (Jace), or his last name. He doesn't use social media (he probably has a facebook page that's from high school that hasn't been updated in several years), but he does participate in team social media posts, because he's a popular player. Top 5 in points and goals every season since he was drafted. He does have Vermax (a reticulated python that he leaves at home until he finds a place in the cold North that he'd hate so much if it weren't for Cregan tbh). Start of this verse, Jace is 24, Luke 23, Joff 21 (almost 22), Aegon is 19, Viserys is 17, and Visenya is 14 (almost 15). The first three take after their dad, and the last three take after their mom in looks.
More TBA I just wanted to write out the Rhaewin bit mostly.
#verse / fire on the ice#[ listen rhaenyra just likes weird names ]#[ and i'm avoiding the inc*st things in modern aus as best as i can lmao ]#[ and i just like jace having all his siblings ]#[ and then i'm like dumb as fuck about other things lmao ]#[ can y'all tell i've thought of noTHING ELSE IN DAYS ]
