Labs together. Because YES, as a sign of redemption, Bill works at J.C. Valley alongside the other (same for Sofia and Ryan who were hired again for the same reasons as Bill).).).
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bill was born in 1966 in an unknown city from North America. They were raised by their mother Frannie far away from Blood Edward Island as she considers it a cursed place since many members of her family had died there. However, Bill was supposed to be born at the beginning of the year 1967, but they end up being born the very last day of 1966.
Despite his descend into depression and madness, Frannie still gave Bill her father's name as a second name because he was an amazing father nonetheless before World War II. Therefore their full name is Bill Henry Edward.
Their father supposedly abandoned them at a very young age, presumably because he wanted to have a girl. When Bill identified themselves as Gender Neutral, they went to see their father, but he rejected his child once more. Bill seemingly never saw their father ever again after that.
They may have not shown it that much, but they loved their mother deeply. Having lost her left them a huge scar on their heart. One of the main reasons why Ryan managed to get them more easily, and manipulate them into murdering Sayoko (their mixed feeling of love and hate towards Sayoko was obviously a great help too).
When they were 18, they wanted to do a gap year abroad, so they go to England (Galar), which is where their father comes from. When their mother died, they went back to the United States, which means they stayed for about 10 years in England.
Someone from England may be related to Bill. Who knows ? (well me I guess...)
Bill always had a crush on Sayoko, and it is highly suspected that they used to sleep together before Sayoko will fall in love with Richard and married him. They loved Sayoko so much that when they pretend to be Richard Robbins, Ashley's father, they got into the game and really believed they were her father for a moment. (Honestly though, they look more like her father than her ACTUAL father OMG !)
Tumblr media
Why do I keep on making that xD
The combination of their mother's death and being rejected by Sayoko was the perfect opportunity for Ryan to manipulate them into murdering Sayoko. That wasn't before Bill told Ryan the truth about his past (Judd being his father and erasing his painful memories of his mother, being a test subject, etc...)
Bill trusted the young Ryan and never really considers Ryan as an ennemy and never felt hatred towards him. The main reason is because they never knew Ryan manipulated them before (probably because they were so young back then).
They didn't actually die after falling off in Blood Edward Island, but their body was badly injured. And more importantly, their right arm was pierced by sharp reefs, leaving them in horrible pain and stuck down there.
They will eventually be found by Ryan who was wondering why they didn't came back from the island. He would look everywhere only to find Bill at the bottom of the cliff, unconscious and bleeding out. Their body were in severe hypothermia and they stayed in a coma for around 2 years (the gap between Another Code Two Memories (Trace Memory) and Another Code R : A Journey Into Lost Memories).
Ryan was regretful of his actions towards Bill as he realized he used them as a tool when he was actually in love with him. He didn't realized it before because he couldn't feel any emotions after his father's experiments on him when back when he was a child. He stayed by Bill's side when they were in a coma, praying for them to keep fighting and coming back to him. Ryan wanted to atone for his sins towards the only one that was bold enough to tell him the truth about his past.
However, as Ryan has stated to Ashley back in the small island at Lake Juliet, Ryan will disappear when the water will naturally purify soon enough. Bill, who was barely recovering and did not wanted Ryan to disappear right as they were becoming a couple, decided to find a way to make Ryan stay no matter what. They will eventually find a way to actually make Ryan immortal, but not without having to "rewrite" everything so Ryan could stay forever with them. This "rewritting" ended up linking the two together until the very end, which may never happen as they therefore are both immortals now (at least for aging. Let's make it clear though : they will look "older", but not that much older. And they can still die for multiple reasons). This link with seemingly "liquid memory" made Bill's left turn more bluish. Thankfully though, his "veins" did not turn blue, as they were starting to become when "rewritting" everything.
Ryan will be there for Bill's rehabilitation. They needed a long time to be able to walk again properly and even do any moves at first (the combination of falling and hypothermia is definitely a hard-to-handle situation and a really painful healing process, isn't it ?). However, to be able to move freely, Bill now had to wear orthosis/splints in their legs, otherwise the pain will strike back and it could even paralyze them. Bill and Ryan will eventually end up together and will live together at Blood Edward Island. They will slowly but surely rebuilt the mansion as it was back in the days.
Before the doctors had to remove Bill's right arm, they were sometimes recoiling after they touched some of the furnitures with the golden bird designs, as if they were electrocuted on their arm. It is most likely linked to their grandfather Henry who lost his right arm in World War II.
Jessica will eventually join them, despite Bill having knocked her unconscious and havind drugged her back in the events of Blood Edward Island. She had a crush on Bill ever since they worked together at MJ Labs after all... Perhaps Stockolm Syndrome ?
This is thanks to Jessica that Bill will eventually get along again with Richard. But they will absolutely love to tease Richard from time to time. They will also get along better with Ashley as, deep down, they loved her almost like a daughter.
They are actually a good singer, a great dancer and an amazing cook. They learned all of these from their mother Frannie. They are also playing various music instruments, one of them being their mother's signature instrument : the piano. They are also pretty good at drawing and writing, but mostly drawing. They inherited this talent for their grandfather Henry who was a painter, and from their great uncle Thomas, who was a writer.
After the events of Another Code R : A Journey Into Lost Memories, Bill, alongside Ashley, Jessica and Ryan, will be gifted an Element of Harmony each : Strength, Empathy, Mercy and Alchemy respectively. Bill's Element is a Golden and a Silver Bird (referencing the Edwards' legacy) and is located in his right shoulder when he wears it. As the Element of Strength, this Element gave them a specific arm replacing their lost one, with electricity running through it (another reference), being Golden. Their armor is mostly Golden, Silver and Red.
Before Jessica joined them, Bill and Ryan had a daughter named Harmonia Edward Fitzgerald. She is Bill's precious baby jewel.
When Jessica will join them, they will all together had triplet children, with 2 sons named Crimson Gray Edward and Ayden Edward ("Ay" meaning "Moon" in Turkish, a reference to Sayoko giving "Mizuki" for a second name to Ashley, also meaning "Moon", but in Japanese. Let's not forget that they regret killing Sayoko and still loved her after all), as well as a daughter named Licilla Edward Robbins. Ayden is the older triplet, Crimson in the middle, and Licilla is the youngest.

🎃 Tales of Terror 🎃
[M.B. is my Cadetsona OC, M.J. belongs to @sleepy-heads-blog, Sean and Nyarly belong to @drusb]
---
[Sitting inside a large, makeshift tent, decorated with twinkling lights and soft blankets, M.B., Geek, and M.J. are taking turns telling scary stories for a Halloween-themed sleepover party.]
M.J.: "... and then, when the candles flickered out, there in the darkness appeared the skinless man, crying out, 'Flesh! My flesh! Give me my flesh!'"
[Ending his story, M.J. pauses in his dramatic pose. Geek and M.B. applaud and he bows.]
M.B.: "Wow, lil' dude, I'm impressed! Did you make that up all by yourself?"
M.J.: "Eh... sorta."
Geek: "Of course he didn't. He got that from one of his comics."
[M.J. sticks his tongue out mockingly at Geek. Geek does the same back.]
M.B.: "Either way, it was pretty good."
M.J.: "Your illusions helped make it even scarier. It's like watching our own movies!"
[M.B. swirls her hands, playing with the magical aura that surrounds them.]
M.B.: "I figured it would be a lot of interesting. Plus, I'm a bit of a visual person myself."
Geek: "Alright, M.J.'s had his turn. Now, it's yours, M.B."
M.J.: "Oooh, I know she's got something truly awesome to tell!"
M.B.: "Alright, the story I'm going to tell you is actually one of my own works. I wrote it years ago, but I don't know a lot of it. So, I'll be making stuff up as I go. Okay, here it goes."
[M.B. gathers her hands together and raises them up, projecting another "screen" for Geek and M.J. to watch. M.B. begins her tale.]
M.B.: "A long time ago, there was once a beautiful maiden who lived in a far away country. She was not only beautiful, but she was the most gorgeous woman in her town. People would flaunt to her - friends, family, travelers - to visit her. As much as she adored the attention, it was the suitors she could not handle. Every time a man would meet her, she would dismiss them, for she believed that no one could ever deserve her. The maiden was vain and prideful, not just for her looks but also her upper class status. She would mock the suitors, insult them in every way. To her, she deserves the creme de la creme of life's luxuries and privileges, including partners. One day, the country was swept up by a sudden plague and many lives were taken. The people pleaded for aid to the maiden, but she refused, for she realized that six of her suitors were the ones who were suffering. And so, one by one, they all met a grotesque and grisly fate. When the plague passed, a foreign visitor came into the country. The visitor was a very handsome gentleman, dressed in black, from the same upper class as the maiden was. He was a musician - an opera singer - and the maiden immediately became enamored. Soon, the maiden and the musician grew fond of each other and, at long last, a romance had blossomed. They were so in love with each other that they soon got married. But the maiden's joy was short-lived. After their wedding day, the musician had a surprise for his new wife. He told her to wait for him by their wedding bed, for he had planned something very special for her. She complies, and when she does, darkness suddenly surrounded her. Frightened, she went to open the door, but it was locked! She then went to open the balcony door to escape the dark. Instead of an escape, she is met by a tall, white skeleton, serenading a haunting melody. Surrounding him were six, plague-ridden suitors, all staring down at her with empty eye sockets. She soon realized that she had married Death himself. Death, dressed in black, announced to her that he had come to avenge the souls she had left behind. He places her on the wedding bed and allowed each tortured suitor to take what they find most beautiful. The first took her hands, for he loved how they would gracefully weave and play the harp. The second took her scalp and hair, for he loved how golden it would become under the sunlight. The third took her legs, for he loved seeing her dance. The fourth took her flesh, for he loved how soft and flawless it looked. The fifth took her eyes, for he loved how they would glisten like precious diamonds. The sixth took her heart, for he loved to one day cherish her as his bride for all his days. When morning came, all was left was a mutilated corpse, put on display on the balcony for the whole country to see."
[M.B. ends her story with a ghastly image of the maiden's corpse on the projected screen. She lets it stay still for a moment. Geek and M.J. watch silently. Then the corpse jumps at them, letting out an agonizing, blood-curdling scream. Geek and M.J. jolt back with a yelp. Then the lights suddenly go out! Everyone panics until the lights flicker back on. Laughter erupts from outside their tent. M.J. unfolds the entrance to find Sean and Nyarly laughing at them.]
M.J.: *slightly annoyed* "Uncle Sean! Uncle Nyarly!"
Sean: *mockingly* "Ha ha, gotcha!"
Nyarly: "It was his idea!"
Geek: "How long were you two out there?"
Nyarly: "Oh, for a good few minutes."
Sean: "Yeah, we were just listening in on the story. A woman who gets her body parts taken by the dead? That's kinda sick."
M.B.: "It's an old story of mine. Did kinda change a lot of stuff though."
Geek: "How do you come up with stuff like that?"
M.B.: "Mortal Kombat, slasher films, Crypt TV, and also some history lessons. You know, that kind of stuff."
Nyarly: "Well, I hope you guys are finished, because we just made some Rice Krispy S'mores! Don't wanna waste any of them, so help yourselves."
[Geek and M.J. climb out of the tent and M.B. follows behind to the kitchen.]
M.J.: "Hey, Miss M.B.? I don't know if this is intentional, but I've noticed a bit of a theme to your stories."
M.B.: "Hm?"
M.J.: "Well, they're very romantic. Despite having some scary stuff in them, they all have this very... um... well, romantic vibe to them."
M.B.: "Well, admittedly, it is kinda on brand with what I'm into. I mean, hell, I like to watch Dracula films, listening to love songs written by London After Midnight and The Mission, and my favorite fairy tale is Beauty and the Beast."
Geek: "Wow, how very Goth of you, M.B. Does this also mean you like blood red roses too?"
M.B.: "Come on, Geek, I'm not that predictab-- oh fine, yes, I do." *jokingly* "To add to that, I also like long walks in the graveyard."
Geek: "Mm-hm, I thought so."
M.J.: "Sure, it's predictable, but it's pretty cool! It's not every day we get to meet someone like you. And that's coming from someone who has an eldritch being as an uncle."
M.B.: *chuckles and pats his head* "Thanks, lil dude."

*slides you 20 in Monopoly money* could i get ummmmmmmmmutual pining Logince?
*Woosh* I'm here! And by goodness, this got long. *passes back the twenty* Keep it.
Word Count: 805
Warnings: Brief food mentions throughout; Virgil's basically acting as a camera for the reader; implication of hickeys but not directly mentioned; [Let me know if I missed any!]
Pairings: Pinning then romantic logince (duh); platonic prinxiety; platonic analogical; background platonic anxceit (I guess)
Notes (Wyn ranting about characters): Deceit is mentioned, he's Virgil's flatmate. Roman is POC!! He has a medium brown skin tone with black hair, the tips of his hair dyed a light blue. Also you can tear red head Logan from my cold dead hands, it's an amazing concept. And Virgil's blonde because that is another wonderful concept.
~~~~~♡~~~~~
Virgil snickered, trying so hard to hold back his laugh, but miserably failing upon seeing Roman's flustered face.
   "It's not funny," The hopeless young adult pouted childishly, blue tipped locks falling as he over dramatically crossed his arms with a huff. He'd just told Virgil how he'd given Logan, someone in their shared English class (and also Roman's crush since May two years ago), a jello cup to the face at lunch.
   "Ro," Virgil began, still giggling as he tied unruly blonde hair out of his face. "It's really funny." Roman only groaned and laid down on the couch.
   "What's going on in here?"
   Virgil waved. "Hey M.J.," He laughed even more at the sigh he received in response, that was followed by the statement that they were going to have rice and soup for dinner. Roman turned to Virgil, face riddled with confusion.
   "What does that stand for? His name's literally Deceit," He pointed out, sticking a dark arm in the direction of where the lighter toned one went to his room, for emphasis.
   "Mayonnaise Jam," Virgil grinned, once again laughing, this time at the inside joke rather than Roman's absolutely amazing dexterity with balancing food and watching his step.
   "Right," Roman chuckled, though left with more questions than answers. "So do you think I'd ever have a chance with him after today?"
   "No."
   Virgil rolled his eyes. "Come on, L."
   "Absolutely not. I am going to stay here, on this bean bag chair-" The specced redhead gestured to the blue bean bag, one hand holding a bouquet of blue lilacs and pink roses with white baby's breath as filler flowers. "-until class tomorrow morning. I cannot risk telling him-"
   "Until you're sure he's going to reject you or if he likes you back, I know," Virgil finished. "You've already said that a million times."
   "And I shall say it a million more," Logan softly reminded, gently placing the bouquet on the floor next to him. "I just.."
   After an uncomfortable silence that lasted a few moments, Virgil scooted the green bean bag he was sitting on closer, placing a hand over the other's. "You're scared of getting hurt, right?"
   At the numb nod, Virgil hugged his friend, letting him lean on him. He internally cursed both of them for getting him to promise to keep their crushes a secret, trying to figure out something to say. "I think you should tell him. I've got a feeling he feels the same."
   "But how could we be certain? I mean, there's him-" Logan held up his left hand. "-the most charismatic and kind person at school who's basically an underrated Disney Prince as a civilian working in a craft store, right?" In his ranting, Logan stared down at his hand he'd held up. "And then there's me-" He held up his right hand. "-the background character of the same Disney movie who works at the bakery down the street making croissants."
   "Oddly specific," Virgil joked, knowing that Logan literally worked at the bakery down the street and that Roman literally worked at the craft store on the same end of the same street, both of them telling him about their days, and troubles of their thoughts of the other.
   Logan lightly hit the other's shoulder. "Now is not a time for jokes, I'm serious," He said, emphasizing the "not", despite the forming smile on his features.
   "No you ain't," Virgil smirked, a confused look directed at him. "No necktie," He filled in, reminding the other that he was wearing a comfy green sweater rather than his comfort outfit of a dress shirt and necktie.
   "Shut up," Logan chuckled, lightly shoving Virgil's shoulder, his small smile falling for a few moments of quiet contemplation. "Do you really think I should tell him?"
   "Definitely," Virgil ran a hand through the brushed lop of red hair and pushed it back, erasing all two seconds of work it took to neaten it, before sitting upright. "But only if you think you're ready."
   Logan brushed aside the locks that fell in his eyes, meeting eyes with Virgil. "Alright, then I will," He smiled, picking up the bouquet then himself. "I'll come by your apartment to tell you how it went." Virgil gave a thumbs up, walking with Logan out the door before they parted ways, the latter traversing down the hall while Virgil took the elevator up to his own apartment.
   To say the least, Virgil did not expect his friend to appear at his door two hours later while he was writing up an English assignment, the usually orderly one half disheveled and in need of foundation to hide marks from his roommates. Despite his laugh, he was glad his two best friends finally got together after two whole excruciating years of watching them swoon over each other.
"SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME" (2019) Review
Tumblr media
"SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME" (2019) Review The Marvel Cinematic Universe finally ended its third phase with the release of its second Spider-man movie called "SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME". Released after the franchise's mega hit, "THE AVENGERS: ENDGAME", this second Spider-man movie is regarded as a follow-up to the previous film.
Set in June 2024, eight months after "ENDGAME", former S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nicholas Fury and his top aide, Maria Hill, investigate an unnatural sandstorm and discover it was created by a creature known as an Earth Elemental. A super-powered man from an alternate universe named Quentin Beck arrives to help them fight the creature. In New York City, those students who had been killed by Thanos' Snap and revived by the Hulk's "Blip" prepare to finish out the school year they had been forced to repeat. Among them are Peter Parker aka Spider-man and his fellow members of the school's academic decathlon team, who the school rewards with a two-week European vacation. Still grieving over the death of Tony Stark aka Iron Man, Peter anticipates enjoying the trip and using it as an opportunity to confess his growing feelings for fellow classmate, Michelle "MJ" Jones. However, while the Midtown students are in Venice, Italy; Peter is contacted by Fury, who delivers a pair of glasses equipped with an Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) called E.D.I.T.H. that had been given to him via Stark's will. E.D.I.T.H. was an augmented reality security, defense and artificial tactical intelligence system. Fury also asks Peter to help him, Hill and Beck to deal with a new threat to Earth, the Elementals. Longing to spend time with MJ, Peter rejects Fury's request. But when a Water Elemental threatens to overwhelm Venice, Peter dons a new Spider-man suit given to him by Fury and Hill and helps Beck deal with this new threat. I might as well be frank. I was not a fan of 2017's "SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING". I simply thought it was a badly written film with very little imagination. I also consider it to be one of the worst films within the MCU franchise. I never had a problem with Tom Holland as Peter Parker aka Spider-man. But with Jon Watts back as director, I had doubts that my feelings for "SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME" would be the same . . . or similar. I did not think that this sequel to "HOMECOMING" would be a vast improvement over the 2017 movie. And this is why a family member literally had to drag my ass . . . wait a minute. I should be more honest. I had every intention to see "FAR FROM HOME". It was the only major film that was being released around the Fourth of July holiday and I needed something to do. So, was the movie worth a trip to the theaters? One of the joys I had managed to derive from "SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME" were its European locations. I have not been that impressed by the photography featured in many of the MCU films. But I could not help but be impressed by cinematographer Matthew J. Lloyd's work in this film. I found it unusually sharp and colorful for this franchise. And it did help that he had utilized his talent for scenes shot in Venice, Prague and London. I also felt that Leigh Folsom Boyd and Dan Lebental's special effects had enhanced Lloyd's work. Another aspect of "FAR FROM HOME" that impressed me were the special effects created for the Elementals. Another aspect of the film that I enjoyed were the performances. Tom Holland gave his usual excellent performance as Peter Parker aka Spider-man. Samuel L. Jackson's portrayal of Nick Fury proved to be a bit more skillful than usual, deliberately conveying the idea that Fury seemed to be a bit off in this story. This was due to the fact that his old Skrull friend from "CAPTAIN MARVEL", Talos, was impersonating him. I thought Jake Gyllenhaal gave the best performance as the costumed vigilante Quentin Beck aka Mysterio, whose sincere and warm manner hid a possibly sinister agenda. I was pleasantly surprised by Zendaya, who gave a more nuanced performance as Peter's new love interest Michelle "M.J." Jones than she did in "HOMECOMING". However, I remained unimpressed by her screen chemistry with Holland. There was another screen pair that proved to be surprisingly impressive was Jacob Batalon and Angourie Rice, who portrayed Ned Leeds and Betty Brandt, Peter's roommates. Thanks to their performances, I really enjoyed Ned and Betty's summer romance that took everyone by surprise. The movie also featured funny performances from Tony Revolori, J.B. Smoove, Martin Starr, Marisa Tomei, Jon Favreau and a surprising cameo from J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson. The only real disappointing performance came from Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill. She seemed to be used as background, instead of a supporting character. I blame the writers. Thanks to the European locations, Matthew J. Lloyd's cinematography and the cast's performances, I can honestly say that I enjoyed "SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME" . . . more than I did 2017's "HOMECOMING". But despite the above, I was still disappointed with the film. There was simply too much about this movie that rubbed me the wrong way. And I find this sad, considering that Spider-man has always been my favorite Marvel Comics character for years. The main aspect about this movie that irritated me was the main villain's goal. The Disney/Marvel publicity machine had hinted for months that "FAR FROM HOME" would explore the aspects of an alternate universe. In fact, the Mysterio character was supposed to be from an alternate universe who had arrived in this one to defend Earth against the Elementals. Instead, this all proved to be cheap plot twist that originated from revenge. The main villain, Quentin Beck, was a former Stark Interprises employee, who had been fired by the late Tony Stark for his unstable personality. Stark had also stolen Beck's holographic technology for his own private use, embittering the latter even further. With Tony dead, Beck settled with deceiving Peter Parker into handing over E.D.I.T.H. to him. I could not believe what this story had been reduced to . . . another Spider-man movie in which the main villain had a grudge against Tony Stark. Then again, I should have known better. For some reason, the movie's narrative seemed unwilling to touch upon or explore any grief that Peter may have experience over Tony's death. I take that back. The movie featured one scene in which Peter and Tony's former security chief, Happy Hogan, did discuss the dead Avenger. But there were no other scenes in which Peter dealt with the emotional consequences of Tony's death. Instead, he spent most of the movie being torn between plotting to win M.J.'s love and "helping" Beck and Fury deal with the Elementals. Which would have been fine with me, considering my dislike of Tony Stark. But instead of allowing Peter to face the emotional consequences of Tony's death, the movie included scenes of Robert Downey Jr.'s mug being plastered on a wall or a billboard or in a dream. After I saw Downey Jr.'s face for the fourth time, I had to fight the urge to throw something at the movie screen. It was sooooo fucking annoying. What I found even more annoying is that for the second time, the main antagonist's villainy sprung from some past action of Tony Stark's. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has managed to make two of Spider-man's well-known villains more about Iron Man, instead of him. I still find it ridiculous that the MCU seems hellbent upon making Spider-man's villains more about Iron Man, instead of Spider-man. And then there was the matter of E.D.I.T.H. Why on earth would any responsible adult will a dangerous piece of technology like E.D.I.T.H. to an adolescent? Why? Why did the screenwriters treat this dangerous and irresponsible action on Tony's part as a source of comedy? Come to think of it . . . when did Tony make this decision to bequeath the glasses to Peter? During the last five years of his life, Peter had been dead, thanks to Thanos' snap in "THE AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR". He had been resurrected at less than two hours before Tony's death. So, when did Tony decide to bequeath E.D.I.T.H. to Peter? Had he included this legacy in his will before the events of "INFINITY WAR"? If so, why did he fail to change his will following Peter's death? Especially, since he and Pepper Potts managed to get marry and conceive a daughter? Or did he create a new will, while building a time machine (MASSIVE EYE ROLL) for the Avengers? I have never heard of anything so stupid in my life . . . even for a comic book movie. One more thing - how did Quentin Beck and his co-conspirators discover that Tony had bequeathed E.D.I.T.H. to Peter? Was Tony stupid enough to post his will electronically? And why in God's name would the MCU allow Tony to create something so dangerous and not treat it so seriously? What was the franchise thinking? I had assumed that "SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME" would explore the aftereffects of both Thanos' snap and the Blip that had resurrected Peter and others who had been killed by the former. It barely did. The movie revealed that Peter and his aunt, May Parker, were helping other resurrected victims of the Snap in Queens, New York; who had had returned to life to find themselves homeless by staging some kind of fundraiser with Spider-man. I had learned via the MCU Wiki page that May Parker had also been killed by the Snap. I find this odd, considering that the same website had made it clear that she had survived the Snap back in 2018. And if both Peter and May had been killed by the Snap, why did they NOT end up homeless after being resurrected? How did May resume her profession (whatever it is) after five years? How did she get her money back? Did her bank refund her money following her resurrection? The more I think about Peter and May's situation regarding the Snap and the Blip, the more I find myself disgusted with the MCU's handling of its overall narrative. Audiences never saw May deal with the discovery that her nephew was Spider-man. Audiences never saw Peter and May struggle after their resurrection. It seemed as if the screenwriters of this movie had become emotional cowards. Or perhaps I should simply label Kevin Feige as an emotional coward? I have noticed that in past movies, he has never allowed the franchise to deal with the aftermath of serious events. At least not in the movies. "AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D." had to deal with the aftermath of the agency's fall back in 2014. The series had to deal with the rise of Inhumans - something that the movies never touched upon since the topic first came up back in 2014/2015. And now, it seemed apparent that the MCU seems unwilling to deal the aftermath of both the Snap and the Blip. Looking back, "SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME" was the wrong movie to follow "THE AVENGERS: ENDGAME". It was willing to be some ham-fisted ode to Tony Stark, but it was obviously unwilling to explore how people like Peter and May Parker dealt with their deaths and their resurrections. Speaking of the Snap . . . guess who else got killed? All of Peter's friends from his school's Academic Decathalon Team. ALL OF THEM - Michelle M.J. Jones, Ned Leeds, "Flash" Thompson and Betty Brandt. All of them. All of them had been killed by Thanos' Snap and resurrected by the Blip. All of them. You cannot imagine how much I found this incredibly contrived. According to the movie's narrative, those students who had been killed and resurrected were given a two-week trip to Europe during the summer. So . . . Peter, his four remaining companions from the last film, and a handful of other students were the only ones from Midtown School of Science and Technology who had undergone the Snap and the Blip? Just them? How convieeeennent. By the way, this was a shoddily planned trip. The movie never featured them visiting any place of academic interest. No one discussed or brought up the possible trauma of being killed and resurrected. No one. And when did Peter become interested in Michelle "M.J." Jones? Audiences last saw her casually conversing with Peter at the end of "HOMECOMING", while he was mourning the end of his relationship with Liz, Adrian Toomes aka the Vulture's daughter. Sometime between the 2017 movie and this one, he became attracted to M.J. My God, how frustrating! It almost reminds me of the rushed development of Princess Leia Organa and Han Solo's relationship in the STAR WARS Original Trilogy. At least in that franchise, "STAR WARS: EPISODE IV - A NEW HOPE" revealed hints of Han finding Leia attractive. I saw no such hints in Peter's feelings for M.J. by the end of "HOMECOMING". So . . . when did he fall for her? I was also surprised about how Nick Fury aka Talos managed to change the group's itinerary at short notice in order to get Peter to continue with the so-called "Elemental threat". How did he achieve this without alerting the school board or the travel agency? This made no sense to me. Speaking of the fake Nick Fury and Maria Hill . . . why? Why on earth would Fury allow two aliens (even if they were friendly) to impersonate him and Hill? Why? If he was on vacation, he should have immediately cancelled it when the so-called "Elemental threat" first appeared. But he did not. Why? This is not how someone as paranoid as Fury would behave. Was he really on vacation? This whole scenario regarding his identity was simply a joke to me. After the joke about his eye in "CAPTAIN MARVEL", it seems as if the MCU is hell bent upon making him the franchise's punch line. Has Kevin Feige recently developed a grudge against Samuel L. Jackson or something? It was worse for Hill/Soren since she/he barely said a fucking word. By the way, what has Fury been doing since the breakup of the Avengers? Which government agency was he working for when the Snap happened? Or was he operating his own security firm? How did the Snap and Blip affect his livelihood? I get the feeling that the MCU will never explain anything. I would discuss the movie's ending, which featured Peter's identity as Spider-man being exposed by Beck or one of his colleagues. But I was too disgusted with the film to overall care. I am certain - or I hope - that this issue will be addressed in what I HOPE will be the final MCU Spider-man movie. Granted, I enjoyed the film's photography and the European locations. I enjoyed the performances of the cast led by Tom Holland. I especially enjoyed Jake Gyllenhaal's performance. And I enjoyed the romance between the Ned Leeds and Betty Brant characters (they eventually got married in Marvel Comics). Unfortunately, the sloppiness and laziness of the film's writing, the narrative's unwillingness to address issues from the last two Avengers films, the heavy-handed ode to Tony Stark and Jon Watts' mediocre direction has led me to regard "SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME" as a complete bust. This is the second time that a MCU Spider-man movie has completely disappointed me. I really wish that Sony Pictures would resume producing Spider-man movies without any output from the MCU. I really do.
48.   The bride was a boy – Chii
49.   10 Dances – Inouesatoh
50.   Hän on kannoillasi – R.L. Stine
Some were borrowed, but most were from my Shelf Of Shame (that is still...very full bc I keep buying books or taking them from bookcrossing spots at the library).
Some of them (like the Stephen King ones) had been there since I was 14yo. Others (like 4, 13, 40, and 46) had been gifts from relatives who only knew I liked to read and had no idea of which genre.
I’m not gonna comment on the classics in here, I liked some and some I didn’t, and I’m not willing to disclose which ones. Probably 23 was my favourite of this group though.
The Finnish titles I had already read in either English or Spanish, and re-read them in Finnish to practice the language. 21 and 47 are by independent Finnish artists/authors and in English, they have queer themes and are cool.
I liked most of the mangas (5,6,7,8,16,17,48,49) and some of the comics (28,29).
Was a bit disappointed with the Phillip Pullman books that weren’t n.19, but mostly bc I expected something different when I bought them.
Special mentions:
A feast of Sorrows, I found second hand for free and it was really, really good, and up my alley in what I’m interested right now: new fairy tales, with women protagonists, and just damn thrilling.
Nueve cuentos malvados, surprised me because the protagonists of the tales were elderly people, an age group that I’ve barely read about, and it was an interesting persepective.
El bosque profundo is a collection of microtales and it was!!! so!!! good!!! Sadly it’s in Spanish and hasn’t been translated yet. I’m half-way through another book of the same author and I’m liking it a lot.
 Most of the books I have left now are very thick, so I won’t be able to read them as quickly, but maybe I could try to aim for 25 more books before the end of the year? But it’s a soft objective because I have already read so much. I’m currently re-reading Good Omens (which doesn’t count) and I have like, three more books started, the rest of the Hunger Games in Finnish, etc.
Prague Extra Met Tom & Z
I MET TOM HOLLAND ON THE SET OF SPIDER-MAN FAR FROM HOME
On Monday September 24 I was an extra on the set of Spider-Man Far From Home in Prague. I already described my one other day on the set here.
We were filming on the streets “Nerudova”, “Ke Hradu” and “Hradčanské Schody”
We were shooting a Summer Carnival. The number of extras that were there was insane, easily about 500 people, probably more.
It was a NIGHT shoot. We started at about 9pm and ended at 1am. (Then they held us until 4:30am and then rushed us out for one more shot.)
It was a “summer" carnival, however it was 5°C and windy and they made us take off our jackets, so we were freezing (and I caught cold).
It was worth it though, because towards the end of the shoot, we were moved onto the stairs and we were going to be walking down. Then they told us that there will be actors and they will be walking up the stairs.
The actors turned out to be TOM HOLLAND, ZENDAYA (M.J.), JACOB BATALON (NED), Martin Starr (TEACHER) with Tony Revolori (FLASH), Angourie rice, Abe brown AND J. B. SMOOVE
THEY WERE IN PAIRS, WITH THE TEACHER AND SMOOVE IN THE LEAD. TOM WAS IN THE BACK WITH ZENDAYA AND TOM WAS WEARING A SUIT.
We did a couple of takes so I walked several times right next to Tom. And then in between takes, I got to stand and be around Tom and the others.
My first impression of Tom: he is pretty short :D. (And not just him also Jacob and the whole class is really short.) That really surprised me, because I am not all that tall, and I was taller than him.
I always wished to to meet Tom one day, and even though there was no picture or autograph, it was still really cool.
LAUREN’S ‘DEAR GOD WHAT HAVE I DONE’ BOOKLIST
I wanted to make a list of all the books currently in my house/on my phone waiting to be read as a ‘fun’ project to motivate myself to read them but all it made me want to do is curl up into a ball and cry lmao. Anyhow i’m posting it here a) in case anyone is curious about this list i keep talking about, and b) because i can then cross them off one by one as i go through.
Quick note: this list is not complete. I know for a fact that i’ve accidentally missed off several books, but these are the ones i’ll be focusing on for this year.... or you know, decade. Also these are all books i own (some from years ago), the list of books i don’t own but want to read is... well, probably longer. Under a read more to save us all the scrolling lmao.
Tumblr media
Der Leser trifft im Genre Fantasy auf phantastische Welten und Figuren. Oft stellt sich die Frage, worin besteht der Unterschied zwischen Fantasy Buch und einem Sciencefiction Buch? Hierzu liefert der Autor der "Ender"-Romane eine kurze Definition: Wenn eine Geschichte in einem Universum spielt, das denselben Regeln folgt wie unseres, dann ist es Sciencefiction. Wenn sie in einem Universum spielt, das unseren Regeln nicht folgt, ist es Fantasy. Elfen, Drachen, Orks, Zwerge, Goblins, Oger und Magie. Zeitreisen. Elfen die zusammen mit Menschen um das Gute kämpfen. Ich liebe High Fantasy mit Tad Williams, Brandon Sanderson oder Tolkien, und R. R. Martin. Doch auch Dark F. ist reizvoll. Die düstere Atmosphäre und das Happy End ist genau besehen auch kein Happy End. Klassiker der Dark F. sind H. P. Lovecraft, Anne Rice und Stephen King "Der dunkle Turm". Unter den Bereich Romantasy zähle ich die "Black Dagger" Reihe von J. R. Ward und  die Gestaltwandler Reihe von Nalini Singh, habe ich eine Zeit lang ganz gerne gelesen. Urban F. spielt im Hier und Jetzt. "Chroniken der Unterwelt" von Cassandra Clares und wie das Urban schon sagt, spielt es in einer Stadt. Die Parallelwelt dahinter steht im Fokus.
