Maddie: I don't think you're a fraud. I think you're just not sure of your own feelings. If there's something you need to tell Eddie you will in your own time.

Okay, okay so we've seen at least one of Eddie's dates right? We've seen that Pepa sets him up and he doesn't really want to do it. Cause, what from that one scene we find out he took a lady somewhere to let her down easy? Can I put it out into the universe. I wanna see Eddie Diaz be a more active person. We've gotten a little taste of it with him following his heart and being a fire fighter again. But mostly we've seen Eddie be told what he should do and what he should want. And it's old now. We've seen everyone telling Eddie that he needs to get out there and date after Shannon died. We saw his family telling him he needed to go back to Texas to do right by Chris. We saw him trying to get back with Shannon when she came into his life because that's what he was told he should do. Give Chris a mom, be a good husband, settle down.
Fuck sakes Buck had to tell Eddie to break up with Anna! Eddie wasn't going to do it without a push. And the whole quitting fire fighting thing happened because Chris said he was scared and Eddie was like 'someone told me something, I have to do what they want - or what he thought they wanted.' And wasn't it Bobby who had Eddie go to therapy first before letting him back with the 118? . . . or was it the break down that made him realize he had to do therapy? I dunno I feel someone told him he had to do therapy or he would never.
I just . . . okay, since I don't believe buddie will go canon thanks to Kristin who is now in the driver's seat, I'll be pleasantly surprised if my ship ever sailed - so the obligatory buddie mention out of the way. I just really need to see Eddie doing things he wants. Does he not want a girl friend? Great! Let's see Eddie being single and happy and telling people when they say 'you should do this or that' "No, I'm doing this instead and am quite happy."
Can I just get a little more screen time on Eddie and see him actively making choices and doing things? Without people telling him what to do? Honestly been there enough in real life myself with being told how I should live my life so maybe I'm projecting a little but god dang.

Say Don't Go
Tumblr media
Evan "Buck" Buckley x fem!reader
summary: tensions rise between you and Buck as you find out that he works for you uncle and he learns you're Bobby's niece, forcing the two of you to make a decision on where your relationship stands
word count: 3k
part one
Buck could not believe it. The first woman he was attracted to in months was Bobby’s niece? He really was always getting dealt a shit hand. He was going to ask you out on an official date and bring you flowers and shower you with compliments and make stupid jokes to make the both of you less nervous. He supposed now that it was only a pipe dream. And all because you were related to his boss.
“Bobby, I didn’t know you had a niece,” Buck spoke up, trying to seem nonchalant, as if he didn’t feel like he was going to throw up. And he did, the idea of running to the restroom sounding real inviting.
“She’s my sister’s kid,” Bobby replied, pulling you into his side in a protective manner then pointed at the man. “Don’t get any ideas, Buck,” he said with a wink, but the threat seemed very serious. Too bad the ship had already sailed and was on the verge of sinking.
You eyed Buck and shook your head as if to tell him to not come any closer. You wanted to speak to him about the whole situation, but you couldn’t without everyone noticing that the two of you had disappeared and jumped to their own conclusions. You were going to have to meet on your own time to avoid suspicions. Especially Bobby’s.
The man had become very protective of you since the day you were born and would continue to do so until he took his last breath. Since your father was never in the picture, he felt the need to step up and be exactly what you needed. He was there for everything: your first steps, helping you ride a bike without training wheels, your first date. Yes, he sat in the back row of the movie theater, watching the two of you like a hawk, making sure the kid didn’t try anything.
Bobby would not have been happy if he found out that Buck had even looked at you in a flirty manner let alone slept with you. It wasn’t that he didn’t think that Buck wasn’t fit to be your boyfriend, but more like any man wasn’t fit for the role.
You eyed Buck practically the entire time but tried not to draw attention to yourself as you did it. Tension was rising and you really hoped that no one else could see it. Especially since you were the guest of honor and couldn’t fade into the background like you desperately wanted to.
“Everyone,” Bobby stood behind you, resting his hands on your shoulders. “This is my niece, y/n. And I expect you all to welcome her as an honorary member of the 118. She’s going to be here for a while. Y/n, this is Hen and her wife Karen,” he pointed to the Black woman who was standing next to Buck. She gave you a hug and you were quick to return it. “And Buck and his sister, Maddie.” You looked at Buck and didn’t miss the look on his face as your eyes glanced at him to look at his sister. His face was white. Almost as if he had seen a ghost. You ignored it for the moment and tried your best to listen to Bobby’s introductions of his team. “And that’s Chimney,” Bobby gestured to the Asian man who was on Buck’s other side. Oh, you so had to hear the backstory about that nickname. “And Eddie and his son, Christopher.” You turned your attention to one of the most beautiful men you had ever seen and a young boy who was using crutches.
Hugs were all passed around as you were introduced and you all mingled as you sipped on your drinks, waiting for dinner to be ready. You got into a conversation with Maddie about nursing, but you couldn’t help but let your eyes wander to her brother who had been in what looked a deep conversation with Eddie. You couldn’t help but feel like word about your night together was somehow going to get to your uncle and you didn’t even know why you cared so much. You were an adult now and really had no reason to hide to from Bobby. Maybe he’d be a little upset at first, but he’d come around.
“So, that’s the girl you hooked up with the other night?” Eddie asked, holding back a laugh. It was just too good, almost like the plot of a telanovela he’d watched with Christopher. Of course something like that would have happened to Buck. That sounded exactly like something that would have happened to him.
“Yes,” Buck nodded.
“And she’s Bobby’s niece?” All Buck could do was glare at Eddie. It was almost as if he wasn't listening at all. And for once, this was a very serious matter. His life was doomed as he knew it and Eddie was just laughing it off as if it was all just a big joke. And Buck supposed that maybe it was.
“Yes. Weren’t you listening?” He was now on edge, for whatever reason, feeling paranoid that Bobby had been listening even though the man was all the way across the room joking around with Michael.
“Hey, relax," Eddie pat his friend's shoulder. Sometimes Buck just really needed to relax. "I’m just making sure I’m getting the facts right. I can't believe that out of all of the people in Los Angeles that you slept with Bobby's niece. Oh, Chim is gonna get a kick out of this."
Eddie burst into laughter, really getting a kick out of his friend's pain, but he couldn't help it. It was all just too funny to not laugh a little at the unfortunate events of his friend's life. He was just happy that he wasn't in Buck's shoes.
“But you're not gonna tell Chim," he gave Eddie a warning look. "This secret dies with us. And I swear if you tell Bobby-" Both of the men knew that whatever threat came out of Buck's mouth would be empty, but Eddie wanted to know what would have been in store for him if he had broken his promise.
“You’ll do what, Buck?” He crossed his arms over his chest, tilting his head to the side in curiosity.
“I don’t know, but It’ll be bad.”
“Sure, whatever you say, buddy." Eddie gave his shoulder a pat as Bobby had everyone gather around before they all sat down to eat.
“Alright, everyone dinner is served and before we sit, I’d to make a toast,” Bobby spoke up and you could see his eyes getting misty already. “The moment I held you after you were born, I knew that you’d be destined for greatness,” he started and you knew that his speech was going to be a tear jerker just like always.
“I remember when you were three and insisted on fixing my “wounds” with your little doctor’s kit that I had gotten you for Christmas. You told me that you were going to be a nurse and save lives and look at you now. You graduated nursing school and got a job at your first choice hospital. I’m so proud of you, kiddo. So, if everyone would raise their glasses.” Everyone did as they asked as Bobby raised his own that was filled with soda. “To y/n,” he said.
“To y/n,” everyone repeated and they all clinked their glasses together before cheering, giving you a round of applause. After the excitement died down, everyone sat down at the table, the only spot available being the one to the left of you that Buck was reluctant to occupy.
“Oh-“ he said, cutting himself off and everyone was quick to turn to him. To them, it was just the only available seat. To you and Buck, though, it was more than that. If he sat next to you, the awkward tension would only rise and Buck really didn’t want to make it all about him when this was your party.
“You can sit there, Buck,” Bobby told him. “Y/n doesn’t bite.” Buck’s mind immediately flashed to a couple of nights ago when you had done just that. When you had actually bitten him and been the cause of the healing hickey on his neck.
“Yeah, Buck,” youpulled the chair out for him to take a seat. “I don’t bite,” you winked, a joke just between the two of you. Buck hesitantly sat next to you, being very obvious unlike you. He might as well have just told the entire table that the two of you had slept together while he was at it.
“So, y/n,” Hen spoke up. “What’s your position at the hospital?”
“Labor and delivery,” you told her. You always loved the idea of bringing new life into the world and after doing a few residencies and following nurses around who did just that, you knew that was the career for you.
“That’s so admirable,” Hen smiled warmly. Just from what Bobby had told her about you, she was sure that you were going to do really well in the medical field. That you were a hard worker and never took no for an answer. “I’m sure you’re going to do great.”
“Well, thank you. And thank you, Robert, for this amazing celebration,” you gestured to the all of the nurse themed decorations all over the main level of the house and even out on the patio where you were all sitting.
“That was actually all Athena,” Bobby corrected, feeling like he should’ve let his wife take the credit for all the hard work she put in to make the house look nice.
“Well, thank you, Athena,” you turned to the woman she nodded enthusiastically, wanting you to know just how much she enjoyed planning the entire thing for you, knowing that it meant a lot to Bobby because of how close he was to you.
“Of course,” she replied. “It was my absolute pleasure.”
You looked around at everyone sitting at the table and despite not knowing most of them, you felt but nothing but loved sitting at that table, discussing everything and nothing as you all ate the meal that Bobby prepared for you all. You had felt alone your entire life, only having Scarlett, your mom, and Bobby as your family and now all of the people he had been closest to were welcoming you into their world with open arms, and you couldn’t help but feel more lucky.
You hesitantly turned to Buck and noticing him picking around his plate, the dish almost full signifying that he hadn’t really eaten anything. And you didn’t blame him. You hadn’t much of an appetite either considering the whole situation and for a second there, you completely had forgotten about him. It seemed that neither of you had the best luck in the dating apartment, so of course, as fate would have it, you couldn’t be together. Or more like shouldn’t considering the whole situation. It would have just been weird and awkward and maybe it would have just been for the best if you just left it at a one night stand.
Dinner came to a close and by the end of it, you were all sharing funny stories from your careers and just from the one meal you had with them, you knew you were going to enjoy spending more time with them. Maybe if you asked Bobby, you all could have had more meals together like you had heard they did at the 118. You would have really enjoyed that. You were really looking forward to having a real family.
The members of the 118 all lingered at the door like usual, all hesitant to go back to their homes. All except Buck. He was getting antsy to get the hell out of there and to probably never speak to you again. He could run into a burning building without batting an eye, but when it came to his personal life, all he wanted to do was run away. He absolutely hated confrontation and was going to avoid the inevitable as long as possible.
He looked at you, watching you laugh with his sister and could easily see the three of you getting together for dinner. You'd sit next to him and his hand would reach for yours and you'd give him a warm smile as Maddie looked at the both of you, so happy that her brother had finally real, true love.
The dream quickly faded away as Buck accepted that he was going to let you slip through his fingers. The whole thing was just too complicated and he wasn't going to put you through all of that, especially since you were just getting started with your career. You already had too much on your plate and he didn't think there was enough room for him.
"Right, Buck?" Bobby asked, giving his shoulder a pat and Buck turned to the man in confusion, not even aware that he was even being spoken to.
"I'm sorry, what?" You were still swirling around in his mind even though he was trying hard to focus on what Bobby had been saying.
"You're coming in on time tomorrow, right?" He had still been teasing about him being late a couple of days ago and Buck just rolled his eyes. Now he didn't have a reason to be late anymore and he kind of hated it.
"Yes sir," Buck nodded. "Good night, Bobby."
"Good night, Buck." Bobby gave his shoulder a squeeze and Buck gave you one last look before turning on his heel to head to his jeep.
You watched Buck walk to his vehicle, wondering why he had said goodbye to everyone but you. What, so he found out that you were Bobby's niece and now he was giving you the silent treatment? How was that fair? Maybe everything that happened that night was all part of an act and now he was just showing you his true self.
So maybe that night wasn't as special to you as it was to him. You had even considered asking him out, but now you guessed you had just dogged a bullet. He was just like the other's and at least this one saved you the headache by ghosting you instead of pursuing you only to show no interest in you the entire duration the relationship. You supposed it saved you some tissues knowing who he was from the get go.
One week later
You pulled up to the fire station, feeling anger course through you as you put Scarlett's car in park. You had tried to reach out to Buck multiple times since the party only to be met by nothing but silence. Even if nothing happened between the two of you, you felt like you at least deserved an explanation. Didn't your feelings matter too? Apparently not to him.
So, you decided to show up the one place he couldn't run from so you could have a conversation with him. You weren't sure how you were going to do that with all those people around, but you'd figure things out. You always did.
You marched into the station, scanning the place for Buck and noticed that everyone was surrounding the engine, wiping it down or cleaning the interior. Eddie was the first to spot you and he pointed wordlessly to the other side of the engine, assuming that you were there for Buck.
You rounded the back of the engine and made a beeline for the man, grabbing onto his arm, pulling him somewhere more private, deciding that right by the bathrooms was really the only spot that was as out of sight as you could get. You stopped there and Buck could practically see the flames forming in your eyes because of how angry you were. Women had been mad at him more times than he could count, but never like that. If looks could kill, he definitely would have been dead.
"You're an asshole," you told him, trying your best not to yell. For once, Buck was very aware of the hurt he had caused. And now he was paying for it. With the way you were balling your fists, you looked like you were going to punch him, and for the first time, he was going to take it because he felt like he deserved it.
"Am I?" He asked, cocking his head to the side. Buck didn't know why he was being such a dick, but now he felt like he had stick with it since he had already committed to the role. He honestly wasn't expecting you to show up. The most he ever got was an angry phone call. Perhaps you showing up was a sign that you weren't willing to give up on him like everyone else.
"Yes!" Your voice was a little loud, but you couldn't have cared less. He deserved to know just how angry you were and for once, you didn't care about embarrassing him. That was the least he deserved.
"I had a really nice time with you. You made me feel special. I hadn't slept with anyone in a long time and I trusted you. I trusted you, Evan. And then you find out that Bobby's my uncle and you run? If you didn't want to see me again, the least you could have done was told me. But no, you're nothing but a coward."
Bobby stood on the other side of the wall, listening to the entire thing. He hadn't meant to eavesdrop, but he had left the restroom just as you and Buck went to block the exit and he couldn't have passed without revealing that he had heard everything and he couldn't have that. At least, not yet. Tension was already high and he didn't want to make it worse.
Bobby didn't know what was worse, hearing that you had slept with Buck, or the fact that he made you cry. So not only did the guy sleep with you, but he also completely ghosted you and hurt your feelings. That was three strikes so Buck was out. At least, for the near future. Just as you were leaving, the sirens went off, signaling that there was a call.
Buck tried to follow you, but Eddie stopped him and Buck watched you leave from over Eddie's shoulder. Eddie turned him around and pushed Buck towards the engine, but Bobby stopped him.
"I'm benching you today, Buck." Maybe it was wrong of him to bring his personal life into work, but nobody was allowed to hurt his little girl. Not even Buck. Especially not Buck.
"Why?" Buck didn't like the assumption his brain was coming to and he really didn't like being benched after being yelled at by a girl he really liked.
"I'm the captain and what I say goes. The dishes really need to be done, so could you take care of that?" With that, Bobby got into the engine and both it and the truck pulled out of the station, leaving Buck with nothing but his thoughts and a sink full of dishes that needed to be done.

Buck receives the call from Tommy's captain himself in the middle of the night, during his shift. He's Tommy's new emergency number, he's also been at the center of a recent discussion with Tommy's captain about it, after years of not having a real emergency number except his closest coworkers.
Buck arrives at the hospital, a little frantic, still in his uniform. He knows it's "not life threatening" but bad enough for Tommy to undergo emergency surgery. Captain Garcia meets him near the lobby, his left hand in a thick bandage, his arm in a sling.
"Firefighter Buckley? Evan Buckley? Captain Garcia. I wish we'd met under different circumstances."
"Captain."
"We were on a fire near the station, the structure collapsed, probably due to a weakness we couldn't see. A rebar went through his thigh, lots of bleeding, but he should be okay."
"Should?"
"I'm not a doctor, son, but I know when a man's dying. And he wasn't."
Captain Garcia is clear and to the point, and Buck appreciates it.
Waiting alone in the lobby of the hospital in the middle of the night wasn't on his plan for this shift. He could have called Maddie but it was 2 am when he got the call. He'll call her later.
Then a woman and two very sleepy young children sit not too far from him. While she settles the kids on the seats next to her, their head on her lap, her eyes land on Buck.
"You're Evan, right?" she asks in a low voice.
Buck is surprised, he doesn't know her, doesn't recognize her face.
"I'm Sophie, er, Dan's wife, Tommy's coworker. They were together when it happened. I know we never met but I've heard of you and Philip- Captain Garcia told me you were already here."
She looks at him with kind eyes behind her tired and worried expression.
"It's- It's nice to meet you, Sophie. I'm sorry, I- I don't-"
"It's alright, I know Tommy is a very private man." She sighs. "He and Dan have been working together for seven years now. Dan has always been the kind to easily befriend people but Tommy was quite the challenge when he was transferred at the station!"
Her smile is genuine. She's picking at her nails, her hands slightly shaking.
"Can I get you something warm to drink?" Buck proposes, already standing up. He needs to move, idly waiting has never been his thing.
"Oh, coffee? Thank you."
"No problem. Anything for them?" he looks at the sleeping children, realizing they're younger than he first thought.
"Water, for later maybe, I don't want to wake them up."
"Of course."
His smile feels stiff on his own face. He shouldn't be here, meeting the wife of Tommy's coworker on the cold plastic seats of the hospital. He should be with his team, sending bad jokes and flirty messages to Tommy who would indulge him.
When he comes back from the vending machine, Sophie is typing on her phone and doesn't see him.
"Here you go," he says softly, not wanting to startle her.
"Thank you." She tastes the coffee, makes a face and sighs. "At least you know the job," she says with a small smile.
"I guess I do. But..."
"I know. It's worse sometimes, because you know what really happens." She lowers her eyes on her coffee cup, swirling the dark liquid in it. Her loose braid slowly comes undone, letting strands frame her face. "Let's meet again around a meal, when our men are better, yes?"
Our men. Buck never thought about Tommy that way, as part of "our men". He nods.
"I'd love that. Thank you, Sophie."
He wonders if that's what if feels to be a "firefighter's wife", to be the partner of a first responder, meeting around unfortunate events and making plans for better days. Sophie shares stories about the station in hushed voice, telling Buck about the people there, the others wives and partners, the children, the parties and the solidarity. Of course, everything sounds very familiar to Buck, but it's like hearing stories from another family.
Then he hears Tommy's name being called and for a second, he feels dizzy. Sophie almost gets up with him then smiles at him. He realizes he didn't ask about Dan, but he'll make sure to stay in touch through Tommy.
The surgeon is in a hurry but takes a few minutes to explain what she did and what will happen next. Tommy will be fine, his leg will recover but the muscle has been badly damaged and it'll take him some time to go back to his daily routine. Even longer before being able to go back to work.
The room is quiet when he enters, safe for a regular and reassuring beep. Buck hesitates a second, seeing Tommy like that feels crushing, even if his sleeping face looks relaxed. His fingers slip into Tommy's hand before gently squeezing it. Feeling his warmth on his palm soothes his nerves.
"Hey, babe."

Do u have any HCs about BuckTommy formally meeting each other’s bio parents? Or how the coming out journey went for them both when their bio parents found out?
- They don’t meet each others parents until it just happens. The Buckley parents have known about Tommy since the madney wedding but they never really commented on it. Buck didn’t ask them about it. They’d just started getting along he didn’t want to risk it.
- Tommy meets Buck’s parents more officially when Jee celebrates her 5th birthday. The Buckleys insist on doing something bigger because their granddaughter only turns 5 once. At this point Buck and Tommy have been together for over a year. When Buck introduces Tommy to his parents they say “oh so you’re still seeing him then?” but they don’t say anything worse they’re polite and that’s about as much as Buck could hope for. Later that night Tommy says he’s sorry the meeting didn’t go better. Buck shakes his head and says that his real family is happy for them and that’s all that matters. He tells Tommy later that he doesn’t understand why he never got the birthday party Jee got. That he’s happy she has her grandparents love but he just wishes he’d have had the same growing up. He tells him sometimes it’s hard not to think he’s the problem. Tommy holds him tight and tells him he matters and that he’s loved. Tommy throws him a massive party with the help of the 118 for his next birthday.
- Buck meets Tommy’s parents at Tommy’s dad’s third wedding. His mum gets drunk out of her mind and Tommy doesn’t even know why she showed up. Tommy’s dad asks him if he’s still gay then. Tommy nods. Tommy’s dad shakes his head and says what can you do. Tommy’s mum says hi, she’s polite and tells him she’s pleased to meet him. But then she gets drunk and spits out hateful words to Tommy’s dad. Tommy feels like he’s 5 again, listening to his parents argue from his bedroom. Tommy tells Buck he’s sorry he had to see that. Buck takes him home and tells him that they can’t choose where they come from. That the family they have is what’s important.
- In the end Buck and Tommy get married in Bobby and Athena’s backyard. The Buckley parents show up which Buck thinks must count for something. Maddie walks him down the aisle. Tommy’s mother comes but his dad doesn’t. He says he doesn’t want to be anywhere near “that woman” Tommy shrugs and says it doesn’t matter, he’s getting married to the man of his dreams and that’s all he cares about. He’d rather they didn’t make a scene anyway. Bobby marries them. Talks about how they were both punk kids when he first met them but how they’ve grown into great men. He calls them his family. He says how far they’ve come from Buck calling Bobby Pops to how Bobby loves him like his son. He tells Tommy he couldn’t have asked for a better son-in-law. Buck and Tommy kiss as husbands for the first time with tears dripping down their cheeks.

Fear. (Angsty plz😊)
Tumblr media
I’ve combined two prompts here because they both played into an idea I had for a fic.
It’s a little more on the whump side than angsty but I hope you’ll both enjoy them anyway.
Thank you 🩶
****
They knew it would happen eventually. Statistically it was an inevitably. They were born firefighters - men whose purpose in life was to walk into danger to save others.
Every good firefighter has a healthy level of fear doing the job. A fearless firefighter is a dangerous firefighter. A firefighter with no fear doesn’t respect the danger they’re in and can make reckless decisions that put their lives, and others lives, at risk.
Though Tommy and Buck both had that healthy level of fear, they each knew that it was an inevitability that they both, at some point, would get injured. Which is why, when things began to get serious between them - which was quicker than either of them had expected, they’d made sure to have conversations about each of their wishes should something happen.
They made sure to prepare as much as they could for when something did happened to one of them.
However, they’d both assumed they’d get injured on the job.
They were wrong.

Athena raced down the street after the suspect vehicle. The car thief was weaving dangerously through traffic; near miss after near miss.
As the vehicle approached a cross section, Athena prayed he would slow down. But he didn’t. He drove through it full speed, T-boning another vehicle with such force it flipped multiple times before somehow landing upright 50 feet away.
Athena hit the brakes and jumped out of her car and ran towards the accident calling into her radio.
“Dispatch this is 727-L30. Suspect vehicle has crashed into another vehicle at the cross section of Main and 7th. We need R.A units this location. I’m approaching the suspect vehicle now.”
She drew her weapon, holding it pointed down as she stepped slowly toward the drivers side. Immediately she could tell that that the man’s injuries were severe. She reached through the open window and placed two fingers on three man’s neck.
“Dispatch, Suspect is deceased. I’m checking on the other vehicle occupants now.” She quickly ran to the other vehicle. Dents and scraps covered the entire car. The windshield and both driver and passenger windows so badly cracked that she couldn’t see through them. She tried to open the drivers door but the roof had bent in too much jamming it in place. She ran around to the passenger side and was able to open that door.
That’s when she saw the occupants of the car.
“Oh my god.”
For a second she was immobilised. How would she tell Bobby? Thankfully she was pulled out of her stupor by a woman running up to her.
“I’m a nurse.” She said.
“Can you get in the back and check the drivers pulse?” The woman ran around the car and thankfully was able to open the back drivers side door. Athena reached for man’s neck in front of her, praying she’d find a pulse. She blew out a breath when she felt it.
“I got a pulse! It’s strong.”
“This guy has a pulse but it’s really weak. He’s in really bad shape, sergeant.” The nurse called out.
“Help is on the way ma’am.” She lifted her radio up to her mouth.
“Dispatch this is 727-L30. Update on the vehicle collision on main and 7th.” She prayed that it wouldn’t be Maddie taking the call and was relieved to hear Josh’s voice.
“Go ahead.”
“We have 2 male occupants ages 33 and 40 with severe injuries… Josh is Maddie anywhere near you right now?”
“No, Sergeant she’s on her lunch break.”
“Good. The victims are.. Evan Buckley and Thomas Kinard.”
There was a beat before Josh responded.
“Copy that sergeant. Can you update on the status of the victims?”
“What’s your name?” She asked the nurse, who was behind Tommy seat with her hands stabilising his head.
“Sarah.”
“Okay Sarah, from what you can assess from where you are now how bad are their injuries?”
“This guys pulse is weak and getting weaker. He’s got lacerations to his face and arms from the glass, a probably broken nose form the air bag, and obvious dislocated right shoulder and I would hazard a guess at some serious internal bleeding from the steering wheel.” Sergeant if you could help stabilise this man’s head I can check the other guy out.” Athena nodded and took over holding Tommys head.
“This guy has the same cuts and the same probable broken nose, and judging by the lump and blood on the leg of his sweat pants im guessing compound fracture of his right leg.”
Athena relayed the information back to Josh and Sarah took over holding Tommys head still.
“Copy that sergeant. And I will inform the.. family member.”
She took out her phone, called the number and took a deep breath and she put the phone to her ear.
“Bobby?”
*
Maddie rushed into the waiting area to find Chim, Hen, Bobby, Eddie and Lucy as She immediately ran to Chim who embraced her in a hug.
“Where’s Jee?” He asked
“She with Mrs Lee. Do we know anything yet?” Tears were already filling her eyes threatening their escape.
“Vehicle thief drove through a cross section and t-boned them. We’re still waiting on an update.”
“What about the person that hit him?” She asked.
“Dead.” Athena’s voice came from behind. “Any news yet?”
Bobby shook his head. “Not yet.”
“Guys..” Lucy pointed to a doctor walking towards them.
“Evan Buckley?”
“That’s us.” Maddie walked over to him with everyone else coming behind.
“Are you family?
“Sister. How is he?” Her voice was trembling. She’d been in this position twice before (his injuries when he was younger not withstanding) and the third time is not any easier.
“Evan sustained a concussion, and the metal rod in his leg snapped and broke through the skin, which we need to go in and replace, probably tomorrow morning. He’s also got a small laceration on his forehead and some minor cuts and bruises.”
“So, he’s gonna be alright? Eddie asked.
“We’ll need to monitor his concussion, and barring any complications with the surgery, he should be able to go home in maybe a week.”
You could feel the tension in the room release a bit at hearing the doctor’s words. But they couldn’t relax just yet.
“Any news on Tommy? Uh, Thomas Kinard?” Lucy asked. “I’m emergency contact if Bu— Evan is unavailable.” The doctor’s face turned more serious.
“Thomas has more serious injuries. A large amount of internal bleeding and a dislocated shoulder are the biggest injures as well as a broken nose and also cuts and bruises. We’re closely monitoring his internal bleeding and we’ll likely have to go in with surgery to fix the bleeding later today.”
“Jesus.” Eddie said running his fingers through his hair.
“Can we see either of them?” Bobby asked.
“Evan can have one visitor at a time and be warned he’s on some heavy meds so if he’s awake he’ll be quite a bit sluggish.” The doctor informed them. “As far as Thomas goes at the moment he’s not up for visitors, right now. Tomorrow perhaps once we have a clearer picture of his health.”
“Doctor, does my brother know about Tommy?”
“Not as yet. He’s been pretty in and out of consciousness because of the meds. It’s probably best if you’re the one to tell him.”
“I will keep you updated on Thomas.” He said to Lucy.
“Thanks.”
“Would you like to see Evan first? I’ll take you too him.”
“Yes, please.” Maddie said and followed him down the corridor.
Maddie was immediately reminded of when his leg was crushed by the engine . Lying on the bed, bandaged up and half asleep. The difference this time is all the cuts and bruises decorated his body.
She pulled a chair over and sat down taking his hand. The sensation of which woke him.
“Tom… Tommy?”
“No, sweetie it’s Maddie.” She rubbed his hand.
“Where’s… Tommy?” His eyes were opening and closing heavily.
“Do you remember what happened?” She asked.
“Sort of… car acc-accident… leg hurts.”
“That’s right. You and Tommy were in a car accident. The metal rod in your leg snapped so the doctors need to go in and replace it.”
“Blood clots.”
“Don’t worry. The doctors are aware of the blood clots from your old screws. They’ll give you different ones.”
“S’good… where’s To-tommy? He turned his face to Maddie but he still couldn’t keep his eyes open for longer than 2 or 3 seconds at a time.
“Buck.. Uh, Tommy.. The doctors are taking really good care of him.” Was all she could think of saying to reassure him.
“How bad?” He mumbled.
“He’s going to be fine, Buck.” She told him but her tone of voice was far too high and Buck knew her well enough to know she was deflecting.
“Maddie.. truth.”
Maddie sighed. “He has pretty bad internal bleeding. They’re taking him to surgery later.”
Bucks heart rate monitor gave away his biggest fear and tears pooled in his eyes. “Can’t..lose him.. mad..”
“I know, I know.” She took his hand in both of hers. “But we’re going to stay positive and we’re going to believe that he is going to make it through, okay.”
*
“How is he?” Bobby asked Maddie
“Physically he’ll be fine, but he’s terrified he’s going to lose Tommy. The doctors won’t let him see him before either of them go in for their surgeries.”
“What? Why?” Eddie asked
“It’s his leg. They have to keep it stable until they can fix it - they can’t risk moving him.” She explained. Eddie nodded, understanding. Then an idea flashed across his mind.
“I’ll be right back.” He quickly walked away.
He knocked on Doctor Salazar’s door and waited to be told to come in.
“Mr Diaz. It’s nice to see you. How are you? No more panic attacks I hope?”
“Uh, no. No, I’m good, thanks. I’m not actually here for me - I have a favour to ask..”
*
“Is he ready?” Eddie asked Maddie on the phone.
“Yeah, but this has to be quick - he’s refused his pain meds so he’s not groggy so he’s in quite a bit of pain.”
“That’s fine Doctor Salazar only managed to get us 5 minutes anyway. Give the phone to Buck.” Maddie handed the phone to him. “Okay bud, I’m putting the phone to Tommys ear now, give me a sec.”
He propped his phone up as close as he could to Tommys ear.
“You’re good to go, Buck. I’ll come back in a couple of minutes.” He left to stand outside Bucks room.
“I’m gonna go get a coffee.” Maddie told Buck and left the room. Buck took a deep breath trying to push past the pain so he could speak.
“Hey, you. I hate that we have to talk over the phone but the doctors won’t let me come see you until they fix my leg. I wish I could be there holding your hand so you could feel me. You’re going into surgery in a few minutes and I just.. I need you to know that..” He sniffed and wiped his eyes “that-that.. the last 7 months with you have been the most incredible of my life. And I’m not ready to give any of that up. I love you so much, Tommy. More than I thought I could ever love a person. You.. you need to come back to me okay? Come back to all of us. You have a home, now. With all of us. With me, with Eddie and Christopher, with Chim and my sister and Jee, With Bobby and Athena, and Hen and Karen and Denny and Mara.. we all need you back here. So-so you get through this surgery, okay. Because I want us both to be there when we tell everyone we’re getting married. I love you sweetheart.” He hung the phone up
Maddie had arrived back and he waved through the window to her. Before she’d made it to his bed he was already breaking down. She leaned over and held him tightly.
“I can’t lose him, Maddie. I can’t.”
“I know, Buck. I know.”
*
3 days later Buck was sat in a wheelchair at Tommys bedside; the rod in his leg having been replaced. Tommy had come through his surgery and the doctors said this prognosis was good. But he still hasn’t woken up yet.
Buck had been insistent that Tommy not be left alone. If he wasn’t being ordered to his own room, he’d be there by Tommys bedside all day.
He’d spent most of the time just talking to Tommy. Updating him on his leg, telling him funny stories of the 118, trying to keep things positive. But the more time went on the more frustrated he was getting that Tommy hasn’t woken up.
“Come on, babe. You have to wake up. I miss you. Everyone mis-“ He felt a delicate squeeze of his hand. “Tommy?”
Tommy breathed heavy and a very light hum sound came from his mouth.
“Tommy, baby I’m here!” He squeezed his hand tight. Tommy swallowed and opened his mouth. It took his a few tries to find his voice.
“Ev..Evan”
“I’m here, baby. I’m here. God you scared me.” He admitted. “How are you feeling?”
“Ouch.” Was all he could muster. Buck let out a tear-filled chuckle as he felt a whoosh of relief flow through him. Tommy managed to open his eyes and turned his head to Buck, his brow furrowing as he saw his injuries.
“You okay? What.. happened?” He sluggishly reached out to touch Bucks face, gently caressing the cuts on his cheek.
“Car accident. Some guy hit us on the drive home from our weekend away. Docs had to replace the rod in my leg but I’m alright. I’ll be back to normal in a month or two.”
“Good.” Tommy said with a relieved sigh. “What about.. me?”
“Uh, you had some pretty serious internal bleeding. They managed to fix it, thankfully. You also dislocated your shoulder. And your face is pretty bruised up.”
“Still think.. I’m handsome?” He asked. Buck was relieved that he still had his sense of humour.
“If it wasn’t for my leg I’d be in that bed showing you how handsome you are.” He teased. Tommy tried to laugh and groaned at the pain. “Oh God I’m sorry. I’ll call a nurse and get you some pain meds.”
“No, wait a minute. I just want.. you for a minute.”
“I’m not going anywhere, babe.” Tommy held Bucks hand tight, his thumb caressed his fingers.
“Where’s your ring? He asked
“Hidden in my room.”
“Hidden?” He asked confused. “Why are.. you hiding it?”
“The docs took it off and I didn’t want to put it back on yet. Not until you’re better and we can tell everyone together.” He lifted Tommys hand up to kiss his knuckles.
“You.. don’t have to.. wait.”
“Yes I do. This is an important moment for both of us. So both of us should be part of it. It’s okay though, we have plenty of time. Just need you to get better first.” Tommy reached up again and cupped Bucks face.
“I can’t wait to marry you, Evan Buckley.”
“I can’t wait to marry you either.”

“All I’m saying is that you have to know.” Buck said as he hopped down out of the firetruck. Hen rolled her eyes as she headed towards the other paramedic to offer her help.
“You know it’s a genuine thing. People being pregnant and not knowing. Maddie said she saw a few back when she was a nurse.” Chimney chimed in. Buck frowned and shrugged. Hen and Chimney shared a look of amusement.
“Hey.” Athena said to Bobby as they trailed after him.
“Am I glad to get out of that truck.” Bobby muttered with amusement. She chuckled and glanced back at the 118.
“Still talking about that last call?” She asked and he nodded. She sighed and gestured to the building. “Well, you might get another one like it. The building collapsed on the south side, there was gas work going on in the building next door. It’s a prenatal clinic. Some people have managed to get themselves out but there are about ten people still inside, two, maybe three upstairs but they aren’t sure.”
“Ok.” Bobby said firmly and stopped walking in step with her so the team could gather around him. They separated as Bobby directed them in different directions. Eddie led the way inside while Buck followed behind. Part of the building had been on fire. Buck could still feel the heat as the one fifteen put out the last of the fire. He turned to Eddie who gestured at the first room, they were quick to clear it and finding no survivors in need of rescuing they hurried to the next room. Hen and Chimney passed them when someone called for a paramedic over the radio. Buck followed after them and stopped as he saw who Hen was stooped over.
“(Y/N)?” Buck said quietly. Hen checked your pulse while Chimney cleared the small amount of debris that was bear you. He called for a board as Hen rolled you over. There was a response from Eddie over the radio as the three of them gawked at you.
“What were you saying about not knowing about pregnancies?” Hen said slowly as she continued to check you out. Chim glanced at Buck as he took the board from Eddie and helped her move you onto it.
“Is that… (Y/N)?” Eddie asked as Hen and Chim hurried you out to the ambulance.
“Urm… uh yeah. It is… We haven’t seen each other since we broke up.” Buck said quietly. Eddie glanced at Buck and nodded, pointing out there was still one more room that needed to be cleared. Buck was silent as they cleared the last room and headed outside Hen was loading you into the ambulance and you seemed to be awake.
“Be advised we have a woman with mild smoke inhalation, testing on the low end for CO poisoning, she has a headache but no other symptoms at present.” Bobby said into his radio. Chim jumped out of the back of the ambulance and motioned for Buck to get in.
“I don’t know…” Buck said.
“Buck. You’re going to want to go.” Athena said firmly. She glanced at Bobby who was now directing other ambulances. “I’ll see if Bobby can give you the last few hours of your shift off.”
Buck still hesitated but walked closer to the ambulance with Eddie who gave him a sympathetic look.
“She looks about thirty weeks Buck… you broke up almost fourteen weeks ago.” Eddie said slowly. Buck frowned at Eddie then at Bobby who gave him a slight nod. Buck hurried towards the ambulance and got in the back. You and Hen were talking quietly. The doors slammed shut as Buck sat down and the ambulance pulled away.
“So.” Hen said awkwardly. You closed your eyes for most of the ride to the hospital, feeling Hen poke and prod. You opened them again when you felt the gurney being pulled out of the ambulance and Hen said that Buck should go with you. Suddenly you were surrounded by people doing tests and asking you questions. You were still disorientated. One minute you had been visiting an estate agent the next the building was on fire and filled with smoke. You dozed off after a while but woke to find Buck sitting in the seat next to you and Hen outside talking to someone just out of sight. He was staring at the floor, his leg bouncing up and down and he sighed every now and then.
Sitting up a little you shafted your weight in the bed. Buck looked up. “You ok?” He asked warily. You sighed and nodded.
“I think so. I feel better.” You muttered. Hen had stopped just outside the door and waited. When nothing else was said she sighed and entered the room.
“Neither of you two are going to talk about it?” She asked. Buck glanced at her while you looked down at your hands and fiddled with them. “Well all right then.” She muttered. A nurse allowed you to be discharged and Hen drove you home. The car ride was silent and she didn’t bring up the pregnancy again. She helped you settle, cleaned up a little and promised that Karen would be around to check in the next day as she was off with Denny for the day and Hen had a long shift and reluctantly agreed that she wouldn’t tell Buck your new address until you were ready to talk to him.
****************************
Bobby had been warned by Chim and Eddie that Buck was in a mood. He’d had a meeting and hadn’t been able to join them on their first call of the shift but Chim had taken the time to call him and let him know that Buck might need someone to talk things through. He wasn’t willing to talk about it with anyone else.
“Buck!” Bobby said as he climbed the steps to the kitchen. Buck had been leaning against a counter, staring at the floor and almost jumped when Bobby called out to him.
“Hey, Bobby.” Buck said with a sigh and tone that told Bobby he was going to hear a lot of complaining.
“Still haven’t spoken to (Y/N)?” He asked. He decided it would be best to wade right in. Buck sighed, rubbing his hands together as he pushed off the kitchen counter he’d been leaning on and walked over.
“I urm. No. I-I tried to reach out but she has a new number and a new apartment.” Buck admitted. Bobby nodded slowly. Buck started helping him prep the vegetables that he had gotten out of the fridge as Buck talked.
“Maybe you could talk to Hen. I know she said she gave (Y/N) her number in case she needs some help. I know the two of you broke up but I’m sure she’d be happy for some support.” Bobby suggested. Buck made a noise that almost had Bobby rolling his eyes. “I thought it ended amicably.”
“We did. After some arguing. It’s just. If she wanted to see me Bobby she would have reached out.” Buck muttered and jabbed at a tomato with a small knife. Bobby took it from him and glanced at Chimney who was hurrying up the stairs laughing with Ravi hurrying after him. Seeing Bobby looking his way and catching a slight nod Chimney hurried over.
“So… what’re we talking about.” He said and glanced at the stovetop and the steaming pan that Bobby hurried to check on, motioning Ravi over.
“(Y/N).” Buck answered.
“Ah. You know. Pregnancy hormones make someone do crazy things. You know I was so nervous that…” He trailed off when Buck sighed and started to walk off. He’d already had Maddie and Chimney coming up with all sorts of excuses when they came over to check on him for the last few days. He was tired of it. “Look, Buck. The two of you… were idiots.”
“What?” Buck said as he turned back and frowned at Chimney. Hen and Eddie had been coming up the stairs and glanced at each other, neither too worried but eager to hear the next chapter in Buck’s drama. There hadn’t been much else happening in the firehouse the past week which was unusual.
“You fell in love too fast. Then just when the two of you start to get to know each other and it got real you bolted and don’t give me that career crap. We all know you, Buck. You would have found a way to follow her around the world if you wanted to. You got scared.” Chimney scolded. Bobby left Ravi watching the stove and walked over, seeing Buck’s face twisted with anger and redden with embarrassment.
“Well hold on now. Buck’s life is here and the two of them really tried to find a way to make it work. They looked into commutes, moving, and transferring. Maddie had just come back and (Y/N) had a promotion that would have, in all honesty, been insane to turn down. I think it took real maturity to realise that they needed to let each other go even if they still loved each other.” Hen defended. Buck seemed to zone out, listening to everyone arguing.
“Of course, you’re the romantic.” Chimney said and chuckled as Hen defended herself. There was a loud clearing of a throat and everyone turned to see Athena. She had clearly just changed out of her uniform and looked unimpressed.
“Maybe instead of talking to everyone here you should go and talk to (Y/N)?” Athena offered as advice. Buck nodded but shrugged.
“I don’t know where she is.” Buck muttered. Athena sighed as if she was fed up and gestured out to the doors.
“She’s outside. Pacing around as if she isn’t about to have her child right on the doorstep. Go.” She motioned for Buck to hurry outside. He jogged down the steps and rushed out to the front of the firehouse. Looking around he couldn’t see anyone. He could hear Bobby and Athena talking as they approached. They both looked empathetic when he came towards them with a defeated look.
“Why don’t you head out.” Bobby offered. Buck looked a little distraught so he quickly added. “We’ve been on a double shift, there’s only twenty-five minutes left and we were going to eat. If no last-minute calls came in. Go and find her.” Bobby insisted. He promised Buck that if anyone asked anything about him not finishing the shift he’d deal with it. Buck changed, shoved his bag into his Jeep and hurtled out of the employee parking lot. It occurred to him as he sat in traffic that he didn’t actually know where to go. Staring up at the red light he tapped his fingers on the steering wheel. Athena had said you’d been outside. He’d drive the block and then head over to Maddie’s if he couldn’t find you. The light went green and he slowly circled the block. As he reached the end of his circle he spotted you stopped at a food truck. He pulled over and hurried towards you as you stepped away from the truck and walked in the opposite direction.
“(Y/N)?” He called. He caught up with you as you were taking a bite of your food and found himself smiling as your eyes went wide and you slowly chewed. “Sorry. Athena said you were looking for me and then you…” He trailed off as you finished your mouthful.
“I was. But then I got hungry.” You mumbled. Buck chuckled and gestured to his car.
“You know if you wanted to. We could go get some food somewhere?” He offered. You nodded and ate on the way to the car, tossing the wrapper into a bin you passed. Getting in the car you sank into the seat and stared ahead. There was an awkward silence as Buck drove.
“So urm. Where did you want to go?” Buck asked. You thought about it and then listed several kinds of food you’d been craving. When he stopped at a red light Buck stared at you for a while before nodding slowly. He turned towards a small supermarket. “I figure we can get everything here.”
The two of you went round the supermarket. The two of you chatted about nothing important and avoided talking about what you needed to. Until May and Maddie came around the corner of an aisle. May was happy to see you and explained that Maddie was helping her find ingredients for a surprise meal for Bobby and her mum. Maddie took Buck to one side and talked to him quickly and quietly. She smiled tightly in your direction. When May was ready to continue shopping they left while Buck took your over to the cafe section after insisting on paying for everything.
“So urm…
"So… urm. You. You're pregnant?" Buck said. You stopped eating for a moment and nodded.
"Yes." You answered just as awkwardly as Buck had asked his very obvious question.
"Right." Buck muttered. The two of you sat in silence for a while before you cleared your throat.
"I tried to call. I should have… gone by the firehouse sooner." You said quietly.
"You know what we had this sunami and this crazy earthquake. I had to replace my phone because of that so I had a new number. You wouldn't have gotten through to me." Buck offered up quickly. You nodded and smiled awkwardly, picking at a loaf of soft tiger bread. There was an awkward silence that fell over the two of you before Buck frowned.
"So you were going to tell me?" He pressed. You looked guilty for a moment.
"Not at first." You admitted and looked away from him, down at the table, balling the bread in your hands into little tiny balls. "After the first few months, I tried to call. Then I moved back here two months ago and… I saw you. You were in the fire truck."
"You've been back for two months?" Buck asked. His voice cracked with pain as he blinked several times and looked over at the doors of the supermarket as of he wanted very much to bolt from the building.
"My job fell through." You said quietly and he nodded.
"Hen said something about that." He said and cleared his throat trying to move the lump that formed as he thought about everything thing.
"So…" you said. Unsure what else to say.
"Do you need a ride home?" Buck asked. He had wanted to ask a million questions. How was the baby, where were you living, did you need anything, boy or girl? But now he was in the moment he wanted it to end. He'd thought it would be like talking with you before breaking up. But it was just awkward and painful. He drove you home and you gave him your number. You declined his offer to help carry the bags inside and he waited until you were safely inside.
He didn't drive home. He went to Maddie's. She found him sobbing on her sofa. So she lay down on it with him, thankful that she had let Chimney talk her into the bigger sofa she thought was a bit much. Chimney didn't say anything when he got home. Just gestured to Maddie if she needed anything and went to check on Jee-Yun who Maddie had put down for a nap after picking her up from Karen.
"I don't know what I thought would happen?" Buck said tearfully when he was finally done sobbing.
"It's ok Buck. Things will work out." Maddie said soothingly.
"How do you know that?" Buck asked defeatedly. Maddie shrugged and let Buck cry himself to sleep before getting up. Chimney was quietly making a hot drink for them both.
"Someone needs to get those to talk everything out." Chimney said quietly, handing one drink to Maddie as he led the way to their bedroom.
"It has to be awkward. They didn't exactly break up because they fell out of love." She muttered. With a sigh, the two of them resigned themselves to keeping an eye on Buck until he bounced back and figured out a way to let you know how he was feeling. They just hoped it would be sooner rather than later.

Hi!, I hope you’re doing okay I know Finals can be stressful, but I hope everything going great :).
I saw that you were doing requests again so I was wondering if we can get a fluffy fic with Buck and Reader having their wedding and Reader also announce at the wedding that she’s pregnant!
Also can you make Bobby the father of Reader :)
la vie en rose - e.b
Tumblr media
summary: request :)
evan buckley x nash!reader
a/n: thank you for the request, you guys are wicked creative and i love reading them 🩶 were 1/7 finals done so we’re getting back in the groove 💪
y/n’s hair fell down in light curls on her shoulders, her face done in light makeup. a veil fell down her back and on her white, luscious dress. the time, the money, and love put into this day had finally come to a start. and y/n and buck couldn’t be more excited.
buck could jump up and down at the thought of her having his last name. his last name will on her license, her cards, their kids, next to hers. he could explode from excitement when he looks at the stupendous ring that he picked out. y/n looked at hers the same way, the silver band with minute gems on the middle screamed bucks name. she didn’t want to see it anywhere else but on his left hand.
marriage is a vast milestone in one’s life. the second buck, who proposed in an incredible buck way, got down on one knee, he knew he made the right choice. the rest of his life was meant to be with this woman. and he knew the rest of his life with her would be the best of his life.
standing in front of each other at the ceremony, being an emotional man who just can’t get enough love, bucks eyes welled up with tears the second he saw her flashing smile and radiant eyes. she looked absolutely heavenly, as always, but something was particularly different this time. the bewitching scenery around them and the aesthetic venue has perfectly made the night. watching y/n walk down the isle with her father, bobby, linked arm to arm with her made bucks already massive heart grow ten sizes.
bobby was always buck’s second father. he was there for him always, giving him proper guidance and acceptance that buck always needed growing up. when his own dad couldn’t do that for him, bobby picked up the pieces. bobby couldn’t be happier. his daughter was so happy with buck, and that’s all he wanted for the both of them. having bobby as a mentor made buck a better person, and bobby as a father made y/n the perfect daughter.
y/n’s own tears begin to rise into her eyes when she sees buck, dressed neatly in his black suit. eddie was standing next to him with christopher and a few of bucks good friends. maddie had stood in her alluring bridesmaids dress. y/n and maddie connected so well, and seeing buck perk up whenever she came into a room made maddies heart soar of happiness and delight.
they stood before the officiator, who was reading off things to buck that were almost nonsense. he had memorized everything, as he knew that her beauty would capture him and he couldn’t process anything else.
“i, evan buckley,” buck says. “take you, y/n y/l/n as my lawful wife.”
“to have and to hold, for better or for worse,” y/n speaks gently, locking eyes with her soon-to-be husband.
“in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish.”
“until death do us part,” they finish off their traditional vows and look to the guests. maddie is bawling her eyes out, trying not to make a peep. bobby is better at hiding his tears, hand in hand with athena as he sits in front row, watching his little girl become a wife. eddie and chimney have a smile wider than the horizon and hen and her wife watch in admiration of the couple. ravi, had been quietly cheering in the front row as well, cooling down his ‘life of the party’ personality until the end of the ceremony.
before the priest can finish his sentence about the first kiss, buck grabs the back of y/n’s neck and pulls her into a deep kiss, placing his other hand on her hip. they’ve kissed more times than they can count, but sparks will forever fly every time. this one is particularly special, for it commemorates the rest of their lives together.
the newlyweds step down and walk back down the isle while holding hands and sniffling shamelessly.
the after party was sick, open bars and decor with the live band. the first dance was magical, everyone feeling the love from buck and y/n radiate through the huge room. the circular tables were placed throughout the room, with the entire 118 at one table. they’d formed one table, and the buckleys had intentionally put all their friends name tags around one table. the caterers at the wedding had set up everywhere, and they couldn’t imagine a better night.
chimney came back with ravi and bobby, all of them hauling several drinks over, handing the biggest ones to y/n and buck. “for the husband and wife!” bobby says, placing the cocktails down in front of them. y/n stared at the drinks in front of her, trying to figure out how to get out of this situation. she’s never been one to back out, which kind of alarmed the rest of the team.
y/n had been experiencing extreme fatigue for the past few weeks, and the concern of her health was so important to her. she wasn’t sure if her dad could take the loss of another child. she had been the only one to survive the fire, and the two of them were left to fend off of each other. her pregnancy was quite random, her and buck were getting married in just a few weeks. y/n didn’t know how she was going to hide it, but eventually, the anxiety was drowned out by excitement. they knew they wanted a family, it just happened sooner than they thought.
“oh, i’m alright, ravi,” she politely declines, causing confusion from her husband and her friends.
“c’mon, y/n! it’s your wedding day!” hen cheers on, pushing the drink back closer to her.
“yeah, you ok?” buck asks, quietly to not make his new wife overwhelmed.
“guys, really,” y/n smiles, looking down at her hands. “i’m fine, just not in a drinking mood.”
“you’re allowed to have a drink, y/n. you never get this day back,” bobby encourages her to have one to celebrate the new chapter in her life, but the new addition is more important.
“no, i’m not allowed to.”
everyone looks at her like she has ten heads, surprised that she’s not going all out on her wedding night.
“i cant because i’m pregnant,” she finishes, looking at buck first. his mouth was wide open, his chin on the floor.
“s-sorry, what?” she looks at bucks nervous face and nods. “oh! oh, my god?” he kisses her again, not knowing any other words to describe how he feels. hen let’s out a sharp squeal, before jumping up into y/n’s arms, almost knocking her out of the chair. maddie, who no one thought could cry so much, starts sobbing even more because her little brother became a husband and a parent in one day. y/n makes eye contact with her teary-eyed father, clutching hands with his own wife.
hen pulls away, and y/n says, “dad?”
“i, i don’t know what to say, y/n. other than i’m proud of you. and you’ve been the perfect daughter, and you’re going to be the perfect mom.”
“to your grandchild!” chimney pokes fun at bobby, who sips his club soda.
“don’t remind me, chim,” he says jokingly pointing out his age.
y/n and buck can’t peel their eyes away, and buck finds his hand migrating to her current no-bump stomach. “i love you so much, thank you, thank you!” buck says, over and over again.
“i love you to the moon, darling. i picked the best man, and i know you’ll be the best dad,” y/n grins, her cheeks becoming sore from the repeated smiles. “i still can’t believe you’re not a dream.”
