a/n: what tswift album do u guys think the 118 are 🤭 also what happens to yn is inspired by an episode of s19 that i love sm it’s so funny :))
buck knew the second y/n got pregnant that he wasn’t leaving. two years of dating is a short time to have a child, but they loved each other more than anyone. they knew they could give a child a good life, so they went with it.
all three of them moved to la, so buck could work with the LAFD and y/n could get to a higher position at work. their life there was immaculate. their little family was thriving, so buck put a ring on her finger. he didn’t even hesitate to buy the biggest one he saw, because he loved y/n the second he met her, and he emotionally couldn’t wait anymore. the words husband and wife rang in his ears, making him drop a dumbfounded grin.
no one at work knew, he didn’t really know what they thought of him. his team knew he was too fine to not have anyone, so they figured he was just with some girls here and there. the last thing they expected was a child and a fiancé along with it. it never came up in conversation, but buck still didn’t bother. he didn’t want to face any judgement from people that he didn’t already get from his family. the constant scrutiny about his age and his girl was exhausting.
now, neither of them would’ve changed it for the world. buck can’t imagine himself happier or in a life without them. it hurts him to even consider what would happen if y/n and his little boy weren’t there. he always gazed at them playing, sometimes just wanting to observe their brilliance.
buck knew he would have to explain to his team that he’s married, and that doesn’t mean he’s ashamed. he wants the world to know, but he doesn’t want y/n to be hurt by opinions from other people. he didn’t realize how soon he would have to until the alarm rang and until dispatch came through with the address. it was their house. the house where buck and y/n raised their son and the one where either could be hurt. every single scenario waved over buck, making him panic more by the second.
“you good, kid?” bobby asks, taking note of his bouncing knee.
“uh.. yeah! yeah, i’m fine,” he lies. buck hasn’t been with them for more than a year, so they just pass it along, not knowing any better. buck climbs out of the truck, grabbing a few tools before sprinting toward the house. now, the teams more alarmed. what is it about this house is making him act like a maniac?
“y/n?” buck calls out, running around trying to find her.
“kitchen!” she yells out, sounded distressed which only makes buck move even quicker. when he walks in, he immediately notices her leaning over the sink, her hand in the disposal. bobby and the rest of his crew walk in behind him, the four of them standing in the kitchen staring at her. “well?”
“oh-“ bobby moves, starting to gather some more tools out of his bag.
“what the hell happened?”
“i dropped my ring down, and i was trying to make him lunch,” she nods to the baby, sitting on the floor happily, clearly having no idea what’s happening. “i don’t even know why i tried to grab it, like some idiot!”
“hey,” buck says, walking over to her and placing a hand on her shoulder. “you’ll be fine, y/s/n is fine, yeah?” she looks up at him and nods, brushing her hair with her free hand.
“should we know the kids name too?” chim asks, giving buck a completely bamboozled expression. y/n passes buck the same face as hen walks over to check her hand. buck can’t get around it this time, and he wants them to know for once.
“um, guys,” he starts. “this is my fiancé, y/n and my son.”
“your what?” hen shouts, peeking her head out from behind y/n’s shoulder. she gives hen an awkward smile and buck stands there stiffly, worried about their reaction. everyone looks around at each other in shock that buck has his own family, and they didn’t even know.
“why didn’t you tell us?” bobby wonders.
“because i didn’t know how you’d react! i’ve heard it all from my parents, i didn’t need any more.”
“buck, we would’ve welcomed you no matter what your home life is. we’d love to get to know you and your family despite how it might’ve happened,” hen tells him, kindly. buck is confronted with immediate love, something he’s not to familiar with other than when his shifts end and he’s in y/n’s arms again. he’s surprised to say the least. he expected at lease some judgement, but there was nothing of the sort in the room.
“i’m thrilled you’re all having a nice moment here,” y/n interrupts. “but can we maybe get my hand out of my sink?”
buck and bobby pull the cabinets open and start drilling at the pipes underneath. buck secures the ring in his fingers before beaming up at y/n, showing her that he found it. “i got it!” he replies excitedly. “thank god, i don’t know if i have insurance for this thing. cost me my left leg,” he whispers to bobby. once they fully disconnect the system, hen slowly drags her bloody hand out and wraps it up. she hisses at the contact of the gauze and antiseptics. chimney starts to clean up the rest of the supplies, as hen treats the wound.
“so,” chimney begins. “when’s the wedding?”
“time and place, chim,” hen tells him. “time and place. but, yeah, are we invited?”
“yes,” buck says, obviously. “you’re invited.” he moves over to scoop his baby off the ground, carrying him over to his friends. they all speak to him in their little baby voices, and y/n watches with a shining smile on her face. buck knows he did the right thing, but he wishes he didn’t wait as long. now, he is certain that he has two solid families.

Not What He's Made For
Tumblr media
Spoilers for Season 6, Episode 11
Pairing: Evan "Buck" Buckley x Reader
Warnings: Angst, mentions of pregnancy and lost pregnancy
A/N: First fic in a while, it had to be for my baby Buck. This was inspired by Billie
Main Master-List
________
Standing at the window watching as everyone gathers in his room. Buck swallows hard, seeing himself laying in the hospital bed hooked up to the ventilator, his jaw clenches with anger, an anger that no matter how hard he tries, he can't wake himself up.
Its as if the universe is playing some sick joke on him. He already talked to Daniel and the alternate version of Bobby, what more does the universe want him to learn?
Banging against the glass window “I’M HERE!” He yells over and over as the crew of the 118 slowly file out of the room. Leaving just three.
Maddie, Bobby, and Y/N,
He watches as they sit and make small talk, sometimes discussing things that the doctors and nurses have told them about Buck’s current status. After about an hour a nurse stops in to have Maddie look over some paperwork as his closest next of kin, being that their parents are still hours away from arriving at the hospital. Leaving just Bobby and Y/N.
If there ever where someone who hid their troubles well, it was Y/N.
Always seeming fine and calm in tense or hard situations as her fears screamed inside of her.
When Y/N joined the LAFD most of her previous houses would say thats what made Y/N such a good firefighter, but if you asked Y/N she would always say it was her fear that runs her life.
And when Y/N joined the 118, Bobby was the only captain who could read through her facade.
After a call where Y/N had to crawl through a collapsed building a year after she joined the 118, Bobby found her having an anxiety attack in her hospital room after the 118 had visited her after she was found in the rubble. Other time Bobby had learned to tell when Y/N was too in her head about anything.
And when Buck and Y/N had started to turn their situationship into an actual relationship Bobby helped Y/N learn how to navigate her fears when it came to seeing a fellow first responder, and he taught Buck how to help Y/N navigate her anxieties.
And slowly over time, Buck and Y/N became each other’s persons. They had been though so much together, from being almost drowned by a tusnami, being shot at, crawling out of a sinkhole, to fighting wild fires down in Texas, and now this.
A lightning strike. Something so beautiful yet as much as Y/N would normally have admired their beauty, right now she loathed the beauty of plasma.
The one shift she took off and now Buck’s life hangs in the balance.
Placing a hand on Y/N’s shoulder, Y/N turns her head away from Bobby to quickly wipe away her tears. “Comon Y/N… what’s going though your head?” Bobby prys gently.
Letting out a sigh Y/N shakes her head, finally turning to face Bobby. “Did Buck tell you we had a fight-” she correcters herself “or rather that we’ve been fighting…”
Bobby shrugs slightly “He mention you two were bickering but he didn’t say over what” he takes a seat next to Y/N.
“...The fights… the bickering, whatever you wanna call it… its part of the reason why I asked for this shift off…”
Bobby nodded his head as he listened “I get it, come back with a clear approach to everything after giving each other some space… what have you been fighting about if you don’t mind me asking”
“...Buck….. Buck thinks I don’t wanna be with him anyone…. That I’m getting tired of him, and I kept trying to tell him… show him that it isn’t the case” Y/N glances over to Buck.
“Okay… then what’s the other reason you asked for this shift off?” Bobby raised his brow.
Blowing out a breath, Y/N shakes her head.
“If you let it sit, it’s gonna fester into something more. We both know that” Bobby sits back in the chair and crosses his arms, waiting for Y/N to talk.
She knows he’s right, if she avoids talking its just gonna sit in the back of her mind and eventually come back to bite her in the ass later.
“...If I tell you this… no one else can know, you have to swear to me Bobby. No one… not Athena or Maddie or Eddie or Buck, no one.” She turns to Bobby.
“Y/N, if its serius enough you know Buck-”
“Bobby.” Y/N pleads “He can’t know”
Bobby lets out a sigh, stuck between a rock and a hard place, he eventually nods his head “It stays between us, I promise”
Slowly nodding her head, Y/N takes a deep breath and looks back at Buck one last time before she turns back to Bobby.
“... Buck and I have been fighting because he thinks I’m pulling away from him… this has been going on for the past week and a half” Y/N glances down to the floor as she continues “and I mean maybe I was a little bit like three days ago but it’s not for the reason’s Buck thinks”
Starting to pick at the loose threads of her hoodie, Y/N shakes her head and blows out a breath before glancing to the doorway of Buck’s hospital room, making sure no one other than Bobby is around to hear her before she speaks.
“... a little over two weeks ago… I found out I was pregnant” Y/N sees the shock on Bobby’s face and cuts him off before he has the chance to speak “I was gonna tell you, I swear… but anytime we were on shift it was slow, we didnt end up doing anything super dangerous… and I wanted to tell Buck before I told anyone else”
Bobby’s gaze softens as he sees Y/N close her eyes and lean back in the chair as she takes a breath before continues. “If…. If I was pulling away, it’s because I was trying to figure out how to tell Buck” He sees how Y/N keeps her eyes to the floor as she talks, a tear starts to roll down her cheek before she brings her hand up to wipe it away. “Becuase its Buck. We all know he’d make a great dad, and a great dad deserves to be told in a great way… because Buck is worth taking extra steps to plan for so I ordered this little onesie and all these balloons and a cake to surprise him… and I know he would have loved it” Bobby can hear the passion in her voice before Y/N goes quiet for a moment to compose herself before she clears her thought.
“But then… four days ago I went to the ER because I was having some cramps and light spotting… I asked my doctor about and she said it was normal” Y/N shakes her head “But I could tell… something wasn’t-” Y/N stops herself, taking a moment before she swallows hard. “And… that’s when I learned that I lost the pregnancy…” She shrugs as she tries to maintain was little composer she has left.
“They don’t know what happened… in the ER they told me that things like this just happen sometimes…” Y/N’s voice tightnes she brings her hand up to cover her face for a moment as she tries to take a few deep breaths.
“So… for the last few days… yeah I was pulling away because I had all this stuff planned and I had to figure out what to do with it now because-” her voice breaks “It was all for nothing” her shoulders shake as Bobby wraps his arms around Y/N, letting her cry on his shoulder as he glances between her and Buck with pity and sadness in his eyes.
“Y/N” He starts once she’s a bit more calmed down “This isn’t something you can hide from Buck”
Y/N just continues to shake her head “I can’t Bobby, I’ve tried-”
“Y/N”
“No I mean it” Y/N cuts him off her voice wavers a little bit “I have tried to tell him at every opportunity but i can’t… everytime i try i choke everytime.”
Pulling away from Bobby, Y/N sniffles and wipes her eyes before she glances to Buck “...I think it’d just make it worse, make it hurt more if I told him…” Y/N mumbles “he’s not made for sadness Bobby… Buck thrives on the happiness and joy… love and happiness and passion run his life… something like this?” she just stares at Buck laying in the hospital bed and the tears start to roll down her cheeks once more “it’s not was he’s made for…”
Staring at Y/N and Bobby, Buck bangs his fist against the glass one last time before he stops banging, his hand growing sore as he rests his head against the glass, his tears matching Y/N’s as all he can do it watch…
Hoping that this isn’t his forever.

a day at the zoo ~ evan ‘buck’ buckley x reader
just a little blurb about taking Christopher to the zoo
a/n: this bi little firefighter has stolen my heart, I cannot stop thinking about him, I love him so so much and now I will annoy you all with it
“Did you know tigers are the only big cats with stripes? It helps to provide camouflage in dense cover.” Buck turns away from the information board to look at both Christopher and you.
“Everyone knows that,” Christopher quips, “and we can all read.” Your involuntary giggle earns you a playful glare from Buck.
“Ohhh, ouch!” Buck places both hands over his heart like he’s in physical pain. “I think you two have spent way too much time together,” he points straight at you, “your sass is rubbing off on him.” You completely ignore Buck’s comment and turn back to Christopher.
“Just be glad you don’t get ‘Buck’s fun facts’ at all times of the day like some of us,” you say it lightheartedly, looking up at your boyfriend with a smile. You actually love it when Buck voices the little tidbits of information even when it’s at midnight and you’re trying to sleep or in the middle of a stressful shift. Buck lets out a scoff playing along with the bit as he turns and begins to walk away from you both. “Just watch out he’ll start telling that story about the tiger that escaped-”
“Again!” You both speak at the same time and Christopher at least finds your joke funny, throwing his head back and laughing. Buck stops in his tracks and turns to look at you both as you radiate pure joy.
“I heard that!” Buck calls from a few feet away and it only makes Christopher laugh even more. When you look up at Buck he’s grinning, unable to even fake being annoyed with the pair of you. “Next time we go to the zoo I’m taking Jee, she likes all my stories.” Buck adds as you both start approaching him.
“That’s ’cause she can’t talk yet.” Christopher’s quick wit never fails to amuse you, he reminds you of his father more and more everyday.
“I hope you know I actually really do love Buck’s fun facts,” you hook your arm around Buck’s and look up at him as your chin rests on his shoulder. He gives you a genuine smile before contorting in a way so he can kiss you.
“Good, ‘cause I have more.” You both chuckle and Buck’s free hand comes up to hold the side of your head, his lips placing a kiss to your temple.
“Gross.” Christopher mumbles as he passes you both, making his way to the next animal on the map. Both Buck and you laugh in disbelief before following after him. Buck makes sure when you all stop to look at the rhinos to place an over exaggerated kiss on top of Christopher’s head which he definitely doesn’t appreciate.

Take Your Time - Evan "Buck" Buckley x Reader
Tumblr media
summary: Evan Buckley is getting ready for parent-teacher interviews with the parents of his kindergarten class. He wasn't expecting to hit it off with one of them.
a/n: this is my first 9-1-1 fic (and first non-TGM one in a long time) but I had this idea and after @sarahsmi13s and I discussed it, I went with it!
pairing: teacher!Evan "Buck" Buckley x single mom!reader
warnings/content: mentions of divorce, single parent, Buck getting a crush on reader.
word count: 2k
Tumblr media
Evan Buckley let out a heavy sigh as he checked over the schedule he’d made for parent-teacher interviews. Teaching kindergarten was quite the change from the fourth and fifth graders he’d been used to, but so far, the seventeen little darlings in his class had been, for the most part, a refreshing new experience. He’d struggled initially, trying to find ways to entertain a classroom of five year olds, but after a week or two, he’d found his groove, settling in nicely in his new surroundings. The school district he’d transferred to was underfunded, a stark difference from the well-to-do private school he’d worked at for the previous three years, but, he appreciated the change - the private school circuit wasn’t for him, he’d learned, and the longer he stayed, the worse it seemed to feel staying in it.
Buck looked up at the clock and furrowed his brow. He had exactly 45 minutes before parents and caregivers would start filing in, eager to meet their son or daughter’s new teacher, probably reacting with shock or surprise to learn that a man was teaching kindergarten, like his new co-workers had done when he started. He wasn’t sure what was so strange about the concept, but for some reason, it felt like a lot of people couldn’t wrap their heads around the idea. He sighed as he got up from his desk and headed down the hallway, the sound of his footsteps echoing as he strolled down the empty corridor.
In the small staff lounge sat a few round tables and aged chairs, upholstered with vinyl and flattened padding, hardly comfortable to sit in for any length of time. On the counter sat a coffeepot that looked to be about as old as Buck was. He’d been hesitant to use it before, questioning both the sanitation and safety of it, but, if he was going to be hosting these interviews until well into the evening, he needed something to get him through the next four and a half hours. He just hoped that coffee would be strong enough.
Back at the comfortable familiarity of his desk, a mug of burnt, flavourless coffee in hand, he looks around the classroom, surveying the layout in an attempt to determine if he needed to make any last minute changes in the next twenty minutes of free time he had. He sighed, realizing there wasn’t much that could be done to improve the room with the small time-frame and limited budget. Twirling a pen between his fingers, he looked out the window, watching the clouds rolling in the California sky. Focusing his attention for a moment, he looked down at the stack of papers, neatly situated on the desk in front of him.
“Right,” he said to himself as he started sifting through the papers, ensuring each student was sorted according to the rudimentary schedule he’d made. “You’ve got this, Buck, you can handle it. A dozen and a half kindergarteners and parents. It’s fine.”
Right on cue, the first parent entered the room at 4 pm, escorting their young daughter in the doorway, ushering her to a seat. Buck stood from his seat for a handshake, awkwardly accepted by the parent. He sat back down and nodded his head. It was going to be a long night.
Tumblr media
“Alright, Holly, are you ready to for Mommy to meet your teacher?” you asked your five-year-old as you stood in the hallway outside of her classroom.
It was later in the evening, the 7:45 slot being the only one you could make work with your hectic work schedule. Holly nodded her head excitedly, tugging on your hand as she tried to pull you into the classroom. You started cycling through a dozen of scenarios in your head, each one playing out how the parent-teacher interview was going to go. You knew very little about your daughter’s teacher, admittedly. You knew a form had come home with Holly on the first day of school, introducing them, but a coffee spill later, that form ended up in the trash before you had a chance to read it.
“Holly!” her teacher smiled warmly, crinkles by his eyes softening as he looked at your daughter. “I’m Mr. Buckley,” he nodded, extending his hand out to you for a handshake. “Mr. Evan Buckley.” He laughed, his cheeks turning red.
“It’s nice to meet you, Mr. Buckley,” you smiled. His grip on your hand was firm, yet gentle. He dropped your hand after holding it a moment longer than he might’ve needed to, before taking his seat at his desk.
“Please, you can call me Evan,” He nodded, smiling as he took a seat. He gestured to the empty chairs in front of his desk, “Please, have a seat.”
Once seated, Evan folded his hands neatly over the stack of Holly’s school work. A pair of tired baby blue eyes looked at you, meeting yours with a softened expression. You could tell he’d been at the school for hours, probably wishing he’d chosen another career choice at this stage, having been stuck in this building since at least 8 am. His dark blonde hair was neatly brushed back, strands held in place with styling product. His dark green sweater accented his pale skin, cheeks rosy and pink from a little too much sun, the pale blue collar of his dress shirt laying flat against his sweater’s neckline - he somehow looked exactly how you’d imagined a male kindergarten teacher to look, and nothing at all like how you’d imagined all at once.
“Holly’s an exceptional student,” he began, nodding his head. “She’s always there to help her friends, and she’s been hard at work practicing the letters of her name. She’s been making some great attempts at writing her name.”
“She has, has she?” You beamed, looking over at Holly, who was now nodding proudly at you.
Evan produced a few sheets of paper with Holly’s name sprawled across the page in large, clumsy handwriting, on brand for a five-year-old child. He shot Holly a smile, sharing in the pride she’s showing for her work.
“It’s been a team effort, but Holly’s been able to write it by herself for a few tries. We just needed to figure out which hand she felt most comfortable trying to write with first, right Holly?” He smiled, flashing a row of perfectly straight, white teeth, a smile you’d expect to see on a poster in your dentist’s office.
Holly nodded her head in agreement as you and Evan continued to discuss Holly’s progress in school, how you’d been struggling the past six months since her dad walked out, and how you were relieved to hear that it hadn’t impacted her performance in school.
After what only felt like a few seconds of discussion, you looked over to see Holly yawning, her eyelids looking heavy with exhaustion. The clock on the wall said 8:20 pm - your meeting had gone 20 minutes over the scheduled time, and now, Holly would be getting to bed later than usual.  Quickly, you stood up, shaking hands with Evan once again.
“It was nice meeting you, thank you for being so supportive of Holly and helping her settle into school.” You started, nodding your head. “I really appreciate it.”
Tumblr media
Buck let out a sigh, the clink of metal keys against the ceramic dish on the table by the door echoing throughout his quiet apartment. It was 9pm on a Friday, and instead of going out with his friends, like most late twenty-somethings, he’d be tucked in on the couch within the next five minutes, takeout containers scattered across his coffee table. He set the paper carry bags on the counter while he rummaged around the kitchen for a clean fork. He knew he should have run the dishwasher before he left that morning, but in his hurry to make it to school early enough to allow time to set up for meeting parents all evening, he’d forgotten half a dozen things he’d planned on doing.
Settling for a plastic fork that he’d found in the back of a drawer, likely stored away from a previous takeout meal, he grabbed his food and sunk down into his couch, a heavy, exhausted sigh drawing from his lips. He began tucking into his dinner, tv remote in the other hand as he shoveled veggie fried rice into his mouth. Sports highlights droned on in the background, something about how the World Series was progressing, two teams Buck didn’t care enough about to pay attention to battling it out for the championship.
As he flipped through the channels, he found himself unable to focus his attention on anything. Well, almost anything.
The only thing his mind could focus on was the last parent interview he’d had for the night. The one with Holly’s mother - a newly single mom who was trying her best, but had to balance a hectic work life with an impending divorce and a five-year-old.
“Thank you for being so supportive of Holly and helping her settle into school, I really appreciate it.”
The woman’s voice echoed in his head, her gratitude evident on her face as she spoke. Buck couldn’t help but feel his heart swell with joy when he heard how she spoke so positively - a welcome change from the disdain and boredom he was met with from the vast majority of parents he spoke to. Blank stares and uninterested nods, “mhmm”s and a couple of “why are we even doing this? It’s kindergarten.” – but not with you.
With you, it was entirely different. Smiling and laughing as you talked, a sense of concern for you washing over Buck as he listened to your concerns about Holly’s transition into school now that your ex-husband had taken off. As he watched you talk, the prettiest set of eyes he’d ever seen fixed on him, your perfect pink lips pursing into the sweetest pout he’d ever seen as you thought, mulling over what Buck was telling you about Holly, dewy, sun-kissed skin accented beautifully by your floral print dress, a light, acid-washed denim jacket draped over your shoulders, framing your figure like a work of art.
The next morning, Buck rubbed his bleary eyes, blinking a couple of times to orient himself. He’d fallen asleep on the couch, again. It wasn’t unusual for him lately, most nights he ended up dozing off before he made it to bed, but usually, he woke up in the middle of the night, making a tired stumble up the stairs to the loft of his apartment where his bed awaited.
He frowned as he looked around the room, sunlight pouring into the living room, washing everything in a bright, golden glow. He sat up on the couch, eyes scanning the room for his phone. He reached down behind a couch cushion, pulling it out with a tired grunt as he stretched muscles that had tensed through the night. His blonde eyebrows furrowed at the time, sighing as he realized the time. He settled back down in the cushions, scrolling aimlessly on social media, trying to catch up on updates he’d missed from friends from past week.
Buck froze when he saw one of the pictures, shared last Saturday, a familiar face smiling at him from the screen. He checked who posted it –- the girlfriend of a friend of his – and his eyes widened as he saw the name of the person tagged. Confirmation that it was, in fact, you. His palms began to feel clammy as he realized you were a friend of a friend, that, if he’d gone out with his friends last weekend, he would have met you under different circumstances, shared a couple of drinks, and, maybe, invited you back to his place if you were interested.
Now, however, things were complicated.
Dating the parent of a student wasn’t entirely forbidden, was it?

hello!! i hope you’re doing well ❤️ i saw you were taking requests and i wondering if you’d write a buck fic where him and the reader are having a stay in date and he puts on a horror movie thinking they’ll get scared and cuddle up to him but he’s the one who gets scared and they’re completely unphased, maybe even laughing at it, so it’s him who needs comfort. if you don’t get to this, ofc no issue. i just hope you have a lovely day/evening 🥰
Amused (Buck x GN!Reader)

GIF BY @cinematicnomad - masterlist
A/N: thank you for the request anon <3 i hope this is up to your standards, friend! also i apologize for not naming the movie, i don’t really watch movies :’)
WARNINGS: fluff.
Buck opened the front door to your house and quickly used his body to open it completely, a few plastic grocery bags in each of his fists. “I’m home!”
You peak your head out from the kitchen and give him a soft smile. You love how he refers to your house as home, despite having his own apartment. “In here! Did’ya get the popcorn?”
Buck snorts and makes his way to the kitchen, grunting quietly as he places the bags on the nearby counter. He looks at you with a smirk. “Of course I did. Can’t have a movie night without popcorn, now can we?” He said with amusement in his tone, taking items out of the bag and placing them on to the empty counter space next to the bags.
“No, no we cannot.” You murmur as you come up behind him, wrapping your arms around his torso. You press the side of your face and your body against his back, humming quietly from Buck’s body heat. You feel him naturally lean against you as he sorts the items on the counter. “You’re warm,” You mutter, pushing your face harder against his shirt. Buck chuckles and grabs the boxes of popcorn bags, glancing over his shoulder in an attempt to look at you. “You always say that.”
“Well, it’s true!” You laugh as you let go, snatching the boxes from him. Buck isn’t phased in the slightest, you have quite good slight of hand. He bends down to a low cabinet and he takes out this very large orange bowl you usually use to hand out Halloween candy in. You look at him and raise your eyebrow as you open a popcorn box, taking a package out. Buck laughs at your expression, sliding the bowl on to the counter near the microwave; near you, of course. You sigh and open the microwave, popping the first package inside of it and you shut the door, setting the timer and hitting start. You glance at the bowl and look back at him with more amusement. “Are you sure we’ll finish such a big bowl?”
Buck playfully scoffs and faces you, a shit eating grin on his face. “I’m a growing boy, y’know!”
“You’re 30.”
“So?”
You blink and start to laugh, grabbing on to the counter. Buck’s lips curl up into a smile, watching you lose yourself in a fit of laughter. Your laughter dies into a soft giggle before you turn to the fridge, opening it and grabbing two beers. “Usually I would want soda to set the mood, but I think we deserve a couple of beers tonight.”
Buck hums in response as begins to put away the rest of everything he had bought for the next weeks meals. “You think so?”
You smile and open the microwave after it beeped, signaling it’s done. You grab the corner of the popcorn bag and tear it open, dumping the steaming and pre-buttered popcorn into the bowl. “Yeah, I do.”
After a few minutes of popping multiple bags of popcorn, Buck makes a loud groan as he falls back onto the couch next to you, bowl of popcorn in his arm, wrapping the other around you. He grins at you, pure excitement in his eyes as he makes eye contact with you. “Are you ready to watch the scariest movie of your life?” He teases, situating the bowl partially on his leg, partially on yours. You laughs and wrap an arm around his torso, leaning into his warm body. His hand squeezes your shoulder and Buck kisses your temple. “Sure, sure..” You tease, grabbing the remote.
You turn the TV on and select a horror movie, pressing play.
——————————
Buck truly thought you would be snuggling up to him, a trace of fear in your tone every time you spoke.
He could never so wrong.
“sHit!” He yells, his hand suddenly grabbing your shirt. The bowl of popcorn now in your lap as you shove handfuls in your mouth. You laugh and swallow some popcorn, glancing at him. “Wait- you’re scared?” You ask, your face and tone filled with amusement. “Fucking Evan Buckley, the man who literally walks through FIRES every week is scared of a little movie?”
Buck stutters, a nervous laugh leaving him. “What? I’m not sCar- wHAT IS THAT?!” He yells loudly, leaning into your body instead of the other way around. You throw your head back and let out a echoing laugh, one of your hands slapping the couch as you can’t contain yourself. “It’s not funny!” He screeches, scrambling for the remote to pause it. You let out a wheeze laugh and close your eyes, tears brimming at your lash lines due to laughing. “Okay!” You giggle, clearing your throat as you look at him. Your laughter begins to die down. “Okay, it’s not funny..!”
You make a blank expression for a split second and then you begin to crack up, your head reeling back so fast that the thought of whiplash vaguely comes to mind. Buck’s cheeks tint pink from semi-embarrassment and he grumbles, pushing you gently and playfully. “Yeah, yeah, laugh all you want..”
You keep giggling as you ignore him pushing you and you move the bowl from your lap, wrapping your arms around Buck and pulling him into your chest. “Sorry, I know, it’s just so fucking funny, babe,” You say with a smile on your lips. Buck childishly mocks your tone as he wraps his arms around you, immediately relaxing. You rub his back before trailing up to scratch his scalp. “It’s not real, Buck. It’s fine.”
He hums in appreciation, closing his eyes to completely enjoy the moment. You snort and murmur, “Let’s just hope you remember to keep the closet door shut.”
His eyes shoot open and look at you, narrowing, yet he’s letting out a laugh. “[Name]!”

Prompt - ‘Now this is an open-shut case I guess I should've known from the look on your face.’
Tumblr media
Whenever Buck was around things were just easier. He made everything around him lighter, always there with a warm smile and would do anything for anyone. It hadn’t taken long for the two of you to become friends, to be inseparably joined at the hip. It wasn’t just that you worked well together, able to read each other without needing words, you were close once the shift ended, whereas most people who spent as much time as you did with your colleagues would part ways, you and Buck left together and spent hours at each other's side.
You knew that your feelings for Buck went deeper than just friendship, it was obvious to anybody looking at the pair of you that you were half way in love with the man. It was also painfully obvious that Buck was right there with you but you couldn’t see it, not even when the others told you about the way Buck looked at you, not even when they insisted that the two of you would be perfect together.
When you looked at Buck you couldn't see how he felt, sure he was all soft smiles and gentle touches but he was the same with all his friends. You couldn’t guess from the look on his face that he could want more than what you had.
You often found yourself getting lost around Buck, gazing at him whilst he spoke as you tried to see what the others claimed was obvious but you never could. Occasionally you thought something could have been there, some longing glance or adoring look but you always shook your head, convincing yourself that you were just seeing what you wanted to see.
You were content with what you had though, you had to be otherwise it would drive you crazy, you had to be because if you weren’t it meant you’d mess up what you already had with Buck and you couldn’t do that. You’d rather silently pine whilst dreaming about what it would be like to love Buck and be loved back than not have him around at all.
It drove the others crazy that neither of you could see what could be, how easy it would be for the two of you to have one little conversation that would lead to so much happiness. They'd watched you and Buck from day one, seen the way your eyes were immediately drawn to him as Bobby introduced you to the team, saw the way Buck jumped at every opportunity to show you around and helped you with the copious amounts of chores given to you as a probie.
The two of you were perfect for each other, you could go from bantering and teasing into deep and meaning conversations, you were capable of getting Buck to let down his walls, him telling you things he had never shared with anyone before, likewise Buck was probably the person on the planet who knew you best. Whilst it was tempting to shake the two of you by the shoulders until you saw sense or lock you in a room until things were resolved everybody knew that you and Buck had to do this alone, with or without their intervention it was pretty much guaranteed that you two would get together.
It wasn’t just in the way you and Buck could flip between serious and playful when the situation called for it. It was the way you would take one look at Buck, needing only a second to scan his features, before you disobeyed Bobby’s direct orders and followed Buck into a burning building, trusting his judgement and following where he went without a second thought, knowing you’d follow him wherever he went for as long as he’d have you whether it was into his car on the way home or into the flames. It was the way he wrapped his arm around you so casually drawing you closer to him, the way his hand squeezed yours so softly in the truck whenever he could see a call had affected you. It was the way you sat on the counter as you watched him dance around as he spent hours cooking a meal just for the two of you. It was the little moments that would be so meaningless to others that you held close, that made you fall further and further for Buck.
There were so many times you’d just wanted to beg him to show you he felt the same, beg him to take your hand and never let go. You were content with what you had but you could selfishly want more too.
Despite the fact that both of you wanted so badly, nothing happened between the two of you for years, long painful years filled with the most beautiful memories. By this point you knew it was love, there wasn’t another word for the rush of emotions you still felt whenever Buck smiled at you, whenever you watched him scoop Christopher up to greet him, when you watched him punch at the bags in the gym, when he held you in his arms, it was love.
The others liked to joke that it would take a miracle for you and Buck to finally see that you had practically been dating for all this time. It seemed the universe agreed with the sentiment of wanting you and Buck together but instead of a miracle it gave you a tragedy instead.
It was a call that sounded bad from the get-go and by the time you rolled up to the scene the fire was out of control, already engulfing the two buildings to the side of it. If it was bad outside it was even worse inside. Obviously you were used to feeling the heat of the flames way too close for comfort, it was the job after all, but something about this one felt different, the flames engulfed everything around them, the ceiling was collapsing in on each floor, cutting off exits. Smoke was thick in the air as you made your way through the building, Buck ahead of you as he cleared the way before helping you through.
In the distance a floor or two up you could hear a child crying hysterically, choking on tears and smoke but at least they were still breathing. You and Buck didn’t know how much time you had but it wasn’t long so the two of you tried to work your way upwards, the stairs not an option anymore. You made it up one floor, the sweat pouring off both of you when the radios cracked to life.
“118, evacuate the building.” Bobby’s voice called through and Buck’s head whipped around to look at you, his eyes shifting from yours to the ceiling, the child’s cries closer now. “I repeat evacuate the building, it’s been declared too unstable, it’s going to crumble any moment.”
You and Buck stayed silent, gazes locked on each other for a few seconds as the rest of the team confirmed they were moving out.
“Buck, Y/N, come in.” Bobby called and Buck shook his head.
“What do you want to do?” You asked him, knowing already what his answer would be. Neither of you would be able to leave without at least trying.
“I’m not leaving.” Buck told you and you nodded that was all you needed and you gestured for him to carry on. “Y/N/N, you gotta leave.”
“Not happening, Buck. Hurry, we don't have long.” You told him, seeing the wide eyed soft look he was giving you behind his helmet and any other time you’d be lost in that expression, thinking it over and over but right now wasn’t the time.
“Take my hand.” Buck said as he struggled over the rubble, holding a hand out to help you and you slid your hand into his palm, even with the heavy uniform you couldn’t help but savour the moment.
Bobby’s voice called through the radio again and as you and Buck headed towards the crying child you listened to Buck arguing with him, refusing to leave before turning the radio off completely.
“If we get out of here alive Bobby’s gonna kill you for that.” You told him and couldn't help the pull of your lips as he laughed before pulling himself up another floor, using the rubble to help him.
“Yeah probably but what else is new?” He grinned, holding his hand out again for you and you let him help you pull you up.
The whole building seemed to shake and Buck grabbed onto your arms, pulling you closer as you waited for something to happen, neither of you breathing until a few seconds passed and the building just about stayed standing.
The sound of the child’s screeching cries snapped you back into action, both of your heads turning right in the direction before Buck let go of you with a nod. You nodded back and followed after him with careful steps, keeping your eyes on Buck and desperately trying to focus on him and not the building that was minutes away from collapsing.
“I got her!” Buck called as he climbed through the rubble and picked the child up, she couldn’t have been more than four, her face red and tear stained as more flooded down her cheeks. “C’mere kid, I gotcha.”
Buck picked the girl up and she went willingly, clinging to Buck’s neck as he walked back over to the pile of rubble blocking the room.
“Hey, I’m gonna pass you to my friend, is that alright? She’s real nice and she’ll take care of you.” Buck murmured to the girl and you couldn’t help but smile as he pried her fingers off him and gently passed her through the gap he had made. “That’s it, you got her.”
Just as you took the girl from him the building gave another violent shake that had you and Buck freezing again, the girl letting out a cry as she buried her head against your coat. This shake was worse than the one earlier and lasted longer and you felt sick to your stomach as you kept your eyes on Buck. Buck went to say something, you could see his mouth opening before he frowned and looked up just as the building shook again and before you could even register what was happening Buck had disappeared from view and where he had stood was now filled with rubble.
You were frozen to the spot for a few seconds before you let out a shuddering breath, head shaking as tears filled your eyes.
“Buck!” You yelled, knowing it was wrong but you placed the girl against the opposite wall and began trying to dig your way through the rubble, desperately calling Buck’s name as you struggled against the heavy pieces of ceiling.
“Buck please, come on!” You sobbed before snatching your radio from your coat and calling for Bobby.
“Y/N, what happened? The two of you need to get out of there now!” Bobby ordered but you shook your head, tears falling down your cheeks as you struggled to breath. “Y/N!”
“Bobby,” You choked out, “Bobby I’ve got a kid here but I can’t, I can’t leave him, Bobby, please.”
You would be surprised if Bobby could make out your words, your breath coming out in quick panicked gasps and you were choking on tears as you let the radio go to keep trying to dig through the rubble, making no progress, every time you moved one piece three more seemed to fill its place.
The radio was silent for a few moments before Bobby’s voice came through again.
“Stay where you are, I'm coming in.” Bobby told you and before the radio cut off you could hear somebody protesting but you didn’t care. Bobby would come in and get the girl and you knew you weren’t leaving without Buck.
The flames were closing in and you knew you didn’t have long left. From below you could hear footsteps and you looked towards the room Buck was trapped in and the flames quickly creeping towards the opening you’d used to get onto this floor.
You picked the girl up again and ran over to the opening, already seeing Bobby, Chimney and Eddie coming towards you, putting out as many of the flames as they could. You were already lowering the girl down and Chimney was quick to grab her but you didn’t stick around after that, you were instantly back at the pile of rubble, gloved hands desperately trying to free Buck.
“Buck, Buck please, please I need you. I can’t lose you, not you.” You sobbed out, pleading with anyone who would listen to just let Buck be ok. There was so much left unsaid between the two of you and you promised yourself you’d tell him everything, you’d tell him you loved him, tell him you didn’t ever want to picture your life without him at your side, you tell him everything if you got the chance to.
You hadn’t even heard Bobby and Eddie join you until you saw their hands dragging rubble away too. The building gave another shake but this time you didn’t freeze, you kept digging, kept pleading, kept sobbing. You needed to get Buck out.
Finally, finally, you managed to get into the room. The ceiling had caved in, crashing down into the room and bringing furniture from upstairs through with it. It was bad but thankfully not bad enough that you couldn’t move around the room. Your eyes found Buck immediately, trapped underneath a piece of rubble, a cut on his head was bleeding and his eyes were closed.
Between the three of you, you managed to free Buck from the rubble, you couldn’t see if he was more injured than just the head wound with the coat covering him but you prayed that he was fine, he had to be because you didn’t know what you’d do if he wasn’t.
The building was shaking now, the foundation ready to crumble and Bobby and Eddie wasted no time in lifting Buck between them and quickly but carefully carried him from the building. Just as Buck was being loaded into the ambulance you heard a rumble and glanced behind you just in time to see the building cave in on itself, the two next to it following in suit.
You didn’t care though, just climbed into the ambulance next to Buck and sat still as you watched the paramedics assess him. Silent tears made their way down your face but you couldn’t stop the choked sob that escaped you when they took his coat off and saw a blood soaked shirt underneath.
The paramedic cut the shirt off to reveal a wound that was still bleeding, the blood seemingly just pouring out. It looked like a piece of the rubble or something else that had fallen through when the ceiling had managed to practically slice him deeply from his stomach across to just above his hip.
“Is he gonna be ok?” You asked and the paramedic shot you a look before getting to work on cleaning and trying to stop the bleeding.
It was still bleeding when you got to the hospital.
They rushed him into surgery as soon as he was out of the ambulance and you followed him into the hospital, told to wait in the waiting room. You didn’t know what you were supposed to do so you did nothing, you stood where they had left you, people moving around you like you were nothing more than a ghost, only able to stand and stare at the doors Buck had been taken behind.
You had no idea how long you stood there, still as a statue with tears falling down your face, but eventually there was a hand on your shoulder. You still didn’t move but you at least registered when Bobby moved to stand in front of you, his own eyes teary but ever the leader he didn’t let them fall, not whilst his team needed him.
“Come on, there’s a room for us to wait in.” Bobby told you softly but you barely heard the words, they sounded like you were underwater, drowning in fear and panic and you could do nothing but wait and see if you’d sink or swim.
Bobby gently took your hand in his and you let him lead you through the halls of the hospital, paying no attention to your surroundings. The rest of the team were already in the room, looking up when you entered but you barely even saw them. Bobby just shook his head and led you to one of the seats, softly pushing you into it before taking the seat next to you.
You didn’t know how long you had sat there, staring ahead but not seeing anything, your thoughts racing, picturing a million and one different scenarios. There were so many things you wanted to say, needed to say. If something happened to Buck, if the worst case scenario happened and he didn’t know you loved him, it would haunt you for the rest of your life.
Bobby’s hand periodically squeezing yours in a gentle but firm grip was the only thing keeping you grounded to reality. Hours passed by without you noticing, no doctors had entered the private waiting room the team had been given. No news was good news though you supposed, it at least meant that Buck was still alive and that was all you could ask for right now.
Eventually though somebody did interrupt the silence, a tired looking doctor entered the room and everyone was immediately on their feet, not daring to breathe as they waited to hear the verdict.
“Mr Buckley made it through the surgery successfully,” the doctor told you all and there was a collective sigh of relief throughout the room, your hand squeezing Bobby’s tightly. “We were able to stop the bleeding and stitch up the wound on his stomach.”
“So he’s going to be ok?” Eddie asked and you felt your heart stop as the doctor was silent for a beat too long. “He’s gonna be ok, right?”
“The wound on the stomach won’t be an issue. It’s the head wound we’re worried about. After taking scans we can see swelling but won’t be able to determine how serious it is until Mr Buckley wakes up.” The doctor said and you felt a fresh wave of tears fill your eyes.
“And when will he wake up?” Bobby asked, glancing at you out of the corner of his eye  before focusing on the man.
“I can’t say for sure, it could be a matter of hours or it could be days.” The doctor informed you honestly and you took a shaky breath, speaking for the first time in hours.
“Can we see him?” You asked, voice cracking on the words and you felt Bobby’s thumb brush along your skin comfortingly.
“I’m afraid only one of you will be allowed in the room with him and visiting hours will be over in an hour.” The doctor said before giving the group directions to Buck’s room and excusing himself.
“Go on then, Y/N/N.” Eddie said, causing you to look over at him with a frown but before you could say anything he spoke again. “He’d want it to be you.”
You were silent for a few moments, looking around at the rest of the team who smiled and nodded at you and you suddenly felt a huge burst of love for these people who had become your family. When you turned to Bobby he smiled softly down at you before giving your hand one last squeeze and letting go.
“Thank you.” You managed to choke out before leaving the room and following the doctor's directions.
You had to pause outside of his room before you could enter, looking in through the window at Buck in the bed. He looked peaceful, he didn't look like he was in pain, paler than he should have been and a line of stitches trailing up into his hairline from his forehead.
You took another shaky breath before forcing your feet forward and into the room, sitting down on the edge of the only chair placed next to the bed and taking Buck’s hand in yours carefully.
“I don’t know if you can even hear me,” You said after a long beat of silence where you could only run your eyes across his features. “But if you can, I really need you to wake up, Buck, because I can’t lose you. You’re the best thing in my life and the thought of you not being here with me-”
You cut yourself of with a choked sob, leaning forward until your forehead rested against your joined hands. For so long it had been you and Buck, inseparable, the closest of friends, never seeing one without the other. Of course in your line of work it was always a possibility that something would happen but you tried to ignore it, until moments like this, until you couldn’t anymore. You knew full well you were all in with Buck, in it until the end, just like how you knew that if you hadn’t been able to get him out of that building before then you wouldn’t have left either.
“You have to come back to me because there’s so much I need to tell you, so much I should have already said but I couldn’t but we don’t know what’s gonna happen and we should take every chance we can to be happy, right? And it’s you Buck, it’s always been you who makes me happy. It’s always been you.” You told him, knowing he couldn’t hear you but still it felt good to say it out loud. “Because I love you, Buck. I knew from the moment I met you that one day it would be love.”
You didn’t say more than that, you couldn’t bring yourself to speak through the tears and quiet sobs. Time seemed to pass too quickly because before you knew it a nurse was knocking on the door, giving you a sympathetic smile as she told you visiting hours were over.
You nodded at her and stood up, wiping at your cheeks and ignoring the way more tears replaced them and instead leaned down to place a kiss to Buck’s cheek, letting yourself linger there for a few seconds before pulling away with a whispered goodbye. Once you left the room you only managed to get to the end of the hallway before your knees gave out and sobs wracked your body.
You never hit the floor though, strong arms wrapped around you and pulled you into a chest, fingers carding through your hair. You couldn’t make out what the voice was saying but you could feel the rumbles. You couldn’t see through the tears but that didn't matter, the arms felt safe and your hand came up to clutch at a shirt.
You didn’t remember moving but you felt yourself being sat down on a chair and brought deeper into a pair of arms. You couldn’t say how long you sat like that for before the sobs turned into shuddering breaths and the world started to come back to you.
“There you go, that’s it, just breathe.” The voice was saying and you pushed away from the chest when you recognised it as Bobby’s voice. “You’re ok, take it easy.”
“What are you still doing here?” You managed to choke out, voice hoarse from how much crying you’d done today.
“I wasn’t going to leave you alone. I already called Athena and told her I’d be staying with you tonight, you wouldn’t mind the company would you?” Bobby asked and again you felt so much love fill you because you had no doubt that if it wasn’t Bobby insisting on being her for you it would be one of the others.
“Thank you.” You told him sincerely, nodding your head whilst desperately trying to choke back more tears. “Seriously Bobby, thank you.”
“It’s what families are for.” Bobby shrugged like it was no big deal but both of you knew how meaningful it was, this team who had become a family, who loved each other so deeply meant everything.
Since you’d rode in the ambulance and Bobby had followed behind in the truck, Bobby ordered the two of you an Uber, waiting outside in the cool air for it to arrive. It wasn’t long before you were home, taking a shower because the smell of smoke and fire clung to your skin.
It felt wrong to be here when Buck was still at the hospital, he should be here with you, but there was nothing more you could do tonight. Tomorrow you’d be back at his side bright and early until you were forced to leave again but for right now you let Bobby gently push you onto the couch and press a warm mug into your hands.
It went on like that for days, you were at the hospital every day and Bobby sorted the time off for you back at the station. You didn’t think you could pull yourself back to work if you tried, the thought of doing the job without Buck at your side was unthinkable.
Bobby had taken to picking you up every night from the hospital, it was an unspoken arrangement, you just left Buck’s room and the man was always there waiting for you. Each night he took you to his and Athena’s, who welcomed you with open arms and a warm meal that they both made sure you ate, knowing full well you weren't eating at the hospital.
It was on the fifth day that things changed, two days after hearing doctors murmur about their concerns of Buck not waking up yet, five days of sitting at Buck’s side for hours on end, talking away about anything and everything just to fill the silence.
On the fifth day you entered Buck’s room the minute the hospital allowed visitors and took up your regular seat, taking his hand in yours before placing a soft kiss to the back of his. It was how you started every morning visit. The first few hours nothing happened and then just after twelve you heard a groan fall from Buck’s lips, your head snapping up at the noise.
You stared at Buck, wide eyed and not daring to blink as if it would ruin any chance of him waking up. It took a while but you watched as Buck’s face scrunched up before he swallowed heavily, tilting his head to the side and shifting to get comfortable before he finally managed to force his eyes open.
When he saw you you were already crying, silent tears trailing down your cheeks as you smiled at him in relief.
“What happened?” Buck managed to slur out before he started coughing with how dry his throat felt and you wasted no time pouring water into a cup and holding it to Buck’s lips. “Are you ok?”
You couldn’t help but laugh softly at the question, here Buck was finally waking up after five days of recovering, stitches on his head and stomach after being crushed by rubble and he was asking if you were ok.
God, you loved him.
“Are you ok?” You asked instead, watching as his lips twitched upwards. “Are you in pain? Should I get a doctor? I should definitely get a doctor.”
You went to stand but Buck stopped you, tightening his grip on your hand and keeping you in place. You turned back to face him and that’s when you saw it. It was the look, the one the others kept telling you about, the one with soft eyes filled with love and adoration, the one with a smile that to most people wouldn’t seem particularly special but if you knew what you were looking for you could see it was so important. It was the look and you were finally seeing it, you couldn’t convince yourself you were looking into it too much, couldn’t convince yourself your mind was playing tricks on you because it was right in front of you and it was beautiful.
“Don’t go.” Buck murmured, his voice hoarse and not able to go above a whisper but you heard the plea clearly anyway. “Just…just stay with me.”
“Nowhere else I’d rather be.” You told him honestly, squeezing his hand and not able to look away from his face.
Eventually you were able to snap yourself out of trance you regularly seemed to get lost in around Buck, long enough so that you could fill him in on what had happened and how long he’d be out of it. As you spoke Buck never lost that soft look, never once let his eyes wander away from you and it took all your strength to bite your tongue and not tell Buck how you felt.
Until you realised that you didn’t have to do that anymore. You had promised yourself you’d tell Buck and maybe half an hour after he’d woken up from a five day slumber wasn’t the best time but suddenly you felt the overwhelming urge to do it, feeling like you couldn’t wait another day.
“What’s wrong?” Buck asked, his attention solely on you so he noticed the shift in your features, the slight crease in between your eyebrows, the way your head tilted as you looked at him but your mind was clearly somewhere else.
“I thought you were gonna die.” You forced out around the sudden lump in your throat, frown deepening because those weren’t the words you meant to say. “I thought you were gonna die and I was so scared. Once that rubble came down so did so many regrets, so many things I wanted to tell you but I was too scared to but then you were gone and I needed you to know them because you couldn’t die without knowing.”
“Knowing what?” Buck asked softly, already guessing where this was going, already feeling warmth spreading through his chest at the chance that you felt the same way he had, that he hadn’t been pining alone.
“Without knowing that seeing you is the highlight of my day, without knowing that any day I let pass without talking to you, it just isn’t a good day. Without knowing how deeply I care about you, without knowing that I trust you more than anyone, that I’d follow you wherever you went. You were lying here and I didn’t know if you were going to wake up and the one thing above everything that I needed you to know is that I am so in love with you.” You told him, not taking your eyes off him and watching his face soften even more if it were possible, watching as his eyes watered slightly but he managed to keep any tears from falling.
“Y/N,” he breathed out, unable to say anything for a moment but you weren’t worried, you didn’t take it as a bad sign, you couldn’t, not now that you’d seen that look.
You had to curse yourself slightly because how had you missed that look, it had been years of Buck looking at you like that and you’d missed it. If you had seen that look so long ago any questions regarding Buck’s feelings for you would have been an open-shut case, you would have known from the look on his face that he wanted you as much as you wanted him.
“I’ve wanted to hear that for so long, wanted to tell you that for so long because it’s true, I love you more than I thought I could love anyone. For so long I didn’t think I was capable of loving somebody like I love you, I thought I was too messed up from everything. But then I met you and, Y/N/N I knew from the moment I met you that you were going to be so important. I should have told you years ago but I couldn’t see how somebody like you could feel the same way. But I love you, Y/N, I love you so, so much.” Buck told you, the two of you smiling at each other with matching grins, so happy it was almost too much but you both basked in the feeling.
And everyone was right, nothing changed when the two of you started dating. You came into work together and left together, you stayed over at each other's places until you had found yourself all but moved into Buck’s place already and it just became second nature to call his place home. The only difference was now there were no secret feelings, no wishful, longing glances. Now you could say that’s my man and Buck could take your hand in his, now you kissed Buck whenever you wanted just because you could and neither of you took a day together for granted, not when you had spent so many years pining where you could have been together so now you made sure to savour each day.

Evan Buck Buckley x Female Reader
Request - Buck finding out the girl he’s been watching in old interviews who was in the military an was known for being a sniper but having the calmest heart rate while doing so an was best friends with Eddie.
Tumblr media
Buck can't sleep and it's late then he sighed, now he is watching videos on his phone. He stopped on a video and he developed a crush on the sniper then he starts to search more videos of her. He is impressed that she is a sniper and has other skills, so he searched for her profile on Instagram. Buck is starting to like a few pictures and he pressed the follow button. But eventually, he put his phone down and went to sleep.
The next day, at work he drank some energy drinks to be awake. On his lunch break, he starts to watch more videos of you. In some videos, you talked about stuff besides the military.
“You have been on your phone all day. Who are you texting?” Eddie said.
“I’m not texting anyone. I'm watching videos of the best sniper and she is really cute” Buck smiled.
“Show me,” Eddie said.
Buck showed him the video and he starts to smile. But Eddie doesn't tell him that he knows you, but Buck starts to talk about you.
“So you have a crush on her?” Eddie asked.
“I guess, I do. I'm following her on Instagram and I liked a few pictures” Buck said.
“Did you slide into her DMs?” Eddie asked.
“No. I don't want to write the same thing that other guys write. I have to do something different” Eddie said.
“Good luck with that,” Eddie said.
The fire alarm started to ring, and Eddie and Buck started to get ready and then ran to the truck.
----
A few days later... Buck did see new videos of you. Eddie noticed that Buck has a huge crush on you. Now they start to talk about what plans they have for the weekend. You walked into the fire station and start to look for Eddie.
“Y/n?” Eddie said.
“Hey, Eddie” You smiled.
Buck is in shock and speechless. You hugged Eddie and he is happy to see you.
“Wait, you know her?” Buck asked.
“Yeah, we know each other. We were stationed together and she lived with me Christopher for a little while before I came to California. Oh, Y/n this is my friend Buck” Eddie said
Buck starts to smile at you and he is feeling nervous.
“Hi, I'm Buck” Buck said.
“Yeah, he told me your name. But it's nice to meet you” You said.
“How did you find me?” Eddie asked.
“Actually, I bumped into Jason and he told me where you worked. And I wanted to surprise you and Christopher and I got a gift for him. Is he into Lego?” You said.
“He will like it. How about this, you and Buck should come over to my house for dinner” Eddie said.
“Sure, I will go,” You said.
“Good. Oh, I mean I will go too” Buck said.
You and Buck start to smile at each other.
“You can stay at my place if you want,” Eddie said.
“It’s fine. I'm staying at a hotel for a little while” You said.
The bell started to ring.
“We have to go,” Eddie said.
“Be safe. Call me later” You said.
“Yeah, I will,” Eddie said.
You leave the station then they start to get ready.
“Why you didn't tell me that you know her,” Buck said
“You didn't ask” Eddie teased.
“Not funny,” Buck said.
Buck is helping Christopher with his homework, and Eddie is cooking dinner.
“So... Is Y/n single?” Buck asked.
“I don't know. Wait, you want to ask her out?” Eddie said.
“Yeah, I want to ask her out. Are you going to be okay with that?” Buck said.
“I care about her, so don't break her heart,” Eddie said.
“I’m not that kind of guy,” Buck said.
“I’m not attacking you. I just want her to be happy that's all” Eddie said.
You arrived and Eddie hugged you. He starts to set the table while Buck tries to flirt with you.
“How did you and Eddie meet?” Buck asked.
“Actually, she saved me from almost being killed. She was on a roof of a house and she shot the enemy in the head. Since we became friends, we were stationed in Japan for two years before I went back to Texas then she followed me” Eddie said
“I was stationed in Texas. I didn't stalk you” You said.
You and Eddie started to laugh.
“So, are you dating anyone?” Eddie asked.
“No. I have been single for a while, I think it ready to date again” You smiled.
“You know there is a new restaurant, maybe we should go together Y/n,” Buck said.
“Sure, it will be a date” You smiled.
“Yeah, it will be a date” Buck smiled.
“You two should eat before the food gets cold,” Eddie said
Everyone starts to eat the food. You and Eddie tell Buck stories about being in the army.
✬ ✬ ✯ ✫
You and Buck finished watching a movie and then went to get ice cream. You and Buck are having a good time. He is hesitating to hold your hand.
“You have a gentle heart, Y/n” Buck said.
“You thought because I’m a sniper, I would be cold?” You said.
“Sorry, but yeah,” Buck said.
“Yeah, many people thought about me. “They thought I would be cold or aggressive,” You said.
“Yeah, pretty much,” Buck said.
Buck bought the ice cream. Then he takes you to the boardwalk, he paid for an artist to draw you and Buck together. Then you and Buck went to play a game, to see who makes the most shots. You and Buck grabbed the basketball and started to play.
“I won,” Buck said and he smirked.
“It was a lucky shot,” You said.
“We can go again, Y/n, and I will still win,” Buck said.
“Okay, let's play again,” You said.
You and Buck started to play again. But you lost again and he can't stop smiling at you.
“See, it wasn't just luck. I have skills” Buck smirked.
“Whatever, Buck,” You said.
He picked a shark plush and gave it to you. Later, you and Buck go on the Ferris wheel, he moved closer and put his arm around you.
“I’m having fun. This is a good first date” You said.
“Me too, I'm having fun,” Buck said.
He leans and he kissed you on the lips. You start to kiss him back and you put your hand on his cheek.
----
Its Halloween... Hen and Karen are having a party. They told everyone to arrive wearing costumes, you and Buck agreed to wear matching costumes. You and Buck are Mr. & Mrs. Incredible, then you take pictures with Buck and everyone else. Later, you met his sister Maddie and Chimeny and you're getting along with them. You and Buck start to dance together and he is making you laugh.
“So, this means you and Buck are official?” Eddie asked.
“Yeah, we are. But we are taking it slow” You said.
“I’m happy for you and Buck. You two deserve to be happy” Eddie said.
“Are you dating? And I mean it, that you deserve to be happy and have fun” You said.
“I’m dating but nothing is official just yet,” Eddie said.
Later, you and Buck sit down together and just talked for a little while then danced again.
---
You are staying the night at Buck’s apartment. You are showing him, pictures of you and Eddie in the army. You and Eddie are standing by the Jeep with other people.
“How did you know you wanted to be a sniper?” Buck asked.
“In the army, they make us do everything to see if we have a skill in a certain area. I beat Eddie and other people in target practice” You said.
“Wow. If I didn't see your interviews and Eddie told me that you are a badass sniper, I wouldn't have believed him” Buck said.
You and Buck started to smile. Later, you and Buck cuddled on the couch to watch a movie.

I Think It's Time You Marry Me - Evan "Buck" Buckley Imagine (9-1-1)
Tumblr media
Title: I Think It's Time You Marry Me
Pairing: Evan "Buck" Buckley X Reader
Word Count: 1,103 words
Warning(s): mention of disaster/potential injury
Summary: [Inspired by "Marry Me" by Olly Murs] After a disastrous call, (Y/n) finds themself sitting by the phone and the TV with no word from or about Buck. When the man of the hour finally makes it home, he seems surprised about how much (Y/n) had truly worried about him.
Author's Note: Olly Murs released a new album, and this happened.
Also, y'all remember when I called Buck a himbo and seemed to get a chunk of this fandom to agree with me? Those were fun times.
-----------------------
It was easily the longest day of my life.
It had all started so... normal. Maybe that's why the whole day was so mind-boggling. There were no signs of what was going to happen. No sign that anything was going to go horribly wrong.
Buck had woken up before me. He kissed my forehead and mumbled for me to go back to bed before he ran off to get ready for the day.
I sat in my half-awake state, watching him move around the room, quietly thanking whatever entity allowed us to find this little place that could be completely ours. A place where we could both move so naturally.
I curled on my side as he walked back over and kissed me again. He muttered about how he hoped that I had a good day. And then, he left.
I didn't stay in bed for long after that. I got up, made my coffee, and tried to have a relaxing morning. Working from home had some benefits.
I had been clicking away at my keyboard. I had long since forgotten what words I had been writing. The news had been on in the background in the hopes of becoming an interruption to the silence that made me feel gross and sluggish.
And then, the news broke.
It looked like the world was ending. It's so easy for our minds to become apocalyptic when we don't have answers.
My heart dropped. My hands stopped moving and my head snapped over to the TV screen, watching the scene unfold. It almost felt wrong. For my home to be so peaceful and in order while watching everything in the world go wrong around me.
I turned around in my seat, watching the footage with wide eyes.
I jumped for my phone. I knew that if Buck was at the scene, then he wouldn't answer me for a while, but that didn't stop me when I fumbled to dial his number. I left a message for him.
"Hey- Hey, I... I'm watching the news and I know you're busy and I... Just... Just call me or text me or something when you get a chance. I need to know that you're okay. Please. I love you."
Every minute felt like hours. Every hour felt like days. It was terrible and drawn out. I wanted to find a way to run from it all, but I couldn't. I was stuck there in that time. In that period of unknowing and fear.
The news was still on, but it felt like nothing had processed in my mind. Nothing.
I had spent the day pacing. I did laps around the living room and the kitchen. I didn't eat. I tried to drink some water, but I knew it wasn't enough. It was hard to focus on my own needs when there was so much going wrong just outside my door.
I left countless messages. Texts and voicemails for Buck. I felt guilty but it was all just panic and anxiety looking for some kind of answer. I even called Eddie a few times. Nothing.
I checked my phone every few minutes, hoping to see something.
I never did.
It was already dark when I heard the front door open.
I froze where I was, watching as Buck walked back inside. He looked so tired.
He didn't look back at me until the door closed.
It was almost like time suddenly started going back to its normal pace. Like everything returned to how it was supposed to be.
"Buck."
I got over to him as quickly as I could. My arms wrapped around him and my eyes closed, relaxing for the first time in hours. Not fully, but just enough.
I leaned back, my hands moving to the sides of his face. "Are you okay? Are you hurt? I called and left messages and I knew you probably weren't going to have time to answer, but I needed to try. The news was no help. I didn't know what to do. I just- God, are you okay-"
Buck leaned forward and pressed his lips to mine. I froze for a moment before slowly kissing him back. My arms fell naturally around his neck as his hands touched my sides.
I pulled away a bit. I looked at him as his forehead rested on mine.
"I should've called you back," he muttered.
"No, no," I replied. "It's okay. I just... God, I'm so happy that you're okay. And you're home and okay. And that's what matters to me."
"I'm still sorry-"
"Stop it," I mumbled. "Please. Don't apologize. You couldn't control what happened today. I'm not upset with you. At all."
He closed his eyes again.
"I just... I love you so much, Buck. So much. I was scared, yes, but I'm not angry or upset. I'm just relieved. Because you're home and you're okay and I'm actually able to say that to you. Just... God, I love you."
He leaned in and kissed me again. I sighed into the kiss, allowing whatever remaining weight there had been to fall away like I was throwing off a jacket.
I leaned back, grinning at him.
His next words seemed to slip out like he couldn't have physically stopped them, "Marry me."
I stared at him with wide eyes after I took a step back. "What?"
"What?"
"Was... Was that a genuine proposal," I asked.
"I... Well... I don't... I didn't mean for that to come out like that," he replied. I couldn't remember the last time I had seen Buck stumble over his words like that. "I mean... I've thought about it. I've been thinking about it for a while now. But I don't have like a ring or anything. We can just ignore this happened-"
"We are definitely not ignoring it."
He froze, just staring at me.
"Do you want to marry me?"
"Yeah," he let out a sigh as he spoke, a smile breaking out on his face.
I leaned in and pecked his lips. "I want to marry you too."
He looked away, seemingly trying to hide his face.
"We should do it," I said. "We both want to. We've both been thinking about it. We should do it."
"You're sure?"
I nodded. "Surer than I've been about anything in a while."
"Okay," he replied. "Let's do it."
I cupped the sides of his face again, running my thumbs along his cheekbones.
"God, I love you," I muttered.
"I love you too," he mumbled back before pulling me into yet another kiss.
And how perfect a kiss it was.

santa baby - e.b **
Tumblr media
summary: christmas eve shenanigans by the tree
evan buckley x reader
smut!!
things sped up very quickly after athena’s christmas eve party. eventually, the candles burnt out and denny, along with other children, had to be tucked into bed before santa came tumbling on their roofs.
the innocence of the night was wearing off as buck stared at y/n in her tight red dress with the straight neckline. her arms were perfectly strung by her sides with the champagne glass in her hand. her rounded breasts were contoured by the golden lighting in athena’s room, and buck wanted to slap himself.
he hated feeling so turned on in the middle of a celebration for the holidays, but he couldn’t help but feel himself pushing against the fabric of his pants. the tingling sense in his stomach only grew when he saw y/n push her hair behind her shoulder, showing her sexy collarbones on which her long, gold necklace dangled over.
eddie’s sly comments were just faint sounds in bucks ear, teasing him for practically eye-fucking his girl from across the room. so, they were the next to leave.
buck had to stop himself from dragging her over the gearshift of his jeep and pulling her onto his lap. he wanted to feel the way her dress bunched up on her waist and then slowly peel it off her body as she begging for more.
“buck, slow down,” y/n asked, a slight chuckle in her voice looking at bucks white knuckles on the wheel. “it’s all fun and games until you get a ticket.”
“just wait til you see what im gonna do to you when we’re home. you’re gonna want me going faster.”
“oh.” y/n mumbled, shuffling in her seat, feeling the warmth in her lower stomach grow. she honestly thought buck was having a normal night, but she also knew what she was doing when she pulled that dress out of her closet. she slid her control center up on her phone, quickly turning on do not disturb for the night ahead of her.
he pulled frantically into the parking garage, running to her side of the door and grabbing her hand to pull her in.
“jesus, buck slow down!” she laughed. “you’re gonna rip my arm out of the socket.” she shut the door behind her quietly, noticing how late it was and not wanting to disturb anyone.
the moment she spun around, his hands were back on her sides, floating down her back and pushing his fingers into her ass. his lips were onto hers like a magnet, his soft kiss leaving stars in her mind. she could only faintly smell the whiskey on his lips, the one he sipped at while his dick was begging to be touched by her. he allowed her to fall into him, her hands touching the sides of his face and the back of his neck. he moved his legs quickly, pulling them into the living room. he sat her on the couch before sneakily scurrying away.
“what-“ she didn’t even have time to ask before he came back downstairs, his arms flooding with every pillow in the house. he slammed them onto the floor, right in front of the tree. “you do know we have a couch, right?”
“what’s the fun in that? c’mon,” he leans into her ear, his arms wrapping around her hips. “don’t lie and say you’ve never wanted me to fuck you under this tree?”
her mouth went slightly agape, shocked at his eagerness to please and the fantasies speeding through his head. “show me you’re not all talk then.”
he scooped her up, bending his knees to the ground and laying her on the pillows. he unstrapped her heels, throwing them across the room as she lay back against the cool, silky pillows. one of the straps of her dress was already sinking down her shoulder, practically begging buck to kiss all over her already. y/n propped herself up on her elbows, tugging at his shirt as he kissed her aggressively.
she felt his thick arms under the shirt, getting wetter just thinking about his muscles on top of her. buck placed his hands over y/n’s, leading them to the bottom of his shirt where she pulled it up, revealing his sexy figure and where his confidence rose. she just undid a few of the buttons on his pants before he couldn’t handle the wait. he stripped down completely, leaving his naked body to her view only.
it felt unfair for just him to be completely on display, and he only wanted to see her beautiful body in front of him. he started inching the dress up, leaning his body down to her thighs. he planted sweet kisses on her inner thighs, sucking and nipping at the skin. he eventually got to the point where the dress was on the floor, discarded somewhere with their other garments.
his large hands ran over her body, cupping her boobs and squeezing them lightly, in the most teasing way. he always knew how to get her where he wanted her, and he knew she was ready for him now. “shit.”
he placed a hand on her lower back, leaning her up to unhook her bra with one hand. he tossed it behind his head, earning a gentle giggle from y/n. he looked back rapidly, staring at her hardened nipples and bending down to connect his mouth.
his fingers were pinching and circling her left while his tongue worked on the right, getting the perfect amount of stimulation to get y/n all worked up. he loved to see the blush on her face, seeing her get all flustered and horny from his kisses. he sucked all around the skin on her tits, leaving small marks over her.
once he saw that she was fully content, he pecked a bit on her stomach, moving back to her inner thighs, just getting closer to her center. his fingers wrapped around the edge of her thong, pulling it down to fully reveal her wet pussy, the one that belonged to him.
“you’re actually the hottest person i’ve ever seen,” he said, connecting his eyes with her own as she smiled down at him. “just wanna taste you.”
his hands were placed on her knees, spreading her legs as far as they would go and settling himself in between. his fingers ran up her smoothly, the way they always do but make her feel ecstatic. he got his first moan as he circled his wet fingers around her clit, letting his fingers warm her up before his mouth was on her.
he licked and kissed at her lips as if they were just like her face, guiding the almost whimsical noises to leave her mouth. his arm was hooked under her thigh, his hand just by the top of her pubic bone. he lifted her up slightly to connect his lips to her clit, starting to suck again.
y/n’s hands reached down, lightly tugging at bucks growing hair in between her legs. she adored the way his hands were resting on her body as he ate her out and how lovingly he did it. he hit every spot that she needed to get off as she grinded on his tongue as it circled around her pussy.
as he kept licking at her favorite places, she came with a firework that left stars in her eyes and her chest heavy. her lungs filled with air, trying to catch up to the pleasurable feeling in her groin.
“buck!” y/n moans out. “god, buck i’m gonna cum.”
“cum for me, baby.” his deep voice vibrates against her cunt, instantly sparking up her entire body and leaving shocks throughout it. she clenched around nothing but the feeling of bucks mouth working her through her orgasm, her wetness being already around by his tongue.
when he finally released his hold on her legs and removed his mouth from her sensitive clit, buck pushed himself up onto his knees.
he connected his lips with hers once again, y/n now able to taste her sweet pussy on his lips. the way he treated her taste like an expensive wine just made it even better as he pushed his lips harder against hers. his tongue forced itself into her mouth, rocking against her own in a perfect rhythm. he used her mouth like he was starving, and he couldn’t help himself. the mix of her juices and her chapstick was the ultimate turn on, just making his dick grow harder.
“god, i wanna fuck you so bad.” buck groans, dragging his lips down her neck and sucking harshly on the skin.
“please fuck me already. i wanna feel you inside of me.” y/n begged, and buck could hear it in her voice how badly she wanted him.
y/n reached down, stroking bucks dick and pumping it a few times before leading it down to her pussy.
he ran his dick through her folds, collecting the mix of juices from her pussy and his own spit. the noises that she made as he grinded himself against here were heavenly, sounds that could turn him on faster than anything. the feeling of bucks body on top of her was unreal, almost like a dream. she reached up to grip his muscles as his hands moves down her waist.
he finally slid himself into her vagina, allowing himself to feel her tightness around his dick. he moaned out loudly, as if it were the first time he was ever in her. “holy shit, baby.” buck reached up through the pillows, taking y/n’s hands off her face. “don’t cover that pretty face.”
“you feel so fucking good.”
buck intwined his fingers with hers, bending her arms and pulling her hands up to the side of her head. he, in the most romantic way possible, rubbed her hands with his thumbs as he fucked her at the perfect place, hitting the amazing spots in her to make her moan out in pleasure.
he thrusted in her so hard, making her back arch off the pillows and making it difficult for her lungs to fill with air. the familiar sense started to creep up on her again, the bubble inside her threatening to burst.
“im so close, y/n, god,” buck groans out, not breaking the speed or rhythm of his thrusts. the only noises in the room were the wet sound of buck inside her and their practically synchronized moans of pleasure.
“you’re gonna make me cum, buck.”
“cum with me, baby, i got you.” buck continued to force himself into her, just the way she loves. he saw the way her face scrunched up and how her mouth dropped open with her blushed cheeks. the look in her eyes signaled how close she was, knowing they’d come together soon.
both of their legs shook as he came inside of her, spilling into her tight pussy. his thrusts slowed down, seeing his cum cover his dick and make a mess of her cunt. he leaned forward, shamelessly moaning into y/n’s ear as they both rode out their orgasms, using the other to their advantage.
“you’re so beautiful.” buck looks to the side, his nose lightly touching the side of y/n’s face before she tilts it.
“says you,” y/n winks, moaning again as buck pushes his fingers inside of her, attempting to clean the mess of juices and cum that they left. he pulls his hand up, letting y/n suck them and taste themselves mixed together.
buck rolls fully on his back, dragging y/n on top of him as she straddles him. “i love you so much.”
“i love you too, honey,” buck replies, kissing her lips again. “merry christmas, sexy.”
y/n laughs, gazing down at him and his goofy grin. “merry christmas, buck.”
“wait til you see what i got us for christmas.”

MAKE UP FOR IT aka The Unusual Coffee Date
Sometimes, a wrong does make a right.
Tumblr media
Pairing Evan 'Buck' Buckley x gn!reader
Theme fluffy flirting with a bit of an attempt to channel Seasons 1-2 Buck energy
Word Count 538
Note thank you so much for this request, my love @hangmanbrainrot 🥹 slowly finding my way back into writing so this might be a little rough but I hope you enjoy it!
Tumblr media
“’Scuse me, LAPD coming through!”
In a way, it was sort of your fault for not hearing the warning in time. But then again, no one carrying an axe should be calling you out just as they’re about to walk into you and make coffee slosh and spill over your hands and clothes.
It was hard not to join everyone staring at the firemen who were trying to rescue the owner trapped on the roof. But you were already running late, and had it not been for the one who just chopped open the door, you would have made it through the day without—albeit, exaggerated—a near-death experience.
As soon as you slipped out the door, you stole a few glances back at him—the tattoos on his forearm and his clean-cut dirty blond hair…yeah. It was really hard not to stare.
You suppose there were worse ways to go.
Tumblr media
Twenty-four hours later, you were back at the coffee shop just as routine dictated. As the barista lined up your usual order, you reached for your wallet when a beep sounded from the cash register in front of you.
“Here’s your receipt and your change, Sir. Have a great day!”
You looked up just in time to see someone stuff their wallet in their pocket.
Someone with familiar thin bands tattooed just below his elbow.
Gone was the dark blue uniform, but the shirt he had on now fit him just as nicely. His hair was fixed the same way, though. And seeing him up close showed a unique birthmark sitting on top.
“I figured I owe you from yesterday,” he mused referring to your coffee run-in. “I’m Buck, by the way.”
You couldn’t help but smile at his charm as you shook his hand and gave your name. “How’d you know I’d be here anyway?”
“I didn’t,” he shrugged, “but I was hoping you would.”
The two of you stepped out. As you walked slowly towards the direction of your office, he matched step with yours.
“So, Buck. You’ve done something nice for me, so now I feel like I owe you something,” you pointed amusedly.
He shook his head. “I spilled your coffee and I bought you a new one. No repaying necessary,” he smiled.
“Sure,” you said playfully, “because you stalked my coffee shop and walked me to my office just because.”
He tried to play it off, realizing he was just found out. “Hey, if you really wanna call it even, then maybe you can go out with me tonight. If you’re free, that is.”
Stopping at the corner of the block, you looked up at him. That hopeful look in his eyes almost had you feeling guilty about wanting to draw out your teasing.
“Pick me up at 5,” you said just before you crossed the street. “You know where to find me!”
Looking back, you definitely didn’t miss the growing smile on his face, and the way he tried to hide his little fist pump at your response.
You suppose it was a great way to repay the favor.

summary: when a call takes you to the scene of a shark attack you can't help but feel a sense of deja vu and reveal the one think you never thought you could
Tumblr media
You sighed as you looked in the mirror, your fingers running over the arch shaped scar on your skin. It was old but it was as visible as ever. The scar rounded your hip before it disappeared under your waistband before it finished on the top half of your thigh. You were glad it was in a spot that could be hidden, but you also hated that you had to hide them.
It’s not that you were ashamed or anything, there was nothing to be ashamed of. But you didn’t want anyone to see the scars, they were jagged and ugly. You didn’t like people seeing them.
In the years since you obtained them, you had barely been intimate with anyone, not even your current partner, Buck.
You trusted him with your life, with everything. But in the past, people saw the marks on your torso and they ran. And you couldn’t lose Buck, you couldn’t.
You heard the bathroom door open and you dropped your shirt and started tucking it.
“Hey, Cap has lunch ready,” Hen said as she poked her head in. You nodded and sent her a smile in the mirror, “Okay, thank you. I’ll be out in just a sec.” She smiled back and nodded, “Alright.”
She left, patting the door frame as she did, and you sighed a little before taking a deep breath and leaving the bathroom.
Tumblr media
During lunch the bell went off. In the commotion all you caught was the location before you were getting in the truck and going toward the scene.
You had a pit in your stomach the whole ride to the beach and you didn’t know why.
That was until you made it through the crowd of people on the dock and saw it.
A bull shark had gotten a hold of a fisherman and wouldn’t let go.
The scent of copper and salt water filled your senses. Blood stained the dock and the man was shouting in pain as the beast refused to release him.
That pit in your stomach turned to bricks as you stopped moving. Your side began to burn and itch. You suddenly weren’t seeing the fisherman, but yourself on the dock next to your board and bleeding from your side.
You were 18 when it happened. You were surfing with some friends, padding into shore when a great white thought you looked like its next meal. The shark took a test bite out of your side and upper half of your thigh. It was a quick bite, but it was enough.
Internal organs were damaged and you had nearly bled out on the beach but you were stabilized and taken to the hospital just in time.
You survived, yes, but you haven’t gone back in the water since.
“Y/N? You okay?” Buck asked, turning to when he noticed you hadn’t moved.
With your heartbeat in your ears you hadn’t heard him and you all but shoved your gear in Bobby's chest and took off towards the engine.
They called after you but they quickly turned back to the emergency at hand.
Tumblr media
You made it to the engine, leaning against it and ripping your button up open and untucking it and your undershirt.
Taking deep, grounding breaths, you rubbed and scratched at your side.
Your scars always did this when you were stressed or when you got anxiety. Especially in the event of flashbacks or situations that triggered you.
Tears slipped down your cheeks and you wiped them away quickly with your free hand.
“Fuck, pull yourself together Y/N this is completely unprofessional,” you scolded as you tried to shake out the tension in your fingers. “You should be better than this. It's been 6 years.”
“Honey? Y/N, baby, what’s wrong?”
You gasped, startled as you felt Buck’s hands on you. You hadn’t heard him calling for you or running up to you.
“Not-Nothing Buck, it’s okay. I’m okay.” You had dropped your shirt and looked up at Buck’s eyes to find them fixated on your side.
Shit. He saw.
“Buck..”
“What happened?”
You sighed and grabbed his hand, pulling him to the cab of the engine and getting in. You closed the door and sat across from him. You rested your arms on your knees and played with your fingers. Now was the moment, and you were dreading it.
“The summer before I went to college… a few friends and I were surfing, on this beach actually,” you started not looking Buck in the eye. He mimicked your position and spoke softly to you, “I didn’t know you were a surfer.” You chuckled dryly, “I’m not… not anymore.”
Buck just nodded, staying silent as you continued. “We were paddling into shore and all of a sudden I had this intense, hot pain in my side… A um, a great white had taken a test bite. I was brought into shore and I almost bled out in the sand.”
“But you didn’t,” Buck said, holding your hand in his. “You’re here, with us, with me.”  You nodded, sniffling a little. “I know that, I know. I just – it was terrifying…”
He nodded and kissed your hands. “I-I’m sorry I never told you sooner…” “Don’t apologize, honey. You don’t owe me anything,” he soothed, rubbing your knuckles.
You sniffle again and pull your hands away to wipe your eyes. “I should have been more professional, it was 6 years ago…” He shook his head, “Hey, you can’t control how situations make you feel, Y/N.” “I guess not…”
Buck’s eyes flicked from your face to your side as he bit his lip. He knew it wasn’t his place, but he had to ask.
“Why did you never tell me?”
You sighed, “I was scared…” He furrowed his brow, “Scared? Scared of what?” You wrapped your arms around yourself, “They aren’t… pretty. And when people have seen them in the past…”
Buck’s heart broke. “You thought I would leave you…” You nodded, not looking at him. He tilted your chin up, “I don’t care about some scars, Y/N. They make you you.”
“You might not say that after you see them…”
“Then show me…”
Your head whipped up to him, “Wh-what?” His face was nothing but serious, “Show me, Y/N.”
His blue eyes held nothing but genuineness and you nodded before standing.
Gulping, you lift up your shirt and look away from him as he sees the entirety of your scar. “If you want to end it-” He cut you off, “Don’t even finish that thought, I’m not going anywhere.”
He brings his hand up, his fingertips running over the marked skin delicately.
“They’re beautiful…”
You snorted, “I appreciate the lie Buck…” “I’m not lying. Do you know what scars mean?” You didn’t respond, looking down at your boots. “They mean you survived. That attack could have one or two outcomes. One of those outcomes includes me never getting the chance to meet you, and the other includes you and me in this truck having this conversation.”
He stood, “So, they’re beautiful because you are. Because you are alive.”
You looked up at him as his finger hooked under your chin, “I love them because I love you. Nothing will ever change that.”
You capture his lips in a kiss as tears still slip down your face. “Thank you, Buck… I love you too. But… I still don’t think I’m ready for sex, there’s just a lot I think I need to work through,” you told him honestly. He nodded and pecked your lips, “Whenever you're ready, I’ll be there. And I’ll be by your side until then.”
You smiled and wrapped your arms around him, “Thank you Buck.” He kissed your head, “Any time Y/N.”

Only Tipsy (Buck x GN!Reader) - Pt. 2
Tumblr media
GIF BY @cinematicnomad - masterlist
Summary: You’re apart of the 118 and you have an alcohol problem. Despite knowing you’re surrounded by people who care about you, you’re mortified from the thought of them knowing you’re struggling. [this is an x buck fic, but there’s love from everyone, including maddie.]
A/N: I realize this isn’t too much of a x buck fic so i might rename it.
WARNINGS: alcoholism, dark thoughts, mentioned self harm (non-graphic), angst, hurt/comfort, spoilers for the show.
PART TWO OF TWO - PART ONE HERE
The ride to your apartment was short, but for everyone, it felt like it took a million years, like God had somehow slowed time down and everything was moving slower than it actually was. Bobby taps his fingers against the steering wheel; he can’t help but be worried. This isn’t your usual behavior and what happened with Chim and Maddie with Doug, everyone can only assume the worst. You don’t exactly have a history like Maddie, but when someone is acting extremely unusual? Your darkest fears come out to play.
Bobby and Hen sit in the ambulance silently, riding along the road. Bobby was not going the speed limit at all, which is something Hen would usually lecture him for, but they’re in an emergency vehicle with the sirens and lights on. Perhaps they’re being a bit dramatic if nothing is actually wrong, but Hen can’t help but feel like something is.. very, very wrong. This dark and invading feeling inside of her gut is spreading through her torso to her fingers and she just can’t shake it. Hen’s phone vibrates in her pocket, so her fingers grab the edge and pull it out of her work pants. Hen unlocks her phone and sees Maddie texted her.
Maddie: nearly there. ru guys there yet??
Hen: not yet. eta 2 mins
Hen: something is very wrong. we took the ambulance
Maddie: hey we can’t assume the worst, ok?
Hen: can’t help it. my gut is screaming at me. they need to be ok, for their own sake. and maybe buck’s. he’s shitting himself back at the station
Maddie: he’s not with u?
Hen: no, it’s just me and bobby. chim, eddie and buck r back @ the station in case there’s a call. trust me, buck begged bobby but he wouldn’t let him
Hen looks up from her phone as the ambulance comes to a slow outside of your apartment. She glances at Bobby and they make eye contact as they unclip their seatbelts at the same time, hopping out of the ambulance. Hen grabs a medical duffle bag full of supplies. Hen quickly catches up with Bobby. A few feet away, Bobby makes eye contact with Maddie who’s shutting her car door, keys in hand. She fast walks towards them in such a motherly manner, worried etched across her face. Her eyebrows are pinched together; like she’s expecting the worst, despite what she just told Hen.
“Seems like we got here at the same time,” Maddie murmurs. “Let’s head inside.”
Bobby swallows his spit as he feels that panic bubble back up his throat, but he forces it back down. He needs to focus; for you, for buck, for himself.
The trio make their way inside of the lobby and head up to the fifth floor—your floor.
The walk down the hall was dreadful. Maddie doesn’t bother to knock, she just whips out the key you provided her; you provided your team with a key and you grew so close with Maddie, it only felt fitting she should have one, too. Her keys jingle as she inserts the key into your front doorknob and turns it, immediately opening the door.
The smell of alcohol is strong. It’s overwhelming, gross and all-consuming of your senses. Hen blinks away a few tears as she covers her mouth, walking inside. “Holy shit..” Hen mutters breathlessly. Your apartment is wrecked, there’s bottles everywhere, your carpet is stained with god knows what by this point, there’s crumpled up paper towels and paper plates strewn about, everything. “Oh my god.” Bobby mutters as Maddie walks inside, looking around worriedly, avoiding the bottles. “[Name]??” She calls, concern lacing her tone.
“I’ll go check her bedroom, go check the kitchen and bathroom.” Hen quips as she quickly walks through the apartment and down the hall. She coughs as she opens a few doors in the hall and peeping in, calling your name.
Of course, no one gets a response.
“In here!”
Maddie’s sound is heard from the living room and that’s where Bobby and Hen go.
“C’mon [Name], time to get up..” Maddie murmurs
You’re slumped against the wall, cradling the bottle. Bobby freezes and stares at your slumped over body; your sweaty skin, your hair sticking to your forehead. The front of your shirt is wet with sweat and alcohol. Maddie presses two fingers against your wrist. “Pulse is strong, but really fast. I think they’re dehydrated.”
Hen nods and takes a deep breath and bends down onto her knees. She takes out her small, white flashlight and peels open your bottom eyelids, shining the beam in your pupils and quickly moving it away, watching the reaction. “Pupil dilation is normal, but the whites of their eyes are red, the lowerlids are too light pink for my liking.”
Bobby swallows, his adam’s apple bobbing. “I’ll get the shower going to get them to wake up and then Hen, you should start an IV.”
“Got it, Cap.” Hen replied, putting medical gloves on and already preparing the saline. “Help me pick them up,” Maddie says as she looks at Bobby. They maintain eye contact for a split second and communicate silently; communicate their worries, their concerns, their fears. Bobby walks closer and takes the bottle away from your arms and places it somewhere out of the way. He then hooks his arms under yours and picks your torso up, and Maddie quickly grabs your legs for easy transport. Bobby lets out a soft grunt and they take you to the bathroom.
Bobby then sits you down on the toilet seat, leaning your body against Maddie. She sniffles quietly and wraps an arm around you, hand cradling your face and brushing her thumb against it gently. Bobby forces himself to look away and he takes a slow deep breath before reaching over and turning the water on. He keeps it cold as he pulls the lever up and it transfers from your bathtub faucet to your shower head. “After the IV, I’ll call Buck.” Maddie says quietly, as if her voice will wake your alcohol-coma like state. Bobby nods without saying anything and he completely pries open the shower curtains. He sighs and grabs onto you along with Maddie, grunting, “Alright, in you go.”
They carefully put you in the tub, resting your head against the back of the tub wall. Bobby grabs the shower head and points it towards you, effectively soaking your clothes.
At first, you don’t wake up.
One second turns in to five, in to twenty, into sixty and suddenly your eyelids begin to flutter, a scratchy groan leaving your throat.
Both Maddie and Bobby let out breaths they didn’t know they were holding. You take a good ten seconds to realize you’re in the tub, your glazed over eyes looking around for anything to finally focus on. Your eyes meet Maddie’s and focus; her worried face coming into view.
“Maddie..” You croak, your eyebrows furrowing upwards as your eyes begin to burn with forming tears. You look at Bobby standing beside her and you open your mouth to speak but all that escapes from you is a harsh sob. You cover your water soaked face with your hands, your hair and clothes continuously being soaked with the freezing water. You clearly sobered up fast, and your heart was pounding. The room was spinning, your fingers buzzing with numbness. You couldn’t hear the water rushing anymore, but you felt a pair of strong arms help you out of the bathtub.
You open your eyes and cough as you see the blurry figures of Bobby and Maddie taking you back to the living room near the heater.
You blink and there’s a prick in your arm.
You blink and there’s hands on your face.
You blink and right in front of you is Buck, cupping your cheeks. Wait.. When did he get here?
“..hear me?” Buck’s shaky voice fades in. “Babe, can you hear me?”
You swallow your spit—there’s barely any, due to dehydration. “B.. Buck?”
He smiles, but the gesture doesn’t reach his eyes. He nods, kissing your damp forehead. “Yeah, I’m right here, [Name].”
You try to reach up to touch him but Maddie’s hand comes out of nowhere and gently presses my arm back down. “You have an IV for fluids in your arm, try not to bend your arm, okay?” Maddie’s voice is oh so gentle and loving and you can’t help but burst into tears again. Buck quickly pulls you close to your chest and you sob into his shirt, your tears dripping onto the fabric. “It’s alright, [Name],” Buck whispers to you. “Everything will be okay.. We’ll.. We’ll get you some help, alright? You aren’t alone..”
You just sob harder at that; you don’t think you deserve them, all of them. Buck, Maddie, Hen, Bobby.. They all came for you because they care, yet you feel so much guilt. “I’m- I’m sorry-“ You choke out, your shoulders shaking with a good amount of force from the sobs escaping your chest. “Y-you guys, you guys shouldn’tseemelikethis-“
“Hey, hey hey hey, breathe for us, okay?” Hen’s voice breaks through the air into your ears, making you turn your head to look at her. Buck’s heart breaks inside of his chest. It feels like his heart is crumbling and infecting the rest of his organs with hurt. You’re terribly sweaty, you’re crying which is most definitely dehydrating you further, your hair is mess, you have dark bags under your eyes—you aren’t doing well and Buck isn’t sure how he didn’t see it before.
You take a slow but shaky deep inhale, earning a smile from Hen. “That’s good, now another one..” Her hand grabs your shoulder gently as you follow her instructions. The sweet flow of oxygen makes your lungs ache, your fingertips feel fuzzy. You’ve never been so h grateful to breathe in the air.
Buck kisses your forehead gently, cradling you close as if letting you go means you’ll slip away forever.
“I’ve been in your same exact position, [Name].” Bobby says quietly. “I don’t know the exact reasonings for your drinking, but trust me, I will be there every step of the way. So will everyone else.”
You sniffle and nod as your eyes burn with more tears, but you quickly wipe them away. You feel so nauseous, so out of it, but Buck’s arms are warm and everyone else’s presence are like a soft blanket, keeping everything else at bay.
Maybe you can let them help. Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad.

Title: First Impressions
Pairing: Evan "Buck" Buckley/GN!Reader
Tags: Meeting the parents, slight angst, swearing, anxiety, dinner dates, gender neutral reader, dinner dates gone wrong, unsupportive parents, reader needs a hug, Buck being a sweetheart
Warnings: One count 'em one swear word, talk of anxiety, unsupportive parents
Drumming your fingers against the table for what feels like the thirtieth time you check your phone and sigh at the time, he's late….again. You know you really shouldn't be anxious by this, Buck's a firefighter after all so he's often busier than most other people you've dated, but due to his occupation you can't help but fear for the worst every single time he's late for something important like this. He's supposed to be meeting your parents after all and they're already less than impressed with his tardiness. Hell, they haven't been happy with anything regarding him from the moment you decided to tell your parents the two of you were dating. 'A firefighter? Why didn't you date that nice boy from law school?' Your mother had asked, 'A firefighter isn't a good match for you, he'll always be out in the public eye getting attention from other women- he'll cheat on you in an instant and then you'll be heartbroken again dear!' Your father had pointed out, but it wasn't like that. Buck never paid attention to any other women when he was on shift- and he got plenty of attention from them. They're just trying to make you afraid that he's out with some random woman right now.
You're certain that he's just running late, that time got away from him and he'll walk through the restaurant doors any moment now, but another moment passes by and you begin to wonder if somethings happened at work. Had there been an earthquake? No, your phone would've been blowing up with news stories and you're certain that you would've felt it so you decide that it wasn't an earthquake….maybe it was a last minute call that was taking longer than expected. Buck is fine. He's just…busy. A little heads up would be nice so that you could calm down but it's okay because he's probably just busy. Occupational hazards be damned, Buck is a fantastic firefighter so you're sure everything is okay and that the 118 are just caught up in a call- not in a this is a very dangerous situation we're in kind of call but more of a this is taking longer than we expected type of call…except those two calls usually went hand in hand with one another. Would it be bad to call him? Probably. If he's still at work you don't want to bother him…but your growing anxiety won't be settled;ed until you've texted him at the very least.
Message From: Sweetheart.
Hey babe! Just wanted to make sure everything's alright and we're still on for tonight? Love you!
Sending…sending…sending.
The fact that your message refuses to send makes your anxiety worse. A cell tower must be down, or maybe you're just in an area with bad signal? Maybe he's in an area with bad signal. There has to be some kind of explanation as to why your messages aren't sending, hesitantly you put your phone down and smile tightly at your parents and they return said smile. "So…is your date going to be joining us any time soon or will we be here for another half hour waiting?" Your mother asks, she's the one whose been the least supportive of your relationship so it's no wonder she's taking the moment to point out her distaste for your boyfriend's tardiness. You force yourself not to point out that the only one to show up on time to the restaurant had been yourself.
"He's just running a little late mom, he's going to be here soon." You promise, though whether you're trying to convince her or yourself is another conversation entirely. Your father scoffs beside her and you swallow a lump in your throat- no- there's no reason to pick a fight with them, he's going to show up, he's just running late, he loves you, he's coming.
"Are you sure he's even going to show up? What if…what if he's just not as interested as you thought he was?" Your father asks and it's enough to break the camel's back.
"Okay, that's it. We're done here. I have done everything you two have ever wanted! I went to law school, I had the best grades, I never drank, I never smoked, I never had a boyfriend, I never partied! I never got to live my life the way I wanted to because I was so busy living up to all of your unreal expectations! Buck lets me do what I want! He doesn't yell at me if I'm late, he doesn't berate me because I don't want to be a lawyer, he gives me compliments and tells me he loves me and he's proud of me!" You yell grabbing the entire restaurants attention, people have stopped what they're doing to turn your way and listen to the ongoing argument.
"Stop it! This isn't the time or the place!" Your mother hisses in embarrassment but you don't care, you've spent all of your life doing exactly what they wanted when they wanted it and now it's been enough. You're done living your life according to them.
"There's never a right place or time with you, I'm never allowed to speak my mind and I can't take it anymore! And you know what? I don't need to hear anymore bullshit from the two of you regarding Buck and my choices, you two don't run my life anymore and until then, we're done talking." You state with an air of finality. Before either of them can respond you stand up from the table and move to the exit, bumping straight into someone's chest, you move to apologize until realizing that it's Buck dressed in a lovely suit holding a bouquet of your favorite flowers.
Immediately any and all anger leaves you, replaced with worry as to where he has been. "Hey! I'm so sorry I'm late but I got you-!" He begins to explain with that charming smile across his face before you suddenly pull him into a hug, relief flooding through you, nothing that happened with your parents matters anymore.
"I've been worried sick! Where the hell were you?!" You ask lightly punching his arm.
"Ow! Geez I said I was sorry, I got stuck in traffic on the way here. I would've texted you but my phone died while I was at work…is everything okay?" He asks in concern, you can't help but smile and nod.
"Yeah, yeah everything great now." You answer matching his smile from earlier.
"Oh, good! Well then I'm ready to meet your par-" He begins before you take him by the arm and begin leading him out of the restaurant, "Wait where are we going? I thought we were having dinner with your parents?" Buck asks in confusion with a small frown as the two of you walk out of the restaurant.
"We were but…they didn't show up, so I think pizza at your place sounds so much better."
