Disclaimer: the winner may instead advance to a “finals round” poll.
(A note for just in case: No, I'm not misgendering Yamato. He's canonically an AFAB transgender man whose pronouns are he/him.)
This poll is part of a trio: male • non-binary • female

Iiiit's Bowser Day, everyone! How else do you think Bowser staffs all those castles and forts? Don't worry about the new "recruit", enough time in that suit and he'll be thinking JUST like the big man himself.

Marian’s character arc in the Double Dragon expanded universe is both awesome and extremely funny.
For the first few games in the series her entire purpose is to repeatedly get kidnapped, possessed, and/or straight up murdered (she gets better) in order to motivate the male leads.
In her latest appearances, conversely, well
Tumblr media
It’s like if Princess Peach got sick of getting kidnapped by Bowser all the time, so she got super jacked and started punting Koopa Troopas into the stratosphere.

I’m feeling a little too sick to draw the rest of the Mario Movie changes, so I’ll just type them in.
Mario mentions that Luigi landed in a dark place and everyone grows silent. Peach tells Mario that’s Bowser’s domain and Luigi is in danger. Peach gets excited about a third human and wants to test Mario so she can have him tag along with her to the Jungle Kingdom.
Peach shows Mario the course behind the castle and passes it. Mario questions how he can do all of that since he is short. Peach calls Toad to demonstrate. Mario gets embarrassed and peach offers the Super Mushroom. Events from the film occur, except Peach leaves because she has business to attend, but Toad stays behind to cheer Mario on. Before she could leave completely, Mario makes it to the end, except he loses his grip on the pole and crashes onto Toad. Peach asks Toad to leave so she and Mari can talk for a bit. Events from the film occur.
Note: All of the Luigi events stay the same.
Mario and Peach are about to embark on the journey to get to the Jungle when a Toad asks who Mario is. Peach hypes him up as another human just like her. The Toads get excited and Mario gets flustered, but stays a gentleman by waving at the oogling Toads. “Are you just as cool as the Princess?” “Are you helping her beat King Koopa?” “Are you two getting MARRIED?”
Toadsworth insists to go with her, but she commands that he stay behind to take care of things while she’s gone. She puts a little blind trust in Mario to Toadsworth’s dismay. They start traveling until suddenly, Toad appears to tag along. Peach insists that he stays behind because she doesn’t want to bring him down if she fails, which resonates with Mario. Toad begs to tag along to prove himself to be a Royal Guard. Peach can’t resist the face and agrees. Mario rolls his eyes in an annoyed but endearing way at Toad because he reminds him of Luigi. Events of the film occur, except a Laikitu with a camera shows Mario with the princess. Kamek sees it through a crystal ball.
Bowser sings his song as usual and is informed that there are TWO male humans that have the same face. Granted, they are separated but one of them is with the Princess and the other has been captured and on the way. Bowser smiles as he realizes he can use this to his advantage.
Events from the film occur except Peach reveals that after attempting to return her to her realm, the toads found the warp pipe destroyed. (A part of me wants to add the deleted scene here, but the moment between the two doesn’t feel earned, so Mario inviting Peach to Brooklyn feels better during Rainbow Road instead)
Luigi and Bowser meet. Except Luigi takes an in depth analysis at his situation. Big throne, lava everywhere, the smell of spicy cinnamon, the biggest one in the room and the only one with horns. This guy is in charge. The interrogation goes just like the film except when. Bowser asks if Princesses find Mario attractive, Luigi says “Do Mayors count?” R.I.P. his mustache. He ends up in the prison room. (Luigi’s Escape Plan comic where he escapes with Lumalee and the Penguin King starts :3)
Events stay the same for the most part up until Peach gets back to the Mushroom Kingdom after Mario and DK fell into the ocean. Toad begs to stay behind and Peach tells him that it’s best if he helps his fellow Toads get to safety. Peach marches outside with Toadsworth to defend the kingdom. Same events occur except Kamek tortures Toadsworth instead. They take Peach and they toss Toadsworth into the prison room. Toad hides, witnessing everything and sneak onto the fortress to rescue Toadsworth. Toad bumps into Luigi and Lumalee.
We are now caught up :3

Another Bowuigi post contribution:
Even after Bowser and Luigi tied the knot, there are still other people, royalty and commoners alike, male and female, who still ask Luigi out of false/fragile hope and or denial, not concerned about the fact that he's already taken. Some are direct, others discreet.
Bowser becoming more than just ANNOYED, IRRITATED and DISPLEASED.
He is PISSED.
Make that even worse when the unwanted admirers and suitors still persist and some take it too far, harassing Luigi when the latter turns them down gently and politely and reinforcing that he's already married.
So, the Koopa King glowers behind his little hubby baring his teeth, scaring all the suitors away. XD

Note
When did Luigi decided to grow his hair out in your AU??? Did he have a profound reason for doing so or was it a just because kind of thing for him???
Not really, tbh. He just didn't have time to cut it, and found that he actually really enjoyed all the different hairstyles he could create.
I headcanon that Bowser's species pride themselves on their manes, as well. Especially considering that they're the only subspecies of Koopa that can grow manes. It's kind of like a competition, especially among males, to see who can have the most impressive floof, and the styles get more elaborate as the Koopa ages. Kinda like how dwarves revere their beards. So that also may have had something to do with it.

Death will not do us part
The moon hung high in the night sky, casting an ethereal glow over the ancient tombstones that dotted the royal graveyard. The air was heavy with a sense of solemnity, as if even nature itself recognized the sacredness of this hallowed ground. Silence enveloped the area, broken only by sporadic sounds that seemed to emerge from the shadows.
Occasionally, a mischievous Boo cackle would echo through the stillness, its eerie laughter sending shivers down one's spine. These playful spirits, known for their spectral pranks and tricks, found solace in this realm of eternal rest. Their ethereal voices danced on the wind, adding an otherworldly charm to the otherwise somber atmosphere.
Amidst the Boo's haunting laughter, an owl hoot resonated through the night. The wise creature perched on a branch nearby, its golden eyes gleaming with ancient knowledge.
The Boo looked at the glorious sarcophagi, staring longingly at the jewels encrusted on the surfaces. They were captivated by the shimmering gemstones, their translucent forms yearning for the touch of earthly riches. Though they could not physically interact with the sarcophagi, their spectral fingers traced the intricate patterns carved into the stone, as if trying to absorb the opulence through ethereal means.
As the Boo continued to marvel at the treasures before them, a soft whisper filled their ears. They floated toward a particular sarcophagus. Judging by the new design and intact luster, this person passed recently. The Boo looked at the placard floating on top of it, curious to know whose grave this was.
The whisper turned into a groan.
The heavy lid of the sarcophagus shifted as a large, skeletal claw moved it aside. A glowing red eye stared at the Boo. The spirit yelped and covered their eyes. The skeletal figure emerging from the sarcophagus. Its bones creaked and cracked with each movement, as if it hadn't been disturbed in centuries. The red eye continued to glow ominously, piercing through the darkness of the graveyard.
With a raspy voice that sent shivers down the Boo's ethereal spine, the skeletal being spoke. “Finally,” it said. “The month of fright is here.”
The constant eye-contact was too much for the shy spirit, so they vanished. The skeletal being cackled as other sarcophagi opened. A dozen other skeletons rose from the graves, sporting spiked shells and bracelets. The red-eyed one looked at his reflection on the lid and fixed the hair on his skull into a bun.
“There he goes to see his husband.”
“Every fright month…”
“I still think he should have married that Mushroom Princess.”
The other Dry Koopas stared at the one who said that disapprovingly, causing them to slink back into the sarcophagus. A Dry Bone with a metallic gold shell crossed her arm and touched her cheek, “Look at him. Ever since he met and married that little human, he’s been so happy, even after death,” she said.
“Their rule over the Darklands was glorious! They brought peace and honor to our kingdom,” said a male Dry Koopa.
“Bowser may have had a rough life at first, but everything worked out in the end.”
Bowser removed some moss on his ribs and adjusted his spiky accessories. He listened to their words, a faint smile playing on his skeletal face. He had come a long way from his days of loneliness and bitterness. Meeting Luigi had changed everything for him - he had shown him love, compassion, and the power of redemption. Satisfied with his appearance, the Koopa climbed out of his grave. “I’m heading out!”
“Travel safely, Bowser! And say hello to Luigi for me!”
“Bye, Mom!”
Other skeletal relatives bid their goodbyes. As he made his way across the graveyard, his bony tail wagged madly with excitement, causing a faint rattling sound that echoed through the night. Orbs of light appeared around the haunted space, casting an eerie glow. More members of the Royal Koopa Family arose from their graves and began to sing and dance; after all, they had a full thirty days of sentience to enjoy!
Bowser crossed the red gates protecting the graveyard and sprinted to the Boo Woods, ready to find his love.
.
.
.
The Dry Koopa looked at the dilapidated mansion before him. Its cracked walls and broken windows were a testament to the passage of time and neglect. As he stood there, a gust of wind blew through the decrepit structure, causing the remaining shutters to creak in protest. Windows and pillars were covered in vines and moss. Lightning struck overhead, lighting the eerie floors. Some of the windows had eerie yellow lights.
Bowser rattled with excitement as he knocked on the cracked door. The door eerily swung open on its own. He stepped forward into the darkness and looked around; the door slammed shut behind him. Eerie whispers echoed around him. Lights slowly turned on and furniture started to float. The Dry Koopa’s tail wagged, “Luigi, are you here?” he asked.
A chill went down his spine as something cold touched his shoulder and a voice replied, “Hello~”
The Dry Koopa turned his head around 180 degrees and smiled at the ghost behind him. His body was somewhat translucent with a greenish hue. The ghostly figure floated in front of the Dry Koopa, its ethereal form flickering in and out of existence. His once brown hair was now white and long; his overalls were replaced with a light green poet shirt, black pants, and boots.
Bowser grabbed the ghost and pulled him into a hug, nuzzling his skull against his face. Luigi squealed with joy. As Bowser embraced the ghostly figure, memories flooded back into his mind. The first date they went on, how Luigi became an ambassador and helped with the peace proceedings. How terrified they both were about announcing their relationship publicly and the pure joy on their wedding day. Luigi peppered ghostly kisses all over his face. “I missed you, amore,” he said.
The Koopa smiled. “I came here as soon as I woke up!” he said. “My mom says hi.”
“Oh, that’s sweet. Hopefully I can come visit the graveyard soon,”
Luigi linked arms with him, floating beside Bowser as he walked further into the haunted mansion. The two chatted, reminiscing on the good times when they were alive. As they strolled through the dimly lit corridors, memories of their past adventures flooded their minds. Luigi couldn't help but chuckle as he recalled the time Bowser accidentally got stuck in a warp pipe during one of their battles.
"Remember when we had to team up to defeat that giant Boo?" Luigi asked, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
Bowser laughed heartily, his deep voice echoing through the eerie halls. "How could I forget? You were so scared, you jumped into my arms!"
They continued down the hallway, passing by portraits of long-deceased residents and cobweb-covered furniture. The mansion's ghostly inhabitants watched them curiously, some whispering among themselves. Seeing the undead couple was the highlight of the year, that and because other loved ones, no matter what dead form they took, could freely visit.
Luigi leaned his head on Bowser’s shoulder, “I hear Junior is doing well.”
Bowser chuckled. “Of course he is! He’s our son,” he said.
As they walked further into the mansion, Luigi couldn't help but feel a sense of nostalgia. The memories of their past adventures flooded his mind, reminding him of all the times they had fought against each other as enemies, only to eventually become allies and then husbands.
“All the Koopalings are faring well too,” he said.
Bowser nodded. “I’m glad there was no fighting over the throne after we passed,” he replied. “Hell, they even divided the kingdom amongst themselves.”
Luigi guided him down a hallway and into a massive ballroom; spirits floated all around, talking and dancing. Several pieces of furniture glided around the room. As Bowser and Luigi entered the grand ballroom, the ethereal atmosphere engulfed them. The spirits, adorned in elegant attire from various eras, gracefully twirled and conversed with one another. The room itself seemed alive, with chandeliers illuminating the space and casting a soft glow on the floating furniture.
The Boo glided around Bowser before standing before him. Luigi extended his hand and grinned, “Can I have this dance?”
“Always, my love.”
With a slight nod and a gentle smile, Bowser took Luigi's hand in his massive clawed one. Their touch sent shivers down their spines, but it was a comforting sensation that neither of them could deny. The Boo, sensing the intensity of the moment, dimmed the lights and conjured a soft melody that filled the room.
As the music began to play, Luigi and Bowser moved gracefully across the floor. Their steps were perfectly synchronized, each movement flowing effortlessly between them. Two souls that not even death could separate.

Husband?
[A/n:there is no bowser x male reader, so I'm writing it]
Summary:we all know bowser is a king, but who's the queen? Is there a queen? No there another King, not a queen for the intimidating Koopa King
Type:scenario:Bowser X Male reader
~
King Bowser, the king if Koopas. He's not that big of a mystery, big guy, king, initiating, Mario's arch nemesis. Yeah he's not a mystery, but when it comes to his wife it is. He had never mentioned her, and neither has Bowser Jr so does he have one? Most people don't know, but there's hints. Before he leaves in the morning someone pulls him in and, they think, gives him a kiss leaving him stunned for a moment, Bowser Jr calling Bowser dad, but someone else papa?, Bowser Jr says dad's when talking about his parents, etc. So who is his husband? Since it's definitely not a wife. Well that's what the whole kingdom(I think) is trying to figure out. So one day, a brave Koopa Troopa decided to investigate, well hopefully he'll make it out of the castle. Waving goodbye to his friends the Koopa started to go to the castle. Surprisingly it was easy to get in the castle. He looked around and seen it empty, so he adventured in. Looking around cautiously, he heard Bowser. The Koopa peeked from behind the wall and seen Bowser with someone. It was a guy, quite tall if you ask him. The guy and holding Bowser hand and talking with him about something Bowser Jr related. The Koopa couldn't say for such that you too were dating so he stayed put until he could deny or prove it. And soon enough he seen you kiss Bowsers nose, and normally he'd say that maybe your just close friends or something but the look on Bowsers face confirmed that you two are possibly married, so are you the other king? Are you the papa Bowser Jr talks about. If so why didn't the kingdom know sooner. The little Koopa didn't want to stay any longer so as fast as he could he rushed out of the castle without getting caught to tell the others. Yes everyone was shocked but their king decides wether or not to tell them. So they didn't bring it up. But now they know Bowser has a husband not a wife, surprisingly.

Hesitant Affection (Bowser x TransMasc/Male Reader)
Some feel good fluff with everyone’s favorite Koopa <3 This is kinda just ramblings since I couldn’t nail down a solid plot so forgive me if it’s a little chaotic. It’s a bit short and scattered so if you’d like something more specific just send me a request! The more specific the better.
Note: For things like this, I imagine Bowser a little more humanoid than his in-game model so this may come across in my writing but I do my best to kinda leave it up to interpretation. He’s still very tall and large, but more proportionate to human standards and lizardy in my mind. Also, unrelated because it doesn’t come up here but chubby Bowser > ripped Bowser, I will take no arguments.
CW: The level of transition for this reader character is unspecified. He/him pronouns are used here and there, but it's mostly a second person POV. A small part mentions the reader’s aversion to dresses and wearing them as a child, but is never forced to wear one in the present.

Bowser. Praised by some, feared by many, and loved by a select few that he allows. Up until recently that list included only the Koopalings and on a good day, Kamek. But then this human, how curious he’s not afraid of the cruel King of the Koopas, wanders into his life and soon, he can't imagine his castle without him.
There’s a touch more life to the place, his subjects are happier with him around. He often helps in the kitchen or tidying up a mess. He hates to admit it, but this strange human may be changing Bowser too. He feels less of an inclination to cause random havoc knowing it would upset you, both to see him hurt but also others too (curse that large, kind heart you have).
He’s quite the textbook gentleman, holding doors and pulling out your chair. But get him to engage in romance outside of what he was taught to provide and he becomes a mess. A small kiss on the nose seemed to make his fiery hair steam while his face burned with uncharacteristic sheepishness. Insist on holding his hand and he won’t even turn your way, to hide his embarrassed face of course, all while extending his grasp to your much, much smaller hand because how could he say no to his beloved? Not when he asked so sweetly, too. You’d be the death of him, he always thought to himself, but he’d die happy at least.
On one occasion, an unexpected invite to the Mushroom Kingdom for a banquet found its way to your hands, Bowser insisting it must be a mistake because why would they invite him to such a thing?
The invitation was vague. Peach’s large cursive writing, in pink pen of course, simply invited ‘The King of the Koopas and one guest to attend a banquet at my castle in the Mushroom Kingdom.’ The date and dress code were detailed at the bottom. You hadn’t been to a party like this since you were very young, forced into an itchy dress that you didn’t particularly like for many reasons, more being added on as you discovered yourself further. While you had faith Bowser wouldn’t urge any sort of similar clothing on you, he still insisted on letting you know that wasn’t happening if you wished to go and you were grateful.
That night, all eyes were on the Koopa King and the human hanging off his arm. The princess greeted you cheerfully, inviting you both in and explaining the banquet’s purpose as a celebration of peace. She was grateful to Bowser for his change in behavior, and later to you when in conversation over drinks you explained you may have been the reason for it. You were introduced to the ever famous Mario Brothers, delightful duo they were, and found amusement when you caught your date for the evening glaring daggers at the mustachioed plumber in red.
I see you helping him with the Koopalings, Bowser Jr. namely, and him swooning. Watching you hold his hand in a crowd so you don’t separate from him makes his heart flutter, letting them help you in the kitchen to make his birthday breakfast and smiling (and almost crying but he’d never admit it) when he passes the cracked kitchen door.
He sleeps on his front due to his shell and sometimes, you like to stick cotton balls on his spikes while he dozes for no real reason other than the human fascination of having the ability to do so. It entertains you and when Bowser discovers it, he finds it cute. He also can’t get them off himself so be a dear and help him, won’t you?
