[Labyrinth Lord] Tomb of the Serpent Kings Session 1 (also MapTool)
[Labyrinth Lord] Tomb of the Serpent Kings Session 1 (also MapTool) A while ago I started playing with some people on an online server. That was about the time when I decided that I should maybe be playing more often than just GMing. Unfortunately life intervenes a lot, and lately there haven’t been that many games in the main campaign to keep me busy. I am also co-DMing a Shadowrun game lately,…

Halloween, Movies and My New Favorite DnD Tool
Today I’ll talk about our incredible Halloween decorations, a couple movies I saw and a new-to-me DnD tool that I may be a little addicted to. Welp, it happened again. Remember how before, one line above, I said something about “incredible” Halloween decorations? Yeah, that was sarcasm. We didn’t decorate for Halloween. It’s not intentional. It just kind of…happened. I could probably make some…

jack, você conhece algum site em que a gente possa fazer aquelas imagens de mapas fictícios, colocar os nomes e tal?
Oi, anon!

I am sitting down RIGHT NOW to run my first in-person D&D game in nearly fifteen years. I've been playing online via MapTools, then Roll20, for ages and ages now—but tonight I get to walk four people in their forties who have never played a roleplaying game before through character creation. I could not be more excited!
(To maintain my indie cred: I'm playing Succulent Sorcerers tomorrow and Troika! soon after. But D&D is also fun and these people sound rad!)

I have my own custom world called Clandestine, Andest for short. I originally created Andest for a fantasy novel I was writing, but as soon as a friend of mine got me into DnD, I knew I had to convert it into a homebrew paradise. The underlying premise is that the world is so overflowing with mana that literally everyone is born with some sort of magical influence. I call them Aspects, and they operate kind of like if Cutie Marks from MLP combined with bending from ATLA. There are 13 in all, with all sorts of flavoring on top. The Aspects serve as a tool for RP, and an analogous way to gain power regardless of class/race etc.
I had two goals when making this world and it's lore. The first was to establish a world where racism just wasn't a thing. Due to the mana of the Aspects, we have an in-world reason for people to look like anyone they want to, regardless of racial features or other stuff they want to use due to mutations and bodily changes caused spontaneously by the magic. It is not uncommon for people to look different from their parents, which makes it easier for back-story establishment for them, as well as finding art for the tokens (we play on MapTools so art is a big deal). I also made the mutations mechanical, giving stats for stuff like prehensile tails, quadrupeds, and so on.
The second reason was that I am a huge fan of magic and mana and the potential of primordial energy, and I always felt it was a shame that only wizards and mages had access to its powers in fantasy settings. Letting a fighter coat his blade in flame is sick, or a barbarian with skin made of stone, things like that. I wanted more flavor, more potential of magic, and freedom both for character creation for players and world expansion for me (the dm). I get to add the cool stuff like floating islands, dungeons and artifacts without worry, since my self-established rules mostly restrict potency, not flavor, of whatever I make.
I love my world, and having started it as a novel helped me have a much richer environment for my players to explore. Having them alter its history as well has also been incredibly fun.
Tell me abt your favorite ttrpg homebrew setting or worldbuilding thing you’ve made! Why do you like it!

Below are the best Roll20 alternatives that you should try. Roll20 gives so many tools to improve your storytelling games but still, it doesn't have everything that you need.

visual basis for cavalry eldritchcyberpunk is “Frankie Adams as Adam Jensen nudged to the left and rotated a bit” and that’s entirely because that was the ref folder I sent to our budding Shadowrun GM before the campaign just fizzled out and, well, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it
#I mean she only has the one bionic arm with a blade in it#and technically she’s way more cybered up than Adam#but…y’know. the visual inspiration is still there. and I’ve still got the little maptools token of her.#on the one hand I would’ve loved to get to play her#but on the other I wouldn’t have ended up with an absolutely wack cyberpunk universe of my own to put in the mind rotisserie#cavalry eldritchcyberpunk#old ones and oligarchs#terminal crazy razorgirl

back on old software audio + file ripping
and this time its weird. after posting about The Phantom Menace maptool, @whiskysourz suggested i do this:
i did that today. the game looked like this:
and honestly nothing too interesting or out of the ordinary. except ummmmmm. This audio. called "BORDOPEN.WAV", significantly lower quality than all other wavs in the cd, the only one to use a human voice, and hilariously inexplicable:
i am FUCKED up laughing over this it soundslike Cboyardee

Moderate Success!
I still haven’t tracked down exact measurements for the stadium at Soldier Field, but I have found figures that are close enough for my purposes, thanks to CalcMaps – Maptools. Using their distance tool, I was able to put points on a satellite photo of the stadium itself and get a rough estimate for length and width. It’s honestly shocking to me how hard it is to find out what I’d thought would…

Looking for Orc
Adventuring party looking for: One Orc or Half-Orc, handy with a weapon
When: Thursdays, 7 PM EST- 11 PM EST for the foreseeable future.
Where: On internet, via the magic of maptool.
Knowledge of Pathfinder required. (D&D 3.5 knowledge acceptable, the rule system is like 95% the same with the specific content altered.)
Martial classes desired; melee or ranged. Party already includes full arcane and full divine casters.
Game is about tribal orcs in a tribal society, but alignments tend more toward neutral than evil or good. Lawful and Chaotic both acceptable, just don’t be a dick... to other PCs.
Send private message if interested.
Game was supposed to start last week, but one party member bailed. We are ready to start, we just need one more Orc (or Half-Orc.)
