Let's Talk About Lincoln And His Dads, Okay?
I think people claiming that Lincoln and Grant "aren't so different after all" because, like everyone else in the show, they both have blood on their hands, have mostly missed the mark on where the core of Lincoln's issues with his dad(s) lie in the first place.
Moreover, I'm tired of people insinuating that Lincoln's troubles pale in comparison to Normal's or Scary's or Hermie's, and I'm tired of people saying that Lincoln is overreacting, or that Lincoln is a hypocrite for calling out his dad's behavior, or that he is in the wrong for setting boundaries, or that he's ungrateful, or that he's responsible for ensuring his dad's emotional wellbeing and not the other way around!
*breathes* So let's. Let's finally talk about Lincoln and Grant (and Marco also him).
[WOAH THERE! Hey you, yeah you, this is a long-ass post, mhm, it's one of those, so please keep that in mind before venturing below the cut. Maybe grab yourself a drink or a bite to eat first, yeah? Additionally, sorry the transcript stuff is a bit messy in this one, tumblr has a 30 image limit and well, I had to find workarounds. Also, I haven't yet added alt text for the transcript screenshots- I plan to when I have a bit more energy for it, but I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause in the meantime!]
Part 1/4: "Honesty is hardly ever heard, and mostly what I need from you"
Lincoln is certainly a pacifist at heart (in more recent times important examples of this include Lincoln's refusal to harm Scary in the Swallows household, as well as Lincoln being the only one of the teens to successfully avoid using violence in front of d00d during their most recent standoff with Willy), and in good paladin fashion functions as the group's moral compass the majority of the time.
Despite this, Lincoln's morals are not so simplistic and idealistic as to not differentiate between different motives for violence, nor does he view acts of violence in and of themselves as signs that a person is "evil" or "irredeemable". He can for example, see the difference between the acts of Willy and those of the kiddads, as he tries to explain when confronted by the other teens on the matter:
Tumblr media
In fact, even after Grant tells Linc all of this during the incursion:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lincoln's primary goal is still to save his dad first and foremost, then offer him the room to explain himself, without immediately chalking him up as a bad person because of what he has done.
Tumblr media
Lincoln certainly doesn't approve of Grant and his violence, though he can understand that things are seldom black and white. But the killing is far from the only issue here. In fact, it's not even the main issue.
Grant creates a foundation based on trust and accountability whose importance in the Li-Wilson household is hammered in from the very first episode.
Tumblr media
And we see throughout the early episodes of the season just how strongly Lincoln believes that Grant would never lie to him.
Tumblr media
Then of course the incursion point encounter happens. There are several elements of this encounter that we will gloss over for now and go back to later, but of immediate importance is the fact that this interaction serves as direct confirmation for Lincoln that his dad has in fact been lying to him his entire life.
Tumblr media
Additionally, he learns that Grant possesses a deep hatred of himself, wants to die, perceives himself as "broken beyond repair", and fears that Lincoln will somehow wind up just like him. That's a lot for one kid to have dropped on them, let alone all at once and without warning!
So- Lincoln wants to confront his dad after this both because he wants his dad to explain himself and take accountability for his dishonesty and for his actions more generally, and because he is concerned for his dad's wellbeing.
Tumblr media
Now let's look at how Grant has, over the course of the season, responded to Lincoln's attempts to get him to take responsibility for his actions, and talk about his mental health:
The first thing Grant does is pull a classic Wilson "we'll talk about it later". Then the very next thing he does is lie to Lincoln again, now pretending that his plan is to fix things with Erin by offering her a gift (when of course he's actually set out to steal the sun)
Tumblr media
Then as a deflection when Lincoln further tries to confront him about the lying, he indirectly equates everything he has kept secret from Lincoln (see the incursion point stuff) to "little white lies" and, contrary to the philosophy he so heavily instilled in Lincoln, argues that sometimes lying can protect the people one cares about:
Tumblr media
Which as a point of interest I would like to compare and contrast to something Lincoln says in an earlier episode:
Tumblr media
"lies can protect" vs "protecting is also trusting"- anyways moving on,
From there Grant's plan to steal the sun eventually comes to light (heh) and gets foiled, forcing the teens to be the mature ones in the situation and try to negotiate something with Erin. While he is certainly disappointed by everything going on, however, Lincoln's priorities vis-à-vis Grant are still, first and foremost, to ensure that he is safe, and when time allows for it get an apology from him and get him to talk openly about everything he has withheld. At this point in time Lincoln, while obviously angry at his dad, still very clearly cares about his dad and just wants to be able to talk with him without all the lies or deflection or excuses.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then the teens are backed into a corner when their attempts at negotiation go sour, and ultimately wind up helping Grant steal the sun. Once that is over, Lincoln tries to confront his dad again, now with regards to some of the things he said about himself:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Do note that last bit especially as it will be of relevance in the next section)
Then after Grant ignores the other teens when they try to talk to him, Lincoln calls him out and once again asks him to apologize, in part for having told Lincoln previously that they were dangerous and that he was not to hang out with them:
Tumblr media
(as you might have guessed, Grant does not apologize).
Then it is established that the "zone of truth" in the Li-Wilson household isn't actually a spell but an agreed upon promise between Marco, Grant, and Lincoln to tell only the truth when someone calls upon the zone of truth, further cementing the degree to which honesty is an important Li-Wilson family value. Whilst in the zone of truth, however, Grant beats around the bush with regards to his intentions, and the teens ultimately decide that they do not want him to come along with them to the church of the doodler, as he is untrustworthy, in addition to Lincoln saying that he needs some space for his own sake. Grant then pretends to respect this decision, though he is in fact once again lying through his teeth, and sneaks back on later.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Before exiting the bus for the first time, however, Lincoln tries to get his dad to open up a bit about his feelings. Grant's response?
Tumblr media
Time after time after time, Grant refuses to confront himself and address anything from what occurred at the incursion, and in fact adds on to everything with a whole new slew of lies, and with each failed attempt at connection the rift between Lincoln and Grant increases. And Lincoln, true to his values and how he was raised, is not a hypocrite in wanting openness and accountability from his dad. Lincoln is not and has never acted like he is perfect and beyond making mistakes, but Lincoln takes responsibility for his actions, even when the degree to which he is actually complicit in the crime at hand is questionable. He writes a letter to the families of the firemen because he feels responsible for their deaths. He apologizes to Taylor for lying to him about the bracelets and helps not only Taylor but also Nicky escape the clutches of the FBI, even though the consequence of doing so could easily have been his own death. When he thinks he may have inadvertently lead Hero on, his immediate decision is to take accountability for it and clear things up. All of this in addition to consistently apologizing to his friends when he thinks he may have hurt them for one reason or another.
This is also an important thing to consider when we talk about the place of violence in the show. Yes all the characters, including Lincoln himself, have had to kill at some point or another for the sake of survival and protecting the ones they love. But Lincoln does not use the blood on his hands to justify violence in future decisions. Despite the fact that he has had to kill before, Lincoln, as mentioned in the beginning of this essay, continues to try incredibly hard to act as pacifist whenever he can, choosing to protect those around him with as little collateral damage as possible. Does he have a perfect track record? No! Does he still try his damned hardest to choose kindness and mercy? Absolutely! And this is an important distinction especially between Lincoln and Grant.
And then Grant kills Terry. Now Lincoln must shift his priorities towards protecting his friends from his dad, but in running after Scary still finds himself forced to confront him. So what does Grant have to say regarding his actions?
Tumblr media
Both Lincoln and Scary are right to be furious with this response, Terry Jr. is dead and all Grant can offer in response is what is essentially another excuse. Grant's mental state does not absolve him of responsibility or accountability for his actions, which as Lincoln points out (and repeats later) consist not only of the singular choice of shooting Terry, but of every choice he has made before and after that. "I'm sorry your dad is broken" obviously doesn't bring Terry Jr. back, but perhaps more importantly demonstrates that Grant is still not willing to reflect on his actions any further than that and work on himself moving forward.
So Lincoln does what is perhaps the most difficult thing he has done in his life, and disowns his father. This is not a rash, impulsive decision. As established, Lincoln has given Grant many chances throughout the season to address his behavior and at least fucking *talk* with Lincoln about his mental state, but he refused. He refused, not because he means harm, but because Grant truly believes himself to be fundamentally broken and irreparable, and doesn’t see the effect that his own suffering is having on his son. This, in addition to continuously failing to take Lincoln seriously and treat him as more than a little kid, both in failing to listen to Lincoln's voices of concern as well as in disregarding any of his proposals to go about things differently (whether that means avoiding violence, trusting rather than lying, or both).
So when Lincoln says:
"It's not about what you just did now, Dad. It's all your choices. You chose me. There wasn't some passion, or, or just a kid. You chose me as your kid, knowing you were broken. You can't take that back. And… I love you, and I hate that you made me love you, when… you are who you are and you knew it."
This isn't Lincoln saying that Grant should not have had a kid because he is mentally unwell or has trauma, it is Lincoln saying that Grant continues to make choices without acknowledging his agency in those choices and the effect they have on those around him, instead choosing to pin his mistakes on his perceived brokenness without any resolution to do something about that.
And before you say, "but Grant didn't have a choice in becoming Lincoln's parent since he saved him from the Titanic":
This simply isn't true, as strictly speaking there was nothing stopping Grant and Marco from putting Lincoln up for adoption if one or both of them did not feel themselves to be ready or capable of taking care of a child and
Ignoring Lincoln's exact phrasing, "choosing to be a parent" is not just about the literal choice to have a child, it's about every choice you make before and after that. It's choosing not to express your concerns over parenthood with your spouse, which based on Grant's track record:
Tumblr media
-Is definitely in-character for him. Conversely, in Marco's case, it may be choosing not to ask your partner about their feelings on the matter (because, really, asking Grant on the spot while literally on a sinking ship if he's okay with adopting the baby they just found is kinda rough). It's choosing not to go to therapy (not that we know whether Grant specifically did/does or not but all the same). It's choosing not to apologize when your child is upset with you because of something you did. It's choosing not to take them or their friends seriously. It's choosing to lie instead of trust. It's an endless amount of choices that Grant (and Marco) made every step of the way!
As a final note for this section, what's particularly unfortunate is that even with Lincoln's disownment, Grant still has failed to show any major signs of change. Note this telling exchange (from episode 40):
Grant: I-I understand that. I just thought. Just something that just occurred to me. Hey Dood.
Dood: Yeah?
Grant: Why did you kill those two guys?
Dood: Because I love you so much and I wanted to protect you.
Grant: Okay. That's all I wanted to know.
In which Grant is still making excuses rather than owning up to or apologizing for anything or striving to change his behavior in the future. What's great about Grant's "point" here too is that the two guards that d00d killed were absolutely unnecessary deaths, so this example does anything but work in Grant's favor.
Part 2/4: "My mother hates her body, we share the same outline"
But this is only part of the problem. As aforementioned, we learn early on and see repeated on multiple occasions that Grant thinks ill of himself to the point of believing that he deserves death, and does not want Lincoln to be anything like him.
This affects Lincoln in two major ways. Perhaps most obviously, it leaves Lincoln greatly concerned for his dad's wellbeing, which in turn acts as his main motivation for trying (and failing) to get Grant to explore and explain those feelings. Additionally, however, Grant's self-loathing also has a passive but deeply damaging effect on Lincoln's self-worth. The most important indication of this is when Lincoln says:
"Okay. Look, Scary, I just... You know what? I don't even care. I just needed a friend and I don't know… I don’t know what you're going through, but… no, my dad always said you can't love somebody unless you love yourself, right? Well, last time I asked him if he loved himself, he… He doesn't. So… I don't know, so maybe he doesn't love me either. And you seem to know what that's like, and, you're my friend! You're dealing with these things and I'm just here. I just, I don't know! I don't love myself either! I don't know! But I know that more people will die if we can't do this together, and you're the only person, like, in this group— I mean you guys are, I mean— [sighs] Look, you can go. I'm not going to stop you. You go if you want to go. I'm done."
Also classic Lincoln move to say he doesn't care then proceed to hug Scary through an Eldritch Blast. In this essay, on why people misuse the word "apathy" in applying it to Lincoln,
Though the issue comes up again in a less obvious but very interesting way when Lincoln says that:
Tumblr media
Which I assume probably seems pretty out of left field. To explain a bit what I'm trying to get at here, consider the following scenario:
Your parent, who you care about immensely, possesses certain qualities (say, idk, intrusive thoughts or mood swings or delusional thoughts or *something*) that they possess great shame over, and truly, wholeheartedly believe makes them "evil" or unlovable or even outright deserving of death. Of course, you do not believe that your parent is any of these things, it hurts to see that they feel this way about them-self, so you try your best to support them, even if you know deep down that you are their child and this should not be your responsibility. Your parent does not see the effect that their mental state is having on yours, does not take your voices of concern seriously, and mostly leaves you feeling like you are talking to a wall.
This hurts already, but it gets worse. You are your parent's child, and you are human, and so you inevitably find yourself with some of the characteristics that your parent loathes so much in them-self. Maybe you have similar thought patterns. Maybe you've made similar mistakes. Your parent doesn't love them-self because of these qualities that you now see in yourself, so how can you be sure that they do not hate you for them too? Do they believe that you deserve to die for these things as well? Your parent obviously assures you to the contrary, after all, they love you more than anything. But your parent fails to offer any meaningful line of distinction between their flaws and yours (after all, there isn't one, not really), and continues to assert that, unlike you, they really do deserve to die. Your parent is a hypocrite, and their reassurance does little to convince you.
Hopefully that makes some sense. With regards to the "dreams about killing my dads" part, mostly what I'm trying to say is that these dreams, while certainly very different from Grant's conscious thoughts about violence, still tread the line of mimicking them to some degree, and Grant's "I deserve to die because of how my brain works, don't be anything like me because that's bad!" really doesn't leave Lincoln with a healthy way to process and interpret this fact about himself, even if these dreams don't actually say anything about who he is as a person.
Anyways all that to say, on multiple levels Grant's unwillingness to even try to love himself and treat himself better has been having effects on his son that he can't even begin to realize, in addition to everything discussed in the first bit.
"But baba," I hear you say, "what about Marco? Why has Lincoln seemingly disowned both of his dads?"
Part 3/4: Three is the loneliest number
Well, I think there's a couple things going on here. For one thing, I think in a sense Lincoln sees his dads as kind of a "package deal", which is to say that from his pov disowning Grant means Marco would have to pick a side, and though it pains him immensely (as we see evidence of on several occasions), Lincoln would ultimately rather give up Marco than have Grant be left alone without either of them, because he will always love and care about Grant, and because he's selfless that way.
Additionally, for a good long while, Lincoln doesn't actually appear to harbor any resentment towards Marco:
Tumblr media
However, this later part of the season has brought with it a new wave of disillusionment, and in its wake Lincoln has finally come to question the last major issue characterizing his relationship with his parents: social isolation.
We have known from basically the first episode of the season that Lincoln has lived a very isolated, lonely life, and that the only reason he's even going to public high school now is because he finally convinced Grant to let him:
Tumblr media
As a side note, I have seen discussion of the fact that since Lincoln was rescued from the Titanic, it's possible that he was homeschooled solely because he did not legally exist. The above statement from Matt seems to work against this theory, in addition to the fact that if Lincoln was missing legal papers to get into elementary school... That would also prevent him from going to high school. Also, I mean. If you actually were to find an abandoned baby there's a whole legal process you're supposed to go through, and since Lincoln surely wouldn't have any close blood relatives around, that would still leave the possibility for Grant and Marco to adopt him legally if they wanted to (and if they chose not to go through said process, that's kind of on them?). Which isn't to say that this theory is out of the question, but in any case being homeschooled is one thing, whereas the actual degree of social isolation Lincoln goes through growing up is way more than just that, as we will delve into.
Now, we know that Grant eventually puts an end to Lincoln and Normal seeing each other on the basis that Lark and Sparrow are dangerous, which... Itself is actually fair tbh, in particular given what we now know about Hero. Not fair to Lincoln or Normal, obviously, but understandable. Much less acceptable, is the fact that Lincoln actually grows up without any friends his age whatsoever:
Tumblr media
We understand of course that the motives behind this extreme social isolation are not malicious or otherwise done with ill-intent, but that doesn't make this even remotely okay! Of course then Lincoln is very clingy and perhaps even territorial over his dads, to the point where one of his biggest fears is his parents having another child who would take some of their attention away from him- they've created an environment in which they are basically all he has!
As a direct result of this, Lincoln gets lonely very easily, and when he finally does make some friends of his own, he will do anything and everything for them, even if it means risking his own life (at least then he isn't alive and lonely!)
Tumblr media
This is also why Lincoln is so especially distraught after the loss of Mr. Kicks, a digital avatar whom he considered his best (and only) friend.
Additionally, Lincoln's fear of returning to his lonesome childhood creates an unfortunate scenario in which he cannot be honest with his dads about the fact that he is being bullied at school
Tumblr media
Even though that is definitely the case (and in fact we see it first-hand on many occasions), because to do so would run the risk of his dads taking him out of public school, and that, to him, is worse.
Lincoln beginning to view this aspect of his childhood (the isolation but also the over-protectiveness and overbearing attitude more generally) for what it is is why Matt's intros have recently shifted from "schooled at home" to "schooled in prison", in addition to pretty directly saying that high school was like heaven compared to his home life (in episode 40), and I don't think Lincoln is even remotely in the wrong for looking back at his isolation and thinking "hey, even if you had good intentions, that was kind of fucked up actually, and I need to distance myself from you for my own sake."
Not that Lincoln wanting freedom from his overbearing dads is a new thing! I mean apart from what one can logically infer from Lincoln convincing Grant to let him go to public school, Matt does drop a bunch of telling details here and there such as Lincoln's favorite sound being "the silence of being home alone and free". It's just that now is when these feelings are finally starting to come to the surface.
It is also something that Lincoln naturally would hold against both Grant and Marco, because they are both aware of and responsible for this aspect of his upbringing (whether Marco acted actively or as an enabler in the matter notwithstanding- though I would look no further than both Grant and Marco getting red cards the one time they tried letting Lincoln play soccer with other kids to observe how that family dynamic plays out), hence feeling the need to cut himself off from the both of them in order to set a long-overdue boundary. That said, to be honest with you, I really don't think he's actually all that upset with Marco, and would mostly just like to see him again.
If the events of the Titanic help to ease any aspect of Lincoln's frustration, it would be this one. Not in the sense that it magically makes what Lincoln went through growing up okay, but it does still recontextualize Grant and Marco's degree of overbearingness and (part of) why they are how they are, and I absolutely think that Lincoln would have sympathy for that.
So, where does that leave us?
Part 4/4: What remains (+ the case study of Scary)
"But baba," you say, "Grant and Marco are not just their mistakes! They've both done so many things right as parents, and they love Lincoln more than anything!"
I turn to you, tears in my eyes. "I know," I say, "I know, but that does not contradict or erase the fact that they have inadvertently hurt Lincoln in many, many ways, and he has a right to be upset with them, and express that, and set boundaries if he feels the need to."
You sigh. "So do you think Grant is a good dad or a bad one?" you ask.
I shake my head. "He's just... He's just a dad. A dad who's had a rough swing of things from the beginning. He never meant to hurt Lincoln, and I truly believe he's got a good heart, but I want to see him try harder. I need to see him try harder than he currently is to better himself, for Lincoln's sake as much as his own."
Is... More or less how I feel. I absolutely agree that as a parent Grant obviously gives a shit, and my intention here is absolutely not to say "hey actually, Grant is awful!"
As I mentioned at the very beginning of this essay, however, collectively I have found over the course of the season that Lincoln's trauma and struggles have gone severely understated and undermined, sometimes to the point of even turning him into the bad guy or depicting him as acting dramatic for a decision that I think was very brave of him, actually. So... It does feel necessary to me to point out that, as much as I care about Grant and recognize that he's suffered immensely too, he's still made a lot of mistakes over the course of the season, and still has a lot of room to grow as a person.
As things currently are, I would not blame Lincoln if he did not forgive Grant by the end of the season. Do I think that's what's gonna happen? No lol.
If you'll excuse a mini side-tangent, because for now I don't really want to make this a separate post, the mid-season evolution of Lincoln and Scary's relationship is actually a great case study for Lincoln's capacity for forgiveness, in addition to his inability to give up on people:
Tony Pepperoni's murder is, I would argue, an attack against Lincoln most personally (relative to the other teens). Aside from Lincoln having the strongest pacifistic tendencies of the group, it's in his home, it's in front of Marco, as established in the 3rd section Tony Pepperoni, by virtue of having been over for dinners at the Li-Wilson household before, is someone Lincoln knows more personally than the other teens and one of the only people in his life he could have possibly approximated to a friend. Most importantly though, Scary goes behind Lincoln's back in letting Willy out and disclosing the location of the party, and that is a significant breach of trust.
So Lincoln kicks Scary out of the house (and more or less out of the group by extension) because protecting the others from her is the most important thing at that point in time (sound familiar?). For the next bit, Lincoln's behavior towards Scary becomes a juggling act of keeping a close eye on her to make sure she doesn't cause more harm (and yes, it's also when they are meanest with each other), but also keeping a close eye on her to look after her (a notable example of this being that he doesn't leave her behind in the hall of mirrors, even when it would have been easier and perhaps even "beneficial" to do so in the context of the anchor quest).
And yet despite all the mutual hostility, Lincoln without question also fights the hardest to get Scary back. He breaks the pick as a sign of trust (and as Freddie put it: "that's love babeeey") and to show her she's welcome back in the group, follows through on this decision despite the fact that it creates a temporary rift between him and the others (Normal and Taylor) who oppose her return (perhaps a good time to also say as a reminder that Lincoln was the most against letting Willy out in the first place), breaks a door down to protect her from Willy even when everyone else in the house treats him as crazy for doing so, refuses to fight Scary when she goes on the offense, and hugs her through a god damn eldritch blast because he can't let her leave and hurt more people but still cares about her to the point that he would literally choose to die before hurting her or giving up on fighting for her. Like, if that's not love and forgiveness, I don't fucking know what is. This in addition to him encouraging the others to go easy on her and otherwise looking out for her past that point.
Tumblr media
So do I think Lincoln Li-Wilson has it in him to forgive Grant in spite of it all? That is a resounding yes from me. Will the events of the Titanic facilitate this if only by painting Grant's situation in a more sympathetic light and showcasing some of his virtues? Totally, I mean, there's a reason Anthony decided to make the arc go this way. But will I be a bit disappointed if this forgiveness comes without any major growth on Grant's part? Also. Also yes yeah.
MM. I DON'T REALLY KNOW HOW TO END THIS ONE TBH. Heh. Well, thank you for one thing, for taking the time to read a post this long. If you're reading this not too long after I posted it I am most definitely pacing around rn going "oh god they hate it!" but uh. Well that's a me problem lol. Anyways, I hope this proves to be at least somewhat insightful? ...Yeah no apart from that I really am struggling to end this properly and honestly I'm real sleepy lol so I'll just say again (whether you agree with the points listed here or not) THANKS FOR HEARING ME OUT Y'ALL AND TAKE CARE.

Character Introductions and How to Fuck Them Up
In Rogue Trader, one of the earliest party members you meet and recruit is an unsanctioned psyker by the name of Idira, a retainer and servant to Lady Theodora von Valancius. In 40k, unsanctioned psykers are those who have not been given the literal and metaphorical seal of approval for their training by the Imperium and its bureaucracy, and as such are hunted down on sight by the Inquisition to prevent their latent arcane abilities from manifesting daemons and other monsters from the warp through negligence or intentional summoning. She's introduced practically within the first cutscene of the game as a devoted, if eccentric, member of Lady Theodora's retinue, and Idira owes the woman her life in more ways than one. She makes no show of hiding that she's a powerful psyker due to the immunity afforded by her liege's writ, and you see this expressed both in her gameplay and dialogue options; the woman's psyker abilities physically bend and break the fabric of reality around her, and if used too much in too short a timespan in combat can cause daemons to spawn out of nowhere as the wall between the material world and the warp grows thin to the point of being utterly bypassed by them, and in conversations she regularly advocates for a pragmatic yet heretical approach to dillemas and emergencies. She's with you all the way through the opening act and serves as your main psyker for the first half of it.
Tumblr media
The woman takes Lady Theodora's death especially hard due to the history the two of them have, and following the conclusion of the prologue rumors begin to abound that Lady Theodora's ghost has begun appearing to crew members aboard the vessel. Given the nature of 40k as a setting, it's entirely possible her spirit is appearing, which while sweet presents an existential threat to the health and integrity of the crew due to the possibility of it being corrupted by the malevolent nature of the warp. During this time, Idira begins complaining of nightmares and visions of Lady Theodora beckoning to her, with others writing these appearances off as survivor's guilt from her unable to save her friend and master.
After a certain length of time and enough trips through the warp, a disastrous daemonic incursion appears on one of the main decks for your vessel, accompanied by reports of Idira in the midst of it. As your party arrives, you find the crew mutated and possessed by these malicious spirits as daemons feast upon those they could not turn, the twisted image of Lady Theodora mocking her once-servants and deriding you for your failure to lead them effectively. At the end of the encounter you find Idira having an absolute mental breakdown, her psyker abilities out of control as she grieves the loss of her friend. As soon as she spots you she confesses that she sought out the ghost intentionally, hoping that some way, some how, she might be able to give the woman peace, pleading for your assistance and forgiveness for her grievous mistake, all while the perverted form of her former charge demands you face her.
There, you are given a choice: shoot Idira yourself, have one of your party members shoot her, side with Idira and banish her from your ship right after, or side with Idira and work to save her.
In all of the above cases you as the player have genuine freedom for roleplay and agency within the story. Even prior to this point you at any time can expel her from your retinue, even sending her off for execution via the Inquisition once you pick up a certain character if you so please. You spend more time with Idira, see the pros and cons of her abilities for yourself, and are only put into a situation where she could plausibly end your life once you're familiar with the stakes of her condition and temperment.
Contrast this with Baldur's Gate 3's Astarion, who's introduction consists of him deceiving you and putting a knife to your neck to figure out what's going on, outright threatening to kill you himself if you don't comply. While this does establish him as a cutthroat - literally - it also immediately gives reason for not wanting any association with him from the in-world, PC perspective. One could argue the desperation of having a ilithid tadpole in your skull gives way to odd bedfellows, but with how the game immediately undercuts that possibility by asserting that those the party has are somehow different (and then immediately undercutting that undercutting, but that's a separate issue) there is genuinely little motive for a reasonable person to want to even be around him, let alone have him in their party.
Tumblr media
Moreover, the actual "reveal" of him as a vampire is incredibly mishandled. By his own admission he feeds off of animals where he can, and while we can see evidence of this in the overworld of the game, but this does not suffice for his full strength. So, instead of targeting a random civilian or a downed enemy - the latter of which we have many of in Act I - he goes right for the person that already suspects and has reason to distrust him. Not only does this reinforce the above issue of "Why should my PC keep this guy around in-world?" it also comes off like he's a blathering idiot with no conception of self-preservation or ability to recognize when it would be a bad idea to try and feed off of someone who is aware he's prone to sneaky shit. If he went after an enemy, and we walked in on him feeding midway through, there's some more grounds for plausible deniability, those that can be surpassed with an Insight check, but also presents a moral dilemma to the PC: is it acceptable for an allied vampire to feed off of those who tried to attack you? Given the clear and present discomfort shown by the PC when Astarion feeds off of them it's clear the process is neither pleasant nor easy to shrug off, so that then places the burden of deciding where the line is on the PC. There your options could be stake him, allow him to feed off of enemies, allow him to feed off of enemies and strangers, or banish him outright. There's nuance and legitimate grounds for debate as opposed to the "do you consent to getting your blood sucked by a stranger who threatened to murder you at your first meeting" the game runs with.
I bring Idira up in this discussion because she, in essence, presents the same issue Astarion does, but handled in a far better way. Both possess a condition that makes them a clear and present threat to the player and the people around them. Both are immediately established as rule breakers. Both can and do put the party in peril because of their innate characteristics, albeit through different circumstances. Both then present the player with the option to kill them, banish them, or help them, but one is done in a far more interesting way than the other.
Bear in mind this is not an assessment of their overall character arcs, just how they are initially presented and the way their conflict is set up with the PC.

I am two of mind about MACO in Star Trek. I do think Security Officers are enough to handle most problems but, on the other hand, ordinary officers who joined Starfleet to be explorers and scientists are thrown into situations they’re not equipped for.
By virtue of being in Starfleet they are assigned to war zones as soldiers and as we saw on Lower Decks, it traumatized a generation.
Between Borg attacks, a full scale existential war against the Dominion— the recent attempted Borg incursion in Picard s3– Starfleet really needs to take the mental health of their officers seriously.
In an ideal world Starfleet wants to be an organization that promotes exploration, peace, and scientific discovery.
Their reality, unfortunately is, that there are empires who are counter to the Federation philosophies.
And yet with all their problems, give a choice I would still want to live in a Federation world.

Still on my mental health break from writing, which is going well so far. I am feeling better, but taking my time and not rushing back.
In the meanwhile, though, I thought it might be fun(?) to share some behind the scenes stuff from And if we Fell Together and A New Dawn Breaks. Starting with, the opening crawl summary for A New Dawn Breaks, which went through several drafts XD
This whole style of summary came about by accident. When starting AiwFT I didn't want the summary to give away the twist at the end of chapter one, or hint to it, so getting around it I went with the crawl style opening, fully intending to replace that after a couple of chapters when the story was more established. But, it didn't seem to be deterring anyone from reading so it stuck around. In keeping with the timeline, it also had more a feel of the TCW opening episode narrations.
For ANDB, moving into the Rebels/Original Trilogy era I wanted it to reflect more of that sound - so it is conciously imitative of ANH (particulalry with the opening line). But it was a struggle to get together, as you can see from these initial drafts!
Supreme Leader Maul has launched a devastating attack on the Empire. The vicious General Grevious leads the combined army of the Outer Rim in a surge across the inner-world systems, taking control of the vital Mid-Rim world of Naboo.
In response, the Emperor has despatched Grand Admiral Thrawn to lead a strike team to Naboo, intending to breach the blockade and retake the strategically valuable world.
Taking advantage of the chaos, Ahsoka Tano and Barriss Offee have made a lightning raid on Haruun Kul intending to rescue Barriss’ former Master, Luminara Unduli...
It is a period of war. Supreme Leader Maul has launched a devastating attack on the Empire. The vicious droid General Greivous leads the United Outer Rim in a surge across Imperial space, capturing the strategically vital Mid-Rim world of Naboo.
In response, the Emperor has sent Grand Admiral Thrawn to lead the resistance to Greivous’ assault.
Taking advantage of the chaos, BARRISS OFFEE has journeyed to Haruun Kul, intending to break into the fortress prison the Spire and rescue her former Master, Luminara Unduli...
It is a period of war. Supreme Leader Maul’s United Outer Rim, led by the vicious droid General Greivous, has won a decisive victory against the Empire, capturing and occupying the vital Mid-Rim world of Naboo.
In response, the Emperor has dispatched Grand Admiral Thrawn to lead the retaliation as he seeks to recapture the planet before it can be used a staging post to launch a wider incursion into imperial territory.
Taking advantage of the chaos, Barriss Offee has journeyed to Haruun Kul, intending to break into the fortress pirson the Spire and rescue her former Master, Luminara Unduli...
In the intial ideas, we would have started with Barriss raiding the spire fortress (relocated because it's Rebels location was in Mandalore territory). Maul's alliance is also somewhat vaguer. The intial thinking was he would have control of the whole of the Outer Rim, but that felt ridiculous. No way Sidious would ever allow that to happen! We also see Ahsoka quickly drop out from being part of the inital raid, to Barriss alone. Thrawn was also named, to give a face to the response.
There were a set of major problems with this though. First it was too much information - the crawl was trying to do too much and set up too much so it had no real energy. We also had nothing on the Spectres, who would play a role here. And secondly, these were all a set of disconnected events.
It took a while of thinking (and embarassingly long time actually), but eventually I managed to solve the problem by connecting the events - that the rescue of Luminara could proceed because of the war. Which led to a major rewrite for the thing.
It is a period of war. The fragile truce between the Galactic Empire and Mandalore Ultima has crumbled. Skirmishes are fought across a thousand worlds.
The rebel group known as the SPECTRES, led by Hera Syndulla and Jedi Kanan Jarrus, have intercepted a transmission about the Imperial’s capture of Jedi Master Luminara Unduli and her imprisonment at the Spire, a prison fortress on the world of Naboo.
Taking advantage of the chaos, the Spectres race to Naboo with the intent of slipping past the defensive blockade and rescuing Master Unduli...
It is a period of war. Supreme Leader Maul has launched a devastating strike against the Galactic Empire, with the vicious droid General Grievous leading the forces of Mandalore Ultima in a furious sweep towards the inner-system worlds.
Intercepting a desperate transmission, the rebel group known as the SPECTRES, led by Hera Syndulla and Jedi Knight Kanan Jarrus, have learned of the Empire’s capture of Jedi Master Luminara Unduli and her imprisonment at the Spire, a prison fortress on the world of Naboo.

It is a period of war. Supreme Leader Maul has launched a devastating assault against the Galactic Empire, with the vicious droid General Grievous leading the forces of Mandalore Ultima in a furious sweep towards the inner-system worlds.
Intercepting a desperate transmission, the REBELLION has learned of the Empire’s capture of Jedi Master Luminara Unduli and her imprisonment at the Spire, a prison fortress on the world of Naboo.
Taking advantage of the chaos, Jedi Knight Kanan Jarruss and his apprentice, Ezra Bridger, race to Naboo with the intent of slipping past the defensive blockade and rescuing Master Unduli...
Here things get a bit better. There's a bit of back and forth on how much information is being given in the opening paragraph (it's still too much), and also how much is being given about the Spectres (still too much). Barriss has been dropped, we don't need to be introduced to her and it works better for her presence to be a mystery as the story unfolds. The general rule with crawls, as well, is they should give the impression of having missed a couple of episodes (with The Last Jedi being the exception to this rule), that you're being caught up on.
But because of the connection the energy is now in a much better place. It feels faster, more urgent and more like a string of players interacting and working off each other. Ultimatley, this set are still too 'explaining the status of the galaxy' to really work. Likewise, it was still undecided whether Kanan and Ezra would be heading out on their own, or whether the whole gang was going.
Eventually, I settled on putting the Spectres as a whole in. This was to make a better introduction to the whole group; up the chaos level; and also because I finally worked out why Maul was launching his attack now as opposed to some other time (he'd caught wind of the Death Star so needed to launch). That meant I needed to have more of the team about so that the Rebels could also learn of this and drive part of the plot forward. So with a few more tweaks we ended up with:
It is a period of war. The LEGIONS OF MANDALORE have launched a vicious attack against the Galactic Empire, laying siege to the vital Mid Rim world of Naboo.
As a result of the battle, the Rebel Alliance have intercepted a panicked Imperial transmission revealing that Jedi Master Luminara Unduli is being held prisoner on the planet.
Racing against time, the SPECTRES speed to Naboo intending to slip through the siege and rescue Master Unduli...
Much cleaner. No real unnecessary information about characters cluttering things up, and the energy is a lot faster and urgent.
So that was the journey for that! I'll probably bore you with some more bits and pieces here and there, so if you are interested keep an eye out!

what do u think 616 stevetony and ults stevetony would think of each other if they met?
Thank you for the question! I don't get many asks these days.
I feel like I already have tackled this a couple different ways, fictionally; a surprising number of my Ults stories have some kind of multiverse component, and the two that actually involve some subset of Steve and Tony meeting each other are The Best of Intentions (Ults Steve meets 616 Steve and Tony) and Wish Fulfillment (616 Hydra Steve meets Ults Steve and Tony).
So I haven't actually written one that was more Tony-focused, but luckily, canon has taken care of that for us, because the Secret Wars miniseries Ultimate End has 616 Tony meeting Ults Steve and Tony. I brought some panels.
(This post also contains spoilers for relatively recent issues of AXE Judgment Day.)
Granted, I still have very little idea what is actually going on in Ultimate End, but it does have some good character interaction. (616 Steve is not there; the 616 Cap is Sam, but the 616 Tony is wearing Bleeding Edge, so you can see why I'm a little confused about the situation here on Battleworld. The 616 Steve and Tony who would be contemporaneous with the end of Ults never survived the end of the incursions, and at any rate this can't be the very end of Ults because Ults Steve is still alive.)
Anyway, Ultimate End does in fact give us some interaction between Ults Steve and 616 Tony, like this scene in issue 4:
Tumblr media
(There is more interaction between them than this but I just grabbed a random panel. Ults Steve is usually a little grumpier than 616 Steve would be, yes. And, yes, I know I said 616 Tony was wearing Bleeding Edge and here he isn't but this is actually him remote-piloting a bunch of older suits.)
Issue 2 also has that one scene everyone loves with 616 and Ults Tony:
Tumblr media
I think 616 Tony is the only person who's ever gotten Ults Tony to stop drinking. I also think that even in these panels we can see that 616 Tony has a more finely-honed sense of self-loathing and Ults Tony actually has to tell him to stop blaming himself. I guess that's only to be expected when Ults Tony is a Tony with approximately 50% fewer canonical suicide attempts than 616 Tony. (I say "approximately" because I'm not sure whether World's Most Wanted should count but Ults Tony has one (off-page) and 616 Tony has at least two (on-page). So, I mean, it's not like either of them are sterling examples of mental health but I feel like Ults Tony is at least doing a slightly better job not hating himself.)
As for what they'd think of each other? I mean, if you believe Ultimate End, 616 Tony thinks Ults Tony drinks too much and Ults Tony thinks 616 Tony hates himself too much and honestly those seem like pretty fair reads. They do seem to basically get along, though.
Since 616 and Ults Steve have never canonically met, that one's up to fandom. Honestly, I don't think they'd like each other that much, so, really, that was what I wrote. I imagine the difference between them that would seem most salient is that 616 Steve would probably be appalled at some of the words that come out of Ults Steve's mouth and the attitudes behind them. Like, can you imagine 616 Steve saying this?
Tumblr media
I cannot imagine 616 Steve saying this. I cannot imagine 616 Steve thinking that any amount of casual misogyny was okay and, yeah, I think he would notice a difference. Ults Steve seems to have a more fragile conception of his own masculinity than 616 Steve does, generally speaking, and I think 616 Steve would notice that too. Ults Steve is angrier. He has more of a chip on his shoulder. I don't think 616 Steve would like Ults Steve at all.
And I know that this is probably partly down to differences between the stakes and general ethos in 616 and Ults, and the fact that Ults has permadeath turned on, but I feel like Ults Steve would find 616 Steve's optimism... unbearably naive? 616 Steve is the guy who is always there with an inspiring speech. And I'm not saying that Ults Steve isn't a good leader or that he can't rally people to fight, but I think 616 Steve fundamentally believes in the goodness of humanity and in their ability to triumph in a way that I don't think we see Ults Steve exhibit.
Like, check out 616 Steve in Judgment Day. He has failed, here in Judgment Day #3:
Tumblr media
In fact, the entire planet has failed. And yet he's still out there, believing:
Tumblr media
That is Judgment Day #4.
Judgment Day #5 gives us Steve sitting in the snow, drinking coffee, and being maybe a little discouraged about this:
Tumblr media
Then he gets up anyway. He gets up and faces down the Celestial who is judging them, and he knows that he's not going to make it through this alive, but he still, deep down, really does believe in humanity:
Tumblr media
He just... keeps standing. He gives people hope. That's who he is. That's what he does.
See also, Steve's famous speech to Thanos in Infinity Gauntlet:
Tumblr media
I mean, it's basically the same speech.
I don't think Ults Steve really... represents the entire planet... in the same way that 616 Steve does. Which is fair, because mostly he isn't called upon to do that. I mean, I know he's been the president of the US. But that's still not what 616 Steve does. That's not the same thing at all.
Cataclysm is basically the most comparable event in terms of power level -- they are fighting 616 Galactus -- and Ults Steve is, at most, a battlefield tactician. Granted, he's a very good tactician. But that's all we see him do:
Tumblr media
When he sacrifices himself to buy time for everyone else to fight Galactus, there is no inspiring speech:
Tumblr media
The last thing he says is "how much time do you need?" That's it. There is no further dialogue.
Tumblr media
He just... dies.
I think he believes in individual people, certainly. And he's capable of rallying the troops, sure. But to the best of my knowledge, that thing 616 Steve does? That thing 616 Steve does basically as naturally as breathing? He doesn't do that. Not that I can remember.
So I think he would look at 616 Steve and be like "are you fucking kidding me?" because I don't think he believes in the innate goodness of humanity the way 616 Steve does. This doesn't mean I think he's a bad person -- narratively, he's been put in a world that is hell of a lot harder, so it makes sense that this is how he's turned out. I love him a lot as a character. But I don't think anyone would call upon Ults Steve to be the world's optimist. And I don't think he'd understand that about 616 Steve.
So, yeah. Those are my extremely off-the-cuff thoughts about 616 vs. Ults Steve and Tony. This was way more about Steve, but I feel like for Tony, canon already answers the question for us.

how are you dealing? is your family okay? i hope you're all getting by as well as you can.
I'm... physically okay. My family is okay too. I don't actually know anyone who lived where the incursions happened personally except the family of a friend who thankfully all made it out alive.
Still, it's been. A Time, to say the least? I'm not as used to rocket alerts and sirens as other people on this piece of land (yeah, I know, people being used to it is nuts) so every time one starts up my immediate reaction is to freeze in place and then shrink into a ball uselessly. It's quite possibly the worst reaction considering, you know, rockets. I don't even have a safe room or a bomb shelter here, the building I live in is too old to have either. Nothing landed too close to where I live but you can hear the rocket landing from several miles away. It's loud.
I've been avoiding first hand accounts, videos, photos, the names of the deceased, but every little bit of information that makes it to me is like a shard of glass in my heart. And I'm not the only one struggling, I think the only reason the members of my immediate family haven't broken down completely yet is because we have my baby nephew, who has no idea what's going on because he's just a little guy, and his innocence and sweetness are keeping us sane. The other day he gripped my finger tightly and looked at me intently for five minutes while I told him he's the only reason things don't seem 100% bad right now, because if he's there then the world can't be that bad.
I'm so. Angry, you know? And sad. And frustrated. I was worried our government would lead us to ruin, we've been protesting against it for nearly a year at this point, but I couldn't begin to even imagine it would have this much of a body count. They think it'll reach over a thousand. This is insane. The second this bloody war is over and it's safe to leave the house I'm joining the protests every day until the horrible jackass that put us in this position gets off his goddamn throne. He honestly deserves to rot in jail for the rest of his days for what he's done to all of us, him and the rest of his shit cabinet.
And then I'm finding a way to leave for good. I'm done. The longer I live here, the worse my mental health gets and the closer I am to my physical existence being in question, and I don't need this.

Elevating Student Health and Happiness: Phys Zen's School Wellbeing Programs in Perth
In today's fast-paced world, student wellbeing has become a focal point in educational settings. Schools are increasingly recognizing the importance of addressing not just academic performance but also the overall health and emotional wellness of their students. This is where Phys Zen, a leading provider of Wellbeing Incursions Perth, plays a crucial role. Through their innovative and comprehensive school wellbeing programs, Phys Zen is making significant strides in enhancing student health and happiness.
The Need for Wellbeing Programs in Schools
The pressures of academic achievement, social dynamics, and extracurricular commitments can weigh heavily on students. Mental health issues, stress, and anxiety are becoming more prevalent among young people. Consequently, there is a growing demand for effective interventions and programs that support student wellbeing.
Research consistently shows that a holistic approach to education, which includes mental and emotional support, leads to better academic performance and overall satisfaction. Schools are thus tasked with finding solutions that not only address academic needs but also support students' mental and emotional health.
Phys Zen: A Leader in School Wellbeing Programs
Phys Zen is a standout in providing wellbeing incursions and programs tailored specifically for schools in Perth. These sessions are instrumental in creating a supportive and empathetic school environment.
2. Tailored School Wellbeing Programs
Phys Zen’s school wellbeing programs are customized to meet the unique needs of each school. By working closely with educators, they develop programs that align with the school’s goals and address specific wellbeing challenges.
Program Customization: Every school is different, and Phys Zen understands that a one-size-fits-all approach is not effective. Their team collaborates with school staff to tailor programs that fit the school’s culture, student demographics, and specific wellbeing needs. This customization ensures that the programs are relevant and impactful.
Integration with Curriculum: Phys Zen’s programs are designed to complement the existing curriculum rather than disrupt it. By integrating wellbeing practices into academic activities, they help students apply what they learn in a practical context. This integration reinforces the importance of wellbeing and makes it a natural part of the students’ daily lives.
Ongoing Support and Evaluation: Implementing wellbeing programs is just the beginning. Phys Zen provides ongoing support and evaluation to ensure the programs are achieving their intended outcomes. They offer feedback sessions, conduct assessments, and make adjustments as needed to continually improve the effectiveness of their programs.
Benefits of Phys Zen’s Wellbeing Programs
The impact of Phys Zen’s wellbeing programs extends far beyond the classroom. Schools that have implemented these programs have reported numerous benefits for students, staff, and the overall school environment.
Improved Academic Performance: Students who participate in wellbeing programs often experience better concentration, reduced stress, and enhanced emotional resilience. These factors contribute to improved academic performance and a more positive attitude toward learning.
Enhanced Social Skills: Wellbeing programs that focus on emotional intelligence and communication skills help students build stronger relationships with their peers. This leads to a more harmonious and supportive school community.
Increased Physical Fitness: Regular physical activity is a cornerstone of good health. Phys Zen’s fitness workshops encourage students to stay active, which benefits their physical health and helps them develop lifelong habits.
Greater Emotional Resilience: By learning to manage stress and navigate emotional challenges, students become more resilient and better equipped to handle the ups and downs of life. This resilience is invaluable for both academic success and personal growth.

What WAS That?
Tumblr media
It’s been an insane news cycle—Joe Biden unintentionally revealed to the world that the left and the corrupt media have been lying to us for years and that he is actually mentally compromised—a fact that he made clear during one of the most consequential political debates in history, where he basically faceplanted—the former president and now-GOP nominee for president was shot, Biden quit his reelection campaign, and now Kamala Harris is being sold to us by that same corrupt media as the Second Coming despite her long record as a raging leftist.
I will quote Fox News political commentator Brit Hume, who said Wednesday night:
It’s as extraordinary period of news as I can remember; I’ve been in this for well over a half century, [and] in terms of news, this is the most tumultuous period I can think of.
Political junkies therefore tuned in Wednesday night for an Oval Office speech by Joe Biden, who was supposedly going to explain why he abandoned his reelection efforts despite vociferously assuring us for months that there was no chance that he would do so. Would the president deliver moving remarks, would he bring the country together in the way that Ronald Reagan did after the Challenger disaster or George W. Bush did after 9/11? Would he come clean on his health issues, which are so obvious to any sentient American, would he fully reveal his thought process surrounding the monumental decision to give up on his campaign? Would he explain how he’s still capable of running the country for six more months despite the fact that he’s now essentially a lame duck?
No, no, no, and no. He did none of those things. In fact, it was an inexplicable, sleep-inducing monologue that tried to throw in all sorts of high-minded ideals like “Democracy” and “who we are” but essentially said nothing.
RedState’s Bonchie didn’t feel the thrill up the leg:
A Confused Joe Biden Gives Address to the Nation, Only Deepens the Scandal Around Him and Kamala Harris
I cannot imagine who thought this was a good idea or thought it would quiet the questions that so many citizens have about what’s going on and what things look like going forward.
RedState held a lively Live Blog on the whisper-fest; you can see what we had to say here. As we watched, many of us thought that he was going to do the right thing and resign, but that did not happen.
The guest who wouldn't leave:
RedState Live Blogs the Biden 2024 Dropout Address to the Nation
My better half posted some excerpts:
Biden has delivered angry speeches, he’s delivered divisive speeches where he calls half of the electorate enemies of Democracy, he’s dropped remarks that he’s plagiarized from others, but this… this was a nothing speech. He revealed little of consequence, he assuaged no fears, he accomplished zero except perhaps to show that he’s still breathing. I have no idea what the point of it was, and except for shameless cheerleaders like CNN’s Van Jones—who was once again almost in tears, he was so moved—I don’t see how it helps Americans feel better about their security knowing that we have a lame-duck president who doesn’t make much sense. We all know that Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin are paying attention.
Speaking of which: was this incursion just a coincidence? Sure doesn’t feel like it, considering it happened on the exact same day as Biden’s tepid “farewell” speech:
Provocations: Russian, Chinese Military Aircraft Intercepted Off Alaskan Coast

Mental Health Crisis in Palestine: Causes, Impact, and Solutions
Tumblr media
Mental health is a critical issue in Palestine, where the ongoing conflict, occupation, and political instability have taken a significant toll on the mental well-being of Palestinian residents. The pervasive sense of fear, stress, and trauma that permeates daily life in Palestine has led to high rates of mental health disorders, including depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). One of the key factors contributing to the mental health crisis in Palestine is the constant exposure to violence and conflict. The Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories has resulted in widespread human rights abuses, including forced displacement, military incursions, and the demolition of homes. In addition, the ongoing conflict between Israel and militant groups in Gaza has led to frequent outbreaks of violence, shelling, and airstrikes, leaving many Palestinians traumatised and struggling to cope with the psychological effects of war. Compounding the impact of the conflict on mental health is the lack of access to quality mental health care in Palestine. The mental health system in the occupied territories is severely underfunded and understaffed, with few resources available to provide adequate care and support for individuals struggling with mental health issues. Stigma and cultural taboos surrounding mental health also prevent many Palestinians from seeking help, leading to a high prevalence of untreated mental health disorders in the community. In response to the mental health crisis in Palestine, a number of grassroots organisations and mental health professionals have been working to raise awareness about the importance of mental health and to provide support and services to those in need. Organisations such as the Palestine Counseling Center and the Gaza Community Mental Health Program offer counseling, therapy, and mental health education to individuals and communities affected by the conflict. However, more needs to be done to address the mental health crisis in Palestine. In addition to increased funding for mental health services and resources, there is a need for greater recognition of the psychological toll of the conflict on Palestinian residents and for increased efforts to promote mental health awareness and destigmatise seeking help for mental health issues. Ultimately, addressing the mental health crisis in Palestine requires a holistic approach that addresses the underlying causes of mental health issues, such as the ongoing conflict and occupation, while also providing quality mental health care and support to those in need. By prioritising mental health and well-being, we can help build a healthier and more resilient Palestine for future generations. Read the full article

Your Health and Erectile Dysfunction: 6 Things You Need to Know
Have you ever pondered how your general health and erectile dysfunction (ED) are intricately related? Given that millions of men worldwide have erectile dysfunction (ED), it's a question many people grapple with. The ubiquity of ED is demonstrated by the fact that, in the United States alone, almost 10.3 million men suffer from the disorder to some extent. Beyond its effect on libido, ED frequently acts as a covert indicator of possible underlying medical problems.
In this in-depth investigation, we'll investigate the intricate relationship between your health and ED, revealing essential details beneath the surface. With topics ranging from mental health and lifestyle decisions to new drug developments such as Krrista Strong Tablets (incorporating vardenafil 20mg and dapoxetine 60mg), this informative blog hopes to arm you with information for proactive health care.
Understanding Erectile Dysfunction as a Health Barometer
Consider this your backstage pass to the fascinating realm of ED and its function as a health gauge. Current research, which provides the framework for our investigation, presents a convincing picture: ED risk increases dramatically with age. While just 12% of males under 60 suffer from ED, the number jumps to a whopping 40% for men over 40.
Often limited to conversations about one's sexual performance, erectile dysfunction turns out to be a complex disorder that can be a silent warning sign of impending health problems. Diabetes, hormonal imbalances, cardiovascular diseases, psychological pressures, and their subtle undertones make up a complex web of issues that are closely related to eating disorders (ED).
Lifestyle Choices and the Art of ED Prevention
Instead of taking center stage, statistics now support our participatory path toward lifestyle choices. The screenplay reveals a crucial truth: the ED story is greatly influenced by lifestyle circumstances. Exercise regularly, eating a healthy weight, and avoiding cigarette smoke all work as powerful barriers against the advances of ED.
The credo of a healthy lifestyle influences erectile function directly and goes beyond general wellness advice. Regular exercise takes center stage, improving blood circulation like a virtuoso performance necessary to continue the symphony of erections. A nutrient-dense, well-balanced diet acts as a supporting cast to ward off diseases like obesity and diabetes, which are well-known causes of ED. Additionally, a strong position against tobacco use and a moderation in alcohol intake strengthen the barrier against the incursions of ED.
The Psychological Dimensions of ED
The investigation of the mind-body connection comes next, where data is woven into the story to inform our comprehension gently. The psychological aspects of eating disorders develop into an engrossing side story. Prolonged stress and anxiety are prominent, as research indicates a clear association with an increased incidence of eating disorders.
Here, the mind plays the conductor, arranging the body's response to sexual stimuli like a symphony. The delicate balance necessary for a healthy sexual response is upset by chronic stress, worry, and the shadows of depression. Navigating the maze of ED requires strategies to recognize and treat these psychological aspects. Counseling, therapy, and mindfulness are all sophisticated tools for navigating the complex psychological aspects of eating disorders.
Routine Health Check-ups and the ED Prevention Symphony
We now turn our investigation toward a crescendo, where numbers provide a dramatic pause instead of a spotlight. A striking association is revealed: the frequency of health examinations directs the rhythm of ED prevention like a symphony conductor. Regular health check-ups are associated with lower risks of ED for men who prioritize them.
Regular medical examinations are crucial for preventing illnesses that could cause ED. Monitoring essential health metrics, such as blood sugar, cholesterol, and blood pressure, enables early identification and prompt treatment. These evaluations are critical for sustaining erectile function and general wellness. Proactive health management, which involves routine screenings, is essential for averting possible problems and maintaining a healthy balance between sexual and overall health. Regular check-ups are a wise addition to any healthcare regimen, as they may help detect health issues early, promote general wellness, and protect against the effects of ED.
Krrista Strong Tablets: A Dual-Action Overture to ED
The spotlight now shifts to the pharmaceutical stage, where statistics blend into the narrative as supporting actors rather than headliners. The demand for ED medications is growing, with a chorus of millions seeking effective and safe solutions. The market projection for phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors, the drug class home to Krrista Strong Tablets, paints a promising trajectory.
In recent years, the pharmaceutical landscape has transformed, unveiling advanced solutions for ED. Among the emerging stars, Krrista Strong Tablets stand out for their dual-action formula. Enter the dynamic duo – vardenafil 20mg and dapoxetine 60mg. This powerhouse combination doesn't just address the physical aspect of ED by enhancing blood flow through vardenafil; it also tackles the intricate dance of premature ejaculation through dapoxetine.
Vardenafil, the virtuoso PDE5 inhibitor, takes center stage, relaxing the muscles in penile blood vessels and orchestrating an increased blood flow symphony during sexual arousal. This harmonious interplay contributes to achieving and sustaining a firm erection. Meanwhile, dapoxetine, the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI), steps into the spotlight, prolonging the climax and extending the crescendo of pleasure.
Communication: The Duet of Health and Intimacy
As our exploration nears its conclusion, the spotlight turns to the duet of communication, where statistics whisper rather than shout. Open communication with healthcare professionals and partners emerges as the heartbeat of this duet, resonating with higher treatment adherence and better outcomes in ED management.
In the midst of the myriad insights into the relationship between health and ED, the emphasis on communication cannot be overstated. Addressing concerns about ED with a healthcare provider becomes the lyrical dialogue, ensuring tailored advice and appropriate treatment options. Simultaneously, open communication with your partner becomes the tender melody, fostering understanding, support, and intimacy—the cornerstone for a healthier and more fulfilling life.
In Conclusion: A Symphony of Holistic Health and ED
As the final notes of our comprehensive exploration resound, the echo is clear – ED is not merely a standalone issue but a reflection of a broader symphony of health dynamics. The interconnectedness of lifestyle choices, psychological well-being, routine health check-ups, and emerging pharmaceutical solutions like Krrista Strong Tablets unfolds as a symphony empowering individuals to conduct their health destiny.
Remember, proactive measures and informed choices unfurl the sheet music for a healthier and more fulfilling life, both within the intimate confines of the bedroom and beyond. Erectile dysfunction, when approached with a holistic mindset, transforms from a mere challenge into an opportunity for comprehensive health improvement.
Note: Before incorporating any new medication, including Krrista Strong Tablets, into your routine, consult with a healthcare professional to ensure suitability and safety.

I was going to make a long comment about something else.
But then this came up, again, this week.
I guess I'm not unique, I have an ambivalence towards "the Footy". But it's complicated. My Dad was an amazing man, and his whole life revolved around Aussie Rules Footy. The AFL was formed in the 90s, but the game has been in existence for... well frankly who knows exactly how long. Its roots lie in the Indigenous game, Marngrook. Some dispute this and that's only one of the problems.
My Dad would sit in front of the TV watching the game, and yell...
"Get in there, help him!!! You're playing like a girl... KICK IT!!!"
Well, you get the picture. His favourite phrase, however, was, "Weak as water."
He played the game, and knew as much about it as anyone would. He saw things on the screen that only someone who had good game instincts would see. He played the game for a long time, until he was 50, and then he became a boundary umpire. Because of this, I was always surrounded by footy players. They weren't overtly homophobic, but it wasn't an environment that screamed out a welcome to any player who was gay or bisexual. And this was a time when Footy was a "man's game".
When women started to do sports reporting, there was an atmosphere of resentment from the players. Constant attempts to embarrass the reporters out of the job with overt displays of naked genitals, aggressive incursions into personal space, exaggerated and incessant swearing, but it failed. Not least because most of the female reporters had grown up around football, and they were used to it.
Football players have always had a problem with homosexuality and bisexuality. Some of them were incredibly predatory, themselves, but what they feared was a fellow player preying on them. They feared being looked upon, feared being lusted after by one of their fellow players. In short, they feared that a team mate would treat them the way they treated the women they "fancied", or that a team mate would want to treat them that way.
But the sporting climate has changed rapidly since the turn of the century. Still, there have been less than a handful of players of any code who have publicly identified as gay in any of the male competitions, and no AFL players amongst them. It is also very likely that there are few same sex attracted players at all in the various AFL competitions around Australia, as the deeply entrenched homophobia likely drives people out of the game.
The most alarming thing is that there doesn't appear to be any intention to address this gross oversight.
There have been a number of AFL players who have taken a break from the game to work on their mental health. It is probable that some of these players have done so because of their sexuality, but it would be the absolute last thing they would admit.
The behaviour and attitudes of the spectators demands attention, too. Social Media posts about the AFL are peppered with racism and homophobia in their comments, in particular the platform formerly known as Twitter. Since Elon Musk has removed nearly every measure that was aimed at reducing abuse, it has worsened.
How long the AFL can maintain its popularity is difficult to say. If the issue is not addressed, the number of younger spectators, and players will decrease, as tolerance of homophobia, sexism, and racism is markedly lower in younger generations, and they will pass judgement with their feet.
Basically it's a case of shape up, or die.

Indulge in the Goodness of Ayurveda for Wonders in your Health
Tumblr media
Our body is our temple which we need to worship every day. Even the slightest imbalances can create an incursion of negative energies that can adversely affect our physical and mental well-being. Keeping your health in mind, we have discovered the magical benefits of Ayurveda, the healing powers of nature that have therapeutic properties to replenish our exhausted and stressed minds. Stress and anxiety are the two growing problems slowly conquering most of the population. The most natural and effective remedy to combat this ever-increasing problem and prevent it from worsening would be to follow in the footsteps of Ayurveda. If you want to be pampered with the virtues of Ayurveda, then you can join our 7-weeks course on Health and Wellness with Ayurveda and refresh your five senses.
The secrets to a healthy body and mind
Good health is the way to liberation. The Ayurvedic definition of wellness extends far beyond the absence of disease. Ayurveda defines health as a state in which the mind, body, spirit, emotions, and senses are perfectly balanced, just as nature intended for us as individuals. The Sanskrit word for health is “Swastha,” which has a deep meaning. It is composed of two root words: “Swa” (the self) and “Stha” (the center). So, someone who is swastha can be roughly translated as “centered in one’s self” or “getting rooted in one’s self”; they are physically healthy and finds peace, comfort, and satisfaction in their thoughts. Ayurveda promotes health by allowing our body, mind, breath, and holistic being to work in perfect harmony, allowing us to enjoy “Swastha” in its purest form. An Ayurvedic consultation will enable you to discover more about the nature of your mind/body and how to promote good health and prevent disease.
Consultation includes pulse diagnosis to determine specific imbalances, diet, digestion, herbs, exercise, daily and seasonal routines, and general health guidelines based on your mind/body type. We greatly believe in the notion that prevention is better than cure and the most effective way to maintain good health.
At Ayurveda Awareness Centre (AAC), we work towards preventative health in a variety of ways where,
You will learn how to apply simple daily practices to improve your good health and start making small changes with a significant impact.
You will leave with the ability to make better-informed decisions on health and wellness.
You will better understand wellness, what can bring it, and what takes it away.
Follow the footsteps of Ayurveda!
Panchakarma treatment: A body detox procedure.
As the name suggests, Pancha in Sanskrit means five, and Karma is the therapeutic measure. Accordingly, Panchakarma means five types of therapeutic measures. These are done to cleanse the body, and Ayurveda considers them necessary before beginning any other therapy. The reason for this is that cloth must be purified or cleaned of impurities and dust before it can be dyed.; likewise, the body needs to be purified before it can be permeated with new colours of youthfulness, health and vigour. Most of the time, Panchakarma is an end rather than a preamble to other therapeutic measures.
At Ayurveda Awareness Centre, we believe that our minds, like our bodies, require nourishment and exercise. It is because we live in a world that expects us to be, or at least appear to be, top-performing multitaskers all the time. So, begin enhancing your brain power with Ayurveda by taking our course “Health and Wellness with Ayurveda,” and you’ll notice that you’re doing one thing at a time.

Uncontrolled Guns
Hateful infractions are the defining characteristic of a loving era.  Excuses for murders committed using guns are sadly common when the only thing causing more transgressions than liberal policies is liberals.  It’s important to not demonize their entire ideology based on rotten individuals who agree with them and also commit heinous offenses even though that’s what they do.  Just mock them for believing daft things.
The Second Amendment’s enemies will be glad to learn they have made major advances in their war against weaponry.  Fervent battlers should be aware of gained territory.  But wallowing in militarism is icky.  There’s ample control in place, which shocks alleged news junkies who haven’t kept up on it.
The faction that’s not into autonomy got the restrictions they craved.  Democrats succeeded, which means results sucked.  If they don’t know where to look to see where their beloved schemes have been realized, check the news for mass shootings.
Look the other way while condemning crime.  Bitching about the awfulness they permit is nothing new for inflation specialists who want you to believe corporate greed began five minutes after Joe Biden’s inauguration.  Assailing free markets when incursions into them prompt economic woe is the same philosophy that assails items instead of decisions made by villains.
They needed more domination, which is the classic liberal plea.  Aspiring authoritarians getting part of the command they demand somehow exacerbates tough circumstances.  Partial victories presumably wouldn’t lead to abject failures.  But utterly proficient autocrats can’t do anything until they control everything.  Pete Buttigieg can’t keep trains on rails for the same reason, namely you haven’t been coerced into giving him enough trillions to be competent.
Places without security are uncannily targeted by criminals.  Offenses are of course the fault of the assaulting dastards.  But it’s still wise to lock your door.
Spurring mental illness hasn’t made those suffering feel stable for some reason.  Shutdowns couldn’t have been engineered more perfectly to spread despondency.   The only thing that permeated the atmosphere more throughly was the virus.  Claiming to stop both doesn’t work despite .  The only success they have is showing why government control makes life worse, which is presumably inadvertent.
There sure seems to be a lot of hate permeating the ether.  A snarling collective mood is not an excuse for ensuing chaos even though manufacturing sadness is America’s only presently thriving industry.  The ruling regime spreads multiple types of depression.  Economic misery is only the start.
The ensuing monsoon of whizzing bullets following the election of Democrats must be the fault of Republicans.  Liberals conflate passing laws they want with real-world success, and yet safe amity eludes society.  Instead, try cussing at the NRA for notorious conservative stronghold Chicago’s blood-streaked streets.  Please stop committing attacks in gun-free zones.  Do we need to tap the sign?
This country displeases very grateful citizens who’ve done all they can to undermine it.  Blaming America is rich from saboteurs who’ve made it poor.  Their work to oppose American values that leads to woe.  That’s rich in an undesirable way.  You may remember them from their previous claims that rotten free markets create poverty when it’s their infiltrations to save victims that creates them.  Finding quality health care became challenging in a cruel nation that by sheer coincidence had the right to freely shop confiscated.
It’s tough to buy items used to defend the few other material goods.  A gun for protecting a house might be the most valuable thing in it.  You’d think Democrats would be opposed to even more financial devastation.  But fear professionals are hooked on a philosophy that inhibits commerce, particularly against their loathed satanic enemy known as firearms.
Limitations on purchasing scary shooties just means they’re only available easily illegally.  That’s only a problem if criminals are willing to break laws.  It’s like how policies that allow lunacy to fester surely have no consequence other than creating a sense of appeasement.  Enacting liberal dreams leads to agony.  Their plan to make everyone rich made money worthless.
Denouncing implements comes naturally to resisters of human nature.  An entire philosophy based on avoiding personal responsibility enables more of it.  There are your costs and benefits.
We’re ruled by the worst sort of aspiring fascists, namely goons who know what’s best for you yet won’t crack down on crime.  Excuses for wrongdoing paired with vilifying success have turned a formerly nice country into an absurdist nightmare where the only ones punished by government are those who obey laws.
Spare a thought for Democrats who have to pretend to care about crime.  The phony routine involves using way more energy than they invest extending sympathy to victims.  Why would exploitative drama queens feel bad for those enduring the consequences of their ideology?  They’re supposed to be against it in case they forgot.
Excusing away every legal violation makes it tough to appear tough on crime.  Make it easy to commit then wonder why there’s so much of it.  Man, liberals really do not grasp incentives.  Radical measures like sentencing felons for harming others seems elitist, not to mention the reliance on oppressive bigoted cops.  They’ll take the easier path of bitching about what they cause.
