Simon Riley has never understood why military personnel get married so quickly
Logically, he understands; most soldiers move often and want their partners to be able to move with them, and getting married means living off base, which has benefits all of its own. But he’s never wanted or needed any of that. Johnny goes where he goes because they’re a team, and they both have everything they need on base. They’re perfectly happy right where they are, no rings or vows needed.
And then Johnny goes MIA, presumed KIA.
After the initial shock, the anxiety, the helplessness, the overwhelming urge to do something, anything, to get his Johnny back… There’s the Board of Inquiry, where the entire 141 essentially testifies about what happened leading up to Sergeant MacTavish’s disappearance, and he’s declared officially KIA.
His belongings have to be returned to his next of kin which… isn’t Simon. Because they were never married. Instead, he has to pick through his room, collecting the pieces of Johnny that he’d stockpiled over the years; his sketchbooks, his headphones, his extra identification tag. He boxes them up and gives them to Price to be shipped to Scotland, to Johnny’s real next of kin, and he aches with regret.
Because he suddenly understands.
Marriage wouldn’t have saved Johnny; nothing could’ve. But it could’ve kept Johnny close, could’ve preserved some of Johnny’s memory. Instead, his room is cleared and cleaned and filled with the next soldier, and Simon is left with nothing to remember the love of his life by.
He had never even bought a ring.

Concept: Fire-sibs with Congenital Prosopagnosia. They’re face-blind.
Azula is fine. She chose 2 friends with extremely distinctive voices & body-language and decided that was enough. Recognizing anyone else is beneath her station as a princess. If they were important they’d wear a crown.
Zuko on the other hand has been on this ship for 3 years and he’s concerned that if he doesn’t capture the Avatar soon, this group of middle-aged men might begin to suspect can’t tell them apart.
Literally any disguise will fool Zuko. Cover Aang’s tattoos and he can’t pick him out of a lineup. Fortunately water-tribe teens are rare outside of the poles, and Aang has a habit of declaring himself the Avatar so he stands a chance as long as they don’t catch on…
Bonus: Ty Lee’s sisters don’t even look that much like her. It’s just a standard familial resemblance. But Zuko and Azula both made the mistake several times as children and have complained about how hard it is to tell them all apart, and nobody bothered to correct them (because royalty) so Ty Lee believed them.

Well, rather obviously, this is an M113. However, I'd like to talk about how this is actually pretty ingenious improvised camouflage, using abundant materials in the surrounding environment, that, in my opinion, would do a fair job at breaking up their silhouette and making them a harder target.
It reminds me of those trash-based ghillie suits you sometimes see online, for airsofters and whatnot. Anyway, I'll terminate my ramblings, and give an actual I.D. now.
M113 (IMO an A3, though I'm not certain), US APC, FMC corporation, 2023.
95% confidence.

On July 12, 1973, a fire on the sixth floor of the National Archives’ Military Personnel Records Center destroyed over 16 million Official Military Personnel Files.
Record Group 64: Records of the National Archives and Records Administration
Series: Photographs Relating to the Fire at the Military Personnel Records Center in 1973
Image description: A long, six-story building. The window frames on the sixth floor are bent and warped from heat, and smoke is coming out of some of the openings. Fire truck ladders are reaching up to aim water at the fire.

tcw is so good at introducing us to characters and bite-sized stories that capture our attention and so, SO bad at following even a modicum of logic when it comes to the consequences of actions under military law

shoutout to cyberpunk 2077 for discouraging me from wanting to become a fighter pilot
i remember going to some air show, and being just so completely enamoured with the fighters. just. wanting that. flying through the skies at entirely zoo high velocities. surrounded by amazing technology. so what if i'd have to kill ppl? might get killed myself?
"They didn't even have to recruit 'em - they just.. showed them the tech."
i'm having a hard time finding an exact source for that quote, and thus a hard time verifying its accuracy - but something along those lines was saved. and fuck, if that didnt resonate with me then...
not gonna bother doing some in-depth analysis for how that quote fits in today's world or whatever, i suck at that shit. but i feel like it is a sentiment worth spreading. to try n avoid being dazzled by the tech. or noticing when you are, and thinking critically about it.
went to the same airshow a year later, with a new, much more critical view of things. was as cool as ever, except i was a lil less enamoured with the idea of actually using the tech this time 'round. saw an f35, so that was cool.

"she was willing to hurt civilians" so were you!!! like i don't know if they're trying to do something with sam's cognitive dissonance or if this is some sloppy writing but just because someone committed a crime doesn't make them not a civilian according to the law! and sam had no problem stealing them out of custody to use as puppets and meat fodder for task force x when HE was in charge!! i feel like i'm losing my mind!!!!!!
