Two city people manage to inherit a failing vineyard in New Zealand, but neither of them know a thing about hard work and they despise each other.
This is such a delightful show that I have recently come across. I have so far watched Series 1, and it is a lovely, quirky and feel-good show. If you loved programmes like '800 Words', then you will love this too. Watching it feels like being in New Zealand and being on a journey with the characters. A really delightful show worth checking out.
Our Trailblazer conversations continue this week with legend Nalini Singh, whose groundbreaking paranormal series changed the game. We talk about the early days of her writing (when she was a kid!) about building her career in New Zealand, about how she came to publish in the US, about her beautiful relationships with readers, about the way she thinks about her series and how the stories hang together, and about her moves into contemporary and beyond.
New Zealand assets and constraints of the archipelago
The landscapes of New Zealand, which served as the setting for Lords of the Rings, are an asset for the development of tourism in the country. But it is agriculture (breeding, viticulture, etc.) that remains the strong point of the New Zealand economy.
Reminder if you live in North America: the reason why private property is inherently theft, is because you are buying land that was stolen from the indigenous people. So keep that in mind as a frame of reference for your world view.
Just as you would want to throw out any Israeli from those occupying Palestinian homes and land, please be sympathetic to the plight of the indigenous peoples of North America, Australia, and the rest of the global south that had similar imperial theft take place.
You and I might have to partake in it right now, but let's be mindful of the injustice that has taken place, and bring it up front in our collective consciousness. Without awareness no meaningful reparations can be had otherwise.
