This has been something I have been brewing for a long while now! Mainly because it really, really bothered me lmao

See, as iconic as Danganronpa is, the way they depicted a DID system is extremely problematic. I'm not a system myself but even I know the harmful stereotypes of "serial killer alters" and how DID is seen as something "scary" because of these harmful tropes. It is not something "quirky" and it is not something to be demonised. Depictions like these unfortunately lead to misconceptions about this disorder, which I once have had and have seen others have.

And thus, out of spite but also now full of love and passion, I have attempted a rewrite of Toko and Syo! My good homie @banooky (an actual system) has seen me ramble about this rewrite a number of times and has encouraged me to post about it here! Also give them a follow, they're really cool!

That being said, everything shall be under the cut!

First of all, for some context regarding pronouns and such, Syo is a male alter who uses he/him pronouns and is gay as hell. I do see Toko as being bi though!

Anyways, I obviously scrapped the serial killer aspect because that's gross as hell! Like what the fuck!!! That being said, Syo still was initially violent. Not because he's an "evil" alter but because he was a misguided protector who believed violence would protect the system, not realising it was actually stressing Toko out knowing "she" apparently attacked numerous people but not remembering any of it. Even seeing video proof and photos, she couldn't remember it and she was scared of herself for the longest time. They already had a shitty home life in the first place (I gesture towards the canon version of their backstory), so this behaviour only further aggravated their parents.

A lot of the time, Syo would fight (but not kill) those who tried to hurt Toko, whether it be physically or emotionally. He was also very angry at everything and everyone too, even yelling at Toko in their shared consciousness to "stay in line" and to "let him handle things" as he believed that this was the way to keep them safe.

Over time he does eventually become less violent, though he still is very quick to anger. Toko would do her best to supress him over the years once she had learned of his existence, though that did not work as he (and several other alters) would slip through the mental walls she'd attempt to put up against them. But what truly allowed Syo to calm down and reform was what I call a Naegi Intervention.

It had been a long time since he was able to front so the day he suddenly awoke and was front stuck the whole day, he was extremely disorientated. To the point he even put on the wrong uniform (and Toko had gotten both male and female uniforms because she did like the male uniforms but wouldn't have worn the male one in public, even if it seemed more comfortable than a skirt some days.)

Though despite the obvious confusion, most of the class assumed Toko (really Syo) was having an off day, though they were concerned. No one was close enough to Toko at the time though, so they were a little hesitant to ask if everything was okay. But through out the day, Naegi was the one who helped Syo around the school and even walked around with him to help him get his bearings under the assumption this was indeed Toko he was speaking to. The next day, Toko herself apologised and explained the situation to him out of fear Syo had done something terrible again but, Naegi was so confused. But he was indeed willing to learn and understand their situation! And, thus, Naegi became the first person they had ever trusted with knowing about their existence! Over time, Syo would grow less ans less hostile towards others and actually turned out to be a silly yet somewhat awkward kind of guy, though not afraid to speak his own opinion. He would even try to front more often just to speak to Naegi more and even started developing a little crush on him.

Ah but um. Speaking of crushes, Toko and Syo would make fun of each others tastes in men, especially once communication between the both of them becomes more easier. Syo desperately wants Toko to have better taste in men because she only ever goes after the red flags, but Toko thinks Syo's taste in men is boorrrinnngg— He would throw hands with her in their shared headspace over this but he can't bring himself to. If one ever sees them space out and it's not related to them being triggered, they are arguing over who's taste in better. /j

I'm also yet to think of who they would be specifically, but they would also have several other alters in their system! I wouldn't even be surprised if they had many, many introjects from not only the books they would read for comfort in their youth but also the characters from the novels Toko has written. But both Toko and Syo are simply the main fronters. And, hmm, I like to believe that due to Toko's creativity, they have a decent grasp of visualising their inner landscape. Initially, they would have perceived it as a dark set of rooms, but it eventually flourished into a cozy little village by the sea. It's sort of their dream place to be in, in the outer world. They'd love to live in a cozy house by the sea.

I also like to think that over time, they would have gotten comfortable enough with the rest of the cast that they'd allow them to know of their existence too, and be more purposefully covert in their switches. For example, when they have an idea of who'd be fronting for at least the majority of the day, they coordinate their clothing to be more masculine if Syo is the main fronter that day and to be more feminine if it's Toko. But on days they're less certain, especially if they're feeling like they may switch a number of times, they do have more easy to switch cues like their hairstyle (braids for Toko and ponytails for Syo) or bracelets if adjusting their hair turns out to be too much effort a particular day. It really depends on several factors. I also like to think that they also started living away from their family pretty young (and especially after gaining success with Toko's books), so this sort of coordination is safe for them now.

I also like to think that Syo would also get along with Mondo and would train with him too! I think it'd be cute as hell. I'm yet to think about their dynamic with other characters as of now, but I'll perhaps add onto this if I ever do! I'm.. not exactly that deep in the fandom these days anyway.

If I feel silly enough I may even draw this rewrite too!

i think a little co-fronted w/ me this morning b4 i went 2 bed ?? (yes ik i have a fucked sleep schedule lmao)

basically, it was 9 in the morning, and as i was laying down i started to get all anxious and in my head abt shit yk, and suddenly i felt very. Not Me. i felt like a little girl w/ black pigtails, and the voice speaking to me in my head was very young, but very clear too. i felt kinda fuzzy and dissociated too, like i was going into my head if that makes any sense. like, i could feel my consciousness getting pushed out of front.

she told me her name (Katy), and i think she was 5 or 6 years old ? anyways, after a bit she kind of faded away from the front and i felt like i had been pushed back into front, i also had another possible alter introduce themselves to me (John) pretty much right after this, and for some reason i felt like he was maybe the one who pulled katy away from the front, so he might be a caretaker or something ?

Actual life update

Can't 6elieve I've actually graduated university finally. I've 6een enrolled since 2017 and it's 6een a long and hard ride 6ut fuck it's 6een amazing too.

I've learned a lot 6oth academically and introspectively, I'm a very different person thanks to the experience. I've learned so much new appreciation for film and related media that just didn't occur to me 6efore, I've got a lot more confidence in my story telling.

I figured out I'm genderfluid from the way my experiences these last few years played out, that I'm a 6i Les6ian or may6e totally 6i lmao.

I seem to have hit exponential growth in my tum6lr following now, yall keep showing up and I value each and every follow I get on this account 6ut also would appreciate if yall could show the rest of @haven-sys some love too 💙

I've made a lot of friends over this period, lost a few too. 6ut I gotta keep going for those still here and those I'll never forget.

You may be wondering why mr green man looks so different, it's just the funny little "nogard form" or a dark world form just + horns and ears because reasons (For context, Nogard is an extension of headspace that is just an entire planet with a ton of shit, like the "main four" alters (by main four I mean like, the alters who where prominent when we discovered we where a system so they're like, important? In Nogard's creation.) They have entire kingdoms. The Acid Jungle is Codi's, the Endless Abyss is Pearl's, the Sun's Ocean is KN's, and the Lunar Planes are Truth's. Kris was just basically made big boss of the whole thing (because nobody was confident enough to try to take them down from leader position that they gained by fucking murdering people lmao), so they just kinda watch over the entire world? It's crazy but like, I'm not going the one to piss them off so- /hj) it's also been setting to a bit of VATP content. That's probably where it's known idk when I've ever posted about it outside of that. And yes it's technically a dark world since the main people responsible for it's existence are Deltarune fictives)

So the main idea for this one is sort of a play on the prompt. Since it's gargoyle, the immediate reaction is to draw the whole damn dragon. But it goes deeper then that. Since Pearl (the dragon) was basically the first split tm made to literally fight people, she's like the ultimate protector. So running on that I decided to add the current protector also, who is Sal. (Pearl barely fronts anymore so even if she is a protector, she isn't THE protector.) There is actually another protector in sys but I didn't feel like drawing them. (LMAO get fucked.) For no reason more then I really just didn't feel like drawing a whole nother person.

And I thought it would be cool if it was scary so that's why there's a smile on the face screen thing

It really stands out. I think I was planning to make Pearl's eyes glow but haha oops that didn't happen oh well.

I really haven't drawn Pearl's big wof dragon form in a while. Though it is THE iconic appearance she takes on, she's not a direct fictive of any character, more of like, oc fictive? I've heard that can be a thing so there you go. She fits into the world but isn't an existing character. She also will be a cat. Just a cat

OMG HI listen. Figuring out how to write a hs crossover for svsss was both super easy and also took SO much brainpower djdjdjfkf like??? There are 12 peak lords so that works out perfectly but then figuring out the plot of pidwstuck… ngl it still eats my brain!!! AND YEAH villain shen jiu and vriska… although I recently thought about how personality wise vriska and shl also have a lot in common too bc like. Huge bitch etc etc etc

Also I did write an entire dreamwidth post with extended lore lmao…. I try not to assign specific characters one-to-one but I did think about like. The scene where vriska is demanding that tavros kills her but he can’t do it and making it qijiu. Also making that entire scene the last time yqy sees Shen jiu before sy transmigrates in. Fun stuff :)

why MXTX is my new most favourite author

So recently, I started watching The Untamed and then decided midway through that I want that bl so I tried to switch to the novel and that... was a whole fcking mess where now I have no clue what's canon and what's not cause I ended up finishing it by half watching through The Untamed, half through the manhua and half through the novel...

And then I decided to try Scum Villain (SVSSS) and then Heaven Official's Blessing (TGCF) as well because I enjoyed both MDZS and SVSSS. And 3 books later, I'm now writing a post just to express my love for MXTX's wonderful amazing writing. And just to scream into the void of all the reasons why I love her works.

1. Premises

Starting off, her ideas are just very unique and I absolutely love how hooking each of them are!! The world building, the plotting and the settings are insane in practically all of her novels and I'm just in awe of how consistently she keeps coming up with something fresh and interesting that will grab the interest of everyone who stumbles across it.

2. Genres

As somebody who likes to write myself, I consider comedy as the hardest genre to write. Followed by sexual/erotic scenes. And action too! MXTX somehow manages to do all of them so well and I just feel a lot of admiration for her as a writer for all the fun and the heartbreak that she puts into her stories.

3. Romance

MXTX's romance is just *chef's kiss*. There's no other word for it, it's just mind blowingly good. It never gets to the point of being "cheesy" or "cringey" or too forced. It always sounds natural, feels good and feels deep. There is a pattern to how she writes her main characters but I love it. I love that pattern. It's always the other MC (LBG, LWJ, HC) that falls first and falls deep while we see the story from the point of view of someone who falls without even knowing it (SY, WWX, XL). What that leaves behind is the constant thrum of anticipation, of knowing what their actions mean while the main MC is being dumb and frustrating lol. Her dialogues and scenes between them are always just 😵‍💫 [Eg. wangxian's first kiss?? hua cheng's 3000 lanterns??] There is so much love through actions and acts of service and it translates so well into what they have. She writes romance that is meant for the centuries.

4. Characters

MXTX's characters are just. so. good??? Like I'm not even talking about the main characters, it's always the side characters. Like she just has a way of writing such rounded fleshed-out characters with their own stories and own behaviours and own reasonings and you can't help but love them. Really, even the antagonists have so much in them that you can't help but feel for them, even if you hate what they have done. I love how her characterization for each of them is so distinct and clear and their conversations are always so so natural and real and I feel so in awe of the situations she builds up around them. Their problems are always something that can never be blamed onto a single person– they are deep and multi-faceted just like real life. The choices made by the characters are always right in their own terms and you can't even hate them for those choices because you understand the reasoning. That is how real life is and MXTX captures it so so well.

5. Side Stories

Also, what's with her side stories being so fcking angsty 😭 Like beefleaf (Shi Qingxuan and He Xuan) and Banyue in TGCF, XXC/SXC/Xue Yang in MDZS, Shen Jiu and Yue Qingyuan in SVSSS??? She does NOT hold back on the side characters and gives them so much depth that you just start caring for each and every one of them. You see them in a thousand different lights from their own monsters to the smiles they have on now. She writes her side characters like they are real people too and I absolutely love that. So much. That automatically made her one of my favourite authors ever.

Anyway, thank you for coming to my long rant for why I love MXTX and her writing so much lmao. I don't think anyone is interested but I had to get it out of my system. She's fcking amazing.

Hey! Thanks for your patience, I’ve been living hell lately and wanted to give you a thorough answer.

So as a general response (but i will definitely put a list somewhere in this ask with all my recs), I do want to preface by saying I am not and will never diagnose Taylor with anything. When I say “this song reminds me of my psychosis” or “this song is so BPD coded,” it’s my own experience and interpretation of a piece of art that she willingly gave out to be experienced and interpreted.

That being said, I’ll also say that when I say a lot of her songs remind me of having psychosis, it’s not about the staple paranoia, hallucinations, delusions, etc that you may experience (although if anyone has any song recs that do relay that lmk pls lmao all I know is paranoia by neoni 😭😭), it’s more about the slightly more widely experienced, uhhhh, “look” to other people? And to explain that, let’s take a deep dive at uhhhh Blank Space

Ok so the first few stanzas, which I’ll put a picture of here, she’s obviously setting the scene of the song and outright states like twice that the relationship will not last. Before my current partner, that was definitely my viewpoint on things. Knowing my mental illnesses will get in the way of any healthy relationships. That doesn’t immediately spell out psychosis but let’s move.

“Got a long list of ex-lovers; they’ll tell you I’m insane.” So yeah here we get to the meat of it, she’s clearly (imo) acknowledging the “crazy bitch” label and I think that’s something every psychotic person experiences to some degree, even the cishet white masc ones. Like yeah probably not as much as like an afab person or a femme aligned person or someone else, but you can’t act like ableism is ever fully stopped by privilege. It’s not.

More on being a crazy bitch—she has a lot of songs on this. She has a lot to say. I will keep listening, bc yeah lmao.

Ok this next part is like… really relatable to me?? Let me know if you agree, lyrics I’m about to discuss are the next image.

So like yeah it’s like a fun song and it sounds upbeat n shit and like I do have a lot of fun listening to it, but if we pay attention to what she’s actually saying, it’s like yeah she’s throwing a party but that’s because what else is there to do? She’s tried controlling it, she’s tried getting help, getting better, she’s tried being honest, being fake, nothing works. (She is me I am she). So… guess we’re crazy bitches now

I don’t know if any of this is making sense so far, ugh it definitely made more sense in my head

Anyway thats like a super basic example but honestly the what I would personally call ableism that she has had to deal with is LITTERED in her songs. Whether she’s psychotic or not, whether she has BPD or not, anything else, idc. Even if she’s perfectly fucking mentally healthy. Anyone coming at her (or her fans, or uhhh anyone??) for displaying what look like poor mental health symptoms, whether they are or not, is coming at her with ableism.

● my memory from my time in the mansion is... fuzzy, but i do remember tessa. she was a skinny brown haired girl who always wore bows. she was very kind, i remember as far back as her being a child. the master and mistress wouldnt let us close to her, but she was always fascinated by drones

• i dont think disassembly drones were made the same way as we were in canon. i know we were basically undead workers, but afterwards we were something else entirely, and we werent created by the solver.

• disassembly drones had two jaws! the second jaw was meant for crushing and pulverizing matter, such as metal, to be used to regrow body parts (like my head lmao)

• the headcanon about the lights on the tops of our heads being our eyes was true! so was drone purring :3

• we all had paws! disassembly drones had puffier ones, and workers had theirs mostly painted on. uzi wore gloves to keep hers hidden

• j and v were my sisters. not... literally, but we had a group sibling dynamic. j was the oldest, v the middle and me the youngest, in terms of personality anyway. j and v did NOT treat me like canon. j was a little rough, but she had a protective streak and took her leadership seriously. that didnt mean she didnt care! and v was kind of my rival - we always playfully butted heads and even roughhoused often. we still do in-sys lol

• i was a lot more like the n from the pilot. i had no problem attacking or killing people for the right reasons, even if they were workers or not. i did try not to attack workers cus of uzi, but sometimes i couldnt help it. plus, some of them were being mean and dserved it! ^^ if i did, i made sure not to do it near uzi or the others. most of the time, if i did drink worker oil it was from ones that were already offline.

• murder/robot gore/stalking cw. it was very very easy for me to get uh. carried away in the hunt. i loved the thrill, the feeling, the sounds of metal crushing under my claws. the oil was so delicious, it was hard not to. the way i moved when in hunting mode was a lot like an animal. id often get down on all fours and stalk my prey, and i loved to chase. v and i would often compete for body counts before i met uzi and the others (which was hard, because they werent always in one piece)

• v's hunting style was like a birds. she'd swoop down a lot, attacking her target from above or bringing them in the air with her. j's was quick but effective, and she always made a point to end it quickly. she uh, played around a LOT less than me and v did and she often scolded us for taking too long

• honestly, i was akin to a guard dog, especially around uzi. i kind of hated the people who were mean to her and casted her out. it made me angry to think about her being hurt in any capacity. she tried hard to teach me that she didnt need protecting, but it never went away. shes my little worker drone, no ones allowed to be mean to her! >:(

• on that note, uzi and i were never a thing. i dunno if she ever had feelings for me, but she never acted on them if she did. she was a puesdo-sibling to me if anything.

• i have a lot of memories of trying to teach uzi how to get a hang of her solver form. anything from supplying her with oil to flying lessons.

• i did kinda treat workers like cute pets at first ^^; i took on a protective role whenever i was around them. most of them didnt "step out of line" (i use that term loosely) because i think they were still scared of me, but i didn't mind as long as they stayed safe

• i think in some kind of way i ended up being the protector of uzi's colony. i have a lot of memories of being inside or outside the doors. i think id patrol around looking for any other disassemblers that were trying to get in. maybe this was just something I did of my own accord, idk

• as for j and v, i dont think they joined me perse. they helped me out n stuff and we saw each other often but they mostly stayed at the spire

• uzi did eventually get control of her solver form! she grew more traits similar to it, like sharper teeth and claws, but she was pretty much able to go in and out of it at will!!! I was very proud of her :)

• uzi kept their robot parts under their bed in a backpack for when the solver got a bit Hangry. i remember helping her put oil in small canisters so she'd always have something. getting control of the form itself came first, but the urges... took awhile to get under wraps
