Today at P.E there was this group of kids throwing a bunch of different balls into a basketball hoop. And there was a whole group of people watching it and cheering anytime they got another ball into the hoop like it was peak entertainment.
Here an artistic rendition of it

Love that girls will be able to play football in school now. Honestly it never occurred to me in my school days that it was weird that only boys were playing it o.O I think I would have enjoyed it (while being awful at it!) far more than netball 😑
But... making each school have a minimum of two hours of P.E a week sounds like a hellish nightmare O.O back in the day (I'm old.) We only had to do one and even that was traumatising!
P.E isn't for everyone 🫤
I legit have nightmares about it still! Like dream me knows I haven't been to school for awhile but can never work out why that is. (I'm old. Very old. That's why.) All I know is that I have to go back and do P.E again. O.O
The relief when I wake up and realise I don't.... Nothing like it.

The Ps of Perfect Pedagogy
‘Plan’ is where all pedagogical endeavours begin; it assesses the end goal for the learners and breaks it down into strategic and digestible parts for the participants. Establishing the priorities in a plan focuses the learner’s energy on clearly defined tasks rather than overwhelming them with an unrealistic goal. Teachers explain in succession what must, what should and what could be introduced in a structured curriculum over weeks and months. The art of teaching begins with planning to efficiently utilize time and curriculum constraints to produce the best learning experiences possible for students. Planning considers a range of variables, not only time and curriculum but also the past experiences of the students and the nature of the activity to tailor the depth and scope of the learning to those involved. This step is critical in developing pedagogical judgement and acumen. ‘Prepare a protected learning environment’ is another step an instructor must take before teaching begins. Preparing an environment for learners means minimizing physical and emotional risks. Making an environment optimal for students’ success requires a teacher to anticipate the potential concerns and needs of the students; this step goes hand in hand with planning and commitment to the learning experience overall. In a practical sense, this assures that potential roadblocks are foreseen and planned for. Preparing an environment for students entails ensuring the classroom or gym is ready and establishing a positive and welcoming atmosphere for the students. Making sure that values such as respect, care and responsibility are clear for everyone involved is also a part of preparing a protected learning environment.
‘Prepare the learner’ sets the groundwork for a practical pedagogical experience and establishes the working relationship between students and teachers. Preparing students means harnessing and sustaining their enthusiasm and cultivating a positive relationship between an individual student, an instructor, and the whole group. This step involves igniting a commitment to the content of the class and an individual’s commitment to their learning. ‘Present the task efficiently’ aims at the prominent yet often challenging aspect of communication that comes with pedagogy. Presenting the task in a meandering or unclear manner decreases engagement and, thus, learning. It is paramount that teachers be succinct in giving a lesson and use concise language that is appropriate for the age level. More importantly, provide demonstrations that expose the students to a game situation rather than merely describing it. This assures that students are actively learning rather than passively learning. Demonstrations should always come before verbal explanations to ensure students are clear on the instructions. Avoiding explanations in the abstract is also crucial in efficiently presenting the ask; this is done by introducing rules and tactics in context. This is to guide students to learn not only what they are practicing but precisely why. Physical education teachers must communicate how the plat practice is to be carried out and the focus of the specific practice, emphasizing the ‘how’ and ‘why’  in any given learning situation. Lastly, ‘provide opportunities for plenty of practice’ is the most definitive aspect of learning. The more educators provide ample practice opportunities, the more successful their learners become. All of the previous P’s of pedagogy support and maximize time for intentional playing and practicing.
The P’s model is based on circumstances in which students learn best. The first of these circumstances is people not being faced with immediate failure. This directly relates to planning a program or a class that is in tune with students’ past knowledge or experience in a subject; if an activity is not appropriately designed, it can lead to immediate failure. This is why correctly implementing progressions is critical when planning an activity. For example, introducing the basketball game to students without prior knowledge or experience will result in immediate failure and decrease the student's ability to participate. To build up to playing an entire basketball game, students must learn the fundamental movements and skills of the game. Progressively implementing skills learning such as passing and dribbling, along with correct movement patterns in running, jumping and pivoting, are all essential elements that must be taught and practiced before playing basketball. If students have never handled a basketball before, asking them to play a game immediately decreases their willingness to learn.
The second circumstance that is best for learners is feeling that the task is challenging but can be mastered if they can make an effort. This brings together planning, fostering a protected learning environment and giving opportunities to practice. If tasks are too easy for students, the value of learning decreases; if they are faced with immediate failure, the value also decreases. For example, practicing a specific basketball skill, such as shooting a basketball, requires a technique that must be practiced and mastered over time. The students may feel that learning the appropriate cues is challenging at first but understand that learning these cues will eventually result in learning to shoot a basketball. Teachers must design challenging drills yet provide the scaffolding for them to succeed.
The third circumstance is communicating a precise model of the learning task, sharing what the students must be learning and why they are learning it. This entails demonstrations above all else; actively demonstrating something ensures students have a clear picture of how something should be done, not only abstractly explained—for example, learning how to do a pick and roll in basketball, this offensive move must be demonstrated in context, and is a more advanced concept that involves multiple moving parts. Showing this in a game-play scenario gives context and how and why this could be used. Verbally explaining a pick and roll can be easily lost in translation—meaning students can easily get lost in the use of technical language and lengthy explanations when attempting to explain more complex skills.
Lastly, students learn best when they know their significant other care about their development. This is when artfulness in teaching is most pronounced. Although the teacher cannot control students' personal lives, facilitating moments where students can showcase their progress to their significant others’ meets the emotional needs associated with learning. Cultivating peer-to-peer learning and support is also a part of this circumstance. For example, encouraging the participation of parents during an organized P.E outing, such as a cross-country skiing trip, can strengthen the learning process for students who have been practicing the skills associated with cross-country skiing and now have the opportunity to showcase their development with a parent, along with their classmates.

thinking about the horde makes me laugh because its whole deal is that it is a hostile environment where children are groomed into weapons and being forced to fight in the war against their will and taught propaganda about the princesses, but apparently they also provide pretty dresses for prom and the cadets can leave the horde whenever they want, no sweat.
