Hi!! I saw you have requests open for Homicipher! Could I ask for a drabble with Mr. Gap? I feel like he's underrated but he's my favorite. Maybe a first kiss with him?
⊱ Connection ⊰ || Mr. Gap X Reader
╭─━━━━━━━━━━━━─╮
Character(s): Mr. Gap (Homicipher/文字化化) Reader Type: Human (Gender-Neutral Pronouns) Warning(s): Spoilers for Homicipher (specifically Return End), Canon-typical Mentions of Violence (and horror-elements), Unhealthy Coping Mechanisms (Reader briefly uses physical pain to distract themselves from their emotional discomfort; they also sleep to avoid their emotions), Creature/Monster X Human Relationship (Mr. Gap doesn’t fully comprehend or understand the concept of love the way that humans do, but that’s a barrier for, like… the majority of the cast haha). Anything spoken in the other world’s language will be bolded. Genre: Drabble, Fluff (Hurt/Comfort), Slight Angst, Romantic or Platonic Relationship (It’s Complicated, honestly). Word Count: ~2,685 Request: “Hi!! I saw you have requests open for Homicipher! Could I ask for a drabble with Mr. Gap? I feel like he's underrated but he's my favorite. Maybe a first kiss with him?” Author’s Note: Yipee, my first Homicipher request! Thank you for sending one in! I find Mr. Gap’s character quite entertaining – I loved the running gag of him asking the MC for different parts of their body and being like “for real?” whenever you said no. I found his desire to brag to be quite endearing, too, strangely enough. A lot of the moments that had me chuckling involved Mr. Gap, so I’m somewhat fond of his character as a result. I haven’t written any horror-meets-romance stories since my Creepypasta days, so I apologize if this is a little rough or OOC. I’m still trying to finish the game and digest all the lore haha.
→ If you enjoyed my work, please reblog it if you can! Exposure on Tumblr is based on reblogging content rather than liking it, so your support would be much appreciated! ♡

⋆﹥━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━﹤⋆
Living within the other world had become your new normal at this point, even if you spent most of your days curled under the covers of whatever bed you could find. You slept whenever you had the chance. It wasn’t necessarily because you were tired, but rather a desire to keep your mind from wandering too much. You still found the occasional earthquakes and frequently shifting dimly-lit hallways confusing to traverse at best or frustrating to deal with at worst, but you hoped you would slowly grow to get used to them with more time.
You run your hands down your face as you lay on the strangely pristine white bed, staring down at the blue bag that rested by your feet on the floor. For whatever reason, there was a strange feeling of loneliness that was deep-seated in your chest. It was a weight pulling you down, and it was one that had lingered for quite some time now.
When you returned to the other world, you realized that you would most likely never be able to see Mr. Silvair or Mr. Crawling again. Despite telling yourself it was fine, that life was all about encounters and departures, that horrendous emptiness in your heart hadn’t diminished yet.
You remember when Mr. Gap brought you back to the other world in exchange for a heart – your mind is conflicted when you think about the organ you had given him, a heart that wasn’t yours. You squeeze your eyes shut, trying not to think about it for longer than you need to.
You try to remember his hand reaching out from the dark void of the bag after arriving in the strange world once more. You remember the way his cold palm felt against your scalp, lightly patting your hair in a way you thought was meant to be comforting… only for him to state he wanted your head with that jokester-esque grin of his.
You chuckle quietly to yourself at the memory of the expression that crossed his face whenever you told him that, no, he’s not allowed to take your fingers or whatever else seems to pique his interest at the moment. Then, your mind remembers the look on his face when you asked if he was worried about you. Mr. Gap didn’t seem as though he was capable of experiencing emotions the way that most humans were, but, well… it was someone to talk to, at least, even if you run the risk of him asking for an organ or body part or hair. What did he even do with that stuff, anyway?
Letting out a deep sigh, your eyes fall to the bag on the floor. He really only appeared whenever he wanted, but maybe you could see if he was in the mood to at least startle you as he so often enjoyed doing. With a deep breath, you reach down and grab the bag by its black straps, feeling the somewhat rough fabric against your palms. It wasn’t a pleasant feeling, per se, but it was a reminder that at least you could still feel.
You open the carrier, and the only thing that greets you is that inky blackness. You briefly wonder if it was an infinite darkness held within the unassuming gym bag, and what would happen if you just threw random things inside for the fun of it. However, as you stare into the void, a familiar face pops into view, effectively startling you out of your trance.
Mr. Gap smiles even wider at your reaction, seemingly proud of himself for still managing to startle you. You’d think that you would be more immune to jumpscares after spending so much time in the other world, but apparently not.
“Scared you.” Mr. Gap speaks proudly, the language you had slowly been absorbing over your journey becoming easier and easier to decipher and remember. That was good at least, you thought. It would be far too difficult to live in a place where you couldn’t even understand what everyone was saying.
You roll your eyes at him, speaking under your breath but loud enough so he could hear your muttering, “You’re rude, you know that?”
He stares up at you with an unimpressed expression, waiting for you to speak again. Eventually, you tell him with a frown, speaking to him in a language he understood, “You mean.”
It was his turn to roll his eyes at you, yet he seemingly did not take any offense to your comment. Then, his gaze returns to your face, and you two simply stare at each other in a prolonged silence. Well, now what? How exactly do you explain to a creature that you were lonely when they probably couldn’t even empathize with what you were experiencing? Did you even know the word for lonely in their language, if there was one?
“I, umm…” You pause, taking a moment to try and figure out the words to say, averting your gaze to a crack in the concrete flooring of the room you had made into your makeshift home. Mr. Gap is surprisingly patient, staring up at you while your hands begin to fidget with the textured straps of the bag. You look back down at him and say, your voice is surprisingly soft, “I upset. Want talk.”
Then, almost as if on cue, he smiles and reaches a hand out of the bag, making a grabbing motion as he asks, “Give heart?”
Honestly, you weren’t sure what else you were expecting, and now you felt like an idiot for expecting literally anything else to come out of his mouth. You frown deeply and quickly zip up the bag, disregarding the shocked expression on his face at the action, before tossing it on the floor without a second thought. You let out a groan, clawing your hands down your face while trying to ignore the stinging sensation your nails left in their wake across your skin.
At least the pain raking across your flesh was a distraction from the ache in your chest.
You decide, once more, to take a nap. Whenever your mind was racing or the thoughts became too much to bear, you slept. Honestly, there wasn’t much else you could do here. After all, you weren’t in the mood to go around swinging at anything and everything with your crowbar, especially since you had vowed to only use it in self-defense. This world was your home now, and you didn’t want to make enemies who would, in return, only make your existence more miserable.
You close your eyes and attempt to drift off into the world of dreams, a place that wasn’t this world nor the one you came from, yet your attention is grabbed by the feeling of something shifting under the covers. Your eyes fly open faster than light as your fist grabs the thick comforter, lifting it quickly while your other hand went to grab the crowbar you kept by your bedside.
However, Mr. Gap’s face comes into view, and your hand pauses as soon as your fingers graze across the rusted metal of your weapon. You frown deeply and tell him with a sternness in your tone, “I told you to stop doing that – I’m going to accidentally kill you one of these days.”
“Why upset?” He asks you suddenly, and it’s a question that has your mind stopped in its tracks. You hadn’t been expecting him to come back so soon, let alone ask you a question like that. For a moment, you wonder if he was worried about you, only for the memory of the last time you asked him that question to pop into your head.
You lay there, staring at the darkness under the covers, debating on whether or not you should tell him your true feelings. After some moment of contemplation, you decide to try and speak with him about what you have been experiencing. After all, the worst thing that would probably happen is him asking for your heart again or something.
“I…” You start, pausing for a moment to swallow, your tongue strangely heavy in your mouth, “No home. I lonely.”
Mr. Gap’s brows furrow and he states plainly, “This home.”
Just as you thought, he didn’t understand. If anything, your statement only seemed to confuse him further. His expression was also different, one you hadn’t quite seen on him before. You had seen him shocked, smug, and displeased, but the look on his face appeared almost… frustrated?
You begin to try and snake your way out from under the covers, feeling like going on a walk now instead of trying to take a nap. However, the room suddenly goes dark as Mr. Gap pulls you back under the sheets, covering your entire body in the surprisingly soft duvet. For a moment, you feel panic swell in your veins and you wonder if something you had said upset him to the point of wanting to kill you. However, no pain ever came. You just heard his voice state once more, “This home.”
“No, I know it’s my home now, I just…” You speak, your mind going through word after word, attempting to translate what you want to tell him in his language. It was a little unnerving, being unable to see anything in the darkness that now enveloped your body. You pushed that anxiety aside, though, telling Mr. Gap, “I… miss touch. Miss connection. This world different – lonely.”
There’s once again no reply, and soon the feeling of another under the sheets disappears. You let out a long sigh as you remove yourself from under the covers, Mr. Gap no longer under the blanket with you. You take a moment to compose yourself before standing up from the bed and grabbing your reliable crowbar – it was walking time.
You walked and walked in circles until your legs felt ready to collapse, returning to your makeshift base after what seemed like hours. You fell face-first onto the bed, your crowbar slipping from your hand to the concrete floor with a loud clatter; you probably would have cringed at the noise if not for the exhaustion in your bones. There’s a long stretch of silence, and you feel sleep start to creep into your mind, when a simple “Hello” snaps you out of your stupor.
You turn your head from where it was nuzzled into a pillow to look down at the bag you had tossed to the floor earlier, seeing Mr. Gap peeking up at you from inside. You wonder if you should say anything back before eventually relenting, echoing to him the same greeting.
There’s a shuffling noise, the sound of paper being crinkled before you watch as he pulls out what appears to be a magazine, holding it out for you to take. You sit up in the bed and look down at him with a blank expression, saying with your lips pulled into a flat line, “No head. No finger. No heart–”
“Not want anything.” He replies, effectively cutting you off as he holds out the magazine closer to you. It seems as though he can read the expression of pure disbelief on your face before he clarifies, “Take paper. You have.”
Despite some reservations, you eventually do reach out and take the small book from his grasp, whispering your thanks. It’s a relatively new magazine, surprisingly, and only the edges of the glossy paper seemed crinkled. You flip through the pages, wondering what information you were supposed to be deriving from the book. After all, it didn’t seem like anything special–...
Then, a picture of two people hugging appeared. Two humans, holding each other in a tight embrace with bright and happy smiles on their faces. One was kissing the other’s cheek, and the mere sight alone caused your breath to hitch. Oh, it seemed like ages since the last time you felt the level of comfort with another like the people in the picture, and there was a part of yourself that regretted coming back. It wasn’t like you belonged in your world anymore, either… you really were a monster with nowhere to call home, weren’t you?
“Why upset?” Mr. Gap asks, his voice surprisingly gentle. You look down at him and wonder how he knew you were hurting. Then, you heard the sound of something hitting the pages of the magazine in your hand. Your gaze returns to the book below you, noticing the water droplets that had fallen down your cheeks and onto the magazine, causing the ink on the paper to bleed slightly. You quickly wipe your face yet, before you can do anything else, two arms wrap around your waist and your body is once again shrouded in the darkness under the covers as Mr. Gap pulls you under.
His body is cold to the touch, you note, yet it’s not an unpleasant sensation. Before you have the chance to speak, you hear Mr. Gap tapping the page of the magazine in your hand, asking you quietly, “You want that? Touch?”
“Do I… want a hug?” You ask him, wishing you had the ability to see in the dark. You hum and lay your head back, enjoying the softness of the pillow underneath your skull, “I want good touch.”
You close your eyes and wait, expecting Mr. Gap to ask for something in return or simply disappear… but he doesn’t, and you find your eyes flying open when you feel his arms wrap around your torso. His touch was experimental, uncertain as his palms rested against your lower back. His head is resting on your stomach and although you cannot see him, you know he is staring at your face through the darkness.
You suddenly find yourself becoming choked up, the tears forming in your eyes as your arms instinctively wrap around him as well, holding him close to your body like one would hold a stuffed toy. Mr. Gap makes a strangled noise, yet you don’t let up on your hold. You sit up on the bed, dragging him along with you, before nuzzling your face into what you assumed was his neck.
He’s completely frozen, his hold on you never once faltering yet never once tightening, either. A part of you wonders if you broke him or something, especially considering he had never really been the physically affectionate type. You both sit like this under the covers for a long time, and you eventually feel his body and muscles relax under your touch.
While the ache in your chest wasn’t gone, it had definitely diminished as you both held onto each other with a tinge of desperation in both of your actions. You let out a sigh, and you feel Mr. Gap shiver as your warm breath fans against his cold skin. The dried tear stains on your cheeks made your skin feel tight, but you smiled nevertheless as you whispered to him, “Thank you. I grateful – happy.”
Your hand reaches up, cupping his cheek in your palm as you slowly guide his face to yours. Oh, how you wish you could have seen his expression as you placed a kiss on his cheek, your slightly chapped lips pressing against his marred flesh. You feel him jolt, and you wonder if he’ll disappear right then and there. He doesn’t though, and instead, you feel his hands remove themselves from your hips to hold your face in his grasp.
Instinctively, you close your eyes, and you feel the slight tremble in his fingers as he leans closer. You smile softly, finding his nervous demeanor to be quite cute considering how smug he tended to be. Then, you felt it, his lips against your cheek.
Mr. Gap’s lips were in even worse shape than yours, but you found yourself not caring in the slightest as he placed shockingly gentle kisses against the apple of your cheek. You giggle at the sweet action, the noise of your laughter egging him on as his kisses become more confident and more frequent. You do the same, placing feather-light kisses against his skin, whispering to him as you pepper his face in smooches, “Happy, happy, happy...”

Turning up the Y2K vibes +50%
Sketch page turned into a character ref, while I think Piq's design still has some more work to do, I'm much happier with him getting a bit more complex, especially with an eventual transition to 3D happening at some point.

2. How and when did you get into VtM?
10. What's been your favourite interaction throughout your VtM experiences? Can be in game, playing video games.. anything.
17. You suddenly switch places with one of your characters, which one would you prefer to be?
2. So– funny story. I actually heard about Vampire the Requiem first. I found it just organically in a book store in around 2007. I didn't really understand what it was until I saw an article about VTR larp in a very short-lived nerd magazine called PiQ. I was about 13/14 then, so too young to play. But it stayed in the back of my mind until I was in college, and got chances to play then. Mostly through MES and an Atlanta-based group called AIT.
10. I think Seneca's entire character arc was just so incredible. He became the lackey of a meglomaniac Malkavian elder (that he was also hopelessly in love with.) They made a sort of Faustian deal in order to protect the faction he was a primogen of from the Christian vampires. But in the process, he sacrificed a lot of his ideals and became a ruthless tyrant too.
There was a particular moment though that was incredible where he was on a suicide mission to protect St. Petersburg from a group of Tzimisce who had a claim to the land. There was this epic battle where several player characters died. But Seneca managed to diablerize a Tzimisce by making out with them on the floor and draining them through their tongue. Peak Toreador nonsense.
17. Oh, Benoît for sure. This bitch is 7 feet tall, has a closet full of haute couture, and a beautiful home in the Vieux Carré in New Orleans. But also they have a very stable position as priest of their pack.
And just for fun, the one I'd want to switch places with the LEAST would be Morgan. My son... he has every disease.

I'm sorry for sending you two asks in one day, but I would love to hear you ramble about some of your favorite OCs you've created if you would like to (as long as you have the energy/brain capacity for it; no pressure)
No need to be sorry, and I'd love to talk about them!!
I'm not sure how I can choose favourites though, I love all my little guys🥺 So I'll talk about a few particular ones (featuring their old reference art)
If I did have a choose a favourite it would probably be Sammy Celestine, as bar two others I've had him the longest. He's a piece of nebula that gained sentience and landed on Earth (hijinks will ensue). He's fully embraced the lifestyle and culture of 1980s California, he loves rock music, rollerskating and visiting the arcade. He's part of a friend group of humans, and whilst he can appear human himself when necessary he tends to stay looking like himself when only in his friends' company.
He's one of my of my OCs who are inspired by songs, in this case the Queen song "Spread Your Wings" and David Bowie's "Starman".
Then there's Bard, who whilst I named I didn't actually design, I bought him off my lovely mutual @honey-dont! I haven't really fleshed him out all that much, he's just a little guy doing little guy things :]
Then Kels, who originated from a huge sci-fi project I was working on a few years back (the worldbuilding document was nearly sixty pages long!). I sadly lost the original document and didn't have heart to continue it, but I decided to revive a couple of my favourite characters from it just as OCs.
Kels is a Calcanium, an alien race of my own creation. He was originally a general in the Calcanium army, but he's been remodeled into a scout under Commander Piq. He works with his pet "cat" Parellax, the actual brains of their operations.
There's also Drowse and Inferna, a pair of elemental spirits who are a married couple. They spend their time doing sickeningly cute couple things <33
They're also inspired by songs (again, Queen), Drowse is named after the song of the same name, and they're overall inspired by songs like Seaside Rendevous, Millionaire Waltz, You and I.
#thank you for the ask emmy! always happy to talk about my little guys :D#clyde's ocs#asks#second to none

Alyssa Contreras, 4th year Sustainable Environment Design Major Hometown: Hayward, CA
2. What’s your roman empire?
My roman empire is that all major cities in California rank within the top 10 of major cities in the U.S. with the most car-dependent infrastructure 🧍♂️ I jus wanna be a walking city girl 😿
3. What is the best compliment you have ever received?
One of my mentors in life once told me that I have a good way of comforting people because I can usually empathize with others while still respecting differences in judgment and opinion. Made me feel kinda smart ig
4. If your life was a movie what genre would it be (comedy, horror, drama, etc.) and what actor would play you?
If my life were a movie, it would be a combination of all the genres listed; the comedy aspect would come from the unreasonable amount of confidence I (as the main character) have. The drama scenes would revolve around getting prosecuted in court for “accidentally” stealing from Target, and the horror aspect would come from the feelings of anxiety one would get while watching this movie because of how awful it ends up being 😇
5. What is something on your college bucket list?
I would like to be able to go into a bar and not have to pay for a drink the entire night cause that'd be kinda slay. But I guess if It were something within my own control it would be to make 4 packets of Jin ramen at once, one for all my besties :-)

My guilty pleasure is the strawberry guava celsius or spicy jin ramen with soft-boiled egg, kimchi & soft tofu.

8. What are your favorite song lyrics?
"DJ, turn me up, ladies, this your jam (Come on) I'ma sip Moscato, and you gon' lose them pants (Ooh) Then I'ma throw this money while you do it with no hands (L'eggo) Girl, drop it to the floor (Yeah) I love the way your booty go "
9. Defend your unpopular opinion/ hot take
10. Describe a time where you had to step up and be a leader?
Y'all gon have me in here writing some responses like my PIQs for my college application
With the values of community inclusivity and a personal desire to build character, I find that whenever I enter a new place, I am immediately drawn to analyze the way systems of a community group work and how it serves its people.
A time in my life that I feel was best reflected during my involvement in UC Davis’ Housing and Urbanism Program in Spain. I worked with a team of five other students to analyze the Urban Landscape and Housing typologies of the PobleNou area of Barcelona we spent 8 weeks evaluating the developing area and engaging with various community members and stakeholders currently involved in the development. We were asked to step up and be leaders using our educational background to get current community members of the PobleNou area more involved in Civic Engagement.
Facing the challenge of encouraging community members to voice their opinions on the impact of the development, I employed a creative approach rooted in my love for music. Though not conventional, I initiated a collaborative Spotify playlist for the neighborhood. Participants were invited to add songs accompanied by personal stories linking the music to memories of their time in PobleNou. Surpassing my expectations, the playlist sparked meaningful engagement, offering fresh insights through the lens of music.
As diverse perspectives emerged from the residents, I gained an understanding of how the development affected community members and their families. Using this unconventional tool of a curated playlist, I sought to recreate the emotional essence of moments spent in these locations by tourists and residents. Through the power of music, a vivid image began to take shape, highlighting various underrepresented aspects of the Poble Nou neighborhood. This experience showed me how the potential for unconventional yet welcoming approaches to leadership often yields profound insights and fosters meaningful connections within a community. With this casual yet meaningful connection made, community members allowed their reflections to drive them to become increasingly involved in helping developers with the goal of reclamation works in this industrial area of the city.
Goodbye I cannot believe I explained this elaborate story to y'all, if you have read this far, know that my willingness to write this out came from 1. I had copy-pasted most of it from another doc 2. It was something I was really passionate abt and had fun doing so I would talk abt it a million times 3. ma xpressions was already late anyway...

Beyond the Transcripts: My College Applications
Starting the college application journey is a significant milestone for any student and my experiences applying to the University of California (UC) system and to the Ivy leagues was both challenging and rewarding. I'll share my experiences into my application process and the importance of highlighting achievements.
The UC and Ivy application process is known for its approach, taking into account not just academic scores but also personal achievements, extracurricular activities, and unique experiences. As I sat down to do the application, I realized the importance of showing not just my grades but also the qualities that make me a well-rounded individual.
A key aspect of the UC application is the Personal Insight Questions (PIQs). These questions provided a platform to showcase my personal experiences, challenges, and triumphs. It was an opportunity to go beyond the resume and transcripts, allowing me to share my authentic self with the admissions team. My responses that highlighted my growth, resilience, and passion was crucial in presenting a compelling narrative.
Entering the realm of Ivy League admissions required a more a nuanced approach, distinct from the UC system. Beyond stellar academic achievements and extracurricular pursuits, these institutions seek individuals who show exceptional leadership, innovation, and a profound impact on their communities. Acknowledging this, I realized the importance of not just showcasing accomplishments but also demonstrating a forward-thinking mindset and a commitment to making a difference.
When discussing accomplishments and achievements, I found it valuable to strike a balance between humility and confidence. While it's essential to showcase your strengths, it's equally important to convey a genuine sense of self-awareness. I reflected on the lessons learned from my achievements, emphasizing not only what I accomplished but also how those experiences shaped my character and aspirations. This concept was the same for both the Ivy and the UC.
Alongside academic transcripts and personal statements, institutions often seek comprehensive letters of recommendation that not only attest to academic prowess but also shed light on personal qualities, character, and potential for impactful contributions to the university community. Volunteer experiences took on significance, showing commitment to service and community engagement. Admissions committees often look for candidates who not only excel academically but also actively contribute to the betterment of society through volunteer work or community initiatives. Demonstrating a genuine passion for making a positive impact beyond the classroom is key. Extracurricular involvement, leadership roles, and a range of experiences gained further prominence.
Researching each UC campus and tailoring my application to align with their unique values and strengths was a pivotal step. Each university has its distinct culture and academic focus, and demonstrating a clear understanding of why I was a good fit for each institution added depth to my application.
As I navigated through the application requirements, I also sought feedback from mentors, teachers, and peers. Constructive criticism played a crucial role in refining my essays and ensuring that my application presented compelling story.
In the end, submitting my applications was a moment of both relief and anticipation. The exhaustive effort put into presenting my accomplishments and achievements in the best light possible had come to fruition.
Regardless of the outcome, the effort invested in crafting a genuine and thoughtful application was a journey of self-discovery that will undoubtedly shape my path forward, wherever it may lead.

Lineart and (Test) Colors for my Beatrix Althea “More Black Nurses”. The flowers were so hard to draw!
Also, doing Black hair in flat colors (with upcoming future shading) is going to be interesting. I have my own Afro to reference with, not as large as Beatrix’s here, but I can try to find a similar hat.

Shigaraki Headcannons
Hey y’all, I wrote some soft Shigaraki headcannons because I don’t see a lot of them out there on the interwebs :( and I just wanna be soft with the gamer boy, I love him. Enjoy!
He loves how you smell, it’s one of the many things he loves about you. You always smell so sweet and comforting to him. If you leave your blanket, a stuffed animal, or even a jacket behind, he will happily just hold it and smile gently at it, until you came back, just happy knowing it was yours.
You buy him lavendar lotion and like to rub and massage him with it. His back is always tense and so are his arms. He will completely melt into you as your rub the lotion in. He feels like he is on cloud nine whenver you hold or touch him.
He wears artist gloves so he can hold you without fear, and you both learn to do embroidery together because you insist he needs to do something that dosent involve screens. He will remember your favorite flowers and will try to embroider them onto his gloves. On one glove, your favorite flower, and on the other, you sewed his.
He will love teaching you about any video game and piqs your interest. He will let you sit on his lap and go through all of his games until you find one you like. He will start the game and teach you how to play, or if it’s two player, play with you.
He loves it when you cheer him on when he is playing games, and he adores all the affection you give him, he would die for a kiss on the cheek or forehead from you. Wether he wins or loses, you giving him a lil kiss always makes his eyes light up with a sparkle.
He thinks you are absolutely gorgeous. He is a definite thigh man, and he loves to rest his head on yours whenver you are sitting, busy doing something. He loves kissing and praising every part of you. Everytime you insult yourself his heart breaks, he will hold you and compliment you, and kiss you until you are a giggling mess.
He dosent like PDA, at all, but if he sees anyone try and flirt with you, he becomes very jealous. He will immediately be on you, a gentle hand on your shoulder, back, hip, anything, and will stare daggers into whoever you were talking to. He wouldn’t do anything unless they decided to touch you or hurt you in anyway. If they did, well... say goodbye to their hands, they didn’t need them anyways (shrug)
Once again, Tomura dosent know how to or ever really wants to take care of himself most of the time, but for you? Oh, he would do anything. You gently pulling him in the bath or shower, washing his hair, he will nuzzle right into you and tell you just how much he loves you over and over again. omg hiiiii i am here from cat (@luvdsc) wondering if you could offer any advice about college apps 🙏 especially about the uc piqs? thank you so much i hope ur doing well!!!!!!!!
yes yes hello friend !! 💝 miss cat directed you to me because i did my college apps last year !!! (yikes one year passed already?? why does that feel ages ago 🤧)
first of all, congratulations on making the decision to apply to college !! i know it’s been hard for a lot of people our age to figure out the college situation recently, so i’m proud of you for choosing to take the extra step this summer to buckle up and write those essays 💞
i’ve compiled a few tips on answering the PIQs (i was actually in the middle of typing this up when i received your ask haha), but some of them can be applied to other essays, as well !! they’re all under the cut (because, unfortunately, being brief is not my forte) 😊
(and for reference, the prompts i chose were #2 (creativity), #6 (subject), #7 (community), and #8 (anything) !!)
tip #1: understand the prompt.
before you even begin writing, it’s important to understand what the question is really asking. for the UC PIQs, this will look different depending on which four prompts you decide to do.
in question one, for example, they want to know about your skills in leading others, but notice that they’re also curious about your resolution abilities and teamwork experience. or in question two, they don’t want to know that you paint and that you love painting—they could be asking how resourceful you are, how you think outside the box when you have an idea.
once you know the question you’re going to be answering, you can move on to brainstorming!
tip #2: write down three (3) key takeaways.
these are like the most basic, not-even-a-sentence answers you would give to each question. so for me, in response to question eight (“what do you believe makes you stand out as a strong candidate for the UCs?”), my answers were perseverance, courage, and character. i had a story about that, so i wrote about my experience with martial arts.
i recommend you do something similar. decide on three things that you want to communicate to your audience, and write them in the footnote of your document. your goal is to cover all three points so that, if anyone were to read your essay, they would walk away understanding those three things about you.
i found this strategy really helpful for keeping my essay streamlined while writing—if a sentence didn’t relate to any of those main points, i would cut it since those words would take up valuable space in the word count. stay focused on what needs to be in this essay, and if you have extra words left in the word count later, you can add those details back in.
and once you’re done with your essay, make sure to refer back to your takeaways and check that you covered all of them sufficiently!
tip #3: highlight your stories.
i sent cat an ask a couple days ago with a few pictures of my response to an end-of-year college counseling survey that referenced this tip (you can find it here). basically i said that, when choosing what topics to write about, pick things that interest you! if you get excited talking about it, your audience should get excited about reading it, because they’ll pick up on the passions you have and then everyone’s excited !!! :D
i’ll tell you a secret: everyone you meet, everyone you see, has countless unique experiences that few others may have. me? i spend hours making mashups out of kpop songs. i earned my black belt years after a traumatizing experience during training. i get russian harry potter and spanish dr. seuss books from the library. and i created a collaborative online google photos album for my classmates that now has thousands of entries. although these aren’t necessarily unique to only me, they’re still special enough to the point where, when you put them all together, you get a better image of the person i am, and what i value.
so find a story, a habit, a hobby that makes you different, because i believe that everyone has them. give them some food for thought, or that one-liner that sticks in their brain and won’t go away. and remember: these stories don’t all have to be extraordinary—they should be about people or moments of special value to you, because that’s what matters.
personal tip: when i was brainstorming ideas, i decided that the best way to get ideas out there was to go on a rant (because sometimes it helps to just have a conversation with yourself !!) and i recorded myself, so i could replay what i said !! this was so so crucial to me finding my own voice for writing essays. notice the way you word things when you talk—a good line or two may make it into the final draft :)
i found it helpful to read sample essays as well! they give a lot of great ideas on the kinds of topics people write about. (also, it’s kind of fun, because who doesn’t love a good story?)
but the people reading your essay won’t be there to just enjoy your story; what they really want you to do is to tell them what you learned from your experience. they want to know whether you’re teachable and willing to grow both as a student and as a young adult. so make sure to take note of the life lessons you learned, experience you gained, character you built, etc.
minor tip on ending your essay: if you’re telling a story that happened in the past, then close with what you learned and how you can apply that to your life moving forward. if you’re telling a story that has no definite end yet (like a passion or dream you have), you probably don’t have everything figured out (and you can say that in your essay!), so it might be better to close with your hopes for the future.
tip #4: ask your family for help.
peer-editing is one of the most effective ways to detect errors and inconsistencies in your writing, because, after staring at your essay for so long, you might gloss over glaring contradictions. for all of my essays, i printed them out and asked my parents to help me revise them. we’d meet every other night (or every night, depending on how much time was left) to review and discuss improvements.
i actually kept some of those printed drafts (only the first and the final ones for comparison), and let me tell you from experience—you’re probably going to have a lot of drafts (i think the most i did was seven? but you don’t need to go that far!). this part of the process does take some time, so remember to be patient and kind to yourself :) these essays won’t happen overnight!
enlisting the help of others also helps keep you accountable. one of the struggles many seniors face while writing essays is just... setting aside time to do them. and even though the constant reminders from your parents will definitely get repetitive and a bit stress-inducing, i can tell you from personal experience that i’m so glad they did; otherwise, i don’t think i’d have my essays done in time :’)
while writing college essays is challenging, your family will be there supporting you each step of the way. chances are that they’ll have their own pointers to pass on to you, since they probably remember doing this process themselves! and, out of everyone in your life, they probably remember the most about you (because you probably don’t remember much when you were four or five), so they might have a couple starter ideas for topics when brainstorming. you can rely on them for their advice and their experience.
tip #5: self-editing.
here’s the part that takes the longest time.
use action words. this is probably something you’ve heard all throughout elementary school where they didn’t like you to say “said” because it was “boring”… but honestly, the difference between “doing my own version” and “infusing it with my personality” could go a long way. also, use words that you would actually use in an essay—then it’ll have your own special flair, and not sound like it’s taken from some stuffy 80s textbook!
here are some of the words i used (once again, you shouldn’t use these words if they don’t sound like something you’d write/say): potential, overlay, wrestle, launch, analogous, weave, infuse, experiment, outlet, revel, fascinate, satisfaction, pursue, expand, distinction, capture, range, archive, engage, beyond, build, adversity, cultivate, preserve, commit, explore, convey, naturally
also, be on the lookout for repeated words. i once wrote an essay without noticing that i used “hope” three times in the same paragraph. don’t do that! use synonyms :) personally, i tended to run short on synonyms, so i always kept a tab or two open on my computer reserved for searching up new words.
side note: unfortunately, during my search for synonyms, i discovered that thesaurus.com just didn’t give me what i was looking for. i highly recommend using wordhippo instead; it has so many more options and they’re grouped by the different definitions of your word! i found the synonyms i needed really quickly and it was very satisfying!
avoid the passive voice! my teacher gave me this tip for theses or any other college-level writing. here’s an example of the passive voice: “there was a large part of me that wanted to turn back.” that’s twelve words taking up precious space in your word count! instead, say something like, “i considered turning back.” you’ve just freed up eight words :)
tip #6: final revisions.
this is the step where you fine-tune your essays. meet that word count.
read your writing out loud. does it sound like you? it should. every writer has a different voice, and you need to ensure that yours is pervasive throughout your essay. feel free to use contractions—not only do they reduce your word count (this was a good thing for me, since i had a problem with getting under 350 words), but they also give a more casual tone to your essay, as if you’re telling a story to someone in the room.
next, pretend to be an admissions officer and have someone else read your essay to you. do you get excited hearing about this student who shares your name? if you do, there’s a good chance the real admissions officers will love your essays, too. this also gives you a chance to review to your essay as a whole. pay attention to the overall flow. is there a clear beginning and end? do you resolve the issues and overcome the trials you brought up? listen to it as if it’s a story, and take this time to enjoy what you’ve written. you worked hard!
final thoughts / encouragements.
oh my goodness, did we make it to the end? honestly if you did, thank you so much 🥺
okay but despite my relatively optimistic tone throughout this post, i’m still going to be honest with you—the college essay writing process is difficult. it requires you to look inside yourself and analyze the “why” behind some of the things that you love, and that isn’t easy to do at all. it’s intellectually and emotionally challenging, because not only do you need to use so much energy writing, but you also have to dig deeper to understand yourself, and that’s not easy, either.
but i wanted to encourage you, too. no matter what you may think of yourself at 12am, 2am, 4am writing these essays, believe you have a personality that others love and will love when they meet you. you are an interesting person with unique experiences who deserves to share your thoughts with others. you have so many people behind you, supporting you during these next few months. and when you find that you can’t write any more, remember to take time to care for yourself. have a warm shower. go to bed early. i could go on and on about why sleep is good for your brain but i’ll spare you the details in this post 😉
one last thing: keep the bigger picture in focus. remember, by december or january, you will be finished with most of the application process. that’s no small accomplishment. you can do it. 💝
i really hope you found tips that you were looking for, and that they’re applicable to your own PIQs and other essays !! if you have any other questions, feel free to send in another ask (i promise my response won’t be this lengthy LOL) 💘💓
oh, and if you feel comfortable enough reaching out about anything in particular, i’m only a DM away 💕 i wish you the best of luck on writing your essays and i hope you enjoy your final year of high school !! 💗🌸💟💖

Some thoughts and stuff #1
I will admit, it is strange to talk about having paracosms as an adult. Like why continue to play with imaginary worlds when you're all grown-up right? Grown-ups don't have imaginary friends or daydream. Grown-ups just have...just their thoughts.
Well for one, I'm an artist and a writer. So I had to play and explore imaginary worlds for my art and stories. And secondly, I believe that it is fine to explore imaginary worlds and their creative possibilities in one's mind. Why when we reach adulthood, we are told by society to leave our toys and childhood memories behind? Always be present in the now. Stay focused. Pay attention. All this even in our private lives.
And it makes sense to be present in the now in most situations. Like staying focused in class, driving, talking to someone, working, and so on. But what about in your private space when you are not working or talking to anyone?
It is very concerning when I see my peers so focused on being productive at all times of the day. Even more so when they get to the point of burnout and continue working past it at the risk of their mental health. I remember last year trying to work during the pandemic was at its peak and running into days where I just have no energy to do anything.
But around that same time, I was working on a story, RFR, and thinking back on my old childhood paracosms and my adventures in them. My memories of my old paracosm were sparse and I only have a few mental fragments of places, lands, characters, and creatures there. But I still have my old drawings of that world.

This paracosm, Johnovia, was my world. It was a land of fantasy and magic full of mystery. From what I could remember, there were vast lands of grasslands, forests, and mountains in this world. Dragons and other mythical beasts lived here. Hidden dungeons, ruined civilizations, and warring kingdoms were abundant. And I was its guardian.

I always wanted to turn this old paracosm into something. Lord of the Rings, The Chronicles of Narnia, and so many stories and games inspired my childhood paracosm. When I started writing this idea out a few years ago, PIQ, I had trouble getting started. Or rather getting organized. I only have small fragments of my paracosm to go from and my first few drafts did not go very well. I wanted to cover so much but I really don’t have much.
Except for a wooded grove full of ancient ruins and a little town just down the trail...

- An absolute bastard man
- Grey absolutely hates him (he burned their house down... twice!)
- Charming at first, but is insane on a whole other level
- Hammers, anvils, and bombs galore!
- Fourth wall breaks constantly
- Gets trapped in the void constantly (sometimes his doing, sometimes others)
- “Fabulous!!”
So, that’s Masquerade for you! I’ll do more with him in the future, but for now, most of the stuff I have on him is on my piq! Thank you for your time!

Biblical Hebrew Roots - hapaxes, other considerations
As noted in the post yesterday, a hapax is a word that is used only once in a text. There are (still sort-of) 917 of them where the root is a hapax by my count. They are hard to isolate though. Because if one excludes the names, a remaining root may be a hapax, a unique usage, but also doubling as a name elsewhere. This is the case with Shiloh. The same root is used once in Daniel. So I probably should restrict the definition of hapax to include the semantic domain. Then maybe my sets would not overlap or worse underlap.
There are also other forms of unique readings. Besides uniquely used roots, there are also uniquely used word forms, 19,772 of these, (if my query is correct) and there are also accidental hapaxes created by the translator when he or she uses a unique gloss in translation. I have created a few of these but I have tried to keep them to a minimum (except when I was being deliberately provocative or using word play). E.g., I was just looking at that pervasive word krm, utterly destroy or put to the ban. I also used the gloss mutilate only once (and never for any other root). See Lev 21:18. And krm also is used for the harvesting instrument, scythe. See Deut 16:9.
I also try to find, and I think I have always succeeded, a unique English gloss for each of the root hapaxes.
In the first post I listed the names with the non-names (and missed the Daniel instance). Here are the 249 alone. I have varied the sort field so you can see at a glance where these hapaxes are.

Orange, green, white, and 8 ball for Piq for the OC ask game?
Thank you for the ask Emmy!
🟠 Orange- What is a trait your OC hides about themselves from others? Do they refuse to acknowledge it or begrudgingly accept it?
Deep down, Piq knows what the Calcanium Empire does is wrong. They don't have any right to be colonising or destroying planets. But frankly, she doesn't really care. She's a bad guy, she knows it, she's even somewhat proud of it. She's not going to address the matter, because she doesn't care about the matter. She likes being bad.
🟢 Green- What is considered a weakness in your OC that is actually a strength? What is a strength in your character that can be twisted into a weakness?
She cares too much about her scout Kels. The other commanders make snide remarks about her favoritism towards him despite his frequent slip-ups and easily distracted nature, but her fondness for him allows him further chances to show his potential. However, this can be used against her, as General Vhun has threatened Kels' life on several occasions to manipulate Piq into doing what he wants.
⚪️ White- When was a moment in your OC's life that they felt the most vulnerable and exposed? Were they alone or surrounded?
Surrounded. She was taken before the Almighty Leaders themselves to explain one of her recently failed assignments, which contradicted her usually excellent track record. For the first time in her life, she was terrified.
🎱 8 Ball- What situation was your OC lucky to escape from or get out of? What or who helped them unexpectedly?
The above mentioned Almighty Leaders interrogation. A general failed an assignment more crucial than hers, and the Leaders scrapped Piq's interrogation to bring in the general instead.
