I finished The Price of Salt. solidly eh. I know it was Important when it came out (ha) because it was one of the few not tragic lesbian romances. although honestly I think it's still pretty damn tragic. the prose ranged from okay to lovely. 3.5/5 for gay ppl.

also read another gay book, Bloom, which is a graphic novel about two young men who fall in love and bake together and it's adorable. 4.5/5, I devoured it like freshly baked bread.

finally finished Harrow the Ninth, and uh. wow. it was the weirdest book I've ever read, and if asked to describe what happened, I could not. but that's part of the charm. also, the author's writing style is absolutely amazing. 5/5

On A Sunbeam is another queer graphic novel I read. are you sensing a trend? it's phenomenal - the art, the world, the story, all 10/10. highly recommend.

Favorite Characters

Wow my favorite character lists is really not that diverse. Vermillion + Captain supremacy. 

1. Leopold Vermillion

Where to begin with Leo? If you can’t tell by my Black Clover fanart being 80% Leopold, you’d know that I am iN LOVE WITH THIS KID AND HIS CHARACTER. I adore Leopold so much it’s such a shame that he doesn’t get as much screen time as he should because he has so much potential. His fiery, energetic, loud personality just sticks out to me. I could go more in detail but I’ll spare them to make this post shorter.

2. Finral Roulacase

WHERE TO BEGIN WITH FINRAL? I am absolutely in love with this man JAOISJDOAIOEHAO. Finral really resonates with me since I feel a connection with him through his low self-worth and his struggles with being an older sibling. Other than that, I absolutely adore him so much. He’s such a cutie and I love all of his comedic moments and how hard working he is sm. 

3. Langris Vaude

This goes to show how much I just love the space brothers. Langris is such a complex character and I LOVE his relationship with Finral. Of course, a lot of people are really quick to hate on Langris-- and rightfully so. But examining his character, it definitely shows reason (but def not excuses) to why Langris acts the way he does. 

4. Yuno

I just straight up adore Yuno. I love his stoic, cold character and his reasons for it. He could have his comedic moments which is quite hilarious to say the very least. I do wish we would know more about his experiences in the Golden Dawn though since I feel like even though he’s a main character, we hardly know anything about him. But he is just as hardworking as Asta and I love how healthy his rivalry with Asta is.

5. Asta

Asta is what the cool kids call, “the GOAT.” I absolutely love his character and his role as the MC of the series. I think Tabata writes his character really well. I love how he always picks himself back up, despite literally the entire world being against him. I think Asta is very inspirational and hands down one of my favorite shonen protagonists. He is very underrated and it pains me to see him downgraded to someone who screams a lot since he really doesn’t scream that much past the beginning. (I personally found his screaming endearing!)

6. Rill Boismortier

RILL IS MY FAVORITE CAPTAIN AAAAA! HE IS SO CUTE! As an artist, I absolutely adore his magic! I just love everything about him; his carefree attitude, his entire design, his laugh, everything!

7. Fuegeoleon Vermillion

King Vermillion, everyone! I just have a soft spot for the Vermillions. I love how strong Fuego is! He’s such a kind-hearted person with such a strong will! I’m super glad he has Salamander by his side because he deserves it!!!!!!!!!!! Out of everyone, I’m hoping he’ll be the next wizard king. 

8. William Vangeance

You know what’s funny? I didn’t know people actually hated Vangeance until I encountered BC twitter lmao. But I love Vangeance so much. He’s another huge, complex character that people seem to either hate him or love him. His characters throughout the entire series plays such a huge role and I love that. 

9. Mereoleona Vermillion

QUEEN VERMILLION! I just love how she isn’t your typical magic knight and she just does her own thing! She is the epitome of powerful woman and she is hands down, imo, the strongest captain. 

10. Dorothy Unsworth

oH MAN??? GLAMOUR WORLD? ARE YOU KIDDING? Her entire character is phenomenal. From her design, to her magic, to her personality, she just screams perfection. I do wish to know more about her soon, though we got a glimpse of it when she was talking to Noelle about Megicula!

Favorite Ships

If I’m being honest, I really only have a top 3? But the only ship I’m actually passionate about is yunoleo so--

1. YunoLeo

If you’re new to my account, you’d definitely find this ship to be a surprise. It actually wasn’t a ship I thought about until my friend Himae and I were joking talking about Yuno and Leo and then went “holy shit wait---” The relationship of YunoLeo is all about POTENTIAL since the two have not interacted much in canon. But, I can’t stress enough how perfect I think Yuno and Leo would be together. They would definitely go into the “rivals-to-lovers” and “opposites attract” tropes. Not to mention, my personal headcanon for both of them is that they’re both gay.  I believe if Tabata were to allow Yuno and Leopold to interact more, it would definitely show the potential they would have together. I could elaborate more in detail but I think this post would be way too long. 

2. AsuNoe / Astelle

Out of everyone in the “Asta harem,” I tend to like AsuNoe more, surprisingly. I feel like I’m not quite used to shipping the main MCs together, let alone the MC with the tsundere female MC. However, I have a soft spot for Noelle. I feel like if her character wasn’t super revolved around her crush on Asta, they’d definitely flow better. I like how they interact. It’s quite obvious that Asta does care about Noelle as much as she does. But, as oblivious as Asta is, I don’t think they’ll get together anything soon LOL. I’m not super passionate about AsuNoe, but I do like them the most out of all the potential Asta ships. From them being teammates, there’s a lot of build-up that can occur, not to mention the huge canon influence.

3. YamiChar

Charlotte’s crush on Yami is the cutest thing ever. I just love the dynamic between her and Yami; Yami being oblivious to her feelings, but thinking Charlotte secretly hates him since she avoids him but Charlotte avoiding him because she’s actually super nervous. I don’t think that Yami has a romantic interest towards Charlotte in canon at the moment, but I do think he does like her. 

4. Mars/Fana

Pretty much canon, I don’t really have much to say about them aside from the fact that I hope they get married already!

5. Rillmy

OKAY RILLMY IS JUST SO CUTE. I definitely adore the idea of the two of them together! Their characters flow really well together and I really think they have potential! Maybe they’ll get more scenes together from this arc? I hope so!

6. Nozel/Dorothy

This ship is really cute to! Though we don’t actually see them interact in canon, the fact that Nozel and Dorothy seem to talk to each other a lot and Nozel being able to confide in Dorothy makes me go ohohoho.

7. WiriPatri

LITERAL SOULMATES. The fact that they were finally able to see one another makes my heart soar. The scene where Patri slowly falls against Vangeance’s shoulder as Vangeance holds him aaaAAAAAA FUCK. TOO GOOD. 

8. YamiWiri

Such a good “rivals-to-lovers” ship. They work so well together and they have SUCH a good, strong relationship. 

9. Klaus/Letoile

Okay listen, I ship them based off of purely aesthetics but like.... hello? Very good. They were in panels together in the manga! That’s enough canon validation for me LMAO.

favorite character: Literally everyone who’s ever met me knows this lol but Alfred hands down. He’s brilliant. I love the brainy ones who play puppeteer with everyone else, it just really turns the cogs in my mind. I also love Uhtred and Aldhelm though, they’re probably tied for next in line :)

least favorite character: Cn*t 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢 I can’t stand him. But Aethelwold comes in a close second because ew.

5 favorite ships (canon or non-canon): Again, literally everyone who’s ever met me knows this but Uhtred and Alfred have so much chemistry and such a strong bond that I couldn’t just...not ship them. After that there are some really good canon ships in this show that I just love. Aethelflaed x Aldhelm, Uhtred x Gisela, Finan x Eadith, and Alfred x Aelswith have all my heart eyes 🥺

character I find most attractive: Ugh I can’t believe I have to answer this when the main cast is full of attractive people. If I’m being completely honest I really think Uhtred and Gisela are super attractive.

most badass character: Alfred. He wasn’t the protagonist but still stole the spotlight every time he was on screen and was unafraid to call people out on their BS.

most epic villain: I hate just about every antagonist in this show and most of them are kind of lame tbh, but Siegfried (i think that’s how you spell it? the subtitles call him Sigefrid but it didn’t look right) was pretty good. I didn’t like him much but he was probably the least lame.

pairing I am not a fan of: Brida and Cn*t are just...ew. Ugh. No.

character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): I mean the writers did a great job with everyone really but... Brida by the end of s4? I am Not a fan.

favourite friendship: It’s impossible for me to give any answer but Coccham Squad, though Hild and Uhtred are the most wholesome friendship I’ve ever seen between a man and a woman on screen. I love the respect he has for her 💖💖 and she for him!!! Really anyone who’s friends with Uhtred, I love.

character I most identify with: I identify a lot with Aldhelm and, a fact which disgusts me :), Edward. Not that I live in my parents’ shadow but at such a young age he’s striving to do more than he’s capable of and that’s a same. I still hate him though 🥴

how I feel about this character: HE IS EVERYTHING TO ME AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I would sell my soul to him for a penny and a lock of his soft hair 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺

any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: Have I not said Uhtred twice already? I will say it a third time. He deserves it. I also love his relationship with Aelswith. They had a rocky start but there were some scenes in the later seasons that really showed how much they loved and cared for each other 🥺❤️

my favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: He doesn’t really interact with any of the characters except for Uhtred and his family, so I’d have to say Aethelflaed. He’s such an adorable dad with her, I love seeing how much he dotes on her and he was so stricken with grief when she was kidnapped in s2 😭 But for characters who aren’t his family, I’d have to say Hild. She’s easily his favorite nun 🏆😇

my unpopular opinion about this character: A lot of people don’t like him because of his treatment of Uhtred throughout the course of the show which is valid, since he shows a lot of hypocritical behavior and manipulates Uhtred into serving him a lot. But people don’t take into account the fact that Uhtred refused to assimilate with his culture and follow his laws in his own land, instead doing the exact opposite by killing who he pleased and blatantly disrespecting the Christian God. People normally ignore this by saying it was a different time but it’s Alfred’s house and his rules and that is the tea sis.

one thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: The reconciliation with Uhtred and the handhold was really all I could wish for 🥺🥺 and Uhtred’s speech about him!!! The love!!! I’ll always hold their bond so dearly to my heart. But I really wish that we’d gotten to see some grandpa Alfred before he died :((( Grandma Aelswith and Aethelstan were so cute, and the scene where she tells Aethelstan about Alfred’s vision made my heart hurt so much. I wish we’d gotten to see Alfred be a grandpa though 💔 He would have been the best grandfather 😤😤

favorite friendship for this character: haha the implication that alfred has friends is so funny....but no his closest friend is his chronicle (it’s really his diary). To answer this question seriously though, Aelswith may be his wife but she’s also his best friend!! They judge people together just as best friends should. I love them <3

my crossover ship: I’m not really a crossover person so I don’t really have one. Also he’s a real person so that’s just kinda... idk nahhh lol. 🍁 - How did your f/o and s/i meet?

Okay, so I made this into a short dumb story of how they actually met. A bit lovey-dovey but no smooching in this one. It's not as great bc I'm tired but I can write stuff much longer than this if I'm being honest. I'm still trying to fit Dan's words in character and I made sure I was able to hear everything in his voice. Sorry if you guys don't but aaaaa I still am open to get more practice.

It was somewhere towards the end of October, near Halloween except the day is pretty frigid. Zephyr sat in the table that was out of the coffee shop. She is not that keen on the current flavor, but she also never cared much for it. A few sips we're provided, of course. Things have been chill and not much has happened yet. The coffee table had a white cover over it, a tiny plate where the drink is usually set, and another gray chair that is sitting across from the lady.

There was something that did grab her attention. Something that was hardly far across the distance of her current area. But what was it?

"Hm?"

She quietly mumbled and squints for a more understanding picture.

Her hair was black with purple highlights, a bit of magenta was still noticeable. She was currently wearing a delicate white jacket with a gray scarf draped around her neck. Zephyr was also wearing black jeans and boots that were the exact color. Her eyes were a ghastly version of the color blue, more like turquoise when you think about it but darker.

It just stood there for an entire minute. What a waste of time. What was detected was not too intriguing. Zephyr scowled, stealing one final sip until the figure abruptly appeared in front of her eyes. She spat out her drink, immediately onto the table. Who was he?! What is he doing?

He decided to go into a seated position on the chair, casting an extended gaze. Zephyr's eyes glimpse into him to examine his body. She was already dripping, her face was growing hot. She liked him... And how gorgeous he was to her. She was embarrassed but also a blushing predicament all at once.

He wore a shirt and part of his chest was exposed. The clothing went past the belt, an extension was over his groin. The shirt does have sleeves that are a dull color of blue, which would match his pants pretty well. His hair is shoulder length, just like Zephyr's, similar hairstyle as it frays out on each side. His eyebrows were like shaved specks. The eyes? They're pretty... Red is in fact, one of her beloved colors.

She tried to prevent herself from getting caught blushing, which wasn't going to work out very adequately.

He finally piped up.

"Heeeeey why is your face all red? I get that it's cold out but I don't think that's it. We just met for the first time and you're blushing?" His voice was soft, but it was pretty soothing to Zephyr as well. She needed to hear more words from him.

"S-Sometimes I'm just shy when meeting new people... Ehehe. Nothing that important really." Zephyr beamed, her eyes are partially shut. "And attractive idiots like him." She guessed. "Oh, and I was only staring because I didn't know what was going on, or who you we're... I don't think you would believe me whatsoever."

"Why would I not believe a cute girl like you? You know y-"

"Mind introducing yourself to me? That would be really nice." Zephyr postponed his sentence with a little favor. She was dying to know who he certainly is, what his name was. Hell, even more information he's a beauty!

"Well, that was sudden... You can call me Dan. Some people might call me 'Dan Of Steel', but for you... You're free to call me whatever. Your turn." Steely Dan introduced as he anticipated for Zephyr's acknowledgment. He stood up to pull the chair much closer to the flushed girl, sitting right back down. Her face was extremely hot. Why did Dan have to move so close to her already?

"Why it's a p-pleasure to meet you, Dan! I-I'm Zephyr, I also like to draw, play video games, and do whatever pleases me ya know? I also... Don't know what more to say at this point. I do enjoy looking nice in public, no matter where I'm at." Zephyr inaugurated and stuttered. "Cute." Dan speculated. "Well, it's certainly a pleasure to meet you Zephyr. I must say you're really attractive, you see. I'm the type of guy that can easily make any girl fall head over heels." He jabbed his elbow into her arm with a wink. "Okay, Dan. I'm not as adorable as people might think I am, second... Are you implying that you think I have some sort of crush on you?"

"'Implying'? I'm not implying anything. Seriously, you should look at how hysterical your face is!" Steely Dan cackled, the lady glared while it was suspended with a smirk. "You motherfucker-"

His arms curved around her body, incapable of moving. Frozen. Totally frozen. Zephyr's face was pushed into his chest. She shuddered and squeezed him right back, his two fingers brush the top of her strand. "How soft... I honestly enjoy the colors." Dan admitted, seeing the purple streaks that are in specific areas of her dark hair. It was mostly black, just like his. She's had purple, he did not.

"Miss, I can even feel how hot your face is. You don't have to say anything, I can tell you're that in love with me. Besides, I think out of all of the ladies out there you're by far the cutest I've seen." He teased, glancing down at Zephyr. "Fine Dan. I know it's weird that we just met but... Your personality is interesting already. I'd love to know more about you if you stop teasing me like that." She rolled her eyes at him and sighed.

He smiled, standing up with her being held up. There was a feeble tinge of red hitting his cheeks too. "I'll be more than willing to get to know you too. Are you wanting to go anywhere else? Like someone's house for example..." He polled.

Zephyr answered back.

"Of course. I'd love to see what your house is like."

Dan smirked, his arms were still hugging her while her entire face was now planted into his chest.

"Alright then. That's acceptable."

hc question: what do you think makes noctis so attracted to prompto and his friendship? obviously its otp levels of adorableness and angst, but what kept noctis remembering prompto all those years and wanting to seal the deal and keep him close past that? do you think there's an element of fate or soul mates to it? or do they work hard because they simply care about each other so much?

I had obvious reasons to love Promptis, for example, I enjoyed their unbreakable bond and how their lives seemed to be bound together by fate since the start. I mean, for Prompto, a fugitive to not only end up in the same school as the Prince of Lucis but to also be one of his only friends is quite impressive! But there’s so much more to them than fate alone. 

First of all, I think we all are kind of familiar with how obsessed people would be with the Royal family. This can be observed through the way others interact with Noctis at school. They are all fascinated with his lifestyle. And I can imagine this obsession extends beyond school grounds.

Idk about where you’re from, but some Australians are obsessed with the British Royal Family and we’re hella far away. I can only imagine how their faces would occasionally be plastered upon magazines and how there’d be scandals and opposition etc. (There was obviously some tension in Kingsglaive). 

BUT ANYWAYS that’s besides the point. Let’s just look inside his classroom (this is when they smol). We know the girls are obsessed with Noctis (or rather, his status e.e), but (most) of the boys would probably lose interest in him after a few years. I mean, first year in the same cohort? They’d all be excited to know a Prince but… wouldn’t that kind of… die down eventually? I can’t imagine its full KSDJFLAK IT’S NOCTIS every dang time he walks down the hall for the next couple of years, ya feel? So, say the guys are just in the background, probably glancing at Noctis when they see him and then moving on with their day lalala. And then imagine a bunch of squealing, girls who probably write fanfiction about him in the foreground. Gets kinda repetitive. All of a sudden, amidst the sea of doe-eyed blushing girls, he meets this boy who’s a bit clumsy and adorably SHY.

Said boy then just watches him from afar, hiding behind tiny poles (cute) to just… watch him. It wasn’t the same type of ‘observing’ as the girls. Prompto wasn’t giggling about him. And it wasn’t the same type of ‘observing’ as the boys either, because Prompto paid attention and was probably really consistent with how often he’d ‘watch’ Noctis, rather than just noticing him as he passes by. It was more than just acknowledging or gossiping. 

‘Watching’ has a bit of a negative connotation but in Prompto’s case, I found it sweet. It’s the context. This boy who pretty much lives in solitude is so inspired by Noctis, and Luna’s letter that he observes to almost learn from and to admire. He watches everyday until he deems himself good enough to approach the Prince. 

Secondly, Noctis is pretty observant, I think. At least that’s how I see him. He’s in touch with his emotions albeit feeling the need to hide them. (I think he’s in touch because he responds to his emotions, we see anger a few times during the game) He’d grown up quite lonely so he’d be his own best friend. He’d listen to himself. Because he’s observant, he’d probably notice Prompto. And by ‘notice’ I don’t mean “oh yeah its that guy over there again”. He’d notice the changes in Prompto’s frame. He’d notice every time Prompto watches him. He’d feel the energy. And he’s smart enough to see that it isn’t the Omg aaaaa Prince Noctisss vibes. 

There’s a big difference between admiring something/someone out of respect, and obsessing over something/someone because they’re different or intriguing/entertaining. (Like how some Karens™ I know in Australia OBSESS over the British Royal family, but only when there’s goss.) 

Thirdly, when Prompto approaches him in highschool, Noctis is pretty quick to offer a smile and become friends with him. That’s because Prompto isn’t approaching him for personal gains. He knows this because the boy has just been watching from afar day after day. If Prompto had any ulterior motives, he’d either one, approach him MUCH MUCH earlier, or two, hide himself more carefully so Noct wouldn’t have known he was being watched? (idk if that makes sense, I mean if you’re a shady person you wouldn’t be outright shady, right??)

And before I end this LONG AS post, I just want to add: the idea of ‘fate’ plays a role in every single interaction we have. Fate and luck and the planets aligning etc. But it takes more than that for a mere meeting to blossom into a friendship or a relationship. The beauty of Promptis is that we can see how much Prompto has poured into the relationship, and how he is continually contributing by being ever at Noctis’ side. We see a healthy bond between two individuals dealing with the weight of their preconceived identities and their journey finding themselves despite their labels. (i.e. Noctis: Prince. Prompto: Niff clone) 

Here’s a bit of a thought, but I especially want to portray their relationship as mutual. I know we see Noctis as a sleepy Prince who’s rolling with the punches half the time, but I believe he’s more than that. I believe he has his own love language and quirks, and he’s still learning how to express his emotions, which is the next step after being in touch with your emotions. He’s still fighting that battle of You gotta grow and be a strong masculine King one day and I want to express love, care and affection and be vulnerable with this person. 

I want to explore their flaws, too. I can imagine Noctis having Prince’s jealousy (like… a sense of entitlement or lowkey possessiveness) –I mean, you see that behaviour with children who don’t have siblings, so I can imagine an only-child who’s also a PRINCE would possess such attributes. And then there’s Prompto with his insecurities (ones he understandably has), there’s a whole lot of stuff to work through, and their relationship will have its challenges. (The whole Prompt/Noct misunderstanding when the train scene happened sheds some light on the possible gaps and imperfections in their relationship. It seems to suggest that Prompto’s insecurities may lead to a ‘self-fulfilling prophecy’ scenario and how Noct possibly has some difficulty knowing how to reassure Prompt by just using words.) But as an angst-addict I am ABSOLUTELY THRILLED to explore all of that realism, all of the flaws and quirks and what makes them both so unique. 

IN CONCLUSION: Fate plays a big role in their friendship in its budding stages, but hard-work keeps them together. Noctis became fast friends with Prompto because he is familiar with who Prompto is and understands his motives to be different than his other peers’. 

Noctis and Prompto both have flaws/things to work through in order for them to work as a couple (or even as friend asdfa) but that’s why we love them B)

B - Bashful what’s something one finds embarrassing about themselves but the other finds adorable?

-I am v e r y embarrassed by my hiccups. I have the weirdest hiccups and they always attract a lot of attention because they're VERY squeaky and maybe 3 of them rapid fire, then just gone. Dick finds them super adorable, though he knows I get embarrassed about them easily, so he wont say anything... but the look he gives me when he hears them conveys it all 💕

C - Calm how do they calm the other down?-

H U G S. Listen....... both Dick and I are mildly touch starved. If either of us is panicking or in a bad spot?? Hugs can help! I'm also very partial to having my hair played with when I need to chill, so he does that! He mostly just likes to be listened to, so if he's having a rough time, I'll hug him and let him vent out all of what's going on!

F - Flirt do they flirt? If so how do they flirt?

-Dick is pretty straightforward when it comes to flirting, albeit he gets very blushy about it.... it's so cute 💕💕 Me? I like to shoot for the good old fashioned horrible pickup lines and puns (': Why did this man marry me

R - Routine what’s something they do together like clockwork?

-We've created a system for walking our dogs together, and we're at the point where its pretty well in sync! He takes Missile and I take Dodgers. Whenever they inevitably get crossed and tangle up the leashes, we've worked out how to switch dogs pretty quickly :b Maya was amazed that with as crazy as these dogs are, we never get tangled!

S - Selfies do they like taking pictures together? Do they keep pictures of the other?

-I l o v e taking pictures with him! I love being able to show the world what a handsome husband I have!! I also like to take candid pictures of him and edit them with a bunch of hearts around him and funky filters 💕 He tried to get a candid of me once and its h o r r i b l e because I was in the middle of laughing, but he refuses to delete it because he says it's cute and makes him happy.... So who am I to argue? 💕💕
